Aegon is definitely not OOC. He shows off Jaehaerys like a pet but has no idea what time he should be at lessons. It's been three weeks since his coronation, three weeks since he raped Dyana. He hasn't grown as a person at all. We're just seeing different facets of him but people need to be spoonfed every trait of a character constantly to keep from spilling out of their brain. He appreciates the smallfolk because he's spent so much time drinking and whoring with them, but he has no respect for someone who obviously has more experience than him (Otto) and thinks he has more of an advantage being nice to people who were themselves forced to be nice to him when he was among them because he's a royal. He doesn't treat his mother's counsel with any respect either despite watching her rule the kingdom for years on her own. His weak moment of do you love me was just that, a weak moment. As soon as he gets drunk, he turns into a monster. He's stupid, clever, arrogant, predatory and a host of other things. People just don't think critically enough anymore in fandom.
thank you. thank you. thank you. thank you. thank you. you put it perfectly into words. aegon is just acting like a child who's enjoying the novelty of newfound purpose in life. and like most addicts/abusers, he'll have his high days... then he'll have his LOW days. it's been one episode - we'll see him hit his low, probably even as soon as next episode.
this fandom makes me feel like i'm losing my mind like is it not clear that he's kind of doing a bad job at ruling/parenting? or at least, a very superficial job? is it "ooc" or are you not allowing the writers to portray him in anyway aside from the one dimensional image you already have of him in his head ??
We're just seeing different facets of him but people need to be spoonfed every trait of a character constantly to keep from spilling out of their brain.
genuinely i don't know why people just aren't using context clues anymore. just not thinking. or, holy fuck, just WONDERING? đwhenever a character does something "ooc".... why not WONDER why they're doing it, rather than reacting so shallowly ??? some good writing advice i once saw was "don't ask 'is this action out of character for x', and rather ask, 'what would drive x to do this action'?" people are complex plsss đđđ
also you make an excellent point about aegon aligning himself with smallfolk b/c he was more at home amongst them than with his noble family.
and tbh this is feeling like specifically a hotd issue? every tv show has bad takes but hotd has been genuinely unbearable. i watch other prestige tv or 'layered' shows and people seem to generally have the idea of the characters? succession, interview with the vampire, breaking bad, ozark, etc.
wondering if GOT S6-8 PTSD genuinely has made this fandom lose faith in the writing and they're choosing to take everything so face value now.
#aegon ii targaryen#house of the dragon#hotd critical#i'm not even enjoying the alicole rn but i'm reluctant to say its 'ooc' of either of them#maybe its to highlight their hypocrisy?#maybe its to show them breaking down after a decade of upholding religious propriety?#like damn what if we just wondered for a sec. and wait till the season ends to make judgements#b/c lord knows ppl cant handle waiting multiple seasons for pay off anymore.

Come Over (3/7)
Summary: Youâre new to New York City. Fresh out of post-grad and wanting a change of pace, and this change comes in more ways than one.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!Reader. Neighbor AU.
Warnings for Series: Fluff, angst, pining, the ush! Also, swearing, because nobody ever washed my mouth out with soap.
Notes: So Iâve daydreamed about a neighbor AU for an embarrassing amount of time, and I need something to get my creative juices flowing again. So, ta-da.
Series Masterlist // Main Masterlist
A month into your new life in New York, you feel more settled in. Your apartment doesnât look like a warehouse piled high with boxes, and youâve even spent some of your signing bonus on artwork to hang on the walls and a few plants to bring some life to the space. Youâre even considering getting a cat.
At work, you frequently eat your lunch with not only Wanda and Vis, but the three other women on your floor. Maria, Charlotte, and Sarah are all mothers, so they donât usually attend the girlsâ night out you and Wanda plan every week, but theyâre still pleasant to sit and chat with regardless. Itâs made you feel even more at home at Stark Industries.
Speaking of, Tony is a riot, youâve learned. Youâve come out of your shell a little more with each day you work for him, and itâs mostly in thanks to Tonyâs easy-going personality. Though heâs clearly a workaholic on top of being addicted to caffeine (for anyone else this mightâve been a destructive combination but Tony seems to wield both extremely well), he feels more like a weird brother/father figure than a boss. He keeps most projects secret from you, but occasionally heâll show you a new update or ask for your opinion as a consumer. Youâre honest with him without kissing his ass too much about it.
Since he lives closer, Sam comes over a couple times a week to hang out with you and catch up on your favorite shows. He tries to bring Clint with him most times, but being neck-deep in a new case makes it hard for him to get away to visit. You settle for FaceTiming him during the week even though it isnât the same.
Itâs one of your weekly nights with Sam, who reclines in your new armchair with his feet up and an open beer in his fist. Youâre catching up on Mindhunter with him, relaxed on the couch under a big fluffy blanket with your own beer. In between episodes Sam has been telling you all about the girl heâs been seeing, to which you demand you meet her for approval.
He rolls his eyes and asks, âIsnât that my job?â
You scoff. âYouâre my best friend, Sam, and as my best friend, Iâve got to make youâre taken care of just as much as youâre taking care of her.â
He grumbles under his breath but you can see a slight pinkness to his dark skin that makes you smirk in victory. A few moments of silence and then:
âSo what about you and Neighbor Boy then? Whatâs going on there?â While your smirk drops, his widens. You take a long pull from your beer.
âAbsolutely nothing, Sam.â
He snorts and gestures with his beer. âYou have coffee dates almost every week!â
âHe helps me put furniture together! Thereâs absolutely nothing but friendship there, I assure you.â
A doubtful look characterized by lowering of his eyebrows and pursed lips. A responding eye roll and scrunched up face, a silent donât give me that look.
âWant another?â you ask, needing to busy yourself in order to keep your unusually attractive neighbor out of your head. Throwing the blanket off your lap, you stand up and accept the empty bottle Sam holds out to you.
If he notices that you take a little longer to fetch two more beers, he doesnât say anything when you get back to the couch. He presses âplayâ on the remote and the topic of your neighbor is dropped.
For an hour.
âSo, youâre coming next Sunday for our football party right?â Sam asks.
Once a month during football season, Sam and Clint co-host a party at your brotherâs apartment. You make your five-layer chip dip and Sam brings a massive amount of wings while Clint provides endless beer and a giant wrap-around couch that seats eight. (Youâre still not sure how he fit the damn thing in his apartment.) To antagonize Clint and to make the day a little more fun, you and Sam always show up in your matching Patriots jerseys representing the McCourty twins.
âOf course Iâll be there! I never miss it!â you reply with an incredulous look. Sam holds up his hands.
âHey, just wanted to make sure you didnât have any new furniture that needed assembling that day.â He chortles when you chuck the throw pillow under your hip at him and nail him in the chest. âIâm kidding. Mostly. But, uh, I was gonna say, if you wanted to invite him, you could. Not as a date, donât you throw that bottle! Jesus. Crazy. Just, Clint and I think heâs cool and itâd be cool to have another dude around.â
You watch him for a few moments, see no trace of his earlier teasing, and sigh and relax back into the couch. âIâll think about it, okay?â
âAll I ask.â
Sam, bless him, leaves you be about Bucky for the remainder of your evening together. When heâs gone, your mind canât rest just yet, so you open up a new beer and put on a rerun of CSI. Youâll regret staying up so late in the morning, but for now, you let your mind get sucked into the emotional episode of Warrickâs funeral.
Regret is a bitter bitch, and the next morning it comes in the form of a prominent headache paired with under-eye bags your makeup barely hides. A three-hour binge of CSI definitely wasnât your smartest move considering youâve a fairly important meeting with Tony in about two hours. Hair tied back in a ponytail and makeup...done but slightly unsatisfactory, you slip into a black pencil skirt with a mustard blouse tucked in. Your feet slide into a pair of black pumps and you throw on a jacket to combat the cool October morning.
You know your face shows your exhaustion as you give yourself a final once over, but thereâs not much you can do short of downing copious amounts of coffee. Tote bag slung over your shoulder, you head out of your apartment with a sigh. As youâre locking your door, the one next to yours opens, and Bucky steps out looking ten kinds of delicious in his running gear, tattoos on full display thanks to his tight tank top.
You grunt when he tells you good morning, chuckles good-naturedly until he sees your eyes. Then heâs frowning in concern and youâre almost desperate to do anything to wipe it off. Such a man should not be frowning.
âDid you get any sleep last night?â he asks, falling into step with you towards the elevator. You resist the urge to rub your eyes in order to preserve your makeup.
âNot really. Sam stayed till about ten and then I stayed up a little while longer. Guess I just couldnât fall asleep.â To punctuate your sentence, a long yawn escapes. Bucky stands next to you in the elevator, close enough you can feel the heat radiating from him and itâs wholly distracting. âAnd I have a meeting in a couple hours and Iâm not really sure how Iâm going to get through it without dozing a few hundred times. Know anyone who can hook me up with a caffeine IV?â
He laughs, the sound echoing in the small space, and despite the warmth and your jacket you still suppress a shiver.
âIâm afraid not. Hey, do you have a few minutes? We can go get a cup now, if you want,â he offers, blue eyes boring into yours, and you nod before you can really think about it. His smile brightens up the entire elevator, and then heâs leading you with a hand on your back out into the lobby and finally out onto the street.
He takes you to a place between your apartment building and the subway, stands with his hands in his pockets as you both wait in line. Samâs invite bounces around in your head, your nerves expressing themselves in the form of tapping your fingers on your arms, which are crossed over your chest.
Bucky and you order your respective drinks and he reaches into his pocket for his wallet. Your hand on his arm stops him, has him looking down at you with those depthless blue eyes.
âIâve got it,â you say softly with a small smile. He opens his mouth, no doubt to protest, but you merely hand over some cash to the cashier. âYouâve helped me a ton this past month. Let me at least start paying you back with coffee.â
The blush that overtakes his face has your insides fluttering with giddiness. You have to bite your lip to keep back your grin, your entire body warming over the fact youâve made this beautiful giant of a man blush. As the two of you stand off to the side and wait for your orders, you feel a small boost in confidence.
âHey Bucky, I was wonderingââ Youâre cut off by the shrill ringing of his phone. He sighs and pulls the device from his pocket, and if you hadnât been eyeing him so closely, youâd miss the slight downward twitch of his mouth.
âExcuse me just one sec okay?â he says apologetically. When he looks up at you, you know he means it and you nod. He smiles tightly and walks off down the small hallway that leads to the bathrooms, accepting the call with a hushed âHiâ.
You wait patiently until the barista calls your name and Buckyâs, and you grab both cups and sip lightly from yours while Buckyâs on his call. You can see him in the hall, shoulders hunched and free hand swinging about as he gestures. That pinched look is on his face again and you feel a faint tug in your gut that has you wondering if youâre close enough friends to ask.
Before you can decide one way or another, heâs pulling his phone from his ear and shoving it back in his pocket.
âSorry about that,â he sighs, accepting the coffee you hand to him with a close-lipped smile. He takes a long drink from it, wincing a little at the burn, and licks his top lip. Itâs horribly distracting for a minute. âWhat were you going to ask me?â
âOh, um, I was just wondering if you maybeâoh shit.â A quick glance down at your watch shows youâre going to be late if you wait any longer. âIâm sorry, Iâve got to get going otherwise Tonyâs going to kill me with his newest project. Um, Iâll see you later?â
Buckyâs blue eyes are slightly widened in surprise at your sudden departure. âY-Yeah, definitely. Maybe you can tell me about this new project.â Itâs said with a wink that tickles your insides.
âMaybe. If Iâm not sworn to secrecy. Bye, Bucky!â
âHave a good day at work. And thanks for the coffee!â he calls out as you fly out of the cafe.
Your exhaustion only worsens as the day goes on. The meeting youâd sat in on was nothing short of boringâeven Tony dozed off a few times, but only youâd taken notice because you were seated beside him and heard the tiny little snores. Your planner had been filled with new doodles of suns, clouds, flowers, and a tiny little witch in the margins. Youâre still unsure why youâd been required to attend this meeting; you have a pile of things on your desk that could have been done in the two hours you sat uncomfortably in your chair, listening to the other tech geniuses go back and forth on new design ideas.
By the time itâs time for you to leave, you feel dead on your feet, which are cramping in your shoes. Your neck, shoulders, and back are also killing you due to sitting in your chair and hunching over the screen built into your desk. The subway ride home has you almost falling asleep, lulled by the gentle swaying of the car and the four hoursâ sleep you got the night before.
Itâs a slow climb to your apartment, and as you pass Buckyâs door you hesitate. You never did get to ask him this morning and so, because youâre too damn tired to be shy, you turn and knock three times on his door. From behind the wood you can make out a scuffle, and then the door is yanked open and your mouth runs dry.
Bucky stands before you, shirtless and gleaming with sweat. Heâs breathless, that broad chest heaving up and down. Thereâs a smattering of dark hair across his chest and beneath his navel that disappears into the band of his shorts. The hair on his head is mussed, as if heâd been sleeping or hand run his hands through it.
âY/N,â he gasps. Crimson creeps up his neck and across his chest, stains his cheeks as well as he avoids looking at your eyes. He glances over his shoulder briefly before turning back to you, eyes cast down at the neckline of your blouse. âWha-What are you, um, doing here?â
âI, uh, wanted to ask you if you wanted to come to my brotherâs with me for the football game on Sunday?â you ask in an equally breathless rush.
