How long had it been since Bowen was last here? At least he still had some memories of it. He could remember meeting a really lovely girl and falling for her easily, only to end up being called up on an urgent assignment that had him away for quite some time. At least he recalled a place she took him to. Going down the same dirt path and weaving past some bushes, there it was, the empty abandoned playground she took him to. With a small smile, did he walk over to the wings and sat down, eyes looking up at the sky. He wondered if he’d bump into her again, something he really hoped would happen.

“H-help! Help us, please!”

The world was burning around them - Mars, in her final moments, had unleashed all the fury her flames could offer, incinerating herself and all within a mile of her. The fires that raged now had her to thank for their birth, and they thanked her by devouring all that stoood in their path, stealing the oxygen from the very lungs of those near. The Moon Palace stood only as a testament to Mercury’s power, the torrential flooding released by her death soaking every stone and tower within the castle walls.

Beryl was dead.

“Help me!”

In that sense, the rebellion had failed.

In another, they had won. Earth was whole. The Galaxy would never again fall under the Moon’s power, the crystal worn by it’s Queen shattered under his own feet.

Never again would this play out.

Nephrite was dead, killed by Jupiter’s fury at the loss of her queen - she in turn had been slain boy Zoisite. Venus had taken Kunzite to the grave with her, their weapons forming a cage of metal to pierce and guard their bleeding corpses.

“Please!”

Where Zoisite was now, he has no clue - salvaging what was left of their troops? Pillaging the palace’s secrets?

Did it really matter?

“Don’t leave us, please, he’s your prince!”

The Moon Princess, pinned to the ground like a butterfly beneath Beryl’s blade, clutching at Endymion’s bleeding form, continued to cry out, to choke on her tears and her internal bleeding.

Jadeite didn’t spare her a glance.

22. Fingertips

They were soft, but he expected nothing less from her. From the lines that made up her form to the gossamer that was her dress, the Moon Princess was the definition of softness. Kunzite’s lips lingered on her fingertips for a second longer before he pulled back. Any moment, someone could see them. And if it was anyone with sway, trouble could arise. Tensions were high already because of the presence of Earthlings on the Moon. One wrong step, and the worst might be triggered.

The tanned hand let her pale one fall. “It has been a long time... Princess.”
