It’s a common complaint about Veilguard that none of the companions really check in with rook to make sure they’re ok (which I personally don’t think is entirely true), but I think it’s such a good setup for solrook/elgarook. Rook feeling desperate for attention and touch starved and inadvertently seeking out that attention from solas/elgar, who know just how much they want affection. Even if it’s from a man they know they shouldn’t trust.

With elgarook it’s even worse, bc solas at least seems to be a mentor figure whose goals align with theirs for the moment. Who could fault them for seeking comfort from him? On the other hand, Elgarnan is completely open about the fact that he views rook as a child whose base needs aren’t being met. But no one else seems to be willing to meet them, so what other option do they have? They should be honored that a God is willing to take care of them in this way.

I definitely got that feeling from Solas in-game sometimes- that even though he was obviously manipulating Rook, that Rook kept turning to him for mentorship and guidance because they felt they couldn't share their worries with the team.

One on my favourite things about the last act is how genuinely sad you can play Rook at having placed their trust in Solas and been betrayed by him. you can really go all-in on the "I was relying on you, I needed you" it's so dramatic, I love it

It makes me wonder too whether Solas would play along (in order to manipulate Rook for the greater good, of course) if Rook had an obvious crush on him. like just playing them with every little brush of his fingers along their arm...

and oh my god that Elgarook is so good. I love it when a villain is like "what do you mean, the other heroes aren't treating you like you deserve? I guess it falls to me." No one else on the team realizes it until it's too late, and Rook has someone ended up trapped by Elgar'nan- and he's reassuring them and soothing them, worming his way into their little head ♥

I LOVEEE Thirteen, Mephisto and Raphael ok, I would die to date any of them.

But the thought of them becoming dateable, as much as I want to date them… not so much, honestly… gives me constant anxiety, like… big time.

I mean the devs couldn’t even handle the SEVEN main love interests in S1 or S2. I mean cmon who doesn’t know how Asmo and Beel were the devs obvious least favourite. There are times where all the brothers get a kiss except Beel or Asmo.

And then when 4 more characters entered the intimacy system, they handled them really good actually, amazing even. S3 was great imo, for the new dateables that was. But again, half of the brothers were forgotten to be love interests. But, they did do the new dateables good.

But then, by S4 they all literally reverted back to being side characters again and not dateables from what I could see.

Diavolo seemed the exact same as he was in S1 and S2 except maybe in one romantic scene with him. Solomon was only playing the role of a teacher and almost nothing more. If you played S4 without S3 context, you wouldn’t have even guessed that they were a dateable. Same goes for Simeon (even though almost the entirety of S4 was centred around him) Barbatos just became a more romantic dateable so, we did get one kiss by the end but… felt really rushed.

And don’t forget before we had the spotlight events how bad, cliche and repetitive the events were? Because we had to make sure we kissed all of them (except luke ofc) so an entire event chapter was dedicated to making sure we spend time and kiss all of them. And then even then there were characters who weren’t kissed or got fair time and treatment.

Finally, in Nightbringer, during S1 Solomon had a lot of spotlight for once and some Diavolo, while Simeon didn’t even exist. When it came to S2, we got Simeon spotlight but Solomon and Diavolo just went -poof- and vanished just like that.

Don’t forget that every near to end of a season, we kiss all the dateables right? And for some very weird reason, we kissed every character, but you know who we didn’t? Diavolo. And what’s even more weird is that, there was no reason not to because we’ve already kissed him previously, and the scene was in perfect timing for an MC option to kiss him, we talked to him, but just didn’t… kiss him? It’s just so… confusing.

Oh right, don’t forget how the brothers went through their special arc or whatever you’d like to name it, with MC who’s helped the brothers through and through of course, so we get to kiss them each at the end, except you know which brothers didn’t? Asmo and Beel. That’s right. Even in Nightbringer the devs never changed. Well, actually, they got even worse. You know who else didn’t get a kiss? Belphie, who we know isn’t the fandoms favourite brother, so of course… no kiss either… that’s now another brother who the devs are starting leaving to the side.

So, the entire game is a current mess and if Solmare couldn’t handle 7 love interests properly, and added 4 to the mix, which upturned everything into chaos, adding another 3 into the dateables section… is it reeaaalllllyyy a good idea? I mean to let the devs handle them…

Again it’s not like I don’t want them to be dateable but just like… how are they going to handle it? You know… considering they actually can’t handle it?

There will have to be more romance in the story, or people would complain, they’d have to fit 15 characters in, and they can’t make the lessons short, which they already do, there’s a chance we’ll get to kiss some while others won’t even get screen time, Thirteen, Raphael, and Mephisto can’t be set to the side during events either otherwise there would be complaints, and there’s no way writers won’t get tired of writing Devilgrams for 15 characters so other characters will be bad, while others who always get the top will have a decent Devilgram story. I bet the writing for almost everything will go into mess…

And that’s my only problem cus I love them and I do want them to become dateable but I also want the game content to be good even though it’s… not… really. Ok ngl it’s already a mess. And that’s just something I feel very anxious about when thinking what’s gonna happen when there are more dateables…

○ To fish for some compliments u say stuff like “don’t u guys think the system here is amazing?? Oh my god this place is so great” but unfortunately they are just football freaks and don’t appreciate true art

○ To be fair you preferred to meet Bachira bc u liked him the most, you are a total fangirl over this bee boy, but u take what you can

○ It was getting late and you were scared that Anri would notice you on the cameras, so you decided you’d go back

○ “Oh you haven’t say from which team you are??” Isagi apparently was looking for more boys into his harem

