Can you write some headcannons about what dating MGS2!Raiden would be like?
Yup, sure!
MGS2!Raiden x Reader dating headcannons
Tumblr media
-Prepare for lame jokes. No, seriously, Raiden has some of the corniest dad jokes in existence.
-Takes you on dates in the city, just the two of you walking around hand in hand, admiring the bustling scenery together.
-Will let you dress him up like a fairy princess or whatever you want, makeup, hair and nails included.
-You two have King Kong and Godzila movie marathons every week.
-These marathons usually have lots of cuddling, snacks, sparky comments, giggling, and occasionally goofy imitations of the battles taking place in the currently playing movie mixed in with them.
-Takes selfies of himself in his tight uniform at work and sends them to you, usually with a suggestive caption.
-Loves playing video games with you, especially fighting or multi-player shooting games.
-He has tried to give you a lap dance before, and thanks to those wide, child-bearing hips of his, he slayed.
-Will learn how to cook for you so when he's off duty and you're at work, you get the luxury of coming home to a hot meal.
-Has attempted crocheting and has made you a few pretty towels, scarves, and a little hat for when it gets chilly.

And here's the bio for our main villain of the Godzilla: Monster Watch AU!
King Ghidorah: An unfathomably evil and tyrannical alien dragon with scales like gold and three heads capable of unleashing all manner of storms and hurricanes. King Ghidorah is the God that Organization X’s top brass worships, the source of Godzila’s childhood trauma, a surprisingly intelligent and talkative beast, and the greatest threat of the series. Organization X is convinced that one day, he will return to cleanse the world of its imperfections, and let them rule alongside him. Of course, he has no intention of keeping his end of the deal. He gets his power by feeding off of the collective despair of any planet’s inhabitants. And there’s more than plenty of that to go around on Earth. So, you’d better hope that both mankind and the Kaiju are ready when he inevitably shows up. Also, I will accept no other voice actor for him that isn't David Kaye.

I've been wanting to see one of the newer horror movies or King Kong x Godzila. So tell me which one you watched and how'd you liked it.
I totally get what you mean. Some times I want to be cuddled like I'm a precious gem but other times I hate even having someone try to touch me. My love language is a mix between quality time and words of affirmation.
-💤
I’ll def share my thoughts 🫶🏻 hopefully I’ll go sometimes next week I want to wait a bit bc it’s payday / week and I know any and every place out there is going to be jam packed
Oooh that’s interesting!! My sister is the same she likes words of affirmation and it genuinely is so fucking cute how a little compliment can do so much to brighten a persons mood 😭

Mm, yeah it's all pretty difficult. And by all, I mean like. Just finding my place. Let's backtrack a bit and put some context to all these crazy ramblings. I've seen myself as a guy for a while but haven't taken hormones or anything, I dress just.. Neutral at this rate since I haven't gotten myself a new binder in a while. It's just hard to transition and do things by yourself, no reassurance and honestly.. stuff like this makes me feel less connected to the community. Like an outsider, someone who doesn't get what a lot of people discuss because my experience feels way different. I see a lot of white trans people, I'm not white, they don't go through the same exact thing as poc trans people etc etc. So it's hard. Fast forward a bit, I date a girl. Her name is Morgan and she likes me for me, but she's very difficult to love back. Overstepping boundaries, arguments, avoiding arguments. Etc. Like, shit is one of my biggest 2020s regrets and you'd think I'd be more upset about the GPA I got in HS or something. I break up with her after she denied my request for a break up the first time and then after that she's still pseudo-dating me because she feels like it. She still wants to be called pet names and shit so I comply because she's like godzila when she's upset. Guilt trip you and act up type of stuff. This goes on for a while until she decides she no longer is interested in me because I won't get back with her and moves on to dating the 24 year old Canadian she's known for 7 months from Valorant. She doesn't tell me because she wants to manipulate me to stay more because she knows if I know she isn't lonely I will absolutely leave.
Guess what happened? Yeah I left the second I found out. After that she used 4 different numbers to text me 4 different times saying I abandoned her and I was so toxic, that she did everything for me.
