April, come she will. When streams are ripe and swelled with rain

The smell of rain flooded your nose as you stepped outside. It was a soggy Sunday morning, and you decided to head to the local bakery. You were craving a chocolate croissant, and since you have no plans today you’re free to just relax. It wasn’t cold so you decided to walk the mile and a half into town, window-shopping as you passed all the family owned shops and restaurants.

As you entered Claire’s Sweet Treats you were greeted with the pleasant smell of sugar, pastries, and vanilla. You had always loved the smell of Claire’s, it reminded you of your grandma’s house.

The bakery wasn’t very busy, which was normal for a Sunday in this town. Everyone sleeps in on Sundays and town isn’t usually busy until noon. You walked up to order your usual, a caramel frappuchino with extra caramel and a chocolate croissant.

As you waited at the other side of the counter your head raised as you heard the bell of the door ring, indicating someone was coming in. That’s when you saw him. He had long brown hair that went to his shoulders and a pretty face. You knew he wasn’t from here, dressed in a button up shirt, with only a few buttons actually buttoned, some skinny jeans, and boots. You had never seen this man before, in your town everybody knew everybody. He stood out.

You continued to watch him as he browsed all the drink options, suddenly turning his head your way, you quickly averted your eyes to the floor. You didn’t look at the man again after that, worried he had caught you staring. That was until you heard your name being called.

“Y/N!” You realized that wasn’t the first time Tyler had called your name, bringing you back from your thoughts.

“Sorry Tyler, just thinking about something, thank you!” You grabbed your coffee and bag from him giving him a polite smile as you made your way to a table near the back. It was your favorite spot because it was right under a speaker, and the bakery’s playlist was quite enjoyable.

You were enjoying your croissant and coffee, listening to If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out by Cat Stevens, when Jake walked over to your table, coffee in his hand with a slight smile. “Is this seat taken?” He asked motioning to the empty chair across from you, as you looked at him, then the chair, then back at him, he caught you of guard with your croissant on its way into your mouth. You shook your head, unable to get any words out as you looked at the man, closer now, with slight confusion. He was even prettier up close, he had warm brown eyes, and he presented himself in a way that drew you into him, eager to know more about this man. He also had a small smirk on his face as he watched you study him.

“Hey, Im Jake. Pardon my intrusion, but I couldn’t let a pretty girl like yourself eat alone, especially not when you look like you want to ask me something,” He reached his hand across the table to you, you noticed a beat up braided bracelet on his wrist, you took his hand while looking at him, a timid smile and slight blush on your face as you spoke, “I’m y/n. And no worries, I don’t mind.” You let go of his hand, his lingering for a second and then going back to his coffee. You had to ask him, you knew he wasn’t from here.

“Did you recently move here? I’ve never seen you before and, no offense, but you don’t necessarily dress like people who live here do. Not that it’s a bad thing though. You look wonderful I just mean that in this town we all dress, well, comfortably, Not saying that you don’t look comfor-” Jake cut you off as you started to ramble by clearing his throat.

“Yes I actually just moved here from Michigan, and don’t worry darling, no offense taken,” He gave you a charming grin as he took a sip of his coffee. Your heart skipped a beat, his smile was breathtaking.

That night Jake fell asleep with a grin on his face, eager to get to know more about this y/n.

May, she will stay. Resting in my arms again

You and Jake had been dating for a year and a couple weeks now. You found out he lived down the street, played the guitar, was in a band with his twin brother Josh, his younger brother Sammy, and their childhood friend Danny, and had an impeccable fashion sense. Now, he often stayed at your house, or you at his. You both enjoyed music, drinking, and being around each other. Right now you were curled up next to him on the couch watching The Outsiders, one of your guilty pleasure movies.

It was getting to one of the saddest parts of the movie, Dally’s death. Jake knew by now that Dally was your favorite, and he squeezed you tighter as Johnny died, knowing Dally’s cursed fate. No matter how many times you’ve seen this movie, you still cried like a baby as he fell to the ground.

“He was a heartbroken teenager Jake. His best friend just died, the only reason he was in the gang was because of Johnny. He didn’t know what to do, he didn’t deserve to die. Neither of them did, Jake.” you sobbed into his chest, him whispering comforting words into your ear, rubbing your back with a small smile on his face, because he loved you and he loved everything about you. How you weren’t afraid to express your emotions, how you always knew what you wanted, spoke up when you didn’t like something. He loved you.

That night you and Jake fell asleep on the couch together.

June, she’ll change her tune. In restless walks she prowl the night

The house was silent as you and Jake were in two different rooms. You two finishing an argument about his upcoming tour and how he was never home.

“Y/N we’re going on tour in a fucking month! Of fucking course im not gonna be home as often, we have to work on our songs, interviews, and getting ready. I have more important things to do than be home all the time!” he yelled at you. All anger previously in your eyes was replaced with shock. Tears welled up in your eyes, and as he realized what he said, how badly his words hurt you, you stormed off into your bedroom before he could say anything. Jake had just told you that music was more important than spending time with you. You understood that music is his passion, but you just wished he’d at least tell you he loved you sometimes.

Jake slept on the couch that night.

July, she will fly. And give no warning to her flight

It had been a week since you moved everything out of Jake’s house. It had been 6 days since you last spoke to him. It had been 8 days since you broke up with him. You loved him, but you just couldn’t take it anymore. It had been 3 days since you rented an apartment in New York. You had 1 more day to pack before you left Nashville.

All of Jakes things that you found in random places in your house were in a box by the front door, ready to be brought over to his house. As you packed all of the boxes in the U-Haul you walked throughout the house one more time. Different memories of you and Jake flooding your brain as you looked around your now empty house.

