Yoon Jisung - Perfect Fit

Note: So this was requested by an anon back when I had just opened up my requests again, sometime last year. It’s taken me a bit to write this, but I do hope that this individual is still around to read it ;___; A first date story for Jisung was interesting because I kind of wanted to write something a bit different for him this time around. I hope that you all enjoy it. Please, as always, feel free to let me know what you think!

Combed and styled hair, check. Comfortable clothes and a nice light cologne, check. No food in his teeth, check. A deep and heavy sigh left Jisung's lips as he tried to relax, letting himself slump in the driver side seat for a minute. Honestly, Jisung couldn't remember the last time he was this nervous. Hell, even going to job interviews didn't seem this nerve-wracking. But tonight, he couldn't help but feel nervous. This was his first date in over a year... and she was utterly out of his league. He had every right to feel apprehensive. After all, for the last couple of years, all he focused on was his job.

Jisung worked as a radio DJ. In the early years of his program, he struggled to make it stand out from the other radio shows. At one point, the station had threatened to cut his show if he couldn't think of something compelling to boost interest for it. Jisung spent the entire day trying to figure out something that could set him apart from the other shows, and he really feared he wouldn't find something. Much to his luck, a long-time listener was the one to save the show. She wrote in saying that, she knew it wasn't the purpose of the show, but she hoped that he could help her with something. She voiced her concern, and after much thought, Jisung gave her some advice on how to handle the situation.  He was kind, understanding, and gentle in his response to her worries. He thanked her for sharing her story with them, and he thought that was the end of it.

However, when he arrived at work the following day, he was told that a handful of listeners had sent in their own concerns, after hearing Jisung's show. They asked if he would be willing to give them advice, and like that, a new segment was born. So now, every day on his radio show, Jisung would listen or read concerns that people sent in. He would do his best to assist them in any way that he could. Jisung had always wanted to create a program that made a bit of a difference, and with this, he felt like he had succeeded.

In hindsight, it was only natural that this segment would come to life on his show. Jisung was naturally like this in his everyday life. He was the friend that everyone would run to when they needed someone to listen. He was the one that helped to form the action plan. He was the friend that helped through the hard times, so extending this to strangers was expected of him.  Honestly, Jisung felt fulfilled with the way his radio program developed. A calm and relaxing atmosphere where people could feel comfortable to share their stories.

Interestingly enough, Jisung's sensitive nature also helped when it came to romance. On more than one occasion, he found himself noticing how people acted towards each other. Secretly at first, he began to play matchmaker, suggesting that a friend should meet up with that acquaintance from a group dinner, and little things like that. It actually worked pretty well. Even though he didn't want to puff his own feathers, he felt like his success rate was quite high.

There was a small hitch in all of this. Even though he could matchmake for his friends, he was doing a terrible job at finding someone for himself. The dates he went on never went well. The person he met with would either be uninterested or tell him mid-date that he wasn't their type. It was painful, of course, which was why Jisung decided to take a break from dating. It felt like it wasn't the right time to find someone for himself. Instead, he grew content just helping others find their special someone.

Well, that was until he met you.

You tagged along with your friend, Miyeon, when she came to meet his close friend Dongho for their third consecutive date. The new couple promptly abandoned the both of you to go on their day, and Jisung couldn't help but wonder if it was purposeful. Had the two of them just blatantly set him up on a blind date? You also seemed to realize that something was up, but you hadn't mentioned it at the time. Being there with you wasn't bad at all. If anything, he couldn't help but be captured by your beauty. Looks weren't everything, of course, but you entranced him from the moment you sat down. Even your personality was one that he liked. The more that you talked with each other, just passing the time, the more he found himself falling for each one of your little habits. He couldn’t help himself.

"So Miyeon tells me that you're a radio DJ and that one of your segments is to listen to concerns that people send in?" you inquired, and Jisung nodded and smiled in response. "Do you think you could tell me why every guy I date keeps dumping me?"

Jisung felt his heart drop as soon as that question left your lips. He thought that things were going well, but it seemed like you had other intentions. He should have known. There was no way someone like you could be interested in him. Jisung gave a small smile and was about to answer when you started giggling. "I was only joking," you reassured him. “Well, not about the fact that guys keep dumping me, but I’m not here to get advice from you. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong idea...”

He really thought you were serious, and a heavyweight felt like it was lifted from his shoulders at your admission. Jisung couldn't help but chuckle. "Honestly, I don't know why anyone would dump you. You've been nothing but pleasant and a joy to be around since we met," he replied honestly. This was the start of your friendship... and Jisung's little crush.

The more he learned about you, the more he fell for you. It felt fitting with your kind personality that you were working so hard to get through veterinary school, wanting to work with and help animals. He had told you, at the time, that the only one that seemed to understand him was his dog, and you couldn’t help but giggle. You made a joke that it was possible that the two of you were just destined to be with your pets, and he wasn’t sure what had spurred it on,  but he asked you out. The two of you at that point had been meeting up for two weeks just to hang out, but nothing felt like it was a date. Jisung found the courage somewhere within him to ask, and you agreed. And that was where he was now. Sitting outside of your apartment, waiting for you to come down.

Jisung had the evening all planned out. You had told him about a carnival that came to town a week ago, and last he checked, it was still around. He thought the two of you could start your evening there. After that, if you were up for it, he wanted to take you to a restaurant he had heard a lot about from some friend. They said he was the perfect place for an excellent first impression on a date. Usually, Jisung would stick to the places he knew, but he felt like he could use all the help he could get tonight. Then he would take you home for the night and hope to god that you would call him back for another date.