Anyways, I don't think I loved her - I think I wanted to help someone I cared about. She wasn't really my type, I don't have a type but it's not like I absolutely was rolling over when spending time with her. She just kept pushing me and stuff. Like, for someone so broken up over a toxic relationship .. you leaped for that other guy not realizing that you're like your narcissistic mother and you're likely chasing him cause he reminds you of a dad you never had. So you'd think you would stop texting my ass whenever you're having a very bad no good type of day.
And now, I'm just bitter that I even wasted my time on you. I do want to love someone but I don't even know if I want it to be a girl. My strongest and healthiest relationship was with a man before you, and honestly you don't understand how much I miss being with someone stably. I think I want to love a guy again, maybe that's what works best for me. I'm sure you wouldn't understand, because I don't think you really love anyone. I think you just like keeping people so you can escape from your reality. I'd rather stew in piss than use someone like that.
So, that's sort of it in a fast way of explaining things.

So what are your feelings about these three things:
1. Godzila vs. Kong movie
2. Final Fantasy VII remake part two coming soon.
3. Monster Hunter movie
1. Indifferent. Never been super into either franchise. But like.... shouldn’t it be extremely one sided? Isn’t Godzilla like... powered by Nuclear Armageddon or something like that? Vs a big angry ape? But whatever I’m probably not gonna see it.
2. Haven’t played any version of Final Fantasy 7, but I have friends who are excited. It looks pretty cool and I’d probably like it if I actually sat down to play it but I just haven’t gotten down to it. ...And like ...how am I supposed to get attached to Aerith if I already know what happens to her? Cause everyone and their grandpa knows that particular spoiler now? She seems like an alright character but if I know she’s gonna get skewered by Supergoth then I’m gonna be keeping her at an emotional arm’s length the whole time because I’m afraid to feel emotions.
3. It looks sorta like the person making it is totally missing the point of the Monster Hunter universe. It looks like any other gritty dirty washed-out serious movie to me. Totally joyless. Totally missing the reason why people love Monster Hunter. ...Of course this might be totally off base and it turns out the commercials were misleading. But I don’t expect so. I have no plans to see it unless I hear that my current judgement is unfounded.
But regardless of my opinions, please, by all means, if you enjoy these things then more power to you.
-TQ

The Road To “Godzilla VS. Kong”, Day Four
(Sorry for the delay on this one, Life proved just a bit too busy the other day to finish it; my “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” review is gonna be pushed back as a result too.  But!  No worries, on we go. ^_^)
KONG: SKULL ISLAND (2017
Tumblr media
Director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts
Writers: Dan Gilroy, Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins
Starring: Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly
youtube
Technically speaking, Gareth Edwards’ “Godzila” from 2014 was the first entry in what is now generally referred to as “The Monsterverse”, an attempt by Warner Bros. Studios and Legendary Pictures to do a Marvel Studios-style series of various interconnected movies (and which, like most such attempts to cash in on that particular trend, hasn’t really panned out; “Godzilla VS. Kong” seems likely to be its grand finale as far as movies are concerned, the only two “names” it had going for it are Godzilla and Kong themselves, and even at its most successful it was never exactly a Powerhouse Franchise).  But the thing is, when that movie was made, the idea of a “Monsterverse” did not yet exist; it was only well after the fact that Legendary and Warner Bros. got the idea to turn a new “Kong” project into the building block of a Shared Universe of their own that they could connect with the 2014 “Godzilla”, with a clear eye on getting to remake one of the most singularly iconic (and profitable) Giant Monster Movies of all time.  As you might guess from that description, however, said “Kong” project also had not originally been intended for such a purpose; it would not be until 2016 that it would be retooled from its original purpose (a prequel to the original “King Kong” titled simply “Skull Island”) into its present form, which goes out of its way to reference Monarch, the monster-tracking Science organization seen over in 2014’s “Godzilla” and which includes a very obviously Marvel-inspired post-credits stinger explicitly tying Kong and Godzilla’s existences together.