Spamton - Favourite thing: Literally how good of a concept he is. A malware/virus/spam email personified into a sleazy, villainous salesman with a vocal tic? I adore that. Also he’s relatable. - Least favourite thing: IDK if this question has to actually relate to the canon-ness of the character. There’s nothing about him I particularly dislike? I can’t think of anything in terms of canon. I can certainly think of things outside of canon but I’m not counting that. - Favourite line: He has so many, ughhhh, but I always quote: “KID! I’M BUSY BECOMING [God]. GO PLAY [Minecrap] OR SOMETHING!” - BroTP: Spamton and Crypton/Blue Addison. - OTP: I honestly don’t really ship him with anyone but I do enjoy Swatchton sometimes. - NoTP: Spamton and Kris. Fucking stop. - Random headcanon: So fucking many but the first that comes to mind is that he shivers/gets panicky when he hears a phone ring due to his PTSD. - Unpopular opinion: Again, IDK if this has to relate to the canon-ness, but I’m just going to stick with that, so… I don’t think he’s as absurdly short as most people depict him as. - Song I associate him with: The obvious fucking answer is BIG SHOT, but I’m not counting that since it’s his canon theme. Two-Face/Harvey Dent -Favourite thing: How the fuck am I supposed to pick one thing- ok, fine, again, like Spamton, it’s the concept of him. An ex-lawyer who is split between serving justice the genuine way (the way he had always intended) or in the most extreme, horrifying way (the way he had always intended to stop) and acting as a foil to the hero who also has two personas. That’s a watered down version. Also he’s relatable. - Least favourite thing: Again, I can’t think of anything. I guess his whole thing with Renee was shitty. I do enjoy that story but, like, Harvey, don’t do that! - Favourite line: This man has many good lines, how can I pick- ok, the one that I think about a lot is: “We know the truth. You aren’t Bruce Wayne. Jim Gordon and I, we didn’t strike a deal with Bruce Wayne. And it sure as hell’s not Bruce Wayne waiting on the rooftops each night. This is who you are. See, we get it, Bruce. It’s not the face you’re given. It’s the face you choose.” - BroTP: Harvey and Jason. Though I view it more as an uncle/nephew thing rather than mere friends. - OTP: Again, like Spamton, I don’t necessarily ship him with anyone but I am an enjoyer of TwoBats/BruHarvey. - NoTP: Harvey with any of the (former) Robins. I have seen this and don't like it. Thankfully it really isn't common or popular. - Random headcanon: I have so manyyyyyyy, but one is that both Harvey and Two-Face MUST have everything in their living space EXACTLY how they want it. Scarecrow/Jonathan Crane - Favourite thing: Literally how he gives off strong cringefail loser vibes but has the means to psychologically ruin you for life. His 'power' is literally my worst nightmare. I'd really not spend longer in my head than I have to, thanks, Jon. - Least favourite thing: TBH I haven't read/consumed enough Scarecrow stories to pick something, so I can't really answer. - Favourite line: "And at the end of fear, oblivion!" - There's something quite harrowing about this. - BroTP: Again, I haven't consumed enough Scarecrow media to give a true answer to these sort of questions. I do like the idea of Harley and Jon being friends though. They were both Arkham doctors and basically became the patients they'd evaluate. They'd have lit convos. - OTP: AGAIN, I'm not the biggest shipper. I don't actually know if I'd ship Jon with anyone? I do enjoy some ScRiddler art. - NoTP: Hmmm... again, not enough info. hiii hina <333 ok so now i must know, what are some of your favourite character designs? like, the elements are so compelling and go so well together to form a design that is cohesive and visually appealing. and is there a particular piece of media that just has consistently banging character designs?

OOH OKKOKOK listen. i am no expert i have not been classically trained in fact i have not taken a single char design course but to me, good character design boils down to 2 main elements: a. recognizability and b. visual storytelling and the concept of show, don’t tell. recognizability is where more technical elements like shape language and silhouette come into play. u want an audience to be able to instantly know a character with minimal confusion, and that is made much easier if u have good working knowledge of shapes, colours, and proportions. That’s what /makes/ a good design, but what /SELLS/ that design is the underlying meaning. WHy do characters look the way they do. what can you learn from the way they look. there is undoubtedly a time and a place for designs that are just cute to be cute but if u want to make a lasting impression beyond “oh this character is hot/cute/attractive” u gotta dig deeper.

i wld b remiss and a liar and a fraud if i did not talk about arcane in regards to character design. fr me arcane is THE media that does not miss with a single one of their designs. this show is fucking stunning points at every character . every single one of them . hand in marriage. u learn SO much about everyone and their roles/personalities/fighting styles just by looking at them not to mention they’re all fucking 10s this show is a bisexual’s nightmARE anyway personal favourites vi and jinx but ths just me being predictable 

vi /looks/ like a fighter the minute u see her. her build her gait everything about her screams this woman will snap me like a twig (pLpslslplpslpslpspl). u see tht she’s rough and brash but one thing i rly find interesting is her hair colour. like fr one its brightness distinguishes her as a main character, but also pink being typically associated with femininity/love/nurture/compassion is SO interesting paired with vi. not only is it kind of subversive bc vi is not traditionally “feminine”, but she does embody all of those traits in that her reason for fighting comes from a place of wanting to nurture and protect. i could talk for hours about vi anyway. hand in marriage,,./.?? hand in marriage pls/?????????