Bucky seems surprised by the question and is about to answer when a second, female voice calls from behind him, âJames?â
A blonde head appears over his shoulder and the slender woman tucks herself under Buckyâs arm, looking equally as disheveled. You feel the color drain from your face even though it warms under the implication that you've...interrupted. Thereâs no question of what theyâd been, or had about to have been, doing because the blondeâs hair is ruffled just like Buckyâs, her full lips red and kiss-bitten. Her blouse is untucked and unbuttoned.
You canât take your eyes off her, nor she you as she lays a manicured hand on Buckyâs chest, a universal female power move that says heâs mine.
Bucky looks as awkward as you feel, shifting from bare foot to bare foot even as his hand rests on the womanâs shoulder. He clears his throat and gestures with his free hand to the woman, whose eyes have not left your form and are currently on their third sweep of your entire figure.
âUh, Y/N, this is Sharon.â
âHis girlfriend,â Sharon interjects. A sideways tilt of her lips that you know means no good. She reaches out with that manicured hand for yours and you shake it quickly, dropping it as if itâs burned you.
In a way, it has. Itâs burned you so badly on the inside that you want nothing more than to duck into your apartment with your tail between your legs. You can feel the flames licking at your gut, sliding up your esophagus to singe your throat. Itâs bitter, the burn, and it puts a pressure in your throat and behind your eyes.
âSharon, this is Y/N, our new neighbor I was telling you about.â He wonât look at you, focusing instead on the blank wall just over your shoulder.
His sudden refusal to look at you pairs badly with your embarrassment, from both interrupting and for ever thinking you might have a chance, and you wish the floor would open up and swallow you whole.

Nightlife of Scilica
âOkay, got it. Thanks love, bye.â
âSo, what did she say?â
âBelle says she and Masa will meet us at 6:00.â Morgan said as she slid her phone into her pocket.Â
âAlright, that leaves us a couple hours.â Lamar stated.Â
âSo what do you guys want to do in the meantime?â Sofia asked.
âWell, I guess we could wander around and see what we can find.â He suggested.Â
âWait a sec⊠Isnât Anime Reach just around the corner?â Morgan realized.Â
âAnime Reach? Wasnât that that one store you guys accidentally shoplifted from?â Sofia said.Â
âI thought we werenât gonna speak of that again!â Lamar retorted.Â
âHey, no one got arrested, so no shade from me.â Sofia teased.
âThat being said, you havenât been there before, have you Sof?â Morgan said.Â
âNope, canât say I have.â
âIn that case, you and I have a duty toward our friend here Lamar.â Morgan said confidentlyÂ
âOh yeah! As proud Otakus, weâll guide you through one of the most prestigious anime merch stores in all of Silica!â Lamar boasted. âEr, if thatâs cool with you.â Â Â Â âSounds good to me!â Sofia smiled.Â
âThen onward we go MD-5!â Morgan exclaimed.
The three proceeded through the bustling streets of Silica City. The multitude of neon signs mounted around the buildings illuminated the city in a brilliant shower of light, sparking a sense of wonder and excitement of of the nightlife scene. Indistinct chatter coming from the crowds that populated the sidewalks perpetuated the buzzing atmosphere of the night; The signature vibe of the city that MD-5 felt truly at home in.Â
âWe should be coming up to it now.â Lamar noted.Â
âYo, look! Thereâs that one gaming equipment store we looked in.â Morgan pointed to a neighboring store that looked worse for wear, complete with being decked out with glaring yellow and white neon signs that appeared to be on their last legs.
âOh yeah, Nyla Co., was it? Let me tell you, all it took was one look for us to decide to high tail it out of there- leave their shoddy products for the next poor fool to stumble upon.â He commented.Â
âHuh. Donât need to tell me twice,â Sofia said as she eyed the place dubiously.Â
âForget Nyla- I can see Anime Reach from here!â Morgan said.
âLetâs get a move on then!â Lamar said.Â
The trio made their way across the street, and they approached a large store with anime merchandise posters plastered all over the large glass windows. As they came closer, Sofiaâs eyes lit up in wonder.Â
âWoah⊠I had no idea it was so big!â She marveled.Â
âJust wait âtill you see it from the inside! Morgan said excitedly.Â
The sliding doors in front of them parted, and the entered the building. Before them was a sprawling otaku paradise; for seemingly miles the shelves were stocked with figurines, posters, cardboard cutouts, art books, disc and manga sets, anything a lover of anime could want.Â
âWow, I can see why you like it here so much.â Sofia remarked as she took it all in.Â
âIndeed, welcome to our little slice of heaven my friend.â Lamar beamed.Â
âLamarâs been here more times than Iâll have, so Iâll give him the main honors of showing you around.â Morgan noted.
âAn honor it shall be! If you ladies would follow me, Iâve got the best bits of the store practically memorized.âÂ
âI would expect nothing less.â She giggled.Â
Lamar led the two down the main isle, where several groups of fellow otakus were browsing the shelves. He then took a turn a little ways down, where the shelves displayed hordes of figures. The colorful figures all had a unique charm to them, and they were usually grouped with others from the same source material. While most of them were packaged in flashy but efficient boxes, there was a certain section where the figures were out in the open, and seemed to be mismatched between animes.
âNow, I like going into this aisle because you can actually find some good figures here, and theyâre usually pretty hard to come by otherwise.â Lamar explained. âBut thereâs also a section of figures that I think are second-handed, so they go for lower than they normally would.â Â Â Â âYeah, didnât you find a decently-made Sastsuki-Chan figure here once?â Morgan asked as they overlooked the displays.Â
âThat I did, little bud. Iâm pretty sure I still got it in my room... Somewhere.âÂ
âHey, isnât that Nova-Chan in there?â Sofia pointed to a figure in the bunch.
âWhat? Nova-Chan?? Donât worry baby! Iâll save you!â
In a rather comical endeavor, Lamar dramatically reached for the figure Sofia identified. He grabbed the blue-haired figure and cradled it gently in his hands.Â
âWhat did they do to you, Nova-Chan?âÂ
As Lamar expressed his lament, Sofia and Morgan just looked at each other, not quite knowing what to make at this display of weebness.Â
âUm⊠Is uh, is she okay?â Sofia asked after a moment.Â
âLuckily, yeah, but it ainât right for a figure thatâs so high quality to end up in a pit like that.â He stated.Â
âLooks like Nova-Chan wasnât alone at least.â Morgan dug into the pile and pulled out a figure that looked similar to Nova-Chan, but had a different design scheme.Â
Lamar gasped. âComet-Chan! Not you too!âÂ
âDonât worry, sheâs a little chipped around the edges but seems alright as well.â Morgan said as she examined it.Â
âAs much as I like this store, I wish theyâd treat some of their stuff a little better.â Lamar expressed.Â
âYou know, this actually got me thinking of that one episode near season oneâs finale.â Morgan said. âRemember how the Galactica arc started?âÂ
âOh yeah! The Nova explorers had to fight in Galacticaâs tournament to save their galaxy, and she put Comet up against Nova for the first match!â Â Â Â âYou see, it was a really big plot point because this was where Comet-Chanâs jealousy towards Nova-Chan started to boil over, and we get to see what their friendship was like before the formation of the Nova Explorers.â Morgan described.Â
âThen after Nova wins, we get a moment of character development where they re-learn what it means to be apart of the Nova Explorers, and made amends to their friendship.âÂ
âA bit cliche, but I personally think it was well done, and it solidified their friendship for the coming seasons.â
âWell now, you two are certainly well-versed in Nova Explorers lore.â Sofia joked.
âWhat can we say, we binged watched the first couple seasons last week.â She admitted. âAnyway, Lamar, how about I show Sofia and I look around the rest of the place, while you scour the other end for any rare merch you might have missed?â
âSounds like a plan, little man.â
The two shared a triumphant fist-bump, then briefly parted ways. Lamar went to searching the shelves in great detail, using his keen eye to detect anything worth noting. Morgan and Sofia went about in a more casual manner, however the former continued on about Nova Explorers lore and how it all connected to the central plot. Sofia didnât quite understand it all, but eagerly listened nonetheless. It was fun wandering around in the store, it felt like so long since they all just let loose and had a good time. The trio almost felt as though they were kids once again running about the toy store.Â
It may have been for that reason that they nearly lost track of time; Morgan was dramatically acting out a pivotal moment in one of the latter seasons with a couple of figurines, when she abruptly remembered the schedule they were on.Â
âHold on, Sofia!â she said, realization hitting like a brick. âWhat time is it?â
âUh- five fifty.â She stated, checking her phone.
âShit! We need to find Lamar and get going!â
She nodded in agreement, and the two set off to find their Otaku friend. It took a few minutes, but they managed to spot him rummaging deeply in a shelf.Â
   âLamar! There you are!â
âHuh- Ack!â He cried as he banged his head on the upper shelf as he came out.Â
âDude, come on, weâre meeting the others in ten minutes!â Morgan said.    âOh damn, we better get a move on!â
With that, the trio hurried out of the store back onto the streets. After briefly arguing which would be the quickest path to take, MD-5 ended up cutting through a nearby alley way and out onto a major commercial lane. Despite nearly running into several people and maybe a lamppost or two, the friends eventually made it to where they agreed to meet.    âFinally! Good thing we got here in time.â Sofia said slightly out of breath, looking intently at Lamar.
âHey, I was on a good lead towards a limited edition, so sorry if I lost track of time a bit.â Lamar defended. âBesides, we werenât held up too badly now, were we?âÂ
âIâll say. Now where-â Morgan was interrupted by a ping from her phone. After reading it over, she looked around for a moment before spotting a couple of familiar faces.Â
âGuys, there they are!â She exclaimed. âMasa! Belle! Over here!âÂ
The other two members of MD-5 turned to face the rest of their friends.Â
âHey there, itâs about time you all showed up.â Masa said.Â
âSorry, we spent some time at Anime Reach and got a little distracted.â Morgan smirked at Lamar.Â
âLook, a fanâs gotta do what a fanâs gotta do, okay?â He said proudly.Â
âWell, what are we all standing around for? Iâm dying for some food over here.â Morgan said.Â
âYeah! Besides, we still havenât covered the Quazar arc from the fourth season of Nova Explorers!â Lamar said.Â
âOh boy, here we go again.â Belle said in a half exasperated tone.Â
âHey, thatâs what you sign up for when your girlfriend and her best friend are anime fans.â Morgan said playfully.Â
âRegrettably so.â She nudged her a bit before putting an arm around her.Â
âSo as I was saying to Sofia, the Quazar arc really threw the fandom for a loop as it turned one of the main concepts of the series on itâs head-â
And thus she would nerd on, with only one other member of the group intently listening.

there u go boo đ©ââ€ïžâđâđ©đ©ââ€ïžâđâđ©đ©ââ€ïžâđâđ©
GDBDNSKDJHHDDNDS GIRL................ ok so i very cleverly avoided ranking folklore because every song REALLY HIT and the whole album was just SO.. SO.. yeah. i can however rank miss evermore. i dont want to compare the two album i do not get the point in that. both give off really different vibes. now what i will say is with folklore, AS AN ALBUM, it is just a master masterpiece. The songs flowed amazingly with each other and really held you close the entire first listen. at least thats what I felt like <3 with evermore however, the individual songs are OMG!!! THERE IS LITERALLY NO SONG I DONT LIKE FROM ANY OF THE TWO ALBUMS. but as an album on the first listen i did feel a bit disconnected from evermore which didnt happen to me with folklore. why i think that mightâve happened is BECAUSE taylor is just so brilliant m8.... the MASSIVE contrasting emotions between the songs was too much for my little brain to handle.
Ok so now thatâs out of the way dhsjsk time for rankings :) i have no idea where im going to put each song im just going to make it up as we go <3 ill ALSO give you my fave lyrics from each if I remember it <333 (oh and also youâll notice marjorie isnt here. im sorry but i never listened to it after the first listen because it hits a little too close to home and i dont want to unpack all of that now im sorry! it is a beautiful song)
14. Closure: she popped off <3 she really said dont treat me like a situation that needs to be handled đđ€đŻ a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics HOWEVER its the first song i couldnt connect with thus itâs down here BUT I STILL WOULD LISTEN TO IT ON REPEAT THO... the last in my ranking but still fucks đââïžđââïžđââïž thats taylor swift đ©ââ€ïžâđâđ©
13. long story short: i have never been in a relationship ever BUT GODDAMN âpushed from the precipice, clung to the nearest lipsâ hdjsksksjjddjnBbdns jddd ubebs!:!?:?:$3&39383$hzjs WOAH.... and this bitch really summarized the full 2016 drama with long story short it was a bad time. HILARITY. yeah not much to say here tho this is just the âat least one mandatory song to shake your tits to on each ts albumâ song of evermore <3 and always remember that if the shoe fits walk in it TILL YOUR HIGH HEELS BREAK WOOH ANDIFELLDOWNTHEPEDESTALRIGHTDOWNTHERAâ
12: dorothea: making a lark of misery :D RENt free. i had to listen to âif youre tired of being known for who you know you know youll always know meâ 113 times to finally understand it tho đ some of us are stupid and illiterate have you ever thought about that miss swift???? anyways TINGTINGTINGINGINGING THE STARS IN YOUR EYES SHINED BRIGHTER IN TUPELO <33333 such an innocent feel good song I LOVE!!!!!