The kitchen where you and Jake had been known to dance around while baking together. The dining room where you, Jake, Josh, Danny, and Sammy all made gingerbread houses together judging each other’s and eventually ruining the others houses. The living room where you and Jake would cuddle up close and watch movies, listen to music, and just bask in the others presence. Your bedroom, where you and Jake first said I love you to each other, where you lost your virginity, and where you cried when you guys had one of your last fights.

You left the house, driving past Jakes house, dropping the box off onto his porch, with no knock or doorbell ring. You couldn’t face seeing him, your heart was already in tatters. However, as you drove away you could see him step out onto his porch from your rear view mirror, picking up the box and turning towards your truck.

Jake didn’t sleep that night. He hasn’t slept in 8 days.

August, die she must. The autumn winds blow chilly and cold

When Jake got the news that you died he didn’t know what to do. Danny had told him, apparently he kept in touch with you and found out through your mom. You died on the streets of New York City, after trying to help a woman who was being harassed by a drunk man. You had pulled the man off the woman, but he pinned you to the other side of the alley wall, stabbing you with his switchblade.

Jake didn’t sleep that night. Instead Jake cried, and remembered every moment you two ever shared together. And moments that never happened, and now, never could.

September, I’ll remember. A love once new has grown old

The funeral was in September. Jake and his brothers postponed the next few tour dates, heading to your hometown in New Jersey, where you were going to be buried next to your dad.

At the funeral Jake didn’t cry. Josh, Sammy, and Danny cried. Danny comforting Sammy the best he could and Jake comforting Josh. Jake had hugged your mother, telling her he loved you and how sorry he was. She knew how dear he was to you, even after the breakup.

Jake was the second to place a flower on your casket, second to toss dirt onto your casket, and second to give your mother a hug.

Jake cried himself to sleep that night. Everydayhe regretted everything he had said that night. He regrets not stopping you, he regrets not trying to fix things before it got bad. He regrets not telling you he loved you before you left him. He regrets many things, but he doesn’t regret loving you. He’ll never regret the time he spent with you.

The loud steps of Rudy running behind Y/N makes her giggle like a little girl, as she stops abruptly and turns to the panting boy. He has his hair all over the place under his red snapback and honestly his cheeks matched pretty well with its color.

“Jesus!” He groans, cleaning a few drops of sweat. “You’re really making me chase after you.” Rudy jokes, with a smirk.

“Feels like you’re not used to running at all.” She laughs, now walking besides him. “What do you want Rudy, you already came here and I already accepted your apology?” Y/N questions, intrigued.

“It’s stupid and I feel like you are already saying no to it.” Rudy comments while he scratchs the back of his head, he looks around and only a few girls glance and them but they don’t truly recognize him.

“Shot your shoot rockstar.” Y/N mocks him, leaning into a tree, since they weren’t inside anymore.

“What would you say if I asked you out, you know just to make my apology official.” Rudy mumbles his words like a grandma arguing and Y/N swores it’s the funniest thing she’d ever seen.

“I’d say yes probably.” Y/N says softly.

“Really?” Rudy asks, surprised with eyes wide open. “So, will you.. you know... go out with me?” Before he speaks again he clears his throat, sounding more confident.

“Yes Rudy, I will.” Y/N agrees, laughing.

“Now?” He asks after her nice answer.

“I don’t have anything planned.” Y/N gave him a small shy smile.

“Then come with me.” The boy winks at Y/N and gently pulls her into his motorcycle that was perfectly parked.

“What is this?” Y/N asks, afraid. “Where’s your ugly car? Where’s Eugenia?”

“I brought my other girl, thought you may enjoyed this more.” Rudy mocks Y/N this time before handing her a spare helmet. “See, safety first. I already came prepared.”

“Oh god, please don’t kill me.” She whispered before she took her place behind Rudy on the motorcycle.

“Hold on tight, princess.” Rudy said, muffled by the helmet but she still got it and her cheeks burned at the pet name.

Her arms snaked around his torso tightly, with eyes still closed she felt like time was passing by her in a much slower way now that Rudy was driving. It began to feel nice as she slowly opened her eyes and looked around. Y/N recognized the road, it lead to the beach. Smart boy, Y/N thought to herself.

Once she got out of the motorcycle and took off the helmet Rudy previously gave her, Y/N’s legs shoke like jello and it was obvious that Rudy took the opportunity to tease her about it as they walked down the pier.

“C’mon, it wasn’t that bad!” Rudy said, once they sat down in the bench that faced the ocean.

“I don’t know how someone could possible give you a drivers license.” Y/N mocked him with a smirk.

Rudy laughed at her comment and leaned back into the bench, with arms crossed enjoying the view and her company. It felt oddly peaceful and pleasant to be next to Y/N, like he didn’t had to be this rockstar persona next to her.

“What’s your favorite ice cream?” She asked after a moment of comfortable silence. “Mines is a mixture between vanilla, strawberry and lemon.” Y/N said, turning to him.

“Who the fucks like lemon ice cream?” Rudy teased her. “Obviously chocolate is the superior one.” He affirmed with confidence.

“That’s what basic ass people say.” She sassed. “I bet you never had lemon ice cream.” Y/N added.

“And you’re totally right sweetie.” Rudy laughed.

“Wait here, I’m gonna change that today.” Y/N said while she got up.

Rudy watched her walk to the ice cream truck, mesmerized and confused. After a couple of minutes she returned with two cups of ice cream, one filled with lemon and strawberry and the other with chocolate and vanilla. Y/N sat again next to the boy who couldn’t help but to giggle and smile at her sudden attitude.

“Taste it.” She order, handing him the cup of lemon ice scream while she placed the other in the middle.

“Oh dear god.” Rudy said out of breath as he held a spoon. He finally tasted lemon ice scream and once the flavor hit his tastebuds Rudy’s nose scrunched up in tiny wrinkles. It was a mixture of sweet and sour.

