yingdu finally giving us lu guang's pov is wonderful and heartbreaking because we're constantly reminded of his grief in these small moments — the way his eyes widen in shock when he sees cheng xiaoshi for the first time again; how it must ache when moments before he saw that now smiling face grimacing, and the life leaving his eyes. my heart broke when he instinctively grasped cheng xiaoshi's wrist, insisting he was okay (in other words, pleading cheng xiaoshi to stay where he can see him, not wanting to part after he's just gotten him back). the ache of cheng xiaoshi's uninhibited joy as he's reminded of his reason for doing this: to prevent that smile from fading. he can never settle into the 'present' moment because he's done it all before and will do it all again, and again, and again, because how can he bear to let something so beautiful go?

Here once again to recommend Ringing Fate. I actually watched it on a whim sort of. I follow Haoling Li (script/director for Link Click, director for Heaven Official's Blessing, director for the upcoming To Be Hero X) and Inplick (artist who has amazing art and does official art for Link Click) on Twitter. And I had seen Inplick and Haoling post this:

Knew absolutely nothing about the series except that you could watch it on YouTube. So I immediately pulled up episode 1, watched it, and fell in love. It's phenomenal. I don't want to talk too much about the story because I feel like experiencing everything would be better. But I highly recommend.

My 2 cents as a donghua and cdrama blog:

The reception for this is not just negative it's in hell, people are roasting it on weibo 😬🥴 ngl even I'm like why are you doing this just as season 2 is about to air??? Although this usually happens before a big IP live action drops. Hikaru No Go live action was the same before it dropped, and Link Click is directed by the same director and script writer as Qi Hun so *fingers crossed*

Bu Guanjin, I've watched a bunch of her dramas, I think she's a pretty good actor. Bi Wenjun on the other hand...but Lu Guang is not a very expressive character maybe he'll be okay in this role. I'm fond of Jiang Long, but maybe not the right Cheng Xiaoshi, props to him if he can turn it around.

For the non cdrama fans, Lu Guang will likely not have white hair. The censorship probably wouldn't allow it. With dramas I feel like maybe some of the themes in the donghua might also get censored too, unless they are writing a whole new original storyline for the drama, who knows 😩😩

Visto che non c'è ancora una data di debutto, nel frattempo vi ricordo che le prime due serie del franchise, chiamate To Be Hero e To Be Heroine, sono già presenti su Crunchyroll.

One of the best things 'The Eye' and 'Lull' have done is helping me reinterpret the romantic under(?!)tones of the previous openings and endings without any weird guilt (of forcing my gay agenda on anything, which I know is idiotic but anyway). Go back and listen to Vortex, Dive Back in Time and The Tides, everything falls into place all of a sudden. And ALSO, read the damn lyrics of Overthink!

Yingdu is standing there with a scythe or something as I write this but I am actually feeling very content right now. Oh, also! found a theory on twitter thread titled This isn’t the dead wife you’re looking for: how Link Click leverages the “dead wife” trope for CXS while actively subverting it (bro wrote an almost academic paper, delicious arguments really, a similar discussion I was having with a friend the other day) which really makes a lot of sense! The form and content aligns very perfectly if we keep that theory in mind.