jinx i LOVE I LOVE I LOVE . she’s wiry she’s chaotic she’s asymmetrical and that MEANS something it /shows/ her mental state n the way she fluctuates between her identities of jinx and powder. I love the hints of pink/purple not only as visual nods to vi but also as alluding to shimmer and the dangerous undercurrent it gives her. not 2 mention her design works so well alongside her sister like. besides the obvious pink/blue juxtaposition everything about them from their body types their colour schemes the way they carry themselves the way they dress… it’s peak . nothing tops arcane in character design for me

a few other noteworthy mentions: 

illumi hxh - listen idk what the fuck he’s wearing but it’s a 90s shounen i’ll forgive him. illumi’s design is brilliant imo. he’s not in your face like hisoka who u see and know immediately that this guy is insane, he’s beautiful but sleek in a way that makes him almost reptilian. it’s a subtle kind of off-putting and u want to recoil when u see him but it’s just understated enough that u don’t know Why until it’s too late. the wide, catlike dead eyes the jet black hair… his design lends SO well to what he represents for killua, he’s this ever-present shadow he’s an oppressive force we see phantoms of illumi’s eyes Boring into killua we see his hair forming a sort of cage god the visuals the visuals im so . im unwell about the zoldyks actually. 

kaneki tg - this one is a bit tricky bc at first glance kaneki /is/ just ur standard dark hair protag but!! the way his design and specifically his hair r used as a visual representation of his mental state and character arc is so good i lovelovelove the progression and storytelling u see through his design alone.

- early kaneki w his shorter plain black hair makes him look innocent and unassuming bc he /is/. he was no one special, what happened to him was just pure bad luck. - ghoul kaneki w white hair showing the mental break after he’s tortured, stripped of his innocence/sanity/humanity - HAISE MY LOVE the two-toned hair showcasing how he has literally become a blank slate after his amnesia and the events of tg and the resulting limbo between identities ((also idk if it’s just tht ishida’s style had changed by :re but haise’s hair in particular is so FLUFFY it makes him look very non-threatening which might be a coincedence but might also be intentional in showing how he’s taken on more of a gentle mentor role by this point)) - reaper kaneki and we r once again back to black but whereas before it made him look plain and unassuming with the new context it makes him look /lethal/. ((also directly contrasts arima's design, having a near identical silhouette with the only difference being his black to arima's white)) - endgame kaneki finally settling back on white as a way to show tht after everything he’s been through he’s come back permanently changed: he is a ghoul, he’ll never b able to go back to the way things were or reclaim his humanity, but he’s gotten to a place where he's at peace with it now tl;dr cataloguing a character’s journey and mental state through their appearance >>>>>>>

LAST THING IK IVE YAPPED SO MUCH GOMEN ,, i did want to tack on my feelings about, wouldn’t u know it, genshin fucking impact, bc i did say i think there is a place for character designs that r just pretty to be pretty and i think a lot of genshin designs r good examples of this. i’ve seen some people getting upset about genshin being lazy with character design and making their characters unnecessarily Busy, but as someone who doesn’t play and doesn’t know anything about the game let me just say tht if the goal is to get players to spend money fuckin congratulations . i too would whale for some of these designs. bc i don’t play i don’t know for sure whether or not characters' appearances have any relevance to their lore or if it’s mostly just bells and whistles purely for aesthetic, all i know is am not immune to alhaitham.

“Was there something wrong with this one?”  Secondo immediately felt bad, it was obvious his booming voice startled the small boy.  He fell backwards onto the floor of the hallway with a small yelp and stared up at him with wide eyes.  When he didn’t answer, Secondo cleared his throat and raised an eyebrow.  “Well?”

“No?”

“You don’t seem sure.”  He took a few steps forward and looked inside of the open clock face.  It was practically empty inside so clearly it hadn’t been working for sometime.  “Scavenging for parts?”

“No!” 

Secondo had to bite his lip to keep from smiling.  That attitude was pure Emeritus. 

“Do you know any other words?”  With a huff the boy crossed his small arms over his chest, refusing to meet Secondo’s eyes.  “How many other clocks have you taken apart?”

“Three.” 

“And what are these parts for?”  When the boy shrugged, Secondo knelt down, getting a closer look at the small piles of metal scattered around.  It was obvious the boy was looking for something.  “If you tell me what you’re trying to do, maybe I can help.”

“Aldo was having trouble with the stairs.”

“And Aldo is…?”

“My rat.” 

“Ah yes, of course.”  Copia had uncrossed his arms and started to fiddle with the gears he still had in his hands.  Almost as if he couldn’t help himself, like his hands needed to be busy at all times.  “Why don’t you take me to Aldo and I’ll see if I have any ideas, eh?”

“Are you good with machines?”

“Si, very good.”  Secondo held out a hand, stifling another laugh when Copia dumped the gears he had been playing with in it.  “I’ve even built my own airship.”

“Really?!”

“Really.  Maybe if we sort Aldo out I’ll take you to see it.”

I actually was sooo surprised by Palamedes missing Harrow!! Sometimes it feels like Muir retconned the fact that it’s GIDEON who made friends, because she is almost never missed and in Nona it’s obvious that they were waiting for Harrow to wake up.

Like Kiriona makes Sex Pal joke and the characters don’t act relieved or sad, and overall act like they don’t care for her even when it’s so evident that Gideon cares and is happy to see Palamedes in Nona, but Pal misses Harrows frown? For real? What’s up with that?

It feels very like “she is not a necromancer so Pal doesn’t care as much and Cam is not really in the place to care about anyone because of the horrors”, but that’s not who Palamedes is. Can definitely liked Gideon a lot. I feel like Muir herself sort of maybe actually contributes to that thing that “Harrow is overrated” anon is talking about.

Harrow is great, don’t get me wrong and I loved how Muir wrote her mental illness, but also Harrow never faces consequences of her being a major bitch if you know what I mean. Harrow acts horrible to most people that she meets, excluding like John who is literally a God. And yet she is treated like the most precious beloved by the other characters. Which is fine but also maybe a lot? Like she is also gods favorite??? And the Earth thinks that she’s special? What else? Should The Universe appear and kiss Harrows ass also?

