The fact that Libby's imagination song sequence about her dad includes her mother and specifically has Leah saying "maybe he's changed"...
Libby didn't just want her dad back in her life - she wanted all three of them to be a family again...

Libbyâs mom deserves so much credit for this. She knew what Matias was like, but she didnât want to let her girl down herself. She allowed Libby to reunite with her father, knowing what will likely happen, but also knowing that she has raised a strong daughter who can handle disappointment and the facts of life in general. God, sheâs the kind of mom we all deserve.
Leah is such a fantastic well written single mom character and this episode made that 10 times more clear.

wait wait wait, what about "Like Father, Like Libby"?? What are your thoughts on THAT dad episode? Especially bc what you said about alador. I cried đ
^ me at that sleazy Matias
This is one of those moments where I meant in my other post TGaMM does a good job of balancing humour with serious tones, but evidently not making it a cheapened moment. Libby is a great character who has visibly grown out of her shell thanks to Molly's influence, and when we see her be passionate we can see/relate to a lot of aspects of her child-like glee. Granted, she is still a kid, but the way her excitement of lost time/potential takes hold of her here in this episode is even something Leah was surprised by. Which makes it very real and relatable!
To briefly pull away from the focus of the episode, I loved the B plot with Molly and Scratch because of the gags and one-liners. One of my favourite tropes in fiction, especially in sitcom series, is a character who is suddenly doing crosswords for the entirety of the episode which basically tees up punchlines and gags. I don't care if it's cheesy, I always find it hilarious. It's a simple way to set up jokes, but TGaMM did great with their deliveries and had me and my sister cackling.
Which is good! As undercutting serious tension can be needed to add levity. I feel as though if I had watched this episode as a kid, a lot of Leah's behaviours would've gone over my head then. But as I am now, seeing how she is, having moments of laughter adds great balance to the main story. And additionally, more moments of Libby and Molly's BFF nature is great: the fact that she knew Molly already messed up but was just playing it off just goes to show how well she knows her friend (I headcanon she asked Molly to put Simon on the phone just to troll her).
Now, the dad.
I love that Leah wasn't disheartened or jealous with Libby's sudden affection for her father. She had discomfort, but mainly because she knows what kind of man Matias really is. Seeing how she subtly places herself in support of her daughter throughout the entire is a great detail in how she is the parent that stayed and truly loved Libby, but also that Libby is aware of her mom's presence. As when the moment happens, she immediately knows she can rely on her mom again.
She just misses her dad.
And that, is wonderful storytelling in the way that not even Libby was aware how much she wanted her father in her life until the opportunity presented itself. I don't think she wanted to become a writer because of him, but I bet that had a small influence in her outlet with her poetry and such. Much of his lack of presence takes a toll and is finally let loose here, which enhances Libby's expectations. She asks her mother if his personality is basically anything like the stereotypical dads she's no doubt read/heard about.
Though I believe even Libby started to suspect something at the moment she met him too, as when her dad gave her a signed copy it felt like she recognized his signature was more general than personalized for her. Seeing that after all the expectations and build up, he turns out to be exactly as Leah suspected, was a gut punch but also very raw. Letting Libby soak in her moment for a bit was nice, but having her come out of it and recognize her mother's value in her life made it all the better.
All in all, a great episode and definitely up there in my top five faves so far.
(P.S.: Matias book series is gonna flop, what kind of publisher decides to make a book into a trilogy after a book is released?)
Until next ask,
- Bleh

After watching the episode "Like Father Like Libby", I can no longer listen to the musical number that is in that episode.
It's just hard to look at the fantasy that Libby created in her head about her father without thinking about what happened at the end.
I have the same problem with "Love is An Open Door" from Frozen, I just can't listen to that song after the twist reveal of who Hans really is.

New Tgamm episodes are good. All Shark No Bite and Nin-dependence were fun, and Dance Dad Revolution was okay. Like Father Like Libby, however, was heartbreaking. It's up there as one of my favorite episodes. The plot, the jokes, Libby's song. Everything in the episode was top tier. For some reason, the tgamm team just decides to put their all into Libby-centric episodes.

Three brave women beat up a shopkeeper in islamic republic of Pakistan for harassing them and all the Pakistani men are so pissed off that theyâre sending death threats to those women for taking action in their own hands instead of tolerating and calling some male authority or police. That piece of shit also filed a case against those women for abusing him and as a citizen of this trash country, i can tell he will win the case.
