lil ooc update abt current situation + whats happening with this blog etc
where to start. i think itâs obvious iâve been struggling a bit recently, for anyone who paid attention to the quite many times where i kept cursing holiday season for keeping me too busy and exhausted to do stuff here and stating that as soon as i would get a breather i would get stuff done, and then that... didnât really happen. i had almost a whole week off and could not, for the life of me, get myself to work on drafts, or anything really. it wasnât just in terms of rp, literally everything else i was planning to get done during my time off did not get done. the moment i told myself âok, you can relax nowâ my brain switched off and all i could do was idly play games and watch random series. which in itself is not a bad thing. i know with hindsight after what i dealt with during the holiday (and arguably the whole month of december), it was important that i gave myself a break, a real break.Â
the bad thing is the guilt i felt at not being able to keep my word.
and frankly, it wasnât even because i lacked motivation. itâs just that it never... ends. not that i should want it to, because this is a enjoyable hobby, but whenever i find the time and inspiration to dive into things here, it increases, in a way. the more i do, the more i have to do. the main example being for the christmas stuff i never finished, or the couple of memes iâve tried to do this week. i go in motivated, full steam ahead. get 3, 4, 5 things done, so more are sent my way, and it feels like what iâve managed to accomplish up to that point was pointless because it only gets attention in the form of people asking for more of it, if that makes sense. what i do never... feels fully rewarding, in a way. and it kind of deters me from wanting to keep going, even if its flattering that so many people are interested.
given that, like i said, whenever i go into these im motivated and fully intending to get it done, thereâs no obvious solution to it. im not a big fan of putting hard caps on things, be it memes or starter calls or whatnot, as sometimes i just get more inspiration for some than others regardless of what order they came in. so the only thing i can do about that particular issue is be more selective. which, is not something i like much either, knowing how many people here suffer from RSD, and that anyone who sends something in that i donât actually get to will likely feel rejected to a degree. unfortunately itâs probably the best course of action for me, if i want to keep doing stuff without burning the fun out of it. iâll do my best to find some kind of balance, and i apologize to people who will feel let down because of this.
something else that i feel has been damaging my capacity to get stuff done here is, in a way, my activity. not as in, how much writing i do, but the fact that, as iâve stated in another post a couple of weeks ago, both my home life and work situation allow me to check on the dash almost constantly. which i love ! i donât want that to change. i love being able to see what everyone is up to, and almost always being around to join in on whatever discussion or playful discourse is going on, whether ic or ooc. the problem with having such a constant access to the dash is that it leaves me feeling like i should always be doing something productive on said dash. which is incredibly unhealthy, ultimately. this is something else iâve brushed upon over the last few weeks, but my level of accessibility should not dictate how active/productive i must be.
and this is why i feel like things have been going downhill over the past few months for me here, in terms of actual activity, and also quality (in my opinion); always feeling like im not doing as much as i should for someone who gets to be online as much as i am. because now, whenever i get actual, suitable free time to write, it feels like every other hour of the day where i could technically be writing but am not, and it typically passes me by just the same.
once again, itâs not something i intend to change, per se. i donât plan to force myself to check on the dash less often or anything like that, and i still want rp to remain one of my main hobbies because i really do love it ! but i need to find a way to make myself not feel like i should always be doing more just because im there, so when i do get that perfect time to write, im motivated to actually use it.
i suppose this is the closest thing i have to a new years resolution: finding a couple of other things to keep busy with throughout my downtime, both at work and at home, so that even if i can always keep an eye on the dash i dont pressure myself to get things done and ruin the experience for myself.
so i can actually hold myself accountable for that, iâve applied to take some online classes (i want to eventually graduate college despite working full time), so i can spend my downtime at work doing homework instead of scrolling on tumblr and wishing i could will myself to write. iâve finally secured a url for a potential art blog so i can have a place to dump my aimless doodles on and hopefully, by extension, make it more of a habit to practice and draw. sometime this year i want to teach myself hand-sewing too. anyone who knows me knows that im obsessed with stuffed animals and i want to have made one myself by the end of 2020, no matter how simplistic.
ultimately, i donât think any of these changes will affect my activity much, since, like i said, i wasnât being nearly as active as i could have been anyway just because i put so much pressure on myself to be doing things just because i was there. i wholeheartedly believe that pushing myself to take interest in pastimes other than rp will make my actual rp experience a lot more enjoyable and productive when i actually sit down to write.
in any case, i wanna thank everyone for both their patience and understanding, as always. im very thankful for the friends i made here and the many talented partners i get to write with, and i just want that to show in the content i put out from now on.

