The Greenest
When Harvey received a phone call from Mike, he was happy, to say the least. But upon hearing what he had to say, Harvey sighed. There was this charity in Seattle, and both Mike and Rachel invited him. Harvey dodged the question by saying that he had to ask his wife. It wasn't that Harvey didn't want to donate his money for a good cause, but he rarely spent time with his wife now. He just wanted to stay home and do absolutely nothing with his wife in his arms. He could just write a check for it and make up some excuse later.
Harvey got home to Pink Floyd blasted through the house. He couldn't help but hum along with the song. It would be useless, he thought, to call out for his wife. He found her in their bedroom, a few dresses draped on the bed as she stood in front of her kingdom of shoes. "Are we going somewhere?" Harvey asked casually as he took off his suit. She jumped at his voice, eyes wide. "You scared the living hell out of me," she said, reaching for her phone to turn down the volume of the speaker. "Well, I suggest you shouldn't give your husband a spare key, then." Harvey rolled up his sleeves as he observed the dresses. "We're going somewhere?" Harvey asked again. "Oh yes! Mike and Rachel invited us to this charity gala. It's for abused women and children. Can you imagine?" Harvey watched as his wife's face scrunched in sadness. He swore this woman wouldn't even hurt a fly. "It's in Seattle?" Harvey asked again as she earned an eager nod. Well played, Mike, Harvey thought. Going straight to his wife. Well played. "We sure can come, yes?" Harvey looked at his wife, knowing damn well it wasn't a question. He nodded and smiled.
Harvey's favorite thing to do whenever he went out with his wife was to watch her get ready. He watched his wife put on matching underwear in black, all lacey. He stole a glance at his watch as his brain raced at the possibility of tempting his goddess of a wife for a little fun activity. "Don't think about it, Harvey." His wife scolded him as she watched him from the unreasonably huge mirror in their hotel room. "Think about what?" Harvey asked, pretending to be clueless. "Think about taking off my underwear, bending me over, having your way with me, being late, and what excuse should you give Mike for being late?" Harvey smirked at the sultry way his wife said it. "We've been in this dance before, Harvey. I will not fall for it again. Now, why won't you be a nice gentleman and zip my dress?"
"Jeez, Harvey. Didn't you arrive at the hotel yesterday? This whole thing started an hour ago!" Mike scolded Harvey, who gave him a knowing look. "Seriously?" Mike gave him a disgusted look, and not long after, his wife came along. Mike hugged her and thanked her for coming. He then managed to explain this charity he and Rachel are now part of. He also said it would be good for the charity to know two successful New York lawyers are here, siding with the charity. It just meant more money for the charity. Which was great.
Not long after, Rachel came, and she gave them brief hugs. She managed the whole event, so Rachel was running around as she made sure that nothing went awry. The three of them were having a good time. They talked about what was going on in their lives. Harvey probably would have to admit that this wasn't an entirely bad idea to come. Mike nudged Harvey, "There, that's the city attorney. Let's put that pretty face to good use." Harvey looked back at his wife, signaling for her to come along. "I need to go to pee; I'll look for you later." Harvey smiled at her as he followed Mike.
Harvey just realized that his wife was never to find him. It had been 20 minutes; surely she didn't need that long. Harvey tried to look around. He squinted his eyes at the sight of his wife, who happened to look way too comfortable with a man he had never seen before but was somewhat familiar. A man her age. Harvey frowned as he hurriedly excused himself. He made a beeline to where his wife stood but slowed down his pace when he was near. "Oh Jackson, you know how it is in New York," Harvey heard his wife laugh not long after. "Well, then maybe you should consider moving here." Before he could hear what his wife's reply would be, Harvey stood beside her, an arm wrapped around her hip. Harvey didn't miss the way this Jackson guy's eyes followed where Harvey's hand rested. "Won't you introduce us, sweetheart?" Harvey asked a rhetorical question. She sensed something wasn't quite right with Harvey's attitude. "Jackson, this is Harvey, my husband." Harvey extended his free hand. "Harvey, this is Jackson ...." Before she could finish her sentence, he jumped in. "I'm her ex-fiance," Jackson said, shaking Harvey's hand. Harvey gave him a curt smile. "Who would have thought that Harvey Specter is your husband?" Jackson said to her, but his eyes never left Harvey's. Again, before she could say anything, Harvey said, "What can I say, Jackson? I'm immaculate, and my wife has an immaculate taste." They looked at each other for quite some time, trapped in an uncomfortable silence as the two men tried to intimidate one another. Harvey then remembered that he once went against him in court. Harvey won, of course. "Well, it was nice to meet the two of you," he was about to leave when he stopped in front of her, "especially you; I'll give you a call when I visit New York." Before he left, he touched her bare arm. And Harvey was seething. Harvey took her hand to make them face-to-face. "What the fuck was that?" Harvey said, his jaw tightening. "What the fuck was that? What the fuck was what? I was just trying to get him to donate, Harvey!" Harvey scoffed, "By flirting with your ex-fiance, who suggested you move here?" She looked at him, exasperated. "We're going back to the hotel," Harvey said quietly. He took her elbow as he guided her out of the crowd. "Harvey, we are invited here to help them raise the donation," he said, shaking his head. "We're going back to the hotel." Harvey's voice left no room for argument. Before exiting the venue, she caught a glimpse of a confused Mike. She shook her head in silence before Mike became out of view.
The two of them were silent during the ride back to the hotel. "We're back now at the hotel, happy?" she said sharply as she took off her heels. "We could've helped more if you weren't being so childish and being all jealous!" She raised her voice, both hands on her hips. She looked at Harvey's back, and he poured himself some scotch. "If you weren't flirting like a high school girl, we would still be there." Venom laced his voice. He turned to face his wife. "Do I need to pack your things and send them here so you can get back with Jackson?" His wife shook her head in disbelief at his words. He finished the glass in seconds, opened the door, and slammed it hard. She sighed and prepared herself a bubble bath. There is no use in arguing with him now.
She woke up with the curtain open. She squinted her eyes. She was greeted with the sight of Harvey sitting in a chair just beside the bed. "Hey, sunny," Harvey said softly. She didn't say anything or react; she just stared at him. "I'm sorry," he said genuinely, she could tell. "I shouldn't have reacted the way I did; I'm really working on my issues. She nodded, she knew he tried. "Did I hurt you?" he asked as he took her hand in his. He did so as if he might break her, so gently. "You did," she answered quietly. "I'm really sorry," he kissed her hand softly. "It's okay, Harvey. Just try to work on yourself harder, okay? I'm here ready to help if you need anything, but no more lashing out," she said as she caressed his cheeks. Harvey leaned into the touch and closed his eyes. "What did I ever do to deserve you?" Without answering, she moved over and signed for Harvey to lay beside her.

Ways of being a father. (Kengan dads & child!reader)
I wrote this almost a year ago, originally with Blue Lock characters assigned. But I thought a lot about assigning Kengan characters so here we go! The quotes are all translated from Alligatoah's song Nicht adoptiert. Also! The song may originally be about being born into a family and not being adopted, but reader can very much be seen as an adopted child in this if that's what you prefer!
gn!child!reader (reader is implied to be different ages in different parts)
If you're listening to this, you're alive, congratulations / I always knew you'd become more than a broken condom
Let's be honest, you weren't planned. Being a father initially wasn't part of his life plan, but then you happened. But he wouldn't replace you for anything in this world.
-Adam, Raian, Lihito, Kanoh, Ohma
Cause I don't believe in marriage you were born a bastard
-Ohma, Raian, Adam, Hatsumi
Sure, we love you, but there's a reason for that, kid / Nature arranges it like this so we won't kill you
Sometimes being a father can be frustrating and exhausting. But no matter how annoying you might get, his fatherly instinct always wins. In no way would he ever intentionally do harm to you.
-Ohma, Kanoh, Kazuo
It looks like you're family / Looks like it's just us now / We've got to get through it now, blood's thicker than beer / [Sorry, you ain't adopted]
-Adam, Kanoh, Hatsumi
I have no idea how to take care of children / But don't worry, I'll find a tutorial
He went into fatherhood completely without knowing what to expect. It all came a bit out of sudden for him, and he was too anxious to prepare himself properly. But when he held you in his arms for the first time, he knew he'd figure it out just fine.
-Lihito, Inaba
The good thing is, I don't even have to share any knowledge with you / You can just read the wiki entry
-Saw Paing, Lihito, Kanoh
I won't always be there for you, I have to party hard too / Did I say "party"? I mean "work"
Being a father doesn't mean that's the only part of his life now. He'll try to be there for you whenever possible, but there will be moments when he gets lost in other things.
-Saw Paing, Lihito, Sekibayashi
Joking aside, the ego-pig in me is happy that you are coming / Cause then I can play with Lego blocks
A part of him is still a child as well. And hey, being a father means he gets to play with toys again - that's something he can look forward to.
-Cosmo, Saw Paing, Inaba
Cause even though I'm putting effort and thinking about how / I can take the pressure off and still get you into bookstores / Something I do will lead to trauma, c'est la vie / I'll be the star of your psychotherapy, have fun
As careful as he is with you, he knows at some point he'll do something wrong. He's perfectly aware of how he won't always be the perfect father, but he's still trying his best.
-Raian, Kazuo, Wakatsuki, Suekichi
You're programmed for me, I'm programmed for you / Now we're sittin' here, I say now we're sittin' here / Sorry, you ain't adopted
He didn't choose to have you as his child, and you didn't choose him to have as your father. But still, you're perfectly made to be this role for each other.
-all of them.
You may not become president or student representative / Reality will throw your dreams in the chick shredder / I know what I'm talkin' about, life ain't no show
You won't achieve the greatest things in the world, and that's okay. You don't have to do that to make your father proud. He knows exactly what it's like to fail, and that's why he will always encourage you to reach your dreams, no matter how big or small they may be.
-Gaolang, Kazuo, Suekichi, Setsuna
You'll see my burdens, I've given them to you / If you think your genes are bad, they're Papa's genes / But you're my update, you can fix the bugs
You may not be a carbon copy of your father, but the similarities are undeniable - both the good and the bad.
-Ohma, Setsuna, Kanoh, Raian
In the beginning it's ambition like in a chess duel / You will emulate me until you outshine me / The balance of power is on my side - currently / But your chance is good, because Papa's withering parallel like a leaf
Being his child also means being his rival - in a fun way. If there's something to compete in, there will be playful competition. Board games, soccer in the backyard and running random races when you're just walking somewhere together - things like that.
-Raian, Koga, Saw Paing, Lihito
This has to come out now 'cause later I won't be the same / When you're around I'm sure I'll write some corny shit / No more tasteless jokes, no more Hitler comparisons
He was more of an immature person before, but he knows after your birth he has to become more serious as a father - at least that's what society expects from him.
-Lihito, Raian, Naoya
I stand in front of the mirror and see a caricature / But I train every day for my father figure / I practice "La-Le-Lu" on the keyboard / And I subject myself to a motherfucking radio censorship / And I learn all the movie clichés, after birth / You'll get a wristwatch with your name engraved on it
At first, knowing he'll be a father soon felt so unreal to him. But the closer the day gets, the more the realization sets in. But that realization makes him nervous, so he's putting extra effort into learning how to be the best father he can be. And even though he doesn't want to be "like the other dads", he finds himself following every cliché possible.
-Kazuo, Sekibayashi, Adam, Suekichi
Even though being strict clashes with my liberal nature / I'll pretend I'm interested in your Spanish exam
He doesn't care how much of a good or bad student you are, but he knows you'll have to pass school somehow. As much as he doesn't care about your grades, he pretends as if he does to keep you encouraged. But of course you'll get praise for your hard work when you get good grades.
-Ohma, Kazuo, Lihito
I'll be mad at you for every adolescent booze story / But don't be afraid of me just because I fuck your mother
-Raian, Lihito, Adam
I'm just an old cynic who writes frustration poems / But I swear I'll give it all to you till the end of my chapter
He'd do anything and everything for you. He will always make sure you feel safe and loved, no matter what age you're at. Even when you become an adult, he will always be your father and protect you as good as he can.
-all of them.
If you enjoyed this, please remember to reblog with tags! That's the best and easiest way to support me and my writing!

