(Part 2 fic)

A/N: I've been thinking about this all morning, and I want to talk about it and it's driving me crazy. I've never really ever shared anything like this ever, so I'm a bit nervous haha

Disclaimer: This is purely fiction and is not to be applied to any real context. If someone is like this IRL, that is not okay.

- This man definitely watches you through whatever technology you have, and I refuse to believe anything less.

- In some fics, I've seen the reference to him spying on people through cameras but I mostly see it in yan AU fics where he is doing it to intentionally try to control and manipulate them. I think instead he does it because he's a pathetic simp. 💀

- Vox seems like he would be very much against directly pursuing anyone for romantic relationships due to how insecure he is underneath all of the egotistical bullshit he puts out at all times. This imo would manifest as also having a severe fear of rejection - especially if he does manage to get romantic feelings for someone else.

- Due to this, he spends a borderline obsessive amount of time watching the person he's attracted to without their permission as he's too chicken shit to seem *too interested* in them by actually asking them about their interests and things about yourself.

- At first it's just very rarely watching you - mainly after meeting up with you to see how you are after. He wants to see if you are happy or if you secretly hate the time you spend together with him because he is insecure as shit.

- It gradually becomes more and more frequent the more he falls for you, until it's a pastime watching what you're doing.

- He learns what your favourite things are, what you hate, what you do in your spare time, who your friends are, who your family are, etc. Etc. He knows just about everything you do in your free time.

- He will then use this information to try to get closer with you in everyday life.

- If you ask how he knows he will respond like he's just 'that good' at knowing what you like. You don't miss the way he starts sweating slightly as he's further prodded though.

- After you prod him for more on the subject he's going to be sitting in slight horror with his hands covering his face the second you leave.

- It also begins to extend to watching everything as well the more desperate he gets.

- For a while, he refuses to continue to watch you if you start to take your clothes off as he feels like that's crossing the line even with his tendencies.

- But a mixture of his desperation and craving to see that gets to him.

- The first time he watches you get undressed, he's flustered as all hell, brain telling him to switch the feed off while the other part of himself is absolutely screaming in excitement over seeing your naked skin slowly being revealed to him.

- It becomes an extremely shameful tendency after that as he begins to watch more and more as it drives him absolutely wild.

- I just have the mental image of him sitting in his studio after-hours and watching you pleasure yourself while he does the same. Him being embarrassed as hell, filled with self-loathing about it, but still desperate to continue watching you arching and letting out whimpers and moans of ecstacy.

- I feel like if he saw you after these sessions he'd not be able to hold it together as well as he usually does when you pry into something to do with him secretly spying upon you. He'd be smiling a tense smile, little animated sweat drops on his face along with light blue flush across his cheeks as he stutters with glitches while being questioned about why he was acting up.

- Giving you bullshit reasons in his normally cocky tone that were so obviously bullshit you don't even need to squint at them to tell.

- If you pry into it he may just start error-ing.

Someone needs to put me down about him.

- Afterwards, he'd probably be mortified in private. I can see him laying face down while blue screening on the floor of his room out of embarrassment whining with his ego in tatters about failing so badly to fully keep his 'extra-curriculars' under wraps in front of you.

When did you start writing?

So long ago that I no longer recall when it was. I also like arranging and playing with words. It's a crutch for me; my brain often feels aimless and chaotic. Writing lets me lock down my thoughts so I can quit chasing them.Expressing myself face-to-face has always been a struggle; I hide behind screens, sunglasses and masks. I'm happiest when people don't know what I look or sound like, and writing is the easiest way to talk with people without my physical-ness getting in the way.

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

Love horror, adore it. I'm not super great at writing it (yet!).

I also love heists. I keep trying to write a heist. It is not going well.

Finally, I love mythologies and folklore. I'm currently really into American Indigenous (specifically Inuit and I just got a book on Latin American mythologies) and Middle Eastern (specifically Iranian). Or, at least what I can find in English, from a reputable source. I would love to write about characters from these (Esfandiyār! Sedna!) but I'm a white American who is neither a part of those cultures nor educated enough to treat the subject with the respect it deserves.

But I will talk about them and encourage other people to learn because they're very cool.

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

Haha, I specifically don't read while I'm writing so I don't emulate anyone, but creativity doesn't happen in a vacuum so..

