I've also been thinking about this other AU kind of thing. Alola canonically has alternate universes. At least for the show it's a whole other reality, I think for the games it's a place in the same universe lightr years away idk I haven't played Ultra..

So anyway I haven't sorted it out but since Burnet works at the interdimentional research lab that could be a starting point for this lololol. She and Olivia met up at the lab to discuss some things concerning Akala's safety and Kiawe tagged along with Olivia. In the anime Tapu Koko sends Ash to a ruined Alola to save it but I think maybe Tapu Lele here would just send the three of them to an alternate alola that's stable and looks the same just to play with them a little. Idk idk

Anyway kiawe wonders if this alola has a Wren. He wants to check but he's apprehensive of altering some of the things here. Olivia is like I Know you want to know about him but since you don't want to check i'll just help you. So she goes up to the room at the Motel on route 8 that Wren dorms at. Kiawe is behind her.

The place looks exactly the same. Even the trees are the same. He moves away to not be in direct sight of whoever opens the door. And he anticipates while Olivia knocks. It's painfully long before the door opens.

It was a mother. Her baby is sat on her arm. She politely asks what the matter was. Olivia says she's looking for a friend and got the wrong room, so they'll be off, and sorry for the trouble!

Kiawe's heart sank. He didn't really know what he was feeling. It was a mix and a blur. He kind of just wanted to go home... This Alola suddenly felt strange. He saw the same Aether outposts, the same caravan parked at the road, everything is in place for Wren to have been here for the conservation programme! He thought of asking the motel reception if a Wren stayed here, perhaps in a different room. Or the Aether employees about a certain intern named Wren.

But he guessed if Wren was not in the room on the far left, he would not be anywhere else. It would already be a different person. It would be a different story for the both of them. Except in this Alola, they did not have a story. They did not meet. Wren was still back home. They would stay regions apart.

There was no point for him to question the way of another world. But it didn't mean what they have on their own Earth isn't real. It doesn't have to be prophecy for all the universe to follow, that these two are fated to be together.

It is precisely because they aren't, that it is not fate, that makes their love real. It's that out of all the paths they could have taken, they were ever in Alola, on Akala, on Wela volcano, together. And they didn't just pass by each other. They willed their own paths to meet and converge.

Kiawe understood that, on his own terms. He couldn't string it into words well, but any unease and rejection he felt was washed by a mild relief, an understanding of what they do have.

He would go home and Wren would be there. It would barely be the start of the evening, so he'd meet them at the peak of volcano as always. He might tell them about the other world. Or not, and just hear them talk about the seabirds they saw today.