chapter song: all about you / birdy
â
the day that i was sent away was the hardest day of my life to date. a scared 16 year old girl, pregnant with the baby of riverdales small town hero. archie was my dream guy.Â
he had always been the one boy that i had a crush on consistantly throughout my life. one day he showed some interest back and that was it.
 we were together and inseperable.Â
the night that i lost my virginity to archie was the start of a snowball affect. it sealed our passion for one another and also left me pregnant.
did archie know? no, he didnât. was i going to tell him? yes eventually. just not now.Â
my parents were shocked when i told them, they were local lawyers and active members of the church so as you can imagine, they werenât happy. the plan was to send me to a home for un-wed mothers. i made it clear that the baby was going to stay with me, and they respected that.Â
on one term.
i left for the duration of my pregnancy and when i returned, the baby would be made out to be my orphaned cousin who my parents âadoptedâ.Â
and after a week of paprerwork, i was gone. i wasnât allowed to talk to any of my friends, i wasnât allowed to tell archie, i wasnât allowed to even tell my older brother who was in college at the time. it was our own personal deep, dark secret.
â
over the last 8 months, iâve developed into a mother. i gave birth to my daughter a week ago, and iâve never felt better. bettys sister polly was here too. she is pregnant at the moment with jasons baby. what a shame. shes been helping me with my little girl, sheâs also been helping me figure out what im gonna say when i get home.Â
âyou know that betty will be a great babysitter.â polly stated, trimming the roses.
âbetty will be a great mom one day.â i reply, smiling while i remember my best friend who i miss dearly.
the baby starts to fuss, so i sit down in the garden and begin to feed her.Â
âdoes it hurt?â polly asked, curious about the breastfeeding.
âat first it does, butonce you get used to it its super natural and relaxing. shes getting what she needs from me.â i clarified.
there was a blissful silence in the garden. i loved being here with my little princess.Â
âhave you got a name for her yet?âÂ
âi have a few that i like, im not sure which one i want for her yet.â i answer, trying to think of a better excuse for not naming her yet. its just that i dont feel any of the names that have been suggested thus far arent good enough for her.
the moment of blissfulness was about to end. and so was my trail of lies.
from the courtyard, i catch a glimpse of betty and jughead. they were running past all of the nuns to get to the rose garden. it was comotion, people were shouting as the pair of them start calling out for polly.Â
i knew they were looking for her but i didnât think that it was going to ever lead to them being here, while im here. feeding my baby, that they donât know exists.
i see betty hug polly, and that brings a massive smile to my face. and while they were having a sweet reunion, jughead looks over at me. his eyes almost pop right out of his head. he turns a ghostly shade of white.Â
âbetty..â juggie says, stepping back.Â
âwhats up-â she was stopped mid-sentence. she too, had the same deer in the headlights look.Â
ây/n?â she says looking down, at the pink blanket draped over my shoulder.
âhi guys.â i mutter, smiling softly.
the tension could of been cut like butter. it was dead quiet, confusion and shock filling up the atmosphere around us. now it was time for me to explain.
â
âso the baby is archies?â betty enquired, her arm around my shoulder.
âyes. 100 percent.â i reply, looking down at my little girl.
âand your parents took you here, so that people would think you had gone to live with your brother while they were adopting the baby?â jughead recalled while stroking her little hand with his thumb.
âagain, yes. i wanted to leave this place at first but i love it here now.â i state, looking around at the old building with lush gardens and wild flowers.
âwe need to get you home, the both of you.â betty insists, getting up and dusting her skirt off.Â
and with that the plan was hatched. myself and polly were to pack our stuff and betty would pick us up at midnight.Â
and so she did. she came in archies truck, which she borrowed and we drove off into the night. i was longing for him.Â
â
we arrived at bettys grandmas house. it usually sat empty because her grandma was always overseas. she had set it up for myself and polly to stay in while they where figuring out what to do next.Â
betty has made us some tea, we were sitting on the sofa exhausted from the crazy escape.
âjugheads staying at archies.â she said quietly, pursing her lips as if the words were forbidden.
âheâs better off at the andrewsâ house.â i insisted, pretending like i didnât even care that she mentioned archies name.Â
the night was coming to an end, i settled down in a spare room and i fell asleep.
 â
the next morning i had decided to do something completely and utterly stupid. i was going to go and see archie. i needed to tell him that i was back and that i was the mother of his child.Â
i was always one to act on impulse, thats what led me to be where i am in my life.
i got into a pair of jeans and a loose white shirt, put my hair up into a ponytail and got a diaper bag ready for the baby. we were about to leave when betty seeâs me heading out the door.
âwhere are you going?â she asks, leaning against the doorway.
âi need to do it today bets, i canât be here and not see him.âÂ
âlets go then.â she expresses, grabbing her car keys and heading off in front of me. no questions asked.Â
âbetty, the baby?â i ask, holding heer car seat.
âbring her with, iâll watch her while you speak to him.â she suggests.
what am i doing? is this really going to happen? i feel sick.Â
â
as i walk into the auditorium at riverdale high, i feel this urge to crack a smile. as much as i used to hate it here, iâve missed this place.Â
it was always nice coming in and being a kid. iâve had to acknowledge that archie wont be happy to see me. i know him well enough to establish that the boy has issues with people leaving him.Â
i walk into the football locker room and head straight to his locker. i can see him standing there, texting someone. i stand awkwardly trying to say something but its like my voice disapeared.
i take a sharp breath, trying to get some more confidencence to talk but im just numb. heâs so beautiful and as i see him standing there i remember looking at my baby. she has his eyes. those beautiful eyes.
and then i see him put something back into his locker and he quickly glances over at me and looks back. then it was like reality had stopped, he stared into his locker, trying to comprehend if his brain was decieving him.Â
it wasnât.
i was there.
he looked back at me, this time for longer. he had scanned my body. he knew something was different, i could tell.
âhey arch.â i mutter. pressing my foot against the concrete.
he just continued to stare at me. not a peep.Â
âplease...say something..â i stutter, trying to comprehend what he is thinking.Â
âthats the thing-â he says looking up at me.
âi donât know what to say..â he continued, placing his left hand throigh his thick hair.
the silence was deadly. you could hear the white noise.
almost in the same moment that silence was shattered by him slamming his fist against the metal locker.
he was impulsive, like me.
âFUCKâ he raged, scaring the shit out of me.
my breathing picks up, i close me eyes. i felt his pain.Â
âwhat the fuck y/n? you leave and then..oh shit.â he sits down, overwhelemed by the situation.Â
âarch i can explain..â i say walking over to him.Â
âexplain what? you left without saying goodbye..and i hate you for that.â he spits, looking at me dead in the eyes.Â
and with that, it felt like my whole world had stopped. i was almost winded by that word. hate. had it really gone that far?
âi loved you so much too.â he continues.Â
âlike i had so much love for you and you didnât take that seriously.â he sneered.
âi cant loose you..â i croaked.
âwell you should of thought about that before you left me without saing anything. god, you really dont get it. i loved you and then you were gone.. and i knew that i had lost you.â he confessed.
âI didnât leave because i wanted to, i had to.â i snapped.
âyou left because youâre selfish.â he interupted.
âi left because i was pregnant.â i corrected him.
and then the white noise returned. he looks at me and all of a sudden it clicked in his mind. thats why i looked different. thats why i had changed and thats why i had left. he looks around the room, as if his reality was slipping.Â
âyou had a b-â he stops to breath.
the look on his face was priceless.
âyou had a baby?â he stammered, obviously shocked.
âi had our baby. i had to leave arch, i didnât have a choice and i couldnât tell you.â
he uses his hands to rub his face, tears forming very slowly in his eyes.
âiâm not mad.â he admits, looking down at his feet.
âi know.â i answer.
âiâm hurt or i was hurt. i donât know-â he was interupted by a cry.
i see betty rush into the locker room with the stroller.
âi think sheâs hungry.â betty whispers, looking at a gobsmacked archie.
âshe?â he asked looking up.
i go towards to stroller, grabbing the baby. and lifting her up.Â
âi want to hold her.â Â he stands up, marching towards me.Â
i look down at her, she wasnât hungry. she was fussy.
archie comes around and looks down at her face. i could feel him almost melt.Â
âshe is so beautiful.â he says in awe.
âshe looks just like y/n.â betty mentions with a smile ever present on her face.
âshe does.â he agrees.
âshe has your eyes arch.â i smile, gushing over this gorgeous child that i had a part in creating.
i turn around and i hand the baby to archie, proudly.
âhave you named her?â he asks, looking up at me.
âi have a name in mind.â i reply.
âand?â betty questions.
âwell my grandmaâs name was ivy and archies grandmas name was belle, so i was thinking-â
âivy belle.â he says cutting me off abruptley.
âoh thats so sweet.â betty whines, pulling her bottom lip out.Â
âivy belle andrews.â i purred.
archie looked at me and without any hesitation,
âim her dad.â he smiles.
â
and in a moment, a hostile environment can be turned into a memory forever fuelled by love.Â
archie and i got married when he graduated high school. he was working with his dad, and also writing and producing music on the side.
we had little miss ivy belle, and shortly after our wedding we welcomed a little cheeky little ginger haired boy named freddie forsythe.Â
the teenage girl who was once pregnant and scared is now happily married, a mother of two and a journalist at the riverdale register. i never thought that my pregancy would of lead to my happily ever after, but it did.