My writing style and content were influenced by the authors I grew up on: KA Applegate, Terry Pratchett, Diana Wynne Jones, Terry Brooks, Sergio Lukyanenko, Neil Gaiman, Francesca Lia Blake, Anne Bishop, Terry Goodkind, Arthur C Clarke, Laurel K Hamilton. Some of those authors I was far too young to read, a lot I don't read or like anymore, but they definitely shaped my fascination with urban fantasy, people living normal lives in weird worlds, people finding the weird in normal worlds, horror and humor and how they fit together, how both are most effective when they're just reality taken slightly off-kilter, and how small any single person's perspective is.

I've also been on Tumblr for about a billion years and have the Tumblr/millennial accent and I'm too tired to change it. 

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

On my phone, swipe keyboard, usually while commuting or waiting in line or standing over the stove or late at night when I can't sleep. Writing isn't a priority in my life right now, so I squeeze it into all the empty spaces.

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

I wrote about this here under "recharging when I'm not feeling creative" and here under "where do you get inspiration", but short answer is taking a complete break from creating anything, slogging through whatever is blocking me or interacting with my community.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

Shifting identities and what defines a person. I was raised on the idea that the "soul" is a person's core unifying self. I'm fascinated by this concept because if you take away "soul" as an easy answer, then what is a person? What makes me the same person as who I was twenty years ago? As me, age 2 months? If I lost all my memories, am I still me? What if I only lose one thing, like my driving force, or a fundamental belief, or if I recover from trauma or receive treatment for a chronic condition? What if I was uploaded into a machine? 

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I think I probably assign my identity to experience: memory, skills, hobbies, achievements and failures, and those are the concepts I've been exploring a lot.

What is your reason for writing?

I get itchy otherwise.

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

I like knowing the exact parts people like, so whenever anyone quotes part of a fic, I get excited. I also love hearing people's theories or if they noticed any Easter eggs or references. My writing is so self indulgent sometimes and meeting people who also like it feels like meeting people who would like me? (That sounds really pathetic haha but I'm leaving it because it's honest).

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

Funny! And hopefully a bit creative. 

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Finishing a piece before I publish it, I guess. Writers have a right to bail on a piece for whatever reason, even for no reason. Writers have a right to publish incomplete work. But, personally, I'm a little proud that I put out completed pieces. 

I also try to write in a way that's uncomplicated. I avoid using oversized words, complex sentences, too many pronouns or vague references. Keep things simple, you know? I want to write things that people can read when they're distracted, or only have time for a few paragraphs, or if they aren't great readers.

Usually when I'm reading my head is already fried and I don't have the time or spoons to get assaulted by a thesaurus.

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely for yourself, or a mix of both?

I'm only influenced if I'm doing a piece for someone, or if I know a specific person will read it and I want to make them smile. Beyond that, it's all for me :)

How do you feel about your own writing?

It's a little trite, but that's okay. I love happy endings, so I aim for that. I also love the bizarre, absurd and ridiculous.

I do overuse this sentence format, where it's two clauses together. I'd like to fix that. And like all my paragraphs are three sentences, gross.

Anyway, I like it overall.

Ahh so you like intricate designs! How cool! Is there s sort of theme henna designs follow? Please, tell me about it! (˶ˆᗜˆ˵) Truth be told I know next to nothing about henna aside from the fact it stains the skin with whatever design was piped onto it. What's the longest you've taken with a design? To answer your question it's not a lot, ha. I'm just clumsy and rough with most things so my hands are almost always scraped up!

Mm, I do like the idea of running my hands through your hair though. (≧∇≦) Speaking of, what's your hair like? Thick, thin, wavy, straight, coily? Oh! Have you dyed it before?

Haha I'd have to agree on the making friends bit! If it's of any comfort I also have struggled to make friends, especially over the last couple years. (¬_¬") Traveling together would be lovely!! Where would you want to go? I'm more than happy to tag along, tbh I think its the company that makes the experience enjoyable. Whether that be through travel companion or the people you meet, y'know? Ahh lately I've been playing Sun Haven !!! It's a very cute and cozy game! (๑>◡<๑) Though outside of that I really like puzzle, adventure, & horror games! The first that comes to mind being dinner with an owl. I believe it's classed as horror? Though it's a puzzle game as well.

