Flawless Victory
This may seem a little sad in a couple places but I PROMISE YOU this is super fluffy cute stuff. The idea was inspired by the wonderful @imwithmidoriyaizuku and I am also tagging the darling @edwardslostalchemy because we all need some of the charming duo known as TodoDeku
There arent any real trigger warnings unless you dont like oceans, water, surfing, the sea, and things of that relavance and nature.
A TodoDeku love story.
AN
“Um, sorry if this upsets some people, but Katsuki Bakugou will most likely have very very little part in all of is. I have actually decided to just sort of turn him into more of a background character. So if you came here for the mentions of our explosive pomeranian, he isn’t here, sorry,”
-
“You’re really good, Izuku!” a familiar girlish trill brought Izuku back to reality, his body subconsciously preparing for the ever-persistent question. “How come you never went pro?” Nervous laughter filled the air around his head, it took a few moments to recognize it was his own. “Com’mon, I told you. Im way more interested in helping people, besides,” The man chuckled softly, “I get to do everything I love here.”  Some people just didn’t understand, he never wanted to go pro, in fact, he never would have learned if it hadn’t been for a certain professional. “I get to sit on the waters, save lives, and ride the wide-open waves freely.” Hearing Uraraka scoff the green-haired man couldn’t help but splash one of his long time friends. He had met them all when his mother had decided to send him off to one of the bigger cities schools rather than the little secondary education provided on their little island. They had all sort of separated ways, but every now and then one would stop by, well, all but one.
“Com’mon man, you could have been great but you just fell off the Earth after-” Uraraka paused, leaving the bright afternoon between them heavy with tension, “Izuku, I -”
Raising his hand to wave dismissively about the subject, Izuku honestly would just rather not think about it. Ever. They had been so close, and then one day the only thing he had found was a scrap of a hastily written goodbye. It wasn’t like Shoto belonged to him, and the lightly freckled man knew that it was ridiculous of him to believe that the heterochromia man would stick around forever but, to have left nothing more than a scrap of paper. As if it had been caught on something as he had tried to rip it away last minute. That had torn him up the deepest inside.
“Hey, I really am sorry, I cant imagine how difficult it must have been.”
He shot the girl a rather strained look, “Uraraka can we please just not talk about this. I’m past it already.” Yet, that couldn’t possibly be farther from the truth. Seeing Todoroki’s face all over the TV had been heart-wrenching, one day his best friend had been next to him, just one room over. Then he was gone, like smoke in a net, only to be solidified as an absolute water god on the TV as the duel haired man dominated wave after wave. It had practically knocked all the air from Izuku’s lungs, Shoto had jumped ship without a word to be absolutely famous. Famous for the same tricks he knew all too well.
She sighed heavily, reaching across her board to tap him hard against the chest, snapping his eyes open, Izuku cast a rather displeased glare toward the woman. “I just figured you would want to talk about it, considering Shoto is going to be in town next week for the tournament. He told the rest of us he would like to join the squad and me for a reunion, because of the tournament.” Running her fingers through her dripping hair, she gave him a pointed look. A look that Izuku knew all to well, it was the one she always gave him when she wanted to ask why he still hadn’t tried to reach out to Todoroki yet.
Izuku however, could have been in a completely different world, mind to busy swimming to register the side eye she was giving him. Shoto was going to be in his little tiny town. It was one thing for him to have come for the event, but for him to have chosen to stay in such a small place. For a few moments, Midoriya forgot how to breath.
-
He had no excuse, but at least he knew he hadn’t done it to be famous per se, he just couldn’t pass up such an opportunity. What had followed was the most soul-crushing emptiness Shoto had ever experienced, and his father was certainly a candidate for the worlds most emotionally distant father. He had left a note explaining everything, he had left numbers and addresses, and not once in the last four years had Izuku ever come to find him. Had it really upset the other man so deeply? Checking his flight times, his weight shifted from side to side, doing all he could to be inconspicuous. He desperately wanted one peaceful flight before he put himself directly in front of the person he missed the most. Certainly, Izuku couldn’t ignore him if he was there, he knew the golden-hearted boy had moved back home, to be closer to his mom, is what Uraraka had said. Right before she handed him a flyer for a surfing tournament.
Shoto couldn’t let this distance continue, so when he finally landed and took that almost unbearably long taxi toward the home of Izuku Midoriya, he knew he would do whatever it would take to get his friend back. How had he never thought to look here before? Perhaps it was because of the way he had only ever gushed about his mother, always shying away from his hometown and questions about it. Todoroki was curious and thirsted for the answer as to why he would ever return to such a place he was too embarrassed to speak of. Why hadn’t he ever tried to reach him, why did he just dissapear?
“You cant hide from me, Izuku Midoriya.”
-
I decided I wanted to do something more with this, so while this part may be short please be ready and waiting for what is next to come.

Ripples to Waves (Part 1)
“Just a matter of knowing when to lose,"  the man murmured, looking out towards the glittering sea. He looked deep in thought, muttering so softly that Izuku almost missed the last part.
”…and when to push back.“
OR: A strange man inadvertantly challenges izuku to return to sea
"Izuku!”
At the call, Izuku turned from his notebook and looked around to find a petite girl waving at him from a distance. The girl herself came running up to Izuku, her flip-flops spraying a little sand as she came to a stop in front of him a moment later.
“How are you Uraraka-san?” Izuku greeted with a polite smile, looking up at the girl.
The girl rolled her eyes, brushing her wind-swept bangs away. “Come on, Izuku! You know I told you to call me Ochako!”
“Ah, yeah…” Izuku muttered.
Ochako peered down into the notebook, tilting her head to the side to see the upside down writing. “What were you doing?”
Sheepishly, Izuku flipped through the pages with a dismissive shrug. “Well… I’m taking notes on the surfers’ techniques.”
“Wow!” Ochako said with wonder, a sparkle in her eyes. “That’s amazing, Izuku-kun!”
She glanced at the sea, looking at the waves. There were several surfers in the water. “Izuku-kun! Why don’t we go surfing now? I know Kyouka would lend us the boards from the Shack! I think Iida’s out there right now.”
Izuku visibly hesitated, looking warily towards the sea. “Now? But… Well…”
Ochako pulled Izuku up from his seat, pulling him closer towards the shore. “Come on! I know you don’t have anything to do this afternoon, and from what I remember, you’re great on a board!”
“…I’m really sorry, but I can’t.” Izuku said after a long pause, giving Ochako a small smile. “You go. I’ll watch.”
“Well… okay,” Ochako said disappointedly. “I suppose I’ll have to get Iida-kun to help me convince you. But next time, you will be with us out there, I know it!”
