terrible things ~ wilbur x reader
angst

pronouns: implied she/her
notes: inspired by the song, terrible things by mayday parade. i apologize in advance <3
that’s when i met your father, the boy of my dreams. the most beautiful man that i’d ever seen.
“mommy?”
you looked away from your coffee cup to meet your child’s bright eyes staring back at you.
“yes, honey?” you asked, smiling softly.
“what happened to my father?”
immediately, you felt your heart tighten. you had put off talking about your husband for as long as you possibly could. phil, techno, even tommy. everyone who cared for you worried about you. you had thrown yourself into caring for your child, barely even giving yourself time to feel.
“when you’re older, baby,” you tilted your head sympathetically.
the daughter clung to your leg, pouting up at you with puppy eyes. the same her father would make whenever he wanted a hug or kiss from you. you were never the disciplinarian. to be honest, neither of you were. you hoisted your daughter onto your lap, preparing yourself emotionally.
“well, since i was your age, i was convinced i would be a leader. no one could ever tell me i needed a husband, i thought boys were frivolous. while my friends would talk about crushes and cooties, i would talk about sword skills and the inner workings of our country. i never thought i’d need anyone. until i met your father…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you swung your wooden makeshift sword at a tree, grunting as it was stuck in the bark. you pulled at the handle, kicked at the stump, and eventually plopped down in the grass beside it, frustratedly.
“need some help?” a soft voice asked you.
a small boy your age crooked glasses and a yellow sweater he seemed to be quickly outgrowing.
“no. i can do it myself,” you huffed, brushing yourself off and attempting to pull the sword out again.
“my dad says it’s always best to accept help, even if you think you don’t deserve it.”
“my dad used to say if you can’t do things on your own, you shouldn’t do them at all.”
“your dad’s wrong,” the boy shrugged, leaning against the tree.
“do you mind?”
“i’m wilbur,” he grinned, sticking his hand out for you.
“i’m tired of this,” you folded your arms against your chest.
“well, tired of this. do you want to be friends?”
“my dad said friends make you weak,” you muttered, shifting from foot to foot.
“your dad’s wrong,” he repeated, smiling. “anyways. sometimes, everyone needs a knight in shining armor.”
with a swift hit to the handle in exactly the right place, the sword fell to the grass. your chest rose and fell as you glared at the weapon.
“thank you,” you mumbled.
“i’ll take a friendship as an apology.”
you rolled your eyes at him, a smile threatening to cross your face.
“fine.”
wilbur’s face lit up with a toothy smile.
“but,” you began, pointing a finger at him. “only because i owe you.”
“oh, of course,” he nodded, stifling a grin.
“y/n. my name. i’m y/n.”
“y/n,” he repeated. “i like it. i’ll see you around, y/n.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“and then what happened?”
your curious daughter that had been squirming in your lap, now settled, relaxing in your arms.
“well, a few years passed, and we became practically attached at the hip. inseparable…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i can tell by your eyes that you’re in love with me
“stay together- be safe!” phil called after the two of you, as if you would’ve gladly left the other alone.
“we will!” you chorused, already bolting away.
the once short and underdeveloped boy had grown into a lanky, somewhat scrawny teenager. stretch marks dotted his knees from an unexpected growth spurt at twelve. he had long since ditched his glasses, claiming that he was too mature for his crooked lenses. suspiciously, he had adopted the spectacles back once he had overheard a conversation between niki and yourself in which you told her you thought boys with glasses were cute.
the two of you flopped onto your backs at the same willow tree you had first met. it had become a memorial of the start of your friendship, a place you visited often.
clouds drifted through the sky, the both of you pointing out ones that looked like ducks and cats.
“d’ya ever think about your future?” wilbur asked you out of the blue.
“yeah. i’m gonna be a ruler. you can be one of my royal consorts,” you shrugged.
“what’s a consort?”
“i dunno, i heard my mom use it once. i suppose it’s like an advisor of some kind. you’re my second in command!”
“well, i’m fine being your second. as long as you don’t let it go to your head,” he nudged you, smiling.
you rolled your head to the side, meeting gazes with wil. his eyes searched your face, and for a second you were confused. you had barely even acknowledged the thought of crushes- you didn’t know what they felt like. later on, you could assume it felt a little like this.
the two of you leaned in, connecting your lips gently. neither of you had any clue what you were doing, it was both of your first kisses. as soon as it began, you pulled away. you didn’t miss the blush creeping into wilbur’s cheeks, just as he didn’t miss the smile you tried to hide behind your hand.
“i- crap. i li-“ wil stammered.
“i know.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“ew, cooties!”
“you’re right, cooties. that’s why you never kiss boys,” you pointed at your daughter.
“anyways, we loved each other. we had since the day we met, just were too young to know it…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
im asking you, please. you know that i love you, will you marry me?
“gods, you look beautiful, honey,” niki cooed as she placed flowers behind your ears.
“you think so?”
“i know so! wil is going to be speechless.”
“we haven’t been out for weeks, with all of the battle preparations,” you sighed, placing your face in your hand.
“don’t remind me. there you are, perfect!” niki smiled, squeezing your shoulders gently.
“thank you so much, i owe you.”
“oh, hush. you owe me nothing,” she dismissed. “now, hurry! he’s waiting.”
there was a calm breeze as you walked to your willow tree. the air smelled floral and familiar, like it was curated just for you. you heard the soft strum of a guitar, and your steps quickened.
a grin plastered itself across your face as you saw your love, surrounded by blue petals and lanterns, plucking the strings of his instrument. it was a scene out of a movie as you took a seat in front of him. he smiled at you softly, not speaking until the melody finished.
“i love you,” he began, clasping his hands around your own. “i have loved you since i’ve known you. you are my muse, my meaning. without you, i’d perish beyond means. i promise i’ll care for you when you’re sick, when you take up half of the bed, when you insist on midnight walks- i’ll take it all.”
by now, tears of happiness were falling down your face, you practically already nodding.
“y/n y/l/n,” he started, pulling out a dark ring.
you interrupted him, throwing your arms around his neck and all but tackling him to the ground.
“will- you- marry- me-“ he laughed in between kisses. “i’ll take that as a yes.”
“yes, yes. of course it’s a yes, you idiot. i love you,” you smiled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“but if you lived happily ever after, where’s dad?”
again, your heart felt pained. your eyes filled with tears as you squeezed your daughter’s hand.
“sometimes, it was just never meant to be…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
please don’t be sad now, i really believe, you were the greatest thing that ever happened to me.
you were married as soon as possible, only your close friends and family invited to the wedding at the willow tree. a few months later, you were expecting. once you told wilbur, he was ecstatic. your family was growing. alas, the past few weeks had been strained. wil had grown further apart from you, feeling as if he were worlds away while he laid next to you. it all became clear, all the pieces clicking once the three of you stood in the final control room.
“wil, please. you’re going to have a child- you have me! you can’t do this, think of everyone,” you pleaded as phil held your arm.
“i’m sorry, my love. truly. i wish there were another way. i will never stop loving you. never,” he smiled sadly, his fingers dancing across the button that would annihilate your entire nation.
“it was never meant to be.”
phil held you close as you sobbed, his shouts at his son drowned out by the sounds of explosions. once the dust settled, you saw your boy, the same one who had always had the brightest eyes, dull and lifeless as he stared at you.
“i love you,” he mouthed as he nodded at phil.
you didn’t quite understand what was happening, not until it happened. your hand flew to your mouth to muffle your screams as the man’s blade plunged itself into it’s target. you scrambled to your lover, his soul already left his body. you cradled him in your arms as long as you could before his father had to carry you away from him.
from that day forward, you pledged to throw everything you could into daughter- the legacy of your late husband. you swore you’d never leave her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
don’t let it get you, i can’t bare to see the same happen to you.
“he’s gone?” she breathed out, tears falling down her little face.
“yes,” you sniffled, failing to hold back your own tears. “yes, he’s gone. but he loved us very much, even if he never got to meet you.”
your daughter clung to your shirt, not fully understanding everything. you would explain to her later more in depth, when she was old enough to understand.
“you were his unfinished symphony. his little melody,” you smiled down at her.
melody would learn to understand her father through stories from you, her uncles, and her grandfather. the two of you continued to visit his final resting place- the willow tree you had buried him at. for a while, it had only reminded you of misery, memories you’d never get to relive. but, ever since melody had been born, the tree was rejuvenated. it even seemed to sway as if it were listening when you spoke.
your wilbur, his love, and your baby, melody.
your symphony.

Lee from the tea shop- an atla oneshot(maybe?)
The gaang walked out of the Jasmine dragon with smiles on their faces. They didn't have any meetings or meet and greets to go to today, so their formal attire was traided for simple clothes, like the ones they wore when they fought the fire nation together. Zuko had his hair pulled back into a simple pony tail as he held hands with Sokka. It was peaceful. Until a tiny body barreled into Zuko, knocking him back into the path. The rest of the gaang got ready for a fight, but Zuko laughed.
"Kai?!" The small figure looked up and beamed at the fire lord. It was a young man their age, but he was short and had choppy brown hair.
"Lee! I knew it was you! Guys, you can come out know! I told you it was Lee!" The rest of his friends looked confused as the short man- Kai- helped Zuko off the ground. A young man and a young woman stepped around the corner. They were all in greens, laughing as they pulled the fire lord into a bone crushing group hug.
"Agni save me! I don't need two friend groups who love touching me! Let go guys!" He struggled and finally jerked himself out of the grip. He stumbled and grabbed onto Zuko and Toph to balance himself.
"You're in big trouble Lee! Why didn't you tell us you were the crown prince of the fire nation?!" The woman punched his shoulder while giving him a playful glare.
"Ow, do you have to hit so hard? If the Dai Li had over heard me telling you guys, I would have been arrested on the spot. You know that." The tallest of the group reached out and forced Zuko into another bone crushing hug. He was genuinely sobbing, snot running down his face as he cried.
"My baby's the fire lord! My little Lee is ruling a whole nation of spark makers! I'm so proud of you!"
"Nalin! I can't breathe!" Zuko once again struggled out of his grip.
"It is kind of a bummer. You made the best tea in the Earth Kingdom! No, In the world! Now we wont get that tea!" He laughed at the woman.
"Jin, I still work at the tea shop sometimes." Those words just made the taller man sob louder and babble about...something. Kai snickered.
"How much you wanna bet you're still a big baby when it comes to my noogies?" Zuko crossed his arms and looked down.
"You should be careful. I dont think someone of your size should be threatening anyone taller than a five year old." Zuko smirked as Kai kicked his shin.
"How about you come down here and I'll show you a threat?"
"No, I think I'm good up here thanks."
"Hey babe? Do you want to introduce us to your friends?" Sokka looked confused as he wrapped his arm around Zuko.