The resulting film is fun enough, all things told, but that graft is also really, distractingly obvious.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I wish I knew why I’m not, generally, fonder of “Skull Island” than I am.  It’s not as if, taken as a whole, it does anything especially bad; indeed it does a great deal that is actively good.  Consider, for example, the rather unique choice to make it a Period Piece; that’s decently rare for a Monster Movie as it is (indeed one of the only other examples that springs to mind for me is Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake of “King Kong”, which chose to retain the original’s 1933 setting), and it’s rarer still that the era it chooses to inhabit is an immediately-post-Vietnam 1970’s.  Aesthetically speaking, the movie takes a decent amount of fairly-obvious influence from that most classic of Vietnam-era films, “Apocalypse Now” (a fact that director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was always fairly open about), and it results in some of the movie’s strongest overall imagery (in particular a shot of Kong, cast in stark silhouette, standing against the burning sun on the horizon with a fleet of helicopters approaching him, one of a surprisingly small number of times the movie plays with visual scale to quite the same degree or with quite the same success as “Godzilla” 2014).  It also means the movie is decked out in warm, lush colors that really do bring out all the personality of its Jungle setting in the most compelling way and, given how important the setting is to the film as a whole, that proves key; Skull Island maybe doesn’t become a character in its own right the way the best settings should (too much of our time is spent in fairly indistinct forests especially), but it does manage to feel exciting and unusual in the right ways more often than not.  The “Apocalypse Now” influence also extends to our human cast,  which is sizeable enough here (in terms of major characters we need  to pay attention to played by notable actors, “Skull Island” dwarfs “Godzilla” 2014 by a significant margin) that the framework it provides-a mismatched group defined by various interpersonal/intergenerational tensions trying to make their way through an inhospitable wilderness, ostensibly in search of a lost comrade-is decently necessary.  Though here we already run into one of those aspects of “Skull Island” that doesn’t quite land for me.  Taken as a whole, it sure feels like the human characters here should be decently interesting; certainly, our leads are all much better defined and more engagingly performed than Ford Brody, to draw the most immediately obvious point of comparison.  Brie Larson (as journalistic Anti-War photographer Mason Weaver), Tom Hiddleston (as former British Army officer turned Gun For Hire James Conrad), and John C. Reilly (as Hank Marlow, a World War II soldier stranded on Skull Island years ago) definitely turn in decently strong performances; I wouldn’t call it Career Best work for any of them (Hiddleston especially feels like he’s on auto-pilot half the time, while Larson has to struggle mightily against how little the script actually gives her to work with when you stop and look at it) but they at least prove decently enjoyable to watch (Reilly especially does a solid job of making his character funny without quite pushing him over the edge into Total Cartoon Territory).  I likewise feel like Samuel L. Jackson’s Preston Packard has the potential to be a genuinely-great character; his lingering resentment at the way the Vietnam War played out and the way that feeds into his determination to find and defeat Kong is, again, a clever and compelling use of the 70’s period setting, it gives us a good, believable motivation with a clear and strong Arc to it, and Jackson does a really solid job of playing his Anger as genuine and poignant rather than simply petulant or crazed.  But there’s just too much chaff amongst the wheat, too much time and energy devoted to characters and ideas that don’t have any real pay-off.  This feels especially true of John Goodman’s Bill Randa, the Monarch scientist who arranges the whole expedition; the Monarch stuff in general mostly feels out of place, but Randa in particular gets all of these little notes and beats that seem meant to go somewhere and then just kind of don’t.  Which is kind of what happens with most of the characters in the movie, is the thing; we spend a lot of screen-time dwelling on certain aspects of their backstories or personalities, and then those things effectively stop mattering at all after a certain point, even Packard’s motivations.  A Weak Human Element was one of the problems in “Godzilla” 2014 as well, though, and you’ll recall I quite liked that movie.  There, though, the human stuff was honestly only ever important for how it fed into the monster stuff; it was the connective tissue meant to get us from sequence to sequence and not much more.  Here, though, it forms the heart and soul of the story, and that means its deficiencies feel a lot more harmful to the whole.
