Hello there everybody, if you thought that is the last of the descriptions of the characters, well you got all wrong because there's more to come. I have more stuff coming up soon like part 2 of the storyline of the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise. But if you liked all the descriptions of the characters, well there's more coming to this roster. Here's more descriptions of the characters of the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise.
New Characters: Part 5
Jaeden Martell as Landon Andrews, an really Cool, Serious, & Protective young man who's been close to Sam Carpenter in years until she cheated on him with her boyfriend Richie Kirsch who's Landon has a problem with. He's one of the characters in the Extended Cut of the Scream franchise because he's the best friend of Amber Freeman & Tara Carpenter & the stepbrother of the the Hicks family.
Anna Sawai as Alexis Williams, an Beautiful, Sassy, Tough, & Helpful young woman who's been introduced in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. She's the director's daughter, meaning she is the daughter of Roman Bridger who wanted her to not become a killer like him & have a better life. Until then she's living in New York because she's being adopted by Dewey Riley & Gale Weathers as their daughter & sister of their own daughter Carrie Tatum Riley-Weathers. She's also a classmate of Quentin Bailey in Blackmore University.
Haley Lu Richardson as Bethany "Beth-Ann" Lewis, an Funny, Beautiful, Sassy, Protective, Tough, & Kind young woman who's been introduced in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. She's one of the most popular sorority girls in Blackmore University & she's the older sister of Andrea Lewis.
Mekai Curtis as Reginald "Reggie" Stark, an Humble, Respectful, Tough, & Serious young man who is probably introduced in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. He's one of the characters who attended to Blackmore University because he's being pals with Will & Fred Hicks as he's playing cards with the Hicks brothers, Kimberly "Kim" Watson, Sam & Jenny Kincaid, & Hayley & Holly McDaniel at the Halloween party at the Alpha Keppa Beta Fraternity house.
Kaia Gerber as Taylor Swanson, an Beautiful, Sassy, Hot, & Gorgeous young woman who's also introduced in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. She's one of the hottest sorority girls & one of the cheerleaders in Blackmore University & the sister-in-law of Maurice Thompson. She's the childhood friend of Hannah Kayoko.
Jeremy Ray Taylor as Maurice Thompson, an Tough, Casual, & Creative young man who is been introduced in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. He's one of the characters who attended in Blackmore University. He's the brother-in-law of Taylor Swanson & the younger brother of Joanna Thompson.
Jordan Elsass as Taylor Ferguson, one of the characters in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. He's the younger brother of Tyler Ferguson & he's one of the killers who's wearing a devil version of the Ghostface mask.
Benjamin Flores Jr. As Edward Baker, one of the characters in the Extended Cut of Scream VI.
Fred Henchinger as Darren Blake, one of the characters in the Extended Cut of Scream VI. He & Edward are both classmates in Blackmore University as they know the sequels of the movies.
Cameron Gellman as Trent McCoy, an Tough, Protective, Serious, & Tense young man who is probably one of the new characters in the Extended Cut of Scream (2022). He's one of the members of the friend group of Terry & Larry & he's the childhood friend of Lorraine "Lynn" Sanchez.