“It’s good right?” Y/N asked, eager with her hands next to her chest.

“It’s awful.” He said licking his lips.

“You’re full of shit, no it’s not.” Y/N laughed while she ate her ice cream and Rudy got his cup. “You have weak tastebuds.” She added giving him a side eye.

“And you’re just too stubborn to admit that chocolate ice cream is better.” Rudy said. “Admit it.” He laughed getting closer to her, with his spoon up to her mouth.

“Never in a million years, not gonna happen.” Y/N said, moving her head to the sides to avoid the spoon. They were both laughing so loud that a few old couple looked at them.

Y/N got distracted by a kid running and Rudy took the opportunity to shove, gently, the spoon inside her mouth, which made Y/N jump and glare at him, until they laughed at each other.

“Lemon is still better.” Y/N whispered while she cleaned the sides of her mouth.

“You missed a spot.” Rudy pointed to the corner of her lips. “Here.” He moved closer to Y/N, she could feel his body heat next to her legs as he index finger traced her bottom lip, cleaning off the ice cream. She felt his gaze burn her the whole time while he did it, getting flashbacks from the previous night as her cheeks turned slightly red.

“I prefer sweet things, sugar.” He whispered, looking at her, studying Y/N, while he licked clean his finger.

Chapter 6: Grandma Rudy Arrives (10 Days till Christmas)

Janessa:

I woke up this morning feeling like a weight had finally been lifted off my shoulders. I never knew Vada still held on to that night, I kind of just put it behind me, and moved on. After Grandma Rudy surprised us. We all caught up with her in the living room, Mama and Daddy set her up a room, and we just all went to sleep, I was in pain from Vada’s slap when I woke up. “Damn it that girl can hit” I got dressed for the day and sat on my bed and called my husband on facetime. “Damn baby what happened” Dylan said seeing my face bruised on one side. I sighed. “Vada” I told him. He shook his head. “Damn, yall still beefing?” He asked. I shook my head. “No actually we made amends last night after she hit me” I told him. He smiled at me. “Your still beautiful, right Chase” Dylan said with Chase climbing all on him. “Yesth” He said with his little lisp not paying me any mind. “So I’m thinking fuck it, I should just come over today” He told me. I felt nervous a little. “I mean, yeah everything has calmed over here so far and daddy is happily in a relationship so he wouldn’t care” I said. I heard a knock at the door before it opened. I jumped but calmed down when I seen it was Grandma Rudy. “You scared me” I told her. She laughed and gave me a cup of something. I tasted it then made a face. “It’s eggnog with henny” She said. I laughed. Grandma Rudy always had to be drinking. “That’s that husband of yours?” She said. I nodded slowly but confused how did she know. “You wear your wedding ring like an idiot, if you trying to hide the fact your married child just take off the got damn ring” She said before sitting next to me. She snatched my iPhone. “Oooh I remember him, hey fine white chocolate you remember me?” She said smirking. I see Dylan nod and laugh through the camera. “Let me see that baby, Hey Grandma Rudy’s baby, he so cute, looking like coffee mixed with crème, a latte baby” She said sipping on her drink. I seen Chase look through the phone smiling. “You have a nice ass family Nessa; your daddy is going to kill you” She laughed before handing me my phone back. “Your grandma and my grandma shirl should meet” He said laughing. Grandma Rudy and I were on facetime with Dylan for an hour before he had to go because Chase was getting fussy and needed to eat. “So you and Vada made up?” She asked. I smiled yeah. “Does she know the rest?” Grandma Rudy said. I put face in my hands. “No, and I’m not telling her, it was in the past Grandma, were fine now” I told her getting up. If Vada found out we dated after she left for 2 years, and that I got pregnant, got an abortion she would be pissed at me even more.

Nori:

Ever since, I told Dre. I thought it would be easier for me, and I wouldn’t have to stress about hiding my pregnancy, but shit aint go to good when I told him. I been trying to listen to breathing exercises to calm down when I’m stressed. I heard a knock at my door. “Hold On!” I said. I put on my oversized jacket quickly and zipped it up. “Come in” I said. In walked Janessa. “You scared me Ness” I said. She smiled. “Sorry, How are you?” She asked. I shrugged. “I’m okay, just I’m always tired, he is always moving, I’m hungry. I want cereal at random times, and Doritos dipped in Ranch is like my go too, I just feel by myself” I stressed to her. She sat down on my bed, I sat next to her. She rubbed my stomach a little. “If things get to crazy here, you can come with us in L.A. I will help you” She told me. I smiled. She got off my bed, and opened the door. “I’ll see you downstairs” She told me. I stood up and looked at my mirror, and absurd my baby bump. My iphone started ringing. I noticed the number. I picked up the phone. I could hear him breathing on the phone. “Norielle” He finally said. “Yes”. “I, I want to apologize for blowing up on you, I was caught of guard”. He told me. I felt a tear drop of my cheek. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know how to tell you, I didn’t want to say it through a jail visit where we can’t even touch each other, I really need you right now Dre and you’re in there”. I said through my tears. “Nori, it was still fucked up man, I shouldn’t have questioned you but damn girl you showing, it ain’t like you just found out”. He said. “I was in denial Dre’, I didn’t know how far I was until I went to the doctor, I’m 5months, Im due May 15th.” I told him. “You know what we are having?” He asked. I smiled. “A boy”. I could hear him getting emotional on the other in of the phone. “I um, damn I’m have a son that’s crazy, and you were going to keep him from me”. I sighed. “Dre, I was not going to do that, I was not trying to leave you nothing My doctor said NO stress, I love you, I want us to have this big happy family but first you focus on getting out and I’ll focus on getting him here”. I told him. “I don’t have much time Nori, I love you and my son man” He hung up. “I was going to give you some drank but I see you can’t drink” I turned around and seen Grandma Rudy standing by my door. I was about to cry. “Please don’t tell Grandma” I stressed to her. She put the drinks down and hugged me. “Stop all that crying girl, I’m not telling nothing. I ain’t no snitch baby, I’m here for you. Now having a baby is a big responsibility. They cry, they shit, they take up all your damn time, you can’t drink cause you got to breast honey it’s a whole damn job, are you ready for this?” She asked me. I shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t know, I just know I love my baby already so much” I told her. “Well your still in school, that’s good, you got family that loves, although my daughter will shit a whole brick when she finds out good lord, but I got you baby” She told me. I nodded and hugged her. “Thank you, Grandma,”. “Baby get dressed, we are going out today”. She told me. I nodded and started to finish getting dressed.