11. ivy: the goddamn here and the hush of mirrorball ARE THE REASON IM STILL ALIVE đœ another lyrical masterclass <3 âid live and die for moments that we stole on begged and borrowed timeâ IS2G!!!!!!!!!!! anyways what if you cheated on your husband with me and i cheated on my husband with you and my pain fit in the palm of your freezing hands đł JK JK đ

Set It Up: The Christmas Rush Part 2
Pairing(s): KanaDiaMari, NozoNicoEli Word Count: Â 12 770 Chapter : 2/2(?)
The 2nd chapter of the christmas collab with @nozoroomie is up!Â
The halls of the mall are semi empty as Eli Ayase enters the mall. She arrives early that morning to get the store open and running for the day. Itâs another busy day for the christmas season and she cannot afford to be unprepared. Thanks to the other managerâs specific and wonderful closing routine, Eli knows that the store will be in tip top shape. All she and Kanan will have to do is a walk around of the store and setting up the tills and theyâll be set to open the doors for the business day.
As sheâs walking down the halls on her way to Chacciâs she finds said co-worker is an early bird today too, thankfully. She smiles a bit grateful for that- her last part timer that worked opens with her was a late riser and was almost always late for their shift. Kananâs the perfect opposite of them and it adds to her list of âreasons I enjoy working with Kanan Matsuura.â
Kanan stands in front of the store with a friend, and as Eli walks closer she can tell itâs the blonde girl from the chocolate store. What was her name again? Mar- Mariah? No, thatâs the one that sings the christmas song, what was Kananâs girlfriend named again- Mari! The one Dia says sheâs dating!
Eli feels sheepishly embarrassed for forgetting that little tidbit for a hot minute.
âKanan, and uh, Mari, good morning!â Eli smiles as she walks up to the couple who turns around to greet her in return.
âGood morning, Eli!â Kanan returns the smile, and Mari seems to beam at the sound of her name.
âBuongiorno!"
Eli gives herself a small mental pat on the back for remembering Mariâs name correctly. While they arenât exactly friends, theyâve made small talk a couple times in the past and Eli doesnât want to seem rude to someone she considers an acquaintance at least.
She notices Mariâs dressed up in the familiar purple uniform of Oharreroâs and takes note that sheâs probably waiting for her coworker before opening up the shop. With that she glances over Kananâs outfit and sure enough, itâs another keeper for sure. The green and red horizontal stripes of her overalls? pajamaralls? They looked so comfortable, and combined with a tiny hint of tree lights and that tight fitting white t-shirt underneath its a deadly holiday combination of both sexy and cute. Eli really needs to steal some fashion tips- this girl? You've heard of elf on the shelf, now get ready for Kanan's passion for fashion. She could probably rock a paper bag if she added some kind of festive decoration to it.
âReady to open in a short moment?â Eli asks with her polite smile.
âOh yeah! Gimme a sec.â Kanan grins and turns to Mari to say her goodbyes before they both get to work.
She busies herself with unlocking the sliding glass panes to open the store up for her and Kanan. As she does, she ends up a little closer to them and can overhear some words being said. Mari laughs a bit with Kanan and pulls away.
âOkay, Iâll invite Nozomi and Nico today and Iâll let you know if theyâre gunna come, okay~? See if you can get Dia on board. Love you babe~â Mari gives her girlfriend a small wave before walking to the chocolate shop.
Eli hears those names mentioned and her curiosity goes from zero to a hundred in an instant. Inviting Nozomi and Nico? Get Dia on board? What could they be doing that involved her crushes and her other coworker?
Well she guesses it could be a lot considering Kanan and Mari are Diaâs best friends. Itâs probably nothing more than a get together with friends. Deciding itâs not worth lingering on the thought, Eli pushes it to the back of her mind and gets into the workplace mindset.
She and Kanan enter and commence their walk around- they have fifteen minutes until the mall is officially open and so itâs up to them to make sure the store is presentable and ready for the rush of customers purchasing things for christmas. She realizes it hasnât been that often that sheâs got to work on shifts with Kanan and her alone, especially since most of the time Kanan was scheduled to join her and Dia on shifts. Today itâs the other way around, since Dia asked to come in later thanks to a planned brunch with her little sister and her girlfriends.
Eli decides to form a bit of small talk and get to know Kanan a bit more.
âSo,â She starts, catching Kananâs attention from the wall of expensive zip up sweaters, âHow long have you known Dia?â
Kanan has a small hint of surprise in her eyes as her smile widens from the question.
âGrade school! We grew up together alongside our mutual friend-- my girlfriend, Mari.â
Kanan says it as if itâs one of the best things in the world and it warms Eliâs heart.
âI see.â Eli smiles warmly as she begins to count the till, making sure the change matches up with the required $150 that is meant to be left inside of it at the end of the night.
Kanan fixes up a couple of sweaters on the hangers and decides to keep speaking, wanting to confide more to her elder coworker.
âDia is our best friend. To be honest, weâve kinda been crushing on her for a long time now. Even when we started dating- weâve always thought itâd be great if she could be apart of it too.â
Eli pauses her counting and her gaze immediately goes to the navy haired girl. Did she hear that correctly? The both of them have a crush on her?! Now this is some good, juicy love triangle gossip if sheâd ever seen it. And Eli had seen a lot, on the big screen that is. Except itâs more like the triangle is Kanan and Mari mutually loving each other but also really loving someone else- So itâs less of a standard love triangle and more of an amazing polyamorous one. Like the ones she canât watch on the big screen.
Eli decides that this is the perfect opportunity to pry.
âHave you guys thought about.. If sheâs into dating two people?â Eli has to think about her question and Kanan seems a little. Disheartened.
âSorta. Well, Mari made a lot of jokes about it in the beginning to the point where Dia doesnât exactly believe us when we try to talk more about it, you know? She tries to joke less and be more serious these days, but because sheâs so aloof and funny, Dia doesnât really take it seriously.â Kanan laughs sheepishly and Eli nods, kinda understanding.
âWell, what about you?â Eli asks curiously, âHave you tired asking her out too?â
Kanan side steps a little and rubs the back of her neck, blushing.
âI uh. I try sometimes. When I show off- she gets reallll flustered around me cause she thinks Iâm hot. But itâs like-â She pauses and laughs again, âI guess Iâm not as brave as Mari and canât really say it outloud like she can. I want to-- I want to a lot. I can say it to Mari but when i try to say the words âI like youâ To Dia I just-â
Thatâs when Eli sees it. The look of a lovesick puppy. Kananâs cheeks heat up in a way Eliâs never seen outside of interactions with her girlfriend every now and again. It makes her heart grow at least three sizes bigger. Sheâs rooting for these three! She canât help it- she might not know Mari but if what Kanan says is true she can only imagine she wears the same lovestruck gaze Kanan does when talking about Dia.
âIf it means anything, I think hearing it from you might make Dia take it a little more seriously.â Eli finishes up counting the cash and smiles reassuringly at Kanan, âSheâs very fond of you, despite your fashion choices.â
Kanan laughs heartily at Eliâs teasing.
âOne day, sheâll join us. And weâll get that photo proof and Mari will have it blown up and framed inside of our cottage by the sea.â
Eli laughs. Damn- this girl really thought her future out with them. Itâs literally the cutest thing sheâs heard all day.
âWhat about you, Eli?â
âHm? What about me?â
Kanan walks to the counter and leans on it, grinning up at her cheekily.
âSo, anyone special you got your eye on?â
Kanan looks super mischievous and Eli hopes her cheeks havenât tinted pink(they totally have.)
âNot- no, not exactly.â She replies, glancing away from her to the accessories rack.
Kanan waggles her eyebrows. Eli closes her eyes, feeling her gazes bore through her. Sheâs starting to understand what Dia means about Kanan being a handful in her own charming way.
âThereâs some- well, a couple people who Iâve been interested in but.. Well, I have no time for it, really, and I donât think itâd get further than acquaintanceship anyway.â
Excuses. All of them are excuses. Eliâs just a coward who canât approach attractive possibly lesbian ladies. Unsurprisingly, Kanan can see through all of them like Elle Woods in the court, Eli is gay and European. She pushes herself off the counter and walks over to a display closer to Eliâs line of sight.
âWhat makes you think that? Have you ever tried to hangout with them or get their phone numbers?â
Eli can feel the air sucked out of her lungs at the idea. Kanan assumes too much of her- she couldnât do that until they were at least a level 5 acquaintanceship and to get there would require Eli to actually take up Nozomi on her offer and visit the shop while sheâs working (which, she has admittedly, not tried yet.) She laughs dryly.
âThe only time Iâm ever social is when Iâm at work here with you girls. And well, I guess with my little sister.â She mumbles under her breath, âand sometimes my little sisters girlfriend..â
Kanan kinda pities her. Slightly. Eli looked like a functional lesbian when they first met, but now that she thinks about it? Disaster lesbian. The Eli peg on her mental chart of lesbians has moved and been solidly placed in that category.
âIâm kinda surprised! You look like the type of girl who would be a social butterfly, or at least someone involved in social activities.â
Eli shrugs a little.
âLooks can be deceiving. I was sorta cold and distant in school as a kid, and by the time I got to college I just sort of. Had no idea how to communicate informally around my peers. Iâd get invited to go out to parties and stuff but the one time I went back in high school, it just felt awful. Super overwhelming and scary. I hadnât really been to a party outside of family get togethers and it was all so different.â
Thereâs a twitch to Kananâs eyebrow as she listens intently to Eli.
âBut I donât really mind. Parties arenât my scene, Iâm okay with that.â
Itâs only five minutes until theyâre open for business when Eli takes a quick look at her watch, so she decides thatâs a good spot to end their conversation. Saved by the bell-- just in time.
âFive minutes left, letâs get ready to open the doors.â
âAh, yes of course! Iâm gonna turn on the radio, do you want AM or FM?â
Kanan walks behind the counter and picks up the small portable radio, watching as Eli goes to open the doors for the christmas rush that was coming their way. This plan could be a little harder than expected.
Eli folds some new sweaters that came in when Dia walks into the store ready for her shift. Itâs just as she predicted- Dia walks straight up to Kanan with disgust plastered all over her face when she sees the girls attire for the day.
âKanan Matsuura, what in the world are you wearing!? This is Chacciâs, not Santaâs workshop!â
Eli just canât help it. With the new information she got this morning she has to see this through. Sheâs made it a personal goal to try to witness any and all growing feelings Dia could potentially have for her childhood friends. She folds the next sweater a bit slower to keep up with their small conversation.
âOh come on, Iâm wearing a normal t-shirt today!â Kanan laughs as Diaâs face grows more red.
âYou know very well thatâs not what Iâm talking about.â
Despite how much Dia protests Eli can tell that sheâs never really genuinely upset. It was amusing watching the two of them before, but now? Even more so, and the blush that dusts over Diaâs cheeks when Kanan is being her adorable self in those outfits makes Eli smile from ear to ear behind the stack of sweaters sheâs folding where no one can see. Kanan and Mari were going to have another girlfriend in like, no time at all. Eli is already betting herself $10 that the two of them will succeed before the new year.
Eli folds the last sweater, and once sheâs done a customer grabs her attention. A young woman, only a few years older than herself needs help with finding a couple christmas gifts. So Eli takes her to a couple different sections before they both land on the âMerry Chaccimasâ one. They have some of their bestsellers in that section, and Eli puts on her best customer service voice as she recommends the different fits to the woman.
The woman leaves the store happy with two of the higher quality blouses they sell in cute christmas designs and Eli surveys the store again to see Kanan and Dia had taken their conversation closer to the back of the store, sorting new products and pricing them. But what was this? Eli squints to see them better and-- oh my. They were standing much closer to each other all of a sudden.
She sadly canât hear what theyâre talking about all the way in the back of the store, so she decides to ignore it for now while she checks up on the counter. Thereâs some assorted clutter there and itâs a nice thing to focus on. Sheâs in the middle of tidying up the wrapping paper and ribbon when Kananâs voice travels far enough to reach her ears.
âIs the Kurosawa Dia really going to turn down a challenge? I thought she could do pretty much anything.â
Did Eli just hear that right? What was this? Her ears perk up and she looks over to the two of them again. Her eyes as big as silver plates and ears tuned in like a radio for that juicy hot gossip.
Theyâve moved a bit closer to where Eli was standing. Dia looks more than personally offended by Kananâs statement, and then thereâs Kanan with a smug confident grin on her face like she just won something. What was going down between them? Eli can only make blind guesses. Maybe Kanan finally confessed? Maybe she was going to confess? Wait Dia just finished putting away a pair of pants before turning her whole body completely towards Kanan, stepping completely into her personal space. Eli screams in silence as Dia lifts her hand closer to Kananâs face. The tension, the suspense and finally the kiss-
Diaâs hand stops at Kananâs shoulder before she jabs her very pointedly in the shoulder with her finger. It mustâve been pretty hard to, even Kanan whoâs shoulders looks like theyâre hard as marble winces slightly at that attack.
