BASIL (OMORI) — A complete (for now) analysis
spoilers under the cut !! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Tumblr media
BASIL is actually more nuanced than the game makes him out to be, and has hid his emotions far before KEL has, and is as tragic, if not more tragic, as AUBREY is.
HIS CHILDHOOD (^_^)
Let’s start off before he met the friend group. As POLLY says in-game, his parents left him when he was a toddler, with his grandmother being the only one there for him. She also does note that she’s only ever seen them once.
Tumblr media
…This is obviously something that affected BASIL’s life a lot. Being left with only one person—an old one at that. She cares, yes, but the thing is, we don’t know how she was like. All we get is old art, old concepts, but even then, it’s how SUNNY sees her. Maybe she was pretty strict, maybe she was someone that was lax but when upset, her punishments would be severe, traumatizing, even. Even then, despite the fact that he’s left with someone that cares for him, it’s still pretty bad. Why? Because he would realize that she isn’t his parent. That his grandmother isn’t his parent. And that realization hurts. He’s left to wonder why his parents left him. Why his parents abandoned, and neglected him. Why he seemed unwanted compared to others. Was it because they found him to be weak? Was it because they hated him? Was it because they had no time for him? We never know, and he really never did, either. It does not help that canon implies that there was no communication from him to his parents either.
This can actually cause children to feel like an alien. To feel like they are abnormal in comparison to others. To feel like they aren’t human. To feel that they can’t “connect” with society. They don’t know how to interact “properly” with people, because they can’t relate to other’s experiences. Because they have not experienced interacting much with people. Because they don’t know how to relate, they don’t interact much easily. Because they don’t know how to relate, their speech and manner of expression may not be up to standard. They don't know what a “parent’s love” is, a “mother’s love”, or what “love” is in general, because they weren’t exposed to that. This is, most probably, the case with BASIL. Even though he has a grandmother, it’s not really enough. It’s not enough, because it’s not his parents, it’s not the ones who gave birth to him. It’s not the ones who others would say “would love you unconditionally”. It’s not the ones who others would say “would love you the most”.
Considering that it’s his grandmother, BASIL might’ve actually had to tend to himself and mature faster than anyone did. His grandmother is old, and old people do have quite a lot of complications to deal with. Even if they’re healthy, they’re a bit fragile. He might’ve had to run errands for her, do house chores for her, and stuff like that. A grandmother isn’t the most reliable parental figure, because they could fall ill at any moment, they could die at any moment. He probably knows this, actually. If you take the hunter thing as canon, this does kind of add to the… y’know since he does have to see carcasses. We also don’t know if she’s actually nice. We don’t know if she was a good grandmother, we don’t know if she was a bad one either.
… Anyways. All that combined probably makes you think that BASIL would turn out to be a really sad and depressed kid. As in, something like post-incident SUNNY. But… surprisingly, he’s not. He’s happy, smiling, and if you look at the pre-incident art, more than SUNNY (although, SUNNY states that he doesn’t really like to smile in the traditional sense. BASIL sees right through him though, and knows if he’s smiling or not.). He’s smiling more than SUNNY, which admittedly, makes no sense if you take it as something that indicates “Oh!!! BASIL is happier than SUNNY and SUNNY pre-incident is traumatized!!!!” when you consider both of their childhoods. Which brings us to the next point…
THE INSIDE (PRE-INCIDENT) ( T_T)\(^-^ )
While not specifically expressed in canon (SUNNY and OMORI aren’t reliable narrators and their views won’t always be accurate), it is pretty implied that he hides feelings. Probably the most obvious indicators of that would be the fact that he vents to SUNNY, and the existence of STRANGER (who is implied to be the parts of BASIL that Sunny finds “unpleasant” while also being a positive figure and guide to him. Not to say that he dislikes BASIL, but he pretty much has this black and white view when it comes to the world because yeah, he’s young and has experienced a lot less pre-incident) and some parts of BLACKSPACE.
He probably has hid more feelings than the game lets on. Maybe he thinks of himself as “inhuman” and feels “strange” compared to everyone because he can’t relate that well to their experiences with their parents and peers, and uses smiling and laughing as a way to cope and/or cover that. Maybe he thinks of himself as “less”, that sometimes, he feels empty, sad, and even angry, and that’s why he acts the way he does. He involves himself in the activities of the friend group, because he’s so scared of being left alone again. To avoid being forgotten and abandoned, he helps everyone and tries to be the reliable friend everyone needs. Maybe because he’s never been able to make a lot of human interaction, he is the way he is. Maybe, he even exaggerated some of his emotions, for a lack of a better word. He wants to get “in” to the moment, truly feel it for what it is, which leads to his emotions being a mix of genuine and a mix of a slight exaggeration. He feels joy and does feel genuinely happy, but he exaggerates it at times. To him, it will all be but a fleeting moment, and when time comes, the friend group will collapse. He values his relationships with the friend group more than anyone, because to him, they are his true family. He takes photos of them, because he’s afraid to lose them.
Tumblr media
They say, “opposites attract”, correct? Then perhaps the reason why BASIL hangs out more with SUNNY, is because he is the very opposite to him, by technicality. SUNNY isn’t physically expressive with his emotions. SUNNY doesn’t smile, neither does he laugh a lot, but unlike him, But at the same time, SUNNY isn’t empty. SUNNY is so full of life. He is full of dreams, imagination, often good and fantastical. SUNNY has been around people who love and trust him his entire childhood, while BASIL hasn’t. SUNNY has been loved and cherished by everyone his entire childhood, but BASIL hasn’t. BASIL wasn’t as loved and cherished by everyone as SUNNY was. SUNNY had many people care for him before the friend group, while BASIL didn’t. SUNNY experienced parental love, but BASIL didn’t, and will never experience it. In his eyes, SUNNY is perfect, because he experienced what he cannot. Because he is loved by everyone. Because he is cherished, and treasured. He is what BASIL cannot be, and will not ever be. He is the “good person” he wishes to be, yet cannot be.
With that being said, BASIL probably does have trust and abandonment issues that he hid as well. His photo album can be a sign of that. Abandonment issues, caused by his parents leaving and the fact that his grandmother can fall ill / die at any moment, and trust issues caused by the abandonment issues. The photo album is also described as a collection of “things he is afraid to lose”.
He is also implied to be depressed and/or suicidal in a certain incident which will be addressed in the next section
“THE INCIDENT” ∑(゚Д゚)
The incident is a major part of the OMORI story. It is the very thing that serves as the catalyst for all the events ingame. As for this section of the analysis, it will attempt to give a reason—but not excuse—as to why BASIL did what, and what it may imply when it comes to his character. As well as clearing common misconceptions on why a character did certain things and why the misconception is incorrect.
The question “Why did BASIL hang MARI?” is a question asked by a lot of people. The answer to that is… quite simple, and that is because he didn’t want SUNNY to get in trouble, and hated by everyone. “But he could’ve called the ambulance!!! Or even his parents!!!” That is true, but consider, he was in a stressful situation, and he didn’t even know what to do, as witnessing a death of a friend caused by another friend is a hard thing to take. This and the fact that the police and medical services in OMORI FARAWAY seem quite incompetent and/or lacking, considering how AUBREY was able to get away scot-free while having a bat with nails on it. Also, him hanging MARI does also implies that he knows how to tie a noose. While that can be excused as something that comes from gardening, the thing is that. he knows that it’s for suicide, which also in turn, implies that he knows how to commit it. Which is concerning, especially when you take into consideration that he’s a 12 year old, and that it’s pretty rare for a 12 year old to know that back in the time OMORI is implied to have taken place in. The internet also didn’t exist back then, which makes it pretty impossible for Basil to know what suicide is and how to do it unless he planned to do it himself.
A common yet popular misconception in the fandom is that he is the one who scribbled up the photo album, and to that I say, “No, he wasn’t.” It was SUNNY. SUNNY was the one who scribbled up the photos, and BASIL just took the blame so that he wouldn’t get in trouble and be hated by everyone. BASIL actually says that it was SUNNY in an earlier version of the dialogue before the BASIL fight. (SUNNY even takes a step back when the rest of the gang (minus BASIL) hugs AUBREY! Which is an indicator of at least something.
Tumblr media
Another common yet popular misconception is that this is the only reason why BASIL is depressed/sad and that after the game, he’ll go back to being happy again, and to that I say, nope. Absolutely not. It’s not the only reason why BASIL is like that. Even if he healed from the trauma the incident has caused, a lot of his issues are still left unaddressed. The feelings from his grandmother dying, the worsened abandonment and trust issues, the strong yet not acknowledged and repressed feelings from AUBREY bullying him, the feelings from SUNNY leaving him, the feelings from… pretty much everyone leaving him are still there. Him also being suicidal and scared yet again to reunite, because he feels like it will dissolve even faster than before. He’s also still scared that they hate him, and even if they say they don’t, he feels like they’re lying and inside, they hate him and want him to die.
…Also, the incident is not completely BASIL’s fault. He wasn’t the reason why SUNNY shut himself in his room and became a shut-in / hikikomori. And while yes, his SOMETHING is in the shape of hanged MARI, SUNNY became a shut-in / hikikomori due to the guilt of killing Mari, and not because of BASIL hanging her. It’s not BASIL’s fault that SUNNY became a shut-in and that the group fell apart, because the group would’ve fallen apart anyway. It’s just that it’s no longer only SUNNY’s fault that the group did. And even if the hanging didn’t happen, the majority of the group wouldn’t be mature enough to understand the situation fully. We, as the players/readers understand it, because we have almost all of the pieces of the puzzle, but they won’t.
POST-INCIDENT, FARAWAY SECTION (¬_¬)
Before I’d like to start off this segment, what the fandom fails to acknowledge most of the time is that BASIL is 16. He’s not a crybaby. He’s not scared of everything. He’s not a scaredy-cat. Most of those assumptions come from the fandom’s inability to recognize that BASIL has suffered as much as SUNNY and AUBREY have. He is as pained and hurt as them. He was hurt and in pain because of them, too.
The first time we see BASIL, we see him asking for his photo album, but getting bullied and getting told “no” instead. This makes a pretty bad first impression to younger fans and illiterate fans, and because of that, he is often watered down into this “uwu coward soft boy who cries a lot”, which he isn’t. He may seem like it, but he isn’t. The second time we see BASIL, he is at the old hangout spot, and calling for help. This… actually does imply a lot of things, one of them being suicide. He might’ve came there to die in a place where he missed, to look at the place one last time before he would commit suicide, but he was stopped by the hooligans. which most likely bullied him (even though they say they didn’t). And the last time, the sleepover, he either kills himself, or stabs SUNNY in the eye due to hallucinations and stress.
The BASIL we see here, in Faraway, is a more broken version of BASIL. He still acts and hides feelings—or at least tries. It’s not as effective as before. One thing I’d like to point out is the fact that we never really actually see BASIL do anything connected to his past interests. While yes, his photo album being missing may be a part of it, he doesn’t really take photos anymore. We don’t see him taking care of his flowers, either. Maybe he could’ve lost interest in it, as a result of the incident. One POLLY line actually does say that he stopped taking care of his flowers completely at some point before the game.
Tumblr media
BASIL probably doesn’t eat much. We don’t see BASIL eat the food in the time SUNNY and KEL were in his house. POLLY does state that he’s been going to the bathroom a lot, too.
Tumblr media
That aside, let’s get deeper into it. BASIL, in faraway, is most likely at the lowest point of his life. He had to see his friends leave him one by one (even KEL! even HERO!), and have one bullying him. He no longer has an outlet for his extremely bottled up emotions. He doesn’t have anyone, and his grandmother fell ill as well. POLLY is also paid to be there for him too, which means she doesn’t really count as someone he has. She isn’t close to him, either. She isn’t as close to him as the fandom makes her out to be. She cares, yes. But she isn’t close to BASIL at all. She does say it as well
Tumblr media
The reason behind why BASIL stabbed SUNNY’s eye was because he was hallucinating, and not because he actually wanted to stab SUNNY. He stabbed SUNNY’s eye because he thought his eye was a part of SOMETHING (that… he is implied to hallucinate heavier for whatever reason), and not SUNNY. Although, it’s not completely all because of that, it’s a key part of it. His repressed anger and hatred, him being genuinely upset, as well as his desire to protect SUNNY from SOMETHING—a thing that he genuinely and wholeheartedly believes is real and something that exists in reality—is also a part of it too. This part does not mean that BASIL put his selfish desires first, this does not mean that BASIL puts his desire to keep his best friend above SUNNY’s safety. This doesn’t mean that he’s only concerned with what SUNNY can do for him and not concerned with what is best for him. BASIL was going through a breakdown, so a lot of the things he says are in this confused state where he doesn’t know what he’s feeling, what is really happening, and isn’t thinking clearly. BASIL is not doing all this with a clear head and mind. Both the safety of SUNNY and not wanting SUNNY to leave are both on the forefront of his mind, it’s just that, because of the overwhelming stress and the fact that his thoughts aren’t that clear, his method and way of protecting SUNNY is a bit “confusing”. He cares, he cares for SUNNY’s safety, but in this context, the “normal” way of caring doesn’t apply, because the situation isn’t really normal to begin with. The part where he states that he’ll end both of their pains (by murder-suicide) is most likely out of stress, because his situation is extremely stressful, and it’s sad that nobody recognizes it.
He also does use toxic positivity, saying “Everything will be okay…” even if it won’t. It’s just… less recognized.
POST-INCIDENT RELATIONSHIPS & WHAT LIES BEYOND (・・?)
BASIL, post-incident, probably also does have a lot of hidden feelings as well. This time, feelings like anger and even hatred towards his friends, an intense and deeper emptiness, and a lot more worsened negative feelings are added to it.
BASIL still thinks of himself as “weird” compared to everyone else in the friend group, especially after the incident. He feels inhuman, even worse now because if people knew what he did, he knows that they would think of him as a monster and someone unforgivable. He knows now that what he did could be considered inhuman, and feels regret for it. His problems have been intensified, his mental health took a nosedive, and so much more.
With that being said, deep down, maybe he did resent SUNNY. For leaving him when they promised that they would be there for each other. For leaving for 4 years and making him bear the brunt of the judgment. For leaving him when he needed help the most. For leaving him and letting him take fault for something he did (blacking out the photos). But he can’t help but still love him through all of that, whether you take it platonically or romantically. They are tied by a string of fate, they will find each other no matter what, and will try to forgive themselves and each other. The path to recovery is laid with hardships, and complicated feelings. BASIL and SUNNY are each other’s weakness, but each other’s reasons for going on. SUNNY’s desire to save HEADSPACE BASIL that carried on to the FARAWAY BASIL, and BASIL’s desire to see SUNNY again, if only for a while. It is not only KEL who helped SUNNY stay alive, but BASIL as well. Even if BASIL thinks that he’s too far gone to be found, if he’s someone who cannot be helped anymore, SUNNY still tries to help him. SUNNY wants to help him. It is not BASIL that forces him to, but SUNNY’s own desire. BASIL doesn’t force him to, he asks him to, but not force him. SUNNY is doing it on his own accord, because he wants to help BASIL. BASIL understands SUNNY, and SUNNY understands BASIL, both on a much deeper level than anyone else. They have hurt each other, yes, but everyone in the group has hurt each other at some point. They are each other’s triggers, but they are also each other’s sources of comfort. They are why they were able to face and accept the truth of the accident and incident. It is because of each other that SUNNY was able to accept that MARI died, and that SUNNY was the one who was at fault when it comes to MARI’s death and the accident. Even if SUNNY lost his eye because of BASIL, it is also because of BASIL that he was able to remember and face the truth of the accident and incident.
Now, to AUBREY, deep down, he probably resents her too, possibly much more than SUNNY. One thing that I’d like to mention is that bullying is, in fact, a form of abuse. I’m not calling AUBREY an abuser, but she did do fucked up things. She was a horrible person, but she wasn’t evil. He’s not calm because he understands, he’s calm because he thinks the one at fault. He thinks he deserves it. He understands, yes, but that’s not why he’s calm. He’s calm because he genuinely thinks there’s something wrong with him, and that he’s the one who needs to adjust. People who get bullied tend to think that there’s something wrong with them, that they have to be the one to adjust, especially if said person was close to you before it. Some don’t realize it’s bullying either until they reflect and think more about it, especially if they were once a friend, or a family member. Technically, what she did Is abuse, since bullying is considered abuse. It doesn’t matter if it was verbal abuse at first, it still counts as it. Verbal bullying is STILL bullying, and it is also still abuse. It’s a pretty gray area when it comes to AUBREY, because I don’t want to be too harsh and call her an abuser, but yeah. In terms of forgiveness, words and feelings don’t matter without actions, much like how actions don’t matter much without the words, which is why AUBREY does need to be treated a bit harsher by the fandom, since the bullying isn’t something you should brush off when it comes to analyzing BASIL’s character. Forgiveness from BASIL will take a long time, it’s going to be a rocky road for them to be even comfortable with each other, for BASIL to not flinch every time AUBREY tries to get close. To not feel uncomfortable whenever she even gets close. Which is not a thing that is acknowledged when it comes to BASIL.
Onto KEL. I think it’s pretty clear that KEL and BASIL haven’t interacted much before the 3 days left. KEL even acts surprised about BASIL being there, with this line.
Tumblr media
While there isn’t much to say about them, BASIL might’ve resented him too, just not as much as SUNNY and especially AUBREY. KEL left him too, even if KEL mentioned that they wouldn’t really respond, it doesn’t stop BASIL from feeling that way. Maybe he would’ve resented the fact that he seemed to prioritize SUNNY over him, maybe he would’ve felt like he was less important to the eyes of KEL. And while yes, this may not make sense to us players/viewers because we know why KEL is knocking, BASIL doesn’t know. The mind is both rational and irrational, after all. Even if another person feels something, it does not stop someone from feeling, well, another thing. BASIL most likely doesn’t know if he should resent him or not, he knows that it might be because SUNNY’s house is marked “for sale”, but he wishes the same effort was spent for him, as well. He might’ve felt like KEL prioritized him the least, he might of thought that KEL sees him as “less”. Keep in mind, his feelings and thoughts are not necessarily true, so these aren’t facts. KEL does care, but it doesn’t stop BASIL from feeling like that. (Just thought I had to make that clear because some people might take this wrongly)
BASIL and HERO… There isn’t much to say about this segment. While it’s understandable that HERO left because of college, sometimes he does resent him for leaving like everyone else. He resents all of them for leaving, some even more because of certain factors or actions. But…
BASIL still loves all his friends. He does. He cherishes them all, but he can’t help but feel that way towards all of them. He can’t help it. He feels disgusted for feeling that way towards all of them, he feels disgusted for feeling negatively, but he can’t help but still feel it. No matter how much he tries to tell himself he doesn’t deserve to feel like that towards his friends, to think negatively of them, he will always feel these things deep down.
POST-TRUTH REVEAL FEELINGS AND POST-GAME SPECULATIONS (´ー`)
Post game, a lot of BASIL’s problems go unsolved. He isn’t exactly portrayed to have reconciled with the rest. While yes, you can take the “Let’s make new memories together, okay?” line as BASIL wanting to make new memories with his friends, it’s DREAM BASIL that says that, and he, despite looking like FARAWAY BASIL, isn’t BASIL himself, so that isn’t reliable. His grandmother, his only source of comfort for those 4 years also dies, leaving him with someone who he isn’t sure he can trust due to her being there because of a job, and obligation. All that combined does just feel like instead of getting better, his problems will just fester into something worse. He’s basically alone as well. Even more so due to the reactions to the truth. SUNNY left yet again, he took the brunt of the reactions, he isn’t close to the friend group, he is still suicidal. POLLY isn’t someone who is a mother figure to BASIL. She isn’t even close to him. He doesn’t even feel comfortable with her.
… That’s not saying that the friend group won’t try to get closer to him again, because yeah, they do have a chance to try to get closer to him, it’s just that BASIL’s issues and problems go unresolved because he probably won’t open up to them for a while, or even open up to them at all. His problems still aren’t solved, either. Yeah, sure, he might admit some things, but they won’t be the closest anymore. It’ll probably take a very long time for BASIL to even warm up to them again. Might even take 2 years. Maybe he even tries to be more like himself pre-incident because he perceives it as a way for him to be redeemed in their eyes, but because of that, he hurts himself even more. He wants to be himself around everyone, but maybe he feels that “himself” isn’t who they want.
This part is mostly just speculation, although it is something that should be acknowledged more. His problems are still there, and even if you give him therapy, his problems will still be there, therapy is not something that solves your problems, it helps you until you can deal with it. It is not something that will magically make you emotionally intelligent, but more of something that helps you identify emotions better.
CONCLUSION ☆彡
Overall, I think BASIL is the character least talked about in this much depth, and often mischaracterized along with HERO and MARI. Many people fail to recognize that he’s also as tragic as SUNNY AND AUBREY are. Many people fail to recognize that his issues go far beyond the incident as well. Not a lot of people recognize that SUNNY’s issues and trauma isn’t worse than BASIL