“Haha… If you say so, Uraraka-san.” Izuku murmurs, and Ochako bumps into him gently, chiming ‘it’s Ochako’ before turning to lightly jog towards the Shack, a popular general beach equipment store.
Izuku sighed as he watched her go, feeling wistful. He sat back down on the sand, opening his notebook again and staring out into the ocean. Soon his pen began writing on the pages again.
But before he had a chance to really get back in the hang of writing, a steady beeping and an embarrassed cough interrupted his thoughts. Izuku turned to find that a scraggly man with a metal detector nearby was standing with his detector very close to where he was sitting.
“Excuse me, young man, but my metal detector is telling me that there’s something right under you. Do you mind if I take your spot real quick?”
“Oh! Go right ahead.” Izuku moved over and away, turning back to his writing. He noted that the man was having some difficulty bending over, and carefully approached the man again, leaving his things a few feet away. “Sir, uh. Would you like some help digging?”
The man straightened, then gazed down at the young man. A few awkward moments after Izuku tried to stay still, “That would be appreciated, young man.”
They work in silence for a few minutes, the awkwardness trickling away with every dig.
The continuous sound of waves crashing on the shore was suddenly interrupted by shouts further along the beach; the two treasure hunters turned as one to see that a surfer had successfully executed a trick that had his friends on the shore shouting with excitement.
The emaciated man was the first to turn back to digging, and noted the longing look on Izuku’s face. When the younger man returned to digging without any comments, he curiously eyed the other and questioned him.
“Do you surf?”
Izuku looked surprised, but answered contritely. “Oh, no. I could never.”
“Why not?”
“I – uh, I have a – a medical condition.”
“I see.” The man said understandingly, then gazed back out the ocean with nostalgia. He heaved a heavy sigh, then returned to digging.
“… Do you surf?”
“My boy, I used to, but I was pulled into a surgery followed by a very long physical therapy.” He sighed again, then gestured vaguely to his midsection. “The back to back surgeries don’t really let me get a chance to go out in the water.”
Giving a sympathetic sound, Izuku wondered aloud,glancing curiously at the man. “How long were you away from the ocean?”
The man winced, involuntarily placing a hand on his stomach.
“Give or take four years.”
“Woah. Four years… That must have been some injury.” Izuku glanced at the man from the corner of his eyes. “You still came back to the beach though.”
The man laughed. “My boy, you can leave the ocean, but the ocean never leaves you.”
Izuku remained quiet, impressed by his words. He silently repeated it to himself, to write it in his notebook later.
“I noticed that you were taking a lot of notes before I came along,”
“Oh, you saw that?”
The man nodded, and quietly waited, eyeing the boy from the corner of his eyes.
“Well, I was writing some techniques and sketches of the surfers’ poses on the board.”
“Why aren’t you on a board yourself?”
Izuku fumbled with the metal detector, nearly dropping everything.
“O-oh, w-well, uh–” Izuku stammered, unable to look at the man in the eye. “Well – long story short, I’ve had an accident of sorts at sea, and… my panic… um. Yeah.”
Izuku fiddled with the wires of the detector, slowly moving the device back and forth over a different area of sand as he tried to ignore the man next to him.
There was a wistful sigh next to him.
“I was the same. Panic attacks, fear of the deep. I loved watching people surfing, but I couldn’t bring myself to go into the water.”
Izuku couldn’t help nod in agreement.
“But a good friend told me something around then, and it’s stuck with me until I found the strength to go back,” the man mused, eyes coloring with nostalgia.
“The ocean is huge, bigger than anything you could ever know – it’s you vs. the sea – and you’re going to lose, every single time,” the man murmured, looking out towards the sea, glittering under the sun.
“Just a matter of knowing when to lose,” He looked deep in thought, muttering so softly that Izuku almost missed the last part. “…and when to push back.”
A sudden ringing broke the silence, causing both men to flinch.
The mystery man fumbled with his pocket, pulling out  phone. He checked the screen, then looked at his watch.
“I believe I need to leave,” he said, taking the detector back from Izuku, who handed it over wordlessly.
“Young man, thank you," The man said with a nod of thanks. "I hope you overcome your fears.”
Izuku watched the man shuffled away, eyes glancing to and from the man to the ocean, which glittered compellingly.
“Welcome to the Sha – Izuku!”
“Hi, Kaminari. Can I borrow something?”
“…Seriously?” Kaminari asked incredulously.
“Not a surfboard. Just an inflated tube." Izuku said with a shake of his head.
"You sure man? … I mean…” Kaminari threw a worried look between the ocean and Izuku.
“Yup.” Izuku said thoughtfully, carefully checking the tube’s fit and air level.
“Well… okay…” Kaminari agreed reluctantly, eyeing Izuku worriedly. “Tell me how it goes, alright?”
“Well, I promise to try and come back intact, yeah.” Izuku muttered, moving away from the shack counter.
Frowning, Kaminari gazed after the figure walking slowly down towards the shore.
“Yo, Kirishima, you back there?” Kaminari called, without looking away from the figure.
“Yeah?” A red-headed young man with a whistle around his neck peered out from the doorway. "What’s up?“
"I know you’re on break, but can you keep an eye on the water as backup?” Kaminari said, pointing towards the green haired teen who stood watching the waves. “Izuku just went in and I can’t help feel a little worried.”
“Izuku? Seriously?” Kirishima exclaimed, finding Izuku standing at the waves. “Yeah, I better. Give me a sec.”
Kirishima disappeared again to the back, reappearing again with a lifeguard’s board.
“I appreciate it, Kirishima,” Kaminari said with a clap on the red head’s shoulders.
“Nah dude, it’s my job.” Kirishima said with a grin, jogging towards the lifeguard tower.

genre: merman AU, fluff

a/n: i decided not to make it a ‘curse’ so to say so i hope that’s okay! also this got pretty long lol. enjoy xx
~
The smell of the ocean was one that you never got tired of. The feeling when you first touch the water, and it’s so cold that you want to run back to shore. The sand so warm that you melted into it. The burning sun above you with just a few clouds surrounding it. There was no place on earth you’d rather be.
You sat on your lifeguard seat out looking the screen before you. People getting sunburnt, children learning to swim, teens taking endless amounts of photos. You loved the beach. It was honestly your second home. It was silly, but something about the ocean called out to you. Every time you tired to listen however, it faded away. You were sure it was just your curiosity getting the best of you.
Izuku Midoriya hid behind the rock structure that was a bit farther out from shore. He knew he shouldn’t be above the surface, especially with so many humans around, but he couldn’t help it. He was fascinated by them. He would do anything just to get close to one, but he knew he never could.