A 20 years old girl, Sania Zehra, was brutally tortured, raped and murdered by her husband, syed ali raza bukhari, when she was pregnant with her third child. This also happened in Pakistan on 8th of July. Now the same men are silent over this or trying to shove the issue of Palestine on feminist pages posting about Saniaâs case because "far worst things are happening in the world". Meanwhile, Pakistani women are busy dick worshipping the victimâs father because "he must be so traumatised after losing his daughter like this. oh poor man!" As if that bitch isnât at fault for making her daughter marry that old beast when she was probably 16.
Celebrities here are more concerned about menâs deteriorating mental health in this country as these lunatics think catering to menâs feelings will somehow fix them. What else can you expect from them when the entire world outside has progressed, but these dumbfucks are still portraying the same old cringe fairytale stories where a simple beautiful, but unfortunate girl falls in love with some ugly psychotic man and tolerates his abuse because "thatâs true love đ" and in the end, sheâs successful in fixing him.
But when we speak a word against the atrocities women face in this country, all these people lose their minds and try to silence us to ensure the image of their fuckin country is not at risk of defamation and the lovely Pakistan can become an example of how peaceful islam is. Pakistani men (and most women here as well) are intolerant when it comes to the vilification of the image of their country and religion. And their asses start burning when they see someone ruining it. They even stoop so low to the level of satanism that they would not hesitate to send death threats to anyone making them look bad globally. A girl i was friends with on FB wished Malala another gunshot on her face by Taliban because of her anti-marriage stance.
This is why i urge yâall to please donât stay silent on the issues women are facing in Pakistan. I never see global feminist pages talking about female oppression in this garbage country. Some feminists living in west also act like brown men are somehow better than white men and theyâre more oppressed than white women because of racism, or that muslim men are better than christian bigots. Stop victimising brown muslim men. Not only are they hideous but also the misogyny the south asian society has shoved in their assholes is extremely disgusting and they keep shitting it on women everywhere they go, including white women.
I wouldnât expect support from brainless libby feminists as theyâre probably busy pulling their pants down on their favourite OF platforms or fighting misandry online, but i would love to see all the radfems speaking up for south asian women. Please make it known globally how the Pakistani islamic community is constantly oppressing women day by day.
Use the examples i stated above. Speak up for Sania Zehra!! Demand justice for her globally, and keep bashing corrupt Pakistani law system. Also, donât forget to defame their religion. These people are most protective of their culture and religion. I donât see any hope in this country for women, but thereâs a chance they will start taking action and give proper justice to the victims in order to protect their so called dignity.

Libby and absent parenting
One of the most recent episodes from Season 2 ¨Like Father, Like Libby¨ explored Libbyâs relationship with her father, Matias, who hasnât seen Libby for years because ¨he has been too busy travelling to write his novel¨. Of course, it is easy to realize that this isnât the case: Matias is an absent father and he isnât interested in being involved in his daughterâs life. The theme of this episode is exploring Libbyâs ilusion to see her father again and wishing to spend time with him, something that eventually is shattered when her expectations donât meet with reality.
Matias is never mentioned in Season 1 by neither Libby nor Leah, Libbyâs mother. When Libby talked about the people that were important to her Bat Mitzvah (Episode-Mazel Tov, Libby!), Libby never mentioned Matias once, only Leah and Molly. This already hinted how absent he was in Libbyâs life, to the point he was never brought up to Molly nor Scratch.
At the start of the episode when Libby gets her Bat Mitzvah gift months after the celebration, one can tell that there are some red flags: The gift was sent several months after Libbyâs Bat Mitzvah, the price of the gift is only one dollar and the plush isnât even something a turtle, it is a frog. Molly quickly realizes that something is off from this gift but keeps it to herself since Libby is very happy to learn that Matias wants to meet her in person after years of not seeing her. Molly doesnât know enough about Libbyâs father neither to give a full opinion on him because it is something that she doesnât ask Libby about. She still brings up to Libby that she can talk about Matias anytime, without pressuring to explain her situation and respecting her privacy.
Libby shows Leah the letter she received from her father. Leahâs very hesitant in doing such a long trip to see Matias. However, she sees that Libby is very excited about the idea of seeing him again, so, Leah decides to support Libby by taking her to the place she is supposed to meet with Matias.
Throughout the episode we see Leahâs struggle between supporting her daughter and trying to be honest with her about how Matias doesnât really care about her. She doesnât want to fully break Libbyâs illusion since she knows that this is important for her but, at the same time, she warns Libby about not raising her expectations too high and explaining that Matias isnât that good as she think she is.
Despite of her dislike for Matias, Leah is very considerate in not making Libby hate him. She understands that Libby is entitled to see her father and trying to reconnect with him, even he doesnât feel the same way about Libby. Lea still warns her a few times, for her to get that maybe things arenât going to turn out the way she wants and reassures her that she is there for her.
