Note: It's been over two years since the last time I posted something here. I hope you enjoy this piece, and that the translation is correct since I'm not very good at English. <3

He was there, just a few meters away, but he didn’t seem like himself. He didn’t look like him, didn’t sound like him, and didn’t even smell the same. He was simply unrecognizable.

Vi’s heavy hand rested on your shoulder, pulling you out of your thoughts. You looked at her, searching for answers, but she only stared at the massive creature lying on the ground.

“Are you sure it’s…”

“Completely.” Vi didn’t let you finish your question. She released your shoulder and approached the giant, who lay asleep a few meters away. She gently touched its back. The beast stirred uncomfortably, but upon seeing the young woman, it relaxed. “I have no doubt.”

You stepped closer, slowly, afraid your approach might alert the massive being, but it kept its back turned.

“Just look at him, and you’ll understand.”

The creature hunched over, trying to appear smaller (an impossible feat), and took a cautious step forward. You stepped back, which made him freeze in place.

Finally, the immense creature turned, and you saw him. He wasn’t how you remembered. He didn’t look like the man you’d fallen in love with in the Lanes, the one you’d shared most of your life with, built a family with. But without a doubt, it was him.

“Vander?”

Your mind raced, struggling to comprehend everything that was happening—how your husband, the man who had died years ago, was now back in a body that wasn’t his own.

You remained silent, unable to respond. Your brain kept trying to process everything, but no answer came. Vi, still enraged, was about to say something else when a loud snort stopped her.

Seeing that you wouldn’t come closer, Vi stepped in again.

“I know he looks different, but I swear, this is Vander. He remembers us.”

“How is this possible?”

“We’re not sure, but you have to trust me.”

“I searched for his body for months. I didn’t… I didn’t find anything—”

“That doesn’t matter anymore!” Vi snapped, furious. “He’s here now. We can help him; we can bring Vander back! How can you not be happy?”

The massive creature that had once been your husband took another step in your direction, but this time, you didn’t back away, so he kept advancing. Panic gripped your chest with every step he took, the fear that touching him would wake you up in your apartment, drenched in tears.

When he finally reached you, he lifted one of his enormous hands and gently brushed your cheek, wiping away the tears that had begun to stream uncontrollably.

“Is this real?” You looked into his eyes. “Please,” you begged. “I don’t want to wake up.”

Vander didn’t dare touch you again, fearing you might run away, but you couldn’t stand it any longer. You buried yourself in his chest. He hesitated for a moment but finally wrapped one massive arm around you, lowering his face to your head and inhaling deeply.

“You’re real,” you murmured through your sobs, unable to believe it.

“I’m here,” he said in a deep voice, squeezing you gently with the arm that held you close.

Anyways, I'm happy with the glow effect x)

So yeah some info on this guy, in this "what if" scenario he basically is the garbage man of the multiverse, while C Pep creates the different worlds C Maurice fixes the anomalies and gets rid of eldritch beings inside the mortal realm

At the beginning of the story he blew up with Pepino (which gave him the scar on his arm and face) while trying to say something like "U suck Peppino" with his hand on his bro's shoulder

And after resurrecting as a cosmic entity he had a fight with Peppino for quite a long time, like centuries long

They eventually stopped when they realised their powers are even, took some time to think and talk properly

And they were basically like "Oh shit we really just died hating eachother, that stinks" and had a wash of fear at the thought of never seeing their family again, so they became closer than ever... well as close as they can get...

Funny stuff, he has a bunch of little martiens in his hair, he created them but he doesn't know when, he let them live, as long as they don't bother him

If they do he will launch a cataclismic event known as "The great swipe", he litteraly just scratch his scalp and they're all gone

But he wouldn't do that, having a bunch of little feeble beings that depend on you reminds him of his son, so he grew quite attached to those little green men

hehe I like to imagine he gives little names to his liker bottles, he's so lonely poor guy

He's not apreaciated at all in the cosmic realm, he's basically a big creepy guy that uses his force to boss creatures around, most beings prefer his brother (Peppino is not kinder tho, he's just less bossy)

Also his relationship with C Pep is a very tought one, he holds his bro dear sure but he often argues with him for more or less important subjects, such as his (non-existing) popularity among eldritch beings, the menu on today's dinner and who get's to be called the god of the multiverse (Noise loves filming their fights, always quite the spectacular show)

But remember, they don't hate eachother, they just have arguments every now and then, just like real sibblings lol

They enjoy eachother's company

Heya!! Just got to sift through the artbook as it arrived a few days ago and i am absolutely IN LOVE with the art, blown away by the concepts and character art– all of it is fantastic and delicious food for the noggin, esp as an artist myself, and a horse + wild west enjoyer. ^v^)o In essence: 10/10, yall outdid yourselves! 

I also had some questions, if it's okay, (no pressure or anything)– but I was interested in maybe making a character for the world (if we can do that sort of thing); and I am absolutely enraptured and fascinated by the concept of “Boltslayers”, and I love, love, love the Lightning fish. (Big monster/creature design enthusiast so i adore them snbgdhjndgh)

1: are there any kind of specific pegasi that Boltslayer pilots would use/ride for that sort of thing? Or is it up to the pilots discretion/preference? (i.e: if longwings would be preferred for speed and maneuverability for example!)

2: I'm also super curious if Boltslayers hunt Lightning fish to keep their populations in check, and/or if it's like an actual career (as actual big-game hunting), or if it's more or less a ‘’hobby’’ for some, as a way to get some extra coin or whathaveyou. 🤔

Heck yeahhh! Boltslayers are fun! One of the characters in the upcoming comic is a boltslayer. Here's a sneak peek of her -

Yes! Broadwings, certainly. Within that class, there are a few breeds that do exceptionally well like firefoot and deepwood broadwings (Sniper above and Semrah below are both deepwood broadwings).

These broadwings have extreme tenacity and focus. Just as important is the bond between pilot and pegasus. Both have to 100000% trust each other with zero doubts because when you're hunting lightning fish, doubt means death. Any pegasus that has those qualities can be used in a hunt.

2. Boltslayers most often hunt lightning fish as a job. The payday for felling a LF can be massive and can be residual as long as the LF is being harvested. Boltslayers work with trusted merchants who manage the harvesting after the LF is down, and collect the boltslayer's cut of the materials sold over time. So boltslayers don't have to hunt very often.

There are some who hunt for sport, but the majority of boltslayers see the sport hunters as posers and will avoid them. To a *real* boltslayer, pitting yourself against a LF will result in a death: you or the LF. Risking your life for sport is seen as stupid and disrespectful to the LF, who will throw everything it has at you. Why waste a whole LF for your own glory? Even if the LF is harvested, a sport kill is seen as cheap and distasteful. If you're a sport hunter, good luck trying to find a team that'll hunt with you.