Izuku looked back at his tail in the water. It’s green and dark blue scales glistened against the sun’s rays. Izuku loved his tail, he loved his life as a merman after all, but he knew that the human world was speaking to him. He couldn’t just ignore it.
He moved to the side of the rock structure. Still staying low enough for no one to see him, he hoped. He placed his hand on one of the rocks, hoping to better situate himself. Izuku looked at you from where you sat. He just knew you were beautiful. Your smile brighter than the sun, your laugh louder than crashing waves. He had seen you at this beach every summer. Always for a few months at a time before you disappeared. He wondered if it was you that called him.
Suddenly, the large rock that Midoriya leaned against slipped from its place. It glided down to where his tail was, trapping it between the rocks. He covered his mouth as to not shout from the pain. He pushed against the rock but it wouldn’t budge. He tired swimming, causing a mess of splashes around him. Nothing worked. His panic started to rise as he feared someone would see him.
“Hey Y/N, your break started like five minutes ago,” said one of your fellow lifeguards, Bakugou.
“I took mine earlier,” you explained. Bakugou nodded. You took your binoculars and began to search the ocean out of protocol. A scene caught your eye.
You saw a man trapped by the rocks, splashing away trying to break free. You immediately dropped down from where you were seated and ran over to the jet skis, dragging it into the water.
“Hey what’s going on?” shouted Bakugou.
“Someone stuck, I’ve got this!” You turned the keys of the ski and rode out to the ocean.
When Izuku saw someone was headed towards him, he was sure that it was over for him. He dove his head under the surface, still continuing to swim though he went no where.
You turned off the jet ski a few feet away from him before diving in the water.
“Hey you’re gonna be okay,” you reassured him. Izuku shook his head.
“Uh I’m fine! You can leave!” He said. You continued to swim towards him. You reached him and placed your hand on the rock. Izuku continued to splash as to hide his tail.
“Hey hey, I’m a lifeguard, I’m here to help you,” you explained. Izuku stopped splashing when he realized it was you. His heart dropped to the bottom of the ocean.
“I-I-”
“Did your leg get caught?” You asked. Izuku didn’t say anything. You swam around the rock structure, before making eye contact with him. His bright green eyes looked terrified.
“Hey I’m not gonna hurt you, I’m just gonna...” your voiced trailed off as your eyes moved from his face to his legs. Or to where his legs should be.
The entire bottom of his tail was stuck under the large rock. You tried to wrap your mind around what you saw. A tail.
“This isn’t real...”
“Please I’ll leave as soon as I get unstuck,” he pleaded. You took a deep breath.
“Here, I-I’ll push this side and you get the other, okay?” You said. You placed your hands on the rock and Izuku followed your instructions. You both lifted the rock just enough for his tail to get out. He immediately ripped it away and attempted to swim away.
“Wait! Y-You’re hurt. Let me help you,” you said. Izuku looked down at his now ripped tail. He looked at you. He was right. You were beautiful.
You swam over to the jet ski, grabbing the first-aid kit from the back of it. Izuku followed you, handing over his tail for you to wrap up.
“What your name? If you don’t mind me asking,” you whispered.
“Uh, I-Izuku. What’s yours?”
“Y/N. So, uh, are you a real merman?” You asked nervously. He chuckled.
“I guess I am. Are you a real human?”
“I guess so. This is pretty crazy, I’m not gonna lie,” you laughed. You wrapped up Izuku’s tail and set it back in the water.
“Thank you, that was really kind,” he said. You smiled. Izuku turned around, preparing to swim away.
“Wait-”
Izuku looked back at you.
“Is there any chance I could see you again?” You asked. Izuku smiled.
“Meet me here after sunset tonight.”
With that, he dove back into the water, swimming away with such speed. You took a deep breath. It’s not every day you see a merman, and certainly not one as attractive as him.
~
Just as promised, you met Izuku by the rocks after sunset. You and him met each other there for weeks. You soon looked forward to seeing Izuku, as you loved to be with him.
He would take your hand, guiding you through the water. He would show you the different sea life. He would tell you things about the watery world just as you told him of the one on land.
Your heart pounded each time you saw him. You knew you had fallen in the deep for him. You also knew it could never work, which broke your heart. There was a reason mermen and humans stayed in their own worlds.
“Same time tomorrow?” said Izuku. You smiled.
“Sure.”
You swam over to your jet ski before feeling Izuku’s hand on yours.
“Y/N...”
“Yes?”
“If there was a way for us to be together, would you want that?” he asked. Your eyes widened.
“I mean of course. I’d do anything to be with you, but we both know that’s not possible.”
“What if it was? Would you want that?” Izuku stared into your eyes then placed his hand onto your cheek. Your face grew warm.
“Yes, I would.”
“Okay. Goodnight Y/N.”
“Goodnight Izuku.”
~
“EAT THIS!”
Izuku stared at the small fiber before him.
“You sure this is gonna work?” He questioned. Toshinori laughed.
“Of course it will! When you touch the sea water, you’ll gain your tail, and when your on land, you have those leg things! Trust me! But once you eat it, you’ll gain your legs right away.”
Izuku took the fiber from Toshinori’s hand. He sighed.
“Alright then.”
He swallowed the hair whole, trying his best not to throw it back up.
Izuku soon felt his tail shake. The tail began to split into two, but it caused him no pain. He began to swim up to the surface as fast as he could, soon losing his ability to breath underwater.
Izuku gasped for air and began to tread water. He looked to his now absent tail, staring at his legs. He smiled. He began to paddle to shore. It was night time, so no one was around.
Once he felt sand, Izuku walked onto the beach, his legs still a little wobbly. He ran over to one of the beach carts, snatching a pair of shorts from one of the racks. He then made his way over to your small beach house.
You sat on your bed, sipping from the smoothie your just made. The night before, Izuku had told you that he couldn’t meet you tonight, so you were left missing him.
You soon heard a small knock on your door. You raised a brow and set the smoothie down. You weren’t expecting anyone tonight, so who on earth could it be?
You opened the door, then froze.
“Hi...”
Izuku’s hair was still messy and wet, but that wasn’t what caught your eye. You stared down at his legs.
“B-But h-how?” You stuttered. Izuku smiled.
“I told you there was a way.”
Izuku took your hands but you instead wrapped your arms around him. He hugged you so tightly, carrying you back inside your house. He laid you down on your bed, hovering over you.
“This isn’t real...”
“You said the same thing when we met and here we are. Nothing’s impossible Y/N,” he smirked. You cupped his cheeks, bringing his face closer to you.
“You’re so stuck with me now.”
You pressed your lips against Izuku’s, still tasting the lingering salt water that was left on them. You moved your hands to his hair, running them through the wet strands. Izuku has been dreaming of this kiss from the moment he laid eyes on you. It was certainly worth the wait.
