A study of Zeke's role in Levihan fanfiction
(Levihan filter on, obviously)
I want to talk about Zeke as portrayed in the various fics I've read. When Zeke shows up in a Levihan story, his role is of a love rival to Levi, courting Hange and making him jealous (and I eat it up every single time without fail). It's unrequited more often than not, Hange is usually creeped out by him, it's so funny to read.
I love that trope, okay? I love it because there is nothing in canon that suggests a romantic attraction on Zeke's part towards Hange. Zeke isn't even interested in romance, he wants to die and take everyone down with him, romance is the last thing in his mind. He even asks Armin why people would want to have kids. He just doesn't understand it.
He and Hange don't even interact! I don't remember seeing them talking, maybe they've exchanged a few words, but nothing deep about their beliefs that would build some semblance of a connection between them.
BUT. I sincerely believe that under different circumstances, Zeke would be infatuated with Hange. I mean, strong independent intelligent scientist who built those deadly thunder spears and accumulated knowledge about the titans with barely any resources and primitive technology?? If Zeke wasn't so depressed, he'd be head over heels for Hange.
What's more, ever since I found out that Hange is four years older than Zeke, I picture him having this schoolboy celebrity crush on her because she's just so cool and awesome, and he's interested in science. Their views and methods are different and they wouldn't agree on anything if they were in the same team, but for now he wants to talk to her about science.
And it's not one author who has assigned the role of the love rival to Zeke! It's agreed within a (not small) portion of the Levihan fandom. Someone saw that blond disaster nerd and said "y know what? This one would crush on Hange so hard, he's a serious rival" and we all said yes without missing a beat because even though it's not canon, it just makes sense.
(this isn't a Zekehan post, I mostly took the chance to talk about how awesome Hange is, and how Zeke would see it and totally have a crush on her, interested in science as they both are. Therefore despite him not having canonical interest in romance, this just works for me.)
Maybe in an AU, when Eren goes to Marley and meets Zeke in the hospital, Zeke kind of directs the conversation towards Hange and asks stuff about her. And Eren just stares at him deadpan because yeah, no, Hange's taken mate. (and he wouldn't let his brother hit on his adoptive mother commander)
Consequentially, Levi's hatred towards Zeke is fuelled by annoyance because Zeke lowkey wants to fangirl to Hange about her accomplishments in Paradis while she was locked in the walls. Hange is super not interested, seeing as he killed Erwin, but she ends up talking to him because he knows about titans. Levi glares daggers at Zeke the whole time and pulls Hange out of there first chance he gets. (I live for jealous slightly possessive Levi, like a disgruntled cat)
In conclusion: I'm all in for love rival Zeke if he makes Levi jealous (and if Hange low-key or high-key doesn't want to be there, it's so funny watching her being all stiff around him) because it makes sense

Post-War Levihan Idea [No. 4]
TW: Suicidal thoughts, gaslighting (self-gaslighting)
Levi didn't look when Hange left. He wouldn't meet their eyes, he just touched his fist to their heart and gave them his forgiveness for leaving. He never quite said farewell, not to them, at least, nor did he see what it was that his squad was crying about as the plane took off. Eyes downcast, he said only this: "So long, Hange. Watch over us."
Levihan lenses on. Let's investigate, shall we? Levi doesn't know how Hange died. He never saw them fight, never saw them burn, he has no idea of their last words. In the depths of his wildest nightmares, Hange dies over and over and over. In thousands of ways. Crushed beneath the feet of the titans, knocked into the ocean where they drowned, shredded to bits by their hands, roasted and charred alive as they had been. Had they cried? Had they felt alone in that last flicker of life? Had they smiled, or had they screamed? What had his squad seen, for them to be reacting like that? Levi jolts awake every morning, brittle and half-crumbling beneath the weight of the responses that his mind provides.
But then again, Levi has no clue how Hange died. He didn't see their wounds, didn't watch the light flicker from their eyes. He didn't see the pain. Their last moments in his mind? Unconfirmed. And how does Captain Levi Ackerman document soldiers who are unconfirmed to be alive or dead?
Missing in action.
So Levi is wheelchair-bound, broken, exhausted, falling apart, and alone save for this single soul who went missing. Well, what was it again that everyone kept telling him? Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie. Even Onyankapon, now. Oh, yes: "You've done enough to help us, Captain. Rest now, and live for yourself."
So he does. And he chooses to spend his life searching for his lost friend, his Hange.
In the initial idea, Levi was hallucinating once again (this account has been over his hallucinations, but it's not done yet). He's sad and depressed and has nothing to live for anymore, so his Monkey Brain has to design something to keep him going.
He lays in bed some nights, unable to fall asleep, even after Falco came by and made him tea. Even after Onyankapon embarrassed them both by trying to set him to sleep with a story. Even after Gabi sang, albeit terribly, to try to soothe him. He just pretends at that point, afraid to be a burden, until they go away and his eyes pop right back open. The thoughts run rampant, then, when his mind conjures up the ghosts of his loved ones, their bloodied and bruises corpses staring back with empty eyes.