Posting Gillâs bday fic over here with permission. Itâs Rosemary-related and TLC compliant (with a couple of minor spoilers) but should be understandable even with no knowledge of the AU.
This is what you have learned from dating Rose Lalonde. Expect any room to fill up with clutter in her presence. Your attempts to keep things tidy are as effective as holding back the tide. Expect everything to take on the feel of an epic, like you might be summoned onto a world-altering quest at a momentâs notice. Itâs like a human fairy tale, but the old kind, not remakes that are all glitter and talking animals. The stories with teeth.
Donât expect her to say that she loves you.
Donât take it personally either. Thatâs what you remind yourself. Rose resists sincerity. When you presented her with the first flowers youâd grown in the new greenhouse (roses; youâd been delighted to learn sheâd been named for a flower), sheâd laughed uncertainly like youâd unlocked an event she didnât have a script for. Over the next week, as the blooms withered, they moved around. First you spotted them on the windowsill, then on her bedside table, in this vase or that one, like she couldnât figure out what place they had in her life.
On the Land of Rays and Frogs, you encountered a puzzle path made of colored lily pads. If you stepped on the wrong one, it would buckle and deposit you in a mini-boss chamber before you returned to the start, weary and wiser. Navigating this relationship feels much the same. Some of your missteps now are the inevitable outcome of two species still learning about each other, but not all of them. After reading Roseâs walkthrough, youâd daydreamed of meeting its author. Now you think you need a walkthrough for her too.
The day after your tumultuous first date, Rose dumped her concoctions down the drain, saying she could embarrass herself perfectly well without the aid of depressants. Not even a week later, she set the equipment up again.
âIt might come in handy for medicinal purposes,â she said when you asked her why sheâd changed her mind. âBesides, it wasnât all bad.â She winked. âWe got some mileage out of it.â
You blushed, and your rainbow drinker glow briefly flared before you wrestled it under control again. In the first few weeks you hadnât known how the rules changed when you moved from unofficial to official. Where did you put your eyes, or your hands? What were you allowed to say? âIt did make you more forward.â
She laughed, and from the sharpness on her breath you realized sheâd already been sampling her experiments. âI can be so fucking uptight sometimes. Maybe we all need to lighten up. Lighten up. Get it?â
âI get it,â you said. But you didnât.
So you sought clarification from Dave. After you quested through the meteor, lipstick at the ready in case of clown sightings, you found him topside staring back the way youâd come. At the beginning of your journey, youâd taken turns stationing yourselves there, afraid Jack would catch up and resume his rampage when you least expected it. When he didnât make an appearance, youâd all let your guards down, reducing sentry duty to a quick backward glance now and then. Was he keeping watch for Lord English now?
âAre you watching for Jack?â you asked.
He jumped and tried to cover it with a miniscule adjustment to his cape. âNah. Watching Skeletor blast everyone to bits.â
âYou and Rose have been up here a lot recently.â
âWe both came up after the first killing, you know? It was so loud.â He rubbed at his eyes underneath his shades. His skin is a few shades lighter than his siblingâs, and you could see shadows there. âItâs been hard to sleep since then. At least sheâs found a way to conk out.â
âAbout her newfound use of soporifics.â You hesitated, staring up at the flashing lights that were already becoming familiar. Itâs amazing how fast you accustom yourselves to the unthinkable. âIs that normal for humans?â
He frowned. (Later, heâd tell you he hadnât been sure how to respond. âI didnât want to fuck it up for you two,â he said. âI didnât think itâd get that bad.â) âHard to say whatâs normal in our situation. Guess a lot of people would pull out a bottle after everything weâve gone through. Better than sticking a forty-five in your mouth. Sheâs always been extreme about reacting to things. Itâs hard to believe weâre the same damn species sometimes, let alone siblings.â
âI didnât think an outing with me is so terrible you have to be out of your wits to enjoy it.â You didnât mean to sound petulant, but his eyebrows rose.
âShe doesnât mean it like that.â
âI thought you didnât understand her.â
âIt would take an institutional thinktank to really figure her out, but I do a little.â He shoved his hands into his pockets. He does that when heâs being serious sometimes. âI think the whole thing freaked her out. Freaks her out, present tense, if youâre officially an item now. Congrats, by the way.â
âThank you.â
Another spiderweb of cracks blossomed above your heads. You could see them reflected in Daveâs shades as he said, âI donât think she trusts anyone being nice to her 100%, thatâs all. Not even me.â
Rose has been clean for months now in human terms. You both have. The first few weeks of your victory were spent dealing with the effects of abandoning your substances of choice. You stumbled around feeling as if youâd been dipped in concrete, your movements and thoughts slow and ponderous. Rose went days without sleep and flinched away from things the rest of you couldnât see. Roxy warned you of what to expect, since sheâd gone through the process before. Sheâs also the one who told you to remind Rose to eat. âSheâs not gonna want to,â she said. âYou feel gross all over and the last thing you want to do is stick more shit in your body, but if you donât eat youâll just feel crummier.â
Youâd noticed her drinking her meals before, but youâd never brought it up beyond meaningful glances or the pointed placement of foodstuffs in her respiteblock. Rose has always been good at dodging questions. âDo you have any suggestions for a strategic approach? Sheâll try to deflect me with witticisms. Her barbs are floppy at the edges right now, but my defenses are equally compromised.â
âThatâs a cute way of saying youâre both fucked up.â Roxy shrugged. âI canât beat her in a war of words, and I wouldnât try. My advice? Sit on her and force feed her Saltines while telling her itâs for her own good.â
You had been skipping meals yourself. Even after eating normal food, you still felt hungry. Your system wanted something else to satisfy it, so what was the point? Rose latched on to that hypocrisy when you tried to nag her, so youâd end up sitting across the table from each other with plates of leftovers cold from the fridge, matching each other mouthful for mouthful. Whatever worked.
The worst of that is past now. But sometimes she still behaves in ways that make you wonder if after all these sweeps she really trusts you.

As time passes, you all improve with hesitant steps that sometimes send you sliding back, sometimes not. Rose throws herself into her walkthrough, which she plans to distribute to anyone else caught up in SGRUBâs gears. Everyone is on consultant duty to flesh out areas of personal expertise. You, however, are her co-editor, a position of special privilege.
Rose views the work as one more way to help whatever players come after you. Your motivation is less selfless. Once, several sweeps and universes ago, an alienâs words found you and gave you something to hang on to. Somewhere, in a distant galaxy, someone else is being forced to play this game. Maybe your words can reach them, like Roseâs reached you. Working on the walkthrough now lets you build something together in a way that she wonât dismiss as sappy and overdone, a love letter for the universe.
That doesnât mean you donât run into difficulties, of course.