âHow DARE you make such an assumption. Do you even know who I am!?â
âI just said your name a mome-â
âThen you know better than ANYBODY that Iâm not going to back down. Iâm going to do this-- and Iâm going to win. Understood, Kanan?â
Thatâs when it falls into a more logical place, Eliâs seen the competitive side of Dia before but this is a whole new level. Whatâs Dia so determined to win? The small smile on Kananâs lips looks like more of an uneasy one now, but it still has that hint of smugness that Eli canât quite place. Its like Kanan agreed that Dia would win, but she wasnât the one losing either way.
âUnderstood! I get it! Youâre down for it!â Kanan tries to laugh it off but when Dia takes her hand away and goes back to the clothes, she seeâs Kanan reach up to rub the spot she jabbed. Todayâs the day Eli witnessed Dia Kurosawa dent a small bulk in the marble statue that is Kanan Matsuura. Whatever competition they have going on has to lead up to Dia getting together with Kanan and Mari. Sheâs betting on it.
âAnyway, Mari and I will fill you in later. Iâll be going to see her on my break to see if she got Nico and Nozomi to come so weâll go from there.â
Eli hears that name again- Nozomi. That was the name of the pretty girl working at Oharreroâs. The really pretty one who dropped off chocolates Dia left at the store. Good god Eli really is a gay mess. She truly feels like a disaster lesbian. First she was daydreaming and cheering on her co-workers soon to be romance, and now she was back to thinking about that girl again, Nozomi...
Eliâs always known sheâs been gay, but she never really acted on it. Sheâd delve into the depths of the internet and try to meet more girls online but being anti-social made it difficult for her to hold conversations with many of them. She had tried it all.. tinder, plentyoffish, match.com, but she rarely got past making a profile. Sheâd even tried going to a gay event at the college campus cafe once, but she couldnât even bring herself to enter the door to the shop.
So she stuck with admiring pretty girls from afar, and it worked. For a while. Until she saw them working across the way. It started with the black haired girl- who Eli wants to say is Nico, given conversations sheâs heard, but she has no confirmation on that- and it wasnât long after before Nozomi joined the staff.
God itâs hard for her not to admire them on her shifts. She fantasizes about buying snacks from there just to get a closer look at their beautiful features. How pathetic- fantasizing about buying sweets to marvel cute girls instead of actually going to do it.
Sadly, Eli Ayase is a cowardly gay and could never. Besides theyâre probably not gay. Even though she saw them holding hands leaving work one day and they totally blow kisses at each other. Sheâs seen it. But theyâre definitely not gay. Or into her. Theyâre just gals being pals. Do they even know she exists? (a stupid thought- at least Nozomi knows she exists).
She pushes her gay crisis thoughts down with a small sigh and remembers work and her important task of managing the store.
She turns around to put away the gift wrapping supplies when she realizes Dia has come behind the counter to sort hangers from the changing rooms and such on the table behind her. (How long did she daydream for?).
Eli takes a quick look around and the store, not failing to notice itâs dead right now. Perfect. Eli decides to strike up conversation. A small distraction from the girls across the hall.
âWhat do you think of Kananâs outfit today?â She starts, watching as Dia almost snaps the plastic hanger in her hands. She looks at Eli with a pointed stare.
Eli stares back at Dia with that knowing smile, and Dia literally wishes she could say something. Anything. But she respects her too much and Eli knows it.
âWe will not comment on That.â Dia states flatly.
Before Eli can tease Dia a little more Kanan approaches the counter.
âIs it okay if I take my break now?â
Eli takes a quick glance to Oharreroâs and sees that itâs the shorter black haired girl working there today.
âSounds good, give me a second to get you some cash-â
âDonât worry about it today Eli, I got you covered,â Kanan beams and leans onto the counter closer to Eli and continues in a quieter voice, âMari promised a bunch of free samples for us today.â
Eli blinks and smiles.
âIâll have to thank her later on then.â
Before Kanan leaves she makes brief eye contact with Dia. She gives her a small wink and cheeky smile and then sheâs out the door and on her way across the hall. Dia glowered a little bit and Eliâs curiosity comes back, but she says nothing.
Thereâs not a lot do in the store now. Eli and Dia sort out the rest of the hangers on the table together when Dia decides to speak up.
âYou know, there is a place you could thank Mari personally.â Dia starts, bringing them into a topic of conversation.
âWhen sheâs working..?â Eli says with the hint of a question
âWell if youâre going to be a smart then yes, thatâs one way to.â Dia almost rolls her eyes and Eli canât help but feel like sheâs a part of Diaâs inner circle. Sheâs gotten a reaction like that from her! Sheâs succeeded!
Eli laughs and smiles.
âWhat were you really going to say?â She prods.
Dia waits a moment, examining Eli for any further teasing.
âMari is going to be hosting a christmas party at her place. She hosts a holiday party around christmas and sheâs decided to do a big christmas party this year. Donât worry, itâs not on the actual day. A couple days before hand actually.â Dia says it as if sheâs remembering all the small details, but looks at Eli with a soft smile.
âI think youâd like it- There wonât be too many others there and Mari tends to have a lot of fun...events.â
Dia looks as if sheâs holding back saying some juicy details- maybe from past party experiences. She just has this face that says she wants to elaborate on what they consist of. On one hand, Eli wants to ask her what kind of events they are, but on the other hand sheâs surprised- she didnât expect to be invited to hang out with Dia at her friends party and- well, it is a little coincidental that she explained how parties arenât exactly her thing to Kanan only hours before hand.
She feels a little sad that sheâs probably going to decline.
âEvents huh...â Eli decides to at least pretend sheâs pondering going to the party. For Diaâs sake at least.
âOh yes! Nobody is required to bring a gift and yet Mari likes making sure everyone gets a little something? She calls them wrapped party favours. Last year she gave my little sister the exact plush toy she had been eyeing in the window of the toy store here. I couldnât believe it- Ruby hadnât mentioned it to anyone and yet... And yet!â
Eli smiles to herself because the way Dia talks about her friend is so wholesome and sweet. It seems kinda like she likes them as more than a friend. Actually, Eli is completely sure about it. Or sheâs putting way too much thought into this ever since Kanan mentioned it (sheâs definitely put a lot more thought into ever since Kanan mentioned it.)
âYour little sister gets invited too?â She asks curiously.
âOh well-- yes. Sheâs friends with Mari as well. She has a small circle of friends outside of us, and they happen to be friends Kanan lived near as a kid. Itâs weird, but weâre all connected somehow and weâre all very good friends.â
Dia has such a soft smile and Eli understands why Kanan and Mari love it so much. Dia is a very, very cute girl.
âBut anyways, the party-â she goes back to the most important footnote of the conversation. âWould you be interested in coming along?â
âAh- I will, uh.â Eliâs trying to find the best excuse. What can she even say? âSorry, I canât because I have plans to stay at home and watch christmas movies alone and eat a whole tub of icecream all by myself while my little sister goes on her christmas date at her girlfriend's familyâs christmas party?â That is literally an excuse for Dia to pressure Eli into going to the party even more.
She swallows. She literally has nothing to do instead and sheâs not a confident liar. Secret keeper? Sure. Liar? Well.
Saving her from actually answering, Kanan comes back with a bag of chocolates and a huge grin.
âHere you go Eli! And Dia, guess what!â She looks ecstatic- the definition of a happy little working elf.
âHm? What is it?â Dia asks.
âNico said yes! She messaged Nozomi and Nozomiâs down for it too! This yearâs party is going to be great!â Kanan beams even more.
âIt will be fun to have some new faces around for christmas!â Dia smiles delighted. Finally, some good fucking news.
âRight!? Mariâs hyped it up a lot to them and the moment she said this year there was going to be karaoke, Nico seemed to instantly agree. Apparently-â Kananâs voice becomes background music.
Dia said the parties werenât really that big, and they were fun. If it was only a few select friends and the cute girls that Eliâs been ogling  were going to be there. There really couldnât be any harm in going, right?
Kanan and Dia discuss things a bit more before a customer walks over to them and asks if she could use the changing room. Kanan happily heads over to the changing station with them.
Now that Dia and Eli are alone again Eli decides to voice her decision.
âSo... what day is the party? And could I have the address?â
âThis saturday the 22nd, at the Ohara Mansion at 17 Cherry Tree Lane.â
Sure enough, after a long internal debate about going to a mansion christmas party, Eli finds herself on the front steps of the giant building. Mansion. She shouldnât have agreed to going to a mansion of all places for a small christmas party.
But she did. And sheâs here. In the nicest festive wear she could find (she does wish she had a more Kanan-like outfit, but the moment Diaâs lips said âMansionâ Eli instantly went into presentable mode.) A simple long sleeve shirt with a cute snowflake pattern in a cute, light blue shade (her green one was in the wash and everything else she had didnât quite scream christmas) followed by a cute and simple plaid skirt. If plaid doesnât tell anyone at this party sheâs here and sheâs queer then she doesnât know what will.
Sheâs perfectly on time, as one should be when going to a party (she assumes, sheâs really guessing from her chick flicks). She isnât sure whether to knock or ring the doorbell, but she imagines that knocking on the door when nobody is near it might be a bit useless. She locates the doorbell immediately and presses it.
Within moments Mariâs at the door and her eyes practically sparkle as she stares down at Eli. Wait- stares down? Eli blinks up rather surprised to see Mari is at least half a foot taller than she was before. A quick glance over shows Mari in a somewhat. Well. If Kananâs fashion was bad according to Dia, Eli can only imagine how she feels about the voluptuous snowman and itâs âsexy and I snow itâ caption beside it. Glancing downward she sees the dangerous looking christmas shoes Mari wears and suddenly her height change makes complete sense.
She really hopes Mari doesnât break her ankle when she trips.
âAyase-san! Welcome! Come right in, youâre one of the first few guests to arrive!â Mari steps to the side to let Eli into the colossal household. Before Eli can take a step further though, Mari stops her.
âHold up! Youâre under the mistletoe~â
Eliâs eyes widen in surprise and she looks around helplessly until she sees it- right on Mari Ohara herself. Directly inside the little loop of blonde hair she likes to wear. It looks like its solidly tied in and Eli can feel a nervous sweat beginning to form. She barely knows her and she has to kiss her?!
âE-erm.â Eli mumbles.
Mari breaks and laughs.
âItâs joke! Donât worry, I wonât force you to give me a smooch if youâre not comfortable with it Ayase-san. Youâre one of the three newer guests to the party so if you donât want to, you donât have to!â
âT-Thank you.â She smiles a bit awkwardly as she continues past Mari, slipping off her boots, âThank you for the invite as well.â
Mari beams as Eli decides to take in her environment. She can tell they take the holidays very seriously in the Ohara household. On every door frame and banister were decorations galore- some were a variety of christmas lights, some were fancy garlands with decorative little ornaments hanging from them. In almost every corner was a fancy christmas themed object of sorts- the most visible things were the miniature christmas trees and their themed ornaments (Eli swears she saw one that just had a bunch of ornaments that were photos of Mari and her family. Itâs actually very cute.)
And then there was the giant golden statue in the middle of the room that looked like, no. It was a Mari statue, decorated in a christmas sweater and reindeer antlers on its head, and it even had a red nose attached somehow too. What exactly had she walked into?
Mari leads her into the house after she takes off her boots and directs her to where the party will be held- the main living room. Elis eyes widen and she gasps in wonder at the delightful decorations. Thereâs a long table by the window filled with punch and snacks of all sorts, a gigantic christmas tree with a star on the top (and another image in the star- a photo of Mari? good lord.) the ornaments are a decorative red, green, gold and silver and the lights arenât super bright leds, but beautiful dim and golden. Honestly, Eli canât believe how wonderful the place is- she feels like this isnât just somebody's house.
A voice pulls her from her thoughts and she turns to find Dia sitting on a sofa with a shorter, red haired girl next to her. She seems a little startled by Diaâs greeting but her eyes are all on her. It only takes one glance at those wide green irisâ for Eli to make the connection between her and Dia- thatâs Ruby! Eli smiles and decides to head over to that spot.
âYou made it Ayase-san!â Dia says happily, âOn time too! That says more than the other guests.â
Eli would object but it does seem a little odd nobody has arrived at the correct time. Then again, parties seem to be a casual get together so Mari might not be a stickler for guests being a little later than the planned time. Mari comments on how sheâs going to see if Kananâs ready and that sheâll be back in a few minutes, and that clears up where her other coworker is. Sheâs happy to know theyâre both here and she wouldnât be alone in a strangers house waiting for them.
She and Dia fall into small conversation. Dia properly introduces her to Ruby, and while Ruby seems a little shy, sheâs a delight to be around. She loves to knit and has a huge interest in sweets, particularly hard candies. She makes a mental note of that.
Mari returns shortly after, taking a seat with the group and commenting that Kananâs just finishing getting ready and will be down soon. Dia and Ruby decide to grab a couple snacks from the table and that leaves Eli alone with the Oharreroâs employee.
Eli decides to dive right into interrogation.