That said, all boltslayers are crazy daredevils in some respect. Hunting LF is incredibly dangerous and difficult. It takes a certain kind of person to master it. Boltslayers like to spend time at Fen's Ascension and practice their skills in "mock hunts", where you're really just playing chicken with young LF and don't actually engage in a hunt to kill. This can be done alone, where as real hunts are done in teams.

Mark Grayson, aka Melee Mark/Meleevincible, is a complicated creature. He got his powers at 17 after breaking a brick to get his second-degree black belt, which he was naturally excited about. Gaining his powers not only meant newfound freedom, but also gave him a chance to prove himself to his father.

Being that he's a "superhero", Nolan wasn't around much at all during Mark's childhood. This left Mark feeling the constant need to fight for his father's attention, additionally making him very insecure and anxious he was failing his father for not having powers throughout his childhood. Mark has major separation anxiety (and is just,,,an anxious person in general) which unfortunately seeps into his future friendships and relationships.

Mark didn’t have many friends growing up, partially because of Nolan’s absence and the pressure of being the “son of Omni-Man.” He was often left alone while Debbie worked, leaving him a lonely, curious kid who tried to fill the void with martial arts, comic books, and training. This planted the seeds for his discipline—but also his desperate need for approval and connection.

Mark got into martial arts young, not to fight, but because it gave him structure, control, and a sense of pride. He wasn’t super strong at age 7, but he was very determined. His instructors became his first true mentors—people who recognized his efforts without conditions.

In terms of his relationship with Debbie, Mark loves her fiercely. Mark’s relationship with his mother is one of the most stabilizing forces in his life. While Nolan was frequently absent under the guise of “hero work,” Debbie was the one who raised Mark, taught him empathy, and fought to preserve his sense of right and wrong. She’s sharp, resilient, and deeply perceptive—traits that made her suspicious of Nolan’s increasingly cold and authoritarian parenting once Mark gained powers. Though Mark struggles to speak up for himself, Debbie’s presence plants seeds of doubt in Nolan’s methods, and reminds Mark of his own values. Her belief in his goodness often clashes with the version of strength Nolan tries to instill in him, creating tension but also giving Mark a moral compass he clings to—even when things get...complicated, to say the least.

Afte gaining his powers, Mark starts to shadow his father a lot more and copies Nolan's every move, regardless of how questionably moral it may seem. When he first gets his powers, Mark is elated. He finally feels like he matters—but this feeling is fragile. Every time he’s praised by Nolan, he’s euphoric. Every time Nolan disapproves, it wrecks him for days. Mark imitates his father’s tactics without fully understanding them—like using excessive force or intimidation. This leads to a few public moments where he goes too far, and afterward, he isolates himself, riddled with guilt.

I imagine there'd eventually be a breaking point for Mark where he finally decides he needs to stick up for not just the innocent lives, but himself too. Nolan puts Mark through brutal, emotionally detached training. It's under the guise of preparing him for “real threats,” but in truth, it’s also a test of Mark’s obedience and potential loyalty to the Empire. Deep down, Mark knows he’s being conditioned to normalize harm and moral compromise...he just doesn't want to believe that the image of his father that he's internalized since childhood is fake.

Everything finally comes to a head during what would be episode 8 if this were adapted into a series. Nolan ends up going too far—ordering Mark to hurt or kill innocents. Mark hesitates, but after hearing how Nolan talks about the humans and how they're beneath him, even Debbie, he disobeys and tries to save them. That’s when everything starts to unravel: it's his first real rebellion, and shit it does not feel good in the moment. Nolan and Mark fight, Mark being a bit stronger than his prime counterpart bc of his 10+ years of martial arts training, but still gets a brutal beating before Nolan abandons his post.

"You want one?" She presents me a packaged snack. I recall the familiar colors. Used to eat these when I was a kid... Caramel-filled donut, typically glazed with strawberry-flavored cream. There would be other variants, but I would always pick the strawberry one.

Inevitably, it lost the flavor. More like, I lost my sense of taste. It was boring and uninteresting like every other snack, and it's not like I haven't tried. I'd avoid my favorites as much as I can to forget what it felt like to eat them, and eventually, I'd try again. Three bites, then I'd throw it away if it wasn't of great healing value.

And this weirdo. She keeps offering me food.

"Why do you keep feeding me? I don't want this," I decline. I DON'T want it, it's true. What hunger would it satisfy? I only function because this world apparently forces me to. But she insists.

"Just eat."

What the hell is wrong with her? Wasting so much money on feeding a plant... It's not just an offer every now and then, it's all of the time. She buys snacks for me, she saves a third of her dinner for me... Even Frisk is beginning to copy her, it's annoying.

"Why don't you give this to someone who actually NEEDS to eat? I'm a flower, you know?"

"I know."

"Uh-huh?"

"So? You have a mouth, and teeth, and a tongue. They're there for something, right?" She drops the little bag next to me. What a stupid thing to say. She orders her food online unless forced to leave her room to go outside like a normal healthy person, doesn't mean her legs are useless.

Nonetheless... Arguing with her would be a waste of time.

"Maybe they're here to eat people." I comment, picking up the snack.

"I wouldn't doubt it." She leans on the table, as if waiting for me to take the first bite and see my reaction.

It's disturbing to be observed by a faceless creature so often. A human, they call her. She's as real as the gray phantoms of Hotland... I wouldn't remember it to care, but if the world ever repeats itself, she wouldn't be here. And she knows it.

I wonder what it would've been like. If she didn't exist in this happy reality. Nothing would change, I presume. The extra room in Toriel's house would be empty, but, that's about it. She said she would leave after summer passes, to her home, very far away from here. Nobody would really remember her.

"Hmm!" I surprise myself as if I never ate this donut five thousand times before. "Wow. It's not that bad."

"I can tell. Your little face lit up."

Sometimes, I feel as if she was meant to be here, scrutinizing my being to no end, making me pay for my sins by feeding me all sorts of things just to see what I say, react, feel about them. I put up with it. When summer ends, she'll be gone as if nothing happened.

We talked to the stars of the new animated movie Madagascar. The film is about some animals from New York City's Central Park Zoo who suddenly find themselves stranded in the wilds of Madagascar, an island of the coast of southern Africa.

On-screen best friends and real-life pals Ben Stiller (near right, who plays Alex the lion) and Chris Rock (far right, who plays Marty the zebra) talked to us about their characters.