I've heard people talk about Genshin! Personally I could never get into it but I am curious, what aspect of it do you enjoy? How'd you get into it?

Awe I hope you find the time to get into crocheting!!!! It seems like such a fun hobby!! Oh also, maybe we could do pottery together one day, I think that'd be fun. ( 'ヮ' )

Ragdolls are adorable ohmygoodness you have the best taste !!!! I adore them !! ahh such cuties !!! Mm I have no type in mind! Chocolate cake because I absolutely LOVE chocolate, buy me a really good chocolate and I’ll literally beg and kneel for it. I likeee raspberry cheesecake, I eat it the most often. Sometimes if I travel to the city somewhere and it’s available I’ll get basque cheesecake. Both are really good!

I have 2 sisters! One is older and graduated college and is off to find a job. The other sister is even older. I have no idea what happened to her, I don’t really remember her. I think she left around the time I was 4? She kinda just disappeared..? Nobody talks about her in my family so I rather just not ask questions about her. I hope she’s doing well now.

No I have my own personally dorm, very grateful for that.. (oh my goodness I had an entire paragraph here AND IT DIDNT SAVE UFHFHD) Settling in wasn’t too hard, I don’t have that much furniture, just basic necessities. My neighbors are fairly quiet and nice so that’s good. You mentioned your neighbors before in the cat conversation, how are they like?

Yes 6am-8pm is a quite hard even for me who’s going through it every single day. I do get breaks here and there so at least I’m not studying or working 24/7. I sometimes think it might be helpful in the future to be used to very long hours especially with jobs and whatnot.. I know you don’t have anything right now but what would your ideal timings be? Like 9am-5pm? Or something similar?

Hmm I could’ve chosen an art degree and pursue my life in art, or in literature and writing. I wanted to be an English teacher growing up, or like a teacher that taught you how to write. I had such amazing English teachers in high school, they motivated me so much. I won’t ramble about them for now, otherwise it’ll get very long but if you want to hear more about them, tell me! I’d love to talk about them. The path of being a teacher is too far from me now though. :(

Probably one of my regrets is that I never asked. I think the biggest problem with me is that I just blindly trust the people I love, especially my parents.. I was always taught the mindset of “always trust your parents! They know what’s best for you always and don’t doubt them at all!” for my entire life and I kinda just stick with it. now that I’m writing/texting this down I realize how dumb I sound now, why did I not ask them? Of course I don’t exactly believe in it as much, I was always the “good kid” to my parents, did whatever they wanted without question. One of my biggest regrets and problems in life. I’ll try to explain “theme!” Henna normally involves types of flower shapes (ex: roses, lotuses) the most common flower you’ll find on henna is a spiral one with petals, I don’t think it has a name though.. I could show a picture if you want! Also leaves and vines are common. The basic structure of henna is based on lines, chains and humps normally (of course this depends on what design your doing, some may have more chains, lines than others) There are different types of henna styles that include more themes than others like Arabic mehndi, Floral mehndi, bridal etc. The longest I’ve taken on a design was at least 3 days. I regret never taking a picture of it cause it was really pretty. I do have henna on my hand right now! It’s a bit faded but I can still send a picture if you want! Scraped up? Now you worry me, do I need to wrap bandages around them for you and kiss them?

My hair is black and wavy, it’s mostly in braids or out cause most of the time I’m too lazy to style my hair.. it’s fairly long and reaches my thighs. My parents were always against dying my hair so I never did it, but I’m willing to try highlights or something similar! What about your hair? Did you dye it? What type of hair texture is it?

I don’t think I mentioned anything about movies? Did I? But I don’t watch too many movies, it’s difficult to find time to watch a full 1-2 hour movie sometimes.. do you have any recommendations for movies? On Roblox sometimes I play dti (that game got everyone on a chokehold) Cake off was also one of my favorite games, if you check my Pinterest you’d see all my past cake designs! Story games are always fun to play, I love choosing my own actions and finding new endings. I also play horror games here and there.. sometimes it’s really fun or just confusing, boring cause I don’t know what the hell to do. Some horror games need some actual directions cause I’m just a lost soul wandering sometimes.. :( my favorite one on Roblox right now has to be the “Mimic” though. It’s popular for a very good reason! Interliminality is a close call too.