"Oh right! Guys this is Nalin, Jin, and Kai. We were neighbors when I lived here. Guys, this is my fiance Sokka, his sister Katara, Toph, and Aang."
"Fiance?!" They gaang watched as Nalin's lip trembled. Jin clamped her hand over his mouth.
"Alright pal, we get it. You're proud of your son. Enough with the water works alright?" Toph crossed her arms.
"How were you three able to get so close to him?" She had a confused scowl on her face. Kai raised an eyebrow.
"Can I pick a fight with herm. She's shorter than me!"
"Be my guest. She'll beat you then I wont have to hear you."
"I went on a date with Lee and he gave me a coupon for a free cup of tea."
"He helped me take care of my little sister when she was sick by making her tea and soup."
"I broke into his room by accident and got one of his dao swords pointed at my throat." The gaang looked mildy horrified as Kai shrugged.
"Wait, why Lee?" Katara asked.
"Yeah, Lee is such a common name. And you're...uniquely essentric." Aang said with a lopsided grin.
"Exactly Lee is such a common name. It makes it easy to blend in when you have to specify which Lee."
"And Lee from the tea shop is the most popular Lee."
"And LEEast to us!" Zuko groaned as Sokka burst out laughing.
"Nalin stop! It wasnt funny then and it isnt funny now! Oh agni you've killed my future husband!" That's when the rest of the gaang started laughing. Zuko snickered and laughed with them. He may not see these guys oftain, but he still cared about them.
(AAAAND IM DONE. I'm tired. I only post after midnight when I should be asleep. Have this garbage.)

Twenty minutes later...
Do you know what you are supposed to do when the love of your life sits pale and barely breathing in a room?
No Im genuinely asking
Because running out of the room and collapsing to sobs on your knees does seem valid however Logan just stood there. He stood there frozen, Barbara knew what to do. She ran to Pattons side, taking his cold hand, silent tears as she examines his soft face. Virgil emerges moments later, the family rule disposed of as he takes Patton's other side. Roman took the end, and soon the room felt tight, he couldn't breathe.
He wanted to yell
Or cry
Or do anything remarkably human
But he just stood, nurses and doctors rushed by him, his friends talked in whispers of concern.
Why didn't he care?
He could hear the rest of them talking, questions fired at the nurses and doctors, sweet words of encouragement for a speedy and safe recovery for Patton. Telling them how much they care for him, but not Logan. In what seemed like minutes, the rest had decided to give Logan a moment. A moment for what? That was lost on him but alas the room fell quiet.
“This is your own fault, you understand that right?” He finally sets on speaking, not that anything would respond. Unless you count the steady monitor and the wheezes from the machines. “I'm not sure how many times I must clarify this but I'm not Liam. You can tell me things, you can trust me”
He scoffs, his arms crossed over his heart.
“None of us are Liam. You know I don't say ‘I love you’ ok?” He pushes, he can feel his nostrils flare. Do something Patton, respond. “I've only said it to my mothers and you” He glares, why was he just laying there. How dare he? “You took that from me!” He takes a second, breathing deep. “You knew...you knew this was going to happen. You have a will...its reasonable. You have two kids, a sister and assets at your disposal. But they showed it to me, they brought it to me”
He took his copy out, the crumpled and tear stained document felt too heavy.
“I, Patton Hart, residing at 1823 Millow Lane, declare this to be my Will, and I revoke any and all wills and codicils I previously made.” Logan begins to read, his hands shake noticeably but he continues. “I leave minor children surviving me, my daughter Valerie and son Remus. I appoint as guardian of the person and property of my minor children my partner Logan Tolentino. He shall have custody of my minor children, and shall serve without bond. If he does not qualify or for any reason ceases to serve as guardian, I appoint as successor guardian my sister Barbara Hart.” He finishes, some small part of him almost hopes that Patton awakes. An explanation ready. “This was recent, you knew, you knew something was going on!” He shouts, he tries to recenter but he can't, everything is too much. How was he supposed to handle these things?
“Logan? Everything alright?” A knock allows him to remember he's here.
“M’fine” He lies, and soon it's just him once more. “You changed it, this was clearly recent because I know you. I know that it takes you forever to trust people...although looking back on this unfortunate event you don't trust me. How dare you do this? How dare you not tell me, how dare you turn away from and do this” He rips the paper, watching its remains crumple to the ground “It's not that I can't do it, or won't” He states “Its that I don't want to…” He approaches Patton, finding himself next to the pale faced man. “I don't want to do this without you” He breaks, the anger shatters as his hand meets Patton's cold touch. “Please Patton..” He barely whispers at this point, his heart feels too heavy to be his own. “You do not get to be the love of my life and then die, you do not get to do this to me. Do you understand?”
“Papa?” Logan turns and eyes in horror as the twins, so bubbly and sweet, lose everything about them. Emile bursts through, his eyes and breath apologetic. “What happened...to papa?” Remus cries, Valerie shakes her head.
“Logan I am so sorry, they ju-” Emile begins but Logan sighs.
“It's alright” He assures standing, Emile takes his cue and walks away, leaving the three of them in the room...well four of them, for now. He takes them both in his arms, a breath of relief knowing they exist, knowing they are there and ok. He leads them to the bed, sitting at the end as they fear their place. Valerie squirms first, crawling closer, but alas her hands recoil. Remus has no qualms, he jumps hugging his father.
“Papa wake up please” He begs, his voice so soft. His energy and excitement for the mystery of life is gone. He wanted certainty, he wanted his father. Soon his sad calm aura turned quick to confused anger. “Wake up! Wake up papa! Wake up!” he cries, Valerie's simple tears, as she watched in pity for her brother, were nothing compared to the waterfall. Logan takes the boy, embracing him gently in his arms, soothing him to breathe. Valerie adjusts herself under the blankets, hugging Patton as she tries to mimic his sleep pattern. Logan watches knowing his world is breaking, and he's only got a smidgen of knowledge of what to do.
“The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout, down came the rain and washed the spider out” Valerie hums, Remus eyes her red and puffed. She continues her gentle tone, and Remus joins her on Patton's other side. Both cozying up to him, simple and sweet tunes until the pair tire themselves out. Sleeping away, Logan sits in the chair, he watches hoping to protect them for a moment before his own eyes fall prey to the idea of rest.
~~~
A week later…
“So we ended up going to the wrong store” Logan explains as he sets up the meal, the children giggle placing the sheet over the table. The hospital had granted them permission to use a table, and set up for meals in Patton's room. “Here you are” He hands plates to Valerie, she juggles them carefully setting them neatly upon the surface.
“Imma go get napkins!” Remus declares, he enjoys the sweet gushes the nurses give him so running through the halls was his favorite pastime.
“He's not gonna come back with napkins” Valerie sighs, continuing to help Logan. He sits by Patton, recalling their day. “Lollipops maybe, but not napkins” She finishes giving Logan his moment to set the food. He had been trying his hardest, help from Roman and Remy was required for cooking. He followed the recipe and tried for a simple mac and cheese today, with some salad and sweet desserts.
“Ready?” Logan asks as Remus emerges with a bundle of his own finds, none of which included his treasure he had set to get.
“Don't forget food for papa” Remus reminds, Valerie nods already chomping into her meal. The twins had insisted they set a place for him every time, serve him food and Logan would wait until he was alone to pack it back up. They knew he wasn't eating it but it was nice. “He's going to be so big and strong when he wakes up”
If he wakes up
“Absolutely” Logan agrees. So they eat and Emile comes to pick them up for a day away, Logan cleans and makes sure everything returns to normal. He can't say he doesn't enjoy the few moments alone, it takes time to go from a solitary routine, to adding a romantic partner and then children.
But he misses the second part more than he cares to admit. He sits at the end of the bed, stroking away Patton's loose hairs, the freezing touch scares him. He moves closer, somehow finding himself exhausted and wrapped around Patton. Its funny, he used to dream of the day's end when he could cuddle up in bed alone, the world was his own. But he hadn't realized how much he missed having someone, Patton, there with him until it was gone. Sleep had been awful, restless, but as soon as he had his protective arms around Patton, making sure he was ok...Logan fell fast.
“Careful Lo, hes just a baby” Patton smiles, swaddling the young child in Logan's arms. The man fears his own breath, the smallest of tears as he watches the young one snore so easily. Patton keeps his arms connected and in this moment they just are, they feel connected. A soft kiss to Logans cheek as footsteps shuffle behind him.
“This is Jamahl, Terrences brother” Cindy introduces, Patton flashes his award winning smile. The boy remains hesitant, keeping his eyes steady on the little child in Logan's arms, he has no choice he thinks. If he wants to keep his brother safe this is his option. So he goes with them.
“Where are we going?” He asks, as the neighborhood finds itself less familiar. Patton looked at him, he insisted on sitting in the back with the children. Keeping an eye on the baby.
“Home” He replies, Jamahl scoffs shaking his head. “My home, and Logans and if you would like it to be...your home” Patton corrects, Jamahl gets a choice? That's new. “Oh I should warn you-”
“Here it comes” The twelve year old sighs, Patton keeps a gentle grin.
“I have two twins at home, they're both five years old.” He pulls out his phone, swiping to show a shining photo of Patton and two young ecstatic children, “Thats Valerie and that's Remus” He points, beaming with pride. Jamahl nods, ok...not as bad. “They're wonderful and...five years old and very excitable so just be wary” He laughs, Logan could never get tired of the sweet sound.
They arrived at the house quickly, and Patton was not wrong to warn the child.
“Im Valerie!” A young girl smiles, shaking his hand vivaciously.
“Im Remus!” The boy greets, a giant hug. Jamahl freezes but allows it to happen, thanking whatever ethereal being let Patton pull the twins off him.
“Remember what I told you humbugs, no touching unless they are comfortable with it ok?” Patton reminds, they nod before waving their goodbyes. They run off and Logan disappears into the hall, coddling the baby. Jamahl looks worried and Patton assures him. “You wanna come see what's going on?”
“Yes please” He nods and finds himself allowing Patton to lead him into the baby room. A bed set up for him as well, he watches Logan be ever so careful with the baby and Patton respect his boundaries. He shrugs.
Maybe this won't be so bad.
~~~
A month later...
“Its your fucking fault!” Logan decides, Emile shushes him backing him up from Virgils heated face. “Everything that is happening is your fault!”
“Logan you're being a dick right now” Remy announces, a glare from Emile quiets him. Logan scoffs kicking the chair underneath him, scaring even Roman.
“And yours too” He points, his nasty finger threatening the detectives. “Why didn't you do anything, day after day he came to you! About Liam! And now because of your fucking negligence, he was too scared to come to you and tell you about these phone calls!”