Nickelodeon Magazine: What is your character like? Ben Stiller: Alex is sort of the king of the Central Park Zoo. He enjoys being the main attraction and would be happy for things to always stay the same. Chris Rock: Marty is the adventurer of the group. He's not content in the zoo. He's the guy who asks, "What more could we be doing with ourselves?"

Nick Mag: Are you at all like your character? Ben: A little bit. [Like Alex,] I'm a New Yorker and a creature of habit. I like the comforts of home. And Alex is sort of an actor. He's a performer who has the self-delusional, self-involved thing that I think every actor can identify with. Chris: [Like Marty,] I always wanted to get away from where I grew up.

Nick Mag: What was the hardest thing about recording your lines? Ben: The time frame was crazy. It was like, "Wow, we're still doing this? They were serious about [this taking] four years?" At one point, I felt like all I ever said was "Marty!" Literally, for years. Chris: "Am I white with black stripes or black with white stripes?" How many times did I say that?

Nick Mag: Do you ever feel caged up, like you're in a zoo? Ben: Sometimes, when you're not happy on a movie set, it can be like that. Chris: Yeah, movies can be like that. Ben: I remember doing a movie once where, on the first day of rehearsals, I realized, "Uh-oh, this is not good." And I had four months to go.

Nick Mag: Did you do research for your role? Ben: I ate a bowl of Frosted Flakes because of Tony the Tiger, and then I realized I was playing a lion and that I was really off.

Nick Mag: Favorite movie snack? Ben: I'm a big M&M's guy—peanut or plain. Chris: Popcorn and Raisinettes, but I wish they served banana cream pie!

Nickelodeon Magazine: What is your character like? Jada Pinkett Smith: She's like the mother of the gang. She wants to make sure that everybody is happy and taken care of.

Nick Mag: Are you anything like her? Jada: I have a real loyalty to my friends, just like Gloria does.

Nick Mag: Was the recording process hard? Jada: It was pretty challenging. You have to be really patient. You don't have the other actors there, there are no props, and you don't know what the scene looks like. It's just you and some paper with words on it.

Nick Mag: Do you have any pets? Jada: I have three dogs and a cat. And I'm about to get three more dogs!

Nick Mag: Do you like the outdoors? Jada: You have to be very cautious, but I love the wild. My intention for the next couple of years is to do more camping and go whitewater rafting in the Grand Canyon.

Nick Mag: Are you freaked out by nature at all? Jada: Not at all. Insects are the only things that kind of freak me out, but I can get used to them.

Nick Mag: Favorite movie snack? Jada: I usually do a mixture of popcorn and Goobers. Now I want some!

David Schwimmer talked to us about his character, Melman the giraffe.

Nickelodeon Magazine: What is your character like? David Schwimmer: Melman is a hypochondriac. he's afraid of almost everything and needs a lot of attention.

Nick Mag: Are you at all like him? David: I'm the opposite. My character couldn't be happier having bars around him so that nothing can get in. Personally, I'd go crazy. I'm low maintenance. I like not having a routine. Also [unlike Melman], I have to be forced to go to the doctor.

Nick Mag: What other kind of animal would you like to play? David: A black panther. There's something powerful and mysterious about it. It's got those green eyes and the sleek black coat. It would also be fun to be a water creature, like a dolphin. [Zelda the roving reporter: You're already a good Schwimmer.]

Nick Mag: Do you ever feel like you're in a zoo? David: I waited tables for seven years at restaurants where I felt like that. I also had a crummy job working in a tiny room in the business center of a hotel in Chicago in a suit and tie from six AM to six PM.

Nick Mag: Do you have any pets? David: I don't. I travel too much. But I had many animals growing up—dogs, a lizard, turtles. I love turtles. Their only protection is hiding—I love that about turtles.

Nick Mag: Favorite movie snack? David: There's no substitute for good, fresh popcorn.

i'm SO happy that the venetos got a happy ending. it's really sweet that the chief has a better relationship w his family,,, none of that verbal abuse or anything anymore,,, so sweet look at them,,,

if more time was spent on this arc it would have been nice to see that gradual change and realization that he's been treating them poorly, but seeing as we're hitting endgame stuff it makes sense that this buffer arc was a shorter sweet redemption,,, it was nice,,, i ended up happy about it in the end nodding emoji

You have Bruce, who didn't get to meet happiness enough, but who hasn't felt so much injustice that it breaks him as a hero. From the old here's the approach. Fighting to the end, family confrontations, darkness deep inside Bats. Plus some roles.

On the other hand, the status quo changes in the sequel. And the third part breaks the pattern of Batman's constant pursuit of purpose. Murphy's whole world is about legacy. You understand why Wayne became like this. Why Alfred had to die. Why Harley isn't a villain anymore. Speaking of motivation, there's a lot of thoughts here about the functions of the cape. As well as the relationship of the Knight's legacy to society. That's why we need Sean in his entirety. Curse, Beyond, Presents...you got it!

It was surprising even to me. Batman: Soul of the Dragon sees the difference between obsession and striving. Not much Wayne here, but you can see how the boy who doesn't know how to stop turns this around in his favor. Number two is "Closed for the Holidays". It's very easy. Being Batman is cool. He really loves it. He's found happiness because of it. Why delete it? Wayne on vacation is boring.

Briefly, because we had a conversation about it. You introduce Batman separately from Bruce to then make them one. You see him making Robin's life better by believing in her. Not by dragging her down into his dark world. But it's also trauma, and you see the results of living without fully analyzing yourself. You can see the obsession beneath the smile. Batman: Creature of the Night is the best jumping point. It's talented, so kind.

Part Three. The new is a mirror of the old.

I know what you're thinking. Oh, this guy just took the happiest versions. He's really not very smart person. But that's not my point.

Batman: Universe works because Bruce is really enjoying the ride. Batwheels is about family. He's healthy and the best dad to his kids. Batman'66 has an epic poem about Wayne loving life. He respects the Law so much that he's willing to go to jail to prove that the system works. You say it's an obsession. I'll say no, because he knows he'll be free soon. The idea is not to save the system at all costs. It's about Faith. And he trusts even the Joker. Everyone can change.

And of course you have all those funny, little ridiculous, and loving heartfelt Batman stories from the Golden, Silver, Bronze ages! And we've been here before, really? Check it!

I loved Adam because he was Batman in the real life. He loved the fans, he helped the kids. However, he wasn't Dark because...well, it's not just the series' vibe. Now you know why I chose that title for the post series. I know there's a lot of pain in Batman. And I love him for it, because I've been well aware of what it means to feel pain since I was a kid. I know when you're alone. When the world is trying to destroy you. I love Bruce's battle. But you always do it for someone. I mean, he really didn't believe in himself much. He didn't die just because the mission was more important than him. More important than the man. Than human body.

