Hi! I saw the news about Lewis Hamilton planning to move from Mercedes to Ferrari in 2025. I was wondering if you have any thoughts/opinions on this! I don’t have any grand stake in it, I suppose, except that even though I don’t follow F1 I’m still a Hamilton fan, haha. But hearing the news I was still like WHAAAAT

OH MY GOD yes. I thought it was a prank at first until i realised the OFFICIAL F1 account also confirmed it and like?!!?

Anyway… I don’t really understand why he would want to join Ferrari, considering their current situation and their strategy calls though, to be fair, the Mercedes strategy and car hasn’t been much better either. I mean it’s been 12 years, and I guess Lewis just wants a bit of a change? Idk I’m still in shock, but I am… interested in how this would pan out, with Charles and Lewis in Ferrari… maybe they’d get a better strategy somehow. It is a pity though, never imagined Lewis would leave Merc…

I read through your built headcanon stuff and genuinely that is well thought out and pretty cool to read about too. Curious thooo- - When it comes to manufacturers, who runs the whole show there lol? Like who heads the company. Is it a certain car which represents the whole company (like maybe an really important car for the company orr).

- What happens when a vehicle retires and don't really have nothing else to do? Maybe like bigger vehicles where they mainly have one purpose only??

- Do manufacturers stop making a certain kind of model when they get make better ones? If so, does that mean a family wouldn't be able to get such a model or smth?

ANS: You should REALLY read this fic by the-king's-tail-fin here but in short, I'd like to believe that the manufactureres just *are*, and there would be one car that oversees the process of releasing newly built cars to the world, and how the factories function etc. Is it a lot of work? yes. Therefore it most likely is a family thing- to better facilitate the teaching and everything... or like a mentor-apprentice thing where the current head of the manufacturer passes on all they know to their successor

ANS: Well this might get a little dark but uh. It depends because if they really don't have a job then ig its just normal retirement? Living out your years in your home, using the funds you've saved up over the course of the years- for smaller vehicles, sure. But for the larger ones with only one purpose, then... old hangars or docks, and they just. wait. wait and waste away. (I hc most of these larger vehicles opt to simply be scrapped at the end of service life - sitting and wasting away seems more painful...)

Do manufacturers stop making a certain kind of model when they get make better ones? If so, does that mean a family wouldn't be able to get such a model or smth?

ANS: Yeah, I mean manufacturers will constantly test and design newer, better models, that's just how it goes. Then when they decide to phase out the older models at their own discretion they just. stop making them. Families would therefore be unable to get such a model, obviously. So they'd go for the newer models - but the model doesn't really *matter* does it? The point is that you want a child for their character, for their precociousness and why does looks have to be a factor?

Mkay but no seriously, some genuinely curious questions:

-When built, are the vehicles small/-er versions of themselves that grow into adults, or are they grown adults from the getgo?

-Are built vehicles' ages based off of the date they were manufactured? (I ask this in tandem with the above because I'm curious about how they would treat such things as childhood, ageing, and coming *of* age)

-Are there any parts of the built machines that are organic/semi-organic as to do stuff (ie eating/drinking)?

-What causes a vehicle to end up being built? Is it relative to two parents deciding "hey let's get a kid" and then their respective company creating one, or is it a more company, or god forbid government controlled "we make X amount of vehicles and they just go to homes and go out in the world".

-If they are already adults from the date of manufacture, do they just...instantly move into a garage somewhere? What constitutes as family to them, if they have any? Model similarities, company relations? Found family exclusively?

This list could probably be WAY bigger but I don't want to totally overload you any more lol. This is just a really interesting concept and perspective I've almost never dabbled in and I'm genuinely curious how these things might work through the built theory's lens.

