Telematics: emergency backup battery renewal
The manufacturer recommends a planned renewal of the telematics battery, and has included this in the maintenance schedules. For this renewal you will need to know where the battery is located. The technician will need a manual for the procedure.
Where disconnecting the battery (working on a vehicle) also requires disconnection of the Telematics unit, this information will be added to our ‘Battery: procedures for disconnection/reconnection’ manuals.
Comfort Wiring Diagrams update
The wires within the comfort wiring diagrams are now shown in their actual colours by default (Monochrome is still available if preferred for printing)
Jacking and Lifting points
Recent European research has focused on reducing injuries associated with lifting vehicles. For electronically complex vehicles, with battery packs located in the vehicle floor, detailed information is required to prevent injury or damage. An overview of the jacking and lifting points, now displayed within our product, will make it easier for the technician to identify any special requirements for the location of the jack and/or the lifting points.

The Engine Room
I’m in Brussels, engrossed in the launch of the new ES for those master craftsmen, Lexus. So is the Viking - and, I’m delighted to say, so, also, is the beetle. And, it’s looking pretty good. I’m impressed. It may be taking longer than we had planned - a lot longer, but that is because we had to start over - from scratch. The quality of the Viking’s work is evident, his signature is all over the SC - I’m now getting seriously interested in starting the test programme. But, not, under any circumstances, until it is really ready. I guess my experience with this car so far has made me incredibly wary, I would rather she didn't turn a wheel until we are sure that every system on the car is fully operational. And it’s all turned out professionally. We are launching a new team along with the new car - and it has to look boss. And go like stink ...
Next stop for the project is doing some ‘hard time’ in the bodyshop. Why - what’s that got to do with going fast? A lot, actually. This project needs business partners, switched on partners have an image to project, and we need to ensure that the team’s image is on the money. The beetle is the launch car for our new historic racing squad, colour and logo soon to be revealed. And it needs to hit the ground running. No more false dawns.
The plan is to test at Zolder initially - that way we will have the Viking in attendance as chief race engineer - and it’s likely to be the same script when the car makes it’s HSCC debut. Realistically, all the work is being done now for 2019 - but WE WILL race in 2018, no question.
But it’s good - seeing the car has sent a shot of adrenaline through my system. And it’s been built into a racer. It bares no resemblance to the neglected shell that I towed across the channel in December.
Thank Odin.

THE ALL-NEW LEXUS ES: A HIGHER LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE AND SOPHISTICATION
The seventh generation ES will be introduced to the UK from January 2019.  Renowned for its comfort, refinement and luxury appointments, the new, seventh generation mid-size saloon, ES builds on its strengths with an all-new chassis that allows for a more dynamic exterior design and even better driving performance.
It is a further expression of Lexus’ design direction and commitment to crafting vehicles that provide more excitement, emotional connection and passion, helping bring the brand’s vision for its future to a wider audience. Traditional buyers will find the new ES more spacious, quieter and safer than ever before, while a new generation of customers will be introduced to a saloon with sharpened performance, class-leading safety technology and a level of craftsmanship rarely found in this market segment.
The eye-catching styling, made possible by the use of an all-new Global Architecture-K (GA-K) platform will have particular appeal to customers, together with a more engaging driving experience and higher safety provisions. The new ES is longer (+65 mm), lower (-5 mm) and wider (+45 mm) than its predecessor.
Yasuo Kajino, ES Chief Designer, describes the car’s new look as “provocative elegance”. “The ES has always been an elegant luxury saloon. For this generation, we have added daring design elements that challenge buyers’ traditional expectations,” he said.
The design features a fast roofline that emphasises the vehicle’s lower stance and slippery aerodynamics and the rear end is clean and sharply chiselled. A palette of 12 colours includes new beige and green shades alongside Ice Ecru which mimics light reflected off fresh snow and Sunlight Green inspired by ocean water in sunlight. Two exclusive colours – Heat Blue and F White – are available for F Sport models.
When designing the look and feel of the ES’s cabin, Kajino’s team’s starting point was the Lexus Future Interior concept, which blends a driver-centric cockpit with a spacious and comfortable area for the front passenger. The driver’s focus is kept on the road by locating the centre display screen, instrument panel and head-up display in a tight cluster within the field of view. The interior of the F Sport models features a new kind of metallic cabin trim inspired by traditional Japanese sword-making, the Hadori trim has fluctuating wave patterns.
It will be a connected space with optional navigation system with a range of connected services. This system also provides a 12.3-inch multimedia display and second generation Remote Touch touchpad control. The 17-speaker Mark Levinson PurePlay system makes its debut and is created to immerse each individual in the most powerful, precise and pure audio experience yet.
This ES has been built to deliver a fundamentally higher level of performance than any of its predecessors. Chief Engineer Yasuhiro Sakakibara said: “We knew that this ES had to feel responsive and easy to drive, no matter what kind of road it was on. That can only be achieved with a solid foundation.”
The ES 300h is equipped with a new, fourth generation self-charging hybrid drive system that can deliver exceptional fuel efficiency, responsive performance and minimal emissions for a mid-size luxury saloon. It will be equipped as standard with the latest Lexus Safety System + and can provide added protection for driver and passengers to help prevent an accident from happening. The new features include daytime cyclist detection which is part of the comprehensive Pre-Collision System (PCS) and a two-stage adaptive high beam system (AHS) to turn high beams on and off automatically for the driver.
The ES will usher in a new era for one of Lexus’s longest-established and most popular models designed to engage a wider range of customers. Stronger styling, more dynamic performance, high-quality interior finishes and the latest safety technology will help recast the image of the ES into one that is new and unexpected.