Byler Week, Day 5: Secret Identities
This is outsider POV, i have invented a daughter and she's now My daughter (even though she's 15 in 2013 which means she'd be My Age). Also, based on This post I made a trillion, billion years ago—in November lol.
Emma is avoiding her homework.
She’s got a mountain of an essay due on Monday, but writing has never come easy to her (not like Dad, amazing writer that he is, or her younger foster sister Alex, who is most definitely going to be a singer-songwriter). Both her foster dads are pretty cool about helping with stuff their children don’t understand. But Pops is the only one home with her right now, and he’s in his studio painting a commission. Even though she knows he wouldn’t care, she doesn’t want to bother him when he’s in the zone. She’ll ask Dad for help once he and her sisters are back from the store.
For now, she turns on the Xbox to play Mass Effect 2.
In the middle of recruiting Archangel, she gets a ping on her computer. Her friend Corgi has messaged her. It’s a row of question marks and a link to an article.
Identities of Award-Winning Artist-Author YA duo, Bloomfield and Blackmore, revealed in Tell-All Leak by reliable anonymous source.
gengaratemycorgi Emmy, isn’t this your foster dads?
Shit.
“Pops!” Emma calls.
There’s a distant clatter and splash, and then Will runs into the room. He’s got red paint splattered down the front of his shirt, making him look a little bit like he’s been stabbed. “What’s wrong Emmy? Are you okay?”
Normally she would tease him about the paint spill. Instead, she silently shows him the article and watches his face drop. He plops down beside her.
“Well, shit,” he says, reaching up to brush his hair from his face and inadvertently getting paint in it.
She's too worried about him to even giggle over it. “Are you and Dad gonna be okay?”
Will huffs a tired laugh. “We’ll be fine. The Lab’s NDA has expired. I’m honestly surprised we lasted this long under the radar.”
Emma can’t help but agree—her dads having so many different pseudonyms was bound to bite them in the butt someday.
“I’m gonna go call Mike, and then see about sorting this mess out.”
She’s not entirely certain if he’s referring to the mess of the leak, or the mess of paint all over him.
-
When everyone is back, she and her sisters sit in the living room—watching Mike and Will walk around, on the phone with their agents and the publicists of their book series’. Emmy feels a little bit useless, leaning her head on Rachel’s shoulder. Beside them, Alex has her earphones in and is journaling—conflict makes her anxious.
Eventually, her dads get off the phone and instead sit at the table on their laptops, typing out statements for the press and their social medias’. (And with all their names, there’s a lot of social medias to go through.)
Still feeling useless, and for lack of anything else to do, Emmy opens tumblr and scrolls to the new post made by her Dads’ official account.

BloomfieldAndBlackmore When we originally created ‘Elliot and the Other World’, we were required (legally) to publish under pen names. Thus, Bloomfield and Blackmore were born. We weren’t expecting Elliot and his friends to be as well loved as they’ve ended up being, though we are forever grateful for that. It’s thanks to fans like all of you that Elliot and the Other World is still going strong today!
Then, four years later, when we wanted to publish ‘Smalltown Boys’, we knew that our publisher would never allow us to publish a Gay romance under the same names as E&tOW, especially not back then. But Smalltown was too close to our hearts to set aside, so we created Lewis and Xavier Wakeham. (We flipped a coin on who got to be Xavier, and Mike is still the tiniest bit bitter that I won.). It was still a struggle to get it published, but we’re forever grateful that we were able to.
Around that same time, we were beginning to foster. Our youngest at the time suffered from terrible nightmares (a plight we know well), so Mike and I would tell stories to help him back to sleep. Our oldest thought they were good enough stories to be published. We could have probably published those under Bloomfield and Blackmore, but that would have meant editing out that Prince Adam has two dads, and neither of our children would have ever forgiven us for that. So Oak and Rose joined the scene, publishing stories for kids like our foster children. It’s something that’s brought a lot of joy to our family.
Things began to get complicated after a colleague and friend, Ed Munson, wanted our input on a Dungeons and Dragons anthology he was creating. While he likely would have been fine with us using our pen names (as Elliot and the Other World is largely based on D&D), that would have required him to keep secrets about his own project. So out of respect for him, we used our own names.
We don’t know if that’s what led to this leak. The investigation into who tipped our names to the press is still on-going. To whoever it was, we’re not mad, we’re just disappointed.
To our fans, we send our love. -Will and Mike

She scrolls through the reblogs.