What is so devastating about this episode is how Libby acts very accurately like a kid with absent parent/s would. She makes up excuses why Matias hasnât seen her all these years- he is too busy writing his novel. She genuinely wants to believe that he cares about her and, that once she meets him again, they are going to spend time together and he is going to be involved in her life. Itâs a very sad situation to see, because Libby still doesnât come to terms with the type of parent that Matias is. She wants to believe that he has changed or that he is only busy. She has a whole song sequence imagining all the things that they are both going to do together. She thinks that her parents are going to get back together.
However... there is a part of her that tells her that Matias doesnât care about her and he is ¨gone¨. This means that she is partially aware of her fatherâs behaviour but, like any kid who has neglectful parents, she wants to believe that this isnât true, that Matias is a ¨good father¨.Â
Libbyâs abandonment issues and the overall impact of having an absent father being explored in this episode puts some scenes from previous episodes in context. The biggest example of this is ¨Friend-Off¨ where we see Scratch and Libbyâs competing over who is Mollyâs ¨Best Friend¨. While Libbyâs insecurities in ¨Friend-Off¨ could come from her lacking friends before meeting Molly, knowing that she has a negletful father puts her animosity and treatment towards Scratch during the episode in perspective. She is scared of losing Molly as a friend or not being good enough for her. There are moments she thinks that the curse Molly and Scratch shared made their bond closer than her with Molly.
Back to ¨Like Father, Like Libby¨, when Libby finally meets Matias, she is very happy to see him again but it doesnât take her less than a minute to notice that he isnât paying attention to her. She shows to him a book she wrote, something that she mentioned in multiple letters she send to him. Matias doesnât seem to be aware of this, implying he didnât read those said letters. He only takes a photo with Libbyâs book to make himself look like a good father in social media.
Libby talks to him about all the things that they are going to do now that they are together only to be interrupted by Matias telling her that he is going to be ¨too busy¨ writing his book trilogy. This is the moment Libbyâs illusion crashes and she is forced to face the fact that her father doesnât care about her and doesnât want to spend time with her. She quickly runs and gets into the car, crying by realizing that Matias doesnât want to stick around.
Leah comforts Libby by telling her that she is her ¨miracle¨ and Libby thanks her mother for always being there for her. The two return home, with Libby knowing that Matias isnât worth of her attention and she should focus instead in that people that actually care about her. She gains a lot of appreciation for Leah as well, considering how she took her time to drive two states for Libby to see Matias and how caring and supportive she is.
¨Like Father, Like Libby¨ is an episode that showed up a new side of Libby and her family. It gave more dimension to Leah who, as a single mother, had to raise Libby on her own. It also shows a good potrayal of a teen finally realizing what type of person their parent is and them having to deal with that.

đ˘đ§ đ°đĄđ˘đđĄ ⌠you found babysitting your neighbor samâs daughter much more enjoyable than you anticipated âŚ
⌠⌠from mr. golbach
hi yn, itâs sam. by any chance could you come over and babysit libby for a little bit? possibly until midnight, a work meeting came up. iâd really appreciate it. let me know.
you looked at the message, quickly replying back with a âfor sureâ before packing a small bag. you and sam had been neighbors for almost a year now and you had occasionally helped him out by watching his daughter if he ever needed help.
you walked over toward his house internally looking forward to seeing his daughter again. she was super cute just like how any two year old was. you had also thought about seeing sam too. you didnât really realize it but you had grown really fond of sam.
the way he carried himself always trying to be the best for his daughter. the way he was so polite and respectful towards you. you sighed just thinking about seeing him right now.
you shook away your thoughts as you finally found yourself in front of his door. you put your hair behind your ear moving it out of the way as you knocked on the door.
like lightning speed you saw sam open the door and give you a polite smile. âhey, thank you for coming on short notice.â he moved to the side to let you walk in.
your heart was beating out of your chest. âyeah its no problem. i dont usually work saturdays.â you smiled walking inside his house taking a look around before turning toward sam.
he closed the door behind and escorted you to the living room. âokay so libby is taking a nap right now in her room but she should wake within the next hour or so.â he looked over at the fridge. âtake whatever you need of course. my house is your home.â he licked his bottom lip before scanning you up and down so quickly you doubted if he actually did it.
you gulped before nodding. âthank you.â
he nodded before grabbing his keys and heading toward the door. âyou can always give me a call if anything, alright?â
you set your bag down and nodded watching him walk out of the house, close the door, and lock it.
you sighed thinking about your interaction. yn donât even think about it, heâs a father! you told yourself.