2019 Lexus ES
New Post has been published on https://addmunds.com/2019-lexus-es/
2019 Lexus ES
After six generations of success in the mid-size sedan category, the new, seventh generation Lexus ES is creating a new, more ambitious course. Long renowned for its comfort, improvement and luxury appointments, the new ES builds on its strengths with an all-new chassis that allows for a more dynamic exterior style as well as better driving performance.
It is an additional expression of Lexus’ style instructions and commitment to crafting vehicles that provide more enjoyment, emotional connection and enthusiasm, helping bring the brand name’s vision for its future to a wider audience. Standard purchasers will discover the new ES more large, quieter and much safer than before, while a new generation of consumers will be introduced to a sedan with sharpened performance, class-leading security technology and a level of workmanship rarely discovered in this market segment.
2019 Lexus ES Release Date
The seventh generation Lexus ES will be the first to be introduced to markets in Western Europe. It follows the new LS flagship sedan and LC coupe in carrying forward a new chapter in Lexus style that has a much more powerful emotional quality. The attractive styling, made possible by the usage of a brand new Global Architecture– K (GA-K) platform, will have specific interest consumers in the region, together with a more interesting driving experience as well as greater security provisions. The range will include the ES 300h, on sale from December 2018, powered by a new self-charging hybrid system, together with the ES 200, ES 250 and ES 350 petrol engine models that will go on sale from September 2018.
2019 Lexus ES Platform
The new ES is constructed on the all-new Global Architecture– K (GA-K) platform, giving Lexus the chance to check out the limits of mid-size luxury sedan style. The car is longer (+65 mm), lower (-5 mm) and larger (+45 mm) than its predecessor. The longer wheelbase (+50 mm) allows the wheels to be pressed more detailed to the car’s corners, with larger front and rear treads (+10 and +37 mm). Its stance and percentages reflect its new-found performance abilities and give the Lexus ES the kind of captivating appeal that will make owners and admirers take a review.
The new GA-K platform permitted a lower hood line, which gave Kajino’s team the liberty to produce a distinct shape with a strong down slant, creating a dynamic yet fluid shape. Up front, the ES’ face is significantly different inning accordance with model. The standard versions show elegant, vertical bars that radiate out from the centre of the signature Lexus spindle grille, while the F SPORT models– featured for the first time in the Lexus ES range– adopt a black cross-hatch pattern that refers cut-out areas at the car’s front corners.

2019 Lexus ES Interior
When creating the look and feel of the ES’ cabin, Kajino’s team’s beginning point was the Lexus Future Interior idea, which blends a driver-centric cockpit with a spacious and comfortable location for the front guest. The chauffeur’s focus is kept on the road ahead by locating the centre display screen, instrument panel and head-up display in a tight cluster within the field of vision. Front passengers, on the other hand, have a more open, spacious and relaxing environment.
It will be a linked area, too, with the availability of an optional navigation system including a range of connected services. The navigation also offers a 12.3-inch multimedia show and second generation Remote Touch touchpad control; its voice recognition also extends to a mobile assistant allowing a contactless chauffeur’s smartphone control.
Rear traveler convenience has long been a trademark of the Lexus ES and the new model promotes this quality, in spite of the sleeker exterior roofing line. A lower hip point and carefully configured headlining maintain headroom while the longer wheelbase guarantees generous legroom.
The interior colour options consist of a new mix that reflects the “provocative sophistication” design style. The Rich Cream alternative matches cream upholstery with a brown headlining to give the cabin a modern, yet warm look and feel. Other choices include Black, Chateau and Topaz Brown.
2019 Lexus ES Engine
In Russia and other Eastern markets, ES will be offered with a range of petrol powertrains. The Lexus ES 350 is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that is developed to provide commanding acceleration and a stirring note. This impressively smooth engine benefits from an upgrade to the D4-S fuel injection system and now develops 250 PS/183 kW of torque, marking significant boosts on the performance of the previous generation V6 unit.
Along with the boost in power and torque, the ES 350 also acquires a new eight-speed Direct Shift automated transmission. This uses an ultra-thin torque converter and a multi-plate lock-up clutch to move power to the front wheels more efficiently. It is tuned to deliver crisp, specifically timed shifts with quick pedal actions. With a larger spread of rations, it can us high-torque gears at the low end for flying starts, and tall tailoring at the high end of maximum efficiency.
The ES 250 will be available with a brand new, high-efficiency 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a new eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. Constructed with light-weight aluminium, it has a long-stroke style, laser-clad intake valve seats and advanced intelligent variable valve timing (VVT-i) to attain high-speed combustion. It has a high general thermal performance of 38 per cent.