Jisung was so lost in his thoughts, thinking of the more delicate points of the night, like what rides the two of you should go on, that he didn’t realize that someone was at his car door. It wasn’t until you gently knocked on the passenger side window that he almost jumped a foot in the air – only being foiled by the roof of his car – before realizing that it was your smiling face staring at him through the tinted glass. He sent you a smile right away before unlocking the door. Great, he even screwed up on properly greeting you when you finally arrived. This was leaving a sick feeling in his stomach. The date had barely started, and it wasn’t perfect. Ah, what was he going to do…

“I’m sorry, Jisung! I didn’t mean to scare you. I texted and told you that I was on my way down, but you didn’t reply, so I thought I would come and see if you were here already. Are you alright?” you asked after you got into the car. Your hand gently reached over for Jisung, lightly touching the top of his head to make sure a bump hadn’t formed. You felt sorry for scaring him like that.

“I’m fine, but I don’t think that my ego is…” he informed you with a soft chuckle, the feeling of your hand on the top of his head was strangely comforting. You giggled a bit at his response, and when he reassured you again that he was alright, you situated yourself, pulling your seatbelt on.

Jisung looked at you out of the corner of his eye, and he couldn’t help but take in how lovely you looked. You were dressed simply. Just a button-up tucked into a pair of jean shorts, but it suited you well. “You look really nice tonight,” he told you honestly.

You felt your cheeks grow warm at his words. "Ah, it's really nothing. You told me to dress in something comfortable since we would be going to the carnival, so I thought this would be a good choice?" you stated, though it came out as more of a question. You watched as Jisung nodded, another compliment rolling from his lips, making you smile.

You had grown fond of Jisung over the last month. That time that the two of you met, you thought would be the last time you saw him. You had made that joke about needing advice on why guys kept dumping you, and you should have known better. Jisung did that every day for a living. A stunt like that when he didn't know you personally, could have sounded like an actual request. So you thought he would want nothing to do with you, that you had offended him. But to your luck, he did contact you, and you were pretty happy he had. You were shy by nature, so asking someone to hang out was just… not in your list of things that you could do. But with Jisung it was easy, and when he asked you out on an official date, you were over the moon. Now all the two of you had to do was make sure that you were compatible with each other.

The pair of you had a nice chat while Jisung drove you to the carnival. After he parked, Jisung walked around to help you out, like a gentleman, holding his hand out to you so that the pair of you could go hand in hand to buy your tickets. You had offered to pay, but Jisung was too fast and already had his card at the ready. “You don’t get to pay for everything tonight, okay? It’s going to be even,” you warned him, and he only chuckled in response.

Once the two of you received your tickets, you suggested that you go get some food first. Typically, you would eat after work, but today, since you wanted to look presentable to a certain someone, you decided to forgo food to get ready. Jisung apologized for not taking you to eat first, but you were quick to push away his worries, pulling him over to a food booth that you found tasty and ordering, paying before the male could even think of pulling out his card.

With your snacks in hand, the pair of you walked around, looking at some of the games and your eyes lit up when you saw a giant polar bear plush hanging from one of the booths. However, you didn't linger long and pulled Jisung forward, knowing that games like that had a meager rate of success. It was how they made their money. Still, your look did not go unnoticed by Jisung, and instead of moving on, he led you over to the booth.

“So, whatcha gonna try for?” the man running the booth asked.

"I think I'll try for the polar bear," he said confidently, as the man running the booth raised a brow at him. Still, he wasn't going to turn Jisung away and proceeded to explain the rules of the game. All Jisung had to do was knock over three sets of stacked milk bottles to win the polar bear. It sounded easy enough, but the biggest problem was that he was awful at these types of games. Yet he was still going to give it a try. So, winding up, he threw the first ball... and much to no one's surprise, he missed.

"Aw, son, you aren't going to embarrass yourself in front of such a lovely lady, are you? Here, I'll give you that one for free. You get three more tries," the man advised, and with each of the throws, Jisung wasn't able to knock over any of the stacks. He came close with one of them, but it still didn't fall over.

"You really don't have to try for it, Jisung," you urged, but Jisung was already giving him more money for more balls to throw. Three times in and still nothing and you knew you had to stop him. “It’s really okay,” you said.

Even if you told him that it was okay, Jisung felt terrible that he couldn't do something so simple for you. Even while you were pulling him away from the booth, the man chuckled, and that only got him more riled up. "But he's taunting me..." Jisung said with a pout.

"And he was taking your money was hile was doing so. It's best that we go try something else. That polar bear wasn't even that cute," you told him, already moving towards the rides to try and wash away how bad that experience was.

The two of you never got to go on any of the rides, however. Just before you had gotten in line for one of them, Jisung felt something wet his cheek. At first, it was once, then two, then they came more frequently. And before it even fully registered to either of you what was going on, a downpour happened. Wait a minute, there was no forecasted rain today. He checked five times before he sent you the plans for today. Why was this happening?!

The people around you started to scatter, and Jisung knew that you both needed to as well. He gestured for you to follow him toward the car, but stopped in his tracks when his eyes landed on you. He realized that, in the process of telling you to dress comfortably, it also meant that you wore pieces that were a bit thin, your shirt already soaked all the way through. So, he quickly pulled off his jacket, draping it over your shoulders before he led you back to the car.

Jisung gently, but swiftly guided you out to the parking lot, back to where his car was located. He was quick to unlock the doors so that the pair of you could escape the torrential downpour. Yet just as he was about to climb in, he noticed that you were still nervously standing outside. “You’re gonna get soaked if you don’t get in the car,” Jisung finally said, a bit confused by your hesitation.

