“Routine”

Mahiru rummaged through his closet, looking for the brush he had stored there for the occasion (was occasion even the right word for these times?). Despite the number of times they’ve went through the routine already, Mahiru is still amazed at Kuro’s indifference with the mess, just as Kuro is amazed by the teen’s will power regarding brushing all of his nine tails. The summer wave just started a couple of days ago, two days to be exact with the weather, and he could already see the effect it had on the anthropomorphic arctic fox’s tails- more particularly on his fur.

The sky blue strands were not easy to ignore as they stood in stark contrast to his floorboards. He could feel the fur clinging to his skin and clothes whenever he sat down on the couch, and sometimes he’d itch whenever he’d lie down in bed. He started sneezing a lot as well. Kuro wasn’t affected or as irritated as he was, evident with his usual playing of his game device while he rolled around on the floor, couch, or bed, and all the while his tails swished around in a gentle rhythm. Sometimes he’d find himself watching as each of the nine tails dipped in a graceful line, to be followed by the other, and then the next, before he’d realize his eyes getting droopy with the constant somewhat soothing motion--

His hands gripped a smooth wooden handle, cutting him off from his thoughts, “Found it!” He said to himself as he shut the drawer close, prized weapon in hand. He immediately went over to the living room where the tuff of blue-shaded tails coiled on its owner. Kuro’s crimson eyes flicked towards him for a split second, an acknowledgement of his presence but not his intentions…yet.

“Okay Kuro, time to brush!” Mahiru said with a bit too much enthusiasm despite putting on an irked face.

Kuro’s shoulders visibly slumped, his tails coming to rest flat on the sofa, and his upper body sinking more into his soft and fluffy pillow fit for a king, as how he termed it, while he paused his game. He looked at Mahiru, down to the floor where strands of azure fur gleamed against the fluorescent lighting of the apartment, then to the carpet, and to the rest of the room his eyes could land on.

“What? Why?” Came his reply.

In a moment, Mahiru was already beside him, tugging on his fur and waving the brush around, “Don’t ‘WHY’ me! You saw them didn’t you?!”

The fox let out a yelp, ears up in alarm, “Ah- the tail- not the tail…!” He whined and rolled around, game device forgotten beside him as he struggled to keep his tails away from the determined boy- which proved to be a difficult task considering the sheer size (fluff, in all reality) of the NINE of them. The most he could do was swat the teen a couple of steps back and Mahiru stopped, much to his relief.

“So violent…” He commented wearily, ears drooping to his sides, “Abusing a cute fox like me,”

Mahiru let out a long exaggerated sigh, falling to his rear and crossing his legs, “Stop moping and get over here,” He said as he patted the space beside him. Kuro groaned and turned his face the other way, ears taut in resignation.

It was a full 15 minutes of staring at whatever he could make out with the fibers of the couch before he finally looked back, eyes glaring in disbelief at the teen.

“Are you serious?”

“If you want this over, then stop delaying things,” Mahiru pointed out, looking much more relaxed than Kuro is at the moment. He held the brush between his fingers and twirled it around the floor. The extra patience for the fox came with great advantages, stubborn as it may seem to the older one’s eyes.

Kuro sighed, “You’re such a pain…” he muttered and sat up, scratching the back of his neck while his ears twitched in fond annoyance. With tails out and stretched, he pulled himself to his feet and trudged towards the sitting teen. Mahiru’s eyes gleamed with either pride or excitement, Kuro couldn’t tell, but it was something that tugged lightly at his conscience telling him to at least indulge the hardworking boy more often to see that sunshine looking at him like that.

He sighed again at the thought. It was only a step away from Mahiru when he decided to turn around and offer his brightly fluffy tail to the teen, effectively smothering him in the process. There was a startled shout from him, much to Kuro’s amusement.