So when he found his first Robin...and then another. When he found Helena, when he met Stephanie, when he helped Gotham Girl...he realized which things really matter.

When I think about his story, I see that it's different. But every variation of it protects us with absolute loyalty. Adam is amazing because he made it fun. Funny gadgets, clever tips, memorable look. He was perfect!

He was showing love for Humanity. I mean, it was like the comic books, but without the dark violence. That's why he's so important.

Speaking of equally important people. The first thing, @beerrej did was help me with good advice on choosing titles and individual phrases. She kept this cycle going and it took +/- month for writing. Thanks, Lima!

It’s been a while since I did some info dumping about Morgan. I’ve literally never stopping rotating her and Astarion in my brain, I just haven’t been posting about it.

Thinking more about my post Netherbrain story, and I'm rewriting it so that God Gale becomes a more involved figure and kind of antagonist in their lives.

After the events of the game, Morgan and Astarion journey to the Underdark to help out with the new vampire fortress. She asks Jaheira to set up the legal process of selling Cazador’s belongings and property while they’re gone; easily done through their contacts with the Guild. Unfortunately, they have no home in BG at the moment other than rented rooms, as her shop/house got destroyed in the fight.

While in the Underdark, Astarion works with his siblings to set up some kind of structure for the vampires there, and Morgan works in the society of brilliance for a time, until a few years pass down there. They end up living in Lenore’s old wizard tower, and as a favor Barcus arranges for some ironhand gnome artisans to help fix it up and make it a proper home with furniture.

But after a few years, it really starts to affect Morgan’s mental state, being away from the sun. She has access to the daylight spell, but it’s not enough of a substitute for the real thing, and she falls into a deep depression. She loses her motivation to leave the tower most days, becoming listless and sleeping away the hours. Astarion, concerned for her health, convinces her to move back to the surface with him, even though it means he’ll be limited to being indoors during daylight hours.

In their absence, Jaheira used some of the massive amounts of gold from selling Cazador’s property to build a proper home in the newly rebuilt upper city; ready for them to move right in. They have a little bit of cute domestic time here; Astarion is a total house husband and rules over their household staff with an iron fist because he likes being master of the house. He also likes having nice things and a nice home in the city and not being surrounded by gross undead/underdark creatures. AND they’re treated like heroes, because they are.

And also rich! Astarion is very happy here.

Then, Gale starts calling on them. He really wants Morgan for his chosen, both for the personal reason of maybe some unresolved feelings, but also just the practical fact of adding a very powerful sorceress to his flock. His influence is still new and lacking reach, and the hero who raised an army and personally killed a Netherbrain being among his followers would certainly attract more souls into his faith. He tries to court her interest, but she is uninterested in being his champion. Morgan doesn’t have strong ambitions that he can tap into; she just wants to relax and enjoy her life and go wherever her whims take her. And right now her whims are entirely wrapped up in her vampire.

Astarion however, is very very much full of ambitions. And Gale starts to see the way to Morgan leads through Astarion. 😱

I'm going to save that for a different post though. I also want to draw some of this! I just need to organize these ideas into some scenes.

imagine a world much like your own but with gargoyle security guards and troll landlords and elves and mermaids and monsters and fae and whatever else you nerds can think of

and as it turns out their problems aren't that different from yours

i said this would be an animated show (2D bc i like cartoons.) it will at some point hopefully, but i fear i can not animate at this point in my life (as in i am supremely bad at it), and i'd like to get a bit better at drawing and work on having a more consistent style before i really get to animating

also im significantly better at traditional art than digital so that's unhelpful but thats mostly an experience thing

oh also i want it to be a musical yeah i didnt mention that before

it was inspired by indie shows i've seen on youtube (largely Hazbin Hotel (yes i know its not a great show but it wasn't all bad either. it was a start and it demonstrated what indie animation is capable of even at its not-best. i am choosing to learn from it and give something better to the world instead of just going "wow guys this shit sucks") bc indie animation in general is so cool and i will support a studio with a dream over a money-hungry giant any day of the week (cough cough fuck you disney cough cough)

Nema (she/her)

the neurodivergent experience but she's a mermaid

the sweetest person you'll ever meet but can on occasion be absolutely savage

kinda shy and a bit odd but can do a good yap once u get to know her (chat shes me)

Nema's visions have been there for as long as she can remember. They've always set her apart. Made her special. She doesn't know where they come from. No one does. But she's always seen things beyond what is possible for anyone else she's ever met.

Oh, the things she would do for them to just go away and let her be normal.

But maybe, if they're pointing her in the right direction—which she has a better feeling about than usual—she can make some friends here.

I was only bullied a little bit as a kid (and I kind of deserved it cause I was lowkey a pick me), but the real problem was the feeling of seemingly arbitrary otherness. Nema is for the neurodivergent kids who never fit in and never really understood why being different was so terrible a crime.

We all know what a classic mermaid looks like. I like it when they're a bit more "mer" and slightly less "maid," though, so she's got more fins and gills and such. She's also got nice huge eyes for seeing in the dark and also accidentally staring at people when she zones out (real, girl, real.) She's a cutie patootie and I love her.

Lynx (she/her)

Lynx is a cat lady with a temper and a bone to pick with capitalism. But she's got shit to do. She doesn't have time to worry about the fact that she hasn't felt refreshed since that one nap she took when she was, like, eleven. Time is moving too fast, and all she's got now is two jobs, a shit ton of of paperwork, and a giant tree full of a bunch of fellow brokies and a faerie—can fae be broke? Lynx doesn't think Shailyn even knows what money is. Whatever. She guesses her new roommates aren't so bad.

ADHD is always depicted in media as this silly quirky "oopsie poopsie I forgot to get toilet paper at the store because I got distracted by a shiny dinosaur balloon" thing (although I probably would do something like that.) As someone who (probably—I'm not diagnosed but I've done my research, and I show a lot of the symptoms) has real struggles related to ADHD, it's important to me to raise awareness for it and other forms of neurodivergence, especially for adults and women with ADHD.

Take one look at any cat and tell me it doesn't have ADHD. And so I give you Lynx.

Zing (pronouns? yeah those r cool lol)

Zing is a shapeshifter who lives to be the center of attention everywhere they go, and that works out pretty well—who wouldn't love them? They go wherever looks the most interesting and do whatever fuels their main character energy—and if that means going to live with with a bunch of randos in an old tree, hell yeah. Besides, the elf guy's hot.

