“Here we go,” Ramon says proudly, calling attention back to himself as flames rise up from the grill to meet him. “Now she’s cooking.”

Buck lets out a low, impressed whistle, but Eddie hops back to his feet and right to his father’s side with urgency.

“Should the flames be that high?”

Before Ramon can answer, Adriana, Eddie’s youngest sister, pipes up from across the table.

“Hey, Buck. Why don’t you give dad a hand with the flames? Seeing as you’re a firefighter and all.”

“Hey,” Eddie yaps. “I’m a firefighter.”

“Yeah.” Adriana wrinkles her nose. “But, he’s more…” She flexes her bicep a couple times… “You know?”

Like just before Colin Bridgerton was on his knees after outrunning her carriage to profess how he can't stop thinking about her in his love me, choose me, I'm yours speech, Debling did the Regency equivalent of calling her a floozy who would undoubtedly cheat on him when he abandoned her for several years to chase his passions (because she would never be one of said passions since she asked outright if he could ever come to care for her and he went 'hmmmm seems unlikely! good thing you have solitary hobbies to occupy you instead!') when he has been given 0 evidence of such other than realizing she liked to look out the window because she had a crush on the boy across the street. I was ready to challenge that man to a duel for Pen's honor

His feelings for her were middling at best, I mean Christ on a Pogostick, after he asked her mum for permission to propose he isn't even happy when he opens the door and Pen is there? She's looking like a snack- nay, a whole ass MEAL, and he can't even smile? He just nods at her and dips the fuck out? You don't think it would kill Penelope to know that both her sisters have husbands who absolutely adore them and she's out here with an absent dude who likely won't even write to her?

Portia's 'Love is make believe!' speech is so transparently full of shit when you realize that we've got Dankworth who is so obsessed with Prudence that he makes heart eyes at her every waking moment and considers her his little bonbon and Albion who loves Phillipa so much that he was waiting for her to consent to sex (not realizing she didn't know what it was) for two entire years because he would never pressure her and so he was content with finishing in his pants when he kissed her to make sure she was comfortable. And you want Penelope to settle for a life of loneliness? When Colin is so besotted with her that he dreams of her and breaks every societal expectation in the book as a notorious People Pleaser to run after her and cannot even wait for the morning after being intimate with her to introduce her as his wife to his family in the middle of the night? You want her to turn down Mr "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible" Bridgerton? For LORD PENGUIN?

Any thoughts on BSD winning anime of the year?

good for us ig but compared to jjk s2 and aot finale i'm literally shocked and quite frankly feel it was undeserved. mappa worked their ass off this entire year w csm and jjk s2 not to mention the last two episodes of aot and either of those deserved the number one spot over bsd 100%.................this has nothing to do with my personal vendetta against studio bones btw i just feel like mappa solos in every way w their animation and art style and esp their anime adaptations (more than i can say abt bones)

Wow it’s been almost a year since I posted here 😭

Took a bit of a hiatus from posting bc quite frankly… I’m tired lol

There’s so many socials to keep up with, work, being perceived is annoying, rebranding, trying to figure out how to have fun and be professional online at the same time has been a headache, finding energy to draw, deciding when and what to post, Instagram has the whole AI shit going on, PLUS life/adulting stuff (hey wtf is a 401k), the state of the world is driving me bonkers, aaaaGHHH it’s so much.

BUT, despite all that, I wanna tell stories and I wanna get back to just… making stuff without feeling like I have to perform in order to get a job, keep a job, and be hire-able 😅

So yeah, for those still following, thanks for sticking around! I’m still figuring out who I am as a story teller and artist in general but tbh, I think I’ll be doing that until I’m dead, so…

ANYWAY, YEAH ART!! I’m gonna continue posting my old story stuff from last year that I didn’t cross post here yet and THEN I’d like to start (for real this time) posting stuff from my sketchbook and future stories I wanna work on! I really wanna show my process and just be more candid here but in a more ✨structured✨ way if that makes sense

Books of 2024: WHEN AMONG CROWS by Veronica Roth.

I finished this last night! It's a shortie (only 166 pages!), and the first thing I've read by Roth since DIVERGENT. Since I didn't vibe with that one, I tried not to be overly optimistic about this one, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it--it was a great little bite-sized modern urban fantasy set in Chicago that draws on Polish folklore.

Cool magic system(s), cool monsters, cool underground boxing ring featuring said cool monsters and cool magic, thoughtfully drawn characters (Dymitr and Ala and Niko, my beloveds,), complicated Sibling and Family Relationships, a little bit gay, VERY bloody (featuring ah. fingernails. and. spines.), an emotional gut punch at the end, and y'know the more I list here the more I think I like it?? She (Roth) also acknowledges Witcher in her post-book shout-outs, which. yeah. If you like Witcher, I think this is worth checking out!

it's sincerely SO amusing to me that both times we've been at the Tripotentiary mansion, formerly the Consector's mansion, during Weepe's residence, it's mentioned Spahr used to live here. i hope it continues to happen, just do it every single time we're there.

i genuinely love the narrators take every opportunity to remind us that Spahr lived in this place before he got kicked out, but they still haven't told us where he lives now. absolute best choices.
