I forgot I spent my january catching up on the liehuo AD hhh but the liehuo AD theme song goes so hard that they let it carry all three seasons of the AD for good reason. plus the voice actor version is lovely; I wasn't expecting weiyi to option UP at the end but he did and it's great!

all season twos, huh. I was surprised that 《全链》 and 《幸存者偏差》 weren't on here given how many times I relistened to individual episodes (esp. for 《幸存者偏差》, I relistened to the werewolf arc and the casino arc three times each because I simply could not keep up with the plot). that being said, these three have some of the best post-production I've ever heard on the platform, which is probably not a coincidence lsdkfldksfj. jingfeng s2上 deserves its spot for sure because I'm pretty sure I turned around and immediately went through it again after finishing it the first time. 小白六 you will always be a legend

I did work through all four seasons of c2p earlier this year, as well as finishing off season 4 of 《地球上线》, so this checks out! I don't think the 年度报告 includes 免费剧 though or else I'm pretty sure liang dawei and 顺子 would be tied (if we included 《你就当我死了吧》, I'm pretty sure I would've hit 4 ADs with 顺子 as well)

#are you reading edanglars translation (im guessing)? if you bookbinded thats very cool!#edanglars is amazing at translation. theyve done several priest novels#i can say modu edanglars translation reads Very close to the chinese original in word choice and sentence structure and its just lovely#one of my favorite novels period. (also edanglars translated Golden Terrace which i hear is good)#the thing about priest novels is... theyre written lovely... but yeah eng translations are So hit and miss#guardian had like 8 translations and even the version seven seas is using (yukas) i personally feel has some shortcomings#(i still love it and appreciate it just it preserves word choice but NOT sentence clause order not tense not sentence breaks all the time#which means the writing style impact is lost somewhat) and chichi i feel does GREAT priest translations (and all chichis translations are#good). can ci pins translation is amazing but was made by a superfan of ccp which put SO much effort into it#i actually think northwestern flowers spl translation is really good#back when it was online it needed a beta edit for had/have grammar errors. there was a lot of those errors.#but Style wise it had a very Old English Fantasy in the way northwest flower worded the translation#which i think conveyed the Feeling of reading chinese spl really well? as spl also had that Imitating Older Writing style fantasy#historical style in chinese. i absolutely couldnt imagine managing to preserve that myself but northwest flower managed to.#tldr but yeah edanglars does Amazing translation work. and modu is absolutely so close to its original and reads so Smooth in english#i feel like i cpuldve picked it up off the best selling shelf in a store near stephen king or murakami translations#its plot and actual content is also SO in depth. like. modu and cancipin were written more recenrly than guardian#and more recently that tian ya ke by far. and you can tell priest got more in depth and pl#fleshed out stories more/worldbuilt more/really consistently weighed themes more as priest kept writing#a lot of priests newer stuff has a lot more meaning packed per section. im excited to read liehuo jiaochou#becayse its also newer and i suspect itll be doing a lot of really cool stuff that maybe wasnt fully considered in earlier novels

Yeah I'm reading the EDanglars translation and I'm super impressed, actually.

I've struggled with Priest in the past (love Tian Ya Ke but Guardian was a struggle and Qi Ye lost me partway through) and I could TELL it was translation issues where I'm sure the original prose is beautiful and layered but it's not coming through.

And I've read Golden Terrace/Stage but not the published translation so I'm enthused that it's the same translator.

I love this conversation so much.

I'm loving Mo Du so far. The translation is good, too because Priest is, I think, hard to translate and there have been some beautiful sentences so far. Which is a relief because my experience with Priest is very hit and miss.