“You know what Lo? I shouldn't have told you, as of now you have no legal bindings to Patton, so me telling you that we searched his phone and found the phone calls, that was a courtesy” Virgil spits, Logan goes to approach not sure what his next move is but thanks to Roman and James he has no time to figure it out. They command him to sit, calming both parties and get a soothing talk down.
“You know it's his fault Roman” Logan sighs exasperated, Roman nods unsure but doesn't want to to escalate.
“You know what, fuck you Logan!” Virgil screams, Logan stands.
“You're the reason those children are gonna lose their father!” Logan retorts, that catches something. Virgil pushes past Remy, almost landing one on Logan before Roman grabs him, both surprised by how well they fit together. Silly to think about at this moment.
“Maybe if you weren't so fucking cold they would see you as a father” Virgil replies once more, that hurt. Logan won't lie that his knees buckled and he might have fallen right then had Barbara and Marcy not taken him and cared for him. He wants to keep going but a chilling throat clears the room. Instantly they both look to the doctor who stands, judgmental but patient.
“Hes awake”

No borders - Chapter 2
word count: 5003
SUMMARY:
“It’s just us 5 right?”
“Forever.”
“No men allowed… ever. Let’s promise to eachother that we will never let any man come in between us!”
“Never!”
Naive promises told at a young age, just between 5 best friends. They promised their world to eachother, “best friends ‘till death breaks us apart”. 10 Years passed. The same 5 girls, but no longer blinded by those “stupid promises”. It will be broken. The promise of a lifetime. The lust of love is what makes us all see unclear. We lose our friends, or soulmates, we fall for the unknown, we fall for lies and for the feeling of being important to someone who will drag us far away from who truly matters.
“Forget about the world… forget about them… right now, it’s only me and you. They don’t need to know that I love you.”

CHAPTER 2
Sooyoung found herself in the most awkward encounter with her alleged “boss” at the dinner, in a pub where all you could see were horny couples grinding on eachother on the dance floor and drunk dudes whistleing and winking at her. She felt out of context, especially because all Yuk Hei was doing was drool over every chick who would pass his sight.
“Could you be any more obvious…” sighs Sooyoung.
“Jealous?” says Yuk Hei now smirking at her.
“You’re drunk. Maybe it’s better if I will drive your car to your home, so that I make sure WE get there safe and I can take the subway to my home-“
“I’m not drunk, Sooyoung. I just wanna have some fun tonight, whether if it’s gona be with you or with some random chi-“
Sooyoung was so full of it that her punch met the table in the loundest way possible which made Yuk Hei forget his words.
“Hey.. I was joking, ok..”
“I am not joking here, Yuk Hei. If you just wanted me to come here for you to get me drunk and get laid with me, you should’ve said so. Goddamnit, boys are all the same!” screams Sooyoung, now being angrier than ever before, while grabbing her purse and running out of the pub.
She felt like tearing up. She can’t stand this feeling anymore. Every guy she tries to even be friends with, they all end up wanting “something” back… She is sick of these “species” called males.
“SOOYOUNG!”
Sooyoung doesn’t bother to turn around and she wipes the small tears from her eyes hearing Yuk Hei running after her. Soon, he catches up to her and grabs her hand firmly, turning her to face him, centimeters away from eachother.
“What.”
“I’m sorry.”
“For what. Nothing happened there, I’m just tired. Take me home. Or I’ll take the subway.”
“I’ll take you home Sooyoung.”
They were now standing in the even more awkward silence than the atmosphere at the pub. Yuk Hei was pretending to be focused on driving and Sooyoung was desperately refreshing her messages waiting for a message from Yeri who seemed to have been offline the entire day. She sighs.
“What’s wrong..?” says Yuk Hei while putting one hand on her leg.
“Don’t touch me.” And she throws his hand away.
Yuk Hei suddenly stops the car at an empty gas station.
“Sooyoung, I know you don’t have a good impression of me-“
“Damn right.”
“But tonight I invited you to change that.”
“Does it seem like it worked?”
“No.. but I want to make it work.”
“What do you even want Yuk Hei…”
“You.”
Sooyoung swears she gaged at this word.
“Excuse me?”
“Sooyoung… give me a chance.”
“You are my boss!!” quietly screams Sooyoung.
“So? I’m technically not. I am just the chief of your department Sooyoung, and nobody would care anyway. One chance. Let me prove you that you are the only woman I’ve been thinking about lately.”
The strong smell of liquoir was now filling Sooyoung’s nostrils and she knew what she had to do.
“You are drunk and saying nonsense. Grow out of it. Tomorrow you wont even know what you just said now and you will get back to sleeping with 10 different girls per night.”
“That is not true!!” protests Yuk Hei.
“Oh yeah? Tell me more of how you fucked almost all the models from our company until now except me and Chung Ha. Hmm, I wonder WHY you chose exactly me and her to go out with you tonight. Luckly Chung Ha is not a stupid, sensitive person like me.”
Now Sooyoung feels more uncomfortable than ever. She just wants to run out of this stinky car.
“You- How do you know that??!! You got proof, honey??!!” screams Yuk Hei, now seeming like a monster in comparison to the innocent Sooyoung.
“I- BECAUSE I HAVE EARS YOU DUMB SLUT! DON’T YOU THINK I TALK WITH THE GIRLS YOU USE?? Don’t you think they cry to me after you ruin their lives with sweet lies, promising them the moonlight and in the end, leaving them on the edge of killing themselves??!! They feel like worthless whores after you use them!” Sooyoung can’t believe she just had the guts to say this.
“Sooyoung.” Says Yuk Hei while locking the doors of the car.
“W-what. W-what are you doing??” Sooyoung is now on the verge of crying and screaming.
“I will teach you a lesson, Sooyoung. Right here, right now.”
Yuk Hei unzips his pants and Sooyoung swears that she’s going to start crying.
“Yuk Hei please… Let me go, I don’t want you.” Cries Sooyoung while hitting on the door to open.
“After this, you will want me, baby girl.”
He takes his pants off revealing his expensive underwear and his very erected member.
Sooyoung is a smart girl. She wipes off her tears and crawls on top of him.
“See, you already know what you have to do baby girl. Now please your boss and maybe we’ll see about a promotion or something-“ but Sooyoung turns around and presses the button to unlock the doors. She falls on the stone-cold ground of the empty gas station and starts screaming for help. Right when she gets up, Yuk Hei grabs her hand animalistically and covers her mouth. Sooyoung bites with all her power on his finger and Yuk Hei screams in pain. She left her purse in his car, but she couldn’t care less. She is now running, screaming for help, but there was hardly anyone on the street. She runs for the subway station where she finds a tall man, dressed in a suit, lazily scrolling on his phone while waiting for the subway. She runs to him and grabs his hand desperately like her life depended on it. The male stands up in fear.
“Please help me. I am being chased.”
“By who?”
“There is a guy! Tall, black hair, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. H-he is trying t-o-“
“Don’t worry, stay by my side and if you see him, I will make sure nothing will happen to you, alright? Calm down please.”
Sooyoung takes a seat next to the man who looked so neat and who smelled like vanilla. She is trying to catch her breath when she realized her shirt was half unbuttoned and she lets out a small cry.
“I’m sorry…” she sobs.
“It’s alright. Don’t worry.” Says the man trying to reassure the insanely scared girl.
The subway arrives in the station and they both go in, no sign of Yuk Hei still following her.
“Do you think he is still looking for you?”
“That guy… He is my boss… I will have to face him at work… Or at least when I will apply my resignation.”
“Aha… Do you live far from the subway station where you get down? I can take you to your place if you’re still scared.”
After what happened, Sooyoung couldn’t trust anyone. Especially a stranger. She had no phone or money whatsoever at her so she had no one to call.
“May I use your phone..?” she quietly asks.
“Of course.” Says the man while taking out his huge, expensive phone.
Now the problem was: the only phone numbers she knew were her mom’s, her aunt’s and… Yeri’s. But Yeri hasn’t answered all day to her messages and calls, why would she answer now… She’s probably asleep. But she still tries her luck. She calls.
…
“Hello?”
Sooyoung swears she will start crying hearing the reassuring words of her best-friend.
“Y-yeri-ah… It’s me, Sooyoung. Joy.”
“JOY??!! Is this a new phone?”
“N-no.”
“What is wrong?” and now Yeri’s voice turned darker and more serious than ever.
Sooyoung starts crying.
“Y-yeri.. can you come pick me up from the subway station please.”
“SOOYOUNG WHAT IS WRONG??!! Yes!! I’m coming right now!” there is a pause and then Sooyoung hears the voice of a male on the other end, talking to Yeri and telling her ‘See you some other time?’. Sooyoung’s stomach ached.
“What was that-?”
“What was what? WHERE ARE YOU JOY??!!”
“In the subway, im getting down in 2 minutes. I’ll explain when we meet. Bye.”
…
The man smiles at her.
“Is everything ok? Is someone picking you up?”
“Yes yes! Thank you so much, Mister! This is where I get down… Thank you again…”
Sooyoung must’ve bowed to the man 50 times because she couldn’t thank the him enough.
When she exits the subway, there she is, Yeri, in the most gorgeous dress in the world, a silky black dress complimenting her body like a crown compliments a princess’ head. She worriedly runs to hug Sooyoung tightly and puts her jacket around her.
“Sooyoung… oh my godness… what happened??!!”
Sooyoung wipes her tear of happiness after seeing Yeri.
“Yuk Hei. I went out with him.”
“What??!! Your boss you mean??”
“Ex-boss. I aint walking in that office ever again.” Sobs Sooyoung while being guided by Yeri.
“Oh no… What did he do…”
“He tried to rape me Yeri.”
Yeri could swear she is going to punch a wall. She feels as anger grows inside of her and she feels like both crying and go look for the guy who did this to her other half.
“Soo…young.” Yeri finds her words terribly hard. “I cant believe this..” and she falls into Sooyoung arms, hugging around her small waistline. Sooyoung pats her head and they both start crying under the dark sky filled with stars.
---
It is the next day and Irene shows no sign of being calm, standing in front of all the girls, after Sooyoung told them what happened.
“Where does he live???”
“IRENE!!”
“What?? HE needs to pay!”
“And what? You will go and fight him with your pilates movements??” replies Seulgi, making Wendy burst a small laugh.
“Hey.. I think the best way to deal with this is calling the police, right?” says Yeri. “This was almost harassment!”
“ALMOST, Yeri. The police cant do anything if it DIDN’T ACTUALLY HAPPEN and if Sooyoung has no sign of harassment on her body like bruises, hickeys, blood, cum.”
“I do have some bruises from when I fell on my knees…” says Sooyoung looking to the ground like being embarrassed to talk about what happened.
“Doesn’t prove anything!” screams Irene, being on the verge of giving up. She cant take stressful situations for shit.
