Why not both? Grian usually has big, pure black pupils and irises. But as his eyes adjust to the dark, they shift to a sharp, disconcerting purple and yellow. And do they seem like they're glowing...?

i think naturally his eyes are big and dark and appear this way most of the time, but the purple are his Watcher eyes, and they show whenever hes using watcher enchantments or maybe heightened emotions ? i do like the switch tho