I Didn't Ask For This (part six)
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Summary: Marriage had always been something sacred to little Y/n, something dream like, where her husband would come and whisk her away to a fairyland. At least, that's what she had always thought.
All her dreams would be shattered.
But maybe she can salvage them?
•○●⛦●○•
Tw: forced marriage, none more that I can think of, so let me know if I need to add anything.
•○🌑○•
Y/n walked around her room, getting dressed as she thought about the previous night.
She had found her husband kissing someone else, then gone to a very noisy place and talked to a male, then bought back home by her husband, nearly died, yelled at her husband and then agreed to giving him a chance.
That was not at all what she had expected when she woke up the previous morning, but that now felt centuries ago.
There was a knock on her door, and when she opened it, she found Nesta bouncing on her heels and looking nervous. It gave Y/n a little fright, because Nesta was not one to be nervous.
Hell, she would probably look the Mother in the eye and judge her for making the world.
"Nesta, is everything alright?" Y/n spoke slowly.
Nesta nodded, taking a deep breath before speaking. "So, you know how we train everyday, like, with Cassian, Emerie, Gwyn, and all those priestesses?"
"Yes?" She drew out the word.
"So I would love... if you could join us."
Y/n blinked. "You want me to join you." Nesta nodded. "I don't know Nesta... I don't think that's a good idea."
"Then stop thinking."
"What?"
"You said you think it's a bad idea, so stop thinking." Y/n laughed, shaking her head.
"Is... is Azriel going to be there?" She questioned, because despite her having agreed to giving him a chance, she wanted to keep interactions with him minimal.
"Yes, but I can kick him out if you want."
"And how are you going to kick him out?"
"I'll probably order Cassian to throw him out. Or I'll kick him between his legs, so hard that he wouldn't be able to leave his bed for days. Then we can train in peace."
"Even though that would be a good way to get rid of him, I don't think I want anyone to get hurt. I'll come, but I want you to know that I haven't ever done anything like that in my whole life, so it will take time."
"That won't be problem. So you're coming?"
"Now?" Nesta nodded. Y/n sighed. "I guess i don't have anything else to do. I'll come."
Nesta squealed before becoming serious again. "Do you have anything other than dresses and gowns?" Y/n shook her head. "Hmm. I think you can wear mine. They would surely fit you."
Before Nesta could say or do anything else though, a bundle smacked her straight in the face. She grunted, catching the bundle before it could fall to the ground.
It was training clothes. Nesta scowled at the ceiling. "You couldn't have been a little gentle?"
In response, a wind that sounded like a laugh swept through the hallway.
Nesta handed the shirt and pants to Y/n, who closed the door and changed into them. They felt weird. She had only ever worn dresses and gowns, having no need of wearing pants and shirts.
When she stepped out, Nesta began tugging Y/n towards the training area, linking their arms.
Maybe Azriel wouldn't be there. Maybe he would have some other work to do.
Her prayers went unanswered. He was present.
As soon as she entered, their eyes met.
As the corners of his lips lifted in a small smile, she quickly looked away, towards the opposite end of the ring where Cassian was having a conversation with Gwyn and Emerie.
As Nesta led her towards them, Y/n looked at the other females present. By the looks of it, the training was hard.
Y/n wondered if she'd be dead by the end of the training session.
•○🌑○•
Y/n was dead. She was sure of it as she lay on the ground and stared at the sky.
Nesta's head appeared in Y/n's vision, grinning.
"Did you have fun?"
"Do I look like I had fun? I'm never doing this again."
"Oh shut up. It wasn't that bad. Just a few squats and lunges and planks."
"Not that bad? I feel like I'm dying, Nesta."
"What's the fun in it of you don't feel like that?"
"I hate you." Y/n muttered as she sat up, groaning at the pain in her body. Just then, a hand appeared in front of her and she glanced up.
Azriel smiled at her. "I could help..."
Without breaking eye contact, she stood up on her own and turned back to Nesta, who winked at her, grinning.
Nesta nodded towards the exit and started waking towards it. As Y/n started to follow her, Azriel caught her wrist, but let go when she looked at him. He swallowed.
"I thought you said you'd give me a chance."
"And?"
"You aren't– never mind." A pause. Then. "Would you like to go to dinner with me tonight? Just us."
She wanted to ask why, even though she knew the reason. Finally she sighed. "Fine."
He smiled. "Thank you. I'll be waiting."

Sanguinius being secretly guiltily down bad for you, Horus’ beloved??? Now that’s a very fun scenario. Especially considering how Horus starts behaving during the heresy. Don’t you think that Sanguinius would feel the need to rescue you from such a terrible situation? Keep you somewhere where you’re completely safe and far away from the forces of chaos (somewhere right by his side)?
He’s aware of his feelings towards you but would never want to burden you with them, considering the emotional pain you’re in right now. But that doesn’t mean he can’t hold you for a little longer than usual, or linger around you for more than is necessary, or wrap a wing of his around you as a loving friendly gesture. He lets himself indulge in these feelings sometimes, just a small amount, because if he doesn’t he feels like he might explode. The guilt hasn’t gone away, in fact it’s even gotten stronger. You see him as a friend and a confidant, but nothing more, and it’s obvious to him that your heart still belongs to Horus (why should it? Why not him??). And if you weren’t under his protection there’s a high likelihood that you’d probably get assassinated, so he can’t be taking advantage of you like that (despite how badly he wants you to love him as much as he loves you.). He’s content with just being close to you, he’s okay with just being your friend, if he starts getting too emotional about it he’ll cry in the shower about it. He’s fine. He won’t try anything but he also won’t let anyone else near you. He’s normal about it, he’s sooo normal
I love this plotline so much, I'm so excited people like the Horus/Reader/Sanguinius idea. This is really good and I really like this particular idea, so here's a little thang separate from the main fic i'm making.
No warnings other than Horus falling to chaos obv
Tumblr media
"She is very lucky."
Jaghatai Khan speaks plainly, looking to Sanguinius.
"A few days longer travel, and Horus would've beaten you there."
Sanguinius brushes a piece of his hair away from his face that had fallen from his crown braids. He was glad they managed to make haste so quickly. The Red Tear had burned almost everything it had just to make it there in time to defend the planet before Horus and his Black Legion desecrated it all.
"We have the planet's surface until control. We'll need it's infrastructure for the coming battles." Jaghatai gives him a look, and Sanguinius knows why.
All the talk about strategy, infrastructure; They both know Sanguinius went there for you.
He still avoids mentioning it, wings tucked firmly against his back. It hangs between both primarchs as true intentions left unsaid. Jaghatai was one of the only three primarchs keen on how Sanguinius felt about Horus' lover. It's obvious in the way he's looked at you since you first entered Horus' life. But Jaghatai doesn't bring it up.
"Then I wish you good fortune in the coming battles."
Jaghatai leaves Sanguinius alone, and it isn't long after he can no longer hear the warhawk's footsteps that he rushes to return to you. Air whistles in his feathers as he briskly walks, hearing the clanking of his armor pieces striking against each other.
He has an entire squad of Blood Angels guarding the room you're in, of which he passes with gentle acknowledgement. They have taken to you just as much as he had; And voiced no complaints about protecting you from what once was your lover's legion.
Once Sanguinius sees you, the room dark and cast in privacy, he watches you rub the corner of your eye as you turn his way. You must've been crying, though you do a remarkable job of hiding it.
"Oh, Sanguinius; Do you need something?"
You speak to him so formally still, the way you did when you were still on Horus' arm. He so desperately wishes you wouldn't.
"I wanted to come see how you were doing. I don't wish to leave you alone in here for so long."
He comes closer, gently lowering himself onto the edge of the bed to sit beside you. Your hands fall into your lap as you look down at them, trying to find the words. It's then he finally hears the cracking in your voice, as you can no longer hold back your grief.
"How... How couldn't I have seen what was wrong with him?" You look up at him, tears welling at the bottom of your eyes just about to break and stream down your cheeks. "Am I really that blind?"
Sanguinius unfurls one of his wings, it wrapping behind you. It's not close enough to touch other than the light brush of his primary feathers, but it's close.
But most of all he wants to cup your face in his hands and kiss away your tears, to be there for you as you grieve the loss of a lover who is something worse than dead. Sanguinius dreads to hear the things you saw as Horus fell to ruinous powers, but he wants to be the one you come to; To protect you from everything.
But he can't. The love you have for Horus hasn't faded, and you're with the Blood Angels for as long as this war wages. Sanguinius will protect you, but his love for you just can't override the guilt he would feel if he swept in to kiss you as you cried for someone else. No amount of yearning desire is enough for him to take advantage of you in such a way, as you technically sit here indebted to him for rescuing you.
"He hid it from us all. We were all blind, same as you."
You sigh, and your posture seems to soften with his reassurance. His wing inches closer, daring to take just a bit more as it gently cradles you. It's only to make you feel better. One of your hands reaches to brush along one of his long primary feathers for a moment, and he bites the inside of his cheek.
Sanguinius reaches a armoured hand towards you and instinctively he wants to set it on your knee, to pull your towards him, but he hesitates- and moves to your shoulder instead. You lean into it, and hold the necklace that Horus had once given you in your hands. You clear your throat and blink your eyes, a few tears dripping down your face that you haphazardly wipe away with your palm. He wishes to wick them away with his knuckle, to brush his fingers across your skin, but he can't.
"Thank you, Sanguinius. For all of this. I appreciate you being so friendly to me."
Sanguinus softly smiles down at you, and attempts to ignore the way your words stab him directly in the heart; Bleeding all over your hands.
"Of course."

Lilia Vanrouge x reader
Where you only hear a half of what Lilia says about you
Content warning: just some relationship problems, fluff fluff fluff and comfort yasss
You walked through the corridors of NRC. You checked the time. There was still a few minutes before the alchemy lesson would begin.
You readjusted the bag on your arm. The place was filled with chatting and laughter of the students, though it was beginning to die down as they headed for their classes.
In the midst of all the noise, you heard a familiar voice. You perked up at the sight of your boyfriend at the other side of the hallway.
He didn't seem to notice you as he was surrounded by a few of his fellow Diasominia dorm members. You were heading in that direction either way, so you decided to at least wave him hello as you passed.
But as you came closer, his voice began to reach your ears.
"My s/o?" He shook his head. "They're a pain."
You stopped in your tracks, unsure of whether he was joking or not. You leaned against the nearby wall as he continued.
Tumblr media
"They're messy, they always feel sleepy and they can't focus to save their life. They walk with their head in the clouds. If you only knew how troublesome that is."
He sighed with his arms crossed. "So we usually end up doing everything but listening to the lecture. Never in my life have I encountered someone so distracting"
You slowly kept moving, diving into a crowd of students so that he couldn't spot you, gripping your bag tightly.
You left, while he continued.
"And every second with them is so fun because of it. You never know what they're thinking about. Sometimes it's a book, sometimes it's an alternate universe theory, sometimes a unique meal idea. You can never guess." He chuckled in delight, leaning against the locker.
"The moments we spend fooling around in class and when they rest their head on my shoulder… I would not trade them for anything in this world. I'm going to treasure them in my heart forever." He spoke sincerely with a lovesick smile.
"The vice dorm leader is smitten."
The Diasominia students chuckled amongst themselves as he gave them a playful scolding.
"Now that I think about it, we've got the next lesson together with them. Oh, I'm already looking forward to this." He chuckled as he headed to class. His eyes scanned the corridor, looking for you as he walked.
Finally, he arrived in the classroom. Half of the students were already there. He noticed that you were there as well. But you didn't sit at the usual spot. You were next to someone already. He tilted his head, but he didn't think twice about it.
He walked up to you with a smile. Your friend gave him a wave, while you didn't even look up from your notebook.
"Are you studying, my dear? Do we have a test that I am unaware of today?"
"We don't" you replied shortly, briefly looking up at him before going back to your notebook. As the bell rang, he gave you a brief pat on the head and went back to his own seat.
You sighed. It was difficult to be mad at him. He was always so loving and easygoing. You couldn't recall ever having an argument with him. Excluding the playful banter happening every other day. You glanced at him, he caught your gaze and sent you a kiss. You looked back down on your notebook. You were starting to have second thoughts.
For the next two days, Lilia noticed that something was off. You shrugged him off when he tried to talk to you in class, stubbornly looking down at your notebook, you stopped resting your head on him and seemed to be more silent.
He tried to ask you if something was wrong, but you gave him ambiguous replies such as; "is it something bad?", "I don't know what you mean" or the most confusing one so far. "I guess I cannot satisfy you no matter what I do."
Lilia felt confused. Were relationships always so difficult? But he wouldn't be himself if he lost his head after encountering a little bump on the road of your relationship.
He approached you when you were alone. This time, not trying to scare you by hanging upside down above your head. You were sitting in the botanical gardens, under the shade of some exotic tree. You looked up at him as he sat next to you quietly.
"My dear, if there is something on your mind, you can tell me. Let's not let it sour our relationship."
He only said, placing a comforting hand on yours. You stayed silent for a while. You've been giving him a cold shoulder for the last two days but he never once lost his patience nor showed his annoyance. He was always calm and understanding. Instead of losing his temper and accusing you, he gave you space, while staying near enough for you to approach him if you wanted to. He was really the best, so…
"Shouldn't you be the one telling me something?" You asked, rather quietly. He gave you a questioning look.
"And what could that be?"
For a moment, you hesitated. But in the end, you decided to let it all out.
"Tell me, what do you dislike about me, Lilia. Don't tell it to other people, tell it to me." You said slowly, trying to control your voice so it doesn't break.
He looked at you, still not quite understanding. The atmosphere of the botanical gardens was so relaxing and peaceful, but you were tense. Lilia began to rub your back soothingly.
"You're not telling me everything." He noticed. But his voice was far from angry. It was curious and encouraging.
You felt a lump in your throat. For a few minutes, you stayed silent. He made no move to rush you. He just kept rubbing your back.
"I heard you say that I'm messy and distracting." You finally said, looking away, anywhere but not him.
Lilia's eyes widened with realisation.
"How much did you hear!?" He couldn't believe his ears. This was what it was all about?! He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"I heard that I'm messy, always tired, and very distracting."
"And?"
"And then I left- Why are you laughing?" You asked in annoyance as he couldn't stop chuckling. "What's so funny?" You asked, glaring at him.
"My little bat, if you're going to eavesdrop you should at least listen to the very end" he choked out between attacks of giggles. You crossed your arms and leaned against the tree trunk.
"I wasn't eavesdropping! You were in the middle of the corridor, anyone could have heard you!"
In amusement, Lilia pulled your back against his chest as his arms wrapped around your waist. He planted a few kisses on your shoulder, successfully silencing you.
"I said that you're messy, but I never said that I hate it. And yes, you're distracting. You're so, so distracting. But who in the world would look at the teacher or the book when there is a masterpiece right next to him? Such a beautiful distraction - I don't mind it at all."
He inhaled your scent, as he buried his face in your neck.
"Love, if I couldn't accept your flaws, I wouldn't deserve to call you mine."
Did I use the correct conditional?
You felt your cheeks burning. He was so close. His breath and lips tickled your skin. It ruined your focus entirely. You couldn't even remember why you were mad at him.
In that moment of distraction, he gently pushed you onto the soft grass and got on top of you. His lips hovered over yours.
"So be as terrible as you want. Because I'm going to enjoy it~"
As you wrapped your arms around him and pulled him closer, he finally kissed you. Again, again and again.