“Ok ok ok. I see all of us are stressed here so what about: Sooyoung, you give your resignation throught email to the main CEO of your company so that you don’t have to go there and give it yourself and encounter the bastard. Next step, buy you a new phone.” Says Wendy.
“With what money…” replies Sooyoung demolished by the thought that she is now jobless.
“We will help you sweetie!” says Seulgi while kneeling in front of Sooyoung and massaging on her knee like a mother reassuring her daughter.
“I cant girls- I cant let you do this for me… I need a new job.”
“I think I can solve this…” says Yeri.
“Wait? What? How? I thought your company doesn’t accept any new models?” says Irene.
“Not me… I got a.. well… friend who can help you.”
“Friend??” gasps Wendy.
“The guy.. The guy I went out with last night.”
Wendy swears she choked while hearing about him.
“The photographer huh?” she says.
“Yes! Him.”
“Wait what- What guy?” says Sooyoung more confused then ever, until she realizes the male voice she heard last night through Yeri’s phone.
“He is a photographer for my company and for another company aswell. He also said his other company are looking for more models since they are at the beginning and she asked me if I know any girls willing to do this and guess what-“
“No.” says Sooyoung all of the sudden.
“What??!!” screams Irene. “ Are you crazy Sooyoung??!! This is the best opportunity ever given to you!”
“No… I don’t want the mercy of your boyfriend, Yeri.” And with this, she leaves the room leaving only silence between the girls.
“H-he is n-not my boyfriend.” Stutters Yeri, trying to catch Sooyoung not to leave the house.
“You said y’all went out huh? Wasn’t it like a “date”?”
“I mean… It was but Sooyoung… He’s not my boyfriend, actually, I don’t think we have much in common, I don’t know.” Says Yeri trying to find her right words with her clearly jealous “friend”.
“Problems in paradise…” whispers Irene.
“Irene!!!” screams Seulgi.
Irene is now smirking while leaning on the wall. Seulgi swears sometimes she wants to rip that cocky smile off Irene’s face. She thinks too much. Her mind always “overthinks”. Irene thinks Sooyoung likes Yeri, but Seulgi denies this.
Sooyoung is now back in the room with the girls, sitting next to Yeri who is hugging her, to soften down the panicked friend and try to convince her.
“Sooyoung.” Says Wendy while biting her lip, not knowing if what she s about to say will affect her future… “I think you should accept working for Yeri’s… um.. friend.”
“Yees! See, all of us encourage you, Sooyoungie! Come oon! He is soo nice, you have nothing to worry about! I also heard one of his models is the Instagram Model Seo Soojin!” reassures Yeri excitedly.
“WAIT FOR REAL?” gasps Seulgi.
“Oh my god Seulgi, your crush is showing off…” sighs Irene.
“SHUT UP! You know I love Soojin, I follow her since she started her career!”
“Why don’t u marry her then…” says Irene sassily while looking at her nails.
“Irene… fine, I will shut up…” pouts sadly Seulgi and looks to the ground.
Irene smirks again. Knowing that Seulgi wouldn’t do anything over the power of her word. She basically has Seulgi at her little finger… and she loves it.
---
It’s been a day. The girls spent it all together, watching 2 romantic movies at which Irene wanted to puke 5 times and Wendy didn’t pay any attention. They cooked together, played video games and had silly conversations. Nothing unusual.
Yeri is now alone, on the hallway, calling her photographer friend.
…
“Hello. Hi Yuta, it’s me, Yerimmie.”
Of course, you don’t need to say who you are you know? It says when you call” says Yuta sarcastically, while letting out a small laugh.
Yeri seemed unphased but she left out a small laugh for the situation to not be awkward.
“So, you told me about your other company and that you are looking for new models?”
The conversation goes on, Yeri basically begging for him to take her bestie, Sooyoung, as a model at that company. They both come to the agreement that Sooyoung needs to come to an interview with him and his friends, the ones that basically run the entire company. He reassures Yeri that they are a trustable company, after Yeri summed up to him what happened to Sooyoung last night with her alleged “boss”.
Wendy listened to the entire conversation. ‘Yuta.. this sure is an unusual name… just as beautiful as the man who owns it…’. Wendy caught herself thinking about him again. This is bad Wendy. BAD BAD BAD.
---
The following day, Sooyoung is more nervous than ever. She just sent her resignation through email to her CEO and she is waiting for an answer while she is getting ready for the job interview Yeri arranged for her. Sadly, Yeri wasn’t available today to come with her, since she had work to do, a runway most exactly, very important and couldn’t miss it. Irene refused to come because she “had better stuff to do”, Seulgi cried about how she has too many photos to edit and the only one left was… Wendy.
“I-I don’t think it’s a good idea…” stutters Wendy knowing that if she goes there, she will see Yuta.
“Comee onn!! Why not! You re the only friend I have left who doesn’t have work to do today. Please!”
“H-how do you know I aint got work t-to do..?”
“YOU DON’T WENDY!! You just said yesterday ‘Oh man, I cant wait for tomorrow to come since I have nothing to do but to laze around’.”
“Oh my god…” Wendy facepalms herself. “You really pay a lot of attention to what I say don’t you…”
“Yes. Now get ready. Dress up formally since not only me, but my bestie has to make a good impression too.”
“Whatever.. all im gona do was cheer cringely for you anyway….”
Still, she knew she will meet him. She had to look good, at least decent.
Wendy decides to go for a green, college-like sweater with a pair of skinny black jeans that complimented her legs like no other, some black knee-high boots and a leather jacket.
Sooyoung was wearing her hair in a ponytail, dressed in a flowy dress, Balenciaga Triple S shoes and a Balenciaga jacket.
They soon leave Sooyoung’ s apartment and they get In her car where she starts blabbering about how nervous she is. Wendy couldn’t help but not focus on what she was saying. She was nervous. She was just as nervous as her best-friend. Maybe even more. ‘No wrong move, Wendy.’ ‘Don’t look at him, Wendy’ ‘Don’t faint, Wendy’. It is BAD BAD BAD.
There they are. In a huge, 45 storey building, all glass everywhere and the most futuristic furniture. Dinamic walls that imitate a waterfall are welcoming the girls at the entrance desk, where an inasanely gorgeous woman in a suit waits for them with a big smile.
“Hello, ladies.”
“Uhm, hello m’am.” Says Sooyoung. “My name is Sooyoung”
Wendy hits her with her shoulder.
“Park Sooyoung” she adds.
“Oh, yes, that’s right! You ve got an interview in 5 minutes, right?”
“Yes! She,, she is my friend, Wendy. She came to support me, is it ok is she comes with me.. please?” pleads Sooyoung with her puppy eyes.
“Yes, of course. All of us need a back-up friend, an interview can be very stressful! Floor 35, Room 102. You have a changing room right next to it. You have the outfit you need to wear waiting for you there. Here is the key to the locker. Good luck!”
She sounded like a little machine at this point, together with her robotic smile. This made Sooyoung even more nervous. In the elevator, Wendy is adjusting her hair.
“Why are you even prepping yourself so much? Its not like you are the one being interviewed…”
“You said it yourself. In order to make a good impression, you need your friend to look just as good as you.” Says Wendy cockily.
“Ugh…” sighs Sooyoung as they get out of the elevator.
Everything is set and done. Sooyoung has changed into the interview outfit which was way less revealing than the one she had to wear for the previous interview for the other company. She felt relieved. This meant they are not some creeps like Yuk Hei. Wendy reassures Sooyoung by telling her she is gorgeous and that she will do well. She combed Sooyoung’s stunning slightly curled hair and now she looks like a princess. She is ready. But, is Wendy ready for what’s about to come?
“Hello.” Bows Sooyoung politely as she shyly enters Room 102.
She is greeted by 3 of the most beautiful males in the world. Sooyoung is feeling it again. She will stand in front of 3 males. 3 insanely gorgeous males. They looked like models for the biggest modelling company. She couldn’t believe her eyes that they were just some CEOs.
She is followed by Wendy who refuses to look at the table where the 3 men where standing. She greets them with a small bow and stands next to Sooyoung as she is introducing her as her friend and asks for permission if she can stay during the interview.
“Of course.”
She heard this voice, this so familiar voice. She finally gains courage and looks up at the table. There he was, the man she has been dreaming for 3 days now. The “forbidden” temptation. He had his hair pushed back now. His blonde hair was now sleeked back, leaving sight to his forehead. He was wearing a white shirt with rolled up sleeves, showing off his expensive Rollex. His accompanied friends weren’t any lower than him.
“You can take a seat next to us” kindly but intimidatingly says one of the others. “ My name is Dong Sicheng and I am the CEO of this company. I want to welcome you here first, and wish you luck. I wont be talking during this interview, I will let my mates do this.”
The CEO was definitely something else. A slender man, but very good-looking. All dressed in a black suit and a red tie. His auburn hair looked insanely sharp, as it was styled with care like it was the creation of God. He sure was intimidating. Standing there, not saying a word but analyzing every move with the attention of a tiger aiming for it’s prey.
“My name is Kim Doyoung. You may introduce yourself” said the last man of the 3.
She recognized him. Sooyoung. Sooyoung knew him. It was him. The man that saved her in the subway. The insanely kind and amazing guy that offered his phone to her. The tall and handsome male was looking at Sooyoung like he knew her. He recognized the girl and gave her a reassuring smile. She could read a warm “everything will be alright!” on his face, just like two nights ago. He looked just as sleek as that night. Suit, pushed back hair with a sense of gel in it.
Wendy quietly sat on the other side of their table, next to Doyoung, so that she wont have to sit next to Yuta. She felt followed. She didn’t know why but she had the impression he was looking at her. Even if she knew, its all in her panicked head. The males smelled absolutely heavenly. She felt like she was sitting among the angels.
Sooyoung was doing so well, she was showing off her amazing body in the most sensual ways and the males seemed to show now sign of “perversion” at her presentation. They seemed formal and professional. This boosted Sooyoung’s confidence even more, knowing she is not showing herself off to some “preditors”. Wendy smiled to Sooyoung the entire time, but she couldn’t help not stare at Yuta while he was focused on studying Sooyoung. Wendy analysed Yuta like the most surreal painting you find in a museum, trying to uncover his secrets. She wanted to know more. She wanted to know him. She needed to approach Yuta. But no. This is BAD BAD BAD.
Sooyoung was now done and the males sent her to the changing room to put back her casual clothes. Wendy was left alone with them. She felt like the minutes became hours. She was sweating so bad and the silence was a killer. Until one of them broke it and said “What do you think?”.
“Isnt it weird for us to talk about this next to her friend?” said the CEO, Sicheng, nonchalantly, like Wendy couldn’t hear them just perfectly.