"Wouldn't it be better if I just died, right here? Nobody would have to come by anymore, or see me in this pathetic state, pushing myself in a wheelchair because I can't stand for even a half hour. I wouldn't have to wake up anymore, go to physical therapy, try to feel happy when there's nothing for me to be happy about. We made it to the end, didn't we? Why can't I rest?"
"Why would you rest?" He sees for the first time that Hange isn't there. The voice is a hush in his ear, but still it overtakes the volume of his thoughts. "Hange is missing from you. Where is Hange, Levi?"
He stiffens. "Hange is gone."
"Gone where?"
"Gone..." Levi is baffled into a scowl. He really, really doesn't want to think about that. He doesn't want to cry himself to sleep. "Just gone. Shut up and let me sleep."
But he swears he hears their voice, low and deep in the air. "I haven't been gone that long, clean freak. Don't you remember me?"
Levi jolts, wide awake.
Where is it coming from? The curtains billow, as though disturbed by the sky's cold breath, yet he feels no breeze. Hange's voice comes again. "What have I been trying to teach you this whole time?"
Lightning flashes outside his balcony, then the night is invading. Pressing into his bedroom from every crack in the walls, from the balcony, the slit beneath the door, rushing in like water. It's a typhoon of indigo, speckled with light, and it twists and whirls until it's sunken into the shapes and curves of Hange's body.
He's been here before. "The paths," Levi and Hange both say.
Hange grins. "I didn't know how else to find you."
"But you found me." Levi blinks several times, shakes his head like a dog, but they're there. Hidden in a cloak of night, but they're there. He feels his eyes welling up and he swipes at them quickly. He wants to see.
"I don't think I can stay for long." Their voice reverbrates in the cavern of the bedroom. "But we'll see each other again, won't we? You'll come find me. You always do."
"That's not possible. You're gone."
Hange's gaze softens. "I'm right here, Levi."
A tear slips down his cheek. He can't believe they're making him say it out loud, and he hates how helpless it makes him sound. How small he feels when it's out in the open. "You're gone."
Hange regards him, quiet for once. "You don't believe that. I refuse to believe that I didn't rub off on you. You have more hope than that, Levi. Even in this hopeless world." Their fingers brush his, and he's shocked by the flush of warmth their touch brings. "I know it. I came all this way to find you, didn't I?
"The least you could do is find me, too."
Levi jolts, wide awake.
He stares at his ceiling in a cold sweat. He feels as though he's being torn in two directions. On one hand, Hange was gone. They had to be gone. He'd gone through all this pain, knowing they were gone. To delve back into the past was to undo all he'd fought for since they'd left.
But what if they weren't gone? What if they really were out there, broken bodied and half-alive, but alive? It was difficult to think about either way, but could there be a possibility?
Levi recalls their voice, their touch, their reminder. He turns over his thoughts in his mind one last time, then pulls himself out of bed. He can't stay for long, after all.
Hange is waiting.
-----
At some point, I transitioned into fictional writing. Hopefully that made sense. Anyway:
So, deep down, he knows himself well enough to trick himself. He's always been a hero. He can get up if it means he'll be someone's hero, because Captain Levi is Captain Levi, and who is Levi, if not the person who feeds others when he's still hungry himself?
And to be Hange's hero, when they've saved him so much? When they came to him, warm as a hearth and inviting as a home, like no one ever had before? It isn't even up for discussion. He'll do it.
After all, what did he dedicate his heart to?
End Note: I think in some languages, the verb "to miss" is kind of translated directly like "You are missing from me." The source was likely a delusion, but that in mind, this may just be Levi missing Hange to a big, big extent.

how do you think a Levihan marriage proposal would happen? (who would do it, would they have planned to propose or would it be something of the moment?)
Thank you for the ask sunny! I had so much fun with this one 💜💚
I love thinking up scenarios about the levihan proposal! While there are too many I have in mind, there’s only two headcanons that I’d consider rational (Cuz the others are something like my fic Experiments and Feelings or yours Mrs Ackerman (is after your sanity), or that I basically consider them married from somewhere around the time Wall Maria fell).
The first one would be if Hange survived the war (which she did, no one says otherwise):
So technically, Hanjo confessed or sort-of proposed first here when they were both in the forest. Levi doesn’t give her a proper answer because Eren’s going berserk with the Rumbling and they gotta get a hold of their brat (as responsible parents it’s their duty) and she understands cuz she gets Levi and he gets her and she knows she’s being rash
They reach the port, prepare the plane and things are starting to look up so he answers her proposal with a yes—but this is Levi Ackerman we’re talking about and he’s clumsy when it comes to romance. So he goes about it the childish way and hides it in taunts about her love for titans. This time it’s Hange who changes the subject, not as a rejection but a reminder that they’re not out of the woods yet
The Rumbling approaches and Hange decides to buy time but of course she’s smart and uses that head of hers to whip up a safe way to get them time rather than getting herself burnt (as she would have in canon if Isayama wasn’t hell bent on killing her)
So she comes back on the plane without injuries or burns, she’s totally fine and the relief Levi feels in seeing her is so overwhelming he has to lie down to stop his head spinning. And he realises he needs her to stay alive even through their final charge and when she meets his eye he knows she’s thinking the same.