am i the asshole for cutting off my mentally unstable friend without any explanation whatsoever?
(🧠🌩️ so i can find it)
tw for abuse and cheating mentions
ok typing out that title makes me feel like i might be TA to, like, some degree but just hear me out first.
i (19, f) was in my first semester of college when i met rachel (20). we shared a class and grew to be friends over our shared nerdy interests. i admittedly didn't really like her that much at first and didn't consider her to be that close of a friend. she was really just someone to talk to when class got boring or we had a break or something.
i was actually kinda regretting talking to her at all because i clocked that she was a little unstable almost immediately; she was very quick to anger and constantly talked about fighting people that had ""wronged"" her (which included our professor who she was convinced was out to get her for some reason?? idk why our prof was a really nice lady), constantly trauma dumped without asking (i'm talking like early into our relationship too. first day we met she was ranting about her abusive mother and her childhood trauma and stuff), and always found a way to turn the focus of the conversation about her any time i tried to talk about myself or anything that wasn't our shared interests. the only reason i gave her my number is bc she asked for it and i didn't know how to turn her down without hurting her feelings--i'd been planning on ghosting the second our class ended.
so we continued to talk/text for like a year and (at her insistence) met up for lunch in between class the following semester. i warmed to her a little at this point so it wasn't too bad; at the very least her constant drama gave me something to talk about with my real friends, and like i said i didn't really know how to cut her off in a way that wouldn't start something.
so time goes on and she shuffles through a few boyfriends--all who either cheated on her or were inattentive/verbally abusive. she constantly asked me for advice, which was confusing bc she never listened to it? like she asked me if she should take back her ex who cheated on her 3x and i said "no that sounds like an awful idea" and then she exploded at me and screamed that i could 'go fuck myself' and to 'stay the fuck outta her business bc it's her fucking life and not mine'. but then the minute he (predictably) cheated on her again and dumped her guess who had to sit with her on the phone for 2 hours while she cried? yep. me!
this kinda bullshit continued all the way up to a few months ago. she met a new guy, told me all about how he was "the one" and "he's gonna be different this time" blah blah blah. at this point i genuinely stopped giving a fuck about her and her problems. the only reason i hadn't cut her off was because my other friends loved hearing about her drama secondhand and i admittedly did enjoy making fun of her with them. which i know is kinda shitty but at least she'll never find out about it?
anyways, shit starts to get particularly juicy bc two months into rachel's relationship with this new dude he proposes. and she accepts (?!!) not only that but she informs me (not asks. INFORMS) me that i will be a bridesmaid. and i panicked and just said "uhhh cool i'm so happy for you!!" so this is the point where i decide that i need to end this relationship bc having to attend her wedding is just not something i wanna be apart of and i felt that if i went through with that it would solidify our ''friendship'' in her mind and i'd never be rid of her.
so i stop responding to her texts as frequently and began ducking her calls. didn't have to stop initiating bc i never initiated convos with her in the first place. i'd answer every once in a while bc she would start spamming that she was having ""emergencies!!!"" which. they never were true emergencies; she just wanted to vent about her fiance and his shitty family or something his ex-wife did to piss her off (her fiance was like 20 and divorced twice with three kids. YIKES) and i'd listen until she got tired of talking and ended the call. not once did she ever ask about me btw. at this point she wasn't even to pretend to care about me or my life; i was just her dumping grounds for all her trauma and venting.
i thought she might've got the message that we were done bc she hadn't texted for like a month, but a few days ago i recieved a message that said something like "omg i haven't heard from you in a while, are you okay??" and. i'm not sure if i can put into words the sheer amount of exasperation and annoyance those words filled me with. like i could tell right off the bat it was just a ploy so she could get me talking and then vent and saddle me with all her stupid emotional bullshit. so i blocked her, finally. this shouldn't cause any problems bc she dropped out of school last semester (she was failing so she decided to start her own business).
the thing is, i know that she's mentally not well. she is very erratic and immature, add that to the fact that she's gone through a lot of trauma throughout her life and the end result is a deeply flawed person. at the same time i'm not responsible for her mental health and continuing to play friends with her what i don't even like her in the first place seems disingenuous. but she's got abandonment issues, so me doing this is probably gonna hurt her. although me being honest and saying that i can't stand her and her drama anymore probably wouldn't feel any better.
AITA?
What are these acronyms?

Pt.3
"You're here!"
Steve looks around for the emergency but all he sees is Eddie's smiling face. More specifically, Eddie tangled in lights.
"Help me hang these Christmas lights."
"You know its a crime to report something false."
"What! I need help!" He jiggles the Christmas lights in his hand. "And how else was i supposed to see you it's not like I've been threatened recently," he pouts. Steve's caught in his puppy dog eyes.
"You don't need excuses to see me Munson."
Eddie's smirks his way, eyelashes fluttering. "I don't?" His grin is wicked.
"No, we could act like normal people, you didn't have to tell Max it was life or death."
"Sounds like you wanna be my friend Stevie."
"Uhuh and you just wanted to see me because...?"
"Oh officer, friend doesn't even begin to cover what I want to be with you."
Steve's face is bright pink.
"Like best friends?"
Nice. Good cover.
Eddie cackles at his stupidity.
"You're so cute Stevie," His eyes are glistening when they meet. "Now chop chop!" He claps his hands together. "There are lights to be hung!"
They spend the next couple of hours decorating. Eddie even shows Steve some bartender tricks with the whipped cream can he uses to top the hot chocolate he made.
Steve has never had so much fun in his life. Eddie is a force and he wonders how he went so long without him in his life.
No! Bad! Be civil! Be friends!
Eddie's flirting is friendly. Friends can flirt!
He's enjoying himself too much and he doesn't want to lose this. Doesn't want to lose this newfound thing he has.
"You ok over there?" Eddie looks at him concerned.
"Yeah! I was just thinking about...presents!"
Another genius save.
"Oh yeah? You a master gift giver?" There's a teasing tone in the line.
"I mean I try my best. I can definitely wrap a present without using multiple rolls of tape now."
"Wow that's tough to beat."
"Haha...what about you?"
"What about me? Am I master giver~"
"Psh What! NO! I meant what do you do for the holidays."
"Ok ok," Eddie chuckles. "I spend the holidays by working the bar of course. I spend the morning with my Uncle, he normally comes into town the night before. We trade very manly presents and then I go to work and tend to sad drunk people."
"Do you enjoy that? I mean I don't even talk to my family but I have this giant pseudo family that makes sure I'm on task for holidays."
"I kind of do, like the drunks and I both try to give a good Christmas you know?"
The phone rang in the back and Eddie ran to get it. Since it was so early the phone had to be for emergencies.
Steve waited for him to come back while snooping around behind the bar. There was tons of photos of Eddie with the rest of his employees and most of them look like they were taken when they were kids. Steve had known they were all friends but he didn't realize to what extent. It made his heart warm.
He was glad he had Robin and El and all of her other little friends. He didn't really see them all until he moved into the Hoppers and they stuck to him like weeds.
He heard muffled shouting and a slight bang and then Eddie was storming back in.
"That stupid stubborn bastard-"
"What's up Eds?"
Eddie turns around like he forgot Steve was there.
"Shit, sorry. That was Wayne. He won't be coming into town till New Years. They asked him to work and he said YES! Even though I could pay him for the work days he was missing he still wants to be seen as reliable as if he hasn't worked for them for twenty years already."
"Shit."
"Exactly," Eddie runs a hand through his hair in grief and it gives Steve an idea.
"You know, if you have to work on Christmas you're welcome to join me for Christmas morning?"
Eddie gives him a blank expression.
"You want me to spend Christmas with you?" His cheeks are pink.
"Well...if you want to, it'd be me, Robin, and the rest of the crew. About twenty of us in total."
"I'll have to think on it, I wouldn't want to impose."
"You wouldn't though! I offered."
"Ok Stevie," Eddie gives him a fond look. "I'll let you know."
---
I literally have the rest of this story written 😅 let me know if I should post it all at once.

Inktobertale day 20: 4 panels comic. I like to think if Error ever joined the star sanses, then it would be a matter of no time before he and Ink became the most chaotic duo ever.
This gives Dream a lot of grief.
It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do for this specific prompt. I knew I wanted to do it, I just didn't know what. Then, this cursed idea came to life while I was trying to sleep one night and here we are.
If I knew the second panel was going to be as glorious as it ended up being, I would have made a full on picture for it. But here's a cropped version of it 'cus I couldn't get over how vapor wave or freaking something they look lmao
Tumblr media
Fun fact; the canonical reason why Ink is holding his shades up is because they ran out of tape. They only had the three. So him holding them up constantly has a stupid, in canon reason asides from just looking cool-
Additionally, I like to think how this all played out was because Ink was sad that Dream wouldn't let him dress up when they went on missions.
Ink: Dream said I couldn't dress up for the next mission! I tried telling him I'd look neat! But he said it wouldn't be very... intimidating to people we're going to fight. :( Since when did we have to be "intimidating?" I thought we were the good guys... Crossing his arms, he adds with a grumble: I have serious doubts I'm even considered "iNtImIdAtInG" to begin with, but that's another story... Error, having listened intently with a thoughtful hand on his chin this entire time: .....Yeah, but hear me out. What if... there were two people dressing up-
Ink: *GASP-*
The moral of the story is that Error does demonstratively have more brain cells than Ink, but he uses those brain cells to perfect and refine Ink's arguably stupid ideas.
Whether this comes back to make him appear like a dumbass too is up to interpretation.
Special shoutout to a special commenter on ao3 that referred to Error being bad bitch buddies with Ink on a comment one time. That just stuck with me for some reason. Also to @honeybubbletea33 for their art that depicted Error with the exact same fluffy boa and heart glasses that just. Imprinted into my brain or something, idk man-

