trying to get a job with disabilities is so hard bc everywhere wants to say they’re ‘disability friendly employers’ but that means they’ll give you ‘reasonable accommodations’ once you’re already through the door. It’s not considered in hiring practises. like not even interviewing people with disabilities bc they don’t have an internship is such a hilarious manifestation of ableism bc like. the reason I didn’t do an internship was bc of my disability ..

#not to mention that job i got rejected from bc of a glorified personality test #like as if my ‘workplace preferences’ (and it was like whixh statement best applies to you) and self perception aren’t impacted by disabilit #like I’m not saying I should get jobs out of pity but it’s like #I’m not competing at the same level as my peers and I know I’m a relatively ‘high functioning ’ disabled person #but I hate that label bc it’s so misleading #like I need so much to be able to function and even my functioning is at so much more personal expense than for my abled peers #it’s just so exhausting and demotivating #especially with the perpetual self doubt abt whether I’ll be able to hold a Job down longterm in the first place #and like I’m estranged I don’t have backup money I need to work to live ..#and I’m in the process of getting diagnosed with another chronic health condition it’s just so..