Still, those deficiencies really aren’t that severe, and moreover, like I was saying before, there’s a lot about “Skull Island” to actively enjoy.  The Monsters themselves do remain the central draw, after all, and for the most part the movie does a solid job with that aspect of things.  It does not, perhaps, recreate “Godzilla” 2014’s attempt to make believable animals out of them (even as it does design most of them with even more obvious, overt Real World Animal elements), but there is a certain playful energy that informs them at a conceptual level that I appreciate.  Buffalos with horns that look like giant logs with huge strands of moss and grass hanging off their edges, spiders whose legs are adapted to look like tree trunks, stick bugs so big that their camouflage makes them look like fallen trees…the designs feel physically plausible (especially thanks to some strong effects work that makes them feel well inserted into the real environments), but there’s a slightly-humorous tilt to a lot of them that I appreciate, especially since it never outright winks at the audience in a way that would undercut the stakes of the story. Kong too is very well done; rather than the heavily realistic approach taken by the Peter Jackson version from 2005, this Kong is instead very much ape-like but also very clearly his own creature (in particular he stands fully erect most of the time), with a strong sense of Personality to him as well; some of the best parts of the movie are those times where we simply peek in on Kong simply living his life, even when that life is one that is, by nature, violent and dangerous.  Less successful, sadly, are his nemeses, the Skullcrawlers; very much like “Godzilla” 2014, Kong is here envisioned as a Natural Protection against a potentially-dangerous species that threatens humanity (or in this case the Iwi Tribe who live on Skull Island, but we’ll talk more about them later), and while they’re hardly bad designs (the way their snake-like lower bodies give them a lot of neat tricks to play against their enemies in battle are genuinely fun in the right sort of Scary Way), they’re also pretty bland and forgettable, even compared to the MUTOS.  That said, they serve their purpose well enough, and their big Action Scene showdowns with Kong are genuinely solid.  Indeed, the movie’s big climactic brawl between Kong and the biggest of the Skullcrawlers has a lot of good pulpy energy to it (particularly with how Kong winds up using various tools picked up from all around the battlefield to give himself an edge), likewise there’s a certain Wild Fun to the sequence where our hapless humans have to try and survive a trek through the Crawlers’ home-turf.
Where things get a bit tricky again is when the movie attempts to put its own spin on “Godzilla”’s conception of its monsters as part of their own kind of unique ancient eco-system. The sense of Grandeur that gave a lot of that aspect such weight there is mostly absent here, especially; there are instances where some of that feeling comes through (Kong’s interactions with some of the non-Crawler species, for example, do a good job giving us an endearing sense of how Kong fits into this world), but far more often it treats the monsters as Big Set-Piece Attractions.  Which is fine as far as it goes, it just also means a lot of them aren’t as memorable or impactful as I might like.  Meanwhile, the way the Iwis have built their home to accommodate, interact with, and protect themselves from the island’s bestiary feels like a well-designed concept that manages to suggest a lot of History without having to spell it out for us in a way that I appreciated (I would also be inclined to apply this to the very neat multi-layered stone-art used to portray Kong and the Crawlers except that the sequence where we see them is the most overt “let’s stop and do some world-building” exposition dump in the whole movie).  But the Iwis in general are one of the more difficult elements of the movie to process, too; it seems really clear there was a deliberate effort here to avoid the most grossly racist stuff that has been present in prior attempts to portray the Natives of Skull Island, and as far as it goes I do think those efforts bear some fruit; we are, at the very least, very far away from the Scary Ooga-Booga tone of, say, “King Kong VS. Godzilla”, and that feels like it counts for something.  I just also feel like there’s some dehumanizing touches to their portrayal (in particular they never speak; I don’t mean to imply that Not Speaking equals Inhuman, but the fact that we are not made privy to how exactly they do communicate means we’re very much kept at arm’s length from them in a way that seems at least somewhat meant to alienate us from them), especially given their role in the story as a whole is relatively minor.
At the end of the day, though, all the movie’s elements, good and bad, don’t really feel like they add up together coherently enough to make an impact.  And I think if I had to try and guess why, even as I find it wholly enjoyable with a lot to genuinely recommend it by, I don’t find myself especially enamored by “Skull Island”.  It has a lot of different ideas of how to approach its story-70’s pastiche, worldbuilding exercise, Monster Mash-but doesn’t seem to quite succeed at realizing any of them fully, indeed often allowing them to get in each other’s ways.  It isn’t, again, a bad movie as a result of that; there really isn’t any stretch of it where I found myself bored or particularly unentertained.  But I did paradoxically find myself frequently wanting more, even as by rights the movie delivers on basically what I was looking for from it.