War ends, peace prevails. Levihan retire and travel the world cuz Hange can’t sit still. They don’t talk about the forest or the port, they don’t know how to. Not now when everything’s much calmer, they’re not used to this kind of thing.
But there’s an unspoken commitment between them, they’re ‘together’. Eventually they build a cabin in the forest but just living there is a monotonous routine neither of them are used to. So they still travel around but when they need a break they use their cabin, stay there for weeks or months.
They visit the town and the market whenever they're staying, and people get to know them and they ask if they’re living together then are they married? They often try to explain that yes they live together but they’re not married. Are they lovers? They don’t know how to answer that cuz they never defined their relationship, she’s Hange, he’s Levi, isn’t that enough? Their vague answers leave several elderly people confused and giving them weird glances and having people whisper and mutter. But they don’t care, they’ve been through hell and what people say doesn’t matter anymore
It’s Levi who addresses the thing, he suggests they get married. He’s not one for words so I never thought he’d give long speeches to propose. Levi had given marriage thought and it felt like a nice concept, Hange was never one for labels, so she never thought much on it, just happy with what they had
But then he asks her, quietly, almost timidly and there’s a slightest blush on his cheeks and he’s fidgeting and Hange just finds it adorable. But she wants to tease him a bit so she says sure but why and then he only mutters, “It’ll shut up the townspeople. And newlyweds get discounts in the market.” And she just laughs, “Sure Levi, I’ll marry you so we can get the discounts.”
He tugs her ponytail and grumbles that she knows it’s not the only reason. Hange pesters him until he huffs out a quiet “It’s ‘cause I love you, you moron.” He doesn’t say that too often (emotionally constipated midget) but he repeats it now, looking right into her eyes and asking her to marry him. And she’s laughing and pink in the face when she says yes
The second one being around the time when Hange was commander:
Only when they come back from Shiganshina does the implications of what Levi had done hit him fully. Hange is now standing under the weight of the Survey Corps and the future of Eldia. It changes her, and Levi doesn’t like it, not one bit.
She doesn’t smile like she used to, her laughter is curt, forced and not the carefree cackle he used to hear, the one that made him think she had wings and was soaring. In my mind, they already love each other, they know and have confessed long ago. They had to make the most of what they had and time for companionship was a luxury with death hanging over so close. So they’d thought, why the fuck not? We die today or in ten years at least our hearts will be in peace.
But this, this is different. Hange isn’t dead, but she reeks of it. And that terrifies him. So he does what he can, he holds her when she’s cracking and stands beside her when she’s struggling to meet the gaze of the world. He knows the old Hange won’t be back now.
And he realises how much he truly loves her, how much he needs her in his life. Even when she’s like this. He doesn’t care whether she’s shouting his ears off about titans or talking diplomacy with heavy eyes, she’s Hange and that’s all he wants from her.
And Levi’s not the only one feeling like that. Hange thinks about them a lot, thinks how she’s there for him and he’s there for her. And she knows that matters. She notices weddings in the towns, sees couples tie the knot for life and she feels like it’s not a bad idea. Sharing the highs and lows of life with someone.
But she’s commander and the world needs her and it’d be selfish. So she drops it (but she can’t and the urge keeps rising, and it makes her think why? She and Levi are already committed to each other, what will a simple stamp of marriage change? She doesn’t get it, but she knows she wants it.)
Levi’s the one to propose (once again). It’s not fancy, there aren’t a lot of words, there aren’t even flowers or a ring. Only parchment, paper and ink stained fingers, a cup of tea and sunlight in her office.
And the words, “Oi shitty-glasses, let’s get married.”
She laughs at first, devoid of humour, then she tells him they can’t. It’ll be selfish, Paradis needs her. He just raises a brow and says, “We’re practically already married and seeing as the situation of Paradis hasn’t gone to shit any more than it already had, I don’t see how sealing our relation with some vows and rings will change things.”
She agrees, they get married in a span of twenty minutes in their uniforms and are called in for a meeting afterwards. Levi was right, nothing has changed really.
But he wears this soft almost-smile for the whole day and Hange is laughing for the first time in months. Levi even goes slack in training the soldiers and the 104th are all betting on what could’ve happened to the captain. Jean suggests that maybe he found some new cleaning technology in all the stuff Hizuru’s engineers brought in. Sasha thinks he found a stash of exotic tea leaves. It’s Armin who wins in the end, and everyone’s left shocked—not because they can’t believe Hange-san and the captain are together, but because they thought they were already married long ago.
Weeks later when Hange plans to infiltrate Marley and she’s done talking to the 104th, Levi pulls her aside and says with all the deadpan, “You’re seriously planning our honeymoon in a country that wants to kill us on sight? Couldn't it be someplace peaceful like the goddamn beach?” And she just grins back at him like, “What’s the fun in that?”
So yeah they got duties, and their country needs them and everything. But they’re married in it doesn’t really make things worse, in fact Hange smiles a bit easy and Levi feels a bit better and that’s all that matters.
