Demontober 2023 Day 20: Baphomet
Baphomet, also known known as the "Sabbatic Goat" is a demonic entity, a king of demons, usually equated with Satan and an idol adopted by the Knights Templar from Islamic belief. He is also the self-proclaimed "god" of his own cult the Halo of the Sun which has the town of Silent Hill in an iron grip.
His name is believed to be a corruption of Muhammad, the founder of Islam. He is usually depicted with the head and legs of a goat, with a torch between his horns and a pentagram on his forehead, with black bird wings, and the body of a human woman or hermaphrodite.
He has the power to control all human women, and is said to give witches their power, thus, famously known as a demon worshiped by witches. In some branches of demonology, Baphomet is seen as a high-ranking ruler of Hell and one of Satan's many henchmen. This may go some way into explaining why the two demons often seem to share the same qualities. Baphomet is a goat-headed demon who was worshiped by practitioners of the occult, although there was little evidence of this actually occurring until later in history. He was also supposedly the secret benefactor of the Knight Templars during the height of the persecution against the Order.
The Knights Templar, heroes of the Crusades, were accused of worshiping Baphomet by a church Inquisition and branded as heretics. To keep them silent, the head of the Templars and another senior leader were sentenced to be burned alive. However, it was later revealed that this was orchestrated by King Philip IV of France, who coveted the Templars' wealth and moreover was purportedly under the influence of Baphomet himself who used the king to twist the image of the Templars and their faith.
Despite this, Baphomet's worship came to an end when the Brotherhood of St. Longinus waged war against the demon's cult, joining forces with the surviving members of the defunct Knights Templar, while destroying and burning any effigy and unholy church that was created in reverence to Baphomet. One cult member and founding member, Jennifer Carroll, was able to grab a bas relief of Baphomet and flee persecution at the hands of the Brotherhood of St. Longinus. Due to Baphomet's lingering essence within the bas relief, he kept Jennifer alive to fulfill his needs. Unfortunately for Jennifer, she would meet her end during the Salem Witch Trials through burning by puritanical Christians in 1692.
The bas relief was again taken by sympathizers for witches during the Trials and settled within Maine. Baphomet's cult only grew within Maine, eventually settling in a town that would come to be known as Silent Hill. Baphomet had his cult grow inside the town, infiltrating the public institutions of the town while gradually gaining more influence and power

Demontober 2023 Day 25: Duke Vepar
Vepar is a strong Great Duke of Hell, and rules twenty-nine legions of demons.
He governs the waters and guides armoured ships laden with ammunition and weapons; he can also make, if requested, the sea rough and stormy, and to appear full of ships.
Vepar can make men die in three days by putrefying sores and wounds, causing worms to breed in them, but if requested by the conjurer he can heal them immediately.
Vepar is depicted as a mermaid. Despite this, he is always described with male pronouns, although this may be due to the fact that words like "merman" were uncommon or not in use when Vepar was first described.

Demontober 2023 Day 18: Marquis Shax
Shax (also spelled Chax, Shan, Shass, Shaz, and Scox) is a Great Marquis of Jinnestan, and has power over 30 legions of demons on evil horses. He takes away the sight, hearing and understanding of any person under the conjurer's request, and steals money out of kings' houses, carrying it back to the people. He also steals horses and everything the conjurer asks. Shax can also discover hidden things if they are not kept by evil spirits, and sometimes gives good familiars, but sometimes those familiars deceive the conjurer. He should not be bothered too often.
Shax is thought to be faithful and obedient, but is a great liar and will deceive the conjurer unless obliged to enter a magic triangle drawn on the floor. He will then speak marvellously and tell the truth. He knows when lies are told and uses these to teach lessons.
He is depicted as a stork that speaks with a hoarse but subtle voice; his voice changes into a beautiful one once he entered the magic triangle.