Ans: I personally headcanon that both versions would exist - that there are smaller versions that grow into adult frames, and that there are adult cars that roll straight off the production line (i hc that lightning is one of these cars, just manufactured then put on the track) but by and large cars manufactured at adult age tend to be a lot fewer than having children?? baby?? cars that grow up

Yes I suppose so - but it really depends because from what I've seen in the Carsverse age seems to be a more fluid matter that doesn't nearly have as much impact on their lives? Case in point Lizzie who is literally a hundred years old and still kicking. Coming of age, ageing and childhood really depends from a car to car basis, maybe the families they were raised in, their personal preferences etc - tho obviously those cars who are small would *have* a childhood I'm more inclined to believe that adult cars - from the earlier point - don't nearly get this privillege

Nope. I believe in this world everything is just like the cars and vehicles in our world, and therefore the stuff they consume would probably depend on what kind of vehicle they are and therefore what fuel they will need. The 'food' is all fuel that has a changed appearance. Race cars don't normally ingest these foods because, well, their prime function is to race and the foods, however much they may be fuel-based, will never be the premium stuff needed to run a high performance engine smoothly

In Cars 1 Mack has a line that says 'thank the manufacturer you're alive' when he finds Lightning in RS, and so based off this- the Cars world has manufacturers and factories that manufacture the sentient cars, the nitty gritty details aren't known to the general population which is why they never really question it, it's just that they have manufacturers, and the sentient cars roll off the production line and thats that. Of course couples can opt to adopt one of these cars from any manufacturer (this would probably explain the differences in make and model in Carsverse families better imo)

Yep. I'd think that the companies settle them with a place somewhere and then good luck to you way out there!! They'll have no family, sad to say, and the first few years will get preetty lonely. Found family only ftw (might explain Lightning's whole... personality from this headcanon above lol)

Alpine Fanmeet :DDD

Got the chance (and happened to be in the right place at the right time-) to attend an alpine fan meet & greet event with esteban ocon and jack doohan showing up!!!

So obviously I had to make a meme board and attempt to get them to sign it... and lo and behold i managed to get it signed YIPPEE :D

so funny story- esteban was really nice and when the staff tried to return me the board straight after he signed it he told them to wait and let jack sign it which is pretty much how i managed to get both signatures in the first place... this was my literal first f1 event where ive managed to get so close to drivers and holy shit that made my day :D

BUT very interesting headcanon indeed! Yes, I’d presume they would be rightfully disappointed, and honestly I have no idea how chick even retained the cup that year - which would be solved by the fics that explore his trophy being taken away or given away by Chick himself all over ao3 and other websites.

Either way, it seems kind of poetic, almost, that no racer can ever seem to go past 7 titles (strip, lightning, and my personal hc, dale sr)

thoughts..

so like a few months ago i disappeared off tumblr for a holiday- where i went to italy

and because it was, well, italy of course i had to go check out the cars there. got an opportunity to tour the maserati factory, a really, really coold experience, 100/10 recommend for all those cars geeks out there (like me lmao)

but. it also got me thinking about the carsverse. like really really thinking- you see, in the factory, of course they'd have a section where they create prototype cars and test them and push them to the absolute limit for data right- so... how would this work in carsverse?? i mean i've toyed with the idea that some would be, likely, non-sentient, because it is very cruel to build a car, bring it into existence just to, well, put it through a million tests then scrap it after (since its very possible that those cars wouldn't have the highest functioning capacity, to put it in kinder terms)

however, if in the carsverse those testing cars were sentient, could there then possibly be a big protest against this? cause on one hand we have the moral dilemma, the thing about it being extremely cruel and inhumane to, well, do that- then again, it's also technically needed for society in carsverse to progress. manufacturers need to be able to model new types of cars, work on pre-existing flaws and also, when the whole thing is done of course you have to test it because uh- you wouldn't want a half-baked idea driving around and having possibly lower living conditions in that state. so, i'd like to think that manufacturers probably do these tests still, albeit in private. goverments probably have to pitch in to keep this rather hush-hush and like, all in all i'd garner it's a sore topic in the whole of carsverse

i've got like- a handful of ocs that i inserted into this figment of carsverse, them being sentient testing cars or whatnot- would this then possibly end up with cars that are ahead of their time? eg : built singularly before the whole batch is manufactured- and could they then possibly have higher physical aspects, having been run through these tests all their lives and such. how then would they possibly fit into society after this? i'd reckon if they ever escape that factory life they'd go through a great deal to cover up their past and in general prevent being shunned from society like the lemons have..

thoughts for the carsverse indeed- would like to hear from @boeingboingboing and our aspiring carsverse podcasters @carsgeek24 and @agentsandracartrip for y'alls thoughts on this XD i mean i havent really thoroughly inspected this... possibily (which could be solved if the cars were non-sentient but i'd like to think of carsverse as overly complicated and hence, well, this so-)