Your heart had been warmed by his earlier gesture, giving you his jacket when he would end up completely soaked as well. But now, you were having a hard time just jumping into his car. "But Jisung... your nice car seats..." you murmured softly, knowing that the gorgeous detailing would be completely ruined if your drenched forms got inside. You saw the realization cross his features, but it was soon replaced with a soft smile.

"Don't worry about it. I can get the car fixed if I need to. But I won't be able to live with myself if you get sick because of a freak rainstorm that happened in the middle of our date. So please, get in the car so that you can warm up," he urged, before the two of you quickly entered. He thought it was cute that even in a situation like this you were thinking of something like that. You were really too kind.

Once the two of you were in the car, the heater warming up your chilled bodies, Jisung couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh. He thought his plans for the night had been impeccable, but they were proving to be anything but. From his handful of failed attempts at the carnival game to his inability to read a weather forecast. He would honestly understand if you never wanted to see him again. He messed up a perfectly fine evening. Feeling dejected, he finally spoke up. "You know what, I'll just take you home..." he said, his eyes staring out at the rain. He couldn't bring himself to look at you. He felt too ashamed.

As soon as those words left Jisung's lips, you whipped your head up to look at him, confusion evident in your features. Your night was over, just like that? But the two of you hadn't gotten a chance to really connect yet. You were enjoying his company, and now he just wanted to drop you at home. You knew that he felt terrible about how badly this date was going, but you didn't blame him for any of it. He couldn't control any of it.

Though it usually wasn't like you to speak up, you knew that you had to this time. “Jisung, I’m kind of hungry, maybe we could go get something to eat?” you suggested.

Jisung gave you a look. Were you pitying him? Was that why you suggested that the two of you should eat together?" "Your clothes are soaked all the way through, and you want to go eat?" he asked, watching as you gently bit your lip, seemingly forgetting that little fact. “It’s okay if this date ends you know. I won’t be angry with you.”

It seemed like Jisung had taken your gesture in the wrong way. You would have to be more forward with your words. "But I don't want the date to end," you said, barely above a whisper. You could feel Jisung's eyes on you, your hands gently clutching at the jacket that he had wrapped over your shoulders to warm yourself up a bit. “I like spending time with you Jisung. I don’t care that it rained. I don’t care if the date isn’t perfect. I just want to spend time with you,” you admitted. The words were simple, maybe a bit childish, but you couldn't think of another way to put your feelings out there. Getting to know Jisung was honestly really too good to be true. In that short amount of time, you learned to care about him.

Silence fell between the two of you, and you momentarily thought that you had said something wrong. You were about to speak up again when you heard Jisung chuckle. "If you want to go eat, who am I to say no?" he replied, a smile spreading on your features. "But why don't we wait a bit before we go? Let's get ourselves warmed up first, and then I'll drive you to one of my favorite restaurants. I was actually going to take you to this other place. People seemed to like it, but given the way all of my pre-planned things have been going, I figured we should try something familiar, just in case, hm?”

You nodded enthusiastically in response to his words. The two of you shared a look and soon started to chat again. Honestly, you couldn't think of a better way to be spending your evening. Sure, things didn't go smoothly, but maybe that didn't matter when you realized that you did indeed match quite well with the person sitting across from you...

DON’T MAKE A FOOL OUT OF YOURSELF • yeah, you decide to listen to your head, pulling your lips into a tight smile as you try to refocus your attention on your worksheet • Minki wants to stab you in the heart with a stray pair of vernier calipers he found • probably from a physics class kid who walked into the wrong lab and dropped it • you don’t die and make it back safely • at home, you keep the letter, tucking it away from prying and curious family • hope rises as you fall into bed and pull the covers over your head • but no letters are present in your locker the next day • and the next • and the next • ....and the next • until, one day, you don’t expect anything anymore • studies have taken over most of your thoughts • you’re just about ready to go prom outfit shopping with your friends when you remembered you had left your notes in your locker • an identical envelope tumbled out of your locker • it landed on the floor with a loud thud • or was the sound from your heart? • again, I shall reveal a small portion if this confession • ‘getting ready for the big day already? well I hope you’ll only be dancing with me.’ • ‘never worry about my identity, you’re inching closer to me everyday.’ • more clues • well, recently, you had made friends with a transfer student, Jeon Heejin, hung out after school with Minki and Aron and gotten Kang Daniel’s number • on Thursday afternoon, Dongho and Kyulkyung had invited you to go bowling and that was how you spent your afternoon • hm • at least you managed to form a group of suspects • it had to be one of them • there was only time left to wait and see • 1 week and 4 days before prom,,, • I’m sorry I’m skipping over a lot of plot development and elaboration :((( • this time was different, the sealed envelope was waiting for you on your desk • and it just happened that you running late that day, stuffing your breakfast sandwich into your mouth as you dashed to your table, shoelaces untied and uniform unkempt • you paid the latest love letter no mind, tossing it into the bottom of your school bag, it lay there, forgotten • until,,, • ‘hi, do you have the textbook? Can I borrow it?’ Dongho whispered as he bumped into you in the corridor, probably on the way to his next class empty-handed • rolling your eyes in a playful manner, you unzipped your bag with the intention of taking your textbook out • uh...looks like you need to be a tad bit more organised in that department • schools supplies were jumbled up in your bag, a couple of items fell out of the open flap • including the letter from the secret admirer • puzzled, Dongho picked it up along with the rest of your things • ‘ooh, a secret lover?’ he teased, eyes speckled with curiosity • immediately, you yanked the envelope out of his grip with a blush seeping onto your face • ‘n-nothing! you’ll be late for class!’ you called, shooing him off before he could say anymore • thankfully, your friend was kind and understanding enough to let the matter drop • you managed to make it through the day without much problems. school was rather eventful, you got a chance to bond with Daniel and Minhyun over lunch because Minki was sick • ripping open yet another packet of jellies, Daniel whined, brows furrowed, ‘hyung, are you sure you can’t make it next week?’ • next week? • Minhyun sadly shook his head, biting his bottom lip in an upset manner. ‘I’m sorry Daniel. I have some committee things to settle at the time of your game.’ • game? • oh, pre-prom activities • Daniel sighed in disappointment, he chewed on a candy to calm his feelings • ‘wait, you can invite your new friend. It’ll be a first and it’ll be more fun!’ Minhyun suggested, gesturing to you in an attempt to cheer Daniel up • Daniel went from staring into space to excitedly chatting about it • words you caught: prom, basketball game, hyung always goes to cheer me on, the rest of my friends are coming but it isn’t the same • ‘woah, woah!’ you uttered, putting your hands up in a gesture for him to slow down. • ‘so are you in?’ • YES. Walking with eyes fixed on feet, you were on your way to your first day of the second semester at university. You were neatly dressed, wearing a relaxed boyfriend shirt, a leather jacket and some skinny jeans with white sneakers. You hum to a random tune as you walk your way into the campus with your sling bag on your shoulder, minding your own business. On your way, someone accidentally bumped into you and dropped a couple of his books in the process