Because all these conflicting dimensions begin to destroy Brooklyn, Miles must help others stop Fisk and return everyone to their own dimensions. the industry’s biggest impact is on the DVD industry, which effectively met its destruction by mass popularizing online content. The emergence of streaming media has caused the fall of y DVD rental companies such as Blockbuster. In July (2021), an article from the New York Times published an article about Netflix DVD, No ches Frida 2s. It was stated that Netflix was continuing their DVD No. No Frida 2s with 5.3 million customers, which was a significant decrease from the previous year. On the other hand, their streaming, No ches Frida 2s, has 65 million members. In a March (2021) study that assessed “The Impact of movies of Streaming on Traditional DVD Movie Rentals” it was found that respondents did not buy DVD movies nearly as much, if ever, because streaming had taken over the market. So we get more space adventures, more original story material and more about what will make this 21st MCU movie different from the previous 20 MCU films.
Watch Final Space Season 2 — Movie 6, viewers don’t consider the quality of movies to differ significantly between DVDs and online streaming. Problems that according to respondents need to be improved by streaming movies including fast forwarding or rewinding functions, and search functions. This article highlights that streaming quality movies as an industry will only increase in time, because advertising revenues continue to soar on an annual basis across industries, providing incentives for the production of quality content.

With its classic and secret beauty, this Californian from Sacramento has won the Summit. He was seen on “21 Jump Street” with Channing Tatum, and “Crazy Amy” by Judd Apatow. And against more prominent actresses like Jennifer Lawrence, Gal Gadot or Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson signed a seven-contract deal with Marvel. There is nothing like that with Watch The Curse of La Llorona Free Online, which is signed mainly by women. And it feels. When he’s not in a combination of full-featured superheroes, Carol Danvers Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) Nirvana as Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) anti-erotic as possible and proves to be very independent. This is even the key to his strength: if the super hero is so unique, we are told, it is thanks to his ability since childhood, despite being ridiculed masculine, to stand alone. Too bad it’s not enough to make a film that stands up completely … Errors in scenarios and realization are complicated and impossible to be inspired. There is no sequence of actions that are truly shocking and actress Brie Larson failed to make her character charming. Spending his time displaying scorn and ridicule, his courageous attitude continually weakens empathy and prevents the audience from shuddering at the danger and changes facing the hero. Too bad, because the tape offers very good things to the person including the red cat and young Nick Fury and both eyes (the film took place in the 1990s). In this case, if Samuel Jackson’s rejuvenation by digital technology is impressive, the illusion is only for his face. Once the actor moves or starts the sequence of actions, the stiffness of his movements is clear and reminds of his true age. Details but it shows that digital is fortunately still at a limit. As for Goose, the cat, we will not say more about his role not to “express”. Already the 21st film for stable Marvel Cinema was launched 10 years ago, and while waiting for the sequel to The 100 Season 6 Movie war infinity (The 100 Season 6 Movie, released April 24 home), this new work is a suitable drink but struggles to hold back for the body and to be really refreshing. Let’s hope that following the adventures of the strongest heroes, Marvel aged to increase levels and prove better.

That post gets me riled up cause like...70% of the notes are "hmm because Anmerican bombed jappan!!?" 20% are "gOdzILA repReEsENts AmERica" and 10% are "lol the Japanese deserved it" which are all... Really broad, uninformed answers to really complex questions.
I love discussing this topic, but unfortunately this is Tumblr, where reading comprehension is so desperately lacking. I'd rather not type a big post only for someone who has no real interest in the genre to crop up and say "oh so you think Japan deserved the atomic bombings" even though nothing I wrote would suggest that.
And it would happen. I've seen it.
That said, if you'd like to discuss my passions, hmu. I love this lizard stuff.

Out of all the Godzilla movies, including the ones that have a butt load of cheese, which ones are your favorite?
Haha, well I haven’t gotten to taste all of the cheese, yet. Still need to get though a bunch of Showa Era films. But, yeah I do have quite a few favorites, more that I can list! But I can mention a few top favorites of the classic films!
Honestly, Godzilla 1998 was pretty much my introduction into Godzilla. Memory is fuzzy but I’m pretty sure I saw that movie before I saw Godzilla 1954 in its entire. Up until then, I’d only seen glimpses and clips. Godzilla movies just weren’t as available back then as they are now. So I never had the experience of ‘98 Godzilla being strange, then and now I still love the big lizard and the movie, doofy as it is, it’s part of my childhood and is still one of my favorite movies!!! Godzilla 1954 of course is the best, the timeless classic, nothing can top it. But for the rest of the films...