BananananaAmanda “Required legally???????? Sirs ????? Were you in some kind of witness protection??????
DNDNotebook Amanda don’t be stupid, they probably had some kind of job that would have fired them for writing DnD books--it was like the 80s and people thought DnD was demonic.
BloomfieldAndBlackmore Well, actually, you’re both a little bit correct (though Amanda is slightly more correct, please don’t call them stupid). - Mike
BananananaAmanda My favorite author used the correct pronoun for me and also defended my honor im in tears rn.Also though, my witness protection theory has weight what????? Were parts of E&tOW Real??? ?????
BloomfieldAndBlackmore ..¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
AllBimy5elf ‘we’re not mad, we’re just disappointed.’ pffffft. Honestly iconic.
-
Lovepeace23 are we ignoring the fact that they’re gay ?? and yet they’re writing children’s books?? Keep that shit away from kids pervs
DNDNotebook hey asshat, the 80s called, they want their bigotry back
tydieandying i’m thinking about the fac that since they’re gay, maybe my headcanon that Elliot is gay for Dave is true
Dendy7ever even if they -are- gay (which isn’t confirmed) doesn’t mean you have to push that agenda on to their characters. Dave is in love with Elliot’s twin sister Wendy. And Elliot is just growing slower than the rest of the Club because of his trauma. You’ll see when book ten comes out.
AllBimy5elf ‘isn’t confirmed’ after they talked about fostering?? They’re literally dads together?? Now who’s pushing sexuality onto people?
DNDNotebook lmao also the ‘in love’. bro goes out of his way to hold his bestie’s hand, but doesn’t like holding hands w Em when they kiss? Fishy.
-
BananananaAmanda ok but,,, since the main reasons Elliot & Other Worlds has never gotten a tv show is because the series was still on going, and the creators weren’t in the public eye…show?? Maybe???
AllBimy5elf ok yes I 1000000% want an Other Worlds show, but Smalltown Boys movie when???? I want to see my gay childhood friends to lovers happy ending On Screen

DNDNotebook said
Can we ask about your foster kids? You must really care about them if you wrote them childrens books. How are they doing in all this?
BloomfieldAndBlackmore Thank you for asking. Our two boys are grown now, but we’ve called them and they’re doing fine--no one has harassed them about it, if they’ve even made the connection. Our three foster daughters are doing as well as can be in the circumstances. Our middle daughter was the one who alerted us to the article (Hey Pumpkin, we love you!!). We’ll continue to try and keep them out of the public eye—they didn’t ask for any of this hubbub. -Will
LostimtheOtherWorld hey is your daughter @/DemigodEmmi98?
A jolt of anxiety has her shutting her laptop. She looks up to where her dads are still working and considers saying something. She gnaws at her nails.
“You okay, Em?” Rachel murmurs, shutting her phone and throwing an arm around Emmy’s shoulder.
Emma leans into the hug. “I’m being stupid.”
“I doubt it, this whole this is fucking scary. Plus you’re like a baby. I’m eighteen and I’m terrified.”
Emmy scowls. “I’m fifteen, not a baby. And you won’t be eighteen ‘til March.”
Rachel laughs, which makes Emma feel a little less anxious.
She looks to Alex, who has moved on from journaling to just listening to music and staring out the window.
“I think Alex needs your worry more than I do, she’s barely ten.” She’s probably freaking out right now.
Rachel gives her one more squeeze. “You’re a good big sister, Em.” Rachel moves over to quietly talk with their sister. Leaving Emmy alone on the couch.
She sighs and forces herself to open her computer back up, and scroll through her notifications. As she suspected, her followers have somehow made the connection of her talking about her author and artist foster dads, and somehow it’s escaped containment to Other Worlds fandom. She’s got a hundred and eighty-six asks and two hundred new followers.
Most of the messages are nice ones, asking if she’s okay, or ones congratulating her on her cool dads; but there are a few—maybe from the same person—that say that they’ll pray for her immortal soul for having two dads? What? It’s 2013, not the Middle Ages!
She deletes those, and the ones asking for inside scoops on future books, then debates attempting to answer the ones left.
The thought makes her exhausted so instead she makes her own post.
-
DemigodEmmi98 regarding the influx of asks from anons and followers wondering if Mike and Will are the foster dads I’ve been talking about… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
tydieandying Emmy is that a yes??
gengaratemycorgi lmaooo
-
Unfortunately that seems to immediately feed the fire, as she gets three more asks in the span of a minute. She opens up the message box from earlier today.
-
Emmy: haha Immediate Regret(:
Corgi: u gonna be ok?
Emmy: ye, just. tired of tumblr right now lol, gonna jump offline for the next couple days til this all dies down. i’ll message u on snap.
-
“Sorry about all this, Pumpkin,” Mike murmurs, when she tells him what’s happened. Emmy burrows into his hug. He’s been good at hugs as long as she’s known him—he and Pops make her feel so safe.
“‘S not your fault, Dad.” She pulls back to grin at him. “Plus, missing school on Monday means I don’t have to turn in that bullshit essay I haven’t done yet.”
Mike snorts, scrubs his knuckles over her hair. “You are your fathers’ daughter.”
“Well, we all got doxxed, so I figure it’s our prerogative, right?”
Mike grimaced. “Maybe we should call your aunts in for a bit.”
“El and everyone are already on their way,” Will reports, entering the room again. He stoops to press a kiss to each other his daughters heads, before pressing one to Mike’s mouth. Then they’re both silent for a long moment. But it’s not a bad, scary silent.
They do this sometimes, Mike and Will--this thing where it seems like they’re speaking to each other with their minds. It could simply be that thing In-Love parents seem to be able to do, where they just know each other's minds (something her birth parents weren’t capable of). But, considering what she knows about their fucked-up childhood in Hawkins, she wouldn’t be surprised if it were powers. She could ask them, and they’d likely tell her the truth.
But Emmy thinks they’ve had enough secrets revealed for today, so she keeps her mouth shut and continues leaning against her parents.