“Oh, I’m sorry.” you apologized as you slowly tried to pick up his books, but he already managed to pick them all up by himself because of his fast reflexes

“It’s fine.” he smiled as he hurriedly walked away, disappearing into a crowd of students around the halls of the building. You just shrugged and went back to where you were headed, still humming

“Okay, class. Today is the first day for this semester, and welcome to Historical Geography, section B.” your professor smiled as he greeted the class in the auditorium

“Good morning, Professor.” everyone greeted him as they took their seats. As the professor proceeded on showing his presentation for the class introduction, a young man hurriedly arrives and sits just a row behind you, and you glanced over to his side to see it was the same guy who you bumped into earlier. Once he finally sat down, you turned to face to the direction of the professor, who was clearly into the topic he was explaining. You yawned a couple of times during class, and glanced over to your watch too often, obviously bored and uninterested.

You took a glance to the row behind you to check if the guy you bumped into was still there, and he just stared at the stage to where the professor was, and blinked a couple of times before he could look around until he saw you. Once he did, you immediately darted your eyes to the professor, making it a little too obvious that you were staring. You mentally slapped yourself for being so obvious about your gestures that you just sighed and tried your best to listen to the professor.

Once the class was over after two long and boring hours, you rushed out of the auditorium and didn’t even care to look at where the guy you embarrassed yourself to was. While running, the guy saw you and noticed you dropped a small envelope, and he grabbed it immediately to hide it and give it back to you in case he runs into you again.

You ran all the way to the nearby burger joint, where there was an alley behind it where you, your friends, and your boyfriend, Jonghyun, often met. You went inside the restaurant to see your friends sit at a table near the counter, and one of your friends, Yujin, waved and gestured for you to come over.

“Hey guys.” you smiled as you took a seat next to Yujin, facing the window

“Hey, y/n. So, plans for tomorrow night?” another one of your friends, Sooyoung, asked

“Same old, same old.” you chuckled as you rested your elbows on the table

“Has he arrived yet?” you asked as you didn’t hesitate on sipping on Yujin’s milkshake

“There he is.” Yujin pointed to the window by the door, seeing Jonghyun walk pass the restaurant and off to the alley behind it

“Be right back.” you winked as you stood up to go out and meet Jonghyun at the back of the restaurant building

Slowly walking to your way, you saw Jonghyun by the dumpster taking a smoke. You saw his friends Dongho and Sanggyun next to him, just looking around and making sure no one else saw all of you. You slowly walked your way to them, and grabbed an envelope from your leather jacket once you were in front of Jonghyun.

“Got the money?” he raised a brow as he leaned his back on the wall, arms crossed

You just smirked and grabbed the envelope and gave it to Jonghyun, opening it once it was in his hands. You were looking at Dongho and Sanggyun, both looking at the envelope and waiting for Jonghyun’s response.

Jonghyun just sighed, then looked at you

“See? I told you I could give it on time.” you smirked

Jonghyun just chuckled and sighed again, but his faced became serious after a while and didn’t hesitate to slap you hard across your face. You were shocked by this sudden gesture, and just looked at Jonghyun with your hand on your cheek

“What was that for?! That’s all the money I got since the past week!” you yelled as you took a step back

“You fucking idiot. This is a letter from your landlord telling you to leave your place immediately in a month for not paying your rent for three months.” he sighed as he threw back the envelope with the letter to you

“What?” you hurriedly opened the envelope again to see it really was the letter, making your eyes widen in shock

“Fuck.” you muttered as you took a deep breath and looked at Jonghyun

“I’m giving you another three days. If I don’t get the money by then, you know what happens next.” he smirked, walking away after with Dongho and Sanggyun following behind him

“Tss.” Sanggyun poked fun at you as he passed by in front of you walking away

You became really angry because you already did everything Jonghyun asked you to do for the past month since you both were dating. You didn’t even feel like you were really in a relationship, but more of a business relationship. You marched your way back to Jonghyun and harshly grabbed his shoulder to make him turn to you, him looking annoyed.