“Don’t mind me… I can leav-“
“No, theres no problem.” Stopped Yuta.
She swore her heart fell to the ground and came back to her chest. It meant nothing to him, he was just being nice and a professional man, but yet, in her hopeful mind, she hoped that maybe he found the slightest interest in her.
The males were filling the room with their deep, rough voices as they were talking about Sooyoung. In the end, they decided to accept her. Wendy jumped off her seat unconscioudly and screamed a small “YES!”.
The males were staring at her blankly. Except for Yuta, who started smiling and broke the silence with a small laugh.
“You must be really happy for your best friend. Especially after what I heard happened to her. I am so sorry.” He said.
That was it. She felt like there was only him and her right now.
“Y-yes. She suffered a lot. You guys gave her a chance to be happy again and gain her own money, she is a very hard-working person, don’t worry about it!” added Wendy, trying to be as serious as she could.
Sooyoung entered the room and Wendy could read on her face that she was extremely anxious and nervous. She ran to hug her. This made Doyoung and Yuta smile a little. Sicheng looked at them and rolled his eyes. The man for sure was the most professional here and he was very stiff. He announced Sooyoung that she was accepted, gave her a timetable, a key to her new private locker and changing room and a list with all the phone numbers and the names of them and the models of their company. Wendy’s eyes widened when she saw Yuta’s number on that paper. But, she would never have the courage to ever use it… Would she?
Right after saying goodbye to them and before leaving, Yuta calls for Wendy.
“Hey, I just wanted to know, are you by any chance the girl that was at Yerim’s apartment when I came to take her? You seem familiar, that’s why.” Said Yuta while gathering the scattered papers from the desk.
“Yes. Its me. I also recognized you.” Says Wendy slightly awkwardly.
“Ah, that’s nice. So if im friends with Yeri, I guess we can be too… or?”
Wendy swore she felt like she was just asked to prom in the 7th grade by the cutest guy in the class. But they were two grown up adults. Yet he made her feel so comfortable, so childish around him.
She rushes a “Yes, yes! Of course!”.
“That is great” he shows a sweet smile. So sweet she feels her feet melt. His whole face took another meaning when he smiled. “Ask Yeri or Sooyoung for my number, if you ever need anything or just want to… you know, see eachtoher at a coffee or something.”
“Ah. Yes, sure!” she couldn’t think of anything smart to say. She was brainwashed.
They were now in Sooyoung’s car, on their way to Seulgi’s place where they all were planning to see eachother and celebrate Sooyoung’s new job. Wendy was looking on the window the whole way home. She was smiling. She was happy. She was feeling for this man something she hasn’t ever felt before for a man, and she had many meaningful relationships throughout her life. But never has she dreamt at a man the way she keeps thinking at this one. Next step: she had to know what Yerim truly feels for this man! She had to know if she has to erase him forever from her memory or if maybe she has a chance.
They got to Seulgi’s place where they were greeted with arms opened by all the girls. Even Irene seemed truly happy, she had a wide smile that the girls haven’t seen in so long.
“Soooo… HOW DO WE PARTY TONIGHTT??!!” jumps Yeri excitedly.
“Why don’t we go to the club?” proposes Seulgi. “I don’t really want to clean up over a party that we would hold at my place”.
“I would help you…” mumbles Irene.
“Shuut up! I want in a club!” protests Seulgi who seemed like a child who wants candies.
“I am alright with this!” says Wendy while staying on her phone, looking for clubs.
They all agreed in the end, more or less they had to drag Irene there. They were all getting ready and Yerim was in the bathroom doing her make-up since the whole bedroom was packed with the other girls. Wendy saw the perfect oprtunity. Now it’s the time. Now or never.
“Yerimie…” says Wendy shyly cracking the bathroom door open to make sure she wasn’t gona walk on to Yeri being naked or something.
“Yes, Wendy?”
“Hey…” she scratched the back of her neck. “You know… just a question…”
“Sure, what is it” says Yeri nonchalantly while applying lip gloss.
“I just wanted to ask you, you know, just from pure curiosity. How was that date with… what was his name..” she pretended to forget the name she has been having in mind all the time.
“Yuta. It was… nice I guess.”
“You guess?” she felt her heart skipping.
“Yeah. The guy is ok, very charming, handsome, well mannered, a real gentleman. But I don’t really wanna mess into a relationship with my photographer. It would be slightly weird and if we ever get to break up, I could never pose for him again, it would be awkward.”
“I see…”
“So yeah. But I am interested in keeping to see him. You know, as friends I guess. I don’t really know what else to say about him.”
“Aha… Alright then, I was thinking to take a shower before leaving, are you done with your make-up?”
“Yes, just now. You can have fun in the shower.” Says Yeri while smirking and patting Wendy on the shoulder.
This is exactly what she needed to do. Relax herself, make her lose her mind for a moment. She could lose her mind but he would still not leave it. Wendy enters the shower and pleases herself thinking about him, hoping that he does the same.
The girls are now all prepped and ready to go hit the biggest club in Seoul, Octagon. Any male that would see them now, would feel their boner kicking in. Five insanely hot girls, all dressed in leather skirts, dressed or pants, crop tops and high heels being the main star of their outfits. They looked like they were heading out for Seoul Fashion Week, not for a club night.
Little did they know was that tonight was about to be a night to remember, forever…

As Luck Would Have It
A Snowbaz Fic Genre: a lil mix of angst/fluff (i swear its more of fluff at the end) Word Count: 4k Summary: Simon Snow does not know how lucky he is.
~
She ran. she ran so much, so fast. Her knees were throbbing so severely, she was afraid they might disconnect from the rest of her limbs. It was like everything lost meaning, every definition and motive, all gone to her.
and this was her only purpose. this right here. The running and the escaping. and the tiny little ounce of hope she carried with her, like a narrow light beaming in her chest. still, at the back of her mind, there was always that voice, that damnable voice that reeked of fear.
That voice said "This is the part where it all ends in flames." She couldn't tell if it was her own voice. couldn't tell if it were his. She turned a corner and nearly tripped on the jagged rocks. Every breath seemed impossible, incoherent. Her head was pounding, aching. numb. her arms wanted to give in, to let go. she didn't allow anything of that sort.
She ran. She didn't know how. She didn't know how it was possible. Her magic could be carrying her every step with some abstract energy, maybe. thats possible right? The last tendrils of her magic, at least, because she was so certain she gave all of it away.
Trees were fading past her, the ground tumbled beneath her. She did not think about the man chasing after her, did not think of the bare future laid before her. she did not think of anything else besides the baby in her arms. He wailed, a heavy shrieking noise. his tiny arms were reaching for her face, fists unclenching, clenching. reaching, always reaching.
She would never let go. she didn't allow anything of that sort.
this promise would carry her in her solemn grave. This promise, she thought, is the only thing that could keep my son alive.
And maybe this was why she ran.
-
"Simon, Im home."
Simon sprang to the living room, all giddy and vivacious ecstasy radiating off of him. He's smiling that amiable smile of his.
Baz raised an eyebrow. "What?" Despite himself, he mirrored simon’s smile, that same easy and lively light aglow in both their faces. still, Baz felt his face linger in bemusement.
And still, simon wouldn’t say a thing except high squeals, tugging on Baz's sleeve like a five year old. Baz didn't mind. “Alright, Simon, whats going on?”
Simon then fished for something in his jeans pocket, retrieving what seems like a plain white sheet of folded paper. He passed it to Baz with excited hands. Baz took the sheet of paper with a confused glance. He gently unfolded it.
July 19, 2017
Dear Simon Snow,
We are pleased to notify you that, of the many proposals we received, we have selected your portrait ‘petite étoile’ , Your response to the RFP issued by Cambridge Art Association stood head and shoulders above the rest. We are looking forward to moving forward with the installation.
Thank you.
Baz blinked at the words. He read it again just to make sure. and again. He looked at Simon.
Simon, seeing the stupefy and awed expression in his boyfriends face, squealed, “I KNOW!” Baz hugged him in response, smoothing out his bronze curls, kissing his forehead, taking his face on both his hands and nuzzling his nose with his because he's a fucking tragedy when it comes to Simon Snow and both of them know it. “I knew you could do it.” he whispers, wiping the tears off Simons face.
They felt each others smiles radiate of their lips in smooth, lethargic bliss.
“we should throw a fucking party.” Baz announces.
“you don’t have to do that-“
“shut up, Simon.”
he already had his phone in his hand, calling penny’s cell. “We are celebrating the shit out of this letter.” Baz held the phone by his ear as he took his boyfriend by the waist. Simon leaned his head against his shoulder in response, breathing him in. Baz smelled explicitly of Cedar and Bergamot today.
“Hello? Penny? Guess who received an acceptance letter!?”
He could feel Baz’s piercing smile in those words. Simon laughed in response.
-
She didn’t know it was going to end like this. or maybe she did. maybe she did all along and denied it. She knocked on the cottage door twice. she was sure she lost him. he probably tripped over some twig and lost her tracks. maybe. hopefully. A nervous energy filled her veins as she continued to rasp at the door until an old women by the age of 50 opened it.
“Hello,” She greeted.
The old woman continued to stare, bored.
She shifted her arms so she could adjust herself to the weight of her baby, holding him close.
The woman still continued in silence.
“M-may we please stay here for awhile? We don’t exactly have anywhere else to go.” She could feel her teeth clatter in hunger. or fear. Fear, she thought. Its always fear.
Finally, the woman made the smallest gesture of glancing at her baby. the next thing she knew it, a closed door appeared in her face, inches away from the peak of her pale freckled nose.
A sob escaped her as she continued walking off into the distance, the wail of her baby traveling with her in a soothing presence.
She was sure she lost him. maybe. hopefully.
-
Its times like this when Simon Snow wakes up at 12:00am.
Times like this when he wakes to the sensation of arms around his waist. a body instead of space beside him.
He wakes, sullen and drowsy. patches of blue and silver moonlight teem down the window panes. His eyes travel to where Baz’s head lays down in the cushions, peaceful and quiet.
It was just 5 weeks into their relationship when Baz presented the thought of moving in with Simon and Penny just days ago. Penny, god bless her, approved. Of course Simon approved as well. Hell, he may as well rent a place of their own if he could.
It wasn’t official or any of that sort. But he knew they’d make it through that point.
They made it through watford, anyway. If they could make it through that, Simon’s pretty sure they’ll make it through anything.
He continued to gaze upon Baz’s sleeping figure.
“you know what would be a great idea?” Baz had said just the day before.”you could paint portraits. paintings. Just for a change.”
Simon scoffed. they laid in the couch. He was busy sketching some pieces he thought of that day, cross legged beside Baz, who was reading a thick pretentious novel.