gravity falls omori au
does ford still do collage or does he hide away in his room?
who plays the part of hero Adrey, basil and kel?
is fiddleford going to be basil because i just get that vibe from him?
will bill use stans death to manipulate ford into creating the portal?
will ford go to gravity falls or is this au only going to be set in new jersey?
what would ford dream self be called because in game omori was the name of sunny dream self?
what will ford dreams be like, will they be pirate adventure dreams or something else?
how does ford hide stan body as there seems to be not a lot of tall trees nearby for ford to hang stans body from expressly without being caught?
i ran out of questions and sorry for the asking 8 of them its either i ask now or ask all of the questions on septet post
I feel like he’d want to hide away but his parents would force him to go to college.
Dipper, Caryn, Shermie, and Mabel.
The incident happened before Ford went to college so he and Fiddleford haven’t met yet.
Well Ford’s headspace is actually a product of Bill. He asked him to get rid of anything that could hold him back from his studies and Bill created Headspace to put his mind at ease, but it can easily turn into a horror nightmare when Bill needs to remind him who’s in charge.
Yeah, he’ll be in Gravity Falls.
Sixer.
Mostly that but there are some other fun stuff mixed in based on their childhood.
Instead of hanging him in a forest, Ford took Stan’s corpse upstairs to the bathroom, filled up a tub of water, dumped the corpse inside, and then wrote a suicide note. He’s had a small fear of water since then (which is why he doesn’t shower as much).