Narkim:

I was sitting at the dining room table with Damien and Nylah eating Cereal when Nori and Grandma Rudy came downstairs. “So yall ain’t fucked yet?” I asked looking at Nylah and Damien. Nylah looked at me crazy, Damien smirked. “I mean I have tried” Nylah pushed him. “Boy please” I started laughing. That nigga D was blind asf La-La was feeling him and if he stopped trying to fuck old ladys then he would see how beautiful she was and how she been there for his dumb ass since diaper days but that aint my bizz. “Who fucked what?” Grandma Rudy said. She was lit. “Hey Grandma Rudy you got the juice, that good shit” I said. She winked at me and slid me a cup. “Oh its lit” She held her hand out. “I know you got that green for your granny now” She said. I smiled. “I gotchu G-ma” I told her. Momma walked downstairs looking nice. “Good morning babies” She said smiling. She kissed Grandma Ruby cheek. “Hi mama”. My mama said. Grandma Rudy looked at her suspiciously. “Who been in your draws Rice?” She asked my mama. “Ayye yo Grams nobody wants to hear about who been blowing my mama back out why we eating”. I told her. “Hush up boy how you think all yall got here” She said. My mom was humming around the kitchen, now she boujee, she never eats cereal so we all just stared at her as she made her some all smiley and shit. “Mommy you good?” Nori asked walking in. My mom nodded. “Mmmhm she done met somebody or got her groove back” Grandma Rudy said sipping on her “Special” drink. My mom normally would argue with G-ma but she just waved her off, yeah that’s nasty but somebody done made my mama happy, she aint get home till 2 am after she had been out all day, and Daddy left to go back to his apartment since they announced they divorce, shit was weird as fuck. My iphone started buzzing. It was Mack. I sighed and got up to go outside and take the call. Homie been scaring me since he pulled the strap on me, like made me one to get suited up too, just in case. I ain’t no bitch but I was scared to piss him off. “Yerr” I said. I could hear Mack laughing. “Nigga, don’t yerr me bitch, What happened to what’s up Bossman…anyways I don’t need you to fuck up on my shipment again young blood, I need you at 8pm asap, or I’m pull up on you again and it wont be pleasant, now I been letting you slide cause you my favorite but you missing out on my million dollar deal the other night hurt me, and as of recently I found out that you never got that brick to East Side a few months, but it’s all good just be there tonight get me this money, get me this merch and ill move up your pay and your position” He told me. My heart was racing. “Aight I got you, 8 pm don’t fuck up” I told him. He laughed. “You already know”. He ended the call. I heard the front door open, revealing my Grandma Rudy in her puffer jacket and a scarf drinking her liquor in a coffee cup. “Now I know you aint bout to roll one without your grams” She said. I smiled. “Nah I got you grams”. She nodded. “Nori told me you got yourself a range rover, and a condo in Buckhead”. She said smiling. I nodded. “Yeah, but keep that between us, I been saving at footlocker�� I told her. She started laughing. “MJ used to be saving up at Taco Bell, lying ass nigga he was out there selling them drugs and being a want to be gangsta, I had to bail him out of jail so many got damn times, so I know when my grandkids up to no good” She told me. I passed her a blunt I had already rolled. We sat on the porch. “You know your twin is pregnant?” She asked me. I nodded. “Yeah man its tough for her with her baby daddy in jail and shit” I said. “How he get there?” She asked. I sighed. “Um they found a pack of cocaine in his car like a brick” I told her. She looked at me as I looked towards the drive way. “He was dealing too?” She asked me. I shook my head. “Nah, he like a honor student, Um G-ma don’t tell Nori this but I um I l had got scared cause the cops was checking my dorm for narcotics so I got scared, I aint want to go to jail so I noticed his car door was unlocked. I put it in his car”. I confessed to her. She shook her head at me. “That’s a shame, your sister struggling as it is to keep this secret of hers, you going to have to make this right or tell her, I can keep your secret Nari but you need to be a man and own up to this” She told me. I shook my head. “I can’t right now, she so damn fragile since she been pregnant, she would cut me off, or panic or lose the baby and I don’t want to stress her out, she stressed as is because of me”. I said. She passed the blunt to me. “Well it’s your mess baby, you figure it out”. The front door opened again, revealing Vada, Nori and Michael and Janessa, Damien and Nylah. I quickly put the blunt out. “Damn grandma Rudy you drunk and high?”. Vada asked. Grams shrugged. “Im what yall say lit?” She said smiling. Vada held her hand out. “What?” I asked. She smirked. “Pass me it, shit Im stressed I need to smoke” She said. “You got to share” Michael told her. She smiled. “Ofcourse”. “Aye yall mutherfuckas need to chill this my shit, but ima share” I said. They laughed. I lit the blunt and we all passed it around and we all smoked except Nori and Janessa. “So what’s the move?” I asked. “Well we all about to hit up the mall” She said. I nodded, “Yall have fun, I’m bout to go see my girl” I told them. After we smoked, G-ma, Vi and Mike, Damien and Nylah was smacked. They all got in the car with snacks and shit and pulled off. I started getting ready to go see my girl.