It’s just not that balanced, I think. Like some of these people were supposed to show preference to Gideon over Harrow on the account of the fact that it was actually Gideon who made friends with them while Harrow was burning herself out and being horrible to everyone.

Ooooh, the "I miss Harrow terribly" line! I thought it felt very #meta. You're right that Palamedes was Gideon's friend before he was Harrow, and they really barely interacted, but in HtN he was absolutely overjoyed to see her. He spent months trapped in the River bubble and she was the one who gave him the opportunity to communicate with Camilla and return to the world. I think that retroactively made him fonder of Harrow than he might have been otherwise. Also, I think that taking care of Harrow's body for six months and seeing Nona behave so differently and carefree played a part, too. Like, I don't think that line was completely random, but I think it was there also to be a wink to the readers.

Team Pal not missing Gideon! You're RIGHT on this one. I think Kiriona's appearance really threw them off; Camilla had just fought a duel nearly to the death to get a chance to steal Gideon's body and then! surprise! Gideon's body is walking and talking and calling herself a Prince of the First House, and she's enormously bitter and nowhere as easygoing as they remembered. I think their reaction is understandable; they'd built up Gideon as this friendly, selfless paragon of virtue in their minds, and she wakes up as they're about to draw blood from her dead body and acts thoroughly pissed off. tbh, that's the same reaction many readers had to Gideon's reappearance in NtN, so I get it! It makes sense! It does make me want to hug her though.

On Harrow not facing consequences: I think she does, though? Like, she is miserable for her entire life. She hates herself, she blames herself for her parents’ deaths, she has actively been sucidal. She does make Gideon’s life hell, but frankly even with all of her issues and absolutely abusive upbringing, I think Gideon was less fundamentally unhappy than Harrow was. Yeah, she doesn’t face “narrative” consquences, but I think the fact that she lobotomises herself to preserve Gideon’s soul shows that she knows she owes Gideon a lot.

Also! I’m very curious how Harrow being Alecto’s favourite is going to turn out in AtN. Because John was also Alecto’s favourite, and her love ultimately corrupted him. I’m not sure if being loved by a wrathful deity is necessarily a good thing. And John IMO was genuinely very fond of Harrow, but a lot of that was because she offered him the unconditional admiration and worship that he craves (and didn’t stop him from manipulating her though arguably that’s how John shows affection) (Also. I have a theory that John wouldn’t have liked no-lobotomy Harrow nearly as much).

Not to throw gasoline on the debate fire, but actually some of what you said re: the narrrative idealising Harrow is how I felt about many of the characters in Nona! Cam+Pal and to a lesser extent Pyrrha, who were framed through a very loving POV and were shown to be well-intentioned and loving and as Good as TLT characters get, which is why I’m dearly hoping for that pedestral to shatter in AtN :3

Can anyone give an idea of why sexual thoughts about these two are objectively bad? 

Ok, first think of the kind of creepy perv who it would scare you to know they are thinking sexually about you. Is it because they look or seem dirty and gross? What does that actually mean? 

Secondly, are they a predator because of it? Are they acting like a predator? Or are they simply thinking private thoughts and you have no idea they’re even doing it other than a hunch? 

And lastly, is the idea of deviant sexuality something that grosses you out, period? 

These three are sounding suspiciously like the subtext of stranger things’ plot. Monsters and prejudice vs an apparently deviant predator. 

The main issue against this blog and the practises it endorses seems to be that people don’t want to KNOW. You can keep your deviancy to yourself. Which is an entirely different branch of the issue than whether it is actually ok to be ‘deviant’ or not. 

If you’re not hurting anyone, what makes sexual fantasy objectively bad? Ok, so maybe it’s the very idea of byler fans being a bit lewd about these two teens. Perhaps it seems like these fans are bad people at heart because they give in to those desires of enjoying byler in a sexual context. Although again that screams to me of the id and the shadow self and the dark psyche - what Vecna represents in s4. Considering that healthy sex/fantasy is enjoyable, pleasurable, fun, why is this considered more perverted than other taboo topics like violence? 

Is it because taking pleasure from someone (without their knowledge, as when fantasising about someone) is considered worse than doing something unenjoyable / painful / bad / violent? Of course sex can be used as violence, but no one here is doing that. Yet still, some bylers think that fantasy is a violation of something akin to committing physical violence. 

I don’t know the answers, I’m just spitballing. It’s just interesting to me, perhaps because I have a background in visual art and in theatre. I’ve got experience discussing and considering works that examine pretty much any taboo you can imagine. For example, there’s a play from the POV of a convicted paedophile in prison. There’s also a play called Sylvia and Sheep or something (can’t remember) but it’s about bestiality. It basically asks why our society considers bestiality to be morally wrong, when only fifty years ago, homosexuality was considered to be just as heinous. The answer seems obvious: animals can't speak and so can't give consent. But the play makes interesting and surprising counter-arguments.

These plays are both controversial works. Not to say I agree with the ideas in practise, but as an artist, I cannot disagree with the examination of those ideas. 

So perhaps people here think that byler can't give consent, because they're too young to know better, or because you're thinking about them without their consent. But you can see how both of these arguments don't hold up considering they are fictional characters, and we are imagining them together, not self-inserting into the narrative. Also, you don't consent to think something lol.

Also to bring this around to the performers in case anyone was still claiming that Finn or noah themselves might be uncomfortable with sexual content for byler, Finn has said his favourite genre of literature is transgressive fiction, which includes authors like Charles Bukowski, who are rather dark and twisted. He said to the audience at the con (who were mainly minors) that these books are not suitable for them lol. 