Heyo- the power went out at my place after a storm. it got me thinking- what would the dmc boys do during a power outage with their s/o? Thank you (:
This is such a sweet and funny idea, thank you for sending the request and I'm sorry that I'm only just NOW getting to it. I'm going to include Credo because I love him.
Black Clouds Provoke Isolation.
The DMC boys during a power outage with their S/O.
Dante
He is accustomed to not having the power work at the Devil May Cry, but he understands that it's probably not something his S/O would be all that acquainted with. First he'll look up and curse quietly to himself, clicking his tongue and turning his head away as he sits in the darkness. As soon as his S/O comes in and starts to worry about it, he's there to calm them down and tell them that it's not a big deal and that this sort of thing happens all the time. Much to their dismay, Dante... power is important, without power the fridge can't keep the pizza and beers cold. His motivation arises at the risk of these important assets being lost.
If his S/O is afraid of the dark or has an issue with it, he'll drape himself over them like a blanket.
"Alright lets get you to the couch", and then he guides(drags) them to the couch to hunker down until the power comes back on.
Dante would poke fun of them for that, if it weren't for his own apprehension to wandering around in the dark. He gets it, since a lot of bad things tend to happen to him in the dark. That's probably what's going on in the mind of his S/O so the least he can do is be there and comforting for them where he didn't have anyone to comfort himself during those times.
"Hey... it'll be okay, we've been through worse before haven't we?", he'll say in a melancholic sort of way.
When the lights do eventually come back on, he has this big smile on his face and looks down to his S/O. He'd chuckle and give them a quick nudge.
"It came back on! See? What'd I tell you?", and after making sure that his partner's alright, he's going off to check if the pizza and beers are still good. A little celebratory snack wouldn't hurt, and he's thinking that a bit of pizza and a cold drink might cheer them up.
Vergil
Like his brother, he doesn't quite care for the dark when the power goes out, but that's because he's grown used to a lack of light in his life. The darkness is something he's come to embrace, something he can move freely through and about without concern. Of course, this changes somewhat with his S/O by his side. He moves to find them first throughout the power outage, making sure that they're alright. However, he's a bit lost as to what to do in this situation since it's never happened to him enough times before where he's become familiar with what course of action to take. He's spent more time in Hell than in the human world, and will rely on his S/O to take charge, which is something he dislikes.
Vergil would ask them if there's anything that he can do to help, like light some candles or check on the appliances or anything like that. He'd also grow a bit frustrated with them when they don't turn on when he tries to use them or if there isn't anything else he can do to try and help. The Darkslayer tries not to pout and fold his arms in the corner as everything else essentially gets handled for him or by someone else. However, he isn't totally useless here. If there is something he can do, it is also to provide comfort for his S/O in the case that they're not as fond of the dark as he is.
If this gets in the way of them trying to take action, he'll guide them through the house and ask them what they need. Once everything is squared away, his focus is directed onto his partner. What do they need right now? What can he provide for them? Comforting others may not be his strong suit, but he will everything he can for their sake. If this is just holding onto them and pressing their head into his shoulder, he will do it. He won't admit it, but he's glad that their able to vulnerable with him, allowing him to be the rock that they can lean on in their time of need. Besides, he quite enjoys these small moments of reprieve and being close to his S/O.
V
The first one to start is Griffon, commenting about how the lights have gone off and how it's suddenly gotten a bit colder. V acknowledges this from his familiar and starts to get up from his spot on the couch to go and locate his S/O to inform them of the problem if they weren't previously aware already. If they're already getting to it, he's sitting back and watching them, admiring the way that they're handling the situation. He'll leave them after a moment to go and find if he can do something to assist them, such as bringing them a flashlight or even a few candles to light around the house so that things are easier to see. He's not all too bothered by a lack of power, tolerant at best, but he does get cold after idling for a while.
When all that can be done is done, he's curled up on the couch with a spot made available for his partner. V waits for them to come and join him, as he'd like for them to share their warmth with him. Sitting together, he'll start to read from his book of poems as Shadow drapes herself across the two of them. It is a perfect way to relax during an event that they don't have much control over, especially if he notices that his S/O is a bit uncomfortable with the lack of power. V would be too, if it weren't for having his partner at his side.
The comfort of not being alone through this gives him the strength he needs to get through it, and he hopes that he can shed that same strength to his S/O. Griffon complains about the mushy romantic spiel that V sings, flocking off to go and check if the power's back on. While the mouthy bird is out of the picture, he returns his attention to being assuring that all will be okay, as it is not the end... yet. Of course, it's within his nature to be a little teasing to them, and he enjoys watching the way they react to his words. When the power does return, he won't be releasing them from his grasp any time soon. V quite likes snuggling with his S/O and he'd like to be with them for a little longer before they eventually do get up to leave.
Nero
He's a little irritated when the power goes out, and ends up cursing the storm for the lack of lights in the house. Nero looks to his S/O and asks if they're okay before he even starts to do anything else, making sure they're all good first and then going to start the backup generator. At the least, he's got a backup plan, thanks to Nico for providing him with a spare(at a 'good' price.)
"Come on you bastard", he's mouthing off to the generator as he yanks the cord to bring it to life.
Nero returns to his partner as soon as that's been squared away, and takes their hand in his to go and grab the flashlights and other lights and what not. He looks around to see if there's anything that he might've forgotten about or if there's anything that his S/O hasn't done. He likes to be on top of things, even having a little plan that Kyrie made to go over until the power comes back on. It isn't the end of the world, but he hates sitting still for too long, even if all that's left to do is to wait. He'd have called Kyrie too by then, asking if the boys are doing okay while he's here with his S/O.
If his S/O happens to be anxious without the power, Nero probably won't be of much help. He's a better listener than he is the guy to go to for advice, awkwardly standing around while Kyrie would cry about something that happened to her or that she was going through. He's gotten better over the years though. He'll take his partner to the couch and make sure they're nice and cozy, offering them an earbud to take and listen to some music while he sits with them, waiting for the storm to pass and eventually for the power to return. He's attentive, and tries, and that's all that anyone can ever really ask for.
When the power does come back, he's cracking a smile, and even hits them with something witty and sarcastic.
"Was that so bad? You did just fine"
And they did! And he presses a little kiss to their forehead.
Credo
He had expected such to happen when he caught the forecast on the news just a few days prior. He suspected that something like the power going out would happen, and so he's pleasantly pleased with himself when he managed to be correct in his assessment.
"Not to worry, I've got this", Credo assures his S/O as he moves with a calmness to gather the things that he has prepared in case such an emergency were to arise. There are bottled waters, flashlights, and the like.
One could even say that Credo's a little too prepared. He makes his calls to Kyrie and Nero, making sure that they're alright and have everything just as he had instructed Kyrie. While with his S/O, he's going over what the plan is and etc. The one-winged devil is a little impatient with things, pacing around the house as he waits for the power to return, and checks in with his partner to make sure that they're okay too. It might take their own assurance that things are okay to calm him down from his restlessness.
Credo isn't usually one to have his feathers ruffled, but there are times where even he loses his cool, like when the Order used his sister to further their own goals. It was absolutely unacceptable, and he'd hope that her, Nero, and the boys were doing just as fine as him and his S/O were. If his S/O were to become anxious during the predicament at any point, he'd stop his own fretting for a moment to address theirs. He'd apologize if he had any part to take in causing it, and promptly pull them into a hug, after asking if it were okay to hug them. His formalities could be found endearing, even after all this time, and they do end up calming his partner down. The distraction is more than appreciated as he tries to figure out what to talk about.
Although one may find that he's not so good with small talk, and curses himself for not being better at it for their sake.
Sparda
The dark knight doesn't see a power outage as a problem, even finding it a bit trivial that the lights went out all because of a silly little storm? He alerts you rather loudly that there isn't any power.
"Dear!! The lights have gone out! Is everything alright?"
Funny how he could create the contraptions necessary to power the Temen-Ni-Gru, but simple electricity puzzles him. Ah, oh well. He could easily provide a bit of light with a bit of magic. He was quite good at that, and he does well to emulate a bit of light for him and his S/O to walk around the house if he wasn't too busy with reading or doing anything else the moment the power went out. His main priority is his partner and after seeking them out, he's making sure that they're alright and taken care of. Upon finding them, he'll snake his arms around their trunk before pulling them close to himself.
"That didn't scare you did it?", he'd ask as he smirks into the back of their head, pressing a kiss to their hair as he takes a gander at the state of their abode.
He's off to check on other things if his beloved is fine and dandy. With a bit of his devil's magic he'd even start on preparing them some tea to enjoy until the power comes back on. Sparda does enjoy using his talents every now and then, showing off his power in these small displays to charm his S/O further even though he's already secured them. It's something that he can't help. He does get a bit more serious if his partner happens to be a bit disturbed by the lack of power. It's almost like a 180, where his lightheartedness is replaced by being more levelheaded and attuned to every little thing from his partner. The pupils of his eyes narrow as he kneels before them, surrendering himself to them as he takes their hands into his own.
"Darling, if there is anything that I can do, you just need to say the word", he says in a sultry tone. He'll bring their hands to his lips as he thumbs over the back of them.

Flufftober 2024 - 9 Bane
Tumblr media
There were many things about the "modern" world that Bane didn't understand since he met Y/N and often visited her in Gotham.
That didn't mean he hated it, just that he didn't understand, after all this time in the Pit then with the League, and that he was too proud and stubborn to say when he loved it, because it wouldn't go with his speech about how rotten the world was.
He still had to hide his fascination when he asked a lot of questions about birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and now Halloween.
Y/N had been trying to explain to him for several minutes what the best celebration was, but it was obvious that he was grimacing under his mask.
"… Why do you think it's the best ?"
"I just explained it to you, Bane."
"You told me that children went out alone in the street to ask strangers for sweets while being disguised as people who don't exist, allowed to vandalize the houses of those who didn't respond favorably, risking being kidnapped and gorging themselves on candies that are bad for their health."
"… Of course, it doesn't sound great when you summarize it like that. But adults go the children, they don't have the right to vandalize, and often the candies are not all eaten at the same time."
"Hmm." Bane growled, still not convinced.
"Besides, adults can also have fun like I told you."
"By drinking way too much alcohol and waking up in situations that are as avoidable as they are tragic."
"You're saying that because of last night's horror movie, it's less crazy and bloody in real life, I promise you ! Trust me."
No, really, the explanations given did not allow Bane to give a favorable opinion on Halloween.
However, he had blind faith in Y/N, as much as he wanted to make her happy. So if she liked this holiday, he would not criticize it too much.
For a moment, his eyes would let out a hint of interest when she spoke to him about spending the whole evening together, her with a rather revealing disguise, watching television. He refused to admit it, but he liked television. And maybe her in costumes, but just maybe.
But the glow disappeared when she spoke of going out on the street.
"Since everyone will be disguised, you will not need to hide your mask with a scarf for once. We will be able to walk quietly."
"Some hidden in the shadows could see me, take advantage of it. It is not a good idea."
"Oh." sighed Y/N, disappointed. "We go out together so rarely. I do not like you being locked up all the time when you visit me."
"I've been to prison, Habibi. I'm not locked up when I'm with you."
"Aw, Bane."
"And… I don't like the idea of all these people looking at you and trying to take you from me."
It wasn't that important to her to get out, she was too old for trick-or-treating, and if Bane felt more comfortable staying in the apartment, then she wasn't going to push it.
They would have a good time, looking for a horror movie that would finally make the giant ninja jump a little. So far, all the ones they had seen had simply perplexed him.

I'm so confused by your perspectives. So if you joke about right wing politics you could potentially normalize it to yourself or to others so just don't talk about it, but you can't do that with what you read on ao3, it's "just fiction." Make it make sense
One of my problems with antis who want to censor stuff is that having to fight back against censorship means it's hard to talk about the nuances of what a person chooses to read or say or write or watch, without it being twisted into "and that's why nobody should be allowed to do it and everyone who wants to is a pedophile so we should control what people are allowed to say and read!" So here's some nuance.
All words matter and affect the people who read and say them.
How they matter and how much they matter varies dramatically from person to person, and in any individual case you can't tell what that impact is going to be or control it.
The things that have the most impact are pretty much always going to be the things with a large driving force of the dominant culture behind them, or a complete social circle that you can be absorbed into advocating for those things both in fiction and in real life. In other words, while the things you read and say affect you, the people around you affect you a lot more.
"I said this" is much more effective at training your brain than "I read this."
"Pay attention to how you joke about things that our society counts as normal" is very different from "nobody should ever be able to read/write about certain topics."
Here's an example. When Jaws came out, people were terrified of sharks. The amount of shark killings--sharks killed by human beings--skyrocketed, and remained high for years. People saw a movie about a scary shark, and generalized it to "all sharks are bad and should be killed." Which was broadly in line with the message of the film. But note that it didn't result in a similar backlash about the other message of the film, the ways in which people are endangered by politicians and businessmen who care more about profits than people's lives. Why? Because "sharks are bad and dangerous" was already part of the larger culture, and "politicians and businessmen endanger people" had a lot of cultural weight both for and against, so there were cultural forces preventing people from taking that aspect too far.
Here's another example. Finding Nemo also had a huge impact in real life, but in that case the impact was inspiring people to do the opposite of the message of the movie. The message of the movie is clear: keeping fish in aquariums is cruel and evil, and something only a villain would do. But a lot of people saw that movie, went "wow, tropical fish are cool!" and completely ignored the message and went out to buy an aquarium with tropical fish in it. There was a huge spike in pet fish sales. Why? Because keeping fish in aquariums is a normal thing to do, that a lot of people find interesting, and there is no widespread cultural idea that keeping fish is bad, and so most people who watched the movie did not notice the messaging, and if they did notice it, they shrugged and ignored it because it didn't fit with the way they saw the world.
When we talk about problematic things in fanfiction, we are not (by and large) talking about things that our culture has normalized. Like incest or the Hydra Trash Party. You could read three incest fics a day for the rest of your life, and write one a week, and unless you had real-life friends who actively talked about how incest was good, you would be vanishingly unlikely to change your opinion about it.
When we write and read fiction (whether fanfic or not) about things like incest, it's very rarely about "incest is good, actually!" It's usually either "wow, incest is a fun kink to imagine in a safe space where there's no chance of it happening in reality" or "this is a thing that happens in real life, and it's devastating and awful, so let's explore that." Or even just "wouldn't it be fucked up if ..." The human brain is complicated. It's common to have fantasies about things that you absolutely would NOT want in real life. Fiction exists partly because it's a safe space to explore those things. Yes, that has an impact on the person reading it and the person writing it ... but that impact is usually catharsis or getting off or something, and not inspiring you to be more approving of that in real life.
Even if you're reading it on a fairly surface level and not engaging with the themes or stuff like that, it's still usually long and complex enough that the act of reading it requires at least a little bit of thought and nuance. It takes time. There's a lot there to notice, and the things that stick out to you--the things that affect you--might be totally different than what someone else might expect. You can't predict how any given individual will react or what they're going to take away from it.
Jokes, on the other hand, tend to be short and pointed. There doesn't tend to be much nuance. Either you find it funny, or you don't, and if you find it funny you're a lot more likely to have your hindbrain normalize it, because it is shorter and simpler.
What you say impacts how you think much more than what you read does. There's a reason that when people try to brainwash prisoners of war or whatever, they don't require them to read propaganda, they require them to write and say it. Because the brain is not good at compartmentalizing "I said X" from "I believe X." You may know on an intellectual level that X is wrong, but if you are saying it, and also hearing it from the people and culture around you, your gut is likely to accept X as true.
Right-wing jokes have a lot of cultural weight to them in real life, and a lot of people genuinely believe that they are true. If anything is going to slip through your defenses and affect you, an "ironic" right-wing joke is much more likely to do so than a Hydra Trash Party story on AO3.
Note that I am saying "hey watch out, this is a thing," and not "people shouldn't be allowed to do it" or "people who do this are secretly all fascists deep down."
I'm not calling for censorship, or harassment. I'm asking people to be wary of a larger trend in our culture and letting them do with it what they will.