He looked at you, his face flushed red. Izuku kissed you once more.
“I’m okay with that.”

Midoriya x Reader or Gen (depending on how you read it)
Summertime beach conversations, Midoriya has probably taken a philosophy class and Reader has a (trash) personality, read the tags if ya really wanna know
I wrote this after seeing the second BNHA movie a year ago and figured I might as well put it somewhere!
Words: ~3K ish
Warnings: swearing, property damage, fire, allusions to violence, the good people aren’t actually the good people
~~~
It’s hot as hell out, and worse even it’s humid––one of those days where you feel like you’re drowning on land. Even sitting beneath the shade of an umbrella, you feel a thick layer of sweat clinging to your arms, your upper lip, your forehead.
The heat hasn’t seemed to stop any beachgoers from arriving in droves though. The fifth family of four to arrive in the past thirty minutes strolls by you, making a fuss of finding somewhere to sit in the already-overcrowded picnic area. An older man in a polo balances a stack of several overpriced burger combos on his food tray while two children tug at the legs of the woman’s linen pants, chirping out mom, mommy, mommy, mom’s like a pair of seagulls. They just stand there taking up space for several minutes before their eyes fall on you and your single extra empty chair. You resist the urge to bang your face into the tabletop as they begin to walk your way.
‘Mom’ (you can only assume) lets out a fake cough and asks “is this seat taken?” in a too-polite tone. She grabs the back of the chair in question, which absolutely rubs you the wrong way because it’s almost like she’s already thinking about dragging the thing away, like asking is just a formality and she’ll be taking the chair regardless of what you have to say about it.
“Actually, it is,” you say with a reluctant, tight-lipped smile, “my friend is getting me a drink. Sorry.” You’re not sorry. Thankfully though, nobody lingers long enough to coax that out of you; the small crowd of them bolt off to bother some other person as they rise from their table.
You exhale and roll up the sleeves of your tee, forcing down all the blood that’s pulsing between your ears. You shouldn’t be this annoyed. Really, you shouldn’t. This family (and the four before them) had just been looking for somewhere to sit. Even though they all came asking the same questions with the same irritating expressions stretched across their faces, there was no reason to let yourself get all bothered. You should know better than to let little meaningless things get to you, but then again...you were also...well, you. Quick to snap. Stubborn. Downright hostile most of the time, and you couldn’t even pretend to be anything other than that. You weren’t sly or subtle, couldn’t try to appease people like––
As if on cue, Midoriya pops into your peripheral vision, the red, yellow, blue of his All Might backpack sticking out in the crowd. He finds you quick, scurrying over and placing two cans of pineapple soda on the table. When he drops his bag onto the ground, you can feel the heavy thud reverberate through the boardwalk.
“Got enough rocks in there, Izuku?” You ask as Midoriya pulls out his chair. He laughs, cheeks pink, and pops open his soda.
“I think so.”
“You were gone so long, I’d be real disappointed if you didn’t have something to show for it.” Midoriya sends an apologetic smile your way.
“There were a couple things I had to take care of. A group of kids stepped on some glass while they were playing volleyball, so I had to take them to the visitors center to get fixed up. Then, while I was on my way back to tape off the area, an old lady asked for help carrying her cooler to her car, so that was another thing.” He unfolds two fingers, like he’s trying to keep track of where he is in the story. “Then…” Midoriya recounts every minute detail of his excursion: the missing wallet by the pier, the lifeguard that needed to take a bathroom break, the tourists that hadn’t understood the definition of “sandbar” and got lost looking for some shoreside tiki bar.
“No vacation for an up-and-coming hero, huh?” You tease. “Not even with no teachers to give you busy work? Nabu island is pretty deserted for a vacation town. I’m surprised U.A. is taking the risk,” you rest your forearms on the table and lean in close, “you know, after Kamino.” Midoriya’s eyes shoot up from his soda, locking onto yours.
“They’re being careful,” he says, looking on-edge all of a sudden, “making us work in teams, calling in every night. I think they know they can’t afford to be at the center of another incident.”
“All Might isn’t around anymore––“
“He is though––“ Midoriya interjects.
“But he’s retired, not a hero. The guy was an absolute badass––quite frankly I think he was the only hero worth all the hype––but the fact is that if something goes wrong, nobody can count on him to swoop in and save them anymore. You know that. If anyone really cared about preventing another Kamino, the students would be back at school under the direct supervision of your teachers.” You feel a heat (completely unrelated to the hot day) rushing back to your head and lean back in your chair, arms folded. “Instead, they’re out here alone. The way I see it, the heroes are trying to pull a bluff: ‘come at us, we aren’t scared.’ But if some villain takes advantage of that, what happens is that people get screwed. Students break, and once someone manages to tape them back together, the system labels it ‘a learning experience.’ Fucked up, is what it really is.”
Midoriya is quiet for a while after that, eyes glued on you still, but saying nothing. You hadn’t meant to launch into a rant––really you hadn’t. But...but it just pissed you off beyond belief, and you weren’t good at holding your tongue. You couldn’t lie, and you wouldn’t, not to Midoriya. That wasn’t the way the two of you operated.
There’s a sudden pop, and you look down and realize you’ve snapped the tab off your soda can. You hadn’t even noticed that you’d been fiddling with it. Midoriya sighs, bringing you back to the present moment.
“There are problems with heroes,” he finally says, green eyes catching light as a soft smile tugs at his lips, “I’m not naive enough to sit around twiddling my thumbs and hoping things will change by themselves.” Midoriya’s expression changes with the end of his sentence. His gaze narrows, suddenly intense––like he’s looking into you rather than at you––and his soft smile becomes something sharper, more deliberate. You can’t find a word to describe it before Midoriya begins scooching his chair around the table, legs scraping against the boardwalk until he’s next to you rather than in front of you. “I intend to be the change. I’m going to do whatever it takes to fix things. People deserve to have heroes they can actually trust running things.”
Determined. That was the word for his expression, his assurances.
“Aw, I always knew you were a closet revolutionary.” You tease, donning an exaggerated look of admiration. “Soon you’ll be out there with me and the others, dismantling the hero association right beneath everyones’ noses. But baby steps, I guess.” Midoriya chuckles and leans over like he’s going to drape his arm across your shoulder. You shimmy out of the way just before he does, casting an apologetic look his way.
“You really don’t wanna do that: I’ve been sweating nonstop for the past few hours. I’m practically toxic right now.” Midoriya purses his lips in a pathetically pouty display. So pathetic that you have to wipe the moisture from your palms just so you can give his cheek a playful pinch.
“Come on, stop making that face. You know I can’t resist that face.” Midoriya yanks himself away, grinning wide and rubbing at his pink-tinged cheek.