Also, I COULD use this last as more vague evidence that Finn may indeed be queer but I’m not going to go there

This one time the group stopped off to get some supplies are they came back to see her routing threw all the cupboards

He totally freaked!

He felt so bad!

That bullet was meant for him (and ben) and yet you got shot :(

The guilt he felt was something he was never going to live down.

This man would risk death to get you any supplies you need for your recovery, it’s the least he can do.

It’s so obvious he feels bad like when Katjaa was patching you up he couldn’t look at you for more than a second

After your recovery he tries and shows you how grateful he is!

He’d either tell you that you where one brave kid and he’s very thankful for that

And/or he’d find you some old teddy that he’d think you’d like!

Like Doug she felt so bad!

She was shocked at first but then anger took over and she started screaming at Lilly

She helped you get inside and find anything to patch you up

All the time ever during your recovery you could hear her angrily shit talking Lilly for what she did to you

Like Doug, she was obviously a little guilty and would tell you that she was grateful of what you did but she wouldn’t let the guilt consume her forever

But she’s always looking out for you now more than ever

You were a human, that much was quite obvious, but then why did you emanate such light?

He found himself to be mesmerised, observing you through the windows as you took care of your chores, humming a gentle tune

You voice was irresistible, drawing him in like a moth is drawn towards a light

As you swept the floors, there was a strange feeling crawling up your back of someone’s eyes on you, but as you believed it to be safe in your small home, you paid it no mind

Ever since you were young, you had a certain power it seemed, to lure people in with your voice and almost hypnotise them, but as you were a very sweet soul, you never thought of using this power to your advantage, that would be manipulation

And oh, how you hated the concept of manipulation for its’ selfishness

There were other things too

You could have sworn you emitted a weak light when in the dark and could manipulate said light

And you had this almost protective aura around you? Or whatever it was, you couldn’t be sure, but it did help deflect negative and menacing energies

Your parents didn’t possess such powers themselves, so it wasn’t something hereditary

But then where did it come from?

The deer demon’s shadow made his way towards you cautiously as not to make you notice, reaching its arm towards your neck

But before it could grasp it, the mysterious aura melted its hand down to nothing, leaving it wailing in pain

When you head screeches behind you, you spun on your heel as if your life depended on it, because it might as well since you lived alone and stranger in your home = danger

You saw nothing however, were you hallucinating? Hearing things? Maybe you overworked yourself, or your mind was playing tricks on you?

Yeah, that was it

Leaving the light on in your bedroom for good measure, you succumbed to a deep sleep

To deflect his attack without even realising it with a power you yourself don’t seem to know how to control or know much about, now that was something interesting

And Alastor adored interesting, as it was a change from his life of sheer and absolute boredom

Hey, once you live (or are dead?) for as long as him, you’ve seen it all at some point, or so he thought at least

That protective shield around your body, it almost reminded him of an angel’s holy aura

So, how was he to approach and kidnap you without suffering the same fate as his own shadow, that was the question

Lucky him for obtaining some holy gadgets during the last Extermination

Those bad boys could be altered into nearly anything, cuffs included so if his hunch about you having some sort of holy power was correct, he would still be able to lock you up and use your power to become the ULTIMATE being

For the next few weeks, you felt the eyes on you nearly constantly, only disappearing when you went to sleep

You became so paranoid you refused to leave the “safety” of your residence and yet at the same time, you wanted to run far, far away till the eyes couldn’t keep up with you anymore

Alastor noted the unwillingness to socialize or, at least, leave your room and, as much as he hated to admit it, after observing you for so long he started developing feelings for you

 Your voice, your cute facial expressions, your quirkiness, your grace, your loving heart, he wanted it all

But he knew bringing you back to Hell would make you a prime victim for your abilities

The world of the living wasn’t much safer though, after all the sinners were all once human

So, what he needed to do was take you to Hell and lock you up without anyone knowing of your existence, easy enough

Now, he’ll just have to prepare his home for your permanent visit

When you woke up in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room, your fight or flight instinct kicked in

And since there was nothing to fight, you attempted to flee

But the doors wouldn’t budge no matter how strongly you slammed into them, and the windows were barred up

You started hyperventilating as it seemed to your panicked mind that the room was shrinking

A gentle tap on your shoulder set alarms off in your head

You KNEW for a fact that you woke up alone in the room and you didn’t see anyone come in through the doors

“There is no need to be scared, dearie!”

A staticky voice said, as its owner kneeled down in front of you

“Alastor, pleasure finally meeting you sweetheart, quite a pleasure!”

“You still complaining? I haven’t eaten and I also lost my favorite show on my only day off, just cause your ass still can’t use a washing machine despite me explaining it to you several times! Now take it and let’s leave!” You furiously replied while getting up from your seat

“Yes” he quietly followed, shocked by your sudden outburst

“Your total will be $49,90” the shopping assistant almost whispered, scared by the two of you who just gave a show

“Thank you have a nice day!” you warmly smiled while heading out

“What?” You snapped, now sitting on a bench just to relax a bit, as some kids were playing near the fountain

“I’ve accidentally bought two so…” he mumbled facing away, while handing you a sandwich

As you were munching the tasty bread, you were looking at the shops around you

“Do you like chains?”