Briefly returning to this blog because I feel like I'm going to explode if I don't find a place to say this where it might be heard.
I feel uncomfortable and disappointed by the way the D20 fandom, and even the players, have responded to the Riz and Skolanda conversation.
It feels like everyone immediately went on the defensive. Endless "she just doesn't get that his friends love him," "look at all this stuff his friends have done for him," "the relationships between the Bad Kids are perfect and they could never take advantage of him." Plus, Ally, Emily, and even to a certain extent Zac immediately shifting how their characters interact with Riz in response to Skolanda's criticism (that their characters wouldn't know about). I generally feel like Brennan tends to get a free pass while players (especially non-male players) get criticized for things that are partly or mostly his fault. But this is the one time that's not the case. It seems to me like he was trying to set up an interesting story. What does it mean for someone like Riz ("very social but weirdly doesn't have any friends," aromantic and desperate to hang on to his first friendships for life, a workaholic) to not really be able to set boundaries with his friends? How does that lead to situations where even loving and well-intentioned friends are taking advantage of him (getting him to write their essays for him, making him adapt to a nickname that was originally used to bully him, sacrificing sleep and mental health in the name of maintaining his relationship to them/helping with what he understands to be their goals)? It's not a pretty story. It's a story where everyone (including Riz) has to admit to some wrongdoing. And everyone has to change their behavior. But it has the potential to be a great story! In a way that "everyone is great, Riz's mom just doesn't get it" doesn't. It would be one thing if Brennan was having this come out of nowhere. But he's not. There has always been an expectation among the Bad Kids that Riz and Adaine will do the bulk of the labor. That Riz will put up with it when his friends make fun of him or seem to use him as a means to an end ("are you just the little thing that finds the clues").
It's a good story. Or at least, a good idea for a story. I get that it could end up in a place may feel too much like pvp for some players. And if they decide to dodge it for that reason then that's fair. But if the reaction to it is just "How dare someone accuse my (teenage) favorite character of not being emotionally aware enough to realize when they are taking advantage of a vulnerable friend?" I don't know how we can expect these stories to be particularly emotionally nuanced or complex. Or really having anything valuable to say at all. It's not a bad thing if the Bad Kids have unhealthy relationships. It's not a bad thing if the Bad Kids are imperfect perfect people. It's probably better storytelling if those relationships are being prompted to actually grow and change for the better. And I'm sad that the situation seems to be that we'd rather shield these characters from any criticism than be excited about maybe seeing them grow

In a quiet, dimly lit room, Soap walked her back to her quarters, persistently seeking the information he held. She implored him, "Johnny, you have to tell me what you know. You hate lying; I know this is bothering you."
"Look, I want to tell you everything I know... but in good conscience, I can't," he responded, sighing and avoiding eye contact.
"Why?" she questioned.
He sighed again and looked down, not ready to answer. "You know why, lass..."
"Because he told you not to?" she asked, already aware that Ghost was involved.
Johnny nodded slightly. "I won't tell anyone," she assured him.
"I know, lass... but I have my orders," he explained, struggling with the dilemma. she, looked into his eyes, pleading, "I'm your friend; please do this for me."
"I know... and I will... for you, lass," Simon replied, taking a deep breath. “ the reason it took so long to get you back is because Ghost was trying to replace you with someone else. I fought for you to stay but Ghost was set on keeping you home…” Tears welled up in her eyes as she processed the information.
“he wants to keep you safe, this is the last place he wants you to be, in the middle of danger”
“I'm not in danger if I'm strictly on base”
“lass, this is war. danger surrounds us at every corner, we're lucky to be alive, trust me, I would take you straight home if I could but you're safer with us now”
“if that's true then why wouldn't he just talk to me?” she asks, he laugh as they all knew ghost had never been praised for his communcaitn skills.
“you can't ask Ghost to actually talk about feelings, he's the most closed up person I've ever met.”
“I told you it was different with us”
“it's different, yea. but you still can't ask him to talk. that's just how he's always been, he's never been good with his emotions…”
“fucking men”
“I feel personally attacked”
“you should”
“It’s probably better I get over him now” she admits
“he's a hard guy to get over, lass”
“you got a crush on him too?” she asks, Johnny cackles and nearly collapses on the floor
“he's all yours Soapy” she jokes
“yeah have fun with him tonight, its nearly lights out” he smirks before turning and leaving her alone.
However, emotions escalated when she entered another room to see Simon himself.
"I'm so upset I can't even look at you right now," she declared.
"I know... and I'm sorry," Simon sighed, averting his gaze as she confronted him.
"Sorry for being a prick or sorry for trying to get me fired from my job because I'm not stable enough?" she snapped, her frustration evident. Simon cursed Soap under his breath for divulging the information.
He sighed again, looking away. "When I heard you were coming back, I..."
"How dare you! That was not your call to make! This job is all I have left!" she retorted, her anger escalating.
Simon shook his head. "I'm not sorry, actually."
"Oh, of course not!” she accused, her tone laced with resentment.
“Your sister died, and you gave yourself a few months. You're not ready to be back,"
"You have no idea what's going on inside my head! We haven't spoken since I left that day; you made sure of that!" she defended herself.
"Because you wouldn't listen!" he shot back.
"To what?”
“ I told you to live a life; this isn't where you should be!" Simon argued, frustrated.
"I'm still struggling to understand why you think you know what's best for me. You act like you hate my existence six hours ago!" she exclaimed.
Simon sighed and laid back. "It's not that simple."
"Never is with you," she retorted, turning to look at him.
"And why is that?"
"You tell me, Simon... oh, my bad, I'm not allowed to call you that anymore!" she said sarcastically.
Simon sighed again. "God damn it."
"You went above price and talked to Shepard. You told him I was unstable! How dare you! Do you really hate me that much?" she accused, sitting forward.
"I trusted you more than anyone in this world”
“I did what was best for you," he tried to explain.
"You did what was best for you. If you wanted me to stay away, you should've just asked," she argued, leaning closer.
"I didn't want you to stay away. I wanted you to go live your life," Simon confessed.
"So you thought the best way to make sure I lived my life was to ghost me?" she questioned, sitting forward as their faces were inches apart.
"I waited for you to call for months!" she yells, putting his hand on her cheek.
"Why didn't you? What was so bad that you couldn't pick up the phone?" she pressed, emotions bubbling to the surface.
"I was scared... scared of losing you," Simon admitted, his vulnerability showing.
"So you pushed me away?" she stood up and confronted him.
"God damn it, darling, I..." Simon began, but she stood with him, refusing to back down.
"sit down," he commanded, frustrated.
"Why do you keep barking orders at me? I don't get you!" she shouted back.
"Stop provoking me!" Simon snapped.
"Or what, you'll accidentally slip up and tell me the truth?" she glared at him angrily.
“when Emma died I thought that I was next, I didn't know how I was ever gonna survive without her. I was so utterly broken and then you sat with me. we talked for hours and you told me about your past... you have no idea how much that meant to me. you've been such a mystery and when you were brave enough to tell me those things... that was everything to me. It felt like you were the only person in the world who understood how I felt, you didn't lie and tell me that it would get better. You were honest and you told me it was gonna suck but through the worst pain I would find myself. you are the reason I'm here, your words got me through it. And then to never get a call... I don't know what I did wrong”
As she poured out her feelings, Simon's fury turned into remorse. He realized the impact he had on her life, especially during the tough times.
"I... have been so stupid,"
 she scoffed.
"Listen, love, please, let me explain," Simon pleaded, taking her hand.
"When I saw you again today... I wasn't mad. I was happy," he confessed, trying to bridge the gap between them.
"Yeah, sure felt like it," she retorted, shaking her head.
"No... no listen, I was happy. You have no idea how often you've been on my mind," Simon revealed, looking into her eyes.
"I wish I'd just called you," he expressed regret.
"Why didn't you?" she questioned.
"People who get close to me die," Simon confessed, realization striking her as her heart shatters. Of course, it all made sense now. How had she been so stupid? Simon would never hurt her intentionally if it wasn’t to protect her.
she nodded tearfully. "I understand."
"I never wanted to hurt you. I just wanted you to leave because... I thought you were better off without me," Simon sighed, expressing his misguided intentions.
"You've never been more wrong," she whispered.
"darling," Simon began, but their conversation was interrupted by Soap, barging in with urgent intel.
"We gotta go, but can we talk more when this is over?" Simon asked as he grabbed his gun.
"Be safe," she said
They nodded at each other, acknowledging the unresolved emotions between them as they prepared to face the imminent threat.

DOES THE PYRO VISON HOLDERES DESERVE THEIR ELEMENT?
PYRO
Ye, so Pyro is associated with war in Genshin. Why? Wecause war ravages the land and it kills everything its touches. A heavily destructive force, the element is also related with bad temperaments and rage.
Pyro's positive qualities is its warmth, light and energy.
It can be used to represent love, courage, strength and passion perhaps even ambition.
Now, I am bad at explaining the way I feel a character would represent the love aspect. But basically big positive feelings towards a select few or the entire world. You get me?
Let's begin.
AMBER
Amber is a warm and friendly character but so is most of the cast, so I won't call it out unless a character's warmth is significant enough to do so.
She's energetic, passionate and courageous.
KLEE
BOMB
Also, she a very energetic and passionate child. Klee is also considered the strongest of the knights of Favonius. Also the destruction aspect.
LIGHT
WARM,FUZZY SWEETHEART.
Guys she would love so hard oh my gods. Family, friends, random strangers. It's hard not to adore her and she just loves. I feel so upset about characters that love, like why do we deserve you. Why do we deserve your love. We are horrible, HORRIBLE people.
DILUC
His vision burned out after Crepus died. To compensate for this, Diluc used his father's delusion whilst he hunted down the Fatui. That man went on a rampage and he was exiled from Snezhnaya. So.. rage and destruction.
There's also the case that he lashed out at Kaeya and attacked his brother when he told Diluc about his connections to the Abyss Order allowing Kaeya to gain his vision.
Diluc's vision was rekindled of course, but it was interesting that his passion died the night his father did. The man still holds his dedication to justice.
Power.
Courage.
Also, he and Kaeya have a fire/ice kinda deal going on. I think Diluc and Kaeya deserve to get more story quests, like there is so much more we need to know about those two.
I can't really tell anywhere from the game, the comic or anything about what his relationship with Kaeya used to be, and how badly it broke. I feel that they both want to rekindle their relationship but aren't sure if the other wants to.
Even then, I feel like Diluc also falls int the love aspect. He got banned from a REGION because of what he did after they took his father away from him. His relationship with Kaeya is messy but you KNOW that man has a LOT of feelings.
And that may just be why I think he works with the love factor. His actions gives us an idea of how large and heavy his emotions are , you guys get me, right?
XIANGLING
Let's be honest, her dedication to the art of cooking already explains it. Also she's a chef.
XINYAN
Passionate of course, she's really friendly as well and she has a fiery personality.
Courage in a way. Imagine going onto a stage time and tome again and despite your audience constantly throwing tomatoes at you, you keep coming back to perform what you love.
HU TAO
Energetic.
She also has an interesting relationship with death. She believes that death is a natural part of life and feels that trying to prolong it is meaningless. Hu Tao embraces death.
Also she's a funeral parlour director. Cremation.
I adore how she's associated with butterflies, a symbol of death and change.
YANFEI
You would expect someone who works with law to be a hydro user wouldn't you.
Oh well, Yanfei is very passionate about the law. Like damg.
Also. Fun-fact: She finds Fontaine 's laws too difficult. Which is understandable.
THOMA
I'm not a ThomaTo shipper, but he definitely loves the Kamisato siblings. They are like a family to him and he is extremely loyal to them.
Thoma is a very friendly character and hardworking. He's also protective of the Kamisato siblings. idk guys, he's just one of those characters that you just know loves with all their heart.
YOIMIYA
FIREWORKS
passionate about fire works
friendly
DEHYA
She's from the desert.
She's strong.
Destruction.
Courage.
Her vision came to her at a low point making it a light at the end of her tunnel .
LYNEY
He is passionate about magic. He's the extrovert of the hearth siblings. He shares an element with Arlecchino, which may hint to them having a closer bond.
Light.
Courage.
The terms 'smoke and mirrors' is used when referring to a magician's tricks.
I'm gonna say a case can be made with love, for his siblings, 'Father' and for the magician that trained him and Lynnette. This boy rarely leaves his sister's side for long periods of time. Also he loves the traveller I don't make the rules you gays can't change my mind.
MOVING ON
CHEVREUSE
Passion
GUN
Courage
GAMING
His name is FIRE. He's passionate about his art. He's friendly. REALLY friendly and courage works too. His animations are LIT.
What more do you want?
CONCLUSION
Passion seems to be the most common trait amongst these fiery little guys.
Cryo next and I promise you I will gush about Kaeya and his beautiful face .
Bye!
Edi: i forgot Yoimiya.