Roseâs typical drafting position is on her stomach with her laptop propped up on the pillow. You prefer to stretch your legs out with your back up against the wall. Thermoses of tea balance precariously between the two of you on the mattress.
âThereâs been a lot of activity on the kernelsprite document,â Rose says, flicking through the pages. âApparently Hal listed â100 advantages of being prototypedâ and Dirk replaced it with âMost of this list is either illegal or immoral.â Iâm turning track changes on to see what they were.â
You tap your fingers idly on the keys while your own husktop buffers. âAnything good?â
âGet away with murder,â she reads. âThatâs clichĂŠ, you donât even have to be a sprite for that. I think he just put it in there to be edgy. Heâs trying so hard; you have to respect that. Itâs like when I started buying black makeup to try to spite my mother.â She scrolls down further. âOh, hereâs a good one. Clip through the floor.â
âIâve seen John do it. Heâs not as original as he thinks he is.â You peer at her screen. âEat your enemyâs phone. Iâll give him points for one. Itâs not feasible for most mortals.â
Rose reaches across your legs for another cookie. âSure, if youâre a coward.â
âIâll accept that designation if it means avoiding a mouthful of circuitry.â
She chews thoughtfully and then flicks a sprinkle off onto the carpet. At least youâre in her room. Still, you feel a compulsion to pick it up. âAbout what you were saying earlier. I donât want to contribute to any lingering insecurities.â
The change of topics catches you off guard. âTheyâre milling around in the lobby, but Iâm not letting them upstairs.â You shrug, your shoulders sliding up the wall. âAs weâve been reminding each other, we canât fix everything about ourselves immediately. Iâm more confident than I used to be. I didnât let Jake talk me into that routine with the glitter.â
âShame.â She frowns at you, an expression diluted somewhat by a rim of frosting on her upper lip. âIâm not commandeering this project too much, am I? Itâs nice to have something to be enthusiastic about again, but maybe Iâm getting carried away.â
âNo, youâre being very accommodating.â You squirm, smoothing out inconsequential creases in your skirt. Sometimes feelings donât make sense. But once Rose decides she wants to talk about them, she tries to pin them to the page and dissect them. She does it because she wants to understand and help, the same way she wants to reverse engineer SBURB with words to assist players who come after. That doesnât make the process any more pleasant when youâre the one on the operating table. âThe problem is on my end, in the concern lobby. The lurking insecurities have been taking numbers for a while, and the counter is only up to twelve.â
âLike Inside Out crossed with a DMV? Hellish.â Rose picks up a pen and rolls it between her fingers. She likes to draft things longhand first sometimes. âI remember back on the last day of the game, you said you thought everyone burned brighter than you. You mustâve realized by now that my âburning brighterâ is mostly because I have a habit of setting myself on fire.â
Youâll admit youâd been starstruck by the walkthroughâs mysterious author. It had been nice to harbor a new secret crush once Vriska was a lost cause. And youâd first met Rose face to face as a newly risen goddess bathed in the luminescence of the Green Sun. Sheâd seemed ethereal and beyond you.
Then, after the first few hours of sorting out living arrangements and watching Karkat roam around yelling for Gamzee to give the bodies back, sheâd announced she was going to âsleep for a fucking weekâ and faceplanted into the nearest rug. Dave didnât help beyond alchemizing some safety cones and setting them up around her. That had helped a little. So had seeing what her hair looks like in the mornings. âIf youâre worried I have some unattainable vision of you set on a mental altar, rest easy. But you did restructure the multiverse with nothing but nerve, so I might still want your autograph a little.â
Rose brandishes the pen. âOnly on the condition I get to sign your bra.â When you wave her away, she drops it on the pillow. âSpearheading the multiverse operation is one of my prouder accomplishments, Iâll admit, but my violet-tinged authorial prowess is entirely due to thinking I was hot shit as a pre-teen on the Internet. Besides, if weâre talking bragging rights, you fixed reality. Not to mention put up with us idiots for three years.â
âThat was a struggle.â At times youâd wondered if you were the only one on the meteor keeping ahold of your wits. âRemember when the ceiling panels gave way and Gamzee fell onto the table?â
âNot our best group dinner. But you see, Iâm a mess. Youâre the one who has her act together.â
You frown. Being praised for your stability is a sore spot of yours. Yes, youâd been the one to bear everyone elseâs struggles. That doesnât mean you liked it. âI had to. Someone did. It got tiring after a while, though.â
Rose winces. âIâm sorry. I didnât mean it that way. You shouldnât have had to. But it is impressive that you did.â
âYou were sick,â you say, in response to her apology.
You see her shoulder blades rise and fall in a muted shrug. âI know. But that doesnât mean you should have had to deal with it.â
âI guessâŚâ Maybe youâre the one whoâs prompted her to speak up, but you struggle with your words too. Troll culture teaches you that open exchanges of feelings are for moirails. Palemates are the only people you can trust the depths of your soul to, if you can truly trust anyone at all. Humans donât compartmentalize in the same way. You can see the benefits of that system, but you still fear saying the wrong thing will push her away. âYou undercut yourself to tell me Iâm better than I think I am. But if Iâm already worried about measuring up to some standard, that just pushes us both lower. Do you see what I mean?â
âThe self-deprecationâs not cute. Got it.â She twists around in what is probably some kind of advanced yoga pose to look you in the eye. âBut you shouldnât undersell yourself either, ok?â
When she doesnât break eye contact, you nod reluctantly. âThis is a very affirming argument weâre having.â
She reaches over and prods you with the pen. âIâm channeling Jake. Believe in yourself.â
You smile. âItâs hard to resist, these days.â
When youâre done for the evening, Rose captchalogues her laptop and you troop out. Everyone has their own room, but all of you tend to spend more of your nights in the common area curled up in armchairs or slumped over each other on sofas, within easy sight of each other when you wake from bad dreams. After a few weeks of intentionally lingering there until you fell asleep, you made it official and filled the whole room with soft materials like a huge communal pile. Terezi even taped up democratically-determined regulations. Rose spends some nights curled up next to you with her face shoved so close against your neck you wonder how she can breathe. Sometimes, though, she retreats to a corner with a pillow at her back like a wall. You know not to approach her then.
Tonight, she finds an empty patch of floor and drops down on it. You lower yourself next to her.
âAre you happy with the chapter now?â she asks.
âIâd like to give it another pass tomorrow, but itâs much better.â
âAnd everything else?â
âThatâs better too.â
âGood.â She gives you a peck on the lips and, when Terezi wolfwhistles, flips her the bird and kisses you for real. You kiss her back, until⌠You pull away.
âAre you wearing my lip balm?â
âMaybe.â She purses the lips in question. âItâs got a good flavor.â
âI was wondering where that went. You know, you could have just asked to borrow it.â Grudgingly, anyway. She has a terrible habit of licking the stuff off and then reapplying it to start the cycle anew.
Rose raises an eyebrow. âYou offered to do my laundry so you could steal my favorite shirt.â
You think, with only a modicum of guilt, of the shirt you have stashed behind the laundry basket in your closet. âItâs very soft.â
âIâm never getting that back, am I?â
âProbably not.â
She sticks her tongue out at you and pulls a blanket over her shoulders. âNight.â
âGood night,â you say. Thatâs the only endearment you exchange.