I drew birds mainly I think, they were always pretty to me. But I also drew all type of animals like lions, sharks, dolphins, elephants etc. it’s a large spectrum! I enjoyed grassy fields or like fields with a river? Also sunsets were very enjoyable to draw, gave the painting a bit more of a spark! They are difficult.. thank you for your praises though! Were you ever good at art/tried in art?

Ooo..? What would we bake together I wonder.. definitely cake obviously, brownies? I think cupcakes go in the category of cakes? Am I wrong? No clue. Washing dishes together in double sinks are just so fricken romantic!! Like I’d love to wash dishes with the one I love! Friends are fairly difficult make especially considering how busy everyone is.. I’d want to go tooo… Greece, Iceland, Costa Rica honestly I’m down to go anywhere! Expect France.. I once did travel there with family for fun and it was absolutely horrible. The view was amazing but the people were shitty… I think I was 7 at the time so it’s a bit of a blurry memory now, but I clearly remember some natives spitting on my mom’s dress and face.. disgusting. It could be I just went at a very bad place and at a very wrong time? Who knows but I’m probably not going there for a while. You’re right about that! Company is so SOO much better than traveling alone! cries as a lonely traveler.. Let’s hold hands and walk the streets!! ^^ I do miss traveling with my family since it always felt like I had a guide or some support. Sun haven? I have to search that one up I’ve never heard of it before.. care to help me when if I do ever try playing? Also care to explain why the first thing that came up when I search sun haven was “sun haven romantic options??” I also enjoy puzzle and horror games.. though sometimes I struggle with solving them cause I’m slightlyy dumb.. I do prefer horror games with more storyline driven. Ah! I know Dinner with an Owl! I think someone recommended it to me once, I searched it up but I never actually did try it. Is it hard?

I found Genshin through a specific YouTuber, I tried playing it and got absolutely hooked, I love visual games and the story was super fun. I kept going with it for a good while (started in March 2021). I did eventually take a break around February 2022 cause I got older, workload was increasing and didnt really have time for it. Now I’m not as dedicated as I used to be but still a really fun game. Why do you think you wouldn’t get into it? That’s an interesting opinion I haven’t heard in a while.

Pottery or crocheting would be fun together, anything really with you would be fun no matter what the subject. ^^

I feel like I’d want to make more memories with my cats and watch them grow up so I’d probably get a young maybe new born cat? I want to take pictures of their growth and make colleges out of it. I honestly want to stay dedicated and devoted to only one cat but unfortunately they don’t last forever..

Jam is sometimes too sweet, too clumpy, or just not appealing to me.. I hate food stain whether it’s jam or something else. I absolutely hate honey filled things too, also too sweet and overly sticky.

Currently I’m just unwinding by responding to asks! It’s a fun way to let all my feelings out, doing henna is also fun, most of the time I just take a very long nap, I’m normally really tired after school and work, so sleeping is my best choice. My breaks are pretty short timespans so reading is also relaxing. Taking care of myself of myself would just be me cooking a yummy meal, do some skincare, take care of hair and actually maybe style it for once? I don’t relax often in long time periods so I’m not used to thinking this type of way… it’s fun to meet people who are opposite of me! Yet we’re so similar in other ways too. Considering I’m writing this as it is “tomorrow” yes today was way more lax! I didn’t have troubles this time and I got along talking with classmates, made some valuable memories today.

The cold is honestly really romantic.. and aesthetically pleasing. I’ve always known the term “yandere” for a good while but I’d never looked into it. I think it was 2 years ago that I actually searched about it and it felt comforting? Like I felt like I somehow related to some of the things. I never really interacted with the community until recently, I think around the middle of October? I deal with obsession with work, hobbies, interests etc. Every time I obsess over someone it feels so.. uncomfortable and far. It hurted me a lot especially if they weren’t giving me attention. Work actually helps a lot considering I have a lot of things to get done, lot of things to think about, etc. I did get into soccer to get over my obsessions in high school over somebody and it worked really well! I also ended up being a pretty good soccer player, unfortunately my skills are pretty rusty now. What about you? What made you into this community in the first place?

Oh wow, you're not messing around haha! Here we go!