When we pulled up to the mall, the first place we all went was the food court. Nori and Janessa and I split up from Michael, he wanted to get gifts from me and didn’t want me to see. Grandma Rudy ran off cause her boyfriend Charles met her up here. Damien and Nylah went their separate ways, so it was just me and my sisters. “The last time we all hung out like this Nori was like 9 or 10, we were babies now were grown that’s crazy, how have you been Nori, I haven’t catched up with you since I got here” I said to her. She went through her phone and slid it to me, it was picture of an ultrasound. “I’m pregnant, I’m 25 weeks, and I’m having a boy. Oh my God that felt so good to get off my chest” She said. I was staring at her and the picture in shock. I saw her and Narkim when they were born, I helped change them and bath them and I’m fucking shook. “Wow, your going to be a mom” I said in a daze still high. She smiled and nodded. “That’s weird to say, just keep this between yall, I will tell everyone else when I’m ready”. She told us. I nodded. “Where’s the father?” I asked. She showed me and Janessa a picture. “Oh girl he is fine, where are you hiding him?” I asked her. “He is in jail” She told me. I looked at her crazy. “Come again?” I asked. “He was wrongly accused, but he will be out soon” She said. I almost smacked her. “Well, I hope everything works out, I don’t want you out here being a baby mama”. I said to her. “I’m getting married, well hopefully Michael proposed earlier this month” I said. Nessa and Nori smiled. “Oh my gosh Vi, I’m so happy for you” Janessa said. “He wants to have time to tell Daddy, you know how he is” I said to them. Janessa nodded. “Don’t we”. I was curious to know why she was single. “You live alone in L.A?” I asked. She slowly shook her head. “I have a life out there, but right now I’m keeping it private” She told me. We sat and talked and ate our food just catching up on sister shit. “Vada? Vada Richards?” I heard a man say. I bought choked on my juice. “Omari?” I said. He held his arms out for a hug. I got up and hugged him. He smelt so got damn good. “Damn girl you are looking fine as hell, how are you?” He asked. “I’m good, how are you?” I asked. He smiled. “I’m good, I’m sorry about that night when you left, I was hurt, I felt so bad I didn’t know how that happened. I never meant to hurt you” He said. I nodded. “It was a decade ago, Im over it”. I said. “I’m actually here with my sisters, you of course remember Janessa, and this is my baby sister Norielle” I told him. He looked at Janessa. “Hey, Ness” He said. I don’t know why but him calling her “Ness” pissed me off. “Well it’s nice seeing you” I said. He pulled out his phone. “Can I get your number maybe we can meet up again?” He said. “Well who is this chocolate drip?” I heard Grandma Ruby say walking hand in hand with her man Charles. “Grandma, you just going to say that with Charles right there?” Nori said. She waved him off. “Old bat is losing his hearing, Right Charles!” She yelled in his ear. He smiled at her. “See, now who are you?” She asked Omari. “Hi, I’m an old boyfriend, Im Omari” He told her. Grandma Ruby dropped her smile and let go of Charles hand. “Oh you that nigga, that broke my Vada’s heart and then….”. “Grandma!” Janessa said cutting her off. Grandma Rudy stopped what she was saying. “You fine boy but you trifling, plus Vada already has a man and he is way sexier than you keep it in the family having ass, come on Charles” She said walking with him, looking at me. “I um well” Omari said. I awkwardly smiled. “We can maybe catch up on drinks but like she said I do have a man”. I told him. He nodded. We exchanged numbers, we hugged again, and he walked away. Michael walked up behind me hugging me from behind. Nori and Janessa looked at me and I glared at them, they could read that I was telling them to be quiet.

Damien:

“So, who is this girl that you are keeping from me?” Nylah said. Laying on my bed with her feet on the wall. “Nobody, just a little bitch I’m fucking” I told her. She laughed a little. “You like her?” She asked. I shrugged. “I mean I like the way I feel around her, but it’s not love” I said honestly. “What is love to you D?” She asked. I shrugged. “I don’t know, like some real vibe type shit, homies and lovers” I said. She started to get up and face me. “Well you love me?” She asked. I looked at her for a while. “Yes, I do” I said. She smiled. “Like a friend, like a sister, like a girlfriend?” She asked. I sighed. “I just love you, I mean I’d beat anybody ass for you, and kill for you, and like die for you type love” I said to her. She looked at me and then looked down, “I love you too”. We looked at each other for a minute, next thing I know we was making out on the bed.

“I um, I’m sorry La-La” I said to Nylah. She was putting back on her clothes. “Don’t be sorry” She said smiling. I smirked at her, “What are we, what is this?” She asked. I sighed, “Let me think for a minute” I told her. I walked up to her and kissed her. “I got you La and you got me, but if my moms find out we just had sex, you going to Nori’s room” I told her laughing. My phone buzzed, and I see I had a text from Kristen. “I’m outside, back yard.” I read. “I’m be back” I told Nylah. She nodded and grabbed her stuff to take a shower. I ran downstairs and went out the back door. I looked to see if Vada and Michael could see us, but their blinds were closed in the guest house. “Oh you making house visits now Ms. Madison?” I asked folding my arms. She looked at me. “I couldn’t think about our last encounter and I’m sorry for leading you on, can we please just move forward?” She asked. I inhaled deeply and nodded. “Sure whatever” I said. She looked at me shocked. “Really?” She asked. I nodded. “Yeah so you can get gone now” I told her. She stood there. “I um, I missed you” She said smiling at me. “Nah, we not doing this, you good fam you can go fuck the older version of me, and shit” I told her. She started coming on to me, doing that kissing on me shit. I was starting to fall for it. “He said you good!” I heard my grandma Rudy say. We both jumped. “Get your old ass away from my grandson bitch” Grandma Rudy said. She came out there with her henny bottle, and a blunt. Kristen ran off. “Spill it” She said to me sitting at the back-porch table. “I um, Nah you don’t want to hear it” I said to her. She gave me a stern look. “She’s my teacher, we were messing around until I found out she’ dad’s girl”. She started chugging her henny. “I aint drunk enough for this shit” She said getting up. “I aint gon say nothing to you knuckle head ass daddy, lets go inside”. She said to me. I walked upstairs, and I came in my room. “Want to go again?” Nylah said smiling at me. Now I know I got the juice, but damn these females go crazy for D’s D. “Let’s just chill tonight” I told her. She started laughing and nodded.

