ereyesterday our their of pissed suggested getting into an outpatient psychward and told us to think about it. and silver[headmate] made a post on the tumbler saying that this could be a bad idea because somewhat recently i made a hole in a wall and less than a week ago Lyra messed up a cupboard. as if we're the only ones who on occasion damage stuff when angered. this is literally so mean for no reason.

also. a few months ago shinra had an accident with a knife. and we got a fun new 1 inch long scar and possibly a little bit of nerve damage or something. and we were supposed to get some reminder tetanus shot around a month after that since i had no idea when was my previous tetanus shot. and i uhhhhhhh didn't get it since i'm scared of doctors, and it would probably seem quite weird if i went to a doctor about this now

also im sorta balding but. scared of doctors so cant do anything about that

last sunday i was in some social studies class or some other shit. and the teacher said something about how lgbt people were never oppressed in this country. which is a very bold thing to say as someone living in a country in which like a quarter of the area declared itself a "lgbt free zone" and only calmed down a little when the european onion told them that that's probably illegal. and i decided to argue with the teacher a bit. one of the things she said was that sometimes there's dudes in pup masks on pride parades, which invokes disgust and thus should be banned, and. idk why but i kinda expected teachers to have a bit more common sense than 14 year old twitter users. also i came to school wearing a spiked dog collar on a regular basis. [for reasons unrelated to kink.]

well. good thing i'm failing every single one of my classes lmao. at least i won't be invoking disgust in fragile old ladies

this place also invited my abuser into group therapy even after me incessantly telling them "this is my abuser, she will use all this against me" and yeah guess what she did immidiatley after lol

tumblr tips & things!

after growing rlly fast, i just wanted to provide some maybe helpful tips + things you could do if you’re a smaller blog! i am in no means an expert, I am still learning but this is what i’ve learned, specifically abt the mcyt tumblr community

disclaimer you DO NOT have to follow these, these are what ive learned and my opinion, but i think most writers can agree on this

its a lot of info im sorry ajdba but feel free to reblog and add ur own info!

1. tags!

theyre superrr important if you want exposure for your works + writing pieces, just make sure to tag accordingly

meaning: do not cross tag, or main tag, (ex do not tag just dream alone) keep ‘x reader’ content under the ‘x reader tags’

^people get uncomfortable with x readers and sometimes they slip through the filtered tags

my go-tos for tags are mcyt or cc name then the following prefixes- x reader, x y/n, x you, fanfic, fanfiction

if you have a fic for dream, DO NOT TAG george, it makes it confusing

also tags for ur random posts r super helpful because if someone doesnt want to see it, they can filter it out (my talking tag is basilly blabs)

adding a tag for the ppl you interact for! i like doing this cuz i can easily search a tag on my blog to see my prev interactions w/ them (ex. if i interact w/ userA then i tag userA’s username)

2. create some sort of brand

of course u can switch it up, but using ur own theme makes ur work recognizable to others

like mine is my banner- i use it on every of my works + important posts, so ppl can recognize me

banners can be found on the internet or twitter (but pls credit the artist w/ permission) i found mine on google

for super thin page dividers, i use ibis paint (mobile app) and made a super thin canvas (3405x57) and filled it w/ my theme color

3. plspls dont beat yourself up for rejecting requests or feeling uncomfortable

you are not forced to write requests, if they make you feel uncomfortable you can decline

also if you’re not happy with the work, you can spend the time to revise + edit, we will wait for work you are happy with!

+ if you are stuck with some details on writing smth, ask a mutual or others! more brains and more ideas!

4. same goes for writers block & health issues

we all get it sometimes, no one is pressuring you and if they are, its your blog, you decide. and your health matters more

5. the mcyt tumblr community is SUPER NICE

if u wanna be moots aka mutuals (follow each other) literally shoot them any message and they’ll respond so kindly

ive talked to so many incredible moots who I absolutely adore theyre so kind

also interacting w/ moots: they can reblog your work, creating exposure but do not expect reblogs, and same to you we are not expected to reblog

6. please check a cc’s boundaries before writing

@/smp-boundaries has a majority listed, and if not, ask!