A few days later, Rose wanders into your room unannounced and flops onto the bed. This isnât uncommon behavior, so you keep sorting through your clean laundry. Her cat behaves similarly, insinuating himself into a room as if he belongs there. Itâs a lazy confidence you envy. âWe should go out,â she says, directing her words at the ceiling.
âWe should?â you ask, holding two socks up to see if they match. They donât, exactly, but they are a pair. Rose knitted them for you herself. Theyâre lumpy and awkwardly shaped, and you treasure them.
âWe were going to do something fun after the game, remember? That was the plan. But we've both been sick, and outside is...â Rose waves toward the window and the world it serves as a barrier against. âOutside, so we haven't gotten around to it. But we should. Youâve been in your room a lot. Itâll do us both good.â
Drat. Your downturns arenât as explosive as the othersâ. Sometimes you simply withdraw, spending more time on your own while a mental screen descends between you and the world, distorting it like a blur filter. Thereâs nothing wrong with you, exactly; itâs just that you donât have the energy. Thatâs not bad, right? There are worse things than numbness. âWhat were you thinking we could do?â
She sits up halfway and then flops back down again. The pillows bounce. âI was hoping you'd have some ideas.â
You twist the socks together and toss them into the appropriate drawer. âThe only thing I remember suggesting was outfits without sleeves.â
âCompelling, but not really something to make a date out of.â Rose frowns. âHave we ever... had a normal date? By regular people's standards?â
âTroll or human?â You shake your head. âI don't think any species would give us a passing grade.â
âEarthworms might be impressed.â
You pout. âYou've never taken me to any good plots of soil.â
âWe'll do that next time. For now, Jane said someone needs to do the shopping.â
âYou know how to sweep me off my feet.â
Rose, still prone, waves a list in your direction. âIt'll be fun. We get to pick which flavor of potato chips we want, and everyone else has to live with it.â
If Alternia had anything like supermarkets, they hadnât spread near your oasis. For all that your caste can stand the sun, the electric lights hurt your eyes. Theyâre too bright â a harsh white that makes all the bright colors look flat and artificial. You reach for Roseâs hand, and she squeezes it. âI appreciate the support,â you say, âbut I wanted to see the list.â
âOh. Right.â She brings it up for both of you to consult. âDoes Jade know how expensive beef is? Sheâs really running us through it.â
âSheâs been talking about growing vegetables for the household. Itâs too bad she canât raise her own cows.â
âDonât give her ideas. She wouldnât be able to bring herself to butcher them, not after weâd named them all.â Rose leads you to the back of the store and scoops up slabs of meat packed into tidy foam and plastic containers. The setup is so clinical your residual rainbow drinker instincts donât even twitch. Itâs a far cry from the Alternian pastime of slicing your dinner up while itâs still wriggling. âWe need milk,â she begins, and trails off after she pivots to the left. âIt was that way in my old store. But they must not follow a common plan.â
Rose looks unmoored now that her navigational confidence has been broken. A lot of the humans are like this, wavering when their world doesnât behave the way they think it should. Itâs almost easier for those of you who expect foreign ways and customs. Itâs harder to be a stranger in your own home. âWeâll wander,â you say, and steer her firmly by the shoulder.
By a combination of trial and error and studying signage like relics of a lost civilization, you manage to gather everything on the list. The only problem comes when you pass a series of shelves stacked with bottles, and Rose stiffens. It takes a moment for the pieces to fall into place â youâve never seen wine packaged in its original containers before.
âCome on,â you say, linking your arm with hers. âHelp me test which limes are ripest.â
You have to tug for a moment before she comes with you. You donât think sheâs planning to make a running leap for the vintage. If anything, she looks like she does when thereâs an enemy sighted, wary and ready to spring. If she destroys several wine racks with a blast of divine light, thatâll probably go on your bill.
âSorry,â she says, once youâve made it to the produce section. âAt my old store, it was in a separate room. Not out in the open.â
You lean toward her a little, so your shoulders press together. âIt took you by surprise.â
She leans back. âLike pulling down your sheets and seeing a spider in your bed.â You see a dot of blood on her lower lip. She must have bitten it. âIt must be harder for you. Thereâs no getting away from all that blood walking around on two legs.â
âItâs easier not to slip up, though.â You reach over with your free hand and dab at her cut, wiping the smear on the side of your shirt. âTheyâd make a fuss if I tried to sample it.â
âThatâs what recovering alcoholics need.â She swipes at her mouth herself, but the wound is already closing. âWine bottles that scream when you open them.â
âYouâve uncovered a new industry.â
âI need to patent it immediately.â
You squeeze her arm before letting go. If sheâs making jokes, thatâs a good sign.
Rose perks up when youâre heading toward the checkout. âHang on. We have to stop by the natural foods section.â
âWe do?â You check the list again. Thereâs nothing left on it.
âYou never know,â she says. Now itâs her turn to drag you along. âThe cure to all our lifeâs problems might be hiding next to the apricot kernels.â
Her tone is mocking. âIs there something wrong with natural products?â
âNot on their own. Jade says a lot of processed food upsets her stomach after growing up without it. But some people will pitch organic to you as the cure for cancer, and if youâre telling me you feed your four-year-old Goji berries instead of getting him vaccinated, I think youâve opened yourself up to public disdain.â Rose plucks a box of tea off the shelf. âLook at this one. It says itâll revitalize your body and restore harmony to your thoughts. All for twelve dollars, too.â
âSounds like a deal.â
âIt would have its work cut out for it with us. Hey, if I drink Sleepy Time and Stay Alert blends at the same time, what do you think will happen?â
âYouâll shed your corporeal form and ascend to a being of pure consciousness, and that would be a shame, because I like your face.â You retrieve the boxes and put them back before she decides to do product testing. âApparently these exotic grains cure depression with their wholesome vitamins and minerals.â
âBuy the whole shelf.â
Sheâs right; some of these products are ridiculous. The two of you are giggling over asparagus water when a middle-aged woman pushes past you with her shopping cart. A highblood couldnât look down their nose better. âAre you girls done with that?â she asks.
âDefinitely,â Rose says, straight-faced. âIâd recommend it. It made us gay.â
Rose did the talking there, and you were too busy laughing to think of how to react. But when you get to the cashier, your tongue twists in your mouth. You stammer through pleasantries until Rose rescues you and completes the transaction. You drift away while she's collecting the bags, pretending to peruse the week's advertisement flier.
âShe was pretty,â Rose says when she joins you, groceries in tow. âIs that why you were stuttering?â
You take half the bags from her. It would have been polite to help her carry them from the conveyor belt, but you needed to escape. âWas she? I didn't notice.â
She nudges you with a conspiratorial grin. âYou don't have to play coy. I won't get jealous.â
âI'm not playing coy.â You shift one of the bags over your wrist, and something inside crinkles. Hopefully you didnât break anything. âHer face was a blur. I panicked.â
Roseâs smile fades. âIâd forgotten you could be shy.â
The automatic doors whoosh open as the two of you approach. You sidestep a mother and her offspring going the other direction. âWhen you grow up on an oasis where your nearest neighbors are the shambling undead, you're a little cautious of strangers.â
âBut willing to send them messages on Pesterchum questioning their intelligence and morals.â
She printed your first conversation logs off and stuck them to her wall, which you find equally endearing and annoying. Every time you see them, you itch to pull out a pen and make edits. âThat's different. We weren't face to face. And... this is all new, here. I worry they'll be able to tell.â
âThat they'll scream âSpace invader!â and cart you off to a top secret facility?
âIâm sure itâs funny to you,â you say with a sniff, starting across the parking lot. âThey wonât dissect you.â
She smiles again â you meant her to; the dissection at least was a joke. âI get nervous too. Not as much now after everything weâve been through, but Iâve always been hyperaware of social situations. But I tend to take the âdon't get scared; get angryâ approach.â
You recall how she marched up to the conveyor belt and slammed down her purchases. âI did wonder if you were going to challenge the salesperson to a strife.â
âChalk it up to the childhood narcissism. I always felt like everyone was passing judgment.â
You accidentally make eye contact with a man stepping out of his vehicle and redirect your gaze at Roseâs collarbone. âLike everyone's watching.â
She nods. âAnd that's not true. They have their own problems and couldn't care less what we do. We're not important to them. In this case, that's reassuring.â
Youâre surprised she finds it comforting. Youâre happy to fade into the background; Rose likes to be noticed. Youâd never realized it frightened her too. âWhat a pair we make,â you say.
âBetween us, we add up to one functional person.â
You pull open the car door for her with a flourish. âI'd be generous and say at least 1.5.â
A few of the humans have been working to get their licenses so Janeâs father doesnât have to drive them everywhere. Rose only has a permit, but that doesnât stop her from using the car. Seer powers let her know if thereâs likely to be trouble, but otherwise she drives like sheâs got a grudge against the pavement. She peels out of the parking spot and then slams on the brakes. You hug a carton of eggs to your chest so they donât splatter against the windshield. âWhat is it?â
âWe have cold bags for everything, right?â
âYes.â It was overkill for a short trip, but you prefer to be prepared.
She pulls into the storeâs partner gas station while you wave apologetically at the elderly woman she just cut off. âThis is a date. Weâre going to get coffee.â
The coffee machine is broken, so you both get 99 cent slushies and sit on the curb next to the free air pump. The parking spot is empty save for a mulch of cigarette butts and ripped up Lotto tickets. Rose slurps some of her concoction out of a straw. Itâs a murky mess, and you spotted her squirting a few shots of energy drink in for good measure. You spent several minutes painstakingly creating a rainbow pattern and are now trying to drink evenly to keep the layers intact. A bag of chips slumps half-empty between you. Theyâll complain about that back home, but itâs their fault for not coming along to supervise.
Rose sucks on her straw with a noise like a drain unclogging. âHowâs this for romance and adventure?â
âI could do it again,â you say. And you could. The encounter with the cashier still leaves you shaken, but the haze has peeled off the world. Itâs funny how after everything youâve been through, something as simple like this can be energizing. There are groceries in the car that need to get back and a household worth of responsibilities to keep up with, but right now it could just be the two of you setting off on some new adventure. Rose has always made you feel that way. Light players make the world narrow around them, drawing in attention, compressing possibility. Theyâre a lantern you bump against, entranced. With Rose, youâve found one that doesnât burn.
âWell shit, these were ninety-nine cents.â She smirks in the way that means youâve missed a joke. âI think our budget can afford it.â
âThank you for dragging me out here.â Lurking in your room seems silly now. âIt helps, borrowing your confidence.â
âItâs a show,â she says. âI donât know how you manage to seem so centered all the time.â
âAmateur theatrics,â you say. âOne functional person, here we are.â She raises her drink in a toast, and you knock them together. âI mean it, though,â you continue. âItâs nice, the way you turn things into adventures. Even if itâs a shopping trip, I donât know where weâre going to end up. Itâs unpredictable, but I like it. I like spending time with you.â
She smiles and looks away. Whenever youâve successfully induced emotions, she never wants to look you in the eye. âThat slushy must have made an impression.â
âIt was good.â You flick the straw, sending drops of condensation scattering across the asphalt. âWe didnât have anything like this at home, at least not where I grew up. That might explain part of the rapturous response. But mostly I think itâs because I love you.â
Rose stills. That might be a bad sign, but youâve gotten yourself into this situation, so you might as well keep going. âIâm not trying to corner you,â you say, looking down at your knees. âI know you have difficulty expressing some things. But I wanted to express that. Right now.â
When you sneak a look over, her shoulders are shaking. The ice from your drink solidifies in your stomach until you realize sheâs laughing.
âDo you know how long Iâve been agonizing over this?â she asks.
âI knew why,â you begin. âYour motherâŚâ Thatâs not a complete sentence, but it doesnât have to be. Sometimes you want to ask John to transport you into Roseâs past so you can grab the woman by her shoulders and shake her. âHow could you be so careless?â you want to demand. âDidnât you realize what you were doing?â You are all the results of what has been done to you, combined with your attempts to overcome it. Even with your universes gone, their impressions remain as indelible parts of you. You wouldnât want Rose to be anything other than who she is, but that doesnât stop you from wishing she could have gotten something better growing up.
âThat was what started it.â Rose takes a gulp of her drink. The humor drains from her voice. Now sheâll look you in the eye. âSheâd vanish into her laboratory or a drunken stupor and leave me to fend for myself. The first time I tried cooking spaghetti I set off the fire alarm. I couldnât get it to stop until I climbed up on a chair and took the batteries out. She slept through the whole thing. So when she turned up with a new present, how could I believe it was sincere? And even if it was, it didnât make up for anything. If all you can give is the trappings of love, like youâve bought out a Valentinesâ clearance sale but canât be damned to raise your own child, it doesnât count.â She sloshes the remains of her drink around with one hand and watches it like sheâs reading tea leaves. âSo I guess I distrusted all of it. The glitz, the performance, anything. Even the words. Because if you do it right, they should know. But⌠in the past Iâve been guilty of overcorrecting.â
âReally?â You try to keep your tone teasing. Anything else might alarm her.
She elbows you in the ribs, but not hard. âSometimes Iâve turned the wheel a bit and drifted over the dividing line between reasonable responses and terrible decisions by a few millimeters.â
âI think a driving instructor might say you sailed over the median, engaged with oncoming traffic, and left the highway entirely for parts unknown. What?â you add. âIâve read the manual youâre all practicing from.â
âFive dollars says you pass the test before I do. After the timeline John made unhappen, I realized Iâd never told you. For all the wrong, stupid reasons. I shouldnât have let any of that stop me. I wouldâve died with that as one of my greatest regrets. So I wanted it to be perfect, since I made you wait so long.â She covers her mouth with one hand and smiles through her fingers. âGod, you should see my search history. I watched promposal videos, although I wiped all that data and Iâll deny it if you tell anyone. And here we are ââ she pauses and shakes her head - âin a gas station parking lot. But you know what? I think it fits.â She slings an arm around your shoulders and plants a sticky kiss on your cheek. âI love you. Letâs make it count.â
This is what you have learned from dating Rose Lalonde. Expect your lives to accumulate the clutter of experiences together â receipts and stolen shirts and empty packages still streaked with frosting. Expect to make missteps, because the two of you are walking an uncharted path one step after another. Sometimes you fall, fight your demons, and climb back up again. You are all doing this for the first time.
Expect her to say she loves you in unexpected ways. A new package of lip gloss left on your pillow. A flower pressed between the pages of a heavy book to make it delicate and perfect. Occasionally, the words.
Make it count.

