okay so i think i liked it more than the last jedi, but like my brother said that wasn’t a very high bar rip

but i guess rey??????  related to palpatine?????  definitely saw that as a crack theory a few years ago, would never have thought that they actually would’ve gone with that.  i still like the theory of her as a kenobi but whatevs.  i kind of liked her saying her name was rey skywalker????  like it’s kind of like oh you can choose who your family is if your actual family is shit or a dictator, but it was still a little um...okay then.  i did like how the final shot was like that one shot of luke in a new hope, but it wasn’t exactly natural.  like why is rey on tatootine?????  is her burying luke and leia’s lightsabers like some sort of memorial/funeral thing?????  if so, why didn’t she say smth about how they can rest easy now or smth like ??????  wtf is home girl doing on tatootine

i am.  so disappointed.  with how finn and poe’s relationship unfolded like i knew they weren’t gonna make them canonically gay but still disappointed.  it also felt like part of keri russell’s character’s whole point was to make poe seem straight.  like cool we have another female character and we get some of poe’s backstory but was the flirting necessary????? but speaking of poe’s backstory, is it a bit racist to have a man of color playing a (former) drug smuggler???  genuinely asking, i’m white but now that i’m typing this out it doesn’t seem to sit too well

also finn.  finn finn finn.  why tf couldn’t we have explored his being force sensitive before the last fucking hour of the trilogy?????  like in tfa he’s constantly ending up with a lightsaber as a weapon, like that would’ve been great foreshadowing.  also what the fuck was he going to tell rey.  and why would poe have been upset about it if he wasn’t in love with finn.  why would it matter to poe that finn *might* confess his feelings for someone else if he wasn’t in love with finn.  and what does finn have to say to rey that he can’t say in front of poe?????  that he’s force sensitive???? and he thinks poe’d be mad bc poe was mad rey was spending all her time jedi training instead of being a pilot?????  @ abrams i want answers!!!!

i like....don’t even know with kylo and rey.  that’s not a ship i like at. all.  but that kiss seemed really out of place to me.  like girl you’ve spent the whole movie fighting him and yeah you’ve wanted to believe that ben’s still in there somewhere but your first response to finally realizing he’s come back is to kiss him???????????  okay then??????????????

tbh i was so happy when she stabbed him in the stomach but so mad she healed him, like good for her for being a good person i guess and yeah he saved her life later so okay then

speaking of awkward gray zones and racism WTF WAS ROSE IN THIS MOVIE.  WHERE WAS SHE.  WHAT WAS SHE DOING.  i’m so mad d*sney gave in to racist shitheads’ complaining about her and just sidelined rose, it would’ve made so much sense for her to go with the others if the falcon is on the fritz because hello, she’s a fucking mechanic but noooo we can’t have nice things because people on the internet are racist fucks.  i hope kelly marie tran has an amazing career after this bc she fucking deserves it.

i did like the other new girl, jannah i think???  she seems cool, and now i want lando to adopt her pls.  also when she shot down that flying thing with just a bow and arrow??  so hot.  i love her.

i was not expecting them to do anything more with han, though.  like i wonder if they would’ve had leia do that scene with kylo if carrie had still been around.  although i must say, when ben was like “dad” and he was struggling to say i love you i guess (ugh men, just fucking say what you mean), and then han was like “i know” :(((((

speaking of leia, i loved her lightsaber design but it was a little weird that they waited until the last fucking movie to mention that she had any jedi training whatsoever.  like.  really?????  it’s just so painfully obvious that whatever plan they came up with when planning the sequel trilogy was not good or detailed

anyways.  oscar isaac is hot, women are hot, i would die for leia and carrie fisher, and i’m leaving things there.