Demontober 2023 Day 17: Prince Stolas
Stolas is the 36th Spirit of the Ars Goetia and a Great Prince of Hell, commanding twenty-six legions of demons (twenty-five according to other authors).
Stolas is given the title of a Great Prince of Hell, or sometimes simply Prince. Like all the other demons of the Goetia, Stolas commands a particular number of demonic legions, specifically 26. His duties and skills are described consistently across the Goetia, Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, and the Dictionnaire Infernal, and describe Stolas as bearing superlative knowledge of astronomy, the value of precious stones, and the effectiveness of herbs or poisonous plants. He will impart that knowledge to those who summon him.
He is depicted as either being a crowned owl with long legs, a raven, or a man. His black raven is his demon form while his "angelic" form is that of a winged man with dark curly hair and blue eyes

Demontober 2023 Day 3: Earl Furfur
Furfur the Great earl of hell and he’s a Valet of Hell to Lucifer palace.
Furfur, also known as Furtur or Ferthur, is the 34th spirit of the Ars Goetia and a great and mighty Earl of Hell (or a powerful Count).
Furfur rules over 26 legions of infernal spirits and his seal must be worn when he is summoned. Even without the proper usage of materials and ritual, Furfur answers to his children, and further aids their livelihoods with answers and promises which are both communicated through direct thoughts within the mind, it is a trade. A single known cult for his praising is known, though his worship and learning is considered private, and entwined to single persons.
He appears in the form of a deer or hart with a fiery tail. He will always lie to the summoner unless he is compelled into a summoning triangle. Once he is forced into the triangle, he takes the form of an angel, and he speaks in a rough and hoarse voice.
Collin de Plancy has shown Furfur as a monster with the hindquarters and head of a hart, but the breast and arms of a man, and bat-like wings that carry him through the air. The wings may be intended to suggest his angelic form.

Demontober 2023 Day 31: Samael
Samael (Hebrew: סַמָּאֵל, Sammāʾēl, "Venom/Poison of God"; Arabic: سمسمائيل, Samsama'il or سمائل, Samail; alternatively Smal, Smil, Samil, or Samiel) is an archangel in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore; a figure who is the accuser or adversary (Satan as mentioned in the Book of Job), seducer, and destroyer (Mashhit as mentioned in the Book of Exodus).
Although many of his functions resemble the Christian notion of Satan, to the point of being sometimes identified as a fallen angel, 257–60  he is not necessarily evil, since his functions are also regarded as resulting in good, such as destroying sinners.
He is considered in Midrashic texts to be a member of the heavenly host with often grim and destructive duties. One of Samael's greatest roles in Jewish lore is that of the main angel of death and the head of satans. Although he condones the sins of man, he remains one of God's servants. He appears frequently in the story of the Garden of Eden and engineered the fall of Adam and Eve with a snake in writings during the Second Temple period. However, the serpent is not a form of Samael, but a beast he rode like a camel.[8] In a single account he is also believed to be the father of Cain, as well as the partner of Lilith. In early Talmudic and Midrashic literature he is not identified with Satan yet. Only in later Midrashim he is entitled "head of satans".
As guardian angel and prince of Rome, he is the archenemy of Israel. By the beginning of Jewish culture in Europe, Samael had been established as a representative of Christianity, due to his identification with Rome. : 263
In some Gnostic cosmologies, Samael's role as source of evil became identified with the Demiurge, the creator of the material world. Although probably both accounts originate from the same source, the Gnostic development differs from the Jewish development of Samael, in which Samael is merely an angel and servant of God.

Demontober 2023 Day 29: Naamah
Naamah, also known as Nahemah, Na'amah or Erisitica Alusta is a figure in the Bible and Jewish mysticism. She is described as being an 'angel' of prostitution, and one of the succubi mates of the fallen archangel Samael in Zoharistic Qabalah.
Naamah is a spirit of women’s sexual autonomy and sacred erotic rites. Naamah rules the ecstatic point where sex, spiritual ecstasy, and music intersect. Those who comprehend this point and seek to attain it are her constituency.
As she was mentioned as a demon, angel, succubus and human, it most likely that she can change her race at will. She is generally identified with the daughter of Lamech. This Naamah is a counterpart to the one who appears in Genesis, and she is regarded, like her mortal counterpart, as a patron of divination and music.
Her fellow succubi are Lilith, Eisheth Zenunim, and Agrat Bat Mahlat, These four have been called the Grand Succubi and Queens of Lust. She is also known as one of the four angels of prostitution. She is also known as the mother of divination or The Charmer. Naamah's appearance is similar to Lilith, but Lilith is described as being more sensual, young and beautiful and as one that corrupted the fallen angels and their leader Samyaza.