I really love Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 because of BABY! Baby Godzilla in that movie...oh he was so cute, and some parts actually made me cry! Fire Rodan was amazing, and Godzilla being awesome as usual and pushing over Mechagodzilla like a tin toy. lol
Godzilla vs Destroyah was an emotional roller coaster, and seeing Junior all grown up was so good...but the ending. Wow...I cried. [I can never forgive that abomination!!!!]
Godzilla vs Biollante is intriguing and sad, so...so tragic and had some really jaw dropping moments. The fore-gleam to Godzila’s return and then his actual entrance coming out of the volcano was just....awesome! But I was really fascinated by the unique story and learning Biollante was a tragic character despite her horrifying appearance.
The Kiryu saga is definitely my favorite arc of the Millennium era! Both Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS! I really thought GMK was interesting but Godzilla was just too terrifying...OAO though Shin will always be the most nightmarish of all! I can’t hardly look at him omg...O___O NIGHTMARES
But honestly, the one I’ve watched more than any other has to be Godzilla 2014. Until KOTM came out, Godzilla 2014 is probably my most watched Godzilla movie out of all of the films! I love the darkness, the mystery, the MUTOs, the build-up to Godzilla’s reveal, the monster fights, the helplessness the human characters face, Joe Brody’s epic dialogue, the soundtrack, the entire plane jump scene, the MUTOs sounds, everything...! Though Godzilla King of the Monsters 2019 will probably end up as my new top favorite, since it spawned this whole jump into the deep end of the Godzilla fandom!!!

Short answer: The Exorcist (1973)
Long answer: When I was a kid, I was afraid of A LOT OF THINGS! Anxiety, depression, and autism will do that to you I guess. I would get freaked out by the mere mention of ghosts, and What's New Scooby-Doo was my favorite show but some episodes I had to look away because they scared me so bad. One episode with a Smart House trying to kill everyone that laughed so creepyoly, another with Shaggy turning into godzila with werewolf rules (i made my older brother skip that episode entirely, the thought of something huge chasing you was so terrifying to me), and one opening where people were people were trapped in a pyramid with walls closeing in and they got sucked INTO THE WALLS. My mom still makes fun of me for it. Anyway, when I was like 10 or 12 I was in a stage where I wasn't scared of those things anymore, but also wanted to be scared. So I hard that the 1973 movie The Exorcist was apparently "the scariest movie of all time" so I watched it, home alone, in the dark. I laughed through most of it. It was probably a combination between "those effects are so fake!" and "Haha little girl says the C word in a deep voice lol". Afterwards I guess I was like "you know, if I watched tHe sCaRiEsT MoViE Of aLl tImE and wasn't phase, I CAN WATCH ANYTHING!" Then came Paranormal Activity movies, the Insidious movies, the Conjuring universe, the Halloween movies, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Blair Witch Project and even the SAW movies. I can always tell when jumpscares are going to pop up so they don't phase me at all. There's only been a handful of horror movies that genuinely scared me in the sense that that they stuck with me. Like The Shinning, Lights Out, Mama (I sobbed like a baby at the end), Brightburn, Hereditary, Don't Breathe, Us, Mother!
queer people please rb this and tell me what is YOUR piece of horror media that fundamentally changed u as a person mine is the lost boys (1987)

ALIIEEEENZZZ!! in anime (A very, very confused rant about a anime and “power relations” tropes between humans and aliens)
So I just finished watching Planet With and it was sort of interesting, it cannot be said that it has the best story, soundtrack or graphic arts (be it animation, character design, backgrounds, etc) but certainly interesting because it got me thinking about how aliens are depicted in anime compared to other media.
Planet With:
If you do not know what anime show I am talking about, Planet With is a science fiction series that is about a alien boy with amnesia and a big cat that eats the eats the boy and then transforms into a neko-mecha… oh yeah and there is also a vegetarian maid.
Fig 1.- The main characters of the anime Planet With
I will try to make this as spoilers-free as possible but in interest of this post I find it sadly inolvidable to talk about the aliens in this anime… By the way, this is your last spoiler warning: 3, 2, 1…
The main conflict in Planet With has to do with the evolutionary stage of telepathy, when a species begins to become psychically sensitive there two main evolutionary paths that can be taken by the collective and individuals of the species: evolving for love or evolving for power. Nebula, a collective of various and diverse alien species and races have evolved via the path of love but have seen what has happened to those who chose the evolutionary path for power which results in a “dragon”, Nebula tends to be a little bit jumpy about dragons because once upon a time there was a very big galactic dragon that did the minor naughty sin of GENOCIDE OF AN ENTIRE PLANET.