(This was longgg but I hope you enjoyed it! )

also im just thinking about post-rumbling levihan...i think they wouldn't be a big fan of pda, but whenever hange returns from an extended business trip she would always greet levi with a tight hug at the arrival dock (levi always insists on picking her up there). it has become a couple tradition for them.
and there was this one time when levi was unable to pick her up so she would meet levi at their house instead. but, by the time she reached home, it was already late and levi was getting ready to go to bed. and since levi had already showered by then and she had gotten a lot more mindful of personal hygiene after the war, she didn't want to hug him in her sweaty state. but levi, expecting a hug this entire time, interpreted this as hange being mad at him for not picking her up at the arrival dock.
"sorry, four-eyes." he said. and hange's all like "for what? oh. that you couldn't pick me up? i told you to not worry about it."
but levi didn't buy it and internally he was all WHY WON'T YOU HUG ME but heaven forbid his emotionally-constipated mouth from voicing such things out.
they stayed silent for a while before hange finally understood what's going on. "oh god, levi. i'm so sorry. i haven't showered. that's why..."
levi stared at her in disbelief because never did he expect hange to become more mindful of cleanliness than him. "don't be stupid." he said as he pulled her into a hug.
hange laughed into his shoulder as she hugged him back. "YOU don't be stupid, can't believe you think i was actually angry at you."
levi said nothing, burying his face into hange and feeling all the tension in his body dissipate. he didn't realise how much he needed hange in his arms up till this moment.

hi i have a question can you give me some levihan headcanons as a couple in modern au?
OMG anon so sorry for not responding to you sooner! I had to sort out my thoughts first because modern AU is not something that comes naturally to me. But anyway, after doing some meditation, I managed to put my incomprehensible thoughts into words… A little too much maybe… I hope you don’t mind 2.5k words of pure nonsense hc from my silly brain.
P. S I know you asked for an established relationship, but I just could not help but also write about how they met (yeah, I’m a sucker for meet cute and imagining my OTP falling in love in various universes).
Anyway, enjoy this long ass headcanon of Levihan’s friends-to-lovers modern au with a sprinkle of university au and a dash of sports romance genre!
Levi and Hange first meet each other at university. Hange is in her 2nd semester (studying Biology) and has an academic scholarship while Levi is in his 8th semester (studying finance) and has an athletic scholarship (yeah, they are THE couple).
One day a fire alarm suddenly goes off in their university building, and so Hange alongside other students on the seventh floor immediately go toward the emergency exit to evacuate.
Hange is oddly calm during the whole ordeal, but she unfortunately gets stuck in the middle of a panicking crowd. She tries to escape the chaos, but her attempt sadly causes her ankle to twist because apparently, someone has just stepped on her shoe.
Hange does not scream because she is too shocked to even let out any words. It does not even hurt, at least not until she shelters herself on one of the corners of the emergency stairs, that’s when she realises how impossible it might be for her to save herself in time.
Levi—whose class is on the eighth floor—is one of those people who acted way too calmly during dangerous situations. He waits calmly near the emergency exit’s door until he can see that the crowds have settled down.
When he finally “escapes” he notices a girl who is limping as she descends the stairs very slowly. She is holding a shoe in her hand while she tries to not put any pressure on the sole of her bare foot.
Levi approaches her as he understands her condition. Without thinking, he offers to give her a piggyback ride. Hange refuses but he insists. He tells her that he doesn’t want to be responsible for someone’s death.
Therefore, Hange has no choice but to agree and she is quite impressed that he manages to walk down the stairs while carrying her without breaking any sweat.
When she sees her face earlier, she thinks that his face is familiar, but she can’t put her finger on it until he brings her to the university’s clinic. She hears one of the nurses call him “Ackerman”. That is when Hange realises that he is a professional athlete who won an Olympic gold medal in tennis at the young age of 20.
Just like that, the pain in her ankle suddenly disappears as her demeanour is quickly replaced by a more excited face. She tells him that she has watched his match on TV several times and she thinks he is so cool.
Levi has heard many people praising him that he can quickly recognise the difference between people who say it just to earn his attention and the people who say it genuinely because they like his play, and he instantly knows that Hange is the latter.
However, before Hange can thank him, Levi is told to leave by a nurse because some more people—who pass out due to the shock—begin to fill the clinic.
He later regrets the fact that he did not even ask for her name.
To his surprise though, a few days later, Levi finds Hange waiting in front of his class. She says she wants to thank him for saving her. She gives him a brochure of a medical museum that belongs to the university, and she invites him to come, saying that she will be his museum guide.
Despite Levi knowing that her offer is sort of an odd way of showing “gratitude”, he accepts it without even thinking about it.
During their museum “date”, Hange excitedly walks him through almost all the collections in the museum. She seems to know everything and so Levi is convinced that she must have eaten an encyclopaedia for breakfast that day.
Levi does not really care about science but the way her eyes sparkle in passion every time she speaks does make him reconsider his earlier judgment about museums and science. They are much more interesting than what he remembers from high school.
After their museum “date” he suddenly asks whether she wants to come to watch him play next week. Usually, his mother will come to watch but she can’t that day because she must chaperone his seven-year-old cousin on a field trip.
Hange answers yes without skipping a beat, and so Levi ends up asking for her phone number so he can give her the ticket for the match.
Hange can’t take her eyes off him during the match, and she is practically swooned by him by the end of it.