“Nice one Baz,”
“Well, no offence love, but you sulking around all day with nothing else better to do is an image we’re all tired of”
He shrugged in response.
“So what if i’ll start painting and make pointless portraits? What could i make of it? what would change anyway?”
“well for instance,” Baz glanced at Simon’s sketchpad, a grin plastered on his face. he returned back to his novel. “Change is happening right now, Snow.”
Simon shifted in their bedsheets. he wrapped his arms around the sleeping boy beside him.
He’ll start painting tomorrow.
-
As luck would have it, She turned to the right direction after all. Now all she has to do is wait for a car ride. The street before her laid bare and remote, as if no venichle has passed by since god knows how long.
The baby she held in her arms grew silent and still. she looked at him, tracing a forefinger over his smooth rosy cheek. Her finger traveled down to his neck, where a tiny, indistinct mole lays there.
His eyes were closed in tranquillised sleep, not a single worry or doubt in the world in those closed lids. She smoothed out his blanket, tugging it this way and that.
It wasn’t far long ti'll she grew helplessly weary. She settled herself on the edge of the curb, waiting for a miracle. Her knees felt like heavy rocks dragging her body down, and she couldn’t help but think of herself as a statue, numb everywhere, inside and out and at this point it was a marvel she could speak, a miracle she could so much as utter a single word.
Her stomach growled. It was only when she pursed her dry sandpaper lips did she noticed how thirsty she was.
She looked at the baby in her arms, still asleep. Somehow, she held tighter.
in that sweet, lullaby voice of hers, she cooed, “I’m going to love you so much, no girl would ever be good enough for you.”
“But I do believe a girls going to love you so much. or boy. I wouldn’t care. As long as you love them and as long as they love you back just as much.” she reconsidered. “i’ll still love you the most though.”
she nuzzled her nose in her baby's neck. He smelled of smoke. Smoke and brunt trees. He smelled like everything she thought he would smell like. “I’ll always love you.”
“And if by some larger force separates us,”
she wrapped his tiny fist with her single finger. she squeezed. he squeezed back.
“Then know that i’m always with you okay? know that i’m with you no matter what and nothing could change that. nothing.”
The baby opened his blue eyes and as he did, a Camero’s headlights were headed their way. Lucy jumped, standing up, balancing herself. The sudden movement made the baby wail.
then she saw the plate number.
Dread filled her system like a slow, creeping snake.
Oh god.
But it was too late to start running.
-
Baz knocked on Simon's door again. And again. No answer. Only the sound of Simon's obvious sobs, sobs he tired desperately to hide then. It was useless to keep them in, anyway. "Simon," He didn’t know what he could possibly say. Assure him everything is okay? Tell him he'll move on? Tell him lies, lies they both know would do nothing, nothing but display themselves ostentasiouly in the air once they’ve been said.
Baz was not one for lying. So he told him the truth.
"This isn't okay. Your magic will never come back and we can't do anything about that." Inside the room, Simon grew deathly silent. From the living room, Penny shot him a treacherous glare that says what the fuck are you doing. Her eyes were gigantic plates and really, it was a marvel how she could manage to do that to her eyes. Still, Baz continued. "The mage is dead. Holes were made and holes were filled." no response from inside the room.
"Simon, love." Baz was surprised when he heard a choking sound leave his lips. Even Penny grew silent for once. He tried his best to carry his now trembling voice,
"You want the truth? Thats the truth. The truth is your the most alive being in the whole damn world. The truth is with your magic, you were fucking untouchable and I was scared Simon. You were the sun and i was crashing into you and the world revolved around you and it was like i couldn't even reach you, it was like everything depended on you and i couldn't possibly give you the satisfaction of knowing that i depended on you too. You were on the other side of the galaxy and you were so far away. The truth was i was so bloody scared Simon. The truth is with your magic, we would have never met in the middle." He laughed at that probable thought. "There was no fucking way."
Silence.
"Simon," Maybe he said enough? Maybe words were enough. it didn't feel enough for Baz though.
Simon's own words were still echoing in his head, words that nearly shot him dead at the spot, words that were so untrue, words said with sharpened tips -- "I don't feel alive Baz! I was alive with my magic! I'm nothing without it and theres no fucking point to all this a-and I --" Simon wiped his eyes then. "I just want to feel fucking alive again!" That was when he stormed to his room and shut his door, locking it with heavy breaths and trembling shoulders, looking for all the world like a precarious, fragile thing.
Baz softly says -- though not that softly so Simon could hear him through the door -- "Your so alive Simon Snow."
He thought he heard the door click. He goes on, "You got my share of it."
Before he could even blink, Simon’s pink swollen lips collided with his and at that moment it was as if words didn't matter. As if they never did.
-
"You can't just take him!" Lucy Salisbury was desperate, yes, though she was also many things indeed. Angry. Furious. Confused. Determined. But Davy didn't see any of this. Davy didn't need to see any of this. He's seen it a thousand times before, has seen desperation claw at peoples stomachs with hunger and the need to devour. He's felt it a thousand times too, but now looking at Simon, looking at his blue eyes...maybe he finally completed it. Maybe he actually finally did it.
The chosen one. Davy laughed. Its still hard to believe, even after all these months of waiting.
"Give me my baby back you bastard!" Lucy screamed. She was pulled back, carried away by Davy's men. She didn't even know he had men. "Simon isn't yours to take!" Sobs were leaving her like drool and she reached out with her arms towards her baby, she willed herself to reach out to Simon, and maybe she was close, maybe she wasn’t, but all she remembered was a blade, a sharp blade, a sharp and silver blade in Davy’s hands and she thought --
No. He wouldn't.
He thrusted the blade into Lucy's abdomen.
And thank god it wasn't her baby’s abdomen. She thought for a second there…
But then the last thing ringing in her mind was the fundamental issue of Simon.
Because even without that dagger in her boy's stomach, she had that nauseating feeling that he wasn’t safe with Davy, blade or no blade.
This was the last thought she could think of before The Mage willed the blade to go in for the kill.
Simon cried all the way to the Camaro, where the Mage cooed and cradled him as if he were a loving father who'd never let go of his son.
-
Baz was told he would have to end him in some way. Kill him. Maybe he could bite him, savour every drop of blood the notorious Chosen One has. He could place him in a stake. Burn him. Maybe he would do the classic blade in the chest move, or a spell powerful enough to end him.
He was told he would have to end Simon Snow in some way. People have been telling him this since he was five years old, small enough to walk, but also small enough to follow what the adults say, no matter what that thing is, even if it meant theft or murder.
as a result of this, he followed his instructions to kill the chosen one without question, followed it like a manual or a booklet. He kept it to heart and practised his spells to complete and utter perfection by the time he turned eight.
Because maybe then he could avenge his mother. Maybe then she'd come back to him.
then, of course, the crucible paired Simon Snow and Basil Pitch together and that was when it all went downhill from there.
It was summer. The second year of watford came to a bittersweet closure. All was well. The family was doing good, everyone was healthy. The air in the dining room was alive with conversation with sparks of laughter here and there. Champagne glasses were being passed around like a game of hot potato and the chandeliers were sparkly and glistening, crystal and divine even amidst the sullen, medieval and almost melancholy structure of the Pitch's mansion.
He didn't know when the conversation started, didn't know when or how it turned to that direction, but the one thing he heard that day that got his attention was when his aunt, Fiona announced, "Simon Snow isn't human."
The fuck? Fourteen year old Baz raised an eyebrow. Perhaps joining one of these adult conversations would be a little fun. "Why do you say that?"
All Grimm-Pitch eyes turned to him expectedly, as if Baz had something imposing to offer them. Fiona smiled that devil smile of her's. "He was brought by the Mage. Everyone knows anything brought by that tyrant isn't natural." She took a agonisingly long sip of her red wine -- she didn't care for champagne -- and pursed her lips in an effort to retrieve the sweet and bitter aftertaste. With a feline grace she placed her glass back down on its coaster.
Baz picked up his fork, thinking that that was the end of a lovely exchange of words, but when Fiona cleared her throat and faced towards him, he had the obvious sense that she was just getting started.
"Simon Snow is a weapon, Basil. Name me one hero who wasn't built for a single, certain purpose." Baz didn't bother answering. Just get to the point, he wanted to spit out.
"Exactly. After Simon completes that purpose, after he's done saving the world of mages, lord knows what would happen next. A few celebrations, sure. Maybe even some cake and confetti. Then what? That's the only thing separating us from heroes, Baz. They're granted with a life purpose, we aren't. We live ambiguously, they don't. We have choices. Everything around us is a life choice. We get to be anything we will ourselves to be. But for people like Simon Snow?" She turned her head and grabbed her spoon, turning her ice cream around her glass like stew. "He's a weapon. He'll always be a weapon. Nothing will change that."
But if you could be anything, Baz thought. If you could be anything, then why do i feel like i have no other choice but to become the villain?
-
He almost felt bad for him. Almost. Besides, he was doing this for the greater good, so there was nothing to feel bad for, nothing to worry about.
He could have had a childhood. This was Lucy’s voice. Or was it his own? You could have given him that. He could have been a normal mage with likes and dislikes. A normal boy who plays soccer, who plays in the rain and jumps in rain puddles. You had the power to do that. You could have presented that boy with choices.
The Mage dismissed this voice. Simon wasn’t normal. Simon was the Chosen One. Who wouldn’t want to be the hero of their own story?
He was sure he left Simon here. Shame, maybe he could have placed him down in some other care home. Out of all the care homes it had to be the one with walls so old its ugly orange paint was peeling off around the corners. He could see mold around the space where the walls met its roof.
The mage wrinkled his nose in disgust. It is possible that Simon may have learned the value of simplicity at least. Staying humble and all that. Though none of those trivial values mattered now.
He went through the Chosen One’s schedule for the next week, listing off all the essential bits and all the least important ones. He’s going to need training. He’s going to need lots of training. And supervision. Perhaps he could be there for Simon ti’ll he gets the hang of the whole Chosen One business.
He’s already planned it all. He’ll give Simon his wand — and what a powerful, experienced wand it is — and he could show him some tricks. He would give him special classes, explicitly for him.
Next thing he’ll know it, he’ll be the saviour. The hero. He’ll be the Chosen One and save the whole world of mages. That is the hope anyway.
Though people like Davy don’t rely on hope. People like Davy call hope goals. They call goals objectives. People like davy see these objectives as check boxes ticked off by the second.
So he adjusted his suit jacket. Looking over his shoulder, he gestured over to one of his men to come close. “Make sure Simon gets in the camaro once he gets out.” The gentleman nodded in response.
History was in the making since the time Davy was in watford. Today, history is about to change.