When the humans start evolving into telepaths, Nebula cannot help but notice that the humans are following the evolutionary path of power and it is from here where the interaction between Nebula and Humanity begins. Typically at this stage the story will present the aliens as something completely negative, since most story that talk about opposing ideals and ideologies display the conflict in a reductive manner, one sad being common sense and the other simply bad, mad, and silly (An example of this would be Thanos plan to solve all of the universes problem in the film Avengers Infinity War). Surprisingly Planet With presents the aliens and their meddling in human affairs with quite some nuanced:
Fig.2.- Examples of the “bizarre taste” of the aliens
1.- The political splintering of a alien polis because of a mutual problem:
Nebula is in essence a pacifist civilization, they believe in diplomacy, collectivism and love (You can see this reflected in their bizzare taste), it makes sense that their “arch enemy” is the dragon, which is a being of pure empowerment of the individual but crazed with his own sense of justice fueled by individualism. Despite all of the positive aspects it has to be said that Nebula has been traumatized by the actions of the Dragon and this results in desperate and extreme conclusions when it comes to a possible new dragon (This coming from the new human telepaths). This results in the sealing faction (being led by a big white dog) which concludes that the humans have to have their evolution sealed (this means trapping the entire human species into a eternal dream state where all of their ambitions and fantasies are satisfied, killing their ambition and wish to grow, connect and evolve), but there are those that believe that being this extreme is aggressive and hypocritical of a civilization that claims to have evolved from love, these are the pacifist faction (who are led by a big blue cat).
2.- The position of each faction of Nebula is clear and honest:
What I love about the political conflict is that it is obvious that the two alien factions are annoyed by their political opponents but they do not use pseudo-over the top-unnecessary-philosophy to justify their position or criticize the other one, in fact the sealing faction is able to convince some humans to help them because of past events that gives them some credibility (the same can be said about the pacifist faction).
Fig.3.- Leaders of the two Nebula factions (Left: pacifist faction; Right: sealing faction)
3.- The problem of a “intervention of a foreign power” is addressed
Of course, the series those conclude that one of the factions is wrong and the other is right and this would be a “black and white” situation but this anime is self aware of the political context of its story. One of the human telepaths (the most powerful of them) has some extreme political ideas about individualism but does make a good criticism about Nebula when he is fighting against the sealing faction: “You are imposing forcefully your values onto us, how is that not a invasion?” This is a fair criticism, since one must ask as a citizen of a nation that decides to get involved in a different countries conflict “Why do we intervene into others problems? Are we justified in doing so? Does our actions reflect what we claim are our good willed intentions?” We can see these questions revealing certain military interventions in our reality being not only problematic but tragic (You may pick any of the United States wars against terror/evil/danger). But in the anime I would personally say that the intervention of Nebula (in the context of the complete story) is not only necessary but is actually beneficial to the human species because, you know: diversity.
One last thing I wish to clarify about the multiple conflicts and interactions between the Nebula factions and the human species is that it is not a battle of opposing ideologies or the nationalistic supremacy of any of the sides, because in the end of the day all of the characters (except for the dragon) want the best for humanity but simply disagree what is actually the best; I will admit, this is a not only a optimistic but a ideal (even utopian) political situacion, it kinda of gives me a weird Star Treky vibe. And I really appreciate that, since this kind of depiction of the political + social relationship between aliens and humans in a anime is actually quite rare. How rare? Well I am glad you ask because I made a list!
I would argue that most relationships between aliens and humans in media is one of power, be it technological, physical, social, spiritual, or the capacity of one market to commodify almost anything. Unless it is a situation where the humans and aliens are sort of equals in terms of power (and even if this is the case…),  typically the relationship will result in one group abusing the other; be it a invading them, eating them, exterminating them, changing them or commodifying the population (be this slavery, food stock or tokenism). This tendencies is related to what aliens usually represent in media: the other, the unknown, the powerful, the grand administrator, the madness, the colonist or the colonized. The list that will be presented below is based on this argument of mine (This list is composed mostly of anime that I have watched, so no this list does not contain all anime that depicts hostile aliens):
Some anime that depicts Hostile alien tropes (Includes Spoilers):