and by this time next year i know everything will be so different but part of me hopes youre still here
dont know how you have me dreaming this big but here i am
i hope by this time next year ive done lots of camping with you or even something crazy like travelling with you, taking a road trip, who knows
what if we travelled and did art on the street
i feel so brand new when i look at you
i always find myself believing that this is love, this is how its supposed to be, this is it
but i mean who really knows
its so hard to see through people and as high as i thought my guards were up, the walls were made of pillows and you just made yourself comfortable
its such a breath of relief
its so special
youre so
special
your whole self is so real and charming and inviting and everything just feels
okay
but i cant make myself comfortable
im surrounded by concrete and just standing around waiting for the walls to collapse because life only teases people with good terms and thats all ive ever known
and i think im so scared and im all caught up in the anxiety of things and then im with you and 100 pounds floats away from the back of my shoulders and a big breath of relief spills from my lungs and damn
this is
nice
i guess ill just hope for the best
why refuse something so
beautiful
why tell those smiles they shouldnt be that happy to see me
why refuse the one person in my life right now who wants to take care of me like you do
i want that
but i want that for good
i want to settle down with that
i hope this goes somewhere i really do
and shit i cant believe i kissed you
but wow did it feel like stepping into a place ive been 100 times and still love it just as much
it felt like 100 long years of life filled with nothing but sunshine and the smell of fresh coffee and a warm fire and laughter, so much laughter
a new kind of life flashed before my eyes and then i opened them and saw it flash before your eyes too
you said you love hard but shit i think i love harder
you have
no idea
when i love
ill hold on to the smallest and simplest of things and my brain just assumes were gonna be life long partners
and i guess thats how its supposed to be, youre supposed to be with someone you see alot in but were not even together and here i am
heres hoping our babies have those giant adorable happy brown eyes you have
thats a joke but i mean
shit where did you even come from
is this what i finally deserve or will tides change over night again because these kinda things make a lady wonder
i really wonder

