man it sucks that systems like alexa and google home can't function without connecting to the internet and also reporting back to Evil Corporations because I DO actually want a robot in my house that I can packbond with who will turn my music on for me when my hands are busy but I don't want it to spy on me 24/7 and work for jeff fucking bezos

#alexa is not your friend but it sucks that it has to be that way. she SHOULD be my friend. this version of the future is so stupid #man also my brother has (had?) google home and was trying to show me how it works and it was being a pain in the ass #which is like... okay this seems more annoying and inconvenient than it's worth. you're signing away your privacy for THIS?#like if it was just a self-contained robot that was lowkey bad at its job that'd be one thing #but when it's actively a bad idea to have AND it's not even USEFUL?? bro come on