A nice and positive S/O who takes antidepressants.
Tumblr media
Darling, you are literally my breath of fresh air. My brain has been rotting so much lately from Mouthwashing (Hear me out on Swansea) and my "great" grades that I simply lost the strength to write anything and the craving for Omori for a while, but now, it has returned a little, and I will try to write a little more, but the key word is: try. Also, I apologize in advance for the mistakes, since I still use a translator to write posts, since I do not trust myself and my level of English, LMAO. And do not worry! I don’t really have any triggers for anything, and even if I do, I usually meet them, trying to work through them (Oh well, I just like to study myself, in any case, I have already worked through most of them), so I will take your request anyway! To put it simply, I do everything except illegal or romanticized things (Example: Pedophilia (adult Character x child reader), zoophilia, Yandere romanticization, necrophilia romanticization, drug romanticization, etc.). In any case, I will update the list. (Also, sorry for the delay, preparing for the New Year, etc.). I did not add Mari, because I think that in the dream world, it is unlikely that Omori had anyone suffer right in front of him. But if necessary, I will make her separately. Merry Christmas from Russia! (We still have 3 hours and 24 minutes until Christmas)
Characters: RW Omori gang (Hero, Kel, Sunny, Basil, Aubrey.)
TW: GN! reader, antidepressants, diagnosed depression, romantic relationships, action takes place after Mari's death, foul language, drug references.
Hero
•Well, you must have strong antidepressants, since Hero didn't notice any hints of depression in you at first.
•It would seem, how could he not recognize his comrade in misfortune?
•Of course, after Mari's death, he fell into obvious depression of the 3rd or 4th degree.
•He didn't eat, didn't drink, didn't even wash, he simply didn't have the strength.
•He didn't have the strength for anything, but the incident with his younger brother Kel made him at least try to rethink his condition and his thoughts a little.
•He was a fucking egoist, thinking that he was the only poor and unhappy one here.
•But he wasn't alone.
•Mari's parents, her brother, their friends, he wasn't the only sufferer here.
•So Hero tried to get out of the endless pit of despondency and depression, without a psychotherapist and magic pills.
•But it is almost impossible to get rid of depression, you can only hold it back for a while or run away from it, but sooner or later it will come and take root in the brain if you do not return to proper treatment.
•He needed a goal, at least some kind of one, so that he could at least stay alive for something, so as not to hear all the thoughts that his brain sent.
•But what did he want himself?
•To study, and live his whole life with Mari.
•Can he do it?
•No.
•And what do his parents want?
•For him to become a successful doctor and be the pride of the family.
•That is the ideal goal.
•From that moment until now, Hero has been studying with all his might to become an excellent doctor, thanks to which he began to go into remission.
•That is when he met you, at that very moment.
•Sweet, kind, cheerful and funny, always sees the positive in everything.
•That is exactly how he saw you.
•If he started to remember, he could swear that you were always happy, because he had never seen any emotion on your face except joy and tenderness.
•Honestly, it was even scary, but Hero didn’t really notice it.
•Thanks to you, he crawled out of the web of despair and depression more intensively.
•But what he didn’t expect was that you would also be depressed, like him.
•But there was one thing that distinguished you: You were undergoing treatment, taking antidepressants and seeing a psychiatrist, and he was not.
•It happened completely by accident.
•He was visiting you at home while he was waiting for you to get ready for a walk.
•Your room was not the cleanest in the world, but it was clearly better than his room during that very period of depression.
•He was studying your room and accidentally stumbled upon something on your desk.
•Some kind of box with pills.
•He thought that these were vitamins, because it was autumn, and it was necessary to support immunity.
•But as soon as he read the text, his eyes widened in surprise.
•"Antidepressants. Sold only by prescription!"
•You were in the same situation as him, only you were undergoing treatment.
•How could he not notice this? He had been in the same situation just a couple of years ago!
•The eyes cannot see everything, and this means that the antidepressants worked very well and helped.
•He put the pills back, and as soon as you returned to the room, Hero hugged you tightly, pressing you to himself.
•Maybe you didn’t understand anything, but Hero didn’t care anymore.
Kel
•Kel is not the smartest guy, sometimes slow-witted, but clearly not a dumbass.
•Moreover, Kel himself is like that.
•He is always cheerful for others, trying to help everyone and reunite everyone, refusing to help himself.
•Maybe no one really cared about him and he was neglected, but this does not mean that he cannot care for others.
•Give what he himself never had.
•However, since he did not have it, his support and care can sometimes be... Awkward.
•Kel has not been able to choose his words correctly since childhood, speaking directly, and in general first speaking, and only then thinking and realizing that he yelped at all.
•Although, it is quite cute to watch him try.
•In general, for all the time he spent with you, he never once thought that something was wrong with you.
•Or maybe he didn't want to accept it.
•Can a rather cheerful and sweet person rot in bed while his brain rots through and through from terrifying thoughts?
•Of course he can.
•His jaw dropped when he found out that you were taking antidepressants.
•Honestly, he himself didn't really notice that you and he were quite similar in this.
•Yes, sometimes he gets sad, and very sad, but he wrote it all off to autumn, the weather, fatigue, anything but depression.
•Moreover, do you think that his parents would take him to a psychiatrist? Oh please.
•Moreover, he thinks that he doesn't deserve it.
•His task since childhood was to make everyone happy, well, that was in second place, of course, in first place was the task of growing up and being taller than his older brother.
•He won't stand on ceremony or choose his words like his older brother Hero.
•He'll ask directly, even if the topic wasn't about that.
•Then it's your choice whether to open up to him or brush him off.
Sunny
•I think Sunny would be the first to know about it, but he would keep quiet.
•He is always quiet and calm, but his ears work very well, as does his brain.
•He sees all the signs, but he keeps quiet.
•He sometimes sees your false lies in your smile, he sees how your eyes run away from him and how you try to hide your negative emotions from him.
•You can’t suppress emotions, no matter what, it can end very badly, he knows.
•In the world of dreams, he made you happy, the one who is already truly happy, the one who does not hide her negative emotions from him, sincere.
•He does not complain that you can hide your sadness and other negativity from him, he understands that you do not want to burden him.
•He believes that if you want, then you yourself will tell him everything and express it.
•You understand, he is not a telepath, he cannot read minds.
•Of course, he worries about you, he loves you after all.
•And to understand that you are simply rotting, and your brain is being eaten away by terrible thoughts, like a tumor, makes him feel sad and helpless.
•At first, he could only guess, but when he finally saw you taking antidepressants, everything fell into place and his guesses were confirmed.
•He will not say, he will never say anything, it is not his style.
•Moreover, unlike his best friend Kel, Sunny understands that this topic is quite delicate for you.
•He will pretend that everything has remained the same as before, but with small particles of care for you.
•He was in the same state as you, but he escaped into sleep.
•Sometimes he will help with household chores, somewhere he will hug, somewhere else he will show affection and care.
•Of course, you can only guess what is the reason for such increased affection from your boyfriend.
•But he will not say anything, he will remain silent.
Basil
•He probably wouldn't even think about it, and even if he did, he wouldn't fully believe it until you told him straight to his face.
•Honestly, he wouldn't even think about it, he was alone for so long, keeping a terrible secret to himself, carrying this burden only on his shoulders.
•Of course, he wouldn't even think about it, he would just enjoy you and your company.
•He would speak out to you, lying next to you, burying his face in your stomach, chest or shoulder and snuggling like a homeless kitten.
•Can you call him selfish? Yes, but is it his fault? He spent 4 years alone, and then suddenly a person appeared who loves him and is ready to listen to him.
•That's why he didn't even think about the fact that you might feel bad.
•As soon as he found out that you were actually taking antidepressants, you would know how ashamed he was.
•You felt so bad, and he was still complaining to you, burdening you.
•He just wanted to bury himself somewhere deep, hide from everyone.
•As soon as he finds out about this, his behavior will clearly change.
•At first, he will become clearly sad, of course, he will try to hide it, but it does a terrible job.
•He will clearly be all awkward, trying to help you with everything to get rid of the feeling of guilt, but because of the same feeling of guilt, he does not want to impose himself, and believes that he is not worthy of even looking at you.
•So you will immediately understand that something is wrong.
•But you will have to directly extort from him what happened, since he will not want to tell you everything.
•As a result, you will have to calm him down, and not he you.
Aubrey
•This is where it gets tricky.
•She's quite protective and aggressive.
•She's always ready to protect those she loves, and you're her top priority.
•She would have thought at first that you were just an innocent and cheerful person who needed to be protected from the rot in this world.
•The way you enjoy the little things, help others, and respond with kindness even to the most terrible insults.
•It all made her think that there are kind souls in the world who are untainted by anything.
•She was wrong.
•When she saw you taking some pills, she first thought that you were just sick, but then darker thoughts started to creep into her head.
•Honestly, she thought that you were just taking drugs.
•Well, that would have explained why you were always so cheerful and kind.
•In fact, she doesn't really trust cheerful and kind people, especially tactile ones.
•Thanks to her mother and other relatives, she has had the idea since childhood that all cheerful and kind adults are just drunks, ready to commit horrific acts for a bottle of vodka.
•Running up to you and grabbing your hand, she raised it, looking at you with anger and fear.
•And just as she wanted to yell at you, accuse you of everything possible, her gaze darted to the name.
•"Antidepressants."
•Antidepressants?...
•She was clearly in shock, in very strong shock.
•Not right away, but she let go of your hand, looking at you with distrust and surprise.
•She didn't even have words.
•What the fuck should she say!?
•All she could do was just come up to you and hug you tightly, pressing you to herself.
•She may not have had words, but she clearly had hands and the ability to touch you.
•Yes, she was not used to tactility, and she did not like it, but for your sake she was ready to step over herself.