1. What is their blood status (pureblood, muggleborn, etc)? What are their thoughts on the concept of blood status?

Being a Black, Aquila is a pureblood. She's been raised on the typical pureblood supremacy rhetoric, so that's how she begins the story, but throughout her time at Hogwarts and through her interactions with Harry, Ron, Hermione, the other Weasleys, and other characters, she starts to learn and grow and realize that the "correct order of things" that her parents always talked about is completely backwards and that actions, not blood, is a measure of a person's worth.

2. What is their wand wood and core?

Her wand is made of aspen wood with a unicorn hair core!

3. Do they bring a pet to Hogwarts with them?

She has a pet black cat named Lynx.

4. What Hogwarts house were they sorted into? Why did the hat put them in that house over the others? Was it a quick sorting or a hatstall? Are they happy with their sorting? What Hogwarts house would they least fit into?

Aquila, to her initial horror, is sorted into Gryffindor. The hat saw what she can't really see in herself, which is a real inner strength and courage she's developed over the years living in a toxic and abusive household, and also the bravery she'll develop in the coming years at Hogwarts. The hat knew as soon as it touched her head where she would go, so definitely not a hatstall. Aquila is definitely upset at being sorted into Gryffindor, especially since she was expecting to be in Slytherin (which is the house she fits into least), but she learns to accept it and even embrace it as she gets older.

5. What subject is their favorite at Hogwarts? Which is their least favorite? Is their favorite the same as their best subject?

I swear I decided this at some point and now I totally forget. Her least favorite is definitely History of Magic, just because she's been raised in the wizarding world and probably knows a bunch of it already. She really likes Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies in third year, and she's a fan of Defense Against the Dark Arts (when they have a competent teacher) and Transfiguration!

6. What electives do they chose in third year?

Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, Ancient Runes, and Muggle Studies!

7. Do they earn more house points or do they lose more?

It's probably an even tie, though maybe more toward lose more haha. She gains a lot for answering questions correctly in class, but she's friends with Harry, Ron, and Hermione so she's losing some for being out of bounds and whatnot, plus when she's in a bad mood because of things at home or because of personal stuff she's more likely to snap at professors she doesn't like, which doesn't help much

8. How do they do on their OWLs? On their NEWTs?

Aquila does exceedingly well on her OWLs, not only because she's a great student, but also because she puts a lot of pressure on herself (stemming from being the heir to a pureblood family) to be as perfect as possible. I actually don't know if she'll take NEWTs or not because I hadn't quite decided whether Aquila will go on the run with Harry and co. or if she'll stay behind and attend seventh year at Hogwarts.

9. Thoughts on Quidditch? Do they play? And if so what position do they play?

Cepheus (her father) is the Worst and never let Aquila play before she got to Hogwarts, but she loves it. She knows all the stats about the major players in the national and international leagues. Eventually, because of Harry, Fred, and George getting banned by Umbridge during fifth year, Aquila lands a spot on the Gryffindor team as a beater, which she's ridiculously good at, and makes the team again in sixth year in the same position.

10. What Wizarding treat (bertie botts, chocolate frogs, etc.) is their favorite?

Cauldron Cakes!

11. What is their Patronus? What happy memory do the use to conjure it?

So I took the Patronus test for her and got a White Mare, but I'm not sure if I'll keep that. Aquila's happy memory is the first time she truly felt at home and accepted among Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the greater Gryffindor house.

12. What is their Boggart? What happens to it when they cast Riddikulus?

Aquila's Boggart is her father, Cepheus, because between both her parents he's crueler and much more abusive than her mother. Not sure what happens when she casts Riddikulus yet, actually! I hadn't gotten that far haha.

13. What does Amortentia smell like to them?

To Aquila, Amortentia smells like wood polish, a clean, flowery scent, a dusty scent, and a hint of cinnamon

14. What spell is their favorite? Which do they use the most?

I honestly haven't thought about that. Maybe Accio, because she can be quite lazy at times and not want to get up to grab something if she's working hard on homework lol.

15. If they needed it, what form would the Room of Requirement take for them?

Somewhere she can be alone and distracted from whatever is bothering her at the moment.

16. If they trained as an Animagus what form would they take?

Maybe a cat, since she loves her cat Lynx.

Another thing I swore I had figured out but cannot remember for some reason. When she was younger she thought she would go into the Ministry like her father, but after her relationship with her family falls apart that plan does too. I'm not sure! That's something that'll get decided soon hopefully lol.