7. if u have any questions, just ask!

lots of ppl will not even mind that much, like i said theyre super kind

8. navigation + masterlists!!

super important for everyone to see your rules, works, all put into one spot, it makes it 10x easier

9. backup ur works + asks

tumblr can be glitchy so its always helpful to back up works on google docs or smth similar

having ur whole fic deleted is not fun and demotivating

asks can be backed up by sending them to ur linked email- this has helped loads for me

10. dont worry too much abt likes + follows

all blogs start out small and as you go and keep persisting, ppl will start noticing + following, its all abt perseverance + trust the process

even when fics r rllllyy good, tumblr has its own bad days and u get low notes- dont let this discourage you

11. anonymous asks!

some ppl get nervous and request on anon! personally think theres more requests that way

12. small text or read mores!

internet is a great help w/ this and itll give you guides and step by step instructions

mobile also is a lot harder to make an aesthetic blog, so a laptop or pc or chromebook is super helpful

13. for max notes, post at ‘prime times’

i think the queue tells u when the prime time is to post for ur time zone, but also a google search is super helpful

or, guess and check! trial and error- i did this and found the best time to post for me

once you find it, you can schedule or queue your work so it posts for you!

14. if there’s sensitive topics pls add TW and CW

as writers yes we try to cover some topics that ppl request but we dont want to trigger others, so at the top include TW// (trigger warning) or CW// (content warning) and add a cut or read more

do not put CW or TW on content creators- no matter how bad they are, its rude and dehumanizing

15. Formatting is SUPER important!

if you do not separate your lines of dialogue or paragraphs, chances are people WILL skip over it. it makes it hard to read and sometimes it is’t worth people’s time

rule of thumb is make a new paragraph every time someone speaks and indicate who is talking or make is distinguishable!

if your fic is over 500 words, id add a cut as well! if you dont know how:

on mobile: type :readmore: in a new paragraph and hit enter w/out a space after the readmore

pc/laptop: new paragraph, three dots far right

Smut also def has its own set of rules but i am not a nsfw blog- main things i can say is please add cuts and check for cc’s boundaries

I know people are all picky about self diagnosing but if it's something like depression, in this day and age, and you feel like absolutely shit all the time...then just assume that you probably have it. I don't see a problem with that at all. If it feels like you have, you probably have it. Trust your body. It tells you when it's not working properly.

Finding a therapist is awful. I've actually been trying to start finding a new one. I've been with my current one for over three years now. I really like her but the past few months she's been kinda slipping on some stuff (like showing up thirty minutes late to our appointment and then talking about herself the whole time). I think I did all I could with her and I'd like a new person to start fresh with. Except that I started googling for therapist in my area that deal with what I need and they don't take my shitty insurance and are over $100 per session without it. I can't afford that lifestyle. Everyone is also super booked out. It's like a fight to the death to try and grab a good therapist within your budget. I understand the struggle. THEN if you do finally get one, if they turn out to suck ass, you have to start the process over again. It's so draining. Especially when you're already depressed. Us depressed bitches don't have the energy for that kind of thing! I get it! I'm right there with you <3 I'll give you free therapy. I'm a psychology major college dropout...that's close enough, right??

And don't ever worry about talking about your problems with me. It's literally my favorite thing to do. I love oversharing and talking about mental health with other people. I'll listen to people's issues all day long. That's my jam.

Hi, tee .... its totally unrelated to the blog problem..i had been eyeing an eyeshadow palette combo for a long time and they have slashed the price to like 40% more should i buy it ? I don't actually use makeup a lot and i don't need it unless i have to be at some sort of party or any formal stuff , daily life its a no no to makeup for me ....idk but being at party or anything of that sort now is not possible due to the pandemic and the situation just worsing day by day. So , should i buy it or let it marinate in the shopping cart for longer?