Truthfully though, they are already attracted to each other right from their first meeting, but Hange believes that she just admires him for his talent as an athlete. Meanwhile, Levi—despite being aware from the get-go that he likes her—believes that she isn’t interested in him (idiots in love, you know the drill)
YET, despite it all, they gradually start to become even closer to each other. They text each other every day and they will often have lunch at the canteen together when they can. Then, somehow along the way, they just became inseparable.
Their favourite place to be together is the library! Levi will work on his thesis while Hange works on her assignments, papers, or studying for many of the academic competitions that she participates in. However, he quickly found out that she is actually quite distracting even when she is not saying anything.
Hange will come to watch Levi every time he has a practice match nearby and then they will grab a dinner together after that. She has come too many times that the coach and some other athletes recognise and befriend her.
Before he knows it, glancing in her direction before he starts his match has become his routine. Something that he keeps doing for years to come.
Levi will wait for her class to be over then he will walk her to the bus stop. He will wait until her bus is gone from his sight.
Sadly, their little “hangouts” don’t last long though since he graduates a few months later.
It is during his graduation that she meets Kuchel for the first time! Hange introduces herself as Levi’s friend but of course, mother knows best. Since Kuchel comes alone, there is still another seat for Levi’s family in the auditorium, so she invites Hange to accompany her throughout the whole ceremony.
Levi is surprised when he spots his mother sitting with Hange, but he can’t hide his joy when he notices how much her mother likes Hange.
When the ceremony is finished, Kuchel goes to ask someone to take a photo of the three of them together. She also takes a photo of both Hange and Levi together. If you look closely at their photo, you can see Levi being subtly flustered in all of their pictures.
After that, Kuchel invites Hange to come for dinner someday at their house, which Hange complies gladly. And so, a few weeks later Hange comes for dinner at the Ackerman’s house and that is when she meets Levi’s uncle, Kenny.
She is shocked to see Kenny there because Levi’s uncle is none other than a guy who almost “killed” her in high school. The story goes like this: 15-year-old Hange was riding her bike one day right after school when Kenny’s car suddenly struck her from behind. Fortunately, she only suffered minor injuries and he was responsible enough to pay for the medical bills as well as saying, “Yeah, I guess I’m sorry,” to her parents.
Levi realises that he is also at the same hospital right at the same time as Hange because he was asked by Kenny to bring the wallet that he had left at home—something that Kenny eventually used to pay for Hange’s medical bills. They could have met back then, but he is glad that they met much later in life.
Kenny also recognises her as the girl that he almost killed but he jokingly remarks that it is just a work of fate that she gets to meet her boyfriend’s uncle way before the two of them officially meet.
They both deny the “boyfriend” claim, but it is during that moment that Hange realises her true feelings. Like she goes, “OMG do I want to be him to be my boyfriend?!!!! OH SHIT I GUESS I DO!”
After that, she becomes shy around him out of the blue which confuses Levi. He begins to think that his connection to Kenny might have bothered her. Levi, desperately not wanting her to hate him, invites her to an arcade.
Hange obviously has a lot of fun there. She is smiling and laughing, she is glowing with pure happiness that makes Levi come to a realisation that he would be so grateful if he could see her smile every day for the rest of his life.
During their walk home, Hange can’t stop thanking him for her wonderful day at the arcade. But Levi is still slightly worried that she might still hold some grudges against his uncle, but before he can ask about it, Hange cuts him with a question, “Hey, do you want to go out?”
Levi definitely does not see that one coming. It is so out of the blue and it shocks him so greatly to the point that he almost walks into a streetlamp.
But of course, he wants to, duh! So yeah, they officially became a couple after that.
Hange invites Levi to meet her parents not too long after that and well it’s quite easy for their parents to accept him when they can see how happy their daughter is when he is around her.
Hange’s father, who has a hobby of collecting antique cameras, is the one who introduces Levi to photography. He even gives Levi one of his old cameras for him to try, and it does not take long before his camera is full of Hange’s pictures.
Regarding their relationship, since they become busier with their own stuff (Hange with uni and Levi with his professional tennis career), they do not really go out together as often as before. However, they try to always make time to be with each other during important moments. For example: Hange rarely skips watching Levi’s match, be it from the arena or the live streaming. Likewise, Levi seldom misses any exhibition or competition that Hange participates in. He even reads all the articles that Hange had written for many journals.
Generally, they like to keep their relationship private. They are the kind of chill couple who rarely show PDA. But I do think Hange might hug him occasionally when she’s happy (maybe when they haven’t seen each other for a while).
Hange moves into Levi’s apartment after she graduates from uni. However, long before that, she has had plenty of sleepovers there. She has already left some of her stuff in Levi’s apartment, so she does not really pack much when she eventually moves in.
Hange works as a botanist at a pharmaceutical company, and she is considering taking a master’s degree in the near future.
She has a much more flexible—albeit packed—work schedule while Levi has a much more rigid schedule as he has to train six days a week at the gym with his coach. As a result, they begin to have less time together.
However, they understand that they don’t need to meet often. They have deep trust in each other, so their relationship is pretty much secure and low maintenance. Though out of the two, Levi is the one who tends to miss her presence the most.
Hange is the one who overshares, and Levi is the one who will gladly listen to anything that she has to say about.