âOhara-san?â Eli says, turning her body to face her. Mari is attentive and smiles.
âCall me Mari~â she responds with a grin, âWhatâs up? Did you need anything?â
âPlease call me Eli then!â She responds in kind, continuing to speak, âI donât really need anything in particular. I just kinda wanted to ask about your relationship with Dia.â She glances to the refreshments to make sure Dia is preoccupied. âKananâs told me a brief history, but I was just curious about how you feel.â
Mari is surprised by the question, but if thereâs a blush on her face itâs practically invisible.
âIâll give you the longer version another time, but all I can really say about it right now is I plan to change our relationship somehow tonight. Hopefully for the better.â She flashes Eli a playful wink and it brings out the first of what she hopes is many laughs.
âIs that Eli?! You made it!â A new voice comes in and before Eli can even identify the speaker, thereâs a loud shriek.
âKANAN MATSUURA WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS.â
On the staircase on the other side of the room, Kanan wears a red and white themed christmas suit of sorts? Itâs definitely a suit, itâs a proper suit jacket but with short sleeves, and instead of having pants itâs a pair of matching shorts. She wears almost knee length red and white striped socks matched by converse with a red backdrop followed by snowflake patterns. The little christmas trees on the fabric of the clothes add more of a colour pop, even the tie matches the suits fabric, and honestly its. Well, itâs a lot. Eli appreciates Kananâs sense of style (or lack thereof) but she wonders if thereâs more to the outfit choice than its christmas spirit and stylish accessorising.
Eli watches as Dia goes through the seven stages of grief almost instantly. Ruby looks concerned but thereâs a slightly amused smile threatening to show itself. Kanan canât help but laugh as she adjusts her santa hat.
âAwh, come on Dia! Itâs christmas! Mari gave me special permission to adorn this outfit tonight~â
âKanan Matsuura you are going to be the death of me.â Dia says exasperatedly before turning to Mari with a pleading gaze. âMari Ohara, tell me you didnât.â
Mari, immovable as she is, flashes her a peace sign.
âIt was all Kanan wanted for christmas this year! I couldnât say no!â
Eli wishes she was filming Diaâs face as her lips formed a tight line and her gaze burned into Mariâs. She turns to Ruby and Ruby looks up at her, wondering what her choice will be. Eliâs tempted to visit the popcorn bowl just to snack and watch the younger girl as she decides whether sheâll spend the night here or not.
Her decision is made for her when the doorbell rings, signalling the arrival of other guests.
Eli sort of loses track of time. Sheâs aware two people have arrived together- two more unfamiliar faces. They greet Mari with cheek kisses as if it were an everyday thing before moving like magnets towards Ruby. Eli learns from Dia that theyâre her younger sisters friends and companions (A fact that surprises Eli a little bit- her little sister has two girlfriends before her? Eli almost pities Dia.) The shorter, chubbier girl is named Hanamaru while the taller, lankier and goth looking one calls herself Yohane (a self given nickname, according to Dia.)
Shortly after them is a group of three girls, two who were Kananâs other childhood friends. Chika and You grew up on the same street as her and Chika and Kananâs families have been friends since before they were born. Their other friend, Riko, has only been attending the christmas parties for a few years now, but as used to it as she should be sheâs still pleasantly surprised by the size of the mansion like Eli is.
Which, somehow, with all these new people arriving, makes the huge building so much smaller. Eliâs beginning to feel the onset of that familiar anxiety she feels when being in large groups. She moves to the refreshments table, pretending to eye all the goodies as a tactic to keep her mind off of socializing with the unfamiliar girls. Diaâs gotten lost in a conversation with the the girl named Riko and somehow Kanan has ended up chatting it up with Diaâs little sister and her girlfriends. Eliâs only other option is Mari, but she doesnât seem to be around at the moment?
As she has that thought she realizes why that is.
âOkay everyone! Looks like all our guests have arrived!â Mari calls from the entrance of the room and Eliâs eyes land on the guests sheâs been nervous and excited to see all night.
Mariâs coworkers have arrived, both together and Eli is almost floored by their appearance. No christmas party is truly complete without everyone enjoying the festive sweaters and Nozomi and Nico are no strangers to it. Nico wears a sweater with the body of an elf starting at the collar of the sweater. It makes it look as if she herself is the elf and its humorous and adorable all at the same time. Eli notices the scrunchies in her hair have holly and little jingle bells tied to it and god. Waiting awkwardly in that odd span of time just to see how this girl could rock the ugliest of christmas sweaters was worth it. She wonders if its her makeup that helps complete the look- it looks so simple and yet so elegant- Nico definitely knows what sheâs doing to make those eyeliner wings look on fleek and Eli doesnât even know if her contour is makeup or natural- in this lighting itâs really hard to tell.
Thatâs only Nico though-- Nozomi on the other hand has taken a page from Mariâs book. Her hair is tied in a beautiful long braid with little holly decorations weaved through the strands to match Nicoâs, but the sweater is something else entirely. The chest part of the fabric is covered by mittens and the text reads in bright red âTitâs the season.â Itâs awful. Itâs a seriously corny joke. Eli might not even be fond of it if it wasnât for the fact one of the cutest girls here was wearing it.
She has no idea how sheâs going to make it out of this party alive. She reaches for the punch, pours herself a cup and throws it back, drinking it all in one gulp before pouring herself another cup. When did she get this thirsty?
In her haze of admiring her crushes and drinking punch, Eli finds herself back in the spot sheâd been sitting in before. She idly watches the two of them out of the corner of her eye and she seeâs Mari share a laugh with the both of them. Nozomiâs eyes crinkle adorably as she giggles and Nicoâs match and god- agreeing to this party is either the best idea sheâs had in months or it will kill her on sight (much like Kananâs outfits for Dia.) In her staring she fails to notice that the two have started walking over towards the couchs where she sits and she hasnât even looked away.
At this point Eli really wishes she would be taken out, in a date way or a sniper way, she wasnât very picky right now. She definitely just got caught staring. She brings her attention downward and decides hey, her punch is probably a much better topic to focus on at the moment. She looks down and peers into the cup and its.. empty? When did she drink her second glass?! She vaguely remembers bringing the cup up to her lips as she was watching the Oharrero employees and- well. She realizes she probably took another one big gulp in that moment. This is embarrassing.
The spot next to her sinks and Dia has taken the spot next to Eli. She looks a little defeated- or exhausted? Itâs hard to tell at the moment. She smiles a bit sympathetically at her and Dia only sighs. Sheâs aware other people have decided to sit near them and Diaâs defeated gaze only perks up, a fire igniting inside them as she smiles politely.
âToujou-san! Yazawa-san! Itâs great to see you could make it too.â
Oh my god Eli really has to stop spacing out- she thought the two of them were across the room still and now theyâre already taking seats with them. Sheâs unprepared! Whatâs a good conversation topic? What happens if they point out she was staring? Does she have any excuses prepared? Oh god- sheâs doing it again. She pushes the anxious gay baby thoughts away and makes a new goal for the party; no more spacing out. Ignore the cute girls- stay present for any and all conversations sheâs included in and make it out of this alive with her pride damaged as little as possible.
Sheâs aware theyâve greeted her and she can feel her muscles robotically moving to wave a tiny bit. She says hello and puts her arm down. It feels like this itself is an out of body experience and she feels so awkward. She prays that they donât notice.
Dia strikes a conversation with the three of them and Eli is. Vaguely aware of the topic. Theyâre talking about the mall. She can hear her replies and sheâs taking in everyoneâs words but it feels so forced. She feels a little uncomfortable. She can feel the walls of the mansion slowly closing in on them all and the air is getting a little harder to breath. When did the room get so small? Did everyone suddenly move closer to them? She glances around to be sure but thereâs quite a distance between her and the other guests who have taken seats on other various furniture pieces surrounding them.
The sensible side of her is gone and she realizes that it took very little time for her to begin spacing out again. This is hopeless. At least Dia is here to keep conversation between the four of them going.
As she thinks that Dia suddenly pauses her conversation and stands up, glaring in the direction of Kanan.
âRuby donât you DARE put on Kananâs tie! I refuse to let her cursed clothes go near you!â Sheâs pushed herself off the couch and over to them. Kanan and Hanamaru start to laugh while Ruby pushes herself into Yohane to make sure that Kananâs tie really doesnât touch her.
Eliâs eyes widen and her smile becomes a little tense as she realizes sheâs been abandoned by the one person helping her power through talking to her crushes. Nico watches Dia move in amusement and Nozomiâs lips move and words come from her mouth and- oh! oh shit, sheâs talking to her!
âS-sorry?â Eli mumbles a little helplessly. Youâve heard of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, now get ready for Eli Ayase the red faced lesbian. The embarrassed blush that lightly dusted her cheeks all night suddenly becoming a giant beacon of bright red. Â
Nozomi only smiles that lovely soft smile and Eli feels like she could melt into the damn couch.
âIs this your first Ohara christmas party too?â She asks again.
This is her chance. She can feel it- her anxiety is screaming at her but she forces it down once again. She takes in a small breath and speaks, hoping her reply is more confident than cold.
âIt is.â She says. She can feel it- her prides patting her on the back. Her brain cells kiss and cheer while her heart is beating louder and happier. She did it! She spoke to the cute girls at the party!
Now itâs time to see if she can keep the conversation going.
âThis is- Â i-itâs my first christmas party Iâve ever been to that didnât include my extended family.â She feels a little embarrassed and mumbles a little quieter âActually itâs more like the only party Iâve ever been to without my extended family.â
âReally?!?â Nico replies a little loudly but she looks very shocked- alarmed even, âAre you saying youâve never been invited to christmas parties at all?!â
âOh! No- no no. Thatâs not it. I mean-â Eli laughs a bit fumbling with her words, âI donât really go to parties at all. I get invited to things here and there but Iâve never gone to anything until now really.â
God she hopes they donât find that lame. Nico looks at her with a little disbelief while Nozomi hums. She nods a bit as if to understand something not spoken.
âI wondered- you seem like an introvert.â She says it a bit bluntly and Nico nudges her a bit as if sheâs said something offensive.
Eli kinda laughs at that. Nozomi really hit the nail on the head with that comment. She reaches her hand up to brush a strand of hair behind her ear before looking at them with an uncertain smile.
âIs it that obvious?â She asks a little sheepishly.
âOnly to Nozomi.â Nico responds immediately and reassuringly, âThis girl can read anybody like the palm of their hand- Literally. Sheâs a fortune teller.â
A cup of something has manifested itself into her hands and Eli realizes that someone has walked over to them with a tray of drinks- wait, a server?! What kind of party is this? She thanks the waiter and realizes thereâs a good amount of heat coming from the cup and the aroma of hot chocolate fills her senses and soothes her entire soul. Maybe Mari is looking out for her somehow- sending a waiter with her favourite hot beverage is definitely helping her keep this conversation alive.
She remembers the last bit of Nicoâs sentence and looks at Nozomi with curiosity and a crooked smile. A fortune teller! Thatâs pretty neat!
âFortune telling?!â She says with a voice that dies to ask more about it.
The violet haired girl laughs and waves her hand.
âItâs nothing impressive, just basic fortunes for questions about the future, careers, school,â She looks at her with this gaze thatâs somehow very different from all the ones sheâs seen before as she says the next word, âLove,â
Love. Eli wonders what kind of love fortune sheâd get if she were to ask Nozomi about it. The temptation to ask her for one is real but she knows itâd be pretty rude to ask for such a personal fortune in the middle of a party.
âThatâs amazing!â Eli decides to say, conversation finally coming easier to her. She looks to Nico with bright eyes filled with wonder, âWhat about you? Do you have any hobbies like that?â
Nico smirks and Eli swears she can see Nozomi shake her head.
âAbsolutely! Youâre looking at the soon to be number one idol Ni-â
âNICO-NII~â Mari interrupts and finishes as she puts her arms around Nozomi and Nicoâs shoulders and puts her head between them. âYou girls having a good time~? I see youâre chatting it up with Eli!â
Nico looks offended for being interrupted and Nozomi looks like she was trying to hold back a laugh. Then Nico notices it. The little plant inside Mariâs hair loop.
âMari, is that mistletoe in your fucking hair?!â
âYou bet! Now pucker up and plant one on the cheek!â She directs her to her cheek and grins. âIâm the tallest thing here and the rule is as long as youâre under it you must smooch!â
Looks like Mariâs not shy with people sheâs closer to. Eli feels a little special knowing she wasnât forced to do it while these two are. Nico, while hating it, doesnât protest and gives her a peck on the cheek. Mari then turns to Nozomi ready to tell her to do the same, but Nozomi has a different idea. Instead, Nozomi lifts her hand up to tilt Mariâs chin just a bit lower with her hand. Mari looks flustered for a brief moment, a little confused about whatâs about to happen until Nozomi plants a short, chaste kiss directly on Mariâs lips.
The party practically freezes as everyone notices The Mari Ohara has been smooched on the lips by someone who isnât Kanan. Conversation pauses and Eli wishes- oh how she fucking wishes- that she was Mari Ohara in that moment. Kanan whoops when Nozomi pulls away from Mari with a cheeky grin. Mari comes to and laughs, pushing herself up.