18. Which Unforgivable Curse would they be most likely to use? What would be the reason for it?

Having been raised in a family like the Blacks Aquila's morality is a bit skewed sometimes, so she wouldn't be opposed to using the Imperius curse to get what she wanted, but only for a very good reason, not just on a whim.

19. Which Unforgivable Curse would they hate to have used on them the most?

So actually Cepheus is a piece of shit and Aquila knows first-hand how it feels to have the Cruciatus curse used on her, and she never ever wants to feel it again.

20. Which Deathly Hallow (wand, stone, or cloak) would they want? Why?

Probably the cloak, to be able to hide away when she gets overwhelmed and just take a moment to herself

Oh god this is my favorite question. I’m not sure how to answer it but its my fave. Pull up a chair. I hope you’ve got some time on your hands.

The short answer: yes. You should at least give it a try. Transformers is a 30+ year old muti-media franchise that gets rebooted almost every 3 years so it basically has something interesting to offer almost any fan. If you end up not liking it that’s cool but there’s a lot to try before you decide.

The long answer is: yes you should and here’s why and here’s a rough idea of all the options you have to sample. I’m about to go on a long rant anon so you can check it out now or later or whatever but I’m just warning you ahead of time.

The basic Transformers plot (which I’m sure you know but I’m gonna go more in depth in a minute) is that a race of giant robot aliens who can turn into vehicles and other things have been engaged in a civil war that has lasted millions of years. This is the basic plot that all tf franchises spawn from although some explore slightly different subject matters. If that doesn’t appeal to you I mean there /might/ be a few other things you might find worth sticking around for because there’s just so fucking much of it, but you’re welcome to turn back now because that’s the basic things tf has to offer: giant robot aliens, cars and planes, fighting, some drama. Those are what tf is best at, with some variation.

It has a very active and long lived fan base and each section of the fan base is interested in different stuff with some crossover. There are people who literally only care about collecting the toys, people who wont try any other series except g1, people who only like the comics, etc. Etc. You’ll probably find people who like what you do pretty readily. If you like the toys there are toy forums and blogs. If you like the cartoons there are forums and blogs made for that too. If you like the comics, same. There’s a pretty active following of the comics and cartoon series on Tumblr alone; I would try searching the #maccadam tag since most tf activity has been moved there since the bay movies came out. Id also use the tf wiki liberally because it has pm all the information you’ll need to know about the fandom and the canon lore. There’s also plenty of fan fiction on Ao3 and ff.net if you’re into that and pm anyplace that hosts fan art has tf fan art.

Now there are several series, including comics, cartoons, the Michael bay films, the cartoon movie, spin off books, and video games. I’m gonna go over my personal favorites because I like and know them best but there are more than these if you’re interested in digging deeper.

G1: there are a lot of forms of what fans refer to as Generation 1 or G1 but if you live in the US its likely they’re talking about the very first cartoon series.

Summary: the autobots and the decepticons stripped their planet of resources and went looking for a new planet to continue surviving on. They both crashlanded on earth where they lay dormant for millions of years until conveniently awakened somewhere during the 1980s, where they continue their war all over again

Why you should try it: listen its cheesy as hell and full of nonsense plotlines and animation errors but not only is it good fun but at least watching an episode or two might give you a decent grasp on what spawned this enormous franchise in the first place.

G1 movie: this movie was a game changer. Its technically right in the middle of the g1 cartoon but it works as a standalone film too. while it has many trappings of the cartoon its better animated and has a more consistent and dramatic story.

Summary: Optimus Prime and Megatron fight, OP dies (yes he fucking DIES for the very first time. thousands of 10 year olds bawl their eyes out), Megatron gets mortally wounded, and the Matrix of Leadership (aka an autobot holy item/macguffin [this is the proto-cube btw]) has to choose a new leader.

Why you should try it: decent animation, classics lines, tons of 80s rock music, and it establishes a lot of tf conventions that would be carried over to all series that come after it.

Beast Wars: haha the 90s couldn’t be left out of the transformers fun, now could it? This was one of the first all-cg cartoon series in history and while its not much to look at nowadays, it was a big step in the 90s.

Summary: the series doesn’t center on Optimus Prime and Megatron but their decendants. The war is long over but some factions are starting to clash once again. Several members of these factions do the whole “crash land on earth while fighting” thing except they wake up during times before humans and instead of taking vehicle modes, they take animal forms, thus the name.