Hange is also the touchy one! They will be sitting next to each other on the couch watching TV, and in the next few minutes, Hange has already put her head on his shoulder and squeezed his hand.
The first thing that he notices after she moves in is the fact that he will have to listen to Hange and be touched by Hange 24/7 until he dies. But somehow it does not bother him at all. In fact, all he can think about is, “Ok, I guess this is my life now,” with a smile on his face.
Levi enjoys cleaning Hange’s stuff! Hange will sometimes go to work with her laptop and shoes suddenly spotless and shining. However, his ultimate favourite thing to clean is her glasses because he gets to see her beautiful eyes HAHA.
Hange has a hobby of gardening so their apartment is quickly filled up with many potted plants (each one has a name!). She also makes a mini garden on their balcony.
Most of the day, Levi is the first one to wake up since he has to go to train early at the gym, but he always has the time to prepare breakfast for both Hange and him before he leaves. Hange usually wakes up right before Levi leaves, and she will always kiss him on the cheek as a good luck charm.
When Hange has to work in her lab, she tends to work until late in the night so Levi will come to pick her up if he can.
Despite their busy schedules, they always try to at least have dinner together every day. Sometimes when Hange works from home, she will either make a dinner or order something for both of them.
They also try to have lunch or dinner with their whole family (Kuchel and Hange’s parents) every month or every two months. Mostly at their place but sometimes at Kuchel’s house or the Zoë’s house.
They rarely argue. If they do, it is mostly out of their love and care for each other. Levi will sometimes get so worried for Hange that Hange starts to feel that he becomes too micromanaging of her while Hange will sometimes get too engrossed in her work that Levi feels forgotten by her.
Their argument won’t last more than a day though since being away from each other is much more miserable than being together. I feel like they care more about each other than they care about their own ego.
I like to imagine Hange as this one post on Reddit about “I have the biggest crush on my husband.” I mean, that’s so Hange-coded LMAO. I mean, despite having been in a relationship for so long with Levi, she still acts like she just discovered her feelings for him (blushing, nervous, buzzing heart, being shy when she sees him up close, being excited for their date, etc.).
Levi is definitely a lot softer around her! His voice is lower, his frown is absent, and he likes to affectionally touch her hair. This has become so apparent that people like to point it out to him, which he denies!
They will have a super simple and quick wedding! They just wear their best clothes as they register their marriage. Then they invite their closest friends and families to a dinner at a restaurant.
There is no proposal. Hange just casually brings it up one morning to Levi, “Hey, I think we should get married. What do you think?”
It's a good thing that Levi has not yet drunk his tea when she asks that or else the tea could have choked his throat to death.
When they marry, they retain their last name since both of them have prominent careers.
Would they have children? Yeah I like to think they would HAHA
SO YEAH! That’s all that I can think about! Sorry that this has become way too long… I hope you like it Anon! Sorry if you found any typos or mistakes.
Also, thank you so much for sending me this ask! I actually had a lot of fun making (and daydreaming) about levihan in modern AU!

Levihan Headcanon
Whenever they go out for drinks, Hange keeps setting their cup directly on the table, and Levi keeps dragging the coaster around, putting it under their glass.
It's been this way for years and at this point he has just given up and accepted it

Hi! I know this pretty random to ask but can you do a short story about Levi and hange after a fight like an after math of it? [ No rush:) ]
i apologize for how long this took!! there were so many things going on in my life, and honestly i don't know how i survived it but i am here!
this is pretty short, but this is compensation for all of us who just saw levi lose hanji :')
A month before the Survey Corps were set to leave for a mission, Levi and Hanji argued over a mission strategy. Hanji wanted to focus on capturing a titan for research, but Levi expressed how it would be too risky. Even for him. But the brilliant scientist felt it was worth the risk for the discovery they could achieve.
It was Hanji who went off first. Her anger got the best of her. A week ago, Hanji opened up about feeling uneasy around Petra, but Levi brushed it off because Petra was like a sister to him. Levi tried reasoning out logically with the strategy because he had no idea she was still thinking about their interaction a week ago. This got Hanji even more provoked because it was as if he did not understand where she was coming from. To her, she felt unheard by the one person she knows would always hear her out. Walking out, Hanji decided she should distance herself from him.
For days, the two stubborn soldiers avoided each other, not wanting to confront the issue. However, the tension between them was palpable, even Moblit felt uneasy having to watch his squad leader frown during their time together in the laboratory.
Levi waited for her to approach him first. His disagreement came from a place of protectiveness. Watching Hanji in battle warms his heart because he knows it is what makes her happy, but he cannot help but fear her safety. One evening, he finally gathered the strength to approach his lover, finding her alone on the rooftop of their barracks, gazing out into the distance.
Levi heaved a sigh, and sat next to her. "Eight days," he said softly. “I have not talked to you for eight days.”
Silence filled the air, Hanji still irritated and hurt by their argument.
Levi exhaled, and started again, "Four eyes, it took me eight days to realize." He paused, looking at her face glowing under the moonlight. “I apologize for brushing you off when you opened up about Petra, I know it takes courage to let me know about it because, to you, it sounds childish to be jealo-”
“I was not jealous,” the brunette finally spoke.