Yo so I've had an idea for a fantasy/medieval omori au for about a year now that I've pretty much never had the opportunity to post about, mainly cause I would have a hard time drawing up designs for the characters. So I've decided I'm just gonna make a post describing what I've got for the au so far, cause I've put enough thought into it to at least tell people about it:
As stated, the AU takes place in a medieval/fantasy setting, and mainly focuses on Sunny and Mari, the prince and princess of the Faraway Kingdom. Both of the siblings have never been happy about their royalty status, especially with the issue of becoming king/queen. For Mari, she's expected to marry a prince from another kingdom and become that kingdom's queen, but she doesn't want to leave Faraway and marry someone she doesn't know. Sunny just doesn't want to become king in general, as the idea of it stresses him out.
When Sunny is 12 and Mari is 15, they find out that their parents are intending to step down within the next few years, meaning that the siblings will be forced to assume their positions of king and queen much sooner than they expected. They aren't happy about this news, and that night, as the two of them open up to each other about how much they hate the roles they've been forced into, Mari gets the idea of sneaking out of the castle for a night to get some fresh air and relieve their stress. Important to note that Mari and Sunny are not allowed to leave the castle by themselves, something they've also always disliked about their status as royalty. Sunny is convinced and the two of them sneak out, wearing cloaks to hide their identities.
While out in the kingdom, they run into Kel, Hero, Aubrey, and Basil (the four of them already know each other by this time), and the siblings immediately get along well with them. Afterwards, what started out as just one night of sneaking out turns into a routine for Sunny and Mari, and after spending more time with the other four and becoming close to them, they eventually reveal their true identities to them
I don't have much else in terms of main plot after this, so I'll move on to character information I got
Hero: He helps his family at the bakery that they own, and that he himself will be expected to run one day when he's older. While Hero enjoys baking and is glad to help his family, he is discouraged by the fact that the bakery doesn't get much business, and so his family struggles financially as a result. The bakery was one of the first places that Sunny and Mari went to when they left the castle for the first time, and they continue to visit it frequently. Hero and Mari do end up falling in love, but Mari is saddened by the fact that she shouldn't be with him due to her being forbidden from being with a commoner
Kel: He's also expected to run the bakery along with Hero, but it's not something that interests him. He finds it difficult to focus on baking and he hates being cooped up in a kitchen all day, and he much prefers going out and about. One day, he takes notice of the kingdom's dragon riders, those who train dragons and ride on them for delivery and scouting. Kel is intrigued and ends up talking with their captain, who likes Kel's enthusiasm and offers to train him to become a dragon rider, which Kel accepts. The dragon Kel is assigned to train is a fluffy, orange and white one named Hector
Aubrey: Okay I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't quite figured out what's going on with Aubrey? Backstory wise I'm thinking she wasn't originally from the Faraway Kingdom and she started living there after she ran away from her shitty mom. Also like in canon she met Basil before the others did, she protected him after she saw someone heckling him. Besides that I haven't thought of what she's actually doing yet...
Basil: He is a mage who lives with his grandmother on the outskirts of the kingdom's borders. His grandmother is also a mage, he got his powers from her, and she teaches Basil how to use them, with Basil specializing in plant-based magic
Omori: A young dragon who was cursed into a human form (this takes place two years after the story's start, Sunny's 14 by this point). He's found by Sunny and Mari after sneaking into the courtyard during a storm, and they sneak him into the castle, concerned by how thin he is, and they basically end up adopting him. Omori starts off very quiet, and even after he starts talking more, he's very secretive about his past and where he's from, refusing to elaborate any more than the fact that he's not from Faraway
Stranger: An ancient and powerful faerie who lives in the deepest and darkest part of the woods outside Faraway, along with many mysterious crows who act as his spies. Humans and magical creatures alike know not to trespass on his part of the woods, as he's notorious for cursing those who get in his way. He was the one who cursed Omori, and did so after Omori entered his part of the woods and killed and ate one of his crows

A ColorTheory!au!
All characters are assigned a color that kind of represents them in the game, right? Like how Mari is given purple and Kel is given orange. What if those colors designated what kind of people those characters would be? Colors can be interpreted into actions, feeling, and status. Thats the idea behind this AU.
Mari- Purple
Purple is often depicted as a “royal” color, with many royal figures in cartoons and other forms of media shown wearing this color (ex: Kinger from The Amazing Digital Circus). It is often also depicted as a color representing wisdom and ambition.
Mari is a princess of royal blood, inherited from her father. She is known for her wisdom and knowledge, as well as her beautiful voice and calming nature. She gives off the strong scent of lavender and sugar. Mari is the older sister to Sunny, her stunted younger brother.
Sunny- Black
Black is often depicted as an “evil” color, with many villains in media shown wearing this color, though this color can also represent wealth, elegance, and most importantly, power.
Sunny is a prince born of royal blood, inherited by both his mother and father. He is known for his practice in magic, as well as for his quiet and elegant demeanor. He is the heir to the family throne due to his more powerful coloring. He often smells of metal and ink. He is the younger brother to Mari, his older sister.
Kel- Orange/Yellow
Orange and yellow are often depicted as “bold” colors. They are often also depicted as colors representing enthusiasm and optimism, as well as happiness.
Kel is a boy of great joy, spreading it all around to the people he knows. He inherited his orange and yellow genes from his mother and father. He works as the court jester for Sunny and Mari’s family. He often smells of citrus and leather. Kel is the younger brother to Hero, his older brother.
Hero- Blue
Blue is often depicted as a “calm” color. It is often also depicted as a color representing truth and stability. Sadness is also linked to this color.
Hero is Sunny’s advisor, someone who checks over his work on the family’s finances and checks. Hero met Mari through Sunny and the two became great “pals”, much to the suspicion of Mari’s father. He inherited his color from seemingly recessive genes in his parents, with them being both warm colors. He is the older brother to Kel, his younger brother.
More later.

Hero's Misery
Genre: Angst Summary: Hero's POV on some of the events in Omori, leading to the bad ending. TW: Suicide.
His whole life Hero was told he was perfect.
So much so that Hero started believing it himself.
But then, people didn't just say Hero was perfect. His mom squealed at his perfect friend group. His dad congratulated him for getting the perfect girlfriend. His classmates were jealous of his perfect parents, perfect family.
Then soon Hero realized that everything in his life was perfect. Perfect grades, perfect personality, perfect little brother, perfect parents, perfect friend group, perfect girlfriend.
He wasn't just the perfect person, he had the perfect life too.
He– as many people described it– was living the dream life many people wished to have.
He didn't want anymore since that would be greedy and perfect is not greedy-
And he was happy. He was happy with his perfect little life.
He loved his life.
___________________
Hero has only been to a funeral once.
He was 8 at the time and it was for some relatives that he had never met, but he quickly decided that he didn't like them.
It was suffocating, the pained sobs that surround him, the somber atmosphere.
He tried to imagine what it was like to lose a loved one, not to much success.
But now, he really can say how much he hates funerals.
Mari is just a few feet in front of him. Mari, his beautiful perfect beloved girlfriend, laying cold in a coffin.
She didn't deserve to die. She should've realized how so many people loved her and cared for her and would be miserable if she died.
He can't believe he didn't notice. He was her boyfriend goddammit! He couldn't even see Mari was struggling. He should've seen through it and helped her.
Hero's nickname hasn't felt more unfitting until today.
He shut his eyes, not wanting to see Mari's cold dead body surrounded by flowers. He could hear the cries of many people, and he knew that his friends were crying their hearts out too.
Kel, Sunny, Basil, Aubrey, Mari's parents, and himself. There were so many people that cared about Mari. So why?! Why did she do it?
For the first time in a long time, Hero wept. He sobbed until he felt hollow inside.
The day that death took Mari, it didn't just take her, it took a part of Hero too.
___________________
Hero has been rotting in his bed since that day. His whole life felt pointless since he couldn’t even see how much Mari was suffering. How could he live if he couldn’t even help one person?
His head ached and he felt like vomiting, but he didn’t move an inch, just continuing to think of all that he could’ve done to help.
At some point, Kel came up to him, saying something along the lines of going to the park, smiling.
Hero felt something snap in him. How dare he smile after what Mari did to herself. Mari ended her suffering and he was happy?!
Hero remembers screaming insults at Kel until both of them were in tears.
Eventually, his parents came into their room, ignoring Kel to go comfort him.
Hero snapped out of his daze when he saw Kel wiping up his own tears, pushing past his parents to go apologize and comfort him.
Hero promised Kel to never do that again.
___________________
Hero was going to a pretty good college, that was only a couple hours away from home. He was studying to be a doctor, and despite his passion for cooking, he decided that this was the best route for him.
He wouldn’t say that he was attractive, but sometimes he could feel the stares that some girls gave him, while excitedly whispering to their friends.
Some girls even confessed to him! He never accepted them though, and his college friends tell him to “loosen up” or something.
It’s just… how can he have another girlfriend after Mari? Hell, he thought Mari was the woman he’d marry! It would feel unfaithful if he just got another girlfriend.
The sorrow that he felt after he thought that was immeasurable, the thoughts of what he should’ve and could’ve done to help threatened to flood his mind, leaving him to uselessly mope in his bed like he did those years ago.
Hero shook off those thoughts.
Right now, he should focus on his schoolwork.
___________________
When going back home from college, Hero expected to relax and destress from college, but he definitely didn’t expect to save Sunny from drowning.
It was an unexpected “surprise”, but Hero was quite happy to see that Sunny was outside. Especially since he was so pale… and skinny… and generally not healthy. But Kel told him that Sunny was moving, which is a good thing, since… the memories this place holds….
Aubrey dyed her hair pink, which did look good on her, Mari was supposed to dye her hair purple and she’s… in a gang? Apparently, she’s also the one who shoved him in the lake and has been bullying him. He’s worried about her, maybe he shouldn’t have left after all.
Well, everything is going well. He may have gotten his mom mad, but of course, he made it up to her!
They even decided to have a sleepover at Sunny’s house! Just like old times!
For the first time in a long time, he felt that things were looking up.
___________________
The next day was quite eventful, they successfully managed to talk to Aubrey (well, he did), and Hero regretted not being out for them all. He’s the oldest, so he should’ve made sure everyone was okay.
But, they got all the photos back in the photo album! And they went to Basil’s house to go apologise for not being there for him (and bullying him on Aubrey’s part). But unfortunately, Basil’s grandma died, and it probably wasn’t the best time to apologize. Basil’s caretaker did let them stay the night, so he was confident that they could fix everything.
But that night is where everything went wrong.
Hero awoke to Sunny not being next to him, which seemed normal, as he could’ve been in the bathroom, but Hero kept on hearing… noises, so he got out of his quilt and decided to check it out.
He knocked on the bathroom door. Nothing. The noises were coming from Basil’s bedroom, and even though Hero didn’t want to disturb Basil’s privacy, he opened the door.
“Basil is Sunn-” Hero didn’t get to finish as he saw the state Sunny was in, his eye was bleeding, and Basil was holding the weapon.
What happened next was a blur, just him screaming for help and calling an ambulance.
...And that’s what made them end up here, in a hospital, in Basil’s room.
They would press for answers, but since Basil was in an unstable condition, they decided the questions could come later.
They stayed there for a bit, making sure Basil was at least not going to have a nervous breakdown.
“We should probably see if Sunny’s awake,” He said.
Aubrey and Kel nodded.
“Ah…okay.” Basil looked sad, “I have to apologize to him…” He muttered that last part.
As they were walking out of the room Kel said, “We’ll see you in a bit, Basil!”
But when they went to Sunny’s room, surprisingly, he wasn’t in his bed.
“Maybe he’s in the washroom?” Kel said.
“Well, he definitely shouldn’t be out of bed.” He responded.
“Well, then let's split up,” Aubrey said, “Kel you check the bathrooms, Hero you can check… the hallways? And I guess I’ll check where Hero doesn’t.”
“Sounds like a plan to me!” Kel said, and they were off.
Before Hero checked the hallways, he just wanted to make sure of one thing… Hero ran to the rooftop, hoping and praying Sunny wasn’t there. He…probably wasn’t right? He wouldn’t do that to them…
But as he got to the rooftop, he saw Sunny. The pale, skinny unhealthy boy that locked himself in his house because of what his sister did. And he was about to follow in her footsteps.
Some time ago, Mari made him promise her if anything happened to her he’d protect Sunny. He was not going to break that promise.
“SUNNY! Sunny, please get away from that edge, please.” He begged.
Sunny didn’t look at him, just staring at the ground below him.
He tried again, “Sunny, please. I know you miss her– I do too –but we can’t have someone else die. Not again.” He took a deep breath, taking a few steps forward “I- I don’t think we’ll survive this time Sunny. We- We care for you! All of us do, Kel, Aubrey, Basil, and me! Please, Mari wouldn’t want you to do this!”
Sunny looked back at him, his eyes dark and lifeless.
“Sunny-”
But then he smiled. It was the brightest smile he’d seen Sunny give after Mari died, it was like…
He was at peace with himself.
Hero’s eyes widened at that, starting to run to Sunny.
Sunny jumped off.
“SUNNY!”
Hero failed again.
End!
Not my best work... but I still liked writing this. Maybe I'll write perspectives on the other characters... - Sage