you couldnât help the way your legs felt like jello around him. his mature attitude and pretty face. his sculpted body⌠the way he moved, displaying his muscles and toned lines. the nurturing way he took care of his daughter but then the way he would just call you up so that he could take time for himself at the gym.
you donât know what the case was but that it intrigued you.
you pulled yourself out of your thoughts going to check on libby. she was still asleep so you decided to just sit beside her until she woke.
it was pretty tame the rest of the night. no trouble at all with libby. she woke up and you just played with her the whole time. you always found it easy to entertain her and yourself.
it was about to hit 12 am when you had finally set libby down to sleep and got slightly startled when you heard the front door open. you then relaxed knowing it was sam so you started tidying up libbyâs toys placing them back in her toy box when you felt his presence behind you. âis she asleep?â
you turned around and nodded putting the last of her toys in the box before getting up and switching on the baby monitor. you then tiptoed out of the room and closed the door slightly.
you finally turned to see an exhausted sam with a lazy smile. âthank you so much yn. i donât know what id do without you.â he ran hands through his hair and walked toward the stairs than toward the kitchen.
you waved him off following behind him. âitâs honesty no problem. sheâs an angel.â
he nodded in agreement before glancing at the clock. âiâm back earlier than i thought. wanna stick around for a drink maybe?â his voice wavered but you ignored it. âi could open a bottle of wine if youâd like? seems only fair, youâve been here all evening.â
you hesitated before nodding. âyeah sure, that would be lovely thank you.â
he smiled internally grateful you took him up on his opportunity. he poured two glasses of wine before passing one toward you. you grabbed it thanking him before following to where he was headed.
he strolled to the living room switching on the baby monitor before sitting on the couch and patting the spot beside him.
you sat a good distance away from him feeling a bit nervous. you and sam had never actually taken the time to talk or speak to him in a setting where it was just you two with no rush or no where to be but like lightning speed, the conversation had a flow instantly.
sam started talking about the challenges of being a single parent and how itâs difficult not having a motherly figure there in libbyâs life. you listened intently making sure to make him feel like what he was saying was important because it was.
then, he asked you about your life. about what you like to do, what youâre doing right now, and your future plans. you told him pretty much everything. letting yourself spill every detail because for some reason you felt so safe with sam. you didnât know why but all you knew was that you felt you could tell him anything and he would understand and make you feel heard.
at one point, sam looked at the clock and it had been almost 2 hours of you talking and getting to know each other. âoh shit.. itâs really late.â
you widened your eyes. âoh my gosh â im so sorry. i didnât realize.â you said quietly wondering how has it been that long when it felt so short.
he shook his head laughing. âitâs okay i⌠i havenât talked to someone like â truly had a real conversation in a while. itâs ⌠really nice.â he made direct eye contact with you with a little glimmer in his eyes. his eyes were so beautiful. you felt entranced.
you returned the smile. âiâm really glad because i feel the same way.â you tried not to make your tone sound so⌠in love but you hardly succeeded.
it didnât help that sam had spoken up again bringing you butterflies. âyou know yn, i donât think iâve ever told you this but youâve been such a huge help â more than i think youâre aware of.â
you didnt know if it was because you were slightly tipsy but you swore his drunken eyes looked at your lips for a few seconds. you tried to shake it off speaking faster than your mind could register. âwell, iâm so happy to help, really. i.. i love being with libby and â well, you.â
as soon as you said that you felt stupid. why did you even say that, yn! oh goshâŚ
the room felt still and so quiet. the feel of the room was no longer as it was. it changed. you thought it changed for the worse until sam reached out and tucked your hair behind your ear like you had always had to do. âi like being here with you too.â his voice came out as a whisper. so soft and sultry you were practically drunk on him.
your voice hitched when you saw him move closer. the tension thick and undeniable now. your heart began to race rapidly while the space in between you both was disappearing by the second.
as you both were centimeters away from connecting your lips he spoke up. âi should thank you properly.â he whispered, his left hand on the coach and his right hand making its way toward the side of your face and neck itching to pull you closer. âif youâll allow me of course.â
it was like he was waiting for some confirmation and you quickly obliged. âbe my guest.â the words came out breathlessly.
that was all he needed before he leaned forward closing the distance between you both claiming your lips. it was soft and gentle at first but the longer it went on the more harsh and passionate it became. he was leaning forward practically pushing you down on the couch craving that dominance.
his hands roamed all over your body wanting to memorize everything about you. you couldnât believe what was happening. it was like you were living a fever dream.
as fast as he kissed you, his lips left yours and started trailing toward your cheeks and down your neck. his breathing was heavy as he kept going lifting up your shirt and kissing your stomach.