âDang Toujou, I wouldâve reapplied my lipgloss if I knew you were gunna go for the lips~â
âWhat can I say Marichi-â She glances over to Eli when she says this, but its brief, âIâm full of surprises~â
The small group laughs and Eli joins in, finally feeling completely relaxed in the party setting. Thereâs a blush dusting her cheeks and she lifts her cup up to take a sip of her hot beverage. She closes her eyes and lets the content feeling wash over her.
With that over Mari announces for everyone to get hyped because itâs time for the christmas karaoke contest! Mari will select four people to draw two names from a hat and the people who are picked will become the drawers teammates. Each group will choose a christmas song to sing and the team that gets the best score on the karaoke machine is the winner!
Dia, Yohane, Chika and Nico are selected to draw the names from the special karaoke hat. Yohane goes first, sticking her hand into the hat and drawing two pieces of paper. Chika follows suit, quickly picking her two. Dia dives in next and that leaves the last two names for Nico.
âOkay girls! Open it up, tell us whoâs gunna be with who! Then weâll take five minutes to decide our christmas carols before the competition begins~â Mari says with a grin.
âAh! Lily! Mari! Guilty Kiss is reunited for another year!â Yohane looks over to Mari, who brings her arm around Rikoâs shoulders and pulls her close. Riko, though mildly alarmed, smiles.
âHEY! YOU! RUBY! I GOT YOU GUYS!â Chika shouts and looks excitedly to her friends. Diaâs little sister jumps from surprise, but her eyes reflect nothing but excitement. You salutes.
Dia opens her papers and she looks mildly surprised.
âOh! would you look at that. Looks like Iâve got Hanamaru and-â her tone of voice changes as she leers at the tall festively dressed girl, âKanan.â
Kanan beams and Hanamaru claps her hands together.
âI guess that means I got you guys.â Nico turns to Nozomi and Eli with a half grin, âDonât worry- youâre both in great hands with a karaoke star like me~â
âYou say that but we wonât know until we hear the others sing now will we?â Nozomi says in a teasing tone. Nico sticks her tongue out at her and the two of them share a laugh.
Eli swallows a bit nervously as the girls disperse into their groups. Nicoâs playful expression suddenly dissolves and becomes serious. She lifts her hands and gestures for both Nozomi and Eli to come in close. Nozomi gets it instantly but it takes a few more gestures towards Eli from Nico for her to realize what sheâs asking.
âAh! Sorry!â Eli moves closer to them and huddles in close. She can feel Nicoâs arm come around her shoulder to bring her and Nozomi closer so that nobody could hear what they were saying and- is that a hint of honey? It smells like honey, cinnamon and maybe even a hint of vanilla? God, what festive scents were these two wearing?!
âOkay listen up- I knew this was happening and already demanded for the set list of songs to choose from. Mari gave them to me no problem but scanning these girls, itâs easy to see who will choose what song. So itâs up to us not to choose the same song and rock it, alright?â Nozomi and Eli nod once and Nico continues, âGreat, so I already know Mariâs for sure.â
âMy only wish?â Nozomi asks with amusement in her voice.
âMy Only Wish.â Nico confirms.
Eli blinks as she thinks of what song that is.
âOh! The Britney one!â She says, a tiny proud smile on her lips.
Nico looks almost endearingly at Eli and thereâs something about it. She feels like Nico just came to a decision somehow. She blushes a bit under her gaze and avoids looking directly into her red eyes.
âYeah, the Britney one! So, we gotta get them with something just as good and pop sounding- but not Mariah Carey.â
âEh? Why not?â Nozomi asks kind of hushed, âHow do we compete with Mariâs team if we canât sing that?â
âBecause team over there,â Nico jabs her thumb at Rubyâs group âHas the one who was talking about how itâs her favourite christmas carol so theyâre definitely going to sing that. Have you seen her? Sheâs an adorable ball of cute and thereâs no way the butch girl and the orange haired girl will say no to that.â
âAah, I see I see.â Nozomi frowns. âWell, what song do we sing then?â
Nico and Nozomi look to Eli for a suggestion and Eli kinda blanks. What could combat a wonderful pop song by famous ladies at christmas time? Certainly not an old timey tune. What kind of christmas carols do the boy bands sing around this time?
It doesnât take Eli long to think of an option.
âErm.. Maybe Beautiful Christmas by Big Time Rush? It isnât super popular, but if we use a boy band song we could have a chance.â
Nozomiâs eyebrows rise and Nico thinks about it. They ponder Eliâs choice and Nico slowly nods. She likes the idea the more she thinks about it.
âThat could work. Youâre right, itâs not popular, but I think we all know it, right?â
âYup! I remember it.â Nozomi replies, âThink we can sing it better than they can?â
âAre you kidding?!â Nico says with a smirk, âWeâre gunna make it more popular after this party.â
They pull out of their huddle and Eli giggles, unable to hide her amusement. Sheâs kind of excited to see how they do- she hasnât sung in front of a big group since her family reunion earlier this year so she hopes itâs a great time. Itâll be her first of what she hopes is many karaoke times with these girls.
The other groups are ready and thereâs a quick lottery game to decide the singing order of each group. Chika gets the longest straw, so their group will be singing first. Followed by Dia, then Mariâs and finally, them. Nico grumbles, hating her terrible luck but Nozomi pats her on the back saying the best are always saved for last. Eli smiles a bit when Nico leans into her and her chest feels warm. Their relationship is really wonderful. Part of her aches to be apart of it too, but nevertheless, sheâs content to see them happy and affectionate with one another.
The competition soon begins and as Nico predicted, the first song by their group is Mariah Careyâs christmas hit. They rock it and get a pretty decent score before handing the mics off to Diaâs team. They surprise a few people with their choice of jingle bell rock, but itâs absolutely adorable watching the older girls and the younger one jam to the tune as they belt out the words. Finishing up for the other teams is Mariâs and of course, as Nozomi and Nico knew they would, they sing Britneyâs christmas ballad to a perfect t. Their score is an all time high apparently and Dia looks as if sheâs unhappy already knowing her team is either in a hard second or an unfortunate third place. Eli wants to laugh- that girl really does get way too into the spirit of competition a little too much.
She really hopes they donât mind third place once her team takes the winning score.
The microphones are handed to the three of them. The other nine girls seem surprised by their song choice and that fuels the competitive rush that grows inside of Eli. She wonders if sheâs just absorbing some of that energy from Nico, because this girl radiates absolute confidence for their group. Their colours are chosen for the lines and verses theyâll get to sing outside of the chorus and soon the tune begins.
Being a former ballet competition dancer had its perks in her youth- she may not have been social with peers, but she learnt at a young age how to get through stage nerves. She stands with Nico and Nozomi and before long the three of them are singing along to the words. Eli gets absorbed into the moment, focusing on the lyrics and singing loudly and proudly. Her voice echoes throughout the room and while she canât pay attention to the audience, she adores how Nico faces her instead of the screen with the lyrics.
They get to the chorus and for a brief and wonderful moment, it feels like its just her and her crushes. Eli feels like the three of them are in some weird kind of limbo, singing a cheesy boy band christmas song and having a good time with just one another. They get really into their performance and Eli isnât too nervous or embarrassed at the end of it when Nico and Nozomi drape their arms around her and they laugh together.
âHoly shit! How come you never told us you could sing that great?! You were fantastic!â Nicoâs face is red from the exertion and their labored breaths are synchronized as the machine finishes tallying their score.
âOOH! We have a tie! Weâre gunna need to pick a tie breaker song!â
The three look at the machine and sure enough, their team tied scores with Mariâs. The three of them lock eyes and as a consolation prize, the remaining six girls get to decide what the tie breaker song would be. Theyâre all huddled up around the machine screen while the others wait patiently. Since thereâs only three microphones, the groups decide to do a tag team competition; two girls from each team will get to sing a part of the song together at the same time and swap out until the ending chorus, where theyâll all try really hard to sing together with their limited microphones.
Soon the song is chosen and both Nico and Nozomi push Eli up to sing the first verse against Riko. The two make eye contact briefly before the look to the screen and the words âLast Christmasâ pop up. Eli smiles. Itâs her favourite version too- Cascadaâs.
The begin to sing and Eli shows Riko no mercy. She swaps with Nozomi, high fiving her and handing her the mic as she steps up to compete with Yohane. They have a little more fun with it, bringing their mics closer and singing so competitively youâd feel like they were competing on the voice. The next verse is handed off to Nico and Mari who, albeit a little dramatically, conquer the second last verse before the rest of their teams are brought up. Nico and Mari hold their mics while the teams sing and once the song ends, the room is filled with a lot of laughter and applause.
By the end of it Eliâs contently between both Nico and Nozomi as the score is calculated and she really doesnât care. Mariâs team could keep the prizes if it meant she would continue to have this much fun alongside her crushes. Sheâs lost in the way it feels having them so close, the warmth that comes from the two of them and the pure happiness she has.
This is the best (first) party ever.
As a fun cool down they decide to sing a few more songs, with solo performances and different teams coming together. Somehow everyone convinces Eli to sing âWhere are you christmasâ and Faith Hillâs version has nothing on hers. By the end of it Nicoâs actually shed some tears and is desperately finding something reflective to make sure she didnât smear her makeup too much. She looks over and seeâs Kanan somehow comforting Dia over her loss, offering the girl a cookie cut into the shape of a santa hat.
Dia takes it and nibbles on it when Mari announces they have to make some space for the next activity. The guests get up and assist with pushing some of the furniture to the side and Kanan goes off into another room, bringing You for some assistance.
When they return they have what looks like two level changing posts- like something youâd find in a gym, sort of, and then a long, red and green decorated pole. Kanan and Mari begin to set it up and within seconds Eliâs put it all together- Theyâre all about to limbo.
There seems to be a catch when Mari comes out with a few pillows.
âGood thing we all wore sweaters we can stuff this into! otherwise Santa limbo wouldnât be as fun!â
Oh my god. Theyâre going to pretend to be santa and limbo. Eli is ecstatic- this is so much better than she anticipated the game of limbo to be and she feels like this is going to be one of the funniest games sheâs ever witnessed. Sheâs still pretty closely huddled to Nozomi and Nico and Nico wears the most sour expression Eliâs seen to date.
âThat thing is gunna look hideous under my sweater. Nozomi I donât like this.â Nico mumbles in an unamused tone.
âAww, but youâll look like an adorable chubby little elf! And who knows, you could win since youâre the shortest one here!â She laughs at her own joke and Nico glares.
âYou know what Nozomi? For that Iâm gunna kick your ass at this game.â Eli can feel Nico moving away from her and Nozomi in favour of grabbing a pillow to start the limbo.
Everyone gets a turn and the game starts out pretty great, but turns into a catastrophe the moment they set the bar lower by three levels. Mariâs heels have become her ultimate weakness as they slide out from underneath her and she lands flat on her back, her belly knocking the pole down instantly. When she gets up she trips and falls directly onto Dia, who falls right onto Kanan, who lands perfectly on the floor and cushioning the two of them from a dangerous fall. Eli makes sure to get a quick snapshot on her phone before Dia, beet red in the face, squirms out from between the laughing girls. Chika and Ruby both do the exact same thing and puff the santa belly out too much, sliding the pole off before they could bend back more. Yohane got knocked out in the first round, but she roots for her other girlfriend as she maneuvers perfectly. Kanan, Nozomi and Eli donât last longer than the first three rounds and Eli sits in the losers section with her watching as the game slowly narrows down to its semi finalists: Hanamaru, Dia, and Nico.
The pole gets dangerously low and all eyes are on Dia. Sheâs significantly taller than Nico and Hanamaru and her determination to win could end up being her downfall. Hanamaru herself doesnât look to bothered, but Nico looks. Well. Sheâs happy sheâs gotten far but she realized partially through the game that sheâs proving Nozomi is right by winning this. She pats the pillow stuffed under her sweater and turns in the direction she and Eli sit and glares at them before she goes in for another turn, clearing yet another level of the lowered pole.
When Dia goes up next, she unfortunately pulls a Mari and slips. She falls directly onto her back with a loud thud. The pole falls on top of her and sheâs booted out of the game. Eli canât hide her little giggles as Dia moves to the losers couch next to her to grumble about the game being unfair to the taller members.
âDonât sweat it Dia, you did great!â Kanan says with a positive smile.
âYeah! For one of the taller girls, you really lasted so much longer than we thought! We assumed you were going to lose right in the beginning.â Mari jokes and Dia glares in her direction.
âYou underestimate the power of a Kurosawa. Unlike Kanan here, who doesnât doubt my drive to win.â Kanan feels a bit of pride at that statement and Mari laughs.
âOho! You say that but you have yet to complete the biggest challenge of the night- giving me a kiss~â Mari points to her mistletoe and smirks, âYouâre like, the only one here who hasnât given me one! Itâs rude! This is an activity too you know! You gotta kiss under the mistletoe!â
Dia opens her mouth to object and then closes it. Then opens it again and blushes. Eliâs eyes are glued to the scene next to her and she practically forgets about Nico and Hanamaru dueling it out under the limbo pole as she watches Dia figure out what to do with the situation. She watches Dia take in her scenery, noticing Mari is behind the couch and draped between her and Kanan. Eli seeâs the look of an idea come to her and an even bigger blush forming on her cheeks and watches as Dia reaches past Mari to grab Kanan by her christmas tie, pull her in closer and plant a small kiss directly on her lips.