MARI Headcanons
(Discontinued)
Tumblr media
A/N: Another one from my Wattpad! I had a lot of fun with this one! Please enjoy! :)
Warnings: One mention of death at the very, very end.
Word Count: 1.1k
Tumblr media
- My mom first of all.
- A big thing I believe for MARI is that she's on the autism spectrum. She's not on the severe side but is still on the spectrum.
- When she was younger she didn't really know what was considered to be the 'societal normal'. She was too honest, often not understanding why people would be upset at her if she told them something that was her just trying to help them.
- She didn't really know what was wrong with being completely, unfiltered, nor did she understand why people were mad at her when she didn't act like she cared for what they like if she didn't like it.
- Her parents tried to explain it to her but she didn't really understand.
- When she met HERO she immediately took interest in him as she saw him as perfect, he just seemed to do everything right, which wasn't necessarily a good thing, but she didn't know that!
- HERO helped her out with understanding what was considered right and wrong, telling her what was the best thing to do in certain situations.
- She definitely copied HERO's personality as best as she could, seeing him as who she wanted to be and since everyone liked him he had to be doing something right!
- HERO was one of MARI's biggest inspirations growing up, along with her dad!
- Whenever MARI needs help with anything she doesn't ask for that help often as she copied and grew up with HERO's perfectionist personality, making her hardly ever need help as she's just made herself good at everything.
- But if she really needs help she'll go to HERO or her dad! Though preferably HERO first, since she's just always felt closer to him.
-  The life lessons she teaches mostly KEL and AUBREY, but sometimes SUNNY, and BASIL were all things her parents tried to teach her.
- She hates not being able to play that many sports and games with KEL and AUBREY, she really wants to. Her favorites are to play tag with KEL and catch with AUBREY.
- She likes to tease HERO, she finds his reactions hilarious and adorable. But she also likes to protect him from teasing.
- Likes to tease BASIL, SUNNY, and KEL as well! But mostly HERO!
- Doesn't really get why SUNNY is so quiet but she doesn't really mind, she tries to encourage him to be more open with people!
- The same applies to BASIL, she doesn't really understand why he's so shy but she'll still encourage him to the best of her abilities!
- Really likes hanging out with KEL, she sees her younger self in him and is wanting to help him learn how to treat people nicely and respectfully!
- Took up baking and cooking because she wanted foods and sweets that her parents weren't making because she's a picky eater, it ended up becoming a hobby she enjoys!
- She's very creative! Not only does she enjoy music and the deeper meaning behind it but she also enjoys poetry and writing!
- MARI has a hyperfixation on music, mainly the piano but a few other instruments as well.
- KEL likes to make fun of her for this which is usually responded with HERO shushing KEL and apologising to MARI over and over again as he tells her "HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND!"
- Helpless romantic, like, this girl loves herself a romantic novel and is always replacing the two love interests with her and HERO, she'd never tell him that though.
- This is also why she likes waltz! Love interests always seem to waltz in a ballroom together, and she hopes one day that'll be her and her love interest.
- She likes to waltz with MEWO. Though MEWO's usually very unimpressed.
- MARI likes to impress everyone with her piano playing skills, which is one of her main motivations for playing it.
- Very mischievous, loves to pull pranks. Will help KEL or AUBREY if they want to pull a prank on someone.
- Used to prank HERO and lot when they were younger just to see how he reacted as a learning experience. But ended up finding it funny and not learning from it at all.
- Likes to have girl talks with AUBREY, such as talking about boys. Encourages AUBREY to wait a little longer before getting into a relationship, saying that "You're too young."
- Paints her nails purple and paints AUBREY's nails pink. Will convince HERO to let her paint his nails too, though he won't act happy about it. She'll either paint his nails black or blue.
- Will also try to paint SUNNY, BASIL, and KEL's nails. SUNNY and BASIL don't really mind and will let her if she wants to, but KEL will put up a fight and argue that "It's for girls!"
- Leaves little sticky notes on HERO's side of his shared bedroom. Usually just words of encouragement or little poems she wrote about him.
- She also leaves snacks in HERO and KEL's room. But she hides them so that KEL doesn't find them.
- She's scared to mess up in front of anyone, but mostly HERO. She wants to impress him, not humiliate herself in front of him, HERO wouldn't really care though.
- When she does mess up she totally freaks, HERO always tries his best to comfort her, and he's usually able to.
- Tries to get SUNNY to eat more because he's not eating enough. Will try and sway him with rewards.
-  MARI loves to read SUNNY stories before bed, since he's usually sleeping in her bed anyway. She also likes to read BASIL stories.
- She also likes to remind BASIL everyday about how important he is to her and everyone else!
- MARI is a little upset at the fact that they had to build a treehouse in their backyard as she doesn't like bringing HERO over because she's heard her dad talk about how he doesn't like HERO to her mom.
- She's tried to explain to him that HERO's a good guy who helped her learn, but wouldn't really get through to him.
- She's a totally neat freak, just like HERO.
- Hopes that one day she'll be able to completely understand why people are the way they are without HERO's help.
- MARI gets frustrated easily, though she's learned how to hide her anger and just smile through it.
- She was OVERJOYED when SUNNY said he wanted to play violin to play with her! She was practically bouncing on her toes.
- BASIL and MARI point out plants together when the group is walking somewhere, MARI is always interested in what BASIL has to say about plants. She learns so much from him!
- Always gives SUNNY a hug when they separate from each other, even though he doesn't really like to touch people.
- He'll make an exception for MARI.
- MARI wanted to be the one who dyed AUBREY's hair! She also wanted to teach KEL how to put his hair up!
- She never got the time to do so before her death...