“Am I the one that’s a ‘closet revolutionary?’” He asks playfully, leaping back to the previous conversation. He uses his foot to drag his backpack closer. “I’m out here working hard. Meanwhile I see the group’s name across headlines everywhere, but not a single one mentions you. No name, no picture…”
“They don’t want me out ‘in the public eye.’” You say, rolling your eyes.
“Do they think you’re too valuable to risk losing?” Midoriya asks, the seriousness returning to his voice. He grabs his bag, then drops it in your lap. It feels as heavy as it looks––at least 20 pounds, easy.
“No, they just don’t trust me,” you sigh. “You know I’m no good with people: too aggressive, too impatient…” Your voice trails off as you reach into the main pocket. The All Might zipper flashes a cartoonish grin your way as you reach in and grab a rock, the smoothest you can find by just feeling around a little. It fits nicely in your palm, only just bigger than a tennis ball.
“Neither is Kacchan, but he made it into U.A.. Are you sure––”
“Bakugo is the reason nobody lets me do anything yet.” You say, grinding your teeth together. There it was, your trademark temper flaring up again. “You’ve been away in the dorms ever since Kamino happened, so you only hear bits and pieces of everything. Even now, they sent me out here cause they knew you’d be around to keep me in check. Shigaraki has had his fill of loose cannons; he doesn’t want to risk another ‘recruit’ causing issues, so he insists on sending me out with babysitters.”
Midoriya makes a couple thoughtful noises, but doesn’t argue. He can’t because he’s known Shigaraki for way longer than you have, which means that he knows you’re right. The League had taken a gamble trying to get Katsuki Bakugo on their side and it’d nearly wiped them out; the only reason they had any semblance of a structure left was because All for One had connections in place. Abandoned properties they could hide out in, powerful allies that would turn a blind eye to a couple ravaged storehouses. Still, the bottom line was that the group was struggling. Accepting new recruits was a gamble, but with its reduced manpower and dwindling resources, it was one the League couldn’t afford to pass up. Still, desperation didn’t mean they’d let themselves make the same mistake twice.
“My quirk is kinda like his, right? Like Bakugo’s?”  You ask, absentmindedly rolling the rock against the back of your neck then up and down the length of your arms. “I’ve always wondered if that meant we’d get along––you know, if we were on the same side.” Midoriya grimaces.
“I don’t know about that.”
“Why, is he an asshole?”
Midoriya scratches his neck and looks off to the side. You press your lips together and nod knowingly.
“Oh. Should’ve figured as much from what everyone said. It’s just Dabi says everyone is an asshole so I figured––” You’re interrupted when Midoriya’s phone chimes to life. Midoriya glances at it for a millisecond before shoving it back and turning to you.
“Avery’s in position. Gotta move now.” Midoriya mutters just loud enough so you can hear it. He dumps the contents of his backpack onto the boardwalk then loops the strap over one of his shoulders, standing quickly. A sour, burning taste creeps up the back of your throat.
“Wait, wait, wait, Avery’s here too?” You ask, not even trying to hide your irritation. Midoriya never so much as mentioned Avery. You can only assume that was intentional––there were no accidents with him. “I thought this was gonna be a hit-and-dash type thing. Shigaraki doesn’t send Avery anywhere unless he thinks shit might get serious.”
There’s no hint of humor left in Midoriya’s eyes when they find you again. This was the same guy you’d been joking with just minutes ago, the same one that had been laughing like he didn’t have a care in the world. It’s scary how easy it is to forget how he is, how he can just flip at a moment’s notice.
“Just follow the plan.” Midoriya says. “Avery’s only here to make sure nobody remembers your face. Nabu island is small; there aren’t a lot of places to hide out once the heroes make an appearance.”
“I don’t like not knowing things, Izuku.” You keep your voice flat when you say it, but it’s still an understatement of huge proportions. You’re livid. This is a small omission to be so angry over, but small omissions were a testament to the exact thing you’d been ranting to Midoriya about. The bottom line was that the League didn’t trust you. Midoriya was apparently included in that number. He’d listened and pretended to know nothing, but really he knew everything. That was the way he was, and it had been stupid of you not to forget that. “Besides, weren’t you the one pointing out how I never showed up in any headlines? Wouldn’t this be a great opportunity to show off the shiny new recruit?”
You finish and Midoriya stares, expression hard. Then, he takes a step forward. Some deep, primal part of you wants to back away when he does, but against all instincts you stand your ground. When he finally speaks, it’s a question.
“Do you know why All Might is retired now?” You sit there, silently with your rock in hand as Midoriya hovers over you. It doesn’t feel like he actually wants you to answer. You’re proven right when he continues. “All Might is retired because he was great. Civilians knew to trust him with their lives and criminals knew that they were in trouble if he showed up. I don’t think there’s a single person in Japan that doesn’t know his name.” Midoriya pauses. “That made him a target. Every person that ever got in trouble with the system had a symbol they could blame, someone they could rise up against, oppose; you didn’t see that happening with heroes like Endeavor and Edgeshot. They didn’t have people going after them day in and day out, and that’s why they’re still around. People are always stronger when they have a common enemy.
“The League has many faces,” Midoriya continues, “which means that proponents of ‘justice’ have their resources split trying to take down nearly a hundred different people. Shigaraki is the one they really want, of course, but he’s harder to find when he’s surrounded by so many others. But then there are people like you, me, and Avery––the ones that nobody knows they have to worry about yet. We have the freedom to do real damage, to dismantle things from right under everyone’s noses.”
And in that very second, something clicks.
“You. You’re the one that wants to keep me under wraps.” The words feel like someone else is saying them. You exhale once, shakily. “You convinced Shigaraki to hold off on sending me out until you could guarantee I’d have anonymity on my side.” The idea of it is ridiculous. Midoriya is so young, still a student. Even though he’d managed to snatch an advantageous position amongst the heroes, the notion of him getting Shigaraki on board with any of his ideas concerning the League would be––
Midoriya smiles, an answer. The gesture doesn’t carry to his eyes.
“I look up to All Might, really I do. But I’ll be the first to admit he wasn’t perfect. He made mistakes I don’t intend to repeat. If everyone thinks Shigaraki and the others are the only ones they have to worry about, that only makes things easier for the rest of us. I don’t like giving up an advantage when I have it.” Midoriya places a hand on your shoulder, squeezing. “Get it?” You swallow thickly.
“Got it.” His grip on you is firm––not enough to hurt, but enough to get the point across: despite his age, Midoriya is dangerous. He has power and apparently influence. Just how much, you can only wonder.