“-uro wad even-?!“

“You started it,” Kuro defended and sat down, tails still upright and pressing on Mahiru. The teasing helped with the situation, or that’s at least how Kuro interpreted the groan from the other, as Mahiru shifted backwards to allow more space between them. He huffed and stuck his cheeks out even though Kuro couldn’t see him, and began his brush work on the first shedding tail on his lap. It took a couple of minutes and gentle strokes from the brush before Kuro’s tails relaxed around him. And although the weather was hot enough as it is, he didn’t mind the warmth on his lap and from those curled against his sides.

“So…”

“So?”

“What do you… you know, do with my fur?”

“You can check your pillows for that,”

“Eh-“

Kuro watched as Mahiru finished tidying the place up, moving over to the kitchen to dispose of the fur-abused brush as well. Was there really a need for disposal though? He wasn’t entirely sure if it was for hygiene’s sake or what not, but well, Mahiru knows what he’s doing. The arctic fox shrugged and trudged upstairs to continue his game in peace. He passed by teen’s room, door open a crack and enough for him to catch a glimpse of a large drawer filled with nothing but a bunch of… brushes.

This one is for the post @lightdizzy made waaaay before- I really wanted to make something of this but I got sidetracked tooooo much (*_ _)人 . 

//cough… u-uhm but anyways! This one is for @lightdizzy himself! Sort of like, a thank you for doing the incubus Kuro from back then too and hopefully to be like a cheer up kinda present as well!--- I know it isn’t like quality so I made both a short comic and a fanfic for it! Although I wasn’t so sure if I went about the fanfic right… which, by the way, is kinda different from how the comic is (I drew the comic first haha)… Might make a continuation of this sometime as well because writing it is so fun tbh! o(≧▽≦)o

Yossshhh~ With that said and done, I continue to support ya! Hehe… and thank you as well for inspiring me to work on my floof too! I hope you like it!

------- Questions from catslab: Favorite colors and why?

Red and Yellow (or Gold). I also like black. Why I like them? I LOVE RED because it can symbolize either love or war; passion or rage; a blush or some blood. It basically represents me. xD. Yellow/Gold/Black just kinda always shows up in my works, so they became part of my aesthetic too <3

What’s your favorite drawing style?

Drawing style? Hmmm... My own? Or am I supposed to mention someone else’s style? But if I were to do special mentions then I will give my top 3-- I can say that I absolutely adore @quiethistess‘, @lightdizzy’s and @petrichor-note’s drawing style. Details, proportions, and poses have always been wonders for me and they bring that out so beautifully! <3

What’s your favorite coloring style?

I’m actually easily impressed by any kind of coloring style because I’m actually pretty bad at it haha! But if I were to describe it, well, I like bright ones, or some contrasting stuffs... and maybe some darker shades too (<-- doesnt know what she’s saying). Basically something like @adeslowmoqueen‘s, @quiethistess`, and @damucochan`s way of coloring... They’re all so unique that you end up falling in love with their works almost everyday!!

Do you like games?

RPG, MOBA, MMORPG. CLASSIC HACK-N-SLASH. ARCADE. FCK YEA Trickster Online still holds a special place in my heart. I mean look at the cute sprites! v

The night. The moon. A rainy day. A forest view. The sky when it’s dawn.

Holy crap. I rarely watch TV shows lol. But I did watch Stranger Things, basically my first and favorite. I’m now waiting for Stranger Things 2 <3

Oh no. This... is so hard to answer. HAH. Not really. ANGST anytime! //kicked

I’m a jack of all trades. HEH. Back in high school tho, my best was English and Science. In college, I did pretty well with psychology and public speaking.

Ambivert to be honest. But I guess I can be quite the extrovert to my friends.

Qn 10. Do you have any favorite movie(s)? If yes, please name some of them.

I’m actually a huge fan of animated movies- especially those with anthropomorphic animals, more than those movies with real actors and whatnot. So basically I love the classics like Brother Bear and Lion King. The recent ones now would include Finding Dory, Zootopia and Penguins of Madagascar. Special mentions to Kimi no Na Wa, Beauty and the Beast, The Boy and the Beast, and Warcraft!