Pokémon in: Omori
How Aubrey got Nidoran ♀️
Aubrey Dubhghaill, 9 years old, was walking out of her house. She could here her parents
"If you loved me, you would spend less time with her and more time with me!" Her mom cried.
"Honey she's our daughter!"
Aubrey knew what this meant. She was on her own today. So she snuck out. Her parents Pokémon were strong, and both her parents had keystones and megastones for their Pokémon. Aubrey never wanted to be around for THAT battle.
Walking outside, she saw something run towards her. A Nidoran ♀️! It looked timid. A teen approaches.
"Hey kid! Gimme that Nidoran ♀️" He demanded. Aubrey looked at the Pokémon cowering.
"NO! IT DOESN'T LIKE YOU!" Aubrey yelled, holding the Pokémon close.
"Kid. It took me WEEKS to bread a Nidoran ♀️ with perfect IVs and the right nature and a good ability. And I had to breed Nidorina. Since Nidoqueen can't breed. So give it-"
The trainer was met with bubbles to the face. By the time he could see, Aubrey and his Nidoran ♀️ were gone.
"DANG IT!" He threw out 6 Pokéballs. Out came a Gengar, a shiny Greninja, a Scissor, a Stunfisk from Galar, and Dragapult. They all looked nervous.
"GO GET THAT STUPID NIDORAN ♀️ OR ELSE!" The trainer yelled. His scared Pokémon dispersed.
Aubrey ran, holding the Nidoran♀️in her arms. She made her way to the swings, where Sunny sat with his Ralts.
"SUNNY! HELP! THERES A MEAN TRAINER AND HE WAS BEING MEAN TO THIS LITTLE GUY SO I TOOK HIM AND NOW HE'S AFTER ME!" Aubrey yelled. Ralts could sense the fear in her and the two Pokémon with her.
Sunny quickly took them into the forest, to a safe little cave.
"Don't worry, Nidoran ♀️. I'll protect you!" Aubrey said. The Nidoran♀️ nuzzled her leg. Bun Bun came and Nidoran ♀️ flinched.
"No need to be scared! That's Bun Bun, my Azumarill. I named it that because it's final form, Azurrill, has ears like a Bunnelbey!" Aubrey said.
"Aubrey, I think it's hurt…" Sunny said. He went to pick up Nidoran ♀️ but it hid behind Aubrey.
"That's Sunny. You don't need to be scared." Aubrey said. She looked at the frightened Pokémon. It looked hurt, and like it hadn't eaten. Sunny took out a cookie from his pocket. Nidoran♀️ was suspicious, but quickly ate it.
"That trainer hurt you, didn't he? And… he hurt his other Pokémon too…" Aubrey said. Nidoran♀️ sadly nodded.
"Don't worry! I'll protect you!" Aubrey said. Sunny lightly smiled.
"So, I heard rumors that that trainer, apparently his name is Hans, is a pro battler. Didn't know he did…this…" Sunny said. Suddenly, a Gengar appeared behind the kids! Aubrey grabbed her Pokémon and Sunny and Ralts ran too. Water Shuriken almost hit them.
"SUNNY! GO BACK TO TOWN AND GET HELP!" Aubrey yelled.
"What-"
"JUST DO IT!"
Sunny ran back into town.
Aubrey ran and ran. The woods were dangerous, Kel and Hero almost died here two years ago. But she needed to keep running. Then she felt a sharp pain and was launched into a tree.
"Nice false swipe, Scissor" Hans said. His Scissor looked almost ashamed. Aubrey held Nidoran♀️ close and shielded it with her body.
"Stubborn little brat!" He yelled.
"You're evil! Pokémon are friends, not tools!" Aubrey yelled!
"You sound like that anime character, Ash Ketchup or whatever. But that's not how the real world works, little girl. Hand it over!"
"NO!"
Aubrey felt false swipe after false swipe. Never did more damage but it hurt so much. But she wasn't giving up! She was gonna protect her new friend!
"ENOUGH!" A voice yelled. Sunny appeared, with the source of the voice. Aubrey's dad.
"What are you doing to my daughter!?" He yelled, Medicham by his side.
"Dad! He's abusing his Pokémon!"
"She took one of my Pokémon!"
Aubrey's dad looked angry.
"The fact you're beating up a little girl makes me more inclined to believe her!"
"Yeah well, I ain't backing down till I get my 'mon. Beat it!"
"How about this? A Pokémon battle. You win, you get your Nidoran♀️. I win, and you leave!"
"You're on!"
As Aubrey's dad sent out his team, Medicham, Shedinja, Ditto, Snorlax, Ferrothorn, and Blissey, he brandished his keystone. He signed to Aubrey to leave with the Nidoran♀️. She quickly did as the battle raged on. She went to Basil's house. Basil was almost a brother to her, so she felt safe there. She showed Nidoran ♀️ around. It started to trust Bun Bun, Sunny, and Basil. Basil's grandma made food and Nidoran♀️ finally got to eat a real meal, for the first time in awhile. And it ate a lot!
"Aubrey…thats not your Pokémon…" Basil said.
"Well I'm NOT giving it back! That guy is cruel and I'm not gonna let him hurt Nidoran♀️ again!" Aubrey said. Basil agreed with her, but was still worried. Sunny was in awe of her determination. Kel came over. He wanted to play with the new Pokémon, but it was scared of him. After explaining the situation, he started to "get the house ready for battle" but Basil's grandma stopped him and Aubrey from making Home Alone style traps. So the kids made a fort instead. Eventually, Aubrey's dad came and took her home. He told the kids everything was alright.
That night, Aubrey's dad came home. He carried 6 Pokéballs.
"Hey Aubrey!" He said. He handed her a Pokéball.
"This is Nidoran♀️'s ball. It's yours now" He said.
"You stole it!?" She said.
"I stole all of them. I'm releasing them tonight. A guy like him doesn't deserve to be a trainer…"
Aubrey took the Pokéball.
"But that's illegal!"
"Consider me a vigilantee." He said. Aubrey hugged her dad. He went down stairs and outside to release the Pokémon.
Later Aubrey could hear fighting.
"ANGUS WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?"
"I'M NOT SORRY JESSICA"
But Aubrey didn't care. Her dad was the best. And she got a new friend. Who she would never let get hurt again!
So that night, Aubrey slept, snuggling with Bun Bun. And Nidoran ♀️
Author's note
Aubrey's dad is not Part of Team Plasma, yet! After all, N still has a few years to go before he can become king! Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this story!

Katherine
Age: 15
Description:
Daughter of Sunny and Aubrey. Lives in Faraway Town where she resides in her father's childhood home, often helping her mother and father with the household chores. Currently enrolled on the same high school her Aunt Mari went to.
Background:
Katherine was born on March 24 in the Town of Faraway and like any other kid she experienced a normal childhood growing up, enjoying many activities like drawing, playing, going to school, and spending time with her loving parent's.
At a family event with her parent's old childhood friendgroup she met Kel and Hero's younger sister, Sally, and the two quickly became friends after a few interactions. Katherine and Sally would soon formed a friendgroup 3 days after the start of their friendship.
During most of her childhood, Katherine had been told many stories about her Aunt Mari and how kind and joyful she was back when her parent's were children's. Sometimes she would get vivid dreams of her Aunt sitting on a picnic blanket waving and calling her to come to her picnic and have fun with her. Even though she didn't understand the meaning of the dreams, she felt happy spending time with her Aunt even if it was in the form of a dream.
At the age of 15, Katherine enrolled on the same high school her Aunt Mari went to where she's currently studyin in. She has moments where school becomes tough for her but try's her best to complete some of the difficult assignments and she has her parent's and friends to help her out when things get tough.
Katherine plans to go to college upon graduating from high school and study there for a job that fits with her skills.
Appearance:
Katherine inherited most of her mother's features with the exception of her hair which she inherited from her father. She somewhat resembles her Aunt Mari in terms of her long black hair and a few similar features, but the rest she's different.
At school, she wears a variant of a Japanese Saifuku, sporting long sleeves, a red skirt, and a yellow bow, along with a pair of flats or sneakers.
At Home, she wears a T-shirt or Sweater depending on the climate, with either a skirt or jeans, and a pair of flip-flops for a more comfortable style.
Outside she wears a variety of clothes, ranging from dresses to other casual outfits, sometimes wearing her Saifuku around the town in rare occasions.
Personality:
She likes to spend time with her friends and parent's, and always likes to help people whenever they need it. She's understanding of people's feelings, something she learned from her Mother to never interpret other people's reaction in the wrong way and to always listen to them before acting.
Very talkative and doesn't shy away from starting conversations to talk about interesting topics, really eager to learn new things.
She can be a perfectionist at times just like her Aunt, thinking that everything should be done correctly without any errors or mistakes. This had lead to moments of frustation and shame when things didn't go her way, but with her parent's guidance she learns to accept that it was okay to make mistakes and not being too harsh on herself if she didn't succeed on the first try.
Hobbies:
-Going out with her friends
-Art (inspired by her father's paintings)
-Sports (likes to play Tennis)
-Reading (Books, Comics, Novels, Manga's,ect)
-Watch TV
-Gardening (learned from her father's friend, Basil)
-Spending time with her family
(Note:
Search for "Female Names List" to look for a name since is hard to come up with one alone.
Wanted to choose in naming her Grace or Angela, heck even named her after Mari, but then decided to go with Katherine as her name instead.)
Hey you did very well with this!
I really like how parts of her still somewhat resemble Mari

Chapter 31: Brave New Steps Part II
(A COUPLE YEARS LATER….)
Mari was crying as she watched her little brother walk across the stage of the auditorium.
He was graduating…and she couldn’t find the right words to describe just how happy and proud she was of him.
And yet, the nostalgic part of her was crying her heart out because she felt like it was still too soon.
….
….
They’ve definitely come a long way since the accident six years ago….
It’s hard to believe that it was that long ago…or that it even happened.
Sunny was more confident and open about himself and his emotions. Mari was taking more notice of her surroundings and said surroundings much more seriously. And they were happier with themselves because of that.
Hero rubbed Mari’s back with a comforting smile, “It’s alright, Mari. It’s okay.” “No, it’s not! Our baby brothers are both growing up too fast!” The young woman exclaimed.
The young man sighed softly, “The sororal instinct in you is showing again.” Mari gave an annoyed expression, “Oh hush. We might have kids one day and you and I would be reacting the same way when they graduate.”
Speaking of parents, she was really glad that Aubrey agreed to move in with her and Hero, far away from her bitch of a biological mother….
As for getting Sunny to move in with her and Hero…it was a long argument with their mother about that.
It was difficult...for her to keep her frustration in check. But when her mother claimed that moving away from Faraway was for the best and that benefit of her children, Mari nearly lost it.
Considering that her mother wasn't giving her or Sunny much choices, it wasn't hard for the young woman to compare her mother to her father....
Mari expressed firmly that regardless of how well she meant and what job opportunities she had, her mother was still being dishonest with her children.
She also reminded her mother that, despite having woken up from a four-year coma, she was closer to being an adult than a child...and deserved to make her own choices.
She also argued that Sunny should be making his own choices too.
....
....
The young woman felt bad....
She never had seen her mother so...heartbroken before. But in the end, she gave in to her daughter and son's wishes.
Though to make sure that her children had support, she offered to pay for whatever rent Mari and Hero's apartment needed until the group had a stable source of income.
Mari agreed without hesitation, knowing that none of the group were ready for jobs yet....
....
....
When Sunny and Aubrey were both moved in and situated, they both expressed interest in helping Mari and Hero maintain this group home.
Mari ultimately agreed to the whole idea, despite being initially worried about how it might effect their stress. Hero also suggested that the teens wait until they graduate before job-searching, which also helped relieve some of Mari's worries.
….
….
After the graduation ceremony, the group met in the parking lot, where upon spotting her little brother, Mari swept him up in a tight hug. “I’m so proud of you, sunshine.” She grinned.
Sunny hummed, simply resting his head on his sister’s shoulder, before the young woman reminded him, “You can take a nice long nap when we get home, alright?”
Feeling Sunny nodding against her, Mari motioned Aubrey to join her, hugging her tightly as well. “I’m so so proud of you two.” She told the teenagers.
As Aubrey hugged back, she asked with a small smile, “Did you two cry?” “Of course I cried!” The young woman exclaimed, before pouting, “You’re not allowed to be 18 yet….”
“Not when I missed out on four years of you two grow up.” She added, feeling Sunny hug her tighter. Mari combed her brother’s hair with a sad expression. She knew that he was feeling guilty about what happened again….
He was likely going to feel like this occasionally for a long time after this.
The two of them would get through it, though….
“Hero started sobbing when Kel got on stage.” Mari said, changing topics. Kel, who was only a few feet away, gave a grin, “He is right now. Like a mother hen.”
“No, I’m not!” Hero exclaimed, tears running down his face as if it were a comic strip. Mari gave a small chuckle, before releasing Sunny and Aubrey, “Come on. First, we’re going home to relax and then we’ll have dinner with everyone.”
“Who’s coming?” Kel asked as the five went to the van. Hero smiled, “Mincy, for one. Basil and Polly too.” Mari scratched her hair as she said, “Aria, Angel, the Baker twins, Mihkael, Mom, Hero and Kel’s parents and Sally….”
“So everyone…in the literal sense.” Aubrey said, receiving a nervous chuckle from the young woman. “Uh, yeah….” Mari answered, rubbing the back of her neck.
As soon as the group got in the van, Sunny with Kel and Aubrey in the back, leaned against Kel's shoulder as he began dozing off. The teenage girl tapped Mari's shoulder, causing the young woman to turn and look at her brother and Kel, before smiling.
Taking a quick picture, she brought a finger to her lips with a soft hum, before sitting back in the front passenger's seat. She'll get Kel or Aubrey to help her bring Sunny indoors when they got home.
Right now, he deserves some shut-eye.
Omori: Recovery Route (A Coma-Mari AU by pyroanime2k16)
A/N: Sorry. No special cover this time. Also, this will primarily focus on Mari and Sunny's interactions, as that's what I write best.
-------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Case Of Awareness
Mari would've had to be a fool in order to NOT notice what her brother was going through.
Even now, as they were practicing for the recital one more time, the girl could tell how stressed Sunny seemed.
She could tell that he was growing tired and frustrated with the constant practice of the recital. Her perfectionism and their father's expectations certainly weren't helping and she knew it....
The older of the two siblings wanted to apologize in some way. A way that could actually be felt.
Mari was also worried about straining or ruining her sibling relationship with Sunny.
Eventually, the practice ended and Sunny quietly left the room. Mari felt a sickening feeling in her abdomen.
....
And then there was the sound of something shattering on the floor, cuing Mari to immediately stand up and rush to the foyer, spotting a broken violin at the bottom of the stairs.
The teenage girl paled. She screwed up. She was certain that she had fucked up now....
Especially when she turned to face Sunny, who was struggling to calm down. He was heaving, his arms shaking as he tried...and failed to take in deep breaths.
Mari went up the stairs. She had to fix this. She let this happen for too long. She had to do something to make up for it.
"Sunny...?" The teenager called out, cuing the boy to instinctively turn away. "Sunny, please look at me."
The boy didn't say anything for a few moments, before mumbling, “Please leave me alone….” His sister shook her head, “Brother, please talk to me…!”
“Mari, please stop….” The boy mumbled at a volume that was to quiet to hear. He was struggling to keep himself calm.
He wanted to run. He wanted to leave.
"Please just...talk to me, Sunny...!" The teenager pleaded. "Please let me try to help...!"
The boy shook his head, trying to block the words out. He needed to leave. To be alone to calm down.
Eventually, after a few more moments of back and forth, Sunny just...couldn't take it anymore and chose to push Mari away to give him some distance....
...Except both parties forgot that they were on top of the stairs. Upon being pushed, Mari's bad knee ultimately buckled painfully, causing her to fall towards the stairs....
Almost on pure instinct and in a state of shock, Sunny lurched forward and grabbed Mari's hand with his left, holding the railing with his right.
Almost immediately, the boy's weak grip began slipping, cuing him to tighten his hold as much as he could. The two siblings looked at each other, still in shock by what just happened.
The older of the two siblings, much to Sunny's surprise, just gave a weak and sad smile as the boy's grip ultimately failed.
The boy could only watch in horror as his sister collapsed on the stairs and tumbled to the floor.
The boy stood in fright and silence, before eventually working up the courage to walk down towards Mari. Of course, he understandably assumed that she was dead....
That he accidentally killed his own sister....
Then he heard the very faint sound of breathing. After kneeling down and putting his ear near his sister's face, he was able confirm it.
The breathing was obviously strained...as a result of severe pain and a near-fatal incident....
But Mari was miraculously alive. Unconscious, but alive....
Though, before he could react to that, Sunny realized that there was another person in the house...right in the front doorway as he glanced up.
"Basil...?" The boy whispered, noticing the equally shocked and frightened blonde.
Basil then asked in a shaky voice, "I-Is she...?" "She's...alive.... Needs help. NOW...." Sunny responded as attempted to control his breathing.
"Get Kel and Hero's mom or dad...." The boy pleaded, which resulted in the blonde rushing next door in a panic....
...Leaving Sunny alone to hold Mari in his arms and whisper apology after apology....