“Then get to work. Avery will meet you by the market once someone calls for the heroes, then while you guys are heading out the others will start causing trouble here.”  Midoriya’s head snaps upward suddenly. His grin goes toothy, innocent and worlds away from the sinister one he’d been sporting throughout the conversation. He pats your shoulder once before holding his hand up, acknowledging someone behind you. You turn and see a lanky guy you don’t recognize waving back at him from the edge of the water. “I guess I should go find Uraraka and Iida before they get nervous. I’ve got a reputation, but it’ll get weird if I’m always around the trouble when it happens.”
“Can’t push your luck, I guess.” You say, your throat dry. “No unnecessary risks.”
“You’re finally starting to get it.” He starts walking towards the stranger––well, probably not a stranger to him, but still. When he passes, he adds a final, “move at 1:35 PM” before rushing off and becoming Izuku Midoriya, U.A. student again. Not Izuku Midoriya, underworld informant, instigator of the rebellion on the horizon.
There’s a power in being able to choose a face, you muse, looking down at the rock in your hand. Midoriya knew what he wanted. He was willing to do anything, play any part as long as it meant he ended up on the winning side. You can’t decide if it’s terrifying or...or impressive. Hell, you could hardly get through a conversation without finding something to make yourself upset over. And once that happened? Forget about acting rational. Of course, it was important that Midoriya stayed on your side; he was a dangerous person to have as an enemy.
You groan, sick of thinking about it already. The minutes roll by, and after what feels like an eternity of waiting, it’s time to act. You stand and not a single person walks up to you asking if they can have your table. They probably don’t even see you––Avery’s work, no doubt. Like it or not, Midoriya had a point: you could work easier when you didn’t have to worry about drawing attention to yourself. Uhg. You’d probably have to admit that to him later––try to stay on his good side. He’s bound to get all “of course I’m right” with you then...whatever. Not the time.
You give the rock a final toss, catching it in the opposite hand. The thing is beyond sticky now, coated in a thick layer of sweat. Gross, but exactly what you need. It pulses in your hand, warm to hot to scorching. When you finally lob it through the window of the nearest food truck it’s practically molten, barreling through the back wall of the vehicle like a cannonball. Not exactly what you’d intended. It doesn’t explode until it hits a grassy patch just shy of the parking lot, sweat igniting into angry red flames that dart out in every direction. There are a couple screams, but it’s mostly confusion for the first few seconds. Then a fiery chunk of rock lands on the straw roof of a cabana, sending the whole thing up in a cloud of smoke. The real panic starts after that.
Once again, not exactly what you’d intended. It works, but there just isn’t enough...umf to it for your tastes. You let out a thin stream of air over your teeth, leaning over to grab another rock from your pile. Some teen bolts past you, knocking you hard in the shoulder as he goes, but you don’t so much as cast a dirty look his way. You’re too busy winding up your next throw. You have to be better. A little bit of chaos isn’t enough: the heroes won’t show unless there’s absolute pandemonium engulfing the beach.
Fortunately for you, it’s hot as hell. You’ve got loads of sweat to spare.
Yo, it’s my birthday! 🥳 So here's another mini fic snippet that takes place on Deku’s birthday to celebrate! This one is for the Bakudeku summer beach fic I was working on :D
There is a trigger warning for drowning, so please be careful if you are sensitive to that. Thanks y'all.
TW: Drowning
Enjoy and I’ll try to post the whole thing on ao3 later today too <3
•••
Each breath he attempts to take, is filled with water that burns his nose and lungs. He is sputtering and coughing and that just sends more water down the hatch. His limps are spasming and he’s flailing and grasping for nothingness as his arms clutch at more and more and more water. God.
Izuku is drowning.
He’s actually really drowning.
On his 20th birthday.
If he wasn’t going to die from drowning, he’d die from mortification.
His poor mother will be so distraught. And his group members will be so angry on Monday because he was supposed to send them the report after he finished editing. And his friends. God, his friends who came here with him. Iida, Urakaka and Todoroki. What about them? He hopes they won’t blame themselves.
In the distance, there’s the sound of splashing water and a faint ‘Outta the way, fuckers!’
It’s the last thing Izuku hears before everything goes quiet and it all fades to black.
☆☆☆☆☆☆
Izuku is dreaming.
Someone, on top of him, someone…. Kissing him? Um, what?
The person kissing him pulls away and Izuku sees a halo of blond fluffy hair and captivating red eyes. At this point he’s pretty sure he’s died and gone to heaven. And although the thought that he’d actually died is sort of a depressing thought, the knowledge that the afterlife is full of hot guy angels is very comforting, to say the least. Izuku barely resists the urge to wrap his arms around the blond angel's neck and pull him back down for another kiss.
That is, until Izuku tries to close his eyes and keep the dream going. Because who’d want a dream like that to end? But… As soon as he let’s his eyes flutter back shut, the angel roughly pats (slaps) Izuku on his face.
“Oi, stay with me, bastard!” Punctuates the action, and Izuku’s eyes shoot open again. He tries to breath and ends up coughing up water.
The angel (maybe not angel, because angels don’t traditionally hit or curse at people… right?) brings his face to his again and put his lips against his. He breathes into him and pushes on his chest and … wait a second.
One pump. Two pumps, three pumps.
And Izuku realizes what’s going on as they both turn away again, the angel to take a breath again and Izuku to cough up even more water that has risen into his mouth.
“Midoriya!” …Iida…?
Izuku wants to look around, but it’s sort of really bright and his senses are all over the place. Also, he realizes he’s lying down. The sand is like a furnace on his probably sunburned back and the sky is so blue and the blond boy’s hair looks even more like a crown against the sky backdrop.
Izuku tries to get a grip on his surroundings by rolling his head from side to side, and catches a glimpse of a couple things, finally. He makes our Uraraka's brown hair and Todoroki’s blue swim trunks and Iida's looming figure which is much closer than his other friends. Iida is the one Izuku focuses is on because he is shouting.
What happened…?
Izuku vaguely remembers swimming, and then… what else? A drowning, presumably?
Iida is positively losing him mind just behind the blond guy, and those gathered on the beach who didn’t actually witness his embarrassing drowning and following rescue, is now hearing the horrible details. Which is awful but also helpful because Izuku's waterlogged brain can’t remember much currently. And so, Izuku tries to focus on his friend's hysterical ramblings.
“Oh Lord, I knew this was a bad idea. A terrible idea. I shouldn’t have let Todoroki and Uraraka plan this. I have absolutely failed as not only a citizen of this city, but also as a friend. Did you know it’s his birthday today? And this is how it ends? HE ALMOST DIED ON HIS BIRTHDAY!”
The blond stops abruptly and snaps his head around to Izuku’s blue haired friend.
“Oi, four eyes. I’m a life guard. He’s not dead yet. Calm your tits. And could you advertise this shitshow any louder?” The life guard snaps.