Zing is one of those characters who sounds fun and crowd-pleasing and tropey. That is probably true. But there is a whole lot going on under the surface, and I'll let all that speak for itself.

Also genderfluid representation! Again, something I share with a character and further proof that writing is fancily projecting and each of these characters is a piece of my soul.

Zing likes to experiment with fashion and hairstyles a lot, which is tough to keep up with as far as creating different designs. They're a shapeshifter, though, so of course they take advantage of that. They have giant ears for no other reason than that they can have a bunch of earrings and look super badass. Also I'm really proud of the hands on this drawing. I'm one of those people who don't really use references (I know, I know, but I genuinely just forget to 😭) but somehow I'm not the worst at drawing hands sometimes (this is the one drawing I got to do good hands in. That's why Sal has his hands in his hoodie pocket.)

Small note: shapeshifters in media sometimes piss me off because their limitations are not clearly or consistently set. I, the nerd I am, have thought all of this through. Continuity!! If you'd like to hear more what the limitations of shapeshifting are, let me know and I'll post my nerd stuff.

Shailyn (she/her)

Shailyn is a Celtic faerie who knows very little about the human world. She barely has any contact with other creatures in her realm, but, so far, she's been content with her occasional tricks and lack of real social interaction outside the circles of the fae. However, that all changes when an intriguing bunch of weirdos move into the old tree on the edge of the forest, and suddenly she's making friends.

Since she's a Celtic faerie, I always include some swirlies and swoopy shapes. Her design has a long way to go (you can probably tell I'm still experimenting), and it's kinda hard to see the details since I don't know what I'm doing. Her branch antler thingies and wing-cloak thing are always there, though. Also since I wanna get her animated, she's gonna have to have a more consistent and minimally confusing design. She's getting there.

Sal (he/him)

You'd think Sal is the tall, dark, and brooding stereotype. And he kind of is. But that trope pisses me off, so we're doing it realistically and with warmer colors. The man has ✨issues✨ and a very unhealthy dose of generational trauma and we love him. But there's a little something called character growth and development which is really important in this series and basically the whole reason I started writing it.

For his design, obviously he's tall and pointy-eared. He wears a lot of dark colors because of his remaining aforementioned emo phase. There isn't really much else I can say other than the fact that it was way too difficult to make him not wonky. He's not supposed to be wonky. Elves aren't wonky. Whatever.

The BIONICLE world has a canonical...hell?

Oh yeah, that's A Thing. I had been toying with that as a Fun Fact, but I kind of assumed we were all like

But I'm happy to hear I can put this back on the slate! So! Today You Learned about Karzanhi!

In BIONICLE, the main inhabitants of the world are these worker fellows called the Matoran, (the people the Toa protect) and they need to keep working for their world to keep functioning (this seems dystopian to me, but the story kind of glosses over that).

The Matoran have this legend that if you're a very good little worker you're sent to Artakha, a divine workshop island kingdom ruled by an entity also known as Artakha. They would work in this ultimate workshop with Artakha to create cooler gadgets and buildings than anywhere else in the world.

But if you're a bad little worker, you're sent to Artakha's brother, Karzanhi. There bad little workers go to his dark kingdom, and are never seen again...

Obviously we have Heaven and Hell parallels here. In the actual story, most of the characters don't believe this is real. In one book, the heroes come across an evil vine creature that's named Karzanhi after the legend.

But then a bit later we find out that Karzanhi is totally real...

Except... he's kind of a doof. See, bad workers weren't sent to his kingdom as punishment, they were sent because Karzanhi's job is to fix them (these are bionic beings, remember?). The idea was Matoran who were bad workers because they needed some kind of repairs were sent to his kingdom for him to repair and send back. But Karzanhi was garbage at his job, so instead of sending them back after "repairing" them, he just sent them away, or kept them in his own kingdom. The reason Matoran never came back was because he was hiding his own shoddy work.

In fact, he also doesn't realize anything exists outside of his own work. When the heroes pass through his kingdom trying to get to the Plot, he doesn't believe that they're saving the world because as far as he knows, the world is just peachy! When he finds out from them how bad things are, he decides to take a hand in world events himself. And predictably, screws things up even worse.

So, I made a post in this Epic fanclub community not too long ago, asking if anyone wanted to see my designs of Gods & Goddesses we didn't get to see in Epic

Well, I'm happy to say, I finally finished one design (After many trial & errors, forgetting alot of things, redoing her design too many times, & the old file being too big to post one time). & we're starting off strong

I gotta say, I am so happy she turned out this well, & that I was finally able to show her off to everyone

She's so pretty, I love her

& also as a surprise, I'm also gonna explain my own little headcanons & facts about my designs, as well

Amphitrite usually has a really gentle seafoam smell

She's very big on family

Her headcanon voice, or what I imagine it to be, is Lydia the bard. So, yes, this means Amphitrite canonically has a British accent when she's not singing

She's actually a sucker for astrology & loves constellations

Her dress is an open back dress, it's just that the angle doesn't really do it justice TwT

The seashell clip was a gift from Poseidon

She's usually pretty friendly, cheerful, & innocent, but when she's mad, she's TERRIFYING

Her eyes are like lapis lazuli gems (Not to be confused with the SU character, even though I love her)

If you can't see it all that well, her little strap buttons have seashells on them (My favorite detail ever)

She's a really good dancer (REAL Greek mythology nerds know)

The ocean is tied to her emotions. If she's happy, it's extra clean & super warm. When she's sad, it reseeds a bit & also is a little chilly should you step in for a dip. When she's embarrassed, it fizzes like a soda, but it's harmless. Just feels kinda weird. When she's angry, it boils & geysers sprout, & so forth

Almost all of the sea creatures, like sirens & nymphs, see her as a mother, & she takes pride in that title

She still has a trident, it just forms & solidifies from the water when she needs it

A fuller form she has is basically a sea monster. Her eyes turns into voids of her eye color, webbed hands, fish fins in place of her ears, sharper teeth, things like that

She's not a siren, but can sometimes make her voice just as alluring as one. She only uses it to lure BAD people to a watery grave, to make the world safer for everyone, more specifically Polyphemus after......the incident

She can sometimes morph into water to make a quick escape & can solidify back to her usual form

Name:

Lorra's name is inspired by Lorraine Warren. Why? Because I love that woman, so loving, fearless, a great partner, and a badass for what she did, and second because I love the relationship she had with Ed (her husband). Bonus! because in the 2nd Movie of The conjuring, Ed screams at the top of his lungs "Lorraine!" with such a raw emotion I was like "YUP. That's the name". Silly? probably. But as a person who hates how her real name sounds in real life, I fell in love with how that name sounded, even if someone screamed it. Later, I did my research and found out other beautiful meanings, so I ended up connecting even more with it.