“Tsk, stop being so stubborn.” He flicked her forehead lightly, “There is nothing wrong with feeling that way, Hanji. I feel that too with Moblit, but know that nothing is going to make my love for you waver. I have lost so many soldiers in battle, but you’re the one comrade I cannot lose. I can numb the pain from losing them, but there is no anesthesia that could desensetize me when you leave me.”
Hanji chuckled, “since when have you been so romantic, hm?”
“Four-eyes,” he warned.
The scientist broke into laughter and squeezed him in a tight hug, “I’m okay, Levi. We’re okay. We always will be.”
The two sat there in comfortable silence, enjoying the presence of the other. Grateful that no matter what, they always have each other.

Levi and Season 4 Hange's Physique: Headcannons and Unskillfully Waxing Poetic
This is a bit more... scandalous than most things I tend to put on this blog, so maybe a warning is in order, but it is mildly thirsty, I guess?
Since becoming commander, Hange often found themselves indoors more than out, sitting down behind a desk instead of moving around. They hated it, and there was also the small matter of becoming out of shape. To combat this, they started focusing more on their physical training than when they had taken it for granted due to easy access, emphasizing weight training.
Levi notices it first when the two of them are descending a staircase. He doesn't like to touch the balustrade, he knows it's germy from the touch of unwashed hands, so he always tucks his hand into the nook of Hange's arm to balance himself. It's during one of these moments that he notices the firm muscle beneath the cloth of Hange's trench coat, and from then on, he starts noticing other things as well.
Like when Hange brushes their hair back with their fingers and ties it back carelessly, an effortless bird's nest puffing up at the back of their head that Levi hates. Or better yet, when they're missing a hair band and they twist their hair incomprehensibly around a pen or a chopstick. Or during late nights together, they're delirious with exhaustion and let their hair fall loose around the cut of their jaw.
He notices the broadening of their shoulders, how it makes their hips seem more slender, and how the softer parts of their body fill out their clothes more now since the Survey Corps had begun eating better.
Levi might grab Hange by the arm one day, in that usual stern manner of his, and come to the obvious fact that the width of his hand doesn't encompass the circumference of their bicep.
He'll come to be suddenly hyper aware of several other painfully obvious facts, such as the fact that when Hange rolls up the sleeves of their button down, their forearms are bare, or that Hange has a good amount of height on him when they stand face to face. Or that they wear glasses, which he's known for years, he make fun of them for goodness sake, so why is he noticing it now?
In short, he's just sexually attracted to Hange. Aesthetic wise, perhaps. But he loves tall people, and suddenly he's noticing how much taller Hange is than him, so it was safe to say that something was happening just underneath the surface. It would be very frustrating for him, too, and hilariously so.

I am very sorry but I just realised that Hange's birthday is coming up and I HAD to know...
How would she spend it? Does she value her birthday or is it just another exciting day for her? And what does Levi do for her birthday? Does he gift her anything?
I know it's very late and it's already been days since Hange's birthday but I just got time to post this T_T
Thanks for this @sunflowersunite!! 🥰
Here's my little levihan headcanon for how Hange's birthday would've gone in the Scouts
So levi notices in his early years in the scouts that how Hange always remembers his birthday, and Erwin's and all her close friends and comrades and she takes out time to wish each of them and even gets gifts if she can. But when it comes to her birthday, he never sees anyone doing anything other than wishing her.
It confuses him at first how four-eyes goes around making his and Erwin's, mike's and Nana's and even her squad's days special. A small gift here, an invitation of drinks there, it's simple but she does it.
So why the fuck does no one ever do anything for her?
He asks Erwin, who doesn't give a convincing answer, then her squad who simply tells him she doesn't like to celebrate it.
And that just confuses him even more cuz Hange is anything but not festive. Turns out her squad never got a direct answer from her. She was knee deep in research when they barged in and wished her and suggested they go visit the town or something
And she just waved a hand dismissively and said, "Yes very nice, now move along I'm busy." And they never went anywhere that day, and after that her squad assumed she didn't prefer to celebrate so they would just wish her and that was it.
The thing is she doesn't always remember her special day, it slips her mind - there's a lot to do already and somehow it's just too much of a hassle, there's better stuff to do than celebrating. Or sometimes she even forgets about it.
That is until levi comes along.
September approaches and four-eyes wouldn't stop whining about wanting to eat something sweet, and at first Levi can't stand it. But then it turns out to be the perfect thing to gift her.
He makes chocolates himself for her and informs her squad and his that they're celebrating whether she likes it or not. Since she never gave him a choice at his birthday either, this is payback (or so he tells them).
The night before her birthday he knocks her out and makes sure she's bathed and clean. And in the morning he strides into her lab with his trademark brooding face and slaps the box of chocolates on her face (yes I'm aware he originally makes it for her on valentine's day, but this seems like a nice idea too).
And he states in a bored voice, "Happy birthday dumbass."
And then their squads burst in and wish her and hug her and there's also Erwin and Mike and Nanaba and they've got little gifts for her like books or herbs or some lab equipment
And Erwin orders her that they'd be heading over for drinks in the evening so she better get everything done before then
They go as promised and Hange can't stop smiling and grinning the whole time. And she looks knowingly at Levi and thanks him for doing all this. And he pretends the blush on his cheeks is from the beer.