“W-what? What do you mean?” he caughed, almost choking with his food, taken aback by your question

“See those trousers over there? I feel like you might like them” you simply said while pointing your finger to a mannequin in a shop

“Didn’t know that it could be an item. Do humans nowadays integrate clothings with weapons? It’s a great idea”

“That’s not a weapon, it’s an accessory”

“Yeah, a deadly accessory”

“No! Jeez… let’s just get in and have a look, and don’t complain this time!” you said unwillingly pulling his arm

"It looks good tho, people love it!” you insisted

“I still don’t really get it, how did my kimono turn pink?” He suddenly asked as you were putting your keys back and placing the bags on the table

“Well, did you mix it with something red, perhaps?” You asked while taking your shoes off

“No! I’m not stupid! I’ve already done that mistake once and I’ve learned my lesson” he replied following you, remembering how scary you looked that day: it was one of the rare times where he saw you with a completely different aura, that wasn't bubbly and warm as usual; shivers running down his spine at the thought

“You messed up my favorite t-shirt, you know how difficult it is to find such a great item for me?” you asked annoyed, that story still bothers you. It really was you favourite and he ruined it with his red sock

“Again, I didn’t know, but I swear, this time It wasn't me!”

“Fine let me see…" you rolled your eyes as you headed to the bathroom to check what happened to the washing machine

"...nevermind, guess the machine is broken!” You hurriedly replied

“What’s wrong?” he asked leaning on the door

“What are you hiding?”

“What’s behind your back?”

“Nothing”

“Let me see”

“No” you said, quickly running away from him

"What is-...is that yours?" he asked confused, his ears turning to the same colour of what you were holding

"Well it depends, do you happen to wear panties too?" you genuinely asked, making his face turn even redder

A/N - Ok, this came out of nowhere, but when inspiration strikes!

You feel like an awful person. But it wasn’t like you’d gone out for the sole purpose of bumping into him and it’s also not your fault that he’d stuck around, bought you a drink and spent the last hour and a half talking with you.

The him in question is your ex’s best friend, Jaehyun. You see, you hadn’t exactly ended things with your ex Jungwoo on good terms, so you really shouldn’t be enjoying hanging out with his best friend right now. But Jaehyun just feels so familiar and, damn it, you’ve missed him a lot. You really are a shit person indeed. Because, despite knowing that if this gets back to Jungwoo it will cause an argument between them, you’re having too much of a good time with Jaehyun to turn him away.

The way Jaehyun smiles down at you so affectionately brings a warmth to your cheeks. You didn’t think it was possible, but he’s grown even more handsome since you last saw him.

“We should hang out more.” His words rip you out of your thoughts, making you almost forget how to breathe.

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea…” you reluctantly shake your head, your gaze faltering away from looking at him to focus on your drink instead. You hear Jaehyun sigh before taking a step closer to you.

“I get it, I’m your ex’s best friend.” Jaehyun begins, successfully getting you to look back up at him once again. You watch as he slowly leans down closer to your ear. “But doesn’t that make it all the more fun?”

Your breath hitches in your throat, eyes going wide and heartbeat racing out of your chest as Jaehyun pulls back to reveal the please smirk that adorns his face. His words on the surface are innocent enough, but his tone tells you otherwise. And his smirk, well it’s daring, conveying a promise of more than just friends.

He’s cheeky. Jaehyun is a little like playing with fire. Being with him this evening had felt really electrifying and you know, buried deep down under layers of guilt, you want to keep seeing him too.

It’s two days later when you next see Jaehyun. This time deliberately, which makes it all the more nerve wracking.

It’s not like you don’t want to see him, because you really, really do.

It’s just, what if you get caught?

“You look like you’ve just seen a ghost.” Jaehyun’s first words instantly melt the tension in your shoulders away. How does he seem to so effortlessly calm you, without even trying?

“Maybe I have.” You lightly laugh, plopping yourself down into the seat opposite him.

The coffee shop is buzzing with life and the warm aroma of freshly ground coffee floats in the air.

“I took the liberty of getting you an Americano.” Jaehyun smiles.

“You rememberd my favourite.” You beam back at him, your heart skipping a beat because of his kind gesture.

“How could I not? You literally always had one when you would visit.” Jaehyun teases, picking up his own drink in the process to take a sip.

Your eyes flutter shut as you savour the first mouthful of the perfectly balanced coffee; just the right amount of bitterness mixing in with the smooth. And when your eyes reopen, you find Jaehyun already watching you.

It’s a little intense, the way he observes your every movement. You’ve never known him to be so unashamed of being caught. There’s a fire burning behind his eyes, it’s fierce but comforting. His quiet confidence was always something you found extremely alluring about him when you were with Jungwoo.

“Good?” His question seems pointless at this point, he knows the answer already.

“Incredible.” You nod. “Thank you.”

Reclined back in his seat, he looks almost too tempting. A hot flush creeping up the back of your neck, tinting your skin a light red. You just hope it isn’t obvious.

The third time to see Jaehyun, he’s standing at your front door. You’re not even sure how he knows where you live, but you’re not complaining. You’re happy he’s here.

“I just wanted to see you.” His reply is casual as he takes a seat on the sofa in your small apartment living room. Outstretching his arms on either side of the back of the sofa, the first of his cheeky smirks surfaces on his face. “Why, did you not want to see me?”

He knows the answer. But your shy smile and inability to look at him directly confirms his assumptions.

“I always want to see you.” You mumble, taking a seat beside him.

You keep a friendly distance between you, not completely sure of what your dynamic is anymore. Of course, you really want to shuffle up right beside him, leaving no space between your bodies. Maybe even cuddle into his side and lay your head on his chest… but you don’t have to guts to make the first move.

“It’s ok, I don’t bite.” Jaehyun can sense your hesitation, so he moves his arm to rest on your shoulder and pulls you into him. And that’s where you stay for the rest of the night, cuddling with him while you talk away about anything and everything. It’s always so easy with Jaehyun, you feel safe in his presence.