“Do you ever think about why you’re going this to me you asshole?” you spoke fast, sounding really angry

Jonghyun just smirked and shook his head until his left hand harshly grabbed your neck, making you whimper in fear while looking at him become even angrier

“Don’t ever lay a hand on me without my consent, again. Understand?” he said as he ruthlessly dug two of his nails on your neck, making you whimper from the pain. You just nodded fast before he could pull his hand away; scraping a bit of your neck from his nails and making sure his nails left a mark. He again chuckled as he continued to walk away with Dongho and Sanggyun, you coughing from his sudden motion to even lay a hand on you. You continued to stand there until Jonghyun and the others were already nowhere to be found, and you went back inside to see your friends still at the table. You then went inside to see Yujin a little worried, and you just sighed and sat next to her again.

“How did it go?” Hyerin, one of your friends, asked

“Not good. I might have to work harder tonight.” you sighed as you gestured the waiter to get you a milkshake

You looked in front of your full body mirror, examining the mark Jonghyun left with his nails. It was still painful, and it looked quite bad. You sighed as you tried to find a small band aid to hide the scar, but you ran out. You then looked in front of the mirror again, and you noticed a small bruise on your cheek from Jonghyun’s slap, but it was not that noticeable. You tried to cover it a bit with concealer, but you still noticed the damned bruise. You just rolled your eyes and decided to let your long hair down today, making sure it covered your bruises. Besides, you only had one class that day and you didn’t want to look at anyone either.

You walked fast on your way to the main building at the campus again, and the guy you bumped into the day before saw you, his face lightening up as he grabbed the envelope from his bag and tried to walk his way to you. But he saw you were a bit tense and just looked down while walking fast, so his smile died down a bit and just put the envelope back in his bag in hopes he could give it to you by lunch time.

Your class was over by 12 noon, and you just hurriedly walked out of the classroom to get home since you barely slept the night before. The guy you bumped into also came out from his class just a room next to you, and he tried to look for you but he couldn’t. So he just sighed as he went on to get his lunch and off to his next class.

“Wow that bruise looks fucking horrible.” Hyerin gasped as you showed the scar Jonghyun gave you on your neck to the girls

“It’s not that big of a deal. We get bruises often too, you know.” Sooyoung scoffed as she blew out a smoke from her cigarette while leaning on her car

“Why are you being a bitch to me tonight? I hope you choke on your cig.” you retorted towards Sooyoung

“Guess that makes two of us bitches then?” she replied, sounding annoyed as she threw her cigarette butt in front of her and stepping on it to put out the fire

“I GOT THE MONEY! GET IN THE CAR!” Yujin yelled as she ran out of the bar with a wallet full of cash, probably from one of her clients she manipulated

All of you got into the car, with Sooyoung starting the engine in a swift and drove fast before the police and the owner of the wallet could come

“Drive to a bank nearby, we need to cash out the money on his cards quick.” Yujin told Sooyoung, and she just complied and drove off to a bank next to a gas station

“Y/n, stay here.” Hyerin told you as she got out of the car with Yujin and Sooyoung to use all the three ATM machines to withdraw all of the cash inside the cards Yujin stole

“Don’t forget to cover the CCTVs.” you said as they got out, and Yujin nodded as they ran off

Your phone suddenly vibrated, and you saw a text from your mom

“I’m at the city at the moment; my flight got moved a few times so I have a day for layover. I’m on my way to your apartment. See you in 30.”

You shrieked as you read the message and you yelled at the other girls

“HEY! HURRY UP! MY MOM IS COMING TO TOWN!”

“Fucking leave, then! We’ll do these ourselves!” Sooyoung yelled back

���Fine!” you screamed as you got out of the car and hurriedly looked for a cab nearby, but the road you were all in was pretty empty. So you ran your way to the other block to find proper transportation to get home before your mother could even get there first.

You arrived pretty quickly in your apartment, and you checked your phone to see if your mom called. You gave a sigh of relief as you just got there in 15 minutes, and hurriedly changed out of your clothes for a more appropriate home outfit. A few minutes later, you heard a knock at your door and opened in immediately.

“Mom!” you smiled as you hugged your mother

“Y/n! My baby. What were you doing?” she asked as she got inside your place and put her bags to the side

“Just watching TV and a bit of studying. Are you going back to Dubai?” you smiled as you sat on your sofa

“Yes, my dear. And I wanted to pass by before I leave.” she smiled back as she sat next to you with her hand on your lap

“I wanted to see you too.” you rested your head on her shoulder, and your mom played with your hair a bit to make you more relaxed

“How’s dad and the others?” you asked

“Dad’s very busy now, and his health isn’t in a pretty good shape. The others are still working hard on their studies so they could move here with you in the future.” she said as she started rocking you both a bit

“I’m so happy to have children who do well in their studies and follow the good deeds me and my husband made.” she said, chuckling

“I’m going to the bathroom, okay? It’s pretty late now so you need to sleep too. I need to catch up on my flight at noon.” she smiled as she stood up to get to the bathroom

“Oh and by the way, mom,” you called, and she looked at you

“You can take the bed. I’ll take the couch for tonight.” you smiled, and she nodded before getting into the bathroom

You sighed deeply as you realized that you were being dishonest about your current situation. Your mother thinks you’re doing well in university, you hang out with good friends, and you practice proper conduct and more. But you were actually quite the opposite right now; you were with a group who stole money from old men who would want to have a fresh and young girl to take home at night, even though you didn’t sleep with any of them. You were in an abusive relationship with a man who probably already started his own gang. You weren’t doing a lot well at university either; you even skipped class pretty often in the first semester. You just lied down on your couch as you looked at the ceiling, distraught while thinking about why you started acting like this out of the sudden.