MJ:

I was up fixing a snack in the Kitchen, I couldn’t sleep since Danielle left place. My mom been out late these last 2 nights like she’s some 20-year-old girl what the fuck is going on in here. “Hey baby” My grandma said. “Hey Grandma Rudy”. I said. She was walking all over the place stumbling. She went to the radio set in the corner of the living room and started playing Boys 2 men “Let is Snow”. She started swaying around. “This my shit!” I nodded and laughed. “Alright grandma lets get you to bed” I said. She shook her head. “Can you take me to Charles house?” She asked. I groaned. “Alright let’s take you to your man’s house”. She packed a bag that she called a “Dick Appointment bag”, my grandma be tripping man. We got in my car and started driving, Charles lived just 35minutes away. “Where Dani?” She asked me. “Um with her family” I said. She nodded. “I’m happy yall still together even after you tried to get back with Gia”. She told me. I shook my head. “Let’s not bring that up grandma” I told her. “What? I’m glad you decided to end that break yall had to go back to her” She said. I shrugged. “I think She’s cheating on me Grandma, she been hiding shit staying out all night” I said to her. She looked at me. “That’s cause you think when yall had that break she fucked around on you too, sometimes women just need a man to be there, you got to be there” She told me. We talked a little bit before I dropped her off. I sat in the drive way of Charles house before I thought about what she said. I drove to Douglasville to Dani’s fam’s house to see her and my kids. When I pulled up at the house, I seen her, and some nigga laughing in the window. I was so fucking mad I wanted to drive through that damn house. “Fuck this!” I banged on the door. The door opened revealing my wife. Her smile went to a scared look. “Malcom, what are you doing here, I told you I’d be back tomorrow” She said. I laughed. “You up here with that nigga with my kids Dani!” I yelled. She shook her head. “Malcom please he’s my cousin” She snapped. “Man fuck you” I said. Chapter 3

Back at the Uzumaki's they are having dinner with the Uchias, as they are talking among themselves Sauske notices how down in the dumps Akamari is

Sauske: is everything alright kiddo?

Akamari(sighs): yeah granddaddy (picking at her food) everything's okay

Sauske: did something happen while you were at Kawaki's house teaching Sarutobi your drawing lessons?

Akamari(surprised): how did you know about me and my drawing lessons....!?

Sauske(smiling): Minato told me...he thought I should know...

Akamari: well to be honest....he wanted to know about my parents....

In that exact moment the room went silent

Sauske: so what did you tell him?

Akamari: that I didn't know much...and he asked if my dad was alive I said yes...but I didn't know him....and he asked what I would ask if I see him again.....

Sauske: so what was your response to that?

Akamari: that I wasn't sure...usually the common questions a child asks her biological father....but then Kawaki interrupted us...

Sauske(intrigued): can you tell me exactly what he told you?

Akamari(tearing up): he only said that my father loved my mother very much and that he regretted leaving me in the hands of my dad...that he thinks of me everyday

Suddenly as Akamari looks up she sees Naruto in tears along with Hinata crying

Akamari: grandma, grandpa....why are you crying?

Sakura(chuckling among herself): idiot he finally said it...

Sauske(smiling among himself): took him long enough....stupid dweeb

Akamari(confused): wait.......why are my grandparents crying

Naruto(smiling): we are happy....so happy

The next morning Naruto and Hinata are planning a picnic weekend with Sarada and Boruto, they go out of the village to go camping and invite Sarutobi

Sarutobi(accompanying them): once or twice...but I won't say I'm an expert...that's just arrogant of me to

Akamari(laughing): you have a sense of humor I've never noticed before....

Sarutobi(blushing): I'm funny to you...never knew you liked to laugh

Akamari: well it's a start of this picnic weekend....

Minato(annoyed): can you two just stop....its annoying the way you two act you know...

Itachi(mocking): and its annoying how you say 'you know' after most sentences

Minato: shut it pea brain!

Itachi: sorry but I have more brains than a pea...moron

Minato(grabbing Itachi by the collar): you want to do this asshole!

Naruto(comming in-between them): alright there will be no fighting....its a picnic weekend let's enjoy it while we can...you two promised no fighting

Minato(letting go of his collar): hmph.....he isn't worth my time anyway

Itachi: glad to see you agree....nimrod

Naruto(as Minato is saying profanities as he's being dragged away): ok that went south...let's go Minato...he's not worth it

They arrive at the camp spot, they set up in a circular position as they set up thier tents, as Akamari is finishing her tent she goes over to help Sarutobi

Akamari(asking): you need help?

Sarutobi: sure, would love that

She helps him properly set it up, he sits and looks at his tent while Akamari sits beside him

Akamari(noticing): you know...your are the same height as the boys...eventhough I'm two inches taller than you....

Sarutobi: well I'm four feet eight inches tall, and your five feet exactly, so your older and I'm still growing

Akamari: yeah, you are....I wonder.... will you be as handsome as your dad and get all the girls or will you be shy and reserved

Sarutobi: I'm not interested in any at the moment....

Akamari: then what's your type? There's has to be someone...

Sarutobi: you are...my type Akamari

Akamari(embarrassed): really...you like a girl like me?