You could have happily stayed in his arms forever.

Your fourth encounter with Jaehyun isn’t as sweet as the third. Actually, you wish you could just run away, or the ground could open up and swallow you.

You’re doing some grocery shopping, minding your own business as you search for your favourite crackers when you hear his familiar laugh. You instantly look around the isle in search of him, freezing when you see him walk around the corner and down your isle with Jungwoo.

“You should have seen-” Jaehyun’s sentence cuts off, the smile falling off his face when he spots you.

“(Y/N)?” He hears Jungwoo utter in disbelief.

It all happens so fast. From the second you spot them both, to Jungwoo saying your name, to him then walking over to you in the middle of the snack isle.

“It’s been so long, how are you?” Jungwoo is ever the kind, sweet natured guy you remember, and the friendly smile he sends you makes you feel a little more at ease. He’s definitely matured a lot since you last saw him, you can tell from the fact that he has approached you first and seems happy, at least on the surface, to see you.

It’s a tricky one, yours and Jungwoo’s relationship. While you’d dated him for two years in college, you were the one that initiated the break up just after you’d graduated.

It wasn’t because you didn’t love him anymore, but because you’d grown so much since you’d completed your degrees. The full-time working adult lives you had just begun living we’re sending you in opposite directions and you found yourselves having less and less time to spend together.

“I’m ok, been busy.” You grow more awkward the closer Jaehyun gets to where you are both stood. “What are you guys up to?”

“Oh, well, I’m forcing Jae to hang out tonight cause he’s been spending all his time sneaking off lately.” Jungwoo jests, lightly elbowing Jaehyun who is now stood by his side.

You hope he doesn’t notice the strange feeling in the air, or the way that Jaehyun is looking at you.

“You remember Jaehyun.”

“Yeah, it’s been ages.” You’re practically tongue tied at this point.

“Actually-” you almost forget how to breath when you hear Jaehyun finally speak up. “We bumped into eachother a couple weeks ago. (Y/N) was at the same bar I went to with Johnny.”

Jungwoo doesn’t seem phased by this information. Which is a huge relief. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that he could easily figure things out. After all, you both know that while Jungwoo likes to come off as unassuming and playful, he isn’t stupid.

“Oh yeah, I’d forgotten about that.” You force a laugh, hoping to play it all down.

“Well, I should get going. But it was lovely to see you both.” You smile, exchanging goodbyes with them before hurrying away as quick as you can.

“(Y/N), wait up.” You hear him call you as you walk down the street.

“What is it Jaehyun.” You want him to know you’re not impressed with his antics, so you keep your tone flat and expression uninterested.

“I just wanted to tell you how beautiful you look today.” He winks, before walking back into the store where you presume Jungwoo still is. You can tell by the confidence in his walk that he’s proud of himself, and you don’t know if you should be flustered, amused or still pissed off at him.

Jung Jaehyun really is confusing.

By the fifth time you see Jaehyun, it’s two days before Valentines. You know because you are sneaking around to the apartment he shares with Jungwoo to post his birthday card through the door.

“He’s not here, if you want to come in.” You turn around in surprise when you hear Jaehyun call out to you. You hadn’t intended to be caught, let alone be invited into his place, but here you are.

It’s a strange feeling being at your ex’s boyfriends apartment, but hanging out with his best friend. So many memories, good and bad, flashing across your mind.

You remember one that includes Jaehyun. You were in the kitchen with Jungwoo, tears of laughter streaming down your cheeks as you and Jungwoo decided to bake some cookies together.

You hadn’t thought much of it then, but you remember Jaehyun retuning for class to find you both with flour in your hair and throwing raw cookie dough at each other; even if you’d cooked it it wouldn’t have been edible anyway.

It was when things had calmed down and Jungwoo had gone to the bathroom to clean himself up when Jaehyun silently began helping you clear up. You didn’t realise that you’d stopped cleaning, instead watching him, until Jaehyun had paused to look at you with a cheekily knowing grin.

You’d be lying if you’d said that you hadn’t found him attractive back then too, who wouldn’t? But, there was something about the way he looked at you, an admiration behind his eyes that he could never express to you because you were his best friends girlfriend.

“Feels strange being back here huh?” Jaehyun breaks you out of your zoning out, once again being able to know exactly what you are thinking without even trying.

“I think I should go.” You mumble, beginning to turn back around towards the front door. You’ve only been here for a few minutes, but it’s long enough for you to feel like you’ve overstepped boundaries as an ex.

“But you just got here.” Jaehyun’s voice is soft, his hand grabbing onto your wrist to keep you from leaving. It’s evident he doesn’t want you to leave, but what if Jungwoo comes back early and finds you? What happens then?

“I shouldn’t be here.” You shake your head, your voice cracking a little as you struggle to hold back the emotions that begin to overwhelm you.

“Shhhhh it’s ok.” Jaehyun whispers, pulling you into his embrace and wrapping his arms around you. You accept him without any protest, finding peace and warmth in his arms. “Do you know how long I’ve wanted this? To be here with you, in my arms instead of his?” Jaehyun’s words make your stomach flip.

“How long?” You whisper into his chest. You know he’s smiling down at you from the way his chest vibrates a little from his hushed snickering.

“Since Jungwoo first introduced you as his new girlfriend back in second year of uni.”

There’s a drawn out pause between you, no more words needing to be exchanged as you stay in each others hold.

“Look,” Jaehyun breaks the silence, pulling away from you so he’s able to look you in the eyes. “I really like you and I know you’re my best friend ex. But it’s almost Valentines Day and I really want to ask you out.”

You’re speechless.