You finished your class at the auditorium, and you were about to head out when a young man stood by you and tapped your shoulder

“Hi.” he said with a bright smile

“Hello.” you smiled back, remembering his face after you turned to look at him

“My name’s Youngmin, by the way.” he grinned, and damn he had perfect looking teeth

“Y/n. And I’m really sorry again for bumping into you last time.” you scratched your head as you apologized

“It’s nothing, really. Stuff like that happens all the time. Sometimes, the people who bump into each other even become friends.” he said cheekily, and you just chuckled in response

“Wanna go get lunch?” he asked, and you looked at your phone to check if anyone texted you

“Sure.” you smiled back as you both walked out of the auditorium together side by side

Family Reunion (A NU’EST OT5 Fanfiction + a dash of Wanna One)

 a/n: Oh god I promised myself not to write any Fanfiction until my exams were over, but I can’t help it with all these OT5 pictures emerging from BOF. FYI, they are both performing today (along with my beloved ahjussi’s Sechskies, who are the closing act for the night, can’t wait to see a yellow ocean). Anyway, hope y’all enjoy!

“This week’s first place winner is ...... NU’EST W! Congratulations!” 

Those words remain a vivid memory in Minhyun’s mind. That day, he remembers, he was sitting in the living room of the Wanna One dorm anxiously staring at the TV. The whole Wanna One had gathered there, in part to watch the girl groups performing on MCountdown, and JBJ and Rainz, but most importantly to watch NU’EST W. When those words were uttered from the host’s lips, there was a moment of stunned silence, but that was soon broken by ugly sobs from Jisung. Minhyun was in shock as Jisung engulfed him in a hug, and the rest of Wanna One began cheering and hugging each other as if their favorite team had won the World Cup. Everyone began patting Minhyun’s back or ruffling his hair, unconsciously tears began to flow down his cheeks, and he buried his face in Jisung’s shoulder. They won, they won, they really won.

When NU’EST W bagged their second win at Music Bank the next day, a new set of waterworks was unleashed by Jisung, but this time Minhyun merely looked at the screen with immense pride. His brothers did it. 

And today was the day he was going to meet them again. 

Minhyun knew that NU’EST W was performing at BOF, but he only just found out that they were performing on the same day. He was simultaneously excited yet nervous. This whole experience has been so surreal. NU’EST W’s popularity, their success -- but he wasn’t with them. Something felt awkward. 

But he didn’t have time for that -- or more like time wouldn’t let him brood for long. The intense schedules, commercial filming, photo shoots and comeback preparations have pushed Minhyun too his limit. He was always in one of two states: awake or asleep. So when the Wanna One rehearsal was over he immediately slumped into the sofa of the waiting room to catch some sleep. “Maybe I’ll visit the boys later...” he thought as he eyelids began to close. 

But nope, time wasn’t going to let go of our little fox now.

“Ja ja ja, guys wake up, this is the set list for today, make sure you familiarise yourselves with it,” Wanna One’s manager commanded as he handed out the set list to every member.

With a slight groan, Minhyun forced his body upright and he took the paper from his manager. He gave it a quick scan, but his eyes shot open when he saw it.

“Hyung! We are performing after NU’EST W?!” he exclaimed as he stared on wide-eyed as his manager. 

“Oh, i guess so,” his manager replied cheekily as he shot Minhyun a wink.

What did this all mean? Did the organizers intentionally create the set list like this? Or was it just a coincidence? Did the manager or management pull some strings? Or did everything just... work out? 

Minhyun wanted answers, but once again fatigue overwhelmed his consciousness and he began slipping into slumber again. 

But nope, Wanna One was not letting that happen. 

“Hyung wake up we need to go! Now isn’t the time to be sleeping!” Daehwi shook the poor little fox awake.

“Where do we need to go?” Minhyun groaned as he shoved Daehwi’s arms off.

“Honestly, we thought you would be more excited than that. I mean if you don’t wanna come it’s fine, we can go visit them ourselves,” Seongwoo teased.

“If you guys are gonna look for Blackpink go ahead without me, I’d rather get some sleep,” Minhyun replied while burying his face into the couch.

“Well we aren’t really looking for Blackpink, but certainly someone that can set his fan’s hearts on fire,” Sungwoon joined in the teasing.

“Do whatever you all want, I want to sleep,” Minhyun complained as he got ready to enter dreamland.

“Suit yourself,” Daniel shrugged. “Hey don’t forget the cake!”

“Do you think Dongho-hyung will like this? I mean there is so much cream,” Guanlin’s voice trailed off as he headed to the door.

Dongho. That was the word that got Minhyun’s attention. Immediately he shot up and he interrogated his members, “Who are you all visiting?”

“NU’EST W, NU’EST W, oh my goodness these boys really love to beat around the bush,” Mama Jisung replied as he got Minhyun up from the couch. “Do you want to come along?”

There were no words needed, Minhyun tidied up his hair, and led the way in search of NU’EST W’s waiting room. 

It was unexpectedly easy to find, literally just a turn from the Wanna One waiting room. But when they arrived Minhyun froze. He hadn’t thought this through -- what was he going to do when he meets them? 

“Oh my goodness, hyung stop stalling,” Jihoon complained as he turned the handle for Minhyun and Wanna One barged into the waiting room.

Oblivious to the stares the boys began singing the “Congratulations” song and even danced around with the cake. All the while Minhyun lingered at the back, as shocked as the NU’EST W members who were in the midst of changing out of their sweaty rehearsal clothes. 

“NU’EST W sunbeanim~ Congratulations on winning first place, we are huge fans~~~” Seongwoo congratulated flirtatiously as he handed the cake over to JR who was holding onto a mini Wartortle fan.