Ways of being a father (Blue Lock)
Lyrics chosen and translated from Alligatoah's song Nicht adoptiert ("Not adopted")
Note: I didn't write something for every set of lyrics, but still wanted to keep some in to assign characters. Also thanks to @remy-roll for helping me a little 🫶 mwah mwah
gn!child!reader (reader is implied to be different ages in different parts)
If you're listening to this, you're alive, congratulations / I always knew you'd become more than a broken condom
Let's be honest, you weren't planned. Being a father initially wasn't part of his life plan, but then you happened. But he wouldn't replace you for anything in this world.
-Shidou, Barou, Karasu, Oliver, Noa, Ego, Raichi
Cause I don't believe in marriage you were born a bastard
-Oliver, Otoya, Karasu, Nagi
Sure, we love you, but there's a reason for that, kid / Nature arranges it like this so we won't kill you
Sometimes being a father can be frustrating and exhausting. But no matter how annoying you might get, his fatherly instinct always wins. In no way would he ever intentionally do harm to you.
-Barou, Ego, Kaiser, Raichi
It looks like you're family / Looks like it's just us now / We've got to get through it now, blood's thicker than beer / Sorry, you ain't adopted
-Lorenzo, Lavinho, Chris, Oliver, Karasu
I have no idea how to take care of children / But don't worry, I'll find a tutorial
He went into fatherhood completely without knowing what to expect. It all came a bit out of sudden for him, and he was too anxious to prepare himself properly. But when he held you in his arms for the first time, he knew he'd figure it out just fine.
-Nagi, Isagi, Bachira, Zantetsu, Kurona
The good thing is, I don't even have to share any knowledge with you / You can just read the wiki entry
-Nagi, Oliver, Zantetsu, Lavinho
I won't always be there for you, I have to party hard too / Did I say "party"? I mean "work"
Being a father doesn't mean that's the only part of his life now. He'll try to be there for you whenever possible, but there will be moments when he gets lost in other things.
-Otoya, Oliver, Karasu, Lavinho, Shidou
Joking aside, the ego-pig in me is happy that you are coming / Cause then I can play with Lego blocks
A part of him is still a child as well. And hey, being a father means he gets to play with toys again - that's something he can look forward to.
-Bachira, Shidou, Lavinho, Nagi, Isagi
Cause even though I'm putting effort and thinking about how / I can take the pressure off and still get you into bookstores / Something I do will lead to trauma, c'est la vie / I'll be the star of your psychotherapy, have fun
As careful as he is with you, he knows at some point he'll do something wrong. He's perfectly aware of how he won't always be the perfect father, but he's still trying his best.
-Barou, Ego, Noa, Isagi, Kunigami, Reo, Yukimiya
-Reo, Ego, Barou, Raichi, Kaiser, Tokimitsu, Yukimiya
You'll see my burdens, I've given them to you / If you think your genes are bad, they're Papa's genes / But you're my update, you can fix the bugs
You may not be a carbon copy of your father, but the similarities are undeniable - both the good and the bad.
-Ego, Barou, Shidou, Kaiser
In the beginning it's ambition like in a chess duel / You will emulate me until you outshine me / The balance of power is on my side - currently / But your chance is good, because Papa's withering parallel like a leaf
Being his child also means being his rival - in a fun way. If there's something to compete in, there will be playful competition. Board games, soccer in the backyard and running random races when you're just walking somewhere together - things like that.
-Shidou, Bachira, Karasu, Lavinho
This has to come out now 'cause later I won't be the same / When you're around I'm sure I'll write some corny shit / No more tasteless jokes, no more Hitler comparisons
He was more of an immature person before, but he knows after your birth he has to become more serious as a father - at least that's what society expects from him.
-Bachira, Oliver, Karasu, Shidou, Lavinho
-Zantetsu, Tokimitsu, Isagi, Snuffy, Yukimiya
Even though being strict clashes with my liberal nature / I'll pretend I'm interested in your Spanish exam
He doesn't care how much of a good or bad student you are, but he knows you'll have to pass school somehow. As much as he doesn't care about your grades, he pretends as if he does to keep you encouraged. But of course you'll get praise for your hard work when you get good grades.
-Isagi, Chigiri, Bachira, Ness, Yukimiya
I'll be mad at you for every adolescent booze story / But don't be afraid of me just because I fuck your mother
-Oliver, Karasu, Lavinho, Shidou, Raichi
I'm just an old cynic who writes frustration poems / But I swear I'll give it all to you till the end of my chapter
He'd do anything and everything for you. He will always make sure you feel safe and loved, no matter what age you're at. Even when you become an adult, he will always be your father and protect you as good as he can.
-all of them.