George Villiers 1st Duke of Buckingham in Fiction - a partial summary
CW: discussions of biphobia and homophobia in historical fiction and current historiography.
Feeling both inspired and outraged in equal measure by the upcoming Mary&George series, and having been fascinated with this remarkable man since forever, I have decided to post this partial overview of portrayals of George in fiction. The ones in bold are the ones I have read. Feel free to add to the list.
The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas
The Honey and The Sting, Elizabeth Freemantle
My Queen My Love, E.M Vidal
Cavalier Queen, Fiona Mountain
The Dangerous Kingdom Of Love, Neil Blackmore
The Fallen Angel, Tracy Borman
Wife Of Great Buckingham, Hilda Lewis
Darling Of Kings, P J Womack
The Queens Dwarf, Ella March Chase
The Smallest Man, Frances Owen
The Spanish Match, Brennan Purcell
Captain Alatriste, Arturo Pérez-Reverte
The Cardinal and The Queen, Evelyn Anthony
Earthly Joys, Philippa Gregory
Myself My Enemy, Jean Plaidy
Charles The King, Evelyn Anthony
The Young And Lonely King, Jane Lane
The Fortunes Of Nigel, Walter Scott
The Crowned Lovers, E Barrington
The Minion, Raphael Sabiniti
The Murder In The Tower, Jean Plaidy
A Net For Small Fishes, Lucy Jago
The Arm and the Darkness, Taylor Caldwell
Les Gloires et les perils (?), Robert Merle
And a few I’m not so sure about where George is mentioned in passing: .
Viper Wine, Hermionie Eyre
John Saturnalls Feast, Lawrence Norfolk
Rebels and traitors, Lindsay Davis
The Assassin, Ronald Blythe
Some observations, in no particular order:
Novels set mostly in James reign often have George as a rival to Robert Carr and will attempt to foreshadow how much worse he will be compared to Carr.
The ones that feature Henrietta Maria as Protagonist or at least POV character, where George is normally a baddie trying to sabotage HM and Charles I's relationship, and his death is often portrayed as some sort of salvation for HM. In these books George will often be lamed for things which were IRL Charles's fault such as the expulsion of HMs French household in 1626.
Three Musketeers is practically a category in its own right due to all the film/tv adaptions but has had relatively few clones or imitators in English which is something of a surprise
George is only a protagonist in one of these books (Darling of Kings, P J Womack) in the rest he's a cameo or a villain
Rumours that I suspect authors know is nonsense are repeated verbatim such as Tracy Borman's baseless speculation about G offing the Manners brothers, king James, and his rumoured involvement with the occult.
Georges relationships with James and Charles respectively are mentioned but not meaningfully explored. neither are any other personal relationships he had.
The insights and shifts in terms of post 1970s revisionist and post revisionist scholarship esp. Roger Lockyer's bio of George have not found their way into any fiction set in this era. Georges capability as an administrator and manager of patronage is more often than not totally absent.
the general view of George and why he's often shown in such a negative light is pretty much "well, he was willing to god knows what with that dirty old man James; who knows what other depravities he was capable of" and its female authors who really seem to lean into this, which I find fascinating and disturbing.
EDIT (can’t believe I forgot this) George’s murder in 1628 is always the result of some sort of aristocratic conspiracy rather than the act of terrorism it was IRL. I do get why authors do this - the amount of world building and foreshadowing needed to make it seem plausible rather than random in universe. However making it the result of personal grudge rather than ideological violence detracts from why it was so shocking and important.
#Well this is longer than I intended#tedious drivel#CW biphobia#CW: Homophobia#george villiers#duke of buckingham#mary & george#mary and george#Charles I#James I#Henrietta Maria#I need something better to do with my time