“Th... thanks...” JR replied evidently shocked by the rambunctious bunch as he took the cake and handed it over to Aron who was sitting on their couch.

“Looking good Dongho-hyung,” Guanlin teased as a half-naked Baekho scrambled to get a shirt on.

Wanna One couldn’t sit still for long, and the boys began happily chatting with the NU’EST boys. But all the while, Minhyun was still awkwardly standing by the door. Everything felt so surreal.

“... yea Minhyun-hyung cried like a baby when you guys won,” Guanlin tattled to Baekho, which prompted the latter to peer over at the shell-shocked Minhyun. 

Noticing his discomfort Baekho quickly chased off Guanlin (who went to talk to JR), and approached the terrified fox.

“Hey bro, you okay?” Baekho punched Minhyun’s arm playfully.

“Yea... yea...” Minhyun replied while avoiding eye contact.

“Guanlin said you cried like a baby when we won on MCountdown.”

“Well... i did but maybe not to that extent. By the way, congratulations, you see i told you the song was good.”

“Hahaha thanks, Bumzu-hyung helped me a lot... is that all you have to say?”

“I mean what more do you want me to *chokes*,” Minhyun cut off half way by the tears that began escaping. 

“I knew I could crack you,” Baekho chuckled as he embraced the whimpering Minhyun. 

“Guys come over, he needs some love,” Baekho called out to the rest of NU’EST W. Without a word the remaining three members broke away from their conversations and latched onto Baekmin, forming a giant group hug. The boys laughed at the sobbing Minhyun and began teasing him for always crying when they meet. Minhyun tried to retort, only to launch into a fresh set of tears.

“Aigoo our baby fox is crying, stop crying Minhyunnie~” Aron comforted.

“If you keep crying your eyes will be swollen on stage,” Ren chided playfully.

“C’mon man stop crying,” JR coaxed.

“We’ll win many more once you come back,” Baekho winked as he tightened his hug.

“I’m just... I’m just so proud of you all. I’m so happy, I am so so happy. Our LOVEs have worked so hard, and I feel so bad for not being able to be there. But they are such amazing fans, and the album is beautiful, and y’all look so good. It’s been 5 years, and you guys are my family. I love you all so much. I’m so happy you all won. I’m so so happy,” Minhyun was incoherent between his sobs but NU’EST W knew what he was trying to say.

The 4 simultaneously tightened their hug and leader JR remarked, “We will always be family and we will always wait for you. So do your best out there, and return to us stronger in 2019. We are waiting for you Minhyunnie.” 

How could Minhyun not cry harder after hearing that. He missed his family, he missed NU’EST, he missed his LOVEs, he missed his home -- but even if this moment was fleeting he found comfort in his brothers’ embrace. 

It might have been temporary but it was their family reunion.

GOD FUCKING DAMN IT I HAVE FEELINGS

i didn’t watch like the first hour, but i was there for the family reunion, some of the performances, and rankings. when the videos from trainees’ parents appeared, i got super touched. all the trainees looked so happy, and when the parents ACTUALLY came???? i had to stop myself from crying. it was just..... really emotional, because daehwi’s mom came from america, haknyeon’s parents from jeju-do, guanlin’s fam from taiwan!! i just!!! ah!!!!

so, rankings. before anything, i got the most scared for the impending hate some of the trainees would get for making it. for all the shit i gave haknyeon, he ended up growing on me at the very end and it was really horrible how people disliked him to such an extent of sending hate messages & being really uncalled for.... i knew there was a good chance at least one of the F class trainees would make it, and i knew that they’d get the most hate. in all the chats i saw during my streaming misadventures, that much was true.

rankings actually started happening. RANKINGS THAT WERE 80% WAITING, I HAD STOMACH PAINS.... FUCK

my heart honestly, honestly soared when baejin got called. he’s grown so much, he was actually one of my favs since the very beginning because i saw so much potential in him. to see him over the season learn to keep his head up, find friends, smile widely, i just. i was so proud. and then minhyun got called, and i had the worst feeling that only 1 pledis trainee would make it (and that turned out to be true, and i hated that). 

jisung-- jisung getting called for #8 made me happier beyond belief. everyone, literally everyone was happy for him to climb onto the pyramid. HIS PARENTS WERE THERE, TOO, AND THAT WAS EVERYTHING.... guanlin, my kid, i’m proud of him, too...... he gave his speech in 3 languages and didn’t even cry, he’s gonna be the Big & Strong Maknae :’)

ACTUAL TEARS FOR PARK WOOJIN.. my dude apologized for his bad health, like? no, being healthy is the Most Important, we love you, we love you so much and daehwi exposing him and saying how he was crying so much? i love Friendship. ong seongwoo, too, when he stepped up i was so glad!!! he got there!! he!!! did!!!! that!!!!!!!! he was so excited and thankful.... ugh, he deserves the entire world tbh

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND LET’S HEAR IT FOR KIM INDIVIDUAL TRAINEE JAEHWAN LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE L E G E N D honestly???? the entire time i was watching the ranking i was hoping FOR DEAR GOD to have kim jaehwan snatch rank11 and when he got called for #4?? my dude?? DID THAT???? i gasped so loudly, i almost cried, i love him so much!!!! he dedicated his speech to those individual trainees, said that since he made it they can make it, too, aND I’M JUST... I’M NOT OVER HOW GREAT HE IS... I LOVE HIM SO MUCH I WAS SPEECHLESS I STILL AM AND WHEN DAEHWI GOT CALLED TOO,,,, SOMI STARTED SOBBING,, MAN WAS I HOLDING BACK THEM TEARS.,,,.