Title: Another Day in the Future Pairing: Jimmy Neutron/Timmy Turner Rating: Gen Word Count: ~6K Ao3 link
--- It was one of those rare days where there was nothing major going on. The stars only align like this every few months. Jimmy was in his lab as usual. Libby and Sheen were on a date. Carl was at the zoo. Cindy? Who knows, who cares? Certainly not him. All was right with the world. The multiverse was quiet. Well... Aside from one glaring issue.
"Jimmy. Jimmy Jam. James. James Isaac Neutron. Uh... What is that Cindy calls you? Nerdtom? Nerdtron! Nerd the candy. Candyman."
Timmy Turner wouldn't shut up.
Jimmy refused to respond to any of those nicknames. He was far too busy working on his blueprints. Turner was in his lab being a nuisance, touching everything. Despite the number of times Jimmy had told him not to touch anything. Even going as far as to actively shake the chair that the boy genius was sitting on. It was taking everything in Jimmy’s power to not lose it.
"Jonathan." Turner shook the chair harder. How Goddard was able to sleep through all this ruckus was beyond him.
"That’s not even close to my name.” Not-Jonathan whipped his head towards the most annoying person in his lab. Probably the entire multiverse. “What in the name of science do you want, Turner?"
Turner shrugged, unaffected. "I'm bored.” He let go of the chair. His eyes went wide with an idea. “Ooh, can we create a bad guy to defeat again? That was fun."
Jimmy rolled his eyes, "You never learn."
"Nope!" Timmy smiled wide. As if his buck teeth needed more exposure.
“Why don't you play poker with your holograms?”
“He’s banned.” Cosmo said from a distance. Jimmy didn’t bother turning around. The holograms liked to play random board games off to the side. They were unintrusive, unlike their creator. They liked to play chess, monopoly, and apparently some fairy related board games?
Jimmy didn’t ask questions anymore. The one time he did, he got sucked in for about three days straight. It was brutal. Friendships and marriages were tested.
“Timmy is scary good at poker.” Wanda said.
“What? No way, you guys are just bad at lying.” Timmy protested. A valiant effort to defend his non-existent honor, but ultimately a useless one.
“It’s not fair!” Cosmo threw down his cards. The cards flew over Jimmy’s workstation and landed helter-skelter all over his blueprints.
"Why don't you just go home?" Jimmy brushed aside the loose cards. The mess would be future Jimmy’s problem.
"Vicky is babysitting again," The three of them intoned. It was eerie how in sync they could be at times.
Ah yes, the babysitter: Vicky. One of the cruelest people Jimmy had ever had the misfortune of interacting with. They only met once, but the memory of clinging onto the seat for dear life and then being thrown out of a car kept him up on random nights. The world Timmy lived in was absolutely terrifying. No wonder he didn’t want to return. Especially with a babysitter like that.
His friend would often complain about his babysitter. It was odd to know he had one, especially since they were only one year apart in age. Jimmy’s own parents were always around or made his grandma come over. He shuddered at the thought of the last time his grandma was supposed to take care of him. Still, he’s been able to stay home alone more often than not. Not like Turner ever had that opportunity.
"Well, that is her job,” Jimmy continued sketching out a small device. “My job is to work on an upgrade to make travel between dimensions more convenient for the team."
It’s been something he’s been meaning to do for a while. Traveling between different worlds had become a bit of an inconvenience. First he would need to track down Danny, Spongebob, Timmy, bring them back to the lab or whatever meeting place they were at, and fill them in on the details. Then they’d split up. If they got lost then that took up extra time to track the lost member down.
It was a whole tedious process.
Designing something handheld that each member of the team could carry with them would be useful. It would help with communication and knowing everyone’s location, especially in a time of a crisis. It could also make transportation between universes a lot smoother.
"Oh!” Timmy shook the chair again. Jimmy was going to defenestrate Turner one of these days. “I know what you should do instead. You should build a meeting area. It can be in space."
“You know you could just wish that up, Sport.” In the corner of Jimmy’s eye, he could see Wanda flying right next to her creator.
“Oh yeah.” Timmy blinked. “Nah, later. I want to annoy Jimmy right now.”
Jimmy sighed as he put his pencil down. “Having you here irritating me this only seems to be a disservice to my future self."
"Hey…” His friend smirked, never a good sign. “Future self, huh? You ever wonder what you're going to be like in the future?"
"Nope." Jimmy shut that down.
"Why not?"
"I already know.” He held up his blueprints, tilting his head. Did they look right? No. Something was missing. He put them down. “I'm going to get multiple Nobel Peace Prizes, be rewarded for helping make advances in science, and not be married to Cindy."
"And how do you know that?" Timmy crossed his arms.
"Because I built a portal to the future." Jimmy said, erasing a detail he didn’t like. He was going to redraw that one bit again.
"What?” Timmy pushed Jimmy’s chair. “When was this?" The table shook with the force of Timmy’s push, sending his pencil flying across the room.
Jimmy heaved a long-suffering sigh.
His attempts to get anything done would always be foiled as long as Turner was here. At least one of the holograms teleported his pencil back. While they were bound to Timmy’s chaotic whims, they still did things of their own volition.
He remembered his friend’s question, "Oh. A few months before we made Shirley."
“Huh… Do you still have it?”
“It should be somewhere in the back of the lab,” he said absentmindedly, vaguely gesturing to the back. Mm, erasing pencil lines was annoying. Maybe he should just start over.
“Cool!” Timmy ran off.
Finally, peace and quiet.
Jimmy enjoyed it for about five seconds before the implications nearly knocked him onto the floor. He jumped out of his seat and went after Turner. He was not going to let Turner mess with time. Let alone unsupervised.
“Is this it?” Timmy stood right in front of the Chrono Arch.
“How many times in the past have we messed with time?” Wanda crossed her arms.
“This is different. Now we're messing with the future.” Timmy smiled.
“He’s got a point there.” Cosmo mused.
“No, you will not.” Jimmy approached them and the arch. “That’s odd. There should be a sheet covering it.”
“Well, there isn’t.”
Said sheet was sitting in a puddle on the floor to the side, discarded. He could've sworn he covered it. Last time, he swore to himself that he’d never  mess with his future ever again.
Dictator Libby was enough for one afternoon adventure.
Timmy cracked his knuckles, wiggling his fingers as he reached out to push some buttons.
“Turner!” Jimmy pulled him away by the collar before he could do so. He was getting way too good at stopping Timmy moments before disaster. “Let me handle this. How far into the future do you want to see?”
He looked over to see if everything was still stable. The machine was still plugged in. Odd.
“Mm.” Timmy tapped his shoes. “I don’t know. Ten years?” He glanced at Cosmo and Wanda. Cosmo only shrugged.
Ten years? They would only be in their early twenties. Well, there was no doubt Jimmy would find some success. He’d probably be in college, finishing up a master’s… Or maybe even a doctorate.
While his parents wanted him to stay in elementary school to be around other kids his age, they didn't have those same restrictions when it came to his later teen years. If he played his cards right he could probably finish up high school early. A vague plan, but a plan nonetheless.
The next ten years didn't seem that interesting. Just boring high school stuff he had seen in movies. Music, dancing, and unrealistic romantic woes.
The last time Jimmy ran the machine he did at least fifteen years to see what he was like in his mid twenties. He was thriving, along with his other friends.
“Ten years feels a bit too soon.” Jimmy summarized his thoughts.
“Uh… Twenty years!” Timmy said. Twenty years into the future. It seemed so far away. He’d be in his thirties, basically an old man.
“I hope there’s flying cars!” Cosmo said.
“Cosmo sweetie, we can already fly.” Wanda reminded him.
“Oh yeah…”
“Alright,” Jimmy punched in the exact date twenty years into the future. “Let’s have a look at Retroville twenty years from now.” He turned the machine on.
The boys peered through the archway to see future Retroville. It seemed altogether more stylish, with better paved roads, floating billboards, and robots patrolling the sidewalks.
People were wearing sleek futuristic outfits.
Jimmy searched for his future self. He landed on a house with a rainbow flag. Calling it a house was an understatement, it was almost a mansion. There his future self was, sitting in a living room surrounded by prizes. He looked unbothered by life, and more importantly, there was no Cindy in sight to bother him. Hopefully he was far away from Timmy Turner as well.
“Seems like everything is as it should be.” Jimmy stepped back from the Chrono Arch, arms akimbo as he admired a future where things were calm and he was successful.
“What about me?” Timmy crossed his arms.
Jimmy rolled his eyes, “I don't know if we’d even be friends that far in the future.” Of course everything had to be about or related to Turner. “Who’s to say you would even be in Retroville?”
Timmy grinned with mischief in his eyes, “Let’s find out.” Then he ran right into the portal.
“Timmy!” The holograms yelled and flew right after their creator.
“How did I end up with Vicky’s job?” Jimmy wondered aloud to his empty lab. There was only one thing he could do. He ran through the Chrono Arch.
The lights were blinding. Traveling through time or between different dimensions did not get any easier.
“This place looks cool!” Timmy yelled, which made Jimmy flinch. His ears were still ringing a bit.
Turner never seemed to be affected by these sorts of things. Were those the consequences of having holograms teleporting him anywhere? Did that make things easier? He would do more research, but Timmy was very protective of Cosmo and Wanda.
After Jimmy’s eyes adjusted, he looked around. It was still very much Retroville. They landed in a more suburban area. Not a place Jimmy frequented. This was more where the upper middle class were located. His parents were regular middle class.
He only knew where they were because this street went all out during Halloween. There would be fake skeletons, grand decorations,  and oh, the candy would be marvelous.
This was probably the street where his future self lived. Nice.
The holograms were no longer in their fairy forms. Instead they had morphed into oddly colored squirrels, sitting right next to Timmy.
“Turner!” Jimmy yelled, Timmy’s wonder crashed into annoyance at Jimmy’s voice. “You weren't supposed to go into the future.” Jimmy’s eyes widened in panic. He patted himself down. “Darn it, and we have no means of getting back.”
Jimmy didn’t even have Goddard with him. At least last time he was in the future with Carl and Sheen, the robo- dog was there to help make travel easier.
“Speak for yourself, I have Cosmo and Wanda to poof me back. You however, seem very unprepared.” Timmy said.
“We are not going to leave Jimmy stranded in the past.” Wanda scolded.
“Thank you Wanda. I came unprepared because you ran here with no warning.” Jimmy said.
“You saw my scheming face.” Timmy shrugged. “You were warned.”
“Not the point.” Jimmy groaned. “Let’s go find James.” He started walking.
“Who’s James?” Timmy jogged up to him. That jog became a walk, matching Jimmy’s pace.
“Future me, I don't want to say future Jimmy a hundred times.”
“Oh. That makes sense. Do we call my future self something else too?”
“Thomas does sound like a more grown up name.”
“Thomas?!” Timmy stopped. “You think my name is Thomas? Ew.”
Jimmy smiled at his friend’s distress in the slowly growing distance between them.
Timmy caught up to him, “Why are we even friends? I thought you knew me.”
“If your full name isn't Thomas then what is it?”
“Timothy.”
Jimmy snorted, “Timothy? Timothy Turner.”
“Timothy Tiberius Turner.”
“Your dimension is obsessed with alliteration.”
“Nope, just my parents.”
Jimmy opened his mouth, ready to insult them. He closed it. Timmy didn't mention his parents often. Though from the little bits of information that Jimmy has been able to gather from context clues and through interacting with them, they didn't seem like the best.
Yet Timmy was still fond of them. He got defensive if anyone implied otherwise. It wasn't worth the petty squabble.
They kept walking.
“So what are we looking for?” Timmy broke the silence.
“James’ house. I saw it briefly before we went.”
“You remember it?”
“Barely.” Jimmy sighed. “I know it had a flag outside.”
“Like that?” Timmy pointed to a rainbow flag.“What country is that?”
“No country has that flag.” Jimmy said.
It’s odd. He didn’t understand why he would have a rainbow flag outside his residence at all.
“I’m pretty sure there’s a country with that flag.” Cosmo said.
The two boys and the two squirrels went up the porch. Timmy knocked on the door.
"Honey, I told you to remember your keys-" James opened the door and took a double take. Wheels seemed to turn in his head before he looked down to stare at the boys. "Not you two again."
"Again?" Jimmy asked. This was the first time he had gone to this version of the future.
Timmy went inside. "Sweet place you got."
"He says that every time." James rolled his eyes, turning on his heel to follow Timmy in.
"Every time?” Jimmy asked.  Alarm bells were starting to go off in his head. “Have we been here before?"
James stepped to the side, “Just come on in." He gestured into the house, a tired yet soft smile appeared. Jimmy doesn't think he’s ever worn that expression before.
Before the future was alluring and full of promise. It was supposed to be exciting. Now that he was there faced with an older version of himself made things feel different.
It made it real.
One day he was going to have all of this. Success wasn't a question, it was a guarantee.
Something would happen that would make him wear this emotion so easily on his face. That was scary, because he had no idea what would cause it.
He stepped inside, regardless of his misgivings. It was his portal that brought Timmy here and he was going to bring him back to the past. Possibly kicking and screaming.
The inside was bigger than he expected it to be. There was a living room to the left. Timmy was already taking everything all in. The walls were a rich rusty color, and a light green rug contrasted the rich black couch and loveseat. They had soft pink pillows on top with cute little hearts. One pillow was full of rainbow hearts, which seemed like an odd design choice.
Little trinkets lined the fireplace. Jimmy… Begrudgingly admitted to himself that he was too short to see the top but he could see the edge of a snowglobe  that said Dimmsdale. Something else seemed to have Phantom’s logo on a plush of some kind? Merch perhaps? Following that line of logic, there must also be something from Bikini Bottom, but there were more than three items on the mantel. A hint of new members in the future? Fascinating.
His Nobel Peace Prizes were on full display on a different shelf, the same ones he saw when Sheen and Carl were first looking at their futures months ago.
It was sleek yet cozy. Lived in, but there were no pictures hung up. Which seemed like an odd detail, or lack of one.
Timmy stood on the other side of the room closer to the television. At least that’s what Jimmy assumed it was. It looked a lot flatter than any television he had ever seen.  It sat on a television stand, books lining the shelves below. Classic literature mixed with... What the hell was a Crimson Chin? Why did his future self have volumes of it?
“What’s this?” Timmy picked up a controller.
“It’s the newest gaming system, I got it as a favor in advance.” James said.
“Really? Cool!”
Jimmy turned to his future self with suspicion. “Since when did we get into video games and comic books?” He asked. Sure, Jimmy liked video games, but not to this extent.
“My spouse’s hobbies.” James said.
Jimmy eyebrows raised in surprise at that. He got married? But- His true love was science!
As if his future self knew exactly what he was thinking, he raised his hand up from his pocket, showing off a wedding ring with a comforting smile.
Timmy shook the controller, still in his own little world, “How do I start playing?”
“Nope.” James snatched the controller out of Timmy’s hand. “It’s supposed to be a surprise gift for my partner.”
Jimmy liked using his big vocabulary but this seemed excessive. Why wasn’t his future self just saying wife? He hadn’t even dropped one pronoun, almost carefully sticking to gender-neutral words.
"Are Cindy and I still married in this version of the future?" Jimmy asked.
"No." James replied, almost annoyed. “You really think Cindy is into video games and comics? She’s too busy being a senator.”
“Cindy and I aren’t married. This is truly the best future!” Jimmy started doing a little dance. “Wait, she’s a senator?”
"Enough about Nerd Brain over there, I wanna know about my future!" Timmy whined.
"For the last time Turner, we are in future Retroville. Not future Dimmsdale." Jimmy turned to James. "Tell me we aren't still friends in the future."
"That's one way of putting it." James stifled a laugh.
Jimmy raised an eyebrow, "I highly doubt I've always been this vague."
“I’m being vague for a reason. We need to get you two back, the past is already changing with every second you stay here, and I’d like the present to stay exactly how it is." James said.