Mari practically falls backward, losing her footing from the imbalance of her reeling backward off the couch and not catching herself in time. She lands on her butt for a third time and she almost screams in delight. Eli beats her to it, gasping only loud enough for Kanan and Dia to hear her. She covers her mouth to refrain from making anymore noises but Nozomi and a couple others look over to see Dia pulling away from Kanan, both of their faces bright red. The corner of Kananâs lip quirks upward is disbelief and Mari pulls herself up from the ground to look at Dia in disbelief and awe.
âExcuse me!? Did I just see what I think I did?!â Mari practically shouts, catching the attention of everyone now.
Nico, who is under the limbo pole, drops to the ground from the surprise of it all and ends up losing the game (something she intends to argue about later, when the commotion has died down.) Rubyâs eyes sparkle with almost as much excitement as Eliâs do while the others look on mildly surprised and a little confused.
âYou bet you did. The rules of the mistletoe is you have to kiss someone under it. There was only Kanan under it, because youâre wearing it. Challenge won. Now excuse me.â Is all Dia says as she stands up and decides now, of all times, is the best time to use the restroom real quick (but Eli knows a gay panic when she sees one and Diaâs going to give herself a brief moment alone to do just that).
The commotion seems to fade into the background as everyone celebrates Hanamaruâs win from the limbo game. Kanan, still stunned, sits on the couch with her hand going to her lips while Mari decides to grab Hanamaru her prize before scampering off to find Dia and question her some more on those loopholes. Eli canât stop the smile on her face. Itâs huge. This is literally everything she could have wanted from a party and she feels absolutely blessed. Nozomi seems to notice and she nudges her a bit.
âHow long have you been waiting for that to happen?â She grins as she asks the question.
âSince the day I got invited to this party,â Eli admits a little sheepishly, âKanan filled me in on a lot of things and Iâve sort of been rooting for them ever since. Diaâs very inexperienced and you can tell sheâs always wanted to be some kind of thing with them. Itâs not evident, but itâs there, you know?â
Nozomi nods because she knows. She knows all too well about someone being very inexperienced and wanting to be some kind of thing with someone. She looks at Eli with a stare that says she knows a lot more than what Eli might think when it comes to inexperienced gays pinning for people. Eli continues speaking, not really thinking about her words.
âMakes me kind of envious, you know? Iâve always wanted a girlfriend and suddenly my coworker has two potential ones who want nothing more than her to be with them too.â
Great! Eli just practically outed herself to this girl in more ways than one. Her eyes widen and she can feel the colour draining from her face as she watches Nozomiâs eyes illuminate and make all the connections she really, truly hoped wouldnât happen for months after this party. The colour comes back in a full, bright santa suit red and Eli wishes she could fade into nothingness as Nozomi gazes at her. Nozomi leans closer and Eli finds herself wanting to lean back a bit, but sheâs frozen. She has no idea what to do.
âShe doesnât have to be the only one getting two girlfriends at once.â she says in a voice like a whisper, pulling back only to wink and causing Eliâs face to ignite into even more brighter shade of red.
She blinks once. Twice. Her mouth opens and she gapes for a moment. Was that correct? She heard that correctly right? She canât confirm it because everyone around them isnât paying attention to the two of them and Eliâs mind is spinning with thoughts.
âWhat.â Is all she manages to squeak out, not even in a questioning tone.
Nozomi laughs and stands up, holding her hand out for Eliâs. Eli hesitates before reaching up and taking it. Nozomi glances over to see Nico is distracted with the other kids, wanting to get a retry out of them. She pulls Eli along towards the glass doors by the refreshment table, deciding their conversation should be a little more private. For Eliâs sake, really. Eli lets herself be pulled away and as they reach the glass doors she notices Mari has returned, hand in hand with Dia and a big bright grin on her face- Something tells her that Mari got exactly what sheâs been wishing for this christmas in that time alone with Dia.
Itâs chilly outside, but not bad. Her face is so hot Eli canât even really tell that itâs cold at all. They stay a few feet away from the door, standing on the stone patio together. Nozomi lets go of her hand and turns to face her, smiling affectionately.
âIâve been trying to pin you somewhere on my gaydar- I knew you were either bi or a lesbian, but I think you just confirmed it for me.â She says it in a playful tone and Eli wishes she could just stick her head into the ground.
She feels both intimidated and relieved. Thank god her gay ass is obvious- itâs helpful for her to know this as she does try to show and express it. She does wish she had a gaydar like Nozomiâs- itâd be easier to find other lesbians and get into the gay scene.
âI wish I could read people as well as you could.â She laments with an awkward smile, âIt wouldâve saved me a lot of unwanted conversations and maybe given me the courage to try a few more things.â
âLike the ones you want to have where you come visit me or Nicocchi at work?â she canât stop her teasing and Eli almost puts her face into her hands.
âGod was I that obvious to you two?!â She almost cries and Nozomi canât stop her laughs.
âWe ended up creating a game over how many times we caught you looking over at us! Iâm in a five point lead right now~â
Eli wants to shrivel up and die. She hates this. She came to the party to have fun with her crushes, not accidentally out herself only to learn that they could tell she felt something for them the whole time.
âGod Iâm so embarrassed.â She mumbles, shyly pulling at a strand of hair that frames her face. âIf I wasnât so socially awkward I probably wouldnât have embarrassed myself this badly.â
Nozomiâs laughs have died down and she wears that warm smile again.
âWell, if you ever want more social practice, you know you can always come find me. I wouldnât mind spending a day with you helping you with social cues and how to not stare too much at girls youâre crushing on. Maybe some time after christmas when weâre both free? We could even try to rope Nicocchi into it.â
Eli laughs this time, her blush dwindling down a bit. Her embarrassment is gone seeing Nozomi is completely comfortable with this and is in fact flirting with her. She wonders what that may mean for them. Maybe she would get two girlfriends tonight too? Itâs hard to tell- Nozomi definitely seems to want to have something more with her, and whether its a friendship or a relationship, Eli really doesnât mind.
âI think Iâd like that a lot.â
Nozomiâs smile only grows as she closes her eyes and laughs. She looks relieved- kinda like she was putting herself out there asking that question. Eliâs heart beats harder, playing with the idea that Nozomi may have been nervous asking her that. She opens her eyes and Eli canât tell if itâs the cold or just embarrassment that brings the rosy pink colour to the other girls cheeks.
âItâs a date then!â She says, leaning up to plant a small kiss on her cheek.
Thereâs a loud slam on the glass door and Eli doesnât even get the opportunity to enjoy the kiss as they hear a muffled shout of âI WINâ coming from inside that sounds like Dia? They look over, their faces still close to see they have ten spectators watching them from the inside. Diaâs practically glowing with pride and has earned a few laughs from the others. Nico watches on with a smug look, raising her eyebrow at the two of them (which somehow makes Eli feel a little more embarrassed than being watched by the other girls.Itâs a mystery.)
She begins to wonder if that could be the reason why Eli was invited in the first place. If Nozomi and Nico could easily read her, then thereâs no doubt that Dia could as well. Was she really invited to celebrate the christmas cheer with everyone here, or did they set it up? Was it all just one big set up to get Eli to actually talk to her crushes? As she wonders about this with a fond smile on her features, something cold and wet lands on Eliâs hand and she looks away from the window and instead upward. Was that..?
âWas that a snowflake?â Nozomi asks aloud, also looking up.
It catches the attention of everyone inside of the building enough to get them to open the door and peer outside. Sure enough, the snowfall begins to grow and grow by the second and soon Eli and Nozomi begin to get covered in a thin layer of snowflakes. There are gasps of delight at the surprise weather change and Mari cheers excitedly, announcing that it might just be a white christmas after all. Dia, having more sense tells Nozomi and Eli to hurry inside before they become soaked.
They do so immediately, Nozomi taking Eliâs hand and bringing her back inside, where they enjoy the rest of the party at the Ohara mansion together with their coworkers, new friends and new found loves.

Riverdale Recap. Ep 10-13. Murderer Revealed & Build up to Season 2.
Hi once again to you all following my blog. I just wanna start off by saying I AM BACK and SORRY for the little hiatus but I was on holiday for a few weeks with vert limited internet and so I couldnât keep up with the Riverdale episodes. I figured it would be too much trying to catch up all four eps I missed, so now that I am all caught up Iâma roll them all into one monster recap.  Soo enjoy.
Things moved so so so super fast in these last few episodes its actually crazy. I was gasping, ooohing and aaahing through all the eps at every little twist and turn. To make this a little easier I am gonna break this recap up into characters and weâll catch up with where each of them are at the end of the first season.
Needless to say: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Iâll start with my personal favourite character and leading lady, the one, the only MISS BETTY COOPER! Since the beginning and up till now I am just absolutely ADORING Lili Reinhart in this role. Betty is amazing! I always resonated with her in the comics, and really see myself in her. What I do love in the show is the stronger and darker element that theyâre giving to Betty - in the comics she is always so sweet and innocent and âwaiting around for Archieâ but in the show she is strong, and fierce and doing things for herself which I love. I loved that scene with Betty & Jug in ep13 and the fact that their make-out session is super sexy and intense and gives another nod to the âBadass Bettyâ that has been hinted at throughout the season. I also enjoyed that Jughead is now a âSerpentâ (adore that scene where he puts on the southside jacket) and I have a feeling that these two are going to make a pretty badass power couple leading the Southside in Season 2 (Please!!) .... Also the fact that in e10 FP nods to the fact that Alice had some connection to the Serpents - Betty and her hidden dark side is not too far fetched and I think that itâs perfectly thought out writing (props to the writers!!) that Betty is with Juggie who is now also moving over to the dark side. I know Betty âactsâ upset by the fact that Jug puts on the serpent Jacket - but I honestly feel that sheâd have NO PROBLEM at all joining him on the Southside.  I have no idea what Season 2 has in store for this pair but I certainly hope we get to explore a bit more of the Serpents through them! I am also happy to see the Coopers trying to sort their family out, and get the secrets out and Bettyâs campaign for honesty instead of just an âimage of perfectionâ in the town of Riverdale.
It was also revealed that Betty and Polly have a brother out there somewhere due to a baby Alice gave up for adoption. (A part of me thinks it might not neccesarily be Halâs baby - I have a feeling FP and Alice may have had a fling back in the day). So maybe we get to meet him in the next season?
Now onto Jughead Jones.  Iâm loving the relationship with Jughead and Betty. Absolutely ship these two and think Cole and Liliâs chemistry is off the charts. I am a little disappointed in Juggies dark side but as  mentioned before, I think this could be a interesting turn of events and it might allow Betty to showcase more of her Badass side - so Iâm keen to see where the writers take this. I hope they continue the relationship and explore this dark dimension instead of this being the cause of the relationship to implode. My heart is also aching for Juggie in these last few episodes. I hate the fact that FP is framed, and being mistreated by most of the town. That scene where Jug calls his mom and it basically seems like she tells him not to bother, heâs not wanted there. *tears*. Poor JUG. I hope he finds somewhere he belongs - and from the looks of things that may just be the Southside? As I said - Iâm out on a limb here - but I absolutely CANNOT wait to see where they take this in S2.