Sarutobi: yea......someone like you would be pleasant to talk to.....and if possible date as well....even...fall in love with

Akamari(changing the subject): well let's enjoy the picnic weekend and have the best three days two nights of our lives

Minato: who wants marshmallows...they are hot and ready to eat

Boruto: oh good marshmallows...haven't had one in awhile

Sarada: put me down for two Minato, and don't burn them like last time

Minato(irritated): mom I'm not cooking them...grandma is...hers are the best compared to mine

Hinata: alright Minato, Itachi would you be so kind as to help your grandmother with the preping process

Minato & Itachi: sure grandmother...we would love to...(teasing) Akamari want some marshmallows for you and your.....

Akamari(threatening): dare you to say boyfriend and see if I don't rasengan you two across this campsite

Itachi & Minato(scared): ok got it...you still want marshmallows?

Akamari(smiles): sure thank you

By mid afternoon they learn to fish to catch lunch for Sarada and Hinata to make

Naruto(catching a fish): wow that's three in a row...

Boruto: guess we're even then....that makes six in total....how many more?

Itachi: don't worry dad I got four that makes nine in total...

Minato: three which makes twelve

Akamari: well I got seven...which makes it nineteen

They look at the bucket...it was seven in total

Naruto and the three boys: showoff...you always catch more than us!

Akamari laughs and notices Sarutobi trying to catch a fish she walks over to Sarutobi trying to help him....the line snaps and Sarutobi lands on Akamari landing face first on her chest

Boruto & Naruto(screaming): OH MY GOD!

Minato & Itachi: WHAT THE HELL GUYS!

Sarutobi(lifting his head to meet Akamari's face): OH IM SORRY! (getting off her as he's turning red) I didn't mean to do that....

Akamari(laughing): your face...as it was lifting....was too funny

Sarutobi(crying): I'm sorry....

Sarutobi runs into the forest and Akamari feels guilty running after him, meanwhile Boruto and Naruto pick up his bucket

Naruto(asking): so how many did he catch?

Boruto: well by the weight of it....twelve

The twins(angry): your lying....there's no way!

Boruto shows him the bucket and there was twelve, the twins were fuming in anger

Akamari(catching up to Sarutobi): Sarutobi I'm sorry....I didn't mean to laugh....

Sarutobi: I hate being embarrassed....it sucks I'm not use to this....I shouldn't of came...!

Akamari: don't say that we are having a good time....I should of considered your feelings more I'm sorry....

Sarutobi out of impulse kisses Akamari on the cheek, Akamari stands there clueless

Sarutobi: I can't just go on like this....I like you Akamari....I really like you

Akamari(embracing him): I know...but I can't return the favor Sarutobi....I don't see you that way...

Sarutobi: ok I'll accept this friendship....for now....until you do respond to my feelings

Akamari(sighing): I really wish you find someone special...I really do

Sarutobi: me too Akamari....me too

They head back to the campsite, Sarutobi feels guilty for kissing Akamari

Sarutobi(thinking): I just made our friendship more complicated... I'm such an idiot

do you have any tips for working with a spirit/ouija board? im making my own and havent worked with one before!

Hi!

So the very first thing I want to do is tag @theouijagirl because 1. her blog did wonders for getting me over my fears using a spirit board, 2. you’ll find a lot more information there. I’m still super new to using spirit boards and don’t necessarily follow all the ‘conventional’ rules. So take what I say with a grain of salt and check out some other sources.

What is a spirit board?

A spirit/ ouija board is another tool of divination. A board uses the alphabet and numbers laid out in a pattern and a planchette to spell out responses from whatever you’re contacting. This can be a super nice, carved wooden board, or a piece of paper and a shot glass. Hasboro games makes a glow in the dark one! As with all divination tools, it doesn’t have to be super fancy or expensive to work.

Spirit board Vs. Ouija board?

I honestly prefer the term spirit board, but as far as I understand, there’s no real difference in the terms. Some people (aka google) say that Ouija comes from the French oui (yes) and the German ja (yes). I have no idea if that’s accurate tbh. I like using spirit board simply because ‘ouija’ has so many ‘negative’ connotations from popular media. It’s all about preference honestly.

About those negative connotations

One of the things that @theouijagirl and several other blogs have pointed out, is that boards are sold at stores and marketed for like 8-10 year olds or something like that. If they were truly dangerous, they wouldn’t be sold as a board game along with Monopoly and Chutes and Ladders. Yes, the media paints a terrifying picture of Ouija boards (Paranormal Activity, the Exorcist...), but as long as you use them safely, you’re fine.

There is the possibility as with all spirit communication, to gain the attention of something less than pleasant. Do the things you normally would, set up wards or protections, be polite yet cautious when speaking, don’t believe everything the spirit tells you, and cleanse your space when you’re done. The board isn’t any more or less dangerous than a pendulum or tarot cards.

What you bring to the board is what you get back

What do I mean by that? This relates back to the Psychologist Carl Jung and his idea of the collective unconscious (Psychology, when talking about a spirit board really? I know but bear with me). This idea is that there’s this huge entity type thing that is the unconscious of all of us, all who have been, all who will be etc, and we have the potential to tap into that through divination.

So using the idea of the collective unconscious: what you bring to the board is what you get back. AKA, what you feel when you go to the board is what you’re going to find in the collective unconscious. For example, if you’re afraid you’re going to go to the board and summon a demon to your house, you’re going to attract a negative entity to your space. Maybe not a demon, because if demons exist, I promise you they have much bigger things to worry about than the witch whose using a spirit board.

If you approach the board with an open mind, you’ll get a much better experience. That’s all I’m saying in this confusing and psychology heavy section.

How do I use a spirit board?