hello!! im so happy you write for omori, im hyperfixating on it right now
would you consider writing basil with a friend reader (who he has a crush on lmao) who enjoys ambushing him with hugs? like he'll be sitting there and then he'll have arms just pull him back out of nowhere into a hug and they're giggling because they got him. also since babil is so short, tiny, small, chances are reader's looking down over his head to see him when they do this, which is Very Cute
thank you so much! remember to do hand stretches often!

You had been friends with Basil almost as long as Aubrey had. Your parents and his were good friends in high school, but since his weren't around that often and yours lived in another city, you never really got to meet him.
It was only until you moved to Faraway. You weren't really affected since you were young, around 5 years old. But then again, you moved into a house across town so you didn't meet him until 2 years later.
His parents were back in town for a week so your parents decided to make you two meet each other and you instantly clicked. You two always wanted to hang out and play together. You two grew up together.
When he introduced you to his friend, Aubrey, you also clicked fairly fast, but not as fast as you did with Basil. You 3 became your own little trio, that's how it was until 3 years later when Aubrey met Sunny and that's how the whole group formed.
You were always physically affectionate, but when you were with Basil, it was a whole new kind of affection. You loved hugs from the people you cared about, so with the permission of Basil, your arms would always be around him.
You also liked to be affectionate with the others. Kel loved your hugs, Aubrey would always link arms with you, Hero and Mari loved to pat you on the head and well Sunny wasn't one for physical affection, he would occasionally let you get away with linking pinkies.
As you grew up, you began to draw closer and closer to Basil as he did with you. You found yourself getting butterflies in your stomach whenever Basil was near. You didn't know how to handle this, so you did what you normally did, but x10.
|| You walked back from Other-Mart with grocery bags in hand, heading back home after picking up some spices and oil for your father, along with some candy for yourself. You were about to walk across the street when you saw a familiar blonde sitting at the picnic table near the front of the park. You wanted to leave him be, if he was alone in the park, he must have wanted to be by himself, but you couldn't keep yourself from saying hi! You walked behind the trees, your footsteps weren't that loud. Basil's back was towards you, he was in his own world at the moment, clearly not paying attention to his surroundings. You looked at him for a while, trying to see if your gaze on his back would make him pop back into reality but it didn't. You thought he would look good with something on his back, that thing being you. You suddenly struck the poor boy out of nowhere "Surprise!" you said with a giant smile as your arms wrapped around his neck and you brought him into a hug. You felt him flinch and heard him scream quite loudly as he grasped your wrist, he looked up at you as he began to catch his breath. "(Y/n!) You scared the heck out of me!". You pulled away from him, you aren't sure if you hurt him but you hoped that you hadn't. You thought it would have been harmless, but considering Basil's reaction, it might not have. "Sorry! Sorry! Did I hurt you or anything? Made you uncomfortable?" you said as you took a seat across from him. "No! Don't worry please! It was a pleasant scare." ||
That was the moment where that would be a common occurrence. You were now sure he was okay with it.
On that day, Basil blushed more than he would have liked to admit. He's thankful that you didn't see it or else it would have been way too obvious about his crush.
He thought at first he just liked being surprisingly hugged, so he told Sunny about it, but Kel overheard and tried it, but didn't get the same results you would have.
That was one of the times that made him think: "Wow, I really like Y/n...". He was now convinced it wasn't a phase or just a one-off crush, he was actually interested in you.
He gets very nervous every time your near but tries to hide it. It doesn't work, you can still tell he is nervous, but you don't notice that you are the thing making him nervous because you have been friends for so long.
The biggest problem he has right now is you finding out he has a crush on you, he doesn't plan to confess, at least any time soon. He loves getting affection from you, but he's scared that's going to lead to you finding out.
|| It was a day that Hero and Mari were back from college for spring break and you all decided to hang out and go to a roller skating rink for Mari's late birthday. Everyone was just waiting on Y/n since they had to get something ready for Mari on short notice, so everyone was just waiting by their house. They haven't been waiting for long, but they could show up any minute. Basil and Sunny were talking, not super far away from the group, but far enough where they couldn't hear what they were saying. "I know I should, but I'm just so scared of rejection, it kind of hurts to think about... I know this sounds silly, but it just makes me shiver every time I think about it..." Basil said as he shook his head. Sunny put a hand on his back, trying to console his best friend, but then took it off and backed up from him. Basil looked at him with a confused expression. But then he felt warm arms around the top of his body with a loud "Surprise!" to go along with it. He felt his face start to heat up as he began to embarrassingly stutter and cover his face with his hands. "I got you good! Hehe!" Y/n giggled but didn't let him go. Basil looked up at the taller figure laughing and something made it seem like all of his anxiety had left him at that moment. He closed his eyes and smiled softly, "Yea. You did!" ||

Tysm for reading! I tried a new kind of style of writing with headcanons and one shot, so tell me what you think! I was trying to find a way to do this request justice and I thought this was the way to do it. I really like the result anyway. Also thank you so much for the love on the new profile picture! I really like how it turned out and I'm glad you all did too!

Ok some more Ghost Sunny stuff because I'm on a roll!
Because Mari never got her knee injury, she still plays Softball and Aubrey likes to play it with her too.
Whenever the gang has some sort of event everyone tries to be there, but Sunny always shows up, he's reliable like that.
Mari is still a bit of a perfectionist, but not to the same degree in Canon or your AU's due to her parents not putting all that pressure on her.
The reason she got into Piano in this AU is because when Sunny was alive, any sort of piano music would always calm him down. It still does, but it was one of the few things that would actually work back then.
Sunny technically can swim, he doesn't do it normally for obvious reasons, but he does sort of float half way in water.
Mari and their parents know Sunny is very ticklish, but Basil found out accidentally and ended up being more embarrassed than sunny.
Sunny is able to interact with the world around himself normally but he has to actively think about floating or going through walls to do it. This does lead to some confusion when people see Kel throwing a ball and it floating before being tossed back but people really don't care enough to mention it.
When the Gang met Aubrey it was actually Mewo who found her shoe. She did get lots of cuddles because she's a good kitty.
When Basil was introduced to the group Sunny's Mom was baking bagels, this is a coincidence I swear.
Hero got his nickname because his Mom bought a bunch of hero sandwiches when he was younger and it was the only thing he'd eat all week.
Whenever they have sleepovers Sunny always wakes up with someone cuddling him. even when he's not even near them when he falls asleep.
Because of his size, everyone can pick him up
While he doesn't have a favourite food this time around he loves apple juice and it's the easiest way to bribe him.
Every april fools the gang has a big prank off and Sunny + his parents act as the judges.
Despite being incorporeal Sunny and his clothes still get dirty, no-one knows how exactly this happens, but it does mean he doesn't lose out on the joys of a bubble bath.
Mr Plantegg was originally Sunny's, but he gave it to Aubrey after they met because she mentioned that her parents don't get her stuff like that.
When she turns 13, her dad leaves, and when she's 14 the Suzuki's finalise their adoption of Aubrey.
While they don't adopt Basil, they do become good friends with both his grandma and Polly, who does adopt him after his grandma's death.
Despite being a ghost, Sunny can't see other ghosts. I guess he's a special type of ghost~.
He also has a lower 'body' temperature due to being dead, but he is still warm. His family uses this as an excuse to rug him up in warm clothes constantly, it's just a coincidence that the outfits are absolutely adorable.
Sunny found out Mari and Hero had a crush on each other because Mari said she thinks hero was pretty cool during a family dinner in a dreamy voice before turning beet red.
He also later found out heroes side of it because he asked him one day what kind of flowers and chocolates Mari likes.
Can't think of any more because I'm hungry, but I can totally send you more cute stuff when I get up tomorrow!
Wholesome babies ;-; all of them
Although I think I wanna take a break from reading long paragraphs for a bit… Wi-Fi’s being stupid with my phone so I couldn’t listen to music while I slept so I only ended up getting like, 2 hours of sleep and because I was left alone with my negative thoughts all night long, my anxiety kept me up for the rest of the night so… sorry if I don’t seem to be in a good mood today…

