I’m crushed 😢 #RIPKobe As a person that’s quiet, often in deep thought and to myself 90% of the time except for when I’m blessing Gods people and the community, there are only a handful of people I relate to in my generation.💯 LeBron and Kobe being two of those individuals. I lost one of them today. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️Its sad for me mainly because as someone with a “DNA of Excellence” in a world full of people that is okay being mediocre, I found connectedness in Kobe.💪🏾 It took me a while to believe the reports. Lindsay-the all knowing?!

Let me start by saying... I preface this note by saying I do not now nor have I ever or will I ever have life all figured out.... And please if I ever do act like that, SLAP ME. I give you permission. Literally hit me.

Today was an incredible Sunday. I needed it. I go to a great church and I have great pastors who saved me during my awkward teen years (you know... that year where everything is out of whack and nothing goes right... that year or two for me fell on years 13 and 14...). I was literally in awe of the message that was spoken. It was on my favorite subject...Worship. I sat in my chair this morning and cried. As Justin spoke my head was swarming with my thoughts about worship. I was filled with the memories of trips abroad where you stand in the room and literally feel the presence of God. I miss that. I miss going on across the world adventures. I miss the hustle before hand and carrying my passport. I miss getting the stamps when I touch down somewhere. But most importantly... I miss the people. There's something about human connection that grips you at heart. I have never been a mother before but every time the opportunity to minister comes up, I am overwhelmed with compassion and love and with the need to protect that it tears me up to leave. I guess that's what I could say my first, true worship experience happened when I was 17 in Ghana, West Africa. I was sitting in the 3 year old preschool class on my first day there and had 5 babies crawling all over me but when I started singing "Jesus Loves Me", the crawling stopped and little voices joined in. I stopped singing and tears filled my eyes. Listening to those precious voices changed my doubting heart into a believing one. A believing heart that knew no matter how insane life got, God was there.

I wrote earlier this week out of a painful day I had. I was angry with my mom and sad that my feelings got hurt. Truth be told, I deserved what I got. I was a jerk. I wrote that my life was a bit of a disappointment. Today I was "reality checked" and remembered far worse times my family has faced and survived. I closed my eyes and took my first deep breath after months of holding it in and keeping a brave face on. God is all knowing and knows everything that concerns me and my family and whatever else is going on. God knows. I may be feeling sad and questioning every once in a while but my faith is never in myself to make things happen... it's in Him.

My moment of worship now... simply getting up in the morning, taking a deep breath and knowing that today, no matter who I come in contact with or what may happen, is going to better than the last and I am going to walk out stronger and brighter than I ever have before.

So.... It's truth time... I am not Lindsay, the all knowing. I am Lindsay, the young girl who dares to live each day as if on purpose...

There.

That's truth.