-
Her mom told her that Simon Snow was dangerous. Everyone tells her Simon Snow is dangerous. Soon, as Penelope Bunce has come to learn, she noticed everyones been telling her lots of things about the Chosen One. They tell her to be careful. To never go near him by the time she would enter Watford. They tell her that he is the most powerful mage to ever walk, and that his magic isn’t normal, that it isn’t contained. That he is a monster. One night, when she and her brother were trading ghost stories by the fireplace, he told her the story of the Chosen One and how he was sent by demons. She tried so very hard not to roll her eyes.
The point was, Simon Snow came off as many things. Maybe it was because of her stubbornness, maybe it was because of how insistent she was on proving to everyone that Simon Snow was not what everyone declared him to be, or perhaps it was simply because she was intrigued of Simon even before she met him. Maybe these were all valid reasons as to why Penelope befriended him on the first day of watford, despite her family’s warning.
Thinking back to the past events, to every word her relatives have said about her friend, every lie and rumour, she couldn’t help but smile. She smiled because she knew she was right once again and that the rest were wrong: Simon Snow is not a monster. She didn’t think he ever was.
They’re seated across from each other on the breakfast table. It was their fourth day here in Watford, and Penny was pleased to find out that she was already leading top of the class. Well, that is, if it weren’t for Baz Pitch, maybe she really would have been top of the class and not fall on second. Second sucks. According to Simon, Baz sucks as well. (It turns out not a day away goes by without Simon mentioning his roommate. Penny tries her best to stay inquisitive throughout these discussions with her friend, but most days the whole conversation gets too tedious.)
Speaking of discussions, she wanted to lead today’s conversation towards a direction — literally any direction — that has nothing to do with Simon’s roommate, so before he even gets the chance to open his mouth, Penny says “You know, i’ve heard a lot of things about you. Even before I came to Watford.”
Simon stared. This was an indication enough for Penny to continue. “Like how your the Chosen One and all that.”
The boy swallowed his cherry scone and almost as swiftly grabs another one. “Yeah, well, I am the Chosen one, so that figures.”
Penny thought for awhile. “Why are you the chosen one though? Out of everyone?”
“Because of my magic?”
“how’d you get so much magic in the first place then? Your magic has to come from somewhere. Why would your parents leave you when they knew how much magic you contained?” She stopped herself from asking further questions. “Gosh, Simon I’m sorry. Was that too much?”
Simon kept his eyes plastered on the cherry scone in his hands. His eyes betrayed no emotion. “Thats fine Penny. I’m sure they had a reason though.” His voice sounded positive despite the subject of discussion, and that was the exact moment Penny knew this boy was nothing close to a monster.
Simon Snow is just a boy. A boy with as many questions as she has.
“Sometimes i like to think that my mom was a teacher. A really nice teacher who gives blueberry muffins to children who answer things correctly?” Simon dropped his scone, and the mere sight was a wonder to Penny’s two eyes. She decided it was best to encourage the conversation. “What would your dad be?”
“He’d be a football player. Like as in, celebrity football player. He’s the one who wins all the trophy’s, that one player the team couldn’t win without. He’d be riding in a limo and everything and there would be light shining everywhere from the paparazzi.” He smiled, thinking of these concepts.
He knew it would do him no good to think of these things. But no one told him he couldn’t pretend. No one said pretending was bad.
So he pretended. He pretended he was loved. He pretended he was wanted and cherished. He pretended he had a mom and a dad and a life.
The next thing Simon feels is a hand on-top his shoulder. Looking back he see’s the Mage in all his glory. “Simon, we’ve got work to do.” He had sounded so official, so down to the point. He also sounded like a leader, and the mage certainly dressed like it.
Simon stood up.
It was evident to Penelope that Simon wanted to be like the mage someday. She saw it in the way he looked at him, like the mage was some kind of statue he needed to replicate. As if the mage was the only person in the room who mattered to Simon.
Like he was the only person who bothered to care.
Simon left without question, leaving Penny looking dumbfounded and surprised.
She knew that Simon Snow was just a boy, yes. What she does not know is if everyone could see that as well. Soon, she found herself hoping the mage out of all people could see that.
Soon, she found herself by Simon’s side the next year, and the year after that, then the next year until her family had grown used of him, until they considered him family.
Soon, she discovered that Simon no longer had one person in his life who cared.
Then when Baz Pitch strides by, when she catches the way Baz glances at his roommate or the small moments like the way he sneers at him…it turns out she wasn’t the only one who cared.
-
They're seated in the dinning room and Penny can't handle it anymore. "Alright assholes tell you what, how bout i cook some fucking chicken and a steak. How bout that?"
Baz snorted. "Theres no way you could do both. Besides, if someone wouldn't be picky -- "
"Try me Picth i dare you."
"uh, language."
Both Baz and Penny stare at the boy cradling himself on the chair. Penny glared. "Excuse me?"
“Well, you kept swearing, its bad for the baby."
"well don't you think its a little too late to—“ Penny stopped in her train of thought.
Now its Baz's turn to glare. He raised an eyebrow and politely, sarcastically asks, "What baby, Snow?"
Simon smirked. "Im the baby, idiot. Hell if either of us could conceive don't you think we'd be having a family of sixteen right --"
Baz threw a spoon at his husbands face to shut him up, rolling his eyes in the process. "Your a disgust, Snow. And also I saw that post about the whole baby shenanigan joke in tumblr, so don't think your so special."
He was surprised when he saw the look of hurt across Simon's face. He was even more surprised when that hurt looked genuine. "Jesus stop pouting -"
Penny cuts Baz off: "You have a tumblr?" Simon's eyes immediately perked up at that concept. Baz could tell tonight was going be a very long, very agonising night.
“Im sorry, my mind just can’t wrap around the idea of you having a tumblr.” Penny joked, one hand on her hip and the other leaning against the kitchen counter.
Simon looked to Penny. “I bet he has a username like CountBasilton360.” She laughed at that thought. “No, no, no I bet he named himself BazzieTheVampireSlayer and has a profile picture of Drarry Fanart!”
Baz stood up in the middle of all the laughter and the chaos and gladly excused himself to his and Simon’s room. He silently grabs his laptop to change his profile picture.
-
The veil is getting thinner by the second. I don't know if i could reach you -- but i did it before. I could do it again.
it's funny, last time i reached out towards you Davy stabbed me with a dagger. Theres no dagger this time, Simon. I'm safe here. My only wish is for you to be safe there.
So i tear open the Veil -- i could handle the consequences after.
As luck would have it, you look happy. I see you seated in the dinning table with Natasha's boy. I notice identical rings in both your ring fingers, and i shouldn't be crying, but i cry anyway.
Oh, Simon.
Everything revolved around you. Chances are you wouldn't have made it. But you look so happy … your smiling and your so bright and vibrant.
I’ll love you the most, Simon. I’ll always love you the most.
I wasn’t there to prove it —
but I’m sure they will.
The last image i get from you is you laughing with your eyes closed, arms around your stomach.
And I’m sure your the most alive I have ever seen you.
For once in my entire life, I stop fighting the veil and I let its cool breeze devour me.

The Sky & The Sea
Pairing: Jercy
Word count: 2820
Characters: Percy Jackson, Jason Grace, Nico di Angelo, Will Solace, Piper McLean, Zeus, Poseidon. Mentioned: Lou Ellen, Leo Valdez, Kayla.
Rating: G
Percy was worried sick. Jason had went on a quest along with Nico and Piper. They were supposed to get back two days ago but they hadn't. He had asked Chiron for a quest to find them but the centaur denied, saying it would be too dangerous for Jason to go by himself. Percy was furious because three of the closest people to him are missing. He knew he couldn't take Blackjack because he had no idea where they were. He had tried Iris Messages but they wouldn't work. He was so close to losing his mind.
"Percy!"
Said boy turned around and saw Jason limping towards him with a wide grin. Percy was immediately relived. He saw Nico and Piper in the back walking towards the infirmary. They worry came back when he saw Jason's swollen ankle - it was twisted weirdly - and cut in his arm.
"What happened? Did you get attacked? Why didn't go straight to Will? You need to get those treated. How the Hades are you walking? Jason!"
Jason chuckled. "I'm fine. Just twisted it."
"No, you aren't. And it's broken." He slipped Jason's arm over his shoulder and his own arm around the other waist. "I have no fucking idea how you're walking. Look at it!"
"Perce, I'm fine."
"Shut up." Percy snapped. "I've been worried sick for over two days. When you were supposed to come back. IM's weren't working. I even asked Chiron for a quest to find you and he said no. So just shut up and let me worry."
They reached the infirmary where the Apollo kids quickly took care of the three injured demigods. Percy sat in a corner, shoulders slumped. Piper smiled at him as she got her leg bandaged. Nico had a gash on his torso that looked deep.
Now Percy was worried for Nico as well. "What happened?" He asked to no one in particular.
"We got attacked." Nico winced as Will worked on his gash. He glared at his boyfriend who ignored him. "It was a Chimera. Piper charmspoke. Jason struck it with lighting and then I made a hole on the ground and it was gone."
"Then there were empousai." Piper continued. Percy shuddered. He hated those. "We were outnumbered but then Mrs. O'Leary came to help."
"How are you so badly wounded?" Percy frowned.
"We haven't finished." Jason sighed and winced as Will squeezed his ankle with a frown after finishing with Nico. Kayla was bandaging Nico up. "We came across a gorgon. I don't know which one it was but it was annoying." He screamed as Will clicked his ankle in place.
Everyone winced. Lou Ellen started to dab Jason's forehead with a cold cloth. She looked at Percy who nodded. He took the cloth as Lou scurried off to help Kayla. Jason sighed pressing the cloth against Jason's forehead. Percy grabbed Jason's hand and squeezed. Sweat rolled down Jason's forehead. He looked pale from exhaustion.
"You two," said Will pointing to Jason and Nico, "are going to stay for a few days. Doctors orders." He stated firmly when Nico looked close to protesting. "You're free, Piper. Just try not to force it much."
She grinned at him and waved as she left.
Percy raised an eyebrow. "I thought you said you were going to work things out," he said to Jason.
"We did. Decided to stay friends." Jason mumbled. "Months ago."
Will fed Jason some ambrosia and a little bit of nectar. The son of Jupiter fell asleep minutes later. Percy sighed and let go of Jason's hand reluctantly. He stayed by Jason's bed until Will kicked him out.
"Can I stay the night? Please, Will? I could help around." Percy pleaded, baby seal eyes strong.
Will sighed. "Fine. But you need to shower and bring Jason a bag with his things."
Percy nodded and did as told. Half an hour later, he was settling in the bed next to Jason. Will had taken residence on the one next to Nico who looked mildly annoyed at Will fussing over him because "you can't just leave with a wound like that, Nicolas." "That's not even my name!"
Percy skipped dinner and Will scolded him for it. Eventually, the son of Apollo brought him and Nico plates full of food. Jason was still passed out.