They don't have such grand celebrations every year, there's no time to catch a break or things aren't going so well since it's the survey corps and things go to shit most of the time, but Levi always gives her something or the other on her birthdays. Erwin does too most of the time.
From Levi, it could be a bunch of weird flowers she'd wanted to study, or some strange trinket he thought she could pull apart and do something with, or sometimes even a book. The best gift he gave her was a couple of titans for her research and she'd screamed in delight for fifteen minutes straight.
She named them Chikatilo and Albert of course

LEVIHAN NATION it’s been a long time coming but I have something for yall… (no new art sorry) this is a headcanon that has made itself comfortable in my mind for quite some time now. WARNING VERY CHEESY AND MUSHY
Imagine, post-rumbling, Hange survives and fulfills her cottagecore dreams with Levi, but she frequently gets called to go on business trips to Marley and Azumabito and even other parts of the world to facilitate peace talks. Despite Hange’s incessant requests and their mutual separation anxiety, which developed as a consequence of what happened the last time they stayed apart from each other for a prolonged period of time (cough zeke cough wine cough forest), Levi chooses to remain at home instead of tagging along due to his mobility issues.
Nonetheless, Levi secretly wishes that he can see the world with Hange, and in spite of his attempt to keep up a facade of nonchalance Hange sees RIGHT THROUGH IT. As such, Hange always makes sure to collect souvenirs, snacks, interesting gadgets, tea packets with flavors that Levi has never seen before. and many different kinds of memorabilia for Levi on her trips, in an effort to let him glimpse into what she has been seeing.
On one particular night after an exhausting trip, Hange surprises Levi with a promise ring. She doesn’t know if Levi ever wants to get married, and she doesn’t wish to pressure him, she says. But this is her way of telling him that she is here to stay. Forever.
Levi tears up, and Hange notices that his hands are shaking. She tenses up, unsure if Levi likes the gift or not. But her worry swiftly vanishes when Levi kisses her, all the while smiling against her lips. Her heart soars in delight as she kisses back.
“You idiot,” Levi mumbles lovingly when they break apart.
“I love you.” She giggles as she replies.
“If you wanted to ask if we can get married, you could have just asked.” Levi teases her, to which she replies in surprise. “You want to…?”
“If it’s with you, yes.” He says, in a matter-of-fact tone. The answer is so simple, and yet. “Because I’m in love with you, Four-Eyes.”
OKAY THIS IS VERY CHEESY IM SORRY ANYWAYS I WOULD KILL FOR A FIC LIKE THIS…I JUST LOVE the idea of Levi getting choked up with emotion as Hange presents him with a ring

Shelter from the Rain Vol. 01 Levi & Moblit Berner
Heavy drops of water poured down from an ashen sky to beat against the stone pavement.
"Whoa, there… What should I do now?" said the man as he ran under the store's eaves, his hands full of paper bags. A customer already inside replied to him in a surly voice.
"…It's just a passing shower."
"Captain Levi!" the man said as he tried to give a salute, nearly dropping all his belongings in the process.
"As you were. You… You're Hange's aide, aren't you?"
"Yes, sir! Vice Captain of the Fourth Squad, Moblit Berner."
"Running errands?"
"Yes, buying books and medicine, as well as daily necessities for the Squad Leader… And you, Captain?"
"Erwin summoned me. He said it's not something we can talk about in the barracks."
"…And you're not taking a carriage?"
"They kick up mud whenever they stop."
"I see," Moblit said, recalling that when out of battle, Levi was obsessed with cleanliness.
******
Captain Levi is the complete opposite of Squad Leader. But… I know the two trust one another.
A special kind of bond from spending many years together. It's something that Moblit didn't have with his commanding officer. He felt something similar to envy building inside, but Levi only looked towards the rain clouds and began to talk, almost as if reflecting to himself.
"Must be hard being an aide for someone like that."
"What do you mean?"
"If something interests Hange enough, Hange will ignore everything else--including your life."
"…I consider it as my job to protect my leader at times like that."
"Yeah. It's a job that only you can do."
"Hm…?"
Moblit was unable to fully understand the depth of the words, but Levi continued, his eyes still turned away.
"No matter how far back we go, it's not like we're stuck together all day long. You're the only one who's always by Hange's side, Moblit."
The pouring rain had began to turn into a light drizzle, and the clouds went flying by in the sky.
"Be more confident. I know you can't always stay upbeat, but still."
I see… So he's asking me to keep taking care of Hange.
******
Before they knew it, the rain had disappeared. Sunbeams shone through the clouds to illuminate the two men under the eaves.
"It's cleared up. Now give me those."
"Wait, Captain! You know that one's heavy!"
Levi grabbed one of the paper bags from Moblit's hands and walked into the open. Without so much as looking back, he urged Moblit to do the same.
"We're going back to the same barracks, anyway. It wouldn't be bad to have Hange owe me one."
"…I just hope the Squad Leader notices that you're even there, Captain."
"That's easy enough to solve with a kick in the ass," Levi said.
Walking behind him, Moblit couldn't help but smile as he imagined an embarrassed grin on Captain Levi's face.
