why do people still keep doing the "women and femmes" crap when we all know they mean "afab people who have not medically transitioned"
#or just replacing the word woman witj 'femmes' wholesale#(in english. woman in french is femme but thats not relevant)#like it just obfuscates your meaning bc we all KNOW that butch women still experience sexism; right yall???#i was so confused when i started hearing people use 'femme' as a replacement for woman bc they so clearly are not referring to like... femme#gay men#I've found that its a less-explicit way of saying 'women and afabs' (which people do say)#you Know its just a way of including specific nonbinary people whilst still managing to exclude trans women#i know im not the first person to say this but people keep doing it 😭#just the other week i saw somebody refer to a nonbinary person they knew as 'an amab' (🤢🤢)#and by somebody i mean a self-proclaimed 'afab nonbinary' (all one phrase) person#trans#transphobia#o.#like the implicit exclusion of trans women from Women as a category is ... not a good look. at the very best :|