Oh god that. That shattered AU broke me. Kel angst is my new horrible addiction and I swear I. I need to know... wtf happens with him and Hero. I can see so vividly Hero trying to keep the last semblance of his old brother back but it just fails every time, literally the only reason Hero is trying to continue on is because he doesn't want to leave Kel behind, that he made a promise and he was going to stick to it. So I must ask... does Kel kill himself as well? Or even accidentally? My heart h u r t s pardner..... sad yeehaw
Welllll we know the answer to the last part of that ask, but I do want to continue this series, so I’m gonna use the one ask that I have about it. Before anything I will say like I always do with Shattered AU that this is a dark AU. There is no happy endings, and pay attention to the TWs.
TW: Suicide, TW: Depression, TW: Major Character Death, TW: Rage, TW: Grief
Dear Hero,
No one else wrote a letter, but I couldn’t do that to you. I know that you spent so much time wondering if you could have done anything different for everyone else. I want you to know you couldn’t have done anything different for me
Hero had begged his parents to be allowed to stay. He had begged and pleaded to take the semester off. It was just one semester, he was still going to graduate early at this rate, why couldn’t he just stay? Hero knew Kel needed him. Kel might not be opening up, but being with Hero seemed to be comforting for his little brother at the very least. Hero knew that if he had more time, he could crack through Kel’s shell and try to start healing what was inside.
I remember when Mari died. You were so tired and upset. I didn’t get it then, but I do now. I know that when you get tired like this it’s hard to do anything. It’s hard to breathe, it’s hard to think, it’s just all so hard. I probably didn’t make it any easier by pretending everything was fine. I understand why you snapped at me.
Hero’s parents had practically thrown him onto the train. They reassured him over and over that they could take care of Kel. They would keep an eye on him, they would make sure he took his meds, and ate, and got to school on time. They said this all while rolling their eyes and giving him good natured sighs. They both acted like this was something they were used to, but Hero knew this was different. When this had happened to him, they had left him to find his own way back. He wouldn’t let that happen to Kel, mostly because Hero wasn’t sure Kel would find his way back.
Right before you left for school you told me you always felt guilty for not coming back that night. I want you to know that even if you had, I would still be doing this.
They had forced Hero back to school, but it didn’t matter. Hero couldn’t think about school at all. All he could think about was how to help Kel. He ignored his classes in favor of reading about recovering after loss, he didn’t bother to study anything except what might help him get through to his brother. There wasn’t anything more important than Kel right now, and if he was being completely honest, there was a part of Hero that was spitefully going to fail the semester just to prove to his parents how wrong they were. Above all, Hero called Kel every single night. Their phone calls last year had been frequent, but short. Usually just a quick fifteen minute chat updating each other on their days. Now their phone calls lasted hours and hours, and mostly consisted of Hero rambling on while Kel hummed and made one word answers. It wasn’t perfect, but it was important.
You were why I didn’t do this yet, even though it’s been on my mind for years. First Mari, then Basil, then Sunny. How could I ever do that to you, when I knew what it felt like to be in your shoes? You were trying so hard to help me, you’re still trying so hard. You call and you call and you always want to listen. I’m sorry I don’t want to talk.
For the first time, Kel didn’t pick up the phone. His parents said Kel was sleeping, and they could talk tomorrow. Hero’s stomach dropped, and his mind went fuzzy. He needed to be there, he needed to see Kel. If he couldn’t hear Kel’s voice, then he needed to see his little brother to know he was still alive. He must’ve said the last part out loud, because his mother was adamant that he stay at school. She was so sure that both of her sons needed to get back to their normal routines, that the way to get things to normal was to force them to be that way. Hero knew better. He knew Kel needed him. He hung up on his parents, pacing back and forth with shaking hands. He didn’t know what to do. It was too late for a train, and he didn’t have a car. Hero just didn’t know what to do.
I know you’re trying, and I hope you know I was trying too. I really was, I promise. It’s just...it’s too much. It’s all too much I’m just done. I’m done trying, and I’m done waiting for things to get better when I know they won’t. I don’t see the point anymore. I’m going to die regardless, so why should I go through fifty more years of feeling like this, only to get to the same end?
Hero grabbed his shoes, running out of the dorm room and across campus to his friend’s midnight study group. They had started doing this for their organic chemistry class in their first year and then kept it up because midnight was the only time that the library truly was quiet enough to get work done. He hadn’t joined them in weeks, and he wasn’t sure they would even consider him a friend anymore, but Hero needed their help. One look at his wild desperate eyes and his pleas, and Tristan was grabbing his keys and handing them to Hero. It was an eight hour car ride, nine and a half because he hit traffic. It was nine in the morning when Hero got home and found the letter on his bed. When they found Kel, the police told him and his parents that Kel had most likely died early that morning, around 7:30 or 8:00. Hero was sure if he had just been an hour faster in making his decision to come home, then Kel might still be here.
I know it’s going to hurt you, I know that I’m being selfish, but like I said. It’s just too much now. I don’t know if I believe in God or anything. I don’t know what kind of God makes everything that happened to us happen, but if there is a God out there, I hope he lets us all be together when this is all over. We can go for a picnic by the pond like we used to. That’s where I’m going now. That seems like a good place.
He waited until the police left to speak to his parents. He didn’t even mean to start fighting with them, but there was no way he couldn’t. He had started off just talking, trying to ask them why they hadn’t listened to him when he had known. They refused to hold themselves accountable. That’s why he had ended up in a screaming match with his mother. That had to be why rage was boiling in his veins and clouding his thoughts. Hero had begged them to let him stay. Hero had told them Kel needed him. They hadn’t listened, and now his brother was dead. His brother, the love of his life, his friends, all of them gone. Kel was all he had left, and they had taken him away.
I did love you. I did. I promise I did. This doesn’t mean I didn’t love you.
Hero took the letter and the keys to Tristan’s car. He didn’t need to stay, and he didn’t want to. He didn’t care that his mother was wailing about losing her boy, he didn’t care that his father was trying to get him to come sit and be with them. He just didn’t care. The only person he had left to care about was gone, because Hero hadn’t been there. He wasn’t going to go to another funeral, he wasn’t going to see them lower his little brother into the ground. He wasn’t going to continue the endless loop of torture that his life seemed to have on repeat.
I’m sorry, Hero. I hope you can forgive me. Maybe this is for the best. Now you don’t have to worry about me anymore.
Hero walked down his driveway to his borrowed car, ignoring his parent’s calling behind him. There, right where the pavement met the road, was Aubrey. Her hair was messy all around her, her eyes bloodshot. The police had told him she was there when they arrived. They had questioned her, but after reading Kel’s note, they were sure she hadn’t been involved. Hero could have told them that himself, but it seemed no one believed that he knew anything. Maybe they were right. She asked him if he was leaving. She asked if he was coming back. His silence was response enough. She walked away before he could say anything, and that was good. Hero didn’t have anything to say anymore.
Maybe I’ll see you again.
There was really only one road out of Faraway these days. The construction around town left all the exits blocked off. Hero had memoized the route to and from his college almost a year ago, just to be safe. He had to take the third right to get on the highway. Hero drove past the third right. If he missed the third right, he could take the next left and turn around. He ignored the left. Hero drove straight until he couldn’t drive straight anymore, and then on a whim he took the right turn. He wasn’t sure where he was going exactly, but it didn’t matter. None of it mattered anymore.

I was thinking on an Omari au and I took my own take on it. I swapped everyone’s roles, these are who I swapped with who:
mari and sunny, aubrey and kel, hero and basil. these are the backgrounds for them that I came up with:
omari/Mari: instead of Mari falling down the stairs, it was sunny(obviously) and this caused their parents to split up and she now lives with her father(sunny and Mar’s mom ended up leaving) mari ended up become a shut in and stopped going to school this caused her to be held back a year and unable to go to college yet. she has three days left until she leaves faraway and move into the city. She mostly spends time in white space with basil, Aubrey, and kel on the search for Hero, with Sunny as a helpful guide. However that doesn’t stop the truth and the guilt that will soon consume her thoughts and whether she’ll succumb or not.
sunny: sunny died on the day of the recital and has taken the form of something and haunts mari and hero. His cover up death is different than what sunny and basil did to cover up mari’s death so that a bit of a mystery.
hero: has a personal cook book where he writes different types of recipes. Some has his most favorite deserts, dishes, and cuisines. When sunny died, hero was the one to help mari cover up his true death. After his death, mari became a shut in, which left hero feeling unmotivated, depressed, and guilty. He soon become a shut in, his school grades dropped, and was held back a year as well. His parents have become increasingly concerned for him and try to motivate him again but with no progress.
Aubrey: after sunny’s death, Aubrey at first, was going down the wrong path since her dad left her and her mom’s life falling apart. she soon had a talk with the school counselor telling her that these choices she was making weren’t very healthy for her mental state. Aubrey thought of these words as she realized that she has been making poor choices for herself. she decided to join clubs with healthy environments for her to stay positive. she even convinced her mom to get the help she needs. things have been looking up for aubrey, but she still feels upset her whole group fell apart since sunny’s death, she has been trying to getting in contact with them but only basil is the only one she can reach, and has kept close tabs with him. kel on the other hand, he was another story.
Basil: Basil is barely at faraway town that much after sunny’s death. he attended a private school where he has to live there for the school year and come back during holidays of summer break. Basil feels like he’s a coward because he feels like he’s running away from his problems. Private school keeps him away from his grandma who sick and the mention of his best friend‘s death Sunny. Basil really liked sunny(yes the sunnflower ship don’t judge) and sunny seemed to share mutual feelings, but basil barely had the chance to tell him and sunny abruptly met his end. he has been keeping in close touch with Aubrey but hasn’t heard anything from mari, hero, and kel. He’d always wish they they would call him but nothing. Lately he‘s been calling aubrey saying he’ll be at faraway this week.
Kel: when sunny died kel didn’t know how to respond. It was a horrible accident and he wanted to stay strong for sunny even in death. kel began to feel frustrated that mari, basil, and Aubrey would just completely forget about kel, hero, and sunny. He felt worried for hero when he shut himself in. When he went to help, his parents told him to let them deal with hero and that this didn’t involve him. Kel began to get angry. He felt abandoned, useless, and unloved. He began to be hateful towards everyone that abandoned him, hero and especially sunny. He started being rude and hateful towards everyone, even to those who tried to help him and his parents. there were times where he barely comes home and his parents get worried sick. Especially since kel is starting to hang with the wrong crowd.