Why is everyone whining about being required to buy heath insurance?
you probably don't realize it, but you practically are required to buy car insurance. if you wreck and you have no insurance, it's not very pretty, especially for your money. Same thing with heath. if you get sick and don't have insurance, it's not very good! i don't understand why people so strongly oppose requirement to buy heath insurance, but don't even stop to think about car insurance, the same principle.""

What are my health insurance options?
I recently changed jobs to a small company that does not provide health insurance. I was turned down when I applied independently to Aetna for medical reasons. Car insurance for teens. Do I NEED to be listed on my parents policy?
My parents have triple A auto insurance and I have recently gotten my drivers license. I have tried to research the requirements for insurance by law on the California DMV website and the most concrete statement I found was some numbers that cover various damages and injuries (DMV website is not working properly so I cannot look it up). My parents insurance obviously covers the basic and more. However, my parents policy states that Any relative that has consent of the owner to use the insured vehicle is covered by this policy - These are not the exact words as I don't have the policy on me, but it is pretty damn close. In the definitions portion of the policy, it states a relative as anyone related by blood, and some other stuff. I am my parents son so I am obviously related by blood, thus their policy coverage extends on to me when they give me permission to use their vehicle. I did not find ANY California laws that required me to be on the policy. i only found information that said I only need that minimum coverage which my parents policy does provide. We did contact triple A about this and they did not give us a reasonable answer. All they said was that they WANT my parents to add me because THOSE ARE THE RULES. Seems like they just want more money in their pockets. Can someone give some advice? Thanks.""
Low-cost health insurance company?
I have been trying to do research on the state of health insurance in the US and am not getting much informative stuff. What is stopping a private, non- or for-profit company setting up a lower-premium health insurance company? these are the possible problems i have come up with so far: - the insurance claims will far exhaust the float (is this true?) - the demand will be overwhelming (but this shouldn't be too bad considering the insurance business is not heavy on capital expenditures?) - it would be difficult to cover the high costs of drugs and specialist medical costs with lower premiums - getting hands on enough and reliable data in order to calculate proper costs, probabilities of claims against a potential pool of funds, etc. possible solutions would of course begin with restricting the pool of people granted insurance (restrict by probability of claiming insurance) until more data can be gathered to offer insurance to less healthy candidates.""

Car Insurance Claim Help?
Car Insurance Claim Help? On the 4/7/2011 I was at a set of traffic lights that was (RED) of my way to the shops. As the lights went green I begin to move off slowly as I did another car came from the left of me and tried to turn right as he speed up he crashed into the drivers side of the car. He clearly jumped a red light (Clearly Seen on CCTV). I was in total shock at the time! After he crashed into my car he went to drive off by reversing, I jumped out of my car to stood in his was so he could not drive off the witness behind me called the police while I was stopping his from driving off he started to drive forwards trying to me me out the way. After the driver spoke to the police on the phone, he then gave me his Name, Phone number and Insurance information. The next day I called my insurance company they was vary helpful and I believe the clam would be settled in my favor as I had CCTV of the crash as I had a camera inside of my car and a witness that was behind my car at the time of the crash. After nearly 4Months I have now revived a letter stating that the claim has been closed on a Without Prejudice Basis. When I contacted Aviva to see what the 3rd party has not accepted full liability they said it was dealt with like this as the 3rd party who crashed into me was not responding to and calls or letters that have send him. Aviva did not asked to see the CCTV of the crash and did not take into account the witness statement. WHAT CAN I DOOO??""