QUOTES :
“Those freckles make you seem like a galaxy of stars, just waiting to be explored and loved.” - Nikita Gill
“All men have stars, but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems... But all these stars are silent. You-You alone will have stars as no one else has them.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Le Petit Prince
“...her who whose beauty is not like earthly beauty, dangerous to look upon, but like the morning star which is its emblem, bright and musical.”- James Joyce, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

“Now I want to live like everybody else. I want to have a wife like everybody else and to take her out on Sundays. I have invented a mask that makes me look like anybody. People will not even turn round in the streets. You will be the happiest of women. And we will sing, all by ourselves, till we swoon away with delight. You are crying! You are afraid of me! And yet I am not really wicked. Love me and you shall see! All I wanted was to be loved for myself. If you loved me I should be as gentle as a lamb; and you could do anything with me that you pleased.” - Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera

HIS AESTHETIC:
A small nook to sit and reflect quietly; new quills and parchments; the perfume of freshly brewed coffee, the way the air smell when Autumn is about to arrive, the feeling when the fingers start tickling the ivories and a melody is born, completely encompassing one's soul; the sound of rain against the glass of the windows; riding a horse with the wind caressing one's hair, free from all fears and worries; songs sung together with friends; the perfume of orange flowers and neroli still lingering on the pillow; the sight of the full moon after a night storm; waves crashing against the sand in the distance;

Extended credits for Museum at Tomorrow episode 5
Below the cut are all of the folks who I used (and asked to be credited) for recordings in Museum at Tomorrow episode 5- specifically, the "This is not for You" recordings.
(The list was too long for podcast episode descriptions)
These recordings were mixed into the soundscape of the show, heavily processed- so you may or may not be able to pick out your voice. Each unique recording is preserved as rhythem, timber, and shape within the episode.
Thank you for your work in creating the canvas of this piece.

RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S SECRET REVEALED
I'm sure almost every Purple fan wondered about Blackmore's strange fascination with castles, knights and medievalism overall. RITCHIE WHY??? Why disgracing the legend parading around in ridiculous tights?
Now we finally know the answer!! (very likely)
I almost accidentally made a discovery that our Black Knight is a direct descendant of British royals such as William the Conqueror and Henry Beauclerc.
In fact, that means we can name Richard the Lionheart Ritchie's distant uncle🔥😏
🔥Here you got here the whole lineage of Ritchie down to Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire. Of course you can check it on many genealogical websites:🔥
(Keep in mind that there are only 7 female ancestors! (in the old days that mattered))
Richard Hugh Blackmore aka RICHARD IV THE BLACK 🖤🖤🖤

Berenger de Bayeux
Pepin of Senlis & Peronne & St. Quentin
Bernard of Italy
Pepin Carloman of Italy
Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire
I was dazed and confused when I found out the truth about Ritchie, but maybe his odd interests and character come from this😂
Also don't forget that name 'Richard' means 'strong in rule' 😂
Cursed photo of Ritchie for you as a bonus💗💓💖

VIsual map of my own work
More Examples
Peter Lewis
focuses on worlds and realities
Has an interest in dreams

"Hey woman" - The Ducats
1965 Written by Robert Battiste and Lewis Skinner
The rock of Let's Do It, my personal fifty favourite singles from 1954-76.
There were regular explosions at Springhill mine in Nova Scotia; two in the late 1950s killed over a hundred miners. People from the area came together for fund-raising concerts, and that included young people from the island across the way.
The Du-Cats were from Port-aux-Basques on the west coast of Newfoundland. The group was Lewis "Butch" Skinner on lead guitar; Jim Crewe on rhythm guitar; Bob Battiste on bass guitar; Joe Boulos on drums; Winston Blackmore as vocalist.
The group were inspired by rock 'n' roll radio as broadcast to the American servicemen at Gander air force base. But their music brought in a distinct culture. It blended in the jigs and reels of the Celtic diaspora running through Newfoundland culture like pyrite runs through rock. Sometimes obvious, sometimes you have to listen to hear the unusual steps and time signatures.
After five years of increasing success in and beyond Atlantic Canada, the group travelled down to Boston to make an eponymous album. This single attracted the attention of Berry Gordy, and the group came within a whisker of being signed to Motown Records - but it didn't happen. Two further albums were made and released locally. The group continued to gig and perform, and were celebrated with an East Coast Music Award in 2008. Lew Skinner spoke to the CBC in 2021.
Why is this one of the best fifty singles of the era? It's an example of how so much music was being made. Young people cared for what they did, young people had talent and drive. That they didn't always meet with massive commercial success is often down to sheer chance.