Iida looks scandalized for a moment before he collects himself, and the next time he speaks it’s about three octaves lower. Thank God.
“Apologies. It’s just, a lot, Midoriya drowning.” Iida says with a loud sniff.
“Almost. He’s fine. Hey jackass, how many fingers?” Even though it’s a question, from the blond it sounds like a barked command. It’s a little blurry, but Izuku blinks a couple times until everything comes into focus and he can make out the hand in front of him.
“Three.” He groans. The life guard grunts in approval.
“Good. Can you stand?”
“Yes.” Izuku starts to sit up, and warm, sun kissed hands meet his back and chest to slowly rise him into a sitting position. It is only sitting up that he finally looks around and sees the mini crowd that has formed around him. Their watching and whispering in hushed voices that makes the green haired boy flush. Oh God, hopefully he doesn’t go viral on YouTube. Or even worse, Tik Tok.
“Alright, let’s get you to my office. There’s a cot in there that you can rest on for a bit. And get rid of the fucking gawkers.” The blond says loudly. The crowd startles, and disperses thankfully.
The blond life guard slings one of Izuku’s arms over his shoulder and slowly the both of them rise.
“You good?” He asks.
The green-haired boy tries not to focus on how warm the arm around him is, or how their thighs are pressed together or how he can hear the faint thump thump thump of the other boy's heart.
“Mhm!” Izuku hopes that the slight voice crack he feels and hears is only a figment of his imagination.
The blond doesn’t say anything further and just starts leading them away from the ocean.
Izuku guesses there’s some small mercies, because the only thing that would have been more embarrassing than drowning in knee length water is being carried bridal style to the lifeguards’ booth.
FV Pt. One
Flawless Victory Part One
A TodoDeku love story.
AN
“Um, sorry if this upsets some people, but Katsuki Bakugou will most likely have very very little part in all of is. I have actually decided to just sort of turn him into more of a background character. So if you came here for the mentions of our explosive pomeranian, he isn’t here, sorry.”
Please dont go any further if you dont like surfing, water, open bodies of water, oceans, or themes of that nature.
Does it Almost Feel Like Nothings Changed
When Izuku had agreed to brunch, he didn’t realize he was agreeing to an interrogation as well, why couldn’t his friends understand, Izuku may just never be ready to actually confront those deeply bruising feelings. It wasn’t like he never wanted to see Shoto again, he just figured if they should ever be forced to meet again it should at least be under actually forced circumstances. “I agree with Uraraka, this isn’t something you can just ignore. I really think this is all overdue honestly, Izuku, don’t you?” Snapping his hardened stare in the blue-haired man’s direction, Midoriya bit down carefully on his tongue. It had in fact been an incredibly long time, almost a little over four years in honesty, but whenever he tried to confront the memory he just couldn’t quite seem to breathe. Pulling nervously at the curls cropping up from under his cap, the man gave the menu in his other hand a once over. Surely they couldn’t be serious, though it wasn’t really in Iida’s nature to make light or jokes of something so serious.
Shifting his gaze back to the trio around him, Izuku swallowed harshly, from the grave expressions he was greeted with Izuku was certain there was no way they were joking. “I dont think I am ready for something like that just yet.” The choir of groans that greeted him left him shrinking into his seat, and for a moment it felt like secondary schooling all over again. “I just don’t know if I will ever be ready guys.”  Watching the auburn-haired woman nod slowly at his panic left Izuku irritated, how could they not lead with this. “Look, Izuku, we really think you guys should talk it out, he seemed super excited to see you,” Uraraka mentioned carefully to the man, he could tell she was doing her best not to frighten him off. It wasn’t working.
“Not to mention,” now it was Iida’s turn to, again, try and persuade him, “you guys use to be incredibly close. Dont you miss him?” Snapping his narrowing gaze to the other man, Izuku felt his hands begin to quake once more. They had been shaking ever since it had been made known to him that Shoto was coming, but here in this moment, it had gotten particularly bad.
 “He really misses you,” Tsu had been quietly sitting alongside Izuku, gaze ever fixated upon her own menu. She hadn’t had a lot to say on the matter, and he appreciated that. However, what she did have to contribute had his heart twisting in a way it hadn’t in years. “Look,” he began to respond quietly, slowly laying his menu to rest against the tables gleaming surface, “I’m just not sure I am ready, I just don’t know if I can look at him right now.”
Tsu shifts her gaze away from her menu finally and gives Izuku a hard stare, “We are having a reunion dinner tomorrow, we will all be there to help you, so come, okay?”
Letting the plastic page finally slap against the table, he groaned audibly in defeat, “Okay, fine, you guys win. You’re right, I have to face this because if I don’t face it now things will just get even worse in the future.” Exhaling deeply, Izuku hung his head, how could he ever be ready for this?
-
To say Shoto was excited would be a grand understatement, he practically radiated energy. Tsu had actually offhandedly mentioned that Todoroki could probably power a small building or two with the electricity surging through his nerves, he had hardly noticed. Crammed into a Taxi with his fellow green-haired professional for a rather long drive had given him plenty of time to think about what their reunion would be like. He was unusually chatty, that too got an offhanded comment about how he sounded a lot like Midoriya in school all those years ago when he would ramble. Shoto honestly couldn’t be bothered with such trivial things, he was so close to his goal at this point.
“What do you mean he said no?” desperation echoed deep in his tone as he eyed Uraraka restlessly, “I have to talk to him, don’t you understand? The longer I wait to do this, the worse things are going to get.” Frustrated he shifted his stare between Iida and the auburn-haired woman. They had arrived a few days prior to he and Asui, promising to talk to Izuku, promising to convince him to meet with Shoto so things could finally be rectified. Yet, when he had arrived the pair had shaken their heads in defeat, Izuku had spent most of the past few days dodging every question or probe the pair sent out. “He simply isn’t ready Shoto,” Iida stated calmly, reaching out to put a hand on the other man’s shoulder. “This is up to Izuku, not you, or me, or any of us. He was deeply hurt, it took a couple of years before we even learned where he was, and even then he made us swear not to talk to you about it. I can’t imagine what you’re going through, but you need to give him space, you guys were friends for such a long time.”
Shoto didn’t want to listen to logic, he wanted his friend back, but the tight grip on his shoulder that kept him in his seat didn’t appear to be easing up in the slightest. Relaxing just a fraction, he took a deep shaking breath, he needed to be patient, he had been patient enough to wait for his friends to reveal to him where Izuku had actually gone. Now, he just needed to be patient enough with Izuku for the man to welcome him, “What if he never wants me back in his life?”