"I'm surprised you didn't shadow travel here." Percy said as he and Nico ate.
"Oh, I did." The son of Hades mumbled. "But I didn't pass out."
Percy snorted and continued eating. He set his plate aside and lied on the bed on his side. He stared at Jason's complexion without shame. He and Percy weren't exactly exclusive but they didn't mess around with other people. They were un-exclusively exclusive.
Percy reached and traced his hand over Jason's. He wished he could fit in the bed next to him but he didn't. He'd thought about squeezing in but he didn't want to make Jason uncomfortable. Jason slowly opened his eyes and Percy retreated his hand.
"Jay?" He quickly sat up with a frown.
"Hey, Perce." He smiled and passed a hand over his face. "How long was a I asleep?"
"A couple of hours." Percy said sitting on the space left on the bed. "How are you feeling? Need anything?"
"Water, please."
Percy fetched Jason a glass of water which he downed in two gulps. "Thanks." He murmured. "Are you alright? Your eyebrows are doing the thing when you think too hard."
Percy frowned. "I was just worried. I'm just glad you're okay."
Jason smiled weakly and reached for Percy's hand. He stroked his thumb over it and kissed it softly. Jason was such a complete contrast to Percy it hurt him. Percy was reckless and barely obeyed the rules. He was sarcastic and acted completely on impulse. He would tear down whatever was in his way to keep his loved ones safe. He spoke his mind freely not caring about the consequences. Jason on the other hand thought things through and followed the rules. Being a Roman did that to you. He was a little soft and was sometimes hurt by Percy's lack of filter. He thought things through before saying them, not wanting to hurt the other person or say the wrong thing.
"Relax, Jackson. I'll be fine."
"Shut up, Grace." Percy said with no bite. "I still don't know how the Hades you were walking with your foot like that."
"Adrenaline. I just wanted to see you first."
Percy smiled fondly. "Next time come here first, please." He kissed Jason's forehead.
"I will." Jason grinned and Percy rolled his eyes.
"Liar."
The blue eyed demigod snickered. "Why don't you join me?" He scooted over and made space for Percy who looked unsure. "It'll be fine." He patted the spot and Percy lied down, arm around Jason's waist hugging him close.
"Don't scare me like that again." He whispered against Jason's neck. "You've done that enough for a lifetime."
"I won't." Jason cushioned Percy's head with his arm and wrapped the other around his waist. "I can feel Nico and Will staring holes into my back." He mumbled half asleep.
"Let them. I don't care." Percy murmured and leaned up to peck Jason's chin and then his lips. He lingered there and rubbed his thumb over Jason's bottom lip. "I missed you. You were gone for a month with no communication and I-" he swallowed the lump in his throat. "I was so worried. For all of you." He was slowly opening up with Jason. The first thing they established was communication so Percy was letting his feelings out. Especially if it had to do with nightmares.
"Percy."
"I know you can take care of yourselves but I still worry. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it." He whimpered.
"We're fine." Jason kissed the pad of Percy's thumb affectionately. "I'm here. I'm okay."
"You better be or I would've gone down to the Underworld to kick your dead ass."
Jason snorted. "You're an idiot."
"Thanks, Blondie. I try." Percy said dryly. "Just cuddle me."
Jason wasn't one to object.
***
When Jason was healed, everything went back to normal. He was still pontifix maximus, so he went from camp to camp building the shrines. He trained and taught the new campers how to fight and defend themselves. He often did demonstrations with Percy who played dirty. The son of Poseidon would grin triumphantly whenever he had Jason at his mercy.
He spent his afternoons with Percy watching the sun set as they sat on the beach. They would sit around the campfire and sing along with the other campers. They'd roast marshmallows and 'feed' each other. (They ended making a mess on each other's faces.) They'd kiss each other goodnight and good morning. Many campers were shocked - no pun intended - when they started doing this constantly and showed affection openly. Mostly the Athena cabin because they thought Percy wasn't over Annabeth yet.
Everything was going fine until Jason suddenly disappeared.
Percy was desperately looking for him. He hadn't slept in days searching for his lover to no avail.
"Have you checked on Camp Jupiter?" Annabeth asked. "He probably went there."
"He wouldn't leave like that. Without telling anyone." Percy protested. "He never does that. Chiron! Do you know anything?" Percy was desperate for any information on Jason.
"I'm afraid not." Chiron said.
Percy hung his head, shoulders shaking with silent sobs. Annabeth hugged her best friend tightly. "Come on, Seaweed Brain. You need some rest." She guided Percy to the Poseidon cabin where he lied down in the bed with Jason's shirt close to him. "We'll find him." Annabeth ran her hands through his thick, dark hair until he was asleep, drooling away. She sighed and left the cabin to keep looking for clues and answers.
Meanwhile in Olympus, Jason and Zeus were having a heated argument. Jason doesn't know how long he's been arguing with his father, all he knows is that he's exhausted of arguing with deaf ears.
"Not Poseidon's brat!" Zeus argued. "He's no good! You are not loyal to your father. You weren't supposed to befriend him! You were supposed to fight him!"
"Don't lecture me about loyalty!" Jason argued back. "He's my best friend and lover and he's the greatest person I've met and he's saved Olympus twice and I don't care what you say it won't change my mind! I will not fight him."
Thunder rumbled as Zeus stood but Jason didn't flinch. His eyes were as hard as steel, hands clenched by his side. He was breathing heavily and was slightly pale.
"He's a hero and he will go down in history just like the first Perseus."
The door to the throne room burst open and Jason couldn't be more shocked to see Percy and Poseidon.
"Jason." Percy exhaled, shoulders slumped in relief. He hugged the blond tightly. "Oh, my gods. I'm so relieved you're okay."
"Uh, Perce." Jason said letting go of Percy. "How long was I gone?"
"A week, you sack of-"
Someone cleared their throat and they turned their heads to their fathers who were looking serious. Poseidon was more passive than Zeus whom had a murderous look on his face. Poseidon turned to his brother.
"Tell me, brother." He said the word venomously. "Why are you making such a big deal out of nothing."
"Nothing?" Zeus grit out. "You call this nothing?!"
"Well, all I see are our sons in a relationship. Nothing wrong with that." He turned to look at the half-bloods. "Go back to camp. I'll deal with him."
"Thank you, Lord Poseidon." Jason said with a nod of his head. "Father." He spat out and dragged Percy out who waved at his father, a smile on his face.
"Slow down, Jase." Percy huffed and made him stop. "You've been gone for a week. Just-"
Percy didn't finish his sentence as Jason pressed their lips together. Percy felt like goo as Jason cupped his cheek softly.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know I was gone for so long. It only felt like hours." Jason apologised, rubbing his thumbs over Percy's sharp cheekbones.
"I was so worried something happened to you." Percy said softly but then his look turned steely. "Why the Hades didn't you tell me anything?!" He pushed Jason away. "No one knew where you were and we had been searching for you day and night! Nico was shadow travelling to the point of exhaustion looking for you!"
"I'm sorry! I didn't come here because I wanted to! I went to the cabin and the next thing I know, I'm here! I swear, Percy. I wouldn't want to scare you just because." The blond took Percy's hands and kissed his knuckles. "Let's get to camp."
Nico and Will were the ones to receive them. It surprised Jason when the son of Hades hugged him. It didn't surprise him when Nico punched his solar plexus, leaving him gasping for air.
"You imbecile!" He exclaimed angrily. "You worried everyone! Do you know how many sleepless nights we've had! I want to kill you!"
Will smiled sheepishly as he tugged Nico away. "Glad to know you're okay!" Will smiled. "Need a checkup or something?"
"No, I'm good." Jason said and tugged Percy along as Will pulled Nico away who was cursing in Italian.
Percy chuckled and tugged in Jason's hand to get his attention. "You should go see the others. They were worried about you."
"Aren't you coming with?" Jason frowned.
Percy shook his head. "I have a couple of things to sort out. I'll see you at dinner." He kissed Jason and disappeared into armoury.
Jason did as told and searched for Piper and Leo first. They were in Bunker 9 looking gloomy.
"Miss me?"
"Jason!" They exclaimed and tackled their friend.
Jason hugged them closely, a wide grin on his face. He was glad to be back.
***
Just as Percy said, Jason saw him at dinner. They weren't supposed to sit together but sitting alone during a meal wasn't fun. And since Nico had a "doctors note" Chiron didn't say anything.
"What were you doing?" Jason asked after they scraped off a portion of their meal into the hearth.
"Running a few errands for Chiron." Percy said. "I was training a few new campers and then did a demonstration with Clarisse."
Jason hummed. "Do you think we could… skip the campfire tonight? I just want a bit of peace and quiet."
Percy smiled at him. "Of course."
After finishing dinner, they walked towards the beach hand in hand. They didn't need to say anything as they spread out a blanket on the sand and lied down. After a while, they started to point out constellations. Jason grimaced as Percy pointed out Hercules. The son of Poseidon laughed as Jason said his half brother was a "dickhead, who needs to get his head out of his ass."
"Easy. Don't want him cursing you or anything." Percy laughed.
Jason scoffed. "He's stuck on that island. Not much he can do." He lied on his side, getting comfortable without making his glasses go askew. It was a real struggle at times. He openly stared at Percy who was staring at the sky. Jason raised an arm and caressed Percy's cheek with the tip of his pointer finger.
"Stop. It tickles." Percy murmured squirming a little. He grasped Jason's hand and playfully bit his finger.
Jason yelped and glared at him. He decided to take his glasses off and lie his head on Percy's chest. He curled around the son of Poseidon like an overgrown puppy.
"Gods. You're worse than Mrs. O'Leary." Percy grunted.
"I take offence to that." Jason grumbled.
Percy chuckled and winced as he heard the screeching of the harpies. They looked at each other with wide eyes.
"Shit."
They scrambled to their feet and narrowly avoided being spotted as they hurried to the cabins. They hastily made it to the Poseidon cabin and slipped inside. Percy shut the door, chest heaving in laughter.
"That was fucking close." He laughed and went to the bathroom. When he walked out, Jason was lying comfortably on his bed. "Are those mine?"
Jason looked down at the pajama pants he was wearing. "Obviously. It's your cabin."
Percy rolled his sea-green eyes and changed into pajama pants as well before slipping in beside Jason. The latter curled around Percy once again, pressing his front against Percy's back.
"Good night, Perce." He murmured, lips pressed against Percy's neck.
"Night, Jay." Percy took Jason's hand and squeezed it before falling asleep with Jason's warm breath against his neck.
They got a scolding from Chiron the next morning but neither regretted it. Percy had never slept more peacefully since before Tartarus and Jason didn't feel like he was being watched in the Zeus cabin.
It was the best nights sleep after all.