This is a sideblog for my own sort of personal reading project for the next couple of years. Based on the Reading Like a Victorian website, I have picked six/seven books published serially during 1864-1866 and will 'follow along' throughout 2024-2026, probably also reading some of the other publications from those years in their correct 'serial moment.'
See below the cut for the works I'll be reading and how I'll be tagging, etc.
Why 1864-66?
It lines up with my more general reading goals (at some point in 2024 I hope to move from a focus on literature from 1837-1859 to a focus on literature from 1860-1879)
It's the two-year period on RLV with the most novels I haven't already read (which have librivox recordings available - I have a chronic illness and have to spend a lot of my non-working time lying down, so the vast majority of my 'reading' is in audio form.)
The books I'll be reading serially are:
Luttrell of Arran by Charles Lever in 15 monthly parts, Dec 1863 to Feb 1865 (I didn't decide I was going to include this one in time to begin in Dec 2023, so read 2 parts in Jan 2024, and will otherwise follow schedule until Feb 2025) [This one is the only one not on librivox - I'm using a text-to-speech app instead]
The Doctor's Wife by Mary Elizabeth Braddon in 12 monthly parts, Jan to Dec 1864 (Jan to Dec 2024)
Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens in 19 monthly parts (the last month having approx twice the normal number of chapters, as a sort of double-installment), May 1864 to Nov 1865 (May 2024 to Nov 2025)
Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell in 18 monthly parts, Aug 1864 to Jan 1866 (Aug 2024 to Jan 2026)
Armadale by Wilkie Collins in 20 monthly parts, Nov 1864 to May 1866 (Nov 2024 to May 2026)
The Belton Estate by Anthony Trollope in 16 twice-monthly parts, May 1865 to Jan 1866 (May 2025 to Jan 2026)
Cradock Nowell: A Tale of the New Forest by R.D. Blackmore in 16 monthly parts, May 1865 to Aug 1866 (May 2025 to Aug 2026
The 'other' works from 1864 to 1866 I hope to read at the corresponding 'serial moment' are:
Henry Dunbar, the Story of an Outcast by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, published as a 3 volume novel in May 1864 following previous serialisation (May 2024)
Brother Jacob by George Eliot, a short story published in a magazine in July 1864 (July 2024)
Enoch Arden by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, a (narrative?) poem published November 1864 (Nov 2024)
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, children's story published in one volume Nov 1865 (Nov 2025)
Felix Holt, the Radical by George Eliot, a three-volume novel published in August 1866 (Aug 2026)
I'll also be 'binge' reading other works (mainly Victorian, initially focusing on the period 1837-1859, then moving on to the 1860s, then on to the 1870s), so I'm not going to be *strictly* staying in the 'serial moment'... but it will be an interesting project for me nonetheless.
Tagging:
The reason I'm doing this on a sideblog rather than my main is that I want to post fairly unfiltered thoughts, and not to spend much time dithering over a post; therefore please be aware that this blog is highly likely to post untagged spoilers for the works, and probably untagged triggers.
For the most part, I will also not be using the standard tags for the works, as I don't want to clog up the main tags. I'll be using alternative tags like so:
#LoA (Luttrell of Arran)
#TDW (The Doctor's Wife)
#OMF (Our Mutual Friend)
#W&D (Wives and Daughters)
#Arma (Armadale)
#TBE (The Belton Estate)
#CN (Cradock Nowell)
#HD (Henry Dunbar)
#EA (Enoch Arden)
#AiW (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland)
#FH (Felix Holt)