Of course, the last few times you’ve been with Jaehyun you have noticed how there seems to be something between you that is undoubtedly more than friends. But you’d never thought he would actually ask you out because it oversteps a boundary in his friendship with Jungwoo. But, having feelings for you and knowing that you are out of bounds only made Jaehyun want you even more.

When you first unexpectedly bumped into him in the bar all those weeks ago, you’d assumed it was a one off; a by chance encounter. You’d given him your number at the end of the night thinking you wouldn’t ever hear from him again. But then he’d asked you for coffee and you couldn’t say no, you didn’t want to say no.

When he’d randomly turned up at your front door, you thought you were dreaming. Simply hallucinating being with him because that’s all you could think about for days on end.

Then the grocery store encounter left you feeling confused. Your anger towards how he’d been giving subtle signs that you could be the one he’s sneaking off to see in front of your ex made you so mad. But how he chased after you just to tell you how beautiful you looked made you turn to putty in his hands.

You know how you’ve felt about Jaehyun all along. So you nod your head in answer to his question. Laughing heartily when he picks you and and spins you around in pure joy.

You’re not sure how Jungwoo’s going to take it when he finds out. But, playing with fire is dangerously fun. And as long as you’ve got Jaehyun by your side, you know you’ll be ok. Whatever happens, you won’t get burnt.

Fritz face lit up when Baby noticed him though it was hard to tell with the mask, he was so happy he was bouncing in place.

“Yeah! I’m so glad we get to have a new friend join us,” the boy began swinging his and Edna’s arm as he talked, the woman didn’t seemed to be bothered by this action.

Neither Edna or Lolbit had the heart to tell him that this was a trial run for the clown.

“I told the others about you showing up. Foxy felt kind of sad he couldn’t say hi but he had to charge so he can visit later,” the boy told the clown as he rocked back and forth on his feet though his hand kept a good hold on Edna’s to make sure he didn’t fall, it was obvious that he had a hard time staying still.

Fritz’s boundless energy gave Baby cause to smile, bending down so she was close to eye lever with the soul before talking. “Well, I’ll be sure to say hi to your foxy friend a little later, alright? Also, if things end up going well, I might have a few friends of my own to introduce you to down the road. Won’t that be fun?”

Edna’s hold on Fritz’s hand tightened ever so slightly when Baby bent down, her eyes glancing at the stomach area on the clown before she looked back up at the bot’s face.

“It’ll be so much fun!” the boy responded with excitement, not noticing Edna’s grip get tighter. “I’m sure everything will go great if Edna’s helping you,” he told the large animatronic. “She’s super smart and nice too! She is like a doctor but for robots!” he was talking as if the woman wasn’t standing beside him and holding his hand.

Edna’s cheeks turned a bit red with embarrassment as she rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly with her free hand. “It is my job to make sure everyone is in working order and ready to make the kids happy,” the woman said with a small smile on her face, technically she was supposed to be just a guard but she fixes the animatronics on her own time.

“Speaking of working order. Baby, before you’re fully ready to perform Edna is going to have to give you a check over,” Lolbit told the clown, while they hated the idea of Edna being anywhere near the robot the check up was mandatory. “Just to make sure that everything is where it should be and to make sure it stays that way.”

From what Baby could tell, Fritz was a really sweet kid! All energetic and giddy, just the type of kid her performances needed! Just the type of kid she could- ‘No, don’t focus on that.’ Baby thought, suddenly going back to hr old height. ‘If I do that, it’s game over-besides, I promised I’d never do it again…not after what happened last time.’ When Lolbit mentioned a check up, the robotic clown sat almost intantly, looking at Edna with a sort of worried look. “If it’s needed to make sure I’m working right, go right ahead! Just…be careful, OK?”

Edna was quick to notice the change in Baby and instinctively pulled Fritz a bit closer, giving the boy a calm smile when he looked up at her confused before returning his attention back to the clown.

“Fritz why don’t you go play with the others while Edna works,” Lolbit suggested with a cheerful tone, they didn’t want the kid to see anything if things take a turn for the worse. ”I’m sure Foxy is getting lonely in his cove without his first mate.”

“OH! Okay! Bye, Ms. Baby!” the boy let go of Edna’s hand and waved to the clown before taking off out of the room, no doubt to spend time with his favourite fox.

The woman let out a quiet sigh of relief once Fritz was out of the room and out of earshot, he might have already been a spirit but she still worried for his safety.

“I’m not sure how they did things at your old location but here your comfort is just as important as mine,” the woman state, managing to keep her tone calm despite how scared she was on the inside. “We don’t even have to go to the Parts and Service room if you don’t want to,” she added while fidgeting with her bag strap around her shoulder.

‘Don’t worry. As long as I won’t any harm come to you, sis,’ Lolbit’s voice echoed in the guard/mechanic’s mind which seemed to slow her fidgeting.

Baby made sure to wave goodbye as Fritz ran off, hoping to bump into the little guy after her check up, which reminded her something as her right eye slowly changed from blue to green. ‘Liz, when do you think you’ll feel like coming out?’ ’…’m not sure, the kids sounded nice, but I’m worried about Edna. 'Look, she seems to have good head on her shoulders, and the kids sound friendly, so why not take the risk? Besides, getting to know some other kids like you could end up helping.’

Edna waited patiently for Baby’s response though a part of her really wanted to get the check up over with as quick as possible, she was to busy keeping herself calm to notice the clown’s eye change.

Lolbit, however, did notice it and the white dots in their eyes turned into horizontal slits, as if squinting. They didn’t remember anything about Baby’s eyes being able to change and they’ve went over the blueprints multiple times with Edna, something wasn’t right though they didn’t want to worry the woman any further.