Last Name

Her full name is Lorrain Morgana LeFay. Morgana LeFay was one of my favorite wizard cards to collect in Harry Potter from PS1 (In spanish, that name sounds terrifying when the narrator says it, and I think that's why I love it sm) + that witch's backstory is SO INTERESTING, I could yap for days about what her last name means, all the situations she shared with Merlin, and more. But basically that's why Lorra is her relative. Bonus: In my country we have two last names, so I wanted my baby to have two as well 🤓

Appearance:

Lorrain looks nothing like me except for the eyes (green) . The hair color (strawberry red with a gradient) is for the passion she puts into things, how deeply she loves her people and her persistence into achieving her goals. She braids her hair whenever she's about to do some mischief, learn something new, or studying. Maybe I'm too old for this reference, but Violet Baudelaire (from a series of unfortunate events) used to do this, and being one of my favorite movies from my childhood I needed to incorporate that onto my Lorra.

Clothes:

She always wears long sleeves and highly texturized fabric. This for Ominis to be able to feel and sense different patterns on her outfits, and because I never get to wear any winter clothes 😆😆 I live in a city with tropical weather, near the coast, so I hardly ever have the chance to wear long sleeves. Boots? pff.. never. COATS? SCARFS?! 😭😔

Personality

Lorrain is a creature that loves. Yes, herself and her friends, but also, her partner. She's 100% devoted to him (Oms). I think that in her timelines, she's only one or two that has the lore "from enemies to lovers". It's not that I don't like those stories, but I just wanted my mc to be more direct, to not waste time, if she feels it in her heart she's gonna let you know and show it 🤣 As silly as it might sound I've even learned things from her. To be more attentive with others, for example. I wanted her to be capable, of fighting, speaking her mind (even if that gets her in trouble) and to be, not a "tomboy" but yes. She likes to get her boots dirty and will fight you if you eat her last Bertie Bott. If she was fighting Ranrok, I imagine her being like Éowyn from LoTR. "No man can defeat me" - "I am no man".

Lore

Lorrain not having a solid background - family members has a lot to do with symbolisms, life lessons and different personal experiences. (Sorry! I need to pour my stuff somewhere 🤣🤣 ) But her enduring all of it and being able to still remain kind and loving is my daily inspo. + I like when she breaks, when she's vulnerable and human. When she cries and gets angry. I don't like her being happy all the time, because well, who is happy all day everyday? Also I love when Ominis is there for her. Not because he thinks she's not capable, but because he knows she wants him there to accompany her. My girl is tough but has a very very sensitive side when it comes to her partner's support.

Powers

Her powers are great and all but they damage her fingers: how can something so delicate and small, resist so much- is yet another symbolism to her whole character. + I had an accident when I was little and almost lost the ability to move my whole hand because of it, so it "stayed" with me that my hands and fingers (and in this case, Lorra's hands) are my treasure, I can work, draw, paint, and write thanks to them, I show love thru them, and so much more. Not taking anything I have for granted, doesn't matter how small it is, is a rock on my - and her- story as well. With that being said, her power involves fire: Liz Sherman (from hellboy ) was my inspo for her.

If This Book Exists, You're In The Wrong Universe review and ranting

Personal rating: 9.5/10

Ranking in the book series: Top 2

I think I liked this one more than the average person. It's difficult to explain exactly why, I just really enjoyed myself with this one. It's the longest book in the series, I think. I like mind fuck and this one was the greatest sex my brain has ever gotten. The time line of this book is da filthy but it still makes sense (?) At least I didn't notice any inconsistencies that usually come up with time travel/ time loop stories. Anyway, further rambling down below.

The tone:

This one might be the perfect mix of all genres. I feel like the comedy-horror-drama ratio was pretty evened out here, which I quite enjoyed. It's portioned, though. You get a whole lot of funny in the beginning, mostly action and funny in the middle, maybe I'm just a pussy but the last act made my heart go ouchie at times. The horror was the disturbing kind, and I love it. Overall, it was very entertaining from start to finish.

The pacing:

The pacing wasn't perfect, but nothing was bothering me too much. The ending had, once again the problem, that it never seemed to find an end. It went on and on and on, but I didn't mind it. I also rather have 7 more chapters than ending the story with John's head mush and the city of [Undisclosed] vaporized, so I'm not complaining. All the characters get enough screen time, the tension never comes too short or too long, and the more emotional bits are long enough to get you invested but not too long to make you cry on public transport.

It also all came down full circle, even the most unsuspecting things coming into play again, later. (the fucking DO NOT OPEN cabinet in John's home, are you kidding?! It wasn't important to the story and useless as all hell BUT it came back into play in the most anticlimactic way possible)

The supernatural elements:

Xarcrax: The Xarcrax cult is obviously inspired by the red-pill contents, especially how young boys can be pulled into this non-sense because they crave a feeling of validation, community, and superiority (often times because people have wronged them and they don't get the comfort they seek, elsewhere) It's a nice mix of real issues, and paranormal aspects so it still fits in there well. And yes, Dave was right. The name is stupid. It's even more stupid once it's revealed how the name was created in the first place.

Magpie and Mr. Swallows: These creatures are very much THE horror element of this book. While not as terrifying as monsters from other books, it's still caused for some amazingly scary moments. Also, the idea of the beings being invisible except for the inside of their stomach is creative and quickly turns disturbing. The eyeball moments were da filthy!

The Time Captain: The fact that all this has happened once is introduced to us early on. Before dying, the Time Captain confirmed that the events of the book are their second chance to save the world. The concept of this not being their second chance, but their 100.000.000+ chance, is only revealed around the half way mark. Maybe even later. Revealing the concept of a time loop this late was honestly a great choice. It caused both comfort and concern. I'm all for happy endings but I'm always annoyed with time loop stories that just show that one time they break the loop and the loop gets broken for no damn reason. Not only do we see a failed attempt here but also a reasoning as to why it works the next time (and finally we know why it's called John Dies At The End. I didn't cry. And if you think I did, good luck proving it, asshole!)

The BATMANTIS???: Although we don't see the BATMANTIS??? as a creature in this book, it's highly implied that Dave transformed at least 3 times. One time in a "dream", hunting and feeding. One time when him and Joy were being attacked and he had to release the beast to protect them. Great fucking scene. We only see the lead up and the pay off, so there is still a certain mystery to the BATMANTIS??? but Dave is very fucking powerful when transformed. The decapitated head and the organs he puked out afterwards prove it. The last time he transformed is to presumably eat the asshole misogynistic twat of a father, bones and all. I couldn't say "slay" louder.