Archie Andrews is driving me a little CRAZY in these last few episodes. Donât get me wrong. I LOVE ARCHIE. (KJ Apa is amazing. Iâm so impressed by his portrayal of this role.) But - Damn boy, youâre confused as!! I just canât handle his indecisiveness and his inability to see things through - I mean câmon heâs been in 3 little flings in the season and I still think Valerie was the best match for him. I am sorry, but I canât stand Archie and Veronica together. I thought we were staying away from the âlove triangleâ - I just donât feel the chemistry between KJ and Camilla (actually just donât feel Camillaâs character much at all more on that later).  Also the fact that he getâs with Ronnie and then the episodes are clearly hinting that there are some pangs of longing for Betty?? Or did I just imagine that??? Itâs like he wants Betty to be upset about him and Ronnie? He wants her to want him? He comes up with an explanation for his reaction, but Iâm not feeling it. I love BUGHEAD but somehow still think that Betty and Archie are endgame - so I dunno. Once again weâll have to see what S2 has in store. Having said that I do love that we get to see more of Archieâs heroism showcased in this episode with him saving Cheryl!! A super intense scene! (More on that in a sec)
Also the end scene has me devastated - FRED WAS SHOT. I am heartbroken by this! Fred is one of the best parents in Riverdale! I also hate the fact that this shooting (as the voice-over says) is âanything but randomâ. I have my ideas about who did it .... Definitely the LODGES. Itâs either Hiram because he is jealous of Fred and Hermoineâs relationship, or itâs Hermoine herself (afterall even Hiram said in a letter to Ronnie that sheâs not innocent as she seems) because Fred is refusing to sell her the business.Â
** I also want to mention I loved the song âKids of Americaâ at the school dance - I just wish it had been Josie or Valerie instead of Veronica with Archie! **
Now, letâs talk about Veronica Lodge. I am so sorry that I feel this way, because I didnât want to but I just donât feel the character that Camilla is portraying. Everything feels acted, and feels a little âforcedâ - I donât know. I love Camilla, and think sheâs gorgeous, but I just donât think that her character is the character Ronnie from the comics - it just feels like some other random character.  I do feel sorry for Ronnie however and I love the scenes with her & Betty and her & Kevin and even the Pussycats- but I donât feel the chemistry with Archie and I donât see them lasting very long. I am really annoyed at Hermoine right now - and I like that Veronica is also pushing back against her mom - Hermoine is such a manipulative b*** .  I am sorry but she is! Sheâs so fake and changing her whole demeanour now that Hiram is coming home. (On a side note - I canât wait to meet Hiram Lodge in S2. Some Archie / Hiram rivalry is gonna be an awesome nod to the comics ;) so canât wait for that!) ... and I strongly feel that she (Hermoine) is somewhat involved in Fred being shot. I donât know how exactly but indirectly or directly she is root cause of Fredâs shooting!Â
Now onto the BLOSSOMS. Talk about  a CRAZY, INSANE family. Holy guacomole!! So we finally find out who murdered JASON. With some prompting from Polly, and some discoveries Cheryl starts to doubt her parents because Penelope somehow has possession of Pollyâs missing ring (from grandma Blossom) ... Of course Penelope and Clifford have been creepy and psycho from the first episode and I have always kind of wondered about them. Turns out (thanks to a USB found inside Jasonâs jacket pocket (although I donât know how that ended up in his Jacket) it is caught on film that CLIFFORD shot his own son!! He tried to cover it up by killing the only other witness a serpent who Archie got in a fight with. FP only found Jasonâs body and put in a freezer and cleaned up with the help of Kevâs boyfriend, Joaquin. Because of this involvement though - Clifford blackmails him into making a false confession - but luckily our sleuthing Riverdale Gang are on the case and quickly prove FPâs innocence - although he is still in trouble for obstructing justice and he wont turn on the serpents.  Straight away Betty warns Cheryl that her dad killed her beloved âJayJayâ and Cheryl tells him that he did a bad thing , and every body knows.  Her father then proceeds to hang himself before the police arrive, and it is revealed that the Maple Syrup business is also a cover for drug running. More craziness is revealed in the fact that the Coopers actually are âBlossomsâ as âGreat-Grandpapi-Cooperâ vs Great-Grand-Papi Blossom feud - they were BROTHERS who turned on each other the one decided to break off from the family and become the âCoopersâ. Thats why they were so anti the Polly/Jason relationship - because they are actually related!
All the turmoil drives Cheryl a little insane and she tries to drown herself in the Sweetwater River to be with Jason. Luckily, the gang are able to save her (Archie (and actually KJ Apa! IRL) breaks his hand in the process) by punching through the ice of the river. Cheryl is still not right and says the only way to get back to normal is by starting clean - so she super dramatically, in true Cheryl Blossom style, burns their house down!!
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING SEASON. RIVERDALE - I MISS YOU ALREADY.
I look forward to season two and what more will happen with these characters and what other secrets will be exposed in Season2!

Itâs time for the biggest game of the year... again.
Tomorrow we make our way down to Baton Rouge for yet another top ten matchup on the road. Auburn will be trying to break a 20-year losing streak in Death Valley, but the task at hand this season may be the toughest one yet.
Auburn @ LSU (-12.5) (O/U 58)
I donât like this one because I am torn. On one hand, my Auburn head tells me that LSU is the home team, so Auburn is done for. My Auburn head has also seen this offense, which is weak where the Auburn defense is really good (the running game) and freaking strong where Auburn has questions (the secondary). On the other side of the ball, Auburn has the offense that can make this a shootout but will Gus be able to make the play calls to keep up with an LSU team that can hang points in bunches? The good news for Auburn is that this game is in the light and that stadium, while really dangerous, is historically different in the day time. Who knows, maybe the fans canât get SO into the sauce. Now my Auburn heart thinks that we have them right where we want them. They are undefeated and we had an off week and slept through the first half of the Arkansas game and still punished the Hogs, while LSU was ho-hum against a bad State team. I think LSU wins this one on a last gasp TD because why not but they definitely donât cover. (However, I can see Auburn pulling this out...its a long shot, but its a shot)
LSU wins but no cover, 35-31 and the over
-Drew Mac
Rainy forecast helps Auburn, I think? My head leans one way, but my heart leads the right way. Auburn 33, LSU 28.
-Josh Dub
Ugh. I just donât see a way we do this one without (a) Burrow having his worst day of the season, (2) Bo basically recreating the MSU game or 2nd half of the Arkansas game, and (d) Auburn winning the turnover battle by 3 or more. I think LSU keeps us at armâs length, but they never feel comfortable until a late front-door cover. LSU 34, Auburn 21 (LSU covers, under)
-James Jones
Ah this feels familiarâŠthe belly of the beast, the bane of Auburnâs existence, the place where dreams (along with field goals, clock management, and 20-point leads) go to dieâŠDeath Valley. This is the first time this season where what Auburn does will not completely dictate victory. As Gus Malzahn has said, LSU is extremely worthy of their ranking. This will be the toughest contest of the season for us, based on talent, scheme, and location of the game.
Keys to Victory:
Fast start on offense, particularly on the ground. Auburn is going to need to rush for over 150 yards in this game, and they cannot afford to wait until the 3rd quarter to make adjustments to figure it out. I expect DJ Williams to start seeing the ball in the 2nd half if weâre in this thing, to give us some fresh legs. So Kam Martin is going to have to get it done early.
No turnovers on the road. This goes without saying.
Average to above average play out of Bo Nix coupled by point #1 on running the football. If heâs able to do that without a turnover, Auburn will have a chance to win this game.
Get Joe Burrowâs jersey dirty. The most telling reason why LSU beat Florida was Burrowâs interview after the game. Not the interview itself, but how he looked. His hair was dry. His jersey was lily white. Dirty that thing up Saturday, because he hasnât felt real pressure all year. You donât complete 80% of your passes with consistent pass rush in your face. Time to step up, Nick Coe and TD Moultry.
Make LSU drive the length of the field. No shame in punting, but field position is going to be key in forcing some more conservative play calling out of LSUâs offense.
Catch them off guard with a special teams play/onside kick. While we need to play the field position game overall, if thereâs something on film that LSU is showing us, use it. Extend a drive.
I expect Auburn to lose this game. That being said, thereâs a part of me that feels like something is going on in Lee County this week where I donât question that we are going to show up and surprise this bunch on the Bayou. Itâs possible. Itâs not even unlikely knowing we are the most complete, and healthy, defense LSU has seen. But Iâm going with my head over my gut here. LSU 28 Auburn 20.
-Josh Black
Iâll be the first to admit that I pick Auburn a lot more than I should BUT this is the one week that Iâve told myself for weeks in which I canât do it. After being in Baton Rouge 2 years ago to see Auburn blow a 20-0 lead, Iâve wondered what is it gonna take for Auburn to win there again? And now LSU has an offense, a really good offense. They put 42 points on Florida a few weeks ago and last weekâs 36 point outing against Miss State was their lowest of the season. But their defense has a few holes in them as theyâve been susceptible to giving up points (like 38!! to Vandy). With rain in the forecast, it would be huge for Auburn to be able to establish some kind of running game. I would love for this to be a breakout game for D.J. Williams or Shaun Shivers. Also, when you get the ball to Anthony Schwartz, good things happen. Letâs keep doing that! As for Bo Nix, he didnât play well in Gainesville but hereâs another road environment that will be an extremely tough challenge for him and my hope is heâll take the lessons from the Swamp and apply them to Death Valley.
Auburn is the last hurdle that stands in the way of a potential #1 vs #2 game in a few weeks and you know what that means. Donât leave the games in the hands of the officiating. Iâm all about chaos obviously and ruining this for the SEC, BUT I havenât been able to convince myself that Auburn is going to win this weekend. I would LOVE nothing more than to be wrong though.
LSU 35 Auburn 24, LSU Wins, Auburn Covers
-James Jones
Auburn has not won in Death Valley in 20 years
Gus Malzahn is 0-9 on the road vs LSU, UGA & BAMA
Gus Malzahn is 0-2 vs Ed Orgeron
Former 5* WR Terrance Marshall is expected back for LSU while AU will be playing without starting RB Boobee Whitlow
Joe Burrow is ranked #2 in passing efficiency in the country. Bo Nix is #63
LSUâs defense is only allowing 2.9 yards per carry
Nothing about this matchup, outside of Auburnâs dominant DL, says the Tigers should win this game. LSUâs offense is built to attack Auburnâs weaknesses on defense (quick passing attack that likes to use the middle of the field) & a defense lead by a coordinator that has consistently dominated Gus Malzahn (Dave Aranda is 3-1 vs Gus with only loss happening in 2016 when AU didnât score a TD). Thatâs why for the first time all season, I have to pick agai--
Uh excuse me Takeo.. I am attempting to provide the readers here with a fair, objective analysis of Saturdayâs matchup which means that I have to pick LSU to be--
Look... I want it to happen. 20 years feels like a nice round number to end a curse. It would be a hell of a reward for the seniors that decided to pass on the NFL Draft & come back. Auburnâs DL is more than capable of giving LSU a test they havenât seen yet & AU has the offensive weapons to put some points on the board. But cmon, Mr. Spikes. Do you really think AU will go into Baton Rouge, LA & beat the #2 ranked LSU Tigers with a true freshman QB? I mean that would be ins--
DURN RIGHT! BARN HARD TILL I DIE!
Bo Nix announces himself to the CFB world that his time as an inefficient, inconsistent freshman is over & heâs here to wreck defenses. Auburnâs 5 senior OL put together their strongest performance of their careers opening up lanes for a multitude of backs leading to 250+ rushing yards. Anthony Schwartz & Seth Williams both score long TDs including a late game winner. Auburnâs D forces 3 turnovers & sacks Burrow 5+ times. DRUNK CORNDOGS CRY EVERYWHERE. WAR DAMN EAGLE Auburn 38 LSU 34
-AU Nerd
Iâve won the past two weeks and itâs because we are getting to the point of the season where chaos reigns supreme. I ride the wave of chaos better than anyone on this site, is what Iâm trying to say. Chaos itself is the primordial soup from which sprouts order, according to Nietzsche. Due respect to Friedrich, but chaos isnât a means to an end. It is the end. College football is devolving, not evolving, this season. Nothing would prove my point than for footballs agents of chaos, the Barbarians to college football Romans everywhereâyour auburn tigersâ to get out of Red Stick with a win on Saturday. Letâs do it. Auburn 31, LSU 30.
-Son of Crow
Iâve had this one chalked up as a loss since the preseason, although at that point we didnât know the quality of the LSU passing game. Sure, thereâs ways I could talk myself into Auburn winning this one. I could talk about Auburn being the best defense LSU has faced, and how their offensive line has significant problems run blocking. I could also tell you LSUâs pass defense is #42 in success rate and #47 in explosive play rate, meaning Bo could have a chance to make some plays here.
But the fact of the matter is Auburn doesnât win at LSU. Auburn fights hard and covers, but the lack of an established run game means Bo has the entire offense in his hands. 21-30 Purple Tigers.
-Ryan Sterritt
Look. Hereâs the deal. Donât count on me to give you any sort of real, tangible football analysis. I canât tell you why Auburnâs going to upset LSU tomorrow, but I can tell you that itâll happen. There, I may have ruined the suspense, but weâre at the time of the season where thereâs no need for suspense. We have to get this going now.
Things happen in this game that shouldnât. Things happen in this game that canât be explained. Things happen that go well beyond the realm of reality. National championship bids have been ruined before. Theyâve also been made before. Tomorrowâs going to give us a piece of the former. Iâm not saying that Auburnâs good enough to win the title this year, but weâre certainly going to give the Bayou Bengals a little taste of their own medicine, some thirty-odd years in the making.
Yeah, the number that everyone focuses on is the 20-year losing streak. Auburn roasted LSU, smoked cigars, sent Gerry Dinardo out of town and let them hire some guy named Nick Saban. Maybe we shouldnât have done that. A simple two-touchdown win wouldâve sufficed, and maybe that Saban guy wouldnât be around. Eh. It happened.
However, something that you canât forget is what happened on October 8th, 1988. LSU scored a last second touchdown to beat Auburn 7-6 and ruin Pat Dyeâs bid for a national championship. Win that game and Auburn probably plays Notre Dame for the title. Instead, it was a letdown game against Florida State in the Sugar Bowl. After losing, the Tigers were so mad that they shut out the next three opponents and allowed just 28 points the rest of the regular season. Weâre getting something similar here in 2019.
Bo Nix and company had to grind out a win over Oregon, and we saw flashes of what can be in the wins over Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Oregon might be the best team weâve played so far, and we did it. We won. Weâll grind one out tomorrow too. There may be turnovers, and there may be doubt, but in the second half, youâll notice a very human chill flutter through the hearts of the bourbon-drenched masses in Tiger Stadium. It ainât the liquor. Itâll be the fear and knowledge that things are slipping away. Auburn wins tomorrow. I donât know how, and I donât know the specifics, but Iâm calling it. 31-27. Good Tigers.