you grabbed his hair loving the feeling of his warm lips in your skin. he grinned at the rough touch. âkeep doinâ that.â he groaned, moving further and further. âcan i make you feel good? for being so helpful?â
the way he looked up at you with those fuck me eyes had you practically wanting to beg but all you did was nod. âyes⌠yes.â
he licked his lips tugging on the sweats you wore. âmâgonna take of your clothes, mâkay?â you gulped, nodding nervously still mind blown that this was actually happening.
he pulled your sweats off slowly discarding them and tossing the em to the floor before moving to your underwear. he pressed to fingers directly on your center catching you off guard. you jumped with a moan as he kept that pressure there. âso wet.â he whispered through the dark â the only thing lighting up the area was the lamp on the end table behind you giving you a angelic view of samâs face.
he wasted no time pulling the cotton covering hour center to the side and giving you a small kitten lick. your legs instinctively closed around his head feeling that small bit of pleasure. sam loved how you reacted to his touch because it gave him an opportunity to move his hands so that he had to forcefully spread your legs open.
he kept his hands there until he realized heâd have to fully remove your underwear. he tutted, ânow i gotta take this off.. gotta be a good girl for me so i can be the best for you. can you do that?â the tone in his voice making you want to arch your back.
you tugged your underwear down before sam replaced your hands and pulled it down for you. he disregarded them and threw them where he tossed your sweats. finally he was able to nudge your thighs apart your pretty pussy. âcanât wait to taste you.â he muttered getting closer and closer.
you felt his breath as he spoke against your pussy. he then blew air from his mouth on your clit watching how you clenched and bucked your hips up. a little whine escape your perfect lips causing his dick to twitch. âwanted this for so long.â he whispered to himself. you barely registered what he said before he wrapped his lips around your clit using his tongue to gently nudge it in circles.
the grip you had on his hair grew tighter as the pleasure made your thighs slightly shake. he was really good at this.
he kept this up for a good minute bringing you closer and closer to that edge when you saw his hand move from your thigh to your center. he swirled his middle finger in your arousal before smearing it all over your clit and licking it off.
you moaned at the sight scooting yourself further toward him wanting more of his touch. he smiled at how needy youâve become giving you exactly what you wanted but a bit more.
he inserted his finger inside you slowly pumping it in and out while also keeping up his tongue on your clit. you pushed his hair back wanting to see him as he pleasure you. you bit your lip as he pushed another finger into you. ây-yes⌠fuck.â you whimpered, feeling your abdomen tighten. he was doing so good your eyes began to water.
you had become so overwhelmed to the point where you found yourself grinding against his tongue. his hand clenched around your thigh as he picked up the pace of his fingers. âhow bad do you need to cum, baby? God, you taste so good.â
your eyes were furrowing and you fought the urge to close your eyes. âneed it so badâŚâ you pressed your lips, feeling his tongue on your clit become so overstimulating. that rubber band in your stomach desperately wanting to snap. âplease please please.â you moaned repeatedly.
he sucked your clit into his mouth harshly not slowing his fingers down at all, that alone sending you over the edge. âholy shit!â you threw your head back as your orgasm completely crashed into you catching you off guard.
although sam knew you had finally reached your orgasm, he refused to stop his antics. he hadnât had enough of you. he was drunk on you. âcanât stop, jusâ taste so fuckinâ good.â he moved his mouth all over, loving how he had writhing beneath him.
you felt the overstimulation get to you causing those tears to spill. âfuck â too much sam! oh shit âŚâ you tried to push his head away but he gripped your legs open.
the pornographic noises eliciting another orgasm from you. âhurts so fucking good.â you groaned, feeling yourself reaching your next peak.
âcâmon, gimme another one, baby. cum on my tongue.â he groaned against your lower lips.
you shook your head squeezing your eyes shut as his words drove you to that edge. your legs shook and tried closing around his head as you came. you felt hot and dizzy as that wave of ecstasy washed over you. your back arched as you tried pushing away from him.
he had a shit-eating grin on his face as he spoke. âgoood girl.â he talked you through. âthatâs it⌠thatâs it.â he slowed down his actions wanting to smooth the process of you calming down from the orgasm.
after a few seconds, he smiled up at you crawling back up your body. âtell me youâll let me do that againâŚâ he begged. you raised your brows in surprise. âafter i take you to dinner?â he proposed.
you tried to hide your smile failing miserably. âare you saying youâd like to see me outside of babysitting?â
he laughed kissing your neck lightly before pulling away. âbeen wanting to since i saw ya.â
âthat makes me happy to hear.â you grinned.