The characters:

Once again, beautiful human stories in-between this monster-action-flick. Dave is still far from perfect, but he has grown since book 3 (the bar was in hell). He has also become quite the action hero. Still chubby and a little bit damp, but damn, he can prove himself in stressful situations. In general, the whole team has improved so much over the years that you'd almost think they are professionals.

John is still funny and stupid but damn, did he pull on my heart strings this book. What kind of beef did he have with the universe for it to make it a rule that this manic sewer-rat of a man HAS to die?!

Amy is perfect. She's my angel, the love of my life, my hero, if anything ever happens to her, I will destroy this realm. I also adore that she is fully part of the monster hunter gang, without having the ability to see the monsters. It just proves how badass she can be because she can still keep up with the boys while "blind".

I also love the addition of Joy. It was interesting to let her stay in the background for most of the book and then have her be one of the main reasons why they can save the world. I also love her view on humans and why she loves them so much. All while she's still a bitch to John and the rest, I adore her so much. I noticed that she doesn't use her abilities often, even if it would make everyone's life easier. Her reasoning and fear makes it all very valid and immediately puts some depth into this character.

Bas was also a good character. I doubt he will appear in future stories, but he was a great antagonist. He was a realistic mix of well-taught magic user and amateurish teen. His love for his sisters and the obvious grief that lead his action makes him a sympathetic villain, who, at the end of the day is just another grieving boy who doesn't get the help he seeks.

Other aspects and bits that I liked:

-"Knife to meet you!"

-The first two pages are Dave's Ebay offers of cursed and/or magic items that seem pretty useless, but you just know supernatural nerds would buy.

-The "Prologue" if you can call it that reintroducing you to the gang and their shenanigans with a seemingly stand-alone mission was a great way to open the book, so readers who have had a long break between books could get a smooth feeling for the craziness again. The monster ending up being part of the bigger picture was even greater.

-amy

-No fucking way did we get another black-out situation. I expected another terrifying outcome as we got in book one. It just ended up being Dave from another universe watching the shenanigans and being bored so he skipped forward, causing their entire universe to skip forward as well?!?!?

-That ending? She ate and left no crumbs!!! (talking about Dave commiting cannibalism)

-Pool portals!

-Only in a John Dies At The End book can you have a figure appearing in your room at night, who is about to tell you the prophecy of saving the world... only solidify into the wall and die before getting to the most important parts.

-His name is Tim Kaplan. Gets referred to as Time Captain throughout the entire fucking book because John didn't hear his introduction clearly.

-The entity Xarcrax got named after a fucking portable cooler. Who the fuck comes up with this shit?!??!

Happy Valentine's day to all who celebrate! For those who don't hope your day was great!

Wanted to try and do this a bit earlier in the day but here we are. Bringing you some art and a fic from this little au thing cause I felt like it. The fic will be below the cut. Enjoy.

Pairing: Sonic/Shadow

"Have fun you two!" Tails waved as Sonic led Shadow off.

"We will! See you in a while little bro!" Sonic waved back before gently grabbing Shadow's hand. As he always did he gave the other hedgehog plenty of time to pull away. Though Shadow simply glanced down at their hands before making a soft noise of approval.

Admittedly Sonic was a little nervous. This was the first time he was taking Shadow out on what he would consider a "real date". Sure they'd been out alone plenty of times but all those times Sonic had just been showing Shadow around or teaching him about something. This time though Sonic had specifically chosen a place they'd not only visited before, but that Shadow had actually asked to go back to on several occasions. Those times had been a massive win. Shadow for all his outward confidence actually had a hard time asking for things. No matter how small. An unfortunate byproduct of how he'd been treated on the Ark. The thought of what Shadow had to go through always made his quills bristle; Sonic almost wished he could meet this Gerald guy face to face. Almost. 

Sonic was pulled from his less than positive thoughts as Shadow squeezed his hand, concerned frown on his face. "You ok?" His tail was twitching behind him nervously as he searched Sonic’s face.

"I'm fine Shads." Sonic squeezed the other hedgehog's hand back. "Just thinking about some stuff I don't need to." 

Shadow hummed, not looking entirely pleased by that answer but he didn’t say anything else. Though Shadow did perk up in interest as he seemed to realize where they were going. “The Chao Garden?” Shadow glanced at him, a smile threatening to make its way onto his face.

“Course.” Sonic smiled. “I bet the little guys miss us.” Shadow hummed in agreement. “Wanna race there?” Sonic shot Shadow a challenging look. If there was something he’d learned about Shadow it was that the other hedgehog could get competitive. Honestly Sonic loved that. Sure the two of them could get carried away sometimes, but it felt like in those moments where the two of them were competing that Shadow was truly living. Not being weighed down by his past.

Shadow immediately returned the look. “You’re on.” 

Sonic regrettably had to let go of Shadow’s hand but that was alright, racing was much better anyway. “Three, two, one… go!” They shot off. Of course Sonic would have to pull back a little bit to keep things fair. Sure Shadow was naturally fast, but he’d forgone his air shoes today. They helped Shadow keep up a lot easier. Either way though it was close and Sonic only barely arrived at the entrance to the garden before Shadow. Both were panting slightly but Sonic couldn’t help but smile at the happy look on Shadow’s face. Even if it was quickly replaced with a more neutral expression. “Shall we?” Sonic gestured widely to the garden. Shadow huffed fondly before walking past Sonic.

As soon as the two were far enough into the garden they were swarmed by most of the chao population there. Shadow in particular had always been a big hit with them. Tails thought it had something to do with how much chaos energy Shadow’s body naturally gave off, but Sonic liked to think it was because of how he treated them. Soon enough two chao in particular made their way through the crowd. Sonic happily pat the head of the chao he’d been raising, the dot above the blue creature swiftly changing into a heart. Sonic had to hold in his laugh as Shadow’s chao had decided to plop themself down on Shadow’s head. Though to be fair Shadow didn’t seem very phased by the decision.

Maybe today he could finally get Shadow to agree to take the two chao back with them. Of course Sonic didn’t want to rush the other hedgehog into doing anything, part of the reason he’d waited so long to make any sort of move with Shadow, but he knew the two chao missed the two of them when they left. Sonic could of course take his own home, but he didn’t want to separate them from Shadow’s. Eventually the chao all settled down and most wandered off to do various things.

“Wait here for a sec. I need to grab something.” Sonic placed his chao in front of Shadow. They reached up for him, a frown on their face. “And keep an eye on them so they don’t try to follow me.” Shadow nodded and Sonic sped off to another part of the garden. A part where he’d stashed some stuff earlier. He grinned as he pulled out a small wrapped package and basket. Thankfully it looked like none of the chao had found and messed with it. Just as quickly as he left he was back. Shadow watched him curiously as he placed down what he’d grabbed. At this point Shadow was sitting while their chao played with each other nearby.