First off, Utah's DMV website has no ****.. so don't tell me to check their website. won't bother to post it here, would I? I'm from Massachusetts, going to school in Utah this summer. I'm looking into having my first car, and it's gonna be a Used Car. Here is the thing, - If I bought it in Utah, I can't register/ change title there because of my Mass license. [I can drive an out of state vehicle as a student, but that is to say I already register the car at home.] - If I bought it in Mass, I can't insure an out of state vehicle in Utah. [ Out of state License + Registration ] Does it mean I have to convert my Mass License in Utah, in either cases? Do I have a third choice, which can make this fuss easier? Or did I get the facts wrong, that you can do the above even with an out of state license? You tell me.... Any out of state college student drivers help me out here..""

Are States legally allowed to require car insurance?
Can the State legally mandate that citizens buy insurance from consumer agencies that have little to no regulation of price and guaranteed service? Can we consider this question with these items. item 1: Premium rates are as high as the industry chooses to set them item 2: Insurance companies are not required to provide to low income families (as are utilities, and other necessity services) item 3: Insurance companies only pay a small percentage (20%) of claims, and only 6% without judication.""

""Friend driving car got into accident in my car in ohio, insurance question?""
I wasn't in the car. I let them go pick up a friend, they were on a semi busy street. My friend was walking up the street and my friend driving the car pulled over with the hazards on to let him in. 10 seconds after getting in the car and closing the door someone slams into the back of my car going between 40-60 mph in a 35mph zone. Totaled other driver's car. My rear end is completely crumpled, but still drivable. I haven't got it checked yet, waiting for the police to contact me in a couple days. Looks like it crumpled all the way to the rear of the frame so it may be bent or busted, so they might say it's totaled. If the other driver was at fault it should be her insurance's responsibility correct? She had full insurance coverage. My friend driving my car has full insurance coverage. I have insurance that only covers bodily injury/property damage liability and medical payments. Who's insurance should cover this?""

Car insurers recommendations?
hi there people, Since passing my test in December, I have been looking to buy (and insure) a car. Shortly I will be able to afford a little run around and have been getting insurance quotes for cars like the Fiesta and Corsa. I have noticed that over the last few months comparison site quotations have jumped from an average of 1800 to 3000 for someone in my circumstances. I have read and understand why car insurance has been hiked up, no win no fee claims are more popluar, fraud and bogus claims and economic recession are responsible for a massive increase in car insurance premiums...Im so angry at these things. I cannot believe this as I though 1800 was extortionate to begin with. I have found Elephant insurance who are quoting me reasonable prices however, back to around the 1800 mark. Please can you recommend any other good car insurers for first time drivers. I am 33 and live in Manchester England. All the big name insurance sites that appear on comparison sites see like a rip off, so any smaller insurers you have had experience of would be useful;, Thanks.""

Could a car insurance agent please answer my question?
I live in CA. I have Mercury insurance. I had 3 old cars on my policy which was too expensive so I sold 2 of them. I was paying $273 monthly automatically deducted from my bank on the 21st of every month. I sold the first car Jan. 29th. On Jan. 30th I took release of liability to AAA DMV and then to my insurance agent asking for the car to be removed from the policy. On February 10th I sold the second car. I took the release form to AAA DMV then straight to the agent asking for release. When I look at my policy deducting the 2 cars my insurance should be about $180 per month. They tell me it will be about $210 per month. Today rolls around, I check my bank account and they have deducted $273 from my checking. I call the 800 number for Mercury. They tell me it needed to be in by February 5th in order to make the billing deadline. Then they said they will NOT refund the money they removed from my account or prorate because under writing takes time. Is this legal??????""

""Car insurance, from provisional to full uk?""
I have recently bought a car (a 2003 Ford Ka 1.3 Collection) & am on a provisional license taking driving lessons atm. Im looking at different car insurance quotes online & am thinking of going with Admiral as it seems like they offer the cheapest car insurance for my situation. As far as I'm aware, I would have to pay approx 1,100 to insurance my car while still on a provisional license, & approx 1,600 with a full uk. (A lot of ppl have said that insurance will be more expensive while on a provisional license but I know for a FACT that it's the other way around seeing as I would have a fully qualified driver with me at all times, meaning that I'm less likely to have an accident!!) Anyway, Because I'm looking at insuring my car for Nov while I still have a provisional license (I'm going to pay it monthly), when I hopefully pass my test at the start of Dec & obviously notify the insurers that I will have passed my test & therefore gotten a full uk license, HOW ON EARTH will that affect my insurance? Insurance companies that offer...?
insurance for cars that are not yours.... ie cars that you rent etc... is it worth getting it? The past couple of years ive had it added to my insurance..... but didn't really fly anywhere, where i needed to rent a car, and have not moved nor am i planning on moving.. but in case in an unforeseen event i have to rent a car............. my two main questions are 1) would the insurance that a rental company offer on their cars be cheaper than the insurance that my own insurance company offers for the rental... or about the same?? 2) if one was to have insurance for rentals, would the rental companies care about it, or force their own insurance upon you? Also..... if they were to accept your insurance company's insurance for their rental.. how would they do it? do you have to fill out extra forms etc? because if its a lot of hassle, and their rates are the same.. then there's no point in adding the rental insurance to my regular insurance right??""

Want to cancel my whole life insurance?

I will get something else, probably term, very soon. I just still know nothing about insurance, so I have a few questions about my policy. I do have whole life insurance, so I should be able to get some money back, right? Currently, I have a $50k plan, and I pay just under $50 a month. I got this policy when I was 18, so the monthly cost seems a little high--especially since I have no dependents or debt. If I die tomorrow, I could still get a really nice funeral (not that I want one) and have it all payed in full from the money I have from my inheritance. Was I ripped off or is this pretty standard? Online, it says my Net Cash Value is $37.97. Is this the money I get back if I cancel? It seems low--it's only about 3.2% of the total amount I've paid. I was expecting some amount closer to 10%. Ideally, I'd like to cancel without talking to my agent. Is there any way I could do it through a general agent or online?""

Do I have too much insurance?
I live in California, where the minimum required liability insurance limits are 15/30/5. I don't know what kind of car I'm getting, so I can't really get the insurance ahead of time. - If I did get pulled over for whatever reason, would the police be understanding if I just bought the car? - How quickly do insurance companies usually get you covered over the phone (particularly, Progressive)? - Do you have to pay a deposit? When? - When would my first actual payment be if I pay once every 6 months? I know these are dumb and basic, but please understand that I have never ever bought a car or gotten car insurance.""
