So. Had a silly realization. AUs where things are just all around better for Felix's life, and he's in a healthier place and less awful, have the same major change as an AU where everything is worse for Kaz.

Not leaving home.

Felix gets to grow up normally in the relative lap of luxury that being a prince in the winter court offers. He's either a gadabout rake getting up to largely harmless trouble, or he's fully leaned in to being a performer and an organizer, running a bar not dissimilarly to his old cover job, but he gets to actually do that.

Meanwhile a Casimir that never leaves home is a miserable fucker. Repressed, stressed out, probably has a better pain tolerance cause he definitely gets more reckless. The kind of deeply in denial and isolated person who'd let his former high school bully fuck him in secret and call him slurs in public. Just straight up not having a good time.

Home represented such very different things to them both.