Sonic sat down in front of him and held out the wrapped package, a gentle smile on his face. Shadow froze for a moment before carefully taking the package from Sonic. “What is it?” He carefully turned it over in his hands.

“Well, you’ll just have to open it and find out.” Sonic shrugged, smile morphing more into a grin as Shadow shot him an unimpressed look. “Trust me, you’ll like it.” Well he hoped Shadow liked it anyway. It was hard to figure out what the other hedgehog would even like since he almost never talked about anything he wanted. Sonic did his best with what he had though and honestly he thought he’d done pretty good with this one.

After a moment more of staring at the wrapped package, Shadow carefully drug a claw down the wrapping cutting it rather cleanly and peeled the paper away. He stared down at the newly exposed picture frame. It wasn’t anything fancy and the whole thing was small enough to be carried around if desired. A small smile graced Shadow’s face and Sonic knew he’d done good. The second one he was more worried about but hopefully the first one going over well was a good sign. “I always liked that picture of you, me, and Tails.” Sonic hummed. “Even though it wasn’t too long after I found you I think it was the first time I actually got you to smile. Even if it was more out of surprise than anything.” He chuckled as Shadow put the first frame aside. Sonic got a little concerned as the other hedgehog froze once the second frame was revealed.

Sonic knew this one would be a risk, but he liked to think he was reading Shadow’s feelings about this correctly. “How?” Shadow briefly looked up at him, and Sonic wasn’t sure how to read his expression at the moment.

“Me and Tails, uh mostly Tails, did some digging around. Mostly in places that would not be considered public.” Sonic shrugged nervously, grabbing the edge of his scarf to fiddle with. “It was hard since most of anything to do with… the Ark was wiped out but…” He weakly gestured to the frame that Shadow had gone back to staring at. “We managed to find that.”

The silence between them stretched on long enough that their chao had taken notice. Both of them wandered over to their owners and attempted to comfort them. As soon as Sonic was starting to really regret this whole thing Shadow spoke. “Maria…” He looked up at Sonic. He opened his mouth to speak but quickly shook his head, raising his hands instead. ‘Thank you.’ He signed. ‘This way I’ll never forget the one person who made my past bearable.’

All the tension abruptly bled out of Sonic’s body. Ok good, he had been reading things right. That was a relief. “You’re welcome Shads. I’m just glad you like it, heh.” He rubbed the back of his head. “Now then, how about we enjoy something to eat?”

Shadow placed the second frame aside and nodded. “I would like that.”

“So…” Sonic started from his position of leaning comfortably on top of Shadow’s head. “Do you think today is the day we take these little guys home?” Shadow was currently petting his chao and Sonic’s was hovering close to the duo.

Shadow hummed in contemplation. He glanced down at his chao, who glanced back at him happily. Much to his chao’s disappointment he pulled his hand away from their head. ‘Would they be happier to come with us then stay here with the others?’

Well that was progress, it wasn't an outright no this time. "Chao bond real close with their owners." Sonic smiled as his chao reached out for his hand. "Sure they like being around other chao but we're a plenty good substitute." He started to pet his chao's head. "Plus we can always bring them back to visit their friends."

Sonic watched quietly as Shadow's tail moved slowly through the grass. After a while of Sonic waiting and just enjoying their close proximity, a huge step up from Shadow hissing or growling at him whenever he got too close, Shadow nodded. Well nodded as best he could with Sonic there. "Alright." Shadow scratched behind his chao's ear. "I think I'm ready."

Well who would have thought? Sonic was happy not only for the chao, but for Shadow. It had been a long road to help Shadow undo the damage from his past, and they still had a long way to go. This was a good step though, it would be good for Shadow to have something else that loves him unconditionally. Carefully Sonic moved to hug Shadow, and was happy when the other hedgehog let it happen. 

"We have to actually name them now you know." Sonic smiled even though Shadow wouldn't be able to see it.

"... I've never had to name anything before." Shadow frowned slightly.

"Just don't overthink it." Sonic squeezed Shadow briefly. "Just use whatever feels right."

"Do you have a name for yours?" Shadow asked, probably looking for an example.

"Course. I had a name picked out a while ago." Sonic turned to his chao which was watching him curiously. "I officially dub you Azure." The newly named Azure flew around in clear excitement before settling on Sonic's head.

"Azure huh?" Shadow hummed before a look of realization crossed his face. "Wait. Did you name them that because they're blue?"

"Heh… maybe." Sonic chuckled. "Still has a nice ring to it though."

"I suppose." Shadow sighed before looking intently at his own chao. “Gale.” He said after a while of what Sonic suspected was contemplation. Gale made happy noises as they grabbed one of Shadow’s hands with their two smaller ones.

“I think they like it.” Sonic removed his arms from around Shadow and stood up fully to stretch. “Is there a reason for the name or did it just come to you?” Shadow avoided his gaze and that only had Sonic even more curious. If he looked carefully enough he could make out a slight green flush to Shadow’s muzzle. Interesting. It took a lot for Shadow to get flustered. Now he had to know. “C’mon, you know I won’t judge you for whatever reason you have.”

Shadow quietly muttered something that Sonic couldn’t make out before turning to face him. “It’s because of you.” Sonic froze in surprise, mouth hanging open slightly and ears perked up. That had not been what he was expecting honestly, but he made him feel warm. Shadow sighed and raised his hands. ‘You have done a lot for me and I appreciate that. I figured this might be a suitable way to repay your kindness.’

Sonic reigned in his surprise and gave Shadow a wide smile. “I’m glad to know you think so highly of me, but you don’t have to try and repay me like that. Just getting to see you living your life is good enough for me.”

‘If you say so.’ Shadow shrugged before grabbing Gale. ‘The name stays either way.’

“Wouldn’t dream of trying to change your mind.” Sonic grabbed Azure before holding out a hand to help Shadow up. After a moment the other hedgehog took the offered hand. “Well what do you say, good first date?”

Shadow chuckled quietly as Gale flew up to land on his head. ‘The best I’ve ever been on.’

“Why thank yo-” Sonic blinked. “Wait a sec, you haven’t been on any other first dates.” He grinned.

‘It was still the best. I have no need for any others.’ Shadow hesitantly reached out his hand and Sonic happily took it.

“I’ll take that.” Sonic shrugged. “Now then, let’s head home.” It was a good day, and Sonic wouldn’t change a thing about it.