I am in dilemma. I buy a lot of stuff without giving it much thought . What should i do ? Should i buy it when i feel the need or now?

okay tbh my rule of buying make up is to identify my needs whether it would be versatile enough for daily use, night out etc etc, the brand itself whether i like it or is it a new brand im trying, the product itself whether the products formula is typically what i use or is it a new formula and price lololololo

i dont buy palette much bcs i suck at blending but i tend to buy palette that i can use it for EVERYTHING like dinner, date, formal etc etc i recently purged all my make up and i only keep this peach palette from colourpop (cough cough prof geto u see my obsession with peach) and tbh colourpop is the only trusted brand i would buy my palette from be it on sale or not bcs the formula is just good like you can use it for eyeshadow, as eyeliner

plus take consideration on how big the palette is considering like you said we are in pandemic, you probably dont go out often means youll be using less of it, if the palette has too many colours and is kinda a lot, i feel like despite the 40% off it would be a waste bcs recommendation duration to keep eyeshadow is between 6 month- 2 years, shorter if its cream product, so take consideration on that you dont wanna waste your money on something by not using it right?

also another trick i use is to divide the amount of the pans with the price so you’ll get to see how much per pan youll be spending like my peach palette has 9 pans and it was $9 when i got it and when you calculate it is $1 per pan so i said its a bargain and more on affordable pricing 😂 to me i would only spend $1-2 per pan but thats just me being a cheapskate

but then, thats just me. if you really want it, and its been something youve been saving up or you have some extra disposable cash, i say just buy it because you deserve to splurge something for yourself. you deserve a little something and in this rough pandemic, sometimes a tiny parcel could make you happy, does that make sense? i tend to bottle down my depression by making materialistic purchases LMAOOOOO but if youre cheapskate like me i tend to find other cheaper brand thats a dupe to the palette i want, just google “ brand name palette you want + dupe” theres a lot of dupes out there and thats how manage my money with make up bcs im obsessed with buying lipsticks and not wearing them much and they ended up expiring

Charles Yu has a book out called SORRY PLEASE THANK YOU and I've only read one story in it so far but it punched me in the solar plexus. He seems to take situations that are sometimes, like, common to science fiction and then deeply explores their emotional and psychological effects on characters in a very HXH way. The story I read was about a guy who works at a call center where yoou can call someone to basically take over your brain for a set period of time so that you don't have to experience something you don't want to, usually a funeral or something else awful, and how the character deals with that + his relationship with another character.

oh shit, how the fuck did i get this far and not mention gabriel garcía márquez. okay, if you like hxh read the novel ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE by gabriel garcía márquez if you haven't. just trust me. just really trust me on this. after that get a collection of his short stories and read them too.

while at it read jorge luis borges as well. he wrote short stories.

if you like hxh, actually, i'd suggest googling "magical realism novels" and seeing what you find.

HISTORY!! POLITICS!! CULTURE!! OBSCURE GEOPOLITICAL THEORIES NO ONE REALLY HAS HEARD ABOUT EXCEPT FOR PROBABLY GERRYMANDERING!!

i’ll just say it, im a history nerd. I like reading world history and knowing how things happened and why. I think it’s pretty cool. I like reading about politics, how things just connect after you’ve realized the bigger picture. Culture is nice too, and it’s actually one of the best parts of this major!! Also you get to learn at least one language!!!

 And then here comes the theories. There are a lot of them and they can come in all shapes, sizes and forms, and most of the time, they’re kind of too “out-there” to actually make sense. But when you could finally understand what the authors are trying to say (bc political book authors are sometimes not the best writers... fck u Heywood...), it’s such a rewarding epiphany.

The thing about this course is that, you shouldn’t take it if you’re not interested in these kinds of things because it could get reallyyyyyy boring. While I do love the topic, i have to admit I might’ve slept in class a few times.

MEETING LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE!!

This is the course that I actually met Leanne, who is one of my most trusted and closest friend ever. We just clicked, especially with our opinion on things and our love for History and Politics!!! We actually share our thoughts a lot of times, and we often stay talking for so many hours bc we just have a lot of things to share lmaoooo She’s really interested about Israel and the Middle East, while I have a lot of thoughts on East Asia. 

It depends on your batch tho. Our classmates on the other hand seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else. They’re not particularly interested in the subject, and was just working hard for the grades. It’s understandable but a bit disappointing that only Leanne, Me, and another guy who’s pretty much proclaimed himself as a communist are the only ones who seemed to be enjoying. 