"Even in the future you're still so pushy and demanding." Timmy pulled a face. “Can I play at least one game?”
“No.”
The door opened with a squeal of hinges, and a stranger walked in.
"Hey Handsome," he said, his face obscured by armfuls of  grocery bags.
"T- Babe! Hi. I think you should stay outside." James said.
"You seem tense." The stranger put the groceries down on the counter.
Jimmy noticed the buck teeth first, then the wedding ring. The same one his future self wore.
His heart stopped.
No.
His worst fears were realized when Future Timmy pulled Future Jimmy closer, the same way his dad would his mom. Then Future Jimmy and Future Timmy started kissing. The world slowed down. Dramatic classical music blasted in Jimmy's mind.
His future lips… Were on future Turner's.
"I think I'm going to faint. Or vomit. Or both." Timmy fell backwards.
Jimmy couldn't stop staring. How did this happen? What? When? Why? How? What?!
The future was still messed up. That was the only logical reason.
Future Timmy pulled away from his future self. Good. He needs to stay away. Very far away. A separate dimension far away. Several dimensions.
“Woops. Didn't see those two.” Timothy rubbed the back of his neck.
“I always tell you, you need to be more aware of your surroundings. How many times have I had to save your sorry butt?” James raised an eyebrow.
“I lost count.” Timothy shrugged. “Besides you love my butt, Sweetbuns.”
James laughed.
Jimmy and Timmy cried.
“Make it stop.” Jimmy groaned.
“This is a fate worse than an afternoon with Vicky.” Timmy sat up.
“How did this even happen?” Jimmy asked.
"I was around eighteen? There was a party in Retroville. Do you remember who was throwing it?" Timothy turned to James.
"Libby, I think. Her parties were the only ones worth going to."
"Oh right. So Jimmy and I get there together, and there's booze. I want to try some but Jimmy starts being a buzzkill so I trick him into drinking."
"Cool!" Timmy said.
"Wait, how?" Jimmy asked.
"Reverse psychology with a pinch of peer pressure." James sighed. "Timmy isn’t as dumb as he seems. He can actually be quite clever, when he wants to be."
Timothy smiled, "Aw-"
"I'm still mad at you for that." James threw a soft elbow into Timothy’s ribs.
Timothy let out a soft oof before wrapping an arm around James’ waist. "It's been like ten years! Plus we're married."
Jimmy covered his eyes. This was not happening.
"I don't see how that is relevant." James said.
"Anyway, drunk Jimmy is an absolute riot.” An evil little smile grew on Timothy’s face. “He was starting to strip, getting really cuddly, he tried to get in some fights, he started crying over a penny."
Timothy started to laugh, and James, mock offended, shoved hands at his shoulders to push him away, which only made Timothy laugh harder, though his arm stayed firmly around James’ waist.
Timmy made a disgusted face and Jimmy nodded in agreement. How could they have fallen so far? How could they have fallen for each other? One night drinking caused this??? Yeah, no. He was swearing off alcohol. Forever. The loss of brain cells from drinking clearly affected him.
James playfully rolled his eyes, "I was being set up. Everyone was trying to get me drunk!"
"Because you never got drunk before. It was... Incredible.” Timothy’s eyes brimmed with emotion as he stared ats James. “But then he started vomiting, and that was not so great. I barely drank so it was up to me to take care of him. Then Jimmy starts going on and on about how great I am and then drops the bomb that he loves me, then passes out."
Jimmy clenched his fists, cheeks burning. "Why would I even be so foolish as to drink alcohol?"
“I got curious and Timmy really knows how to push my buttons.” James said.
“That’s not the only thing I can do.” Timothy smirked.
“Babe.” James, honest to Einstein, giggled.
“Ahhh!” Jimmy covered his eyes. He did not want to think about the idea that one day in the future he was going to have intercourse with Timmy ‘two plus five equals six, right?’ Turner. “I need to bleach my eyes and sand down my ears.”
“Same.” Timmy gagged.
Jimmy sat down on the couch. This was too much information, and he really loved information. Not this kind. Never this kind again.
It was utterly mind boggling. How could he- When?
"Wait, what about us? When did we- You fall for Timmy?" Jimmy asked.
James sighed. "Thirteen."
"What?" Both Timmys said.
"Thirteen? That’s two years from now." Jimmy started panicking.
There could be no way in hell that he falls in love with Timmy Turner in about two years' time. Yet the proof was in front of him. A life, domestic and cozy with that insane buck-toothed boy.
"Wait, you never told me you liked me for that long." Timothy said.
"It's cheesy." James said. "It was on a recon mission. So we were gathering information on some mountains. There was a rock slide and Timmy pulled me out of the way."
"That's it?" Timmy tilted his head. "That's kind of boring, if that's all it takes then I guess I won't save you from any falling rocks."
"I don't need saving from falling rocks." Jimmy said.
"Clearly you do." Timmy poked him in the arm.
"Do not! Are there any rocks here?"
"I wish-"
Jimmy covered Timmy's mouth.
"I fall in love with him? Him? That can't be right... So he saved my life. We save each other all the time. Why was that any different?" Jimmy pleaded to know.
"It just was." A soft smile appeared on James’ face. "I was so grateful when Timmy pulled me out of the way. So many times I had to be the one to think of a way out of the situation, it felt so rare whenever someone else had to do that for me. Yet here Timmy was, constantly doing that. It felt inevitable…"
Jimmy's chest started to feel weird. His hand got wet- Damnit, did Timmy just lick his hand?!
"Ew!" Jimmy ripped his hand away.
“You didn’t let me talk!” Timmy glared.
“You deserve a muzzle.” Jimmy wiped his hand on Timmy’s shirt.
Timmy screamed.
“Aw, we are so cute.” Timothy cooed. “Wait- Do you have Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof on you?”
“What’s a poof?” Timmy turned to his future self.
Cosmo and Wanda winked into existence over Timmy’s head.
“You remember us?” Wanda’s eyes widened.
“Neat!” Cosmo smiled.
Timothy gasped, almost tearing up. “Yeah, Jorgen didn’t take my memories. Saving the multiverse and Fairy World a few times gives you that sort of privilege.”
“We save Fairy World? Multiple times? Us?” Timmy asked. It didn't seem like that far of a stretch. After all, he was on a team dedicated to keeping the multiverse safe.
“Yup. My Cosmo and Wanda retired but they still visit me every so often. I guess Poof hasn’t- I should keep that one a surprise.” Timothy zipped his lips.
“Cool! I get to keep my memories of Cosmo and Wanda.”
“You were going to forget about them?” Jimmy asked.
“It’s…” Timmy rubbed the back of his neck, looking away. “It’s a story for another time.”
Jimmy eyed his friend, “What do you mean-”
“Who wants cookies?” Timothy clasped his hands, breaking the tension.
“Me!” Timmy got up and ran to the grocery bags, ravaging through them.
Timothy whistled with fake innocence. Jimmy turned to his future self but James only put his hands up.
Whatever. He’ll confront Turner about it later.
“What on Earth possessed you to fall in love with him?” Jimmy gestured to the two Timmys. The fear ran through this heart. There were two of them. Over there, bonding over cookies. The holograms were buzzing with energy.
How the world hadn’t exploded yet was beyond him.
“I’ve spent the last twenty years asking myself that every same question. Why him?” James grabbed a cookie and passed it over to Jimmy. “Long story short; he makes me happy.” He shrugged.
“He’s nothing but a nuisance that causes problems for everyone else to deal with.” Jimmy grabbed the cookie and bit into it angrily.
“We did that a lot as a kid too.”
“Wha- Did not!” Jimmy covered his mouth trying not to let the crumbs fall onto the floor.
James pulled up his hand and started counting off different incidents they were responsible for, “Pants, aliens, nanobots, the N-men, evil clone-”
“Okay.”
“Addictive candy, permanent sickness, rapid aging, I can keep going.” James gave a mischievous smile.
“We fixed all of those issues.”
“We also caused them.”
A rebuttal was on the tip of Jimmy’s tongue.
“Oh my God-” Timothy pushed his younger self out of the way to get over to the gaming system. “Is this?”
“Hey!” Timmy pouted, on the floor.
“It’s exactly what you think it is.” James said.
“It’s not even out yet.” Timothy was completely mesmerized.
“I know. I’m the best.” James put his arms around Timothy’s waist. “I was going to set it up before you got back but I was interrupted.” James glared at the kids.
“If you’d opened that up without me getting to hear you go on and on about the latest advancements in gaming I would've divorced you.” Timothy kissed James on the cheek.
“You should divorce anyway.” Timmy said in between bites. The crumbs fell onto the wooden floor.
“Overruled.” Timothy smiled. They began kissing again.
Jimmy ripped his gaze away from them. Maybe Dictator Libby wasn’t the bad future. Maybe this was the bad future. “Alright. That’s enough.” Timmy stood up. “Cosmo and Wanda, I wish we were back in Jimmy’s lab in our own time!”
---
When they got back to the lab they stood in silence. There was a lot to unpack.
"So, we get married in the future." Timmy started off, breaking the awkward silence.
"Don't remind me.” Jimmy held his head in his hands. “This is somehow worse than that future where I was married to Cindy."
"Hey! I don't exactly want to get married to you either, calling you Handsome and Sweetbuns." Timmy shivered.
Jimmy covered his ears. "Please stop talking!"
"I can't stop thinking about it!"
"Neither can I!"
"Agh."
"Aghggh!"
They glared at each other.
Jimmy could never and would never fall in love with Timmy Turner. He simply refused it.
It was still impossible to wrap his head around it. This was coming from a boy genius who could understand anything.
How could their lives ever lead to marriage? They could barely agree in the present. It made no logical sense. It made less than no sense. It made negative sense.
Wanda and Cosmo transformed back into their default fairy forms.
“Oh come on, marriage isn't the worst thing in the world. Right sweetie?” She smiled at her husband.
“Marrying Wanda was one of the best decisions I ever made,” Cosmo simpered.
“Aww,” Wanda cooed.
"It might work out for you two, but for Timmy and I marriage is completely illogical. I cannot believe my future self not only entertained the idea but went forward with it. At least in a heterosexual-"
"Pfft.” Timmy interrupted. “You said sex."
Cosmo giggled along with Timmy.
“Oh stop it you two,” Wanda said and they stopped.
Jimmy rolled his eyes, "In a male-female relationship there is at least the possibility of bearing offspring."
"Offspring?" Timmy titled his head.
"A baby." Jimmy explained.
"Oh. Yeah no, I can't have a baby.”
"I can!" Cosmo chimed in.
Jimmy and Timmy stared at him. Apparently this was also new news to Timmy. It only adds to the theory that perhaps Turner got the holograms from somewhere else.
Wanda only nodded in confirmation.
"I'm not addressing that. In a homo-" Jimmy groaned. "A male-male relationship, I could see the potential benefits-"
"See, that's why you're gay in the future." Timmy said.
"WE ARE BOTH GAY IN THE FUTURE!" Jimmy, honest to God, wanted to lunge at Turner.
"Lalalalala!" Timmy covered his ears. "Cosmo, Wanda, I wish I couldn't hear Jimmy."
The two holograms did as they were told. They raised their wands, and beams of light with a shower of little sparkles fell from them.
One day Jimmy was going to pop Turner like a balloon. Preferably before their wedding. Scratch that, their wedding day would never happen because Turner would be dead.
"Real mature, Turner." Jimmy shook his head and crossed his arms. “Can you tell him that I said we need to talk about this?”
“Jimmy says he thinks you should still talk to him.” Cosmo said.
“Nope.” Timmy turned away from Jimmy.  “I’m going to ignore him for the rest of my life.”
“Timmy says-”
“I can still hear him Cosmo.” Jimmy cut him off. Cosmo frowned. The hologram was only trying to help. “Thank you though.”
“Timmy, you can't ignore Jimmy forever.” Wanda said.
“Yes, I can.” Timmy crossed his arms. “Watch me.”
Jimmy walked in front of him, “You’re still in my lab!”
Timmy closed his eyes and turned in another direction.
Jimmy groaned, “I can’t believe my future self would ever agree to marrying you!”
“Jokes on you, Fudgehead. I can't even hear you.” Timmy stuck his tongue out at Jimmy.
Jimmy started violently shaking Turner.
Wanda pointed her wand at Jimmy and dragged him to the other side of the lab.
“Aw, I hate seeing couples fight.” Cosmo said.
“We’re not a couple!” The two kids shouted.
“Oh no, they’re divorcing.” Cosmo grabbed his wife in fear. “Wanda, we have to fix this.” He shook her.
“They aren't even married yet!” Wanda pushed Cosmo off of her. She looked back at the two boys in front of her. “Err- Will be? Time travel is tricky.”
“I do not want to get married. No way, especially not to peanut skull over there.” Timmy said.
There had to be a way to get out of this situation. He just needed to think, think, t h i n k.
Brain blast.
“What if we just forget?” Jimmy thought aloud to himself. He started grabbing materials to make a device to forget.
“Forget? Uh, are you sure that’s a good idea kiddo?” Wanda asked.
“I’m very forgetful. I forgot where I put my lawn gnome the other day.” Cosmo said.
Jimmy spread out the materials and started working on the device, “If we forget then we can live without the burden of knowing our future selves fates.”
“Wait, what is Jimmy doing?” Timmy looked back and forth between the three of them. “I wish I could hear Jimmy again.”
Cosmo and Wanda raised their wands. The “wish” came true.
“You’ve finally come to your senses.” Jimmy said flatly.
“What were you saying before?” Timmy asked.
“We clearly don't like knowing we’re married, so let’s change that.” Jimmy started putting the pieces together. “I can build an amnesia ray-” “I saw one back over there.” Timmy pointed in a random direction with a strange amount of conviction.
“I don’t remember building such a thing.” Jimmy scratched his head, putting down the pieces. “Of course you wouldn’t remember. It’s an amnesia ray. Duh.” Cosmo said.
He almost hated how much that made sense.
“Well, let’s grab it and forget this awful day.” Jimmy saud.
“Wait!” Timmy tackled him.
“What in the name of Einstein are you doing?” Jimmy tried to glare at Turner but that proved futile. All he could do was kick and punch the air and floor.
Timmy sat on the genius’ back, “You’re trying to entrap me in a marriage.”
“Excuse me?” Jimmy stopped.
“I know a loophole when I see one. If we forget, then we get married. If we remember, then we won't get married. You want us to get married.”
Jimmy’s jaw dropped. “What?” Darn it, he did not think of it that way. “I don’t want us to get married at all!”
Timmy narrowed his eyes. “I’m onto your games, Neutron.”
“That’s enough.” Wanda pointed her wand at the boys and pushed them to opposite sides of the lab. “You two are acting ridiculous. One, marriage isn’t something that just happens. It’s a commitment. One you make every single day. That type of love comes once in a lifetime for humans. Your future selves were deeply in love. They experienced things you’ve yet to, their decision may not make sense now but who’s to say it won’t later down the line?”
“Yuck.” Timmy made a face.
“Absolutely not.” Jimmy folded his arms defiantly.
“Which brings me to point number two, you two are children.” Wanda reminded them.
“So don’t worry so much about marriage.” Cosmo chirped.
“It’s been a long day.” Jimmy yawned. “Maybe we shouldn’t act with such haste.”
“I guess you guys are right. It’s been a crazy day. I wish we could just forget this ever happened.” Timmy sighed.
Jimmy’s eyes widened. “Turner-”
“Wait!” Timmy yelled.
Cosmo’s wand flashed.
---
It was one of those rare days where it was quiet in the lab. Jimmy worked on some projects that he had been avoiding. Carl and Sheen were both independently busy. The multiverse was quiet, well... Aside from one boy with gigantic teeth.
"Jimmy, I'm bored." Timmy Turner said.
"And that is my problem because...?" Jimmy asked as he screwed in a piece for his working prototype for a new communication device.
"Because- Woah!"
Jimmy turned around. It was him but taller? Him as an adult.
Future Jimmy shot a laser at Chrono Arch. It exploded into nothingness.
"What are you doing?" Jimmy ran over to the newly destroyed portal.
"You two keep going into the future, get freaked out, decide to forget, go back into the future, get freaked out- It's annoying. Cute the first few times, but I'm at my limit." Future Jimmy threw a small box towards Timmy. "Have fun."
Timmy caught the box, "Decimator 2: Destiny's Revenge. Cool! This isn't even out yet."
"He's so easily entertained." Future Jimmy said, with a slight fondness.
"Do you remember the last time he had a copy of Decimator?" Jimmy glared at his future self, trying to get a hold of Timmy but he already ran away to cause chaos.
"Of course I do, you can handle it. You always do." Future Jimmy ruffled his hair.
"Hey!" Jimmy tried to fix his hair.
"Take care. Don't try to kill each other." Future him punched something onto his wrist device. They made eye contact. “I shouldn't say anything but, good luck. I promise it will be worth the wait.”
“What’s worth the wait?” Jimmy asked.
Future Jimmy only glanced at Timmy.
Before Jimmy could ask what he meant but his future self already left.
“Uh… Jimmy. I think I broke something.” Timmy held up the broken prototype Jimmy was working on not even three minutes ago.
Oh.