He swallowed painfully against the lump forming in his throat at the red-eyed man’s next words, “Then, that’s just something you’re going to have to respect. If you want to be friends again you have to let him sort his feelings out in his own way.”
-
He was going to go, really, he was, it was just the simple fact that he had grown uncharacteristically cowardly. Where was the boy who blatantly defied authority and regularly threw himself into the fray of chaos to do what was right? Yet here he was, clutching his hands in matching vice grips, to nervous to set foot inside the little restaurant. Just feet away, he could hear the quiet cool tone of a voice that he never could have forgotten. It haunted his dreams, even to this day, and was the exact tone Izuku read the scrap of a letter with.  He was laughing, and it reminded Izuku of a warm summers evening, even without him insight, the green-eyed man knew exactly how those different coloured eyes would light up. It had taken some time, but the first time Shoto had actually deeply laughed had been a moment Izuku would cherish for the rest of his life. It was as if the whole room had taken on a different kind of glow, as if somewhere deep inside the other man a fire had been ignited. He just couldn’t do it.
  “Izuku,” curious, soft, and absolutely heart wrenching, his head snapped up, orbs widening to dinner plates at the poised gentleman before him. His hair was still the same as it had always been, only now it lay tied up and clipped away from his slender face. “Shoto?” Butterflies threatened to surface with the queasy discomfort at the sudden meeting between the two. “Izuku.” Happier now, Shoto’s voice rang around in his head sending his heart into overdrive. When was the last time someone had said his name in such a fashion?
He couldn’t believe it, there he was, there was the boy now grown man, standing right before him. How could he not be delighted, he had been waiting for this moment for the last couple years, ever since he found out Uraraka knew where the man was hiding out. “I was hoping you would come.” Shoto felt his smile slowly start to fall as Izuku began to take a slow unsure step away from him, “I have so much to tell you.” Reaching out carefully, Todoroki avoided any sudden movements that would startle the clearly unnerved individual. “I don’t believe it.” There it was, that voice that had been absent from his life for far too long, unfortunately, the way it squeaked out into the world left Shoto baffled. “Izuku, I just want to explain-”
Cut off by the sharp shout, Shoto recoiled, “I can’t see you right now!”
“Izuku come back!” Shouting with concern, he didn’t bother letting the rest of his party know where he was headed before he broke out into a run. He was determined to make this right, even if things didn’t go the way he wanted them to.
-
Panting heavily, Shoto pressed his palms to his knees, lungs desperately sucking in oxygen before he wailed painfully,  “You fell off the world Izuku, how could I have ever found you!” Lifting his head Shoto gasped nosily, he never remembered Izuku holding such endurance, “Zu, you just vanished, I never thought to come here because you never wanted to talk about this place. Why did you come here?” Hanging his head once more, unable to gaze into those wide startled orbs that had drawn him in all those years ago, “Why did you go to the one place I never thought to check?”
Izuku stood there in the empty street, chest heaving as his lungs screamed for air and his muscles cried out for a rest, that hadn’t been the answer he had been expecting when he had questioned why Shoto hadn’t come sooner. “Uraraka refused to tell me, I found photos of you guys on her computer, and she said you wanted your privacy. Why did you hide from me?” Chewing his lip in frustration, Izuku shifted to turn his back on the other man trying to pretend he didn’t hear the strangled cry begging him not to run away.
“You just left, Shoto, doesn’t that mean anything to you?” Digging his fingers deep into his green curls, he lowered himself into a crouch, curling up on himself almost. Izuku just couldn’t rationalize why Shoto would be looking so hard for him after he had left in such a brisk way. “I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about Izuku, I left you my information and you never called me. You never came looking for me, and I told you right where to find me.” Shotos’ response was yet another shock to Izukus system. Head swivelling, he nearly fell onto his arse, green eyes wide once more with confusion, then narrowing with anger.
Shoto had slowly straightened back up, taking slow steady steps towards Izuku, he was tired, he just wanted to move past this obvious misunderstanding. However, as those green windows began to narrow he found himself coming to a halt once more. “You left me a note?” Izukus tone was humorous and didn’t fit his expression at all as he began to rise to his feet. Groaning softly, Shoto reminded himself of what Iida had said, he needed to be patient, he needed to be understanding and be calm. He was just so afraid to lose his best friend again, he was so close, eyes darting down to Izukues hands as the other man dug through his pockets. “Does this look like a note?”
Now it was Izukus turn to show agitation, waving the scrap of paper before the other mans face, he growled out again, “Does this look like a note, Shoto Todoroki?” He watched a range of emotions cross the half and half man, anger, confusion, understanding, and then a sad sort of humour. What was it that he was understanding that Izuku hadn’t gotten now or then in the moment. “What’s so funny!?”
“Oh my god,” Shoto felt a whirlwind of discord welling up inside his body, somehow his letter had gotten caught on something, or even perhaps someone had tried to take it from where it was. Whatever had happened, it had caused one of the most painful rifts in his life he had experienced, “Zu, you don’t really believe that is all I really would have left for you. I don’t know what happened but that was only part of my letter.” Reaching out, he pulled the slightly shorter man forcefully into a tight embrace, “Zu, you should have tried to reach me. You shouldn’t have vanished.”
Izuku was at a loss for words as he wound his arms around his friend, squeezing unsurely, it had been a misunderstanding? His brain shifted in an attempt to think more clearly, Izuku tried to rationalize why exactly he would have responded in such a fashion. Why did it seem, if it involved a certain Todoroki, Izuku just couldn’t seem to think clearly. Oh Somewhere in his nearly full cranium, a little voice squeaked out an embarrassing thought.
At the same time, two singular thoughts travelled between two separate brains, lights slowly flickering on one by one. Oh no.
Only he didn't actually chase them, disoriented and suddenly the water was deeper and he'd swam further out and it bobbed over his head and he was blind and he couldn't breath and-
🔵 For about 15 years, Iida Tenya worked in the Corporation that specialized in creating androids. At the end, he wasn’t fond of the Corporation’s policy on many important issues, so he left and went into the shadow business.
🔵 Hatsume Mei is a close friend and a colleague of Professor Tenya and she lives in his house. She left the Corporation alongside professor. She spends a huge amount of time in her part of the laboratory, practically without leaving it.
🔵 Androids, belonging to Bakugo Katsuki, were created by Iida, and were gifted to Katsuki as a sign of respect and friendship. Androids’ names are Denki and Ejiro. Bakugo is strongly attached to them.
🔵 Midoriya Izuku works as a lifeguard in the emergency service. The last seven years he has lived in America.
🔵 Shouto can learn to play the piano in one day, but he does not want to, because he feels that there is the big difference between how a person plays a musical instrument and how an android plays it; and Shouto most of all likes the way humans play instruments.