I may also tag with the month & year (e.g. #Jan 1864) and serialised part (e.g. #part 1). When I tag characters, I think I will generally do first name & work initials (e.g. for Bella Wilfer from Our Mutual Friend: #bella OMF) unless I want the post to go in the main tag for that character.
Things I hope to pay particular attention to:
Serialisation: serialised parts, how the part-breaks are utilised (or not), how characters who have been out of the narrative for a few months are recalled to mind (or not), etc
The characters of Cynthia Kirkpatrick (Wives and Daughters) and Bella Wilfer (Our Mutual Friend)... W&D and OMF are the only two books of the above that I've read before, and I don't think it would really have occurred to me to compare them as they are so different in setting and tone, but actually - once I began thinking about it - I realised that both of them explore, in different ways, the psychological effect of financial insecurity on lower-middle class young women, and how that affects their approach to life and the choices they make and so on, so l think that will be an interesting thing to consider as I read. I will also consider if characters in any of the other works also explore similar ideas.
Social class as it relates to romantic storylines (again, I think there are some possible parallels to be drawn between W&D and OMF at least)
Class more generally, and all the different things that contribute to class and perceived class (wealth, posessions, income, occupation, education, birth & family, company & connections, 'manner', 'respectability', etc)
Women and reputation
Women in sensation plots...
Sensation plots more generally... In particular, I want to see if I can figure out why I've never seen anyone categorise OMF as a Sensation novel, despite it being from the right time period and including a lot of the hallmarks of the Sensation genre, including questions of identity, deception, crime, scheming, moral dilemmas, etc. I'm hoping that reading it alongside a few Sensation novels (Cradock Nowell is apparently a sensation novel, as are Armadale and both Braddon novels) and a few novels from authors associated with non-sensation literature (Gaskell, Trollope and Eliot), will help me figure out what I'm missing... [Actually, between writing the above and posting, I found this from the review of OMF by E.S. Dallas, published in The Times 29 Nov 1865: "The story, of course, we are not going to tell. It is very ingenious, and the plot is put together with an elaboration which we scarcely expect to find in a novel published in parts. All we shall say of it is, that those readers who pant for what is called "sensation" may feast in it to their heart's content on sensation; and that those who care more for quiet pictures and studies of character will also find that the author has provided for them. Mr. Dickens's range is wide, [...]"]]
Crime and morality
Violence
The role of the urban and the rural
Wives and Daughters contains a woman who becomes the wife of a doctor, and based on the title, I rather assume The Doctor's Wife does too... this could be a very shallow parallel but I guess I'll find out!
The last installment of W&D... I'm wondering if (by that time) being used to the 'rhythm' of the novel's serial publication will shed any sort of light on how things might have played out, beyond what is explicitly given...
Possible queer readings, esp of Our Mutual Friend
Other things worth mentioning:
The illustration used in my header and icon is by Marcus Stone, for the original serialisation of Our Mutual Friend.
I will also be attempting to do some relevant academic reading around some of the themes, etc, but 1) I want to avoid spoilers for the works I haven't already read, and 2) I don't have a lot of time/energy due to being both chronically ill and employed, so I don't know how successful I'll be at that.