MORE POLITICSSSSSSS

I really like how this course had widened my perspective on things, especially with how society has become more politically active. I used to be so vocal about my opinions, but after graduating, I just realized I often only know one side of things, and I shouldn’t really be too hasty/harsh with my words or even share them at all, when I don’t really know anything. 

Contrary to popular belief, it’s up to you if you wanna go to the route of political activism, and you will definitely encounter it at university. I myself can’t handle it bc it affects my mental health so badly, I’d rather not do something triggering. 

But!!! But!! But!! THIS COURSE ACTUALLY HELPED ME A LOT WITH WORLDBUILDING IN MY STORIES!! Since I’ve been learning a lot about countries/nations and how they work and why they do the things they do, I can use the same theories to make my own worlds more realistic in a sense. 

I usually follow something like a Dialectic Materialism triangle (i heard it was by Marx but not sure!!! i dont wanna google at 2AM anymore) which explains that society’s decisions/inclinations/preferences are determined by its economics. It makes sense in a diagram hahahha I use it to make sense of why people in my stories think they way they do!! 

Even if you were asking me about what I love about this, I’m not sure I can say anything without telling you the bad sides of it. Like I said, if topics like Politics, History, Economics, Theories, etc. doesn’t interest you, you really shouldn’t take this course. The same thing happened to our classmates. It’ll be like living hell. Because it’s not an easy major, even I hate it sometimes. You always have to read and read and read!! The course doesn’t stop at the material/book given. You gotta hit the library and find books about certain topics and follow the daily national and international news. It’s still a habit of mine I’ve brought to this day!!

The professors are shrewd, strict and downright mean (in our case), which I dont blame them for. The Diplomatic corps is a freakin hellhole if you’re not prepared to take in all the stress of constant work, anxiety of not making up to the standard (which is pretty high), and the whole dynamic and ever-changing nature of the tasks, you’re gonna go crazy. And I mean it not in the metaphorical sense. I was intern at our foreign ministry and I’ve heard stories. 

But, that’s only if you plan on joining the Diplomatic corps lmaoooooo the major is such a worthwhile thing to take! It widens your perspective, and makes you more open to different political opinions ( i mean, you get to understand why people believe the things they do, because it is determined by a lot of factors), and it’s super helpful in my writing!!!

Finallyyyy,,,this major taught me something I always abide to now: “Cool head, Warm Hearts”

there's a ton of comics for this continuity that u can read later if yr interested (they're not like. As Gay when it comes to the amount of content but Optimus Prime the series not the character did get the first ever on the mouth f/f kiss) but mtmte/lost light is easy to follow as a standalone and it's where i started with tf (besides tfprime, a 2012 cartoon, too het but the robots look pretty good so it's fun to watch after yr already in tf hell and want content). plus it's the one with the most gay robots & two r trans lesbians who r married. they're good

u can still buy & read them on IDW's website i think? i read all of it on Comixology, but they're owned by Amazon so like

u can also just google read free online like it's 2007 & yr looking to read sailor moon or whatever, there's decent websites for it & no one will judge u

uhhh i think the next best place to start would be Lancelot and the hart with the white foot. its a dutch text and short but its so good... i adore this text maybe just cus i spent months hunting it down but i do love it to bits. it takes one of the most commonly used root stories and makes it about lancelot <3 so like poggers (heres a link to my scan of that) 

from there ...... i bully him a lot but chretien de troyes Knight of the Cart is one of his good works and honestly really fun (tw for suicide tho like please be careful of this bit. i feel like trigger warnings arent talked about a lot in regards to arthuriana but they are needed here. no one actually dies but its good to know). 

i have a link to the doc with all of his works, but i personally have a version on google docs to fix the main issue i have with that pdf (very low visibility, SUPER long paragraphs with no spaces) also i changed a few words i think . dont remember exactly. (heres my easier to read version) (heres the source) 

its a bit longer and more dense but i also really like lanzelet :-) itsss the german version of some of the older lancelot tales and its just kinda funney. lancelot gets married a bunch and then at the end just lives out his life with sebile . wlw/mlm solidarity u think . dm me for that one i dont have the source of the pdf on hand whoops

uhhhm from there there are the longer two works that include him (the vulgate cycle+its additions which arent worth it, and le morte d’arthur) 

the vulgate is hard to get but pm me i have the first bit scanned if youre interested. its long and goes into more depth about lancelot as a person than any of these. 