Why you should give it a try: it establishes the idea of Sparks for the first time, it has historical significance in the cgi realm, and it has a decent storyline with interesting characters. If you can muscle through the 90s-computer-animation look it might be the show for you!

Transformers: Animated: I dont think its a secret that this is one of my favorite tf series of all times. It was the first cartoon series I ever watched of tf and it also features my favorite toy line.

Summary: Optimus Prime is much less a war hero and more of a ..janitor really. He flunked out of the academy and spends his time repairing space bridges. One time during repairs though, they stumble across the Cube and just their luck, Megatron and some nearby cons are looking for it. They portal away to earth where they, you guessed it, crashland, until they’re awoken sometime in the future and go on adventures in futuristic Detroit.

Why you should give it a try: I like tfa’s art style and story and characterisation best tbh; Optimus is younger and more unsure of himself but also more earnest, with more visible baggage. The rest of his team feel like a ragtag band of misfits (which I have a weakness for no lie lmfao) who are still trying to find their place in this conflict and the future ahead of them. Sari is also one of the more beloved human companions and the show’s take on classics characters feels fresh and interesting, and the interpretation of the autobots and decepticons themselves is surprisingly nuanced.

Transformers: Prime: remember that 90s animation? Kiss that shit good bye my friend. This cgi is some beautiful shit. More than a few fans wish tfp is the art direction the movies had taken, storyline aside.

Summary: the autobots are already on earth, staking it out and fighting a more subdued sort of conflict with the cons. One day they get some human kids involved and stumble across some conspiracy shit and it all spirals out of control from there.

Why you should give it a try: great animation and atmosphere, gorgeous character designs, a solid interpretation go the characters, and it offers a more serious take on the story over all.

Rescue Bots: I’ve noticed this show doesn’t make the list a lot which is a shame? It has a much younger audience than any of then other series but its still quality and one of my fave tf series.

Summary: the ship of four non-combatants who were left in stasis before the war detect a transmission telling autobots to go to earth, so it…goes to earth. There they wake up on some island and are told they’ve gotta start building a repatoire with the native species…but they can’t reveal that they’re sentient aliens yet.

Why you should give it a try: ok ok, most of the series are made for 7-12 year olds with the teen and adult fans sort of in mind, this show…is a show made for pre-K kids, no joke. Its a lot less…murder-y, and this is especially saying something because it came out at the same time TFP did and in fact is supposed to take place in the same universe!

BUT, but it has a consistently well-written story and characterization, it addresses stuff I never thought it would, and its a nice break from the ridiculously high stakes of the other series. Honestly Rescue Bots is great and I wish more people talked about it because its a series totally worth watching, certainly as much as any of the others.

More Than Meets the Eye comics: there are a lot of comic series but so far this is my favorite one lol

Summary: the war is over, Optimus is done with everyone’s shit and splits the matrix in half, giving one to rodimus and they other to bumblebee. And what does roddy do with his newfound matrix half? Decide he’s going on a quest of course! And who better to go with than literally every unqualified misfit the autobot and neutral factions have to offer?

Why you should give it a try: ridiculous shenanigans, horror, drama, intrigue, strong characterisation, and a killer aesthetic. Damn it may not always give me what I want but its got a lot of exactly what I’m always looking for.

There are some video games (Fall of Cybertron, War For Cybertron, Transformers: Devastation), other comic series (Robots in Disguise, G1/UK comics), and the Robots in Disguise cartoon, however I don’t have a decent enough grasp on them to describe them super well I just know they’re pretty good and have had people recommend them to me. You’re welcome to try those as well of course.

Also if you’re into toy collecting or want to get into it there’s a lot of materials you can read and such but my personal advice is pretty simple:

1) go to walmart, target, a store that sells collectibles, a convention, or a garage sale

2) buy a cheap toy that you like. Don’t spend over like $20

3) decide if that was a fun experience or not and if you like having this toy or not

If you liked it enough to keep buying, then congrats, toy collecting might be right for you! Do your research, Don’t blow too much money too quickly, take it easy, have fun.

But yeah sorry this is really long but I do hope you consider giving transformers a try since I know I love it a lot and it really has a lot to offer. I hope this wasn’t like…a crazy response. That a crazy person might give. And that I didn’t scare you away or anything XS