i realize now that i never had park jihoon on my top11 lmao but i’m okay with him as #2. i didn’t expect him to fall out of the top11. i expect him to grow on me, and also the other members bc he seems like the kind of guy who struggles a bit before being entirely comfortable with people. but the KING of CATS got that #1 spot!!!!!!! KANG DANIEL!!! GOD DANIEL!!!! THE PEACH!!!!!!!!!!! all the hugs he got!!!!!!

in all honesty, i didn’t have sungwoon in my expectations but now that i look at it, i don’t mind it!! he’s a great vocal, he’s risen so much, and i think he’s even more of a dark horse than big woojin was!!! the thing that i hated tho was that for #11, it was between dongho, jonghyun, sewoon, & sungwoon. i know everyone said jonghyun really deserved to be in the top11, from all the work that he’s done for everyone else, but idk how that would fare with jisung already in a leader-like position? imo, it would’ve been cool to see them as co-leaders but :/// idk korea.... i’m sorry for dongho, who was always my fav from nu’est, & sewoon, ponyo boy. 

and for the other trainees i was rooting for but didn’t make it!!! --ahn hyungseob!!! yuehua boy, D class to A, rose dude, pick me dancer, raw egg eater, chair thrower!!!! a trainee with so much life & love.. definitely deserved more recognition for his charms and skills throughout the show :((  --yoo seonho!!!!! Big Cube Chick, piano player, humble boy, clingy teen, young child who just wants to have All The Friends!!!! seeing him grow thru pd101, like guanlin, was so nice to see. i hope he keeps training, trying to reach his dream!! he’s got so much potential!!!!! --KIM SAMUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is so much everyone has already said for my brave son, but i.... to add in my two cents, i just want him to BELONG SOMEWHERE. he’s been training so long, and i just. i want him to be happy. lots of people are trying to say how he’ll be successful w/o being in the group, but i can’t take them seriously because... have they seen 1punch? it didn’t work out great. he’s still young, yeah, but he’s already devoted so much to training and!! he deserves so much more!!! than #18!!!!!!!!!!! wtf!!!!

(oh, also need to add, special shoutout to im youngmin because mnet forgot that he, too, is a brand new music trainee and never once panned to him when saying “brand new music trainee”!! to minki, who was one in the same!!! and even haknyeon, who i’ve decided is Nice)

in conclusion, i’m happy but sad. and what kind of name is “wanna one” i’m appalled

pd101 s2 finale

i’m salty still but extremely happy basically i am kwon hyunbin in a nutshell

Don’t get me wrong, I‘m over the moon with who are debuting, but that doesn’t mean I’m not salty. I am. I loved all 20 boys. Hell, I loved a lot of these 101 boys. Just as I did in S1.

Kang Daniel deserved center. And remember how he wanted to lead? Because of Jonghyun. His frienship w little Woojin was also unforgettable and heartbreaking when Woojin was eliminated. And just when I thought he  was a rapper, his sweet voice shone. Our wink boy (jihoon) and Samuel were both the first names I ever heard about when PD101 rumors started. Jihoon is a pretty boy. He won fans’ hearts. Daehwi, much like Yoojung, was a name known from the beginning bc of their center position. I knew he’d get in. Jaehwan is SO DAMN TALENTED (and scary during games) and an independent trainee guys. Seongwoo is visuals, he’s talented, he’s a sweetie, he’s a lot. I was so happy when he was called. Woojin rose and rose and went from a shy baby to shining on stage. He and Daehwi were shocked when their fellow teammate, Youngmin, didn’t make it. Guanlin is a baby and only trained for 6 months - new to Korean culture and language, sucked at dance, can’t sing, but can rap and speak English well. He was this season’s Sohye (one of them). And he trained hard to learn. Jisung has been a trainee for years. He is 27. Albeit he is kooky, sweet, caring, and a determined little shit, he has waited all this time. He reminded me of Hwang Insun & Chanmi from S1. He brightened the room. Minhyun, although he was already debuted in NU’EST, he cried in the corner after the show, he clung to Seonho and Jonghyun, he smiled anyways, and he’ll be separated from his bros for 2 years. He’s an angel, always complimenting others, and works hard. Jinyoung was the dark horse because he looked so innocent and shy but he has vocals! He can dance, he can show visuals, he can light up a room. Sungwoon has power vocals. After Taehyun got eliminated, he needed to make it. Not just for himself, but for his group - they probably would’ve disbanded after this. I agree with the person who first said that. He’s so freaking talented (as is Taehyun) and I hoped at least one of those boys would get it. He did. We’ve got visuals, rappers, vocals, dancers (Sam & Taehyun weren’t the only dancers), and much more. Wanna One will be good. Sure, I am so fucking upset that Jonghyun didn’t make it. I’m engulfed in rage. He and Samuel deserved it. Samuel choreographed a shit ton. Samuel was the equivalent of Jeon Somi - but he didn’t even make it to the top 14. He went from 5th to who-knows-where in a week. WTF. We watched his parents cry at the finale. We watched his heart break. He has spent a good portion of his life training, not getting into Seventeen, 1Punch disbanding, and then to be knocked last minute. S A L T Y. And yes, Dongho deserved better. Youngmin deserved better. Minki, Hyungseob, Seonho, Sewoon. They all deserved better. And I didn’t really like Haknyeon, so hate on me idc. But look... we lost a lot of talented boys already. Woodam, RBW boys, Taehyun, Takada Kenta, Sanggyun, Yongguk, Sunghyuk, Moonbok, Jinyoung, Uiwoong, Jung Jung, Dongha, Donghyun, and more. They got slept on. My hope is they do like last year and make a 2nd group (like IBI) except promote them better.