le morte is le morte. its kinda the most well known text and while on one hand i love it, you shouldnt read the full text first. i say this as someone whos read both versions, but keith baines has a shorter and more succinct rendition and makes it way more fun. if you do wanna read the original text go for it but its like 900 pages and most of it is a slog to get to the fun bits. 

we have. half a scan of baines but honestly ill sit down and do that this week and get teh full thing up if anyones interested. u can aslo find the full text on project gutenberg here. 

uhmmm other than that lancelot just kinda appears in other shit mostly without much involvement. i like him in Morien which is a short and sweet dutch tale, i like him in most the dutch tales really. the dutch are sooo good ill grab reys post on how to read those too. uhmmmmm hes in some renditions of the prose tristan which i think is funny, and hes in my personal favorite of those(/the only one ive read) the povest in which he and tristan r dumb homos. wait threes also Lancelot of the Laik but im ashamed to admit i havent read that one. i do have it on hand tho so hmu.  

for something more modern uhm the only modern author i trust is Richard Hovey (modern is being used loosely here). his short verses and his longer verse project on arthuriana are both just so beautiful. The last love of sir gawain i think is especially killer (:-)) but also Lancelot and Guenevere, a poem in dramas is literally maybe one of my favorite works ever. its nice. ill hunt down a copy if anyone asks. if not hovey, robinson’s Lancelot from 1921 is so beautiful it made me cry a lot. its longer but so . SO good. ive made a comic of a bit of that one too OIET$PWGJYH.

ah hi gobs!!! sorrry this took so long to get back to! yes i would love to offer some tips 

ok first one and i hate this but (•ˋ _ ˊ•) unfortunatly . what is ur caffeine intake like? maybe cut down on that, it helped me a lot 

tea before bed is so nice!!!! some good relaxing ones that are my fav are Honey Vanilla Chamomile, Kava Kava (this one is uh not for everyone, it makes your mouth numb and has some weird kinda stoned effects, very mild but nice and relaxing, but google it before hand and ask ur doc etc etc), same with Blue Lotus tea is like that, i love Sweet Wild Orange tea also! tea is very relaxing and i reccomend IM NOT A DOCTOR ALSO! PLS NO ONE COME AT ME 

a little stretching before bed is very nice imo! i am always sore lol so ill look up on youtube a little yoga session for whatever im sore with (like, gentle hip openers, or shoulder stretching or whatever), one channel i like is yoga with adriene 

meditation? i mean i kinda hate meditating but i like body scans? i like a lot, you can find those on youtube as well! theres also lots of good sleep podcasts or apps that will play different things for you, you can experiment and find what is most relaxing for you (maybe its rain sounds or ASMR or calm music or visualizations or body scans or meditation I don't know! try some out see what you like!) my fav ever that i listen to constantly is this “Relax Into Deep Sleep” by Meg James its on the Insight Timer Meditation App (free and i reccomend), (Meg James has a whole course on “Simple Tools For Self Acceptance I highly recommend!)

try to figure out what it is about sleep that is hard for you, and try to target that! for me for instance, a big problem is keeping my eyes closed long enough to get to sleep, and i found that making an eye pillow out of rice and dried lavander and a new sock tied with a string does the trick to help me weigh down my eyes and keep em closed! If its anxiety, try to use a meditation, another thing that was hard for me to overcome was being cold all the time, so now i sleep with a hot water bottle and it helps cause i can move it to my toes or wherever is cold 

comfy pjs or naked but make sure u comfy and prioritize that

stuffed animals :) i love to spoon Crystal my big pink unicorn! or holding lapin to my chest as i sleep is really comforting to me :) 

try to keep a semi consistent sleep schedule i promise it helps it sucks and its hard but it helps 