So you have your layout of yes/no, the alphabet and numbers, also a section that says ‘goodbye’ and your planchette (The thing that moves around on top of it)

Some people do a little ritual before they get started, what this looks like and whether or not you do one is up to you. I like to take a few deep breaths and remind myself that I control the experience on my board, not the spirits that come to say hi.

Place the planchette on the board and lightly place one or two fingers from each hand on it. You want to use a light touch to ensure you’re not pushing the planchette around the board. The general idea is that a spirit will use your energy to push the planchette around to spell out its message. If you don’t want it to use your energy, light a candle or have some charged crystals nearby the spirits can draw from.

From there, start asking your questions. I like to start off just by asking who is around and if they have a message for me. You can attempt to call a specific spirit, but keep in mind that the board is kinda like chat roulette. That guy dressed as batman can claim he is batman, but is he really? I’m not saying you won’t contact your grandmother, but use reasoning and critical thinking. Don’t believe everything you’re told. Go about asking your questions/ having your conversation. Remember to be polite, no one likes to be talked to in a rude way. When you’re done, say goodbye. You can keep contacting other spirits or put the board away.

some people say that you have to say goodbye by moving the planchette to ‘goodbye’ then flipping the board over. I just say goodbye and take the planchette off. It’s generally not advised to leave the planchette on the board while not in use.

Who can I contact via spirit board?

part of this will depend on your belief system, but so far the only limitation I’ve come across with who I can contact is people who are still alive. It’s just not really gonna work out that way.

I’ve contacted dead pets, living pets, dead relatives, spirit guides, spirit companions, deities, my higher self... I think that’s it. you can contact any spirit you can think of, but like I said, be careful. It’s easy for spirits to lie and say they are someone they’re not. Use your intuition along with the board to make sure you’re protecting yourself.

Living pets seems to throw a lot of people off, but its super fun. We contacted a friends dog once, and now its a running joke amongst us to say ‘yes, yes’ really fast, because that’s how he would send positive messages via the board. When contacting an animal, just remember they’ll talk like an animal. If you try to contact a chicken, you might not get super coherent responses.

My primary way to contact my deities is using the spirit board as of late. It’s a great way to get a full and clear message from them without having to fuss over the nuances of tarot messages.

Zozo, Mama, and other tricksters and myths

I first heard about Zozo from theouijagirl. The myth is that Zozo is this big scary demon who sometimes takes over your spirit board and just spells that out over and over. Some versions of the myth say they spell out mama.

If you look at a traditional spirit board, Z/O and M/A are the furthest letters from each other. Big, sweeping motions across the board are scary, and the easiest emotion to feed off of is fear when you’re a hungry spirit who wants power. I’m not saying that Zozo does or doesn’t exist, but 99% of the time, if your board is spelling out Zozo or Mama, its a trickster spirit trying to get quick energy from you.

If that happens, tell the spirit that this is your board and that action is not allowed. Ask them politely to leave. If they ignore you, be firm, tell them to leave. Wait for the planchette to move to ‘goodbye’. If you’re inexperienced or shaken up by the event, maybe take a break. Otherwise you can continue by asking another spirit to come to the board. If this keeps happening, definitely take a break for a while. More often than not the spirit doesn’t mean harm, but its better safe than sorry.

Spelling the alphabet backwards or going backwards through the numbers is another myth I’ve seen. Supposedly when this happens and the spirit gets all the way through the letters and numbers, they can leave the board and wreak havoc in the world. I’m not 100% sure I believe this, but I’ve never let a spirit complete the task just in case. It’s a nuisance and a waste of time at the very least since there’s no message in it.

Same thing goes for going to all four corners of the board in a certain order I think? Be safe/ don’t let the spirit waste your time and just ask them to stop/ say goodbye if this is happening.

The planchette leaving the board mid session: Another myth of spirit boarding. I personally don’t think it really means anything. Some say it’ll let the spirit out. I’ve let the planchette leave the board before and point to me or someone I’m with, I think it’s the spirit giving us a hug.

“can you tell me when I die?” spirits lie guys. there’s a huge chance you’re talking to some random spirit named bob who has no idea when or how you’re going to die. Don’t let them scare you with such messages.

Some things you should do

as I’ve said, be polite, be critical, but don’t think that everyone is lying. Ask questions that will help you know whether or not it really is your grandma, and trust your intuition. If it feels weird, or you’re getting inconsistent answers, move on. Always move the planchette to goodbye before you leave. It’s just polite.

It is a good idea to have some rules for the board. What and how many are up to you. Mine are pretty simple: if I ask you to leave, you leave. Spelling Zozo/mama is unacceptable, no going through the alphabet/ numbers backwards. You can have more, you can have less, just make sure you enforce them.

You have the power, not the spirits

This is your board and your experience. You are in control. If a spirit is breaking your rules, its’ perfectly acceptable to say “Nu-uh. This is my board, and this isn’t allowed. Please leave.” If they refuse follow up with. “this is unacceptable on my board. I’ll ask you one more time to leave, if you don’t, I’m ending the session.” Don’t take their shit. Say goodbye. Either end the session fully or just move the planchette to goodbye and start over. I’ve gotten pretty good at getting spirits to go away, but the first few times they’d just come right back and I would have to end the session all together.

The power is in your hands, not theirs. Don’t let them take control.

Parting Thoughts

I still have a healthy uneasiness when it comes to spirit boards that I don’t really have with my pendulum and tarot cards. I feel like that’s pretty obvious throughout this post. Just remember to have fun and not take it too seriously, while still protecting yourself. The spirit board is just another tool for divination, a tool that you control. When you learn how to set your fear aside and use it wisely, it can be the best tool for clear, straightforward answers and great conversation between the spirits that love you.

My car was rear ended while parked in front of my house and insurance has declared it a total loss. We have been going back and forth on the value of the car and have finally gotten them to a value that we agree with but we disagree with how much they are taking off for previous damage to the car.