Oh boy. I have So Many suggestions, you have no idea.
For the 2nd Doctor:
- Dr Finlay by Andy Stewart - I’ve always thought that it feels exactly like the kind of song that Jamie would sing to tease the Doctor
For the 5th Doctor:
- Jiggery Pokery by The Duckworth Lewis Method - it’s a cricket song and the singer loses the game because he underestimated the bowler. Lots of 5th Doctor vibes
- You’ve Got to Be a Cricket Hero (To Get Along With the Beautiful Girls) by Cantabile The London Quartet - again it’s a cricket song but this one just has Tegan vibes to me. Like with Dr Finlay and Jamie i can see Tegan singing it (extremely sarcastically) to annoy the Doctor
For the 7th Doctor:
- Mr. Shorty by Marty Robbins - a short man, a friendly but lonely and sad stranger, who stumbles upon trouble and defeats his opponent “before he could start” and then leaves, never to be seen again.
For the 8th Doctor/War Doctor:
- ButterflyWaltz by Brian Crain - this is a pre-war 8th Doctor song. No lyrics, just a waltz, but it’s the kind of music I can picture him playing in the tardis
- Sound the Bugle by Bryan Adams - the 8th Doctor loses hope, rejects his name and becomes the Warrior. But in the end he becomes the Doctor again and saves Gallifrey.
- Mars by Sleeping at Last - this song makes me think of the time war in general, the line about bodies born to heal become so prone to die really fits with time lords and regeneration. The whole song just fits really well with the 50th anniversary and the end of the time war.
For the 9th Doctor:
- Old Scars/Future Hearts by All Time Low - Nine is kicking and screaming his way to healing, he’ll carry the guilt forever but this is HIS life to live and he’s going to live it (and he begs the universe not to hate him for that). This song also has some Rose post meeting Sarah Jane vibes (I don’t wanna be the one left behind)
- Walk Me Home by P!nk - I don’t think I need to explain this one do i? It’s Nine’s feelings about Rose to a T
- Eye of the Storm by ONE OK ROCK - this song practically embodies Nine’s era. Ominous signs and bad luck following you, “Wolves at the door”, but ultimately there’s always hope and things will get better
For the 10th Doctor:
- The Edge of Tonight by All Time Low - lots of Rose and 10 feels, “I can’t breathe without you near, you keep me safe, you keep me sane” kinda just sums up how 10 feels about Rose.
- Ghost of a Rose by Blackmore’s Night - you can probably guess from the name what this one makes me think of right?
- i love you by Billie Eilish - 10 and his “I can’t spend the rest of my life with you” mentality that keeps him from being able to admit he loves Rose
For the 11th Doctor:
- DARKSIDE by Neoni - specifically, this one makes me think of the Eleven and the Dream Lord in Amy’s Choice
For the 13th Doctor:
- The Downfall by Ruelle - she’s just found out that her whole life is a lie and has no idea what to think
For the Doctor in general (no specific incarnation):
- Don’t Think Just Run by Beth Crowley - it’s fun and really fits the whole don’t stop, make it up as you go along lifestyle the Doctor lives
- It’s Time by Imagine Dragons - has really strong regeneration vibes with the chorus about getting a bit bigger but remaining who I am. Plus the idea of not really wanting to leave reminds me a lot of the first Doctor talking about how one day he and Susan will return to Gallifrey
- Hold the Line (feat. ARIZONA) by Avicii - listen to it and tell me that this doesn’t fit the Doctor to a T, I dare you
- Change by Kimia Penton - another song that reminds me of regeneration, but this one is more about how the companions respond to it
- Run by OneRepublic - this song is the Doctor’s whole mentality on life honestly
- Ghost of You by Selena Gomez & the Scene - regeneration vibes again; this time the Doctors thoughts on how the ghost of past incarnations influence who they are now
- Takes Me Nowhere by the Offspring - the Doctor (post time war) and his guilt complex
For the Master:
- Meet Your Master by Nine Inch Nails - you cannot convince me that the Simms Master wouldn’t have blasted this on the Valiant’s loudspeakers at some point
- Drumming Song by Florence + the Machine - lots of Missy vibes frankly
- Genghis Khan by Miike Snow - if you haven’t seen it before please watch the music video. It is an ExperienceTM. Tell me it doesn’t scream the Master and the Doctor and their weird relationship. Especially Thirteen and Dhawan’s Master.
- Kristy, Are You Doing Ok? by The Offspring - This is almost an Academy Era song to me? Early days of how the Master and the Doctor started to fall apart as friends.
- Fix You by TheOffspring - both the Doctor and the Master wish they could “fix” the other, both of them ultimately know it’s not possible but they try anyway
For various Companions:
- Rose: Fire in the Rain by Måns Zelmerlöw - I think this song perfectly sums up how Rose feels about the Doctor and travelling in the Tardis
- Clara: Highwayman by Johnny Cash - Clara and her many echoes
- Jamie McCrimmon: The Battle’s O’er by Andy Stewart - it’s a short and bittersweet song about Scottish soldiers who returned home and those who didn’t. I think I it fits the mood of how Jamie was returned to his home time without his memories of the Doctor very well
- Companions in general: Into the Storm by BANNERS
- the Tardis: You’re My Home by Billy Joel
Also you should look up Legs Nose Robinson and Chameleon Circuit. Both artists create music based on Doctor Who and it is brilliant.
I need recommendations for my Doctor Who playlist any suggestions?