I reccomend a routine, it doesnt have to be complicated just something that you do every night to signal to your body its time to wind down. my night time routine is really chill and helps me wind down, try to figure out what the best one is for you but this is mine: shower, get out of shower, have a tea while i lotion my whole body (wait for it to soak in), put on pjs, and do my skin care (toner, lotion). when my teas done i brush teeth (floss and mouthwash if its a good day), put in my retainer, then i sit in bed, spray my pillow and around me with a spray bottle filled with water, vanilla extract and lavander oil, then I put hand lotion and lip balm on, turn off the lights, queue up something to listen to, set my alarms, then i put my little sleep mask on and  its night time :) 

some products i like if u wanna treat urself: sleepy body lotion from lush, some nice smelling candles from the dollar store, lavander essential oil (to put in a spray bottle for nice soothing smells)  and teas i reccomended ;) (or whatever teas u like!!! if u dont know what u like get a caffeine free sampler pack from Twinings or Celestial Seasonings and see what u like!)

i also like to do a to do list before i go to bed so i can get all the shit off my mind that i need to do coming up, i also will keep a note pad by my bed so if im having obsessive or anxious thoughts and they are keeping me up to the point i cant sleep i can just scribble them down and then i feel like they’re out and i can re-visit them later instead of feeling the need to obsess over them in the moment 

Melatonin? is a thing u can try? I got it prescribed when i was younger but it never did anything for me really but you can buy it over the counter and ask your doctor etc etc but yeah maybe thats somehting you could look into ? AGAIN NOT A DOCTOR ASK UR DOCTOR

tl;dr/conclusion/my thoughts: hooooo boy so i see why everyone likes 1960 one better. 

first, lets start with the obvious: why this isnt lord of the flies. because its not. if this wasnt telling me that its lord of the flies, i would think of it as that, really. first off, the conch. the conch represents civility, it brings them together. its important. when piggy dies, it dies, representing how all civility is now gone. i maybe saw the conch three times this movie. didnt do anything.

second, the pilot, captain whatever. the point of the beast to me is that they made it up. sure, the corpse was real, but it didnt pose a threat, it was simply a corpse. they made it into what it was, therefore proving that they are the beast. sure, the pilot here was harmless, but he grbbed a boy’s foot and was therefore making himself a possible threat. maybe its not a big deal i guess.

third, the characters. the point of lord of the flies is that they are rich kids who havent gone through anything. theyre the perfect, spoiled kids who havent done anything wrong. half of them are in choir. chOIR. in this movie, lets take jack for example. they said he stole  a car and got sent to military school. no. the point of jack is that he was a perfect kid. leader of choir. he was manipulitive and got even ADULTS to trust him. its part of hs character, showing that this perfect choir leader kid went fucking insane to prove how literally everyone can be evil. also samneric???? the direspect!! they were loyal to ralph until they were tied up and FORCED to join jack, and even then, after roger like beat the shit out of them, they were STILL loyal. fuck you.

so those are the MAIN reasons why it wasnt lotf. 

now, what i liked i guess.

the swearing was NOT lotf, and it didnt fit with the story, but ill admit that i laughed, so i guess thats a plus.

second, i liked how they showed the gore, i guess? sounds weird, hear me out. lord of the flies is a gruesome, violent, awful book. theres descriptions of death in detail, and im so glad they showed it. when simon’s body was there, literally torn to shreds? the shock of it, the true savagery you see that these boys murdered him SO violently, is amazing, because thats the essence of lotf. simons death shows how theyve lost all their civility, and showing such a gruesome corpse really brings that through. so good job.

and now, of course, the obvious: thats not the characters i pictured when i read the story. simon doesnt look like that, ralph doesnt look like that, jack doesnt look like that.

 where did the choir go, too? forgot to mention that, and i think that also adds into the whole, theyre supposed to be perfect kids and then become savage thing. also, the choir was a group. they voted for jack and went with him for a reason. 

so yea, thats that. dont know why people would read this lmao but thats my thoughts!!!! i just need to keep myself busy when i watch movies and to make sure i focused, i figured id just write down my thoughts as i went. if u wanna watch for free, look up lord of the flies 1990 google drive.
