the rain poured harshly, drops the size of coins pelting down mercilessly on anyone who dared to be outside.
you couldn’t see a thing outside of your apartment’s window, the thick blanket of rain not even letting the orange glow from the street lamps diffuse through. humming to yourself, you turned back towards the stove where your ramen had been boiling. smacking your lips in glee, you hovered over the metal pot and watched as your noodles boiled in the thick, bubbly broth.
at the sound of the doorbell, you turned the stovetop to the lowest setting. wiping your hands on your pants, you made your way towards the main door.
upon opening the door, you were met with the sight of your drenched and shivering boyfriend looking at you with droopy eyes. you gasped at his miserable condition and ushered him inside.
“soobin it’s raining so heavily today, you didn’t even tell me you were coming over!” you fussed and sat him down in a big and cushy armchair, “i would’ve picked you up or brought an umbrella to the bus stop.”
“i didn’t want to cause you any trouble”, soobin murmured softly. “and i really need you right now.”
you sighed in concern and gently pushed his wet bangs away from his face. planting a small kiss on his forehead, you cupped his face and smiled at him.
“your needs will never trouble me binnie, i’m always here for you.”
he gave a small smile in appreciation and whispered a ‘thank you’.
you pulled away and started walking towards the kitchen. “go take a shower and freshen up.” pouting at the overcooked noodles you turned the gas off and looked at soobin, “i’ll put out your clothes for you and make you some ramen.”
he only blankly stared at the wall in front of him.
“soobin?”
your voice brought him out of his thoughts and he slowly stood up, “yeah i-i’ll go do that.”
you watched him worriedly as he sluggishly walked towards the bathroom. he seemed so out of it today. you hadn’t seen him so worn out and dejected in a long time. frowning, you started on another fresh batch of ramen for him.
Tumblr media
you were looking through your cupboard for clothes soobin had left from his previous visits when you stopped at the sound of soft sobs coming from the bathroom. as much as you wanted to knock on the door and ask him what was wrong, you decided on giving him privacy. placing his clothes and a towel on the bed, you silently walked away to the kitchen to serve the food.
you had only just finished garnishing the noodles when the soft pattering of feet made you turn around. “take a seat love, i’ve already put your clothes in the washing machine.”
soobin nodded and pulled a chair to sit down. his face lit up when you placed a steaming, hot bowl of ramen right in front of him. he immediately thanked you and dug into the food, making you smile.
a comfortable silence hung between you both, save for the occasional slurping. once you both were done, you picked up the dirty dishes and filled them up with water to be washed later. wiping your hands on a towel you turned back towards soobin.
“so, what do you wanna do now?”
the only response you got was a shrug of his shoulders so you suggested watching a movie since he seemed too tired to do anything else, to which he agreed.
grabbing the neatly folded blankets kept on the sofa, soobin wrapped the both of you in it and shuffled closer to you. you were only twenty minutes through the movie when soobin spoke up.
“i suddenly feel so sleepy.” he rubbed his eyes, “i can barely keep my eyes open.”
you turned to face him and frowned in concern, “you must be exhausted.”
“am i?”, he hummed and fiddled with a loose thread protruding from the blanket.
you smiled and grabbed his hand, “you should lie down and get some sleep.”
he grinned and immediately lay down, his head finding place on your lap. “is this okay?”
you giggled and shifted so you both were in a comfortable position. carding your fingers through his damp hair, you admired his handsome face. the colourful lights from the television danced across his smooth skin, highlighting his features. you couldn’t resist placing a kiss on his forehead which caused his eyes to slowly flutter open.
“oh no, did i wake you up?” you brought a hand to your mouth, “i’m so sorry binnie, go back to sleep.”
he only smiled sleepily at your words and clasped your raised hand, “give me another one.”
you rolled your eyes but complied anyway. at his continuous demands, you peppered soft kisses all over his face; his nose, cheeks(dimples!), eyes and finally a longer one on his lips.
pulling away you tried to look at everything but his eyes, no matter how long you both had been together, he would always make you nervous after intimate moments like this. to make matters worse, you were left a blushing mess at his next words.
“i love you so much.”
finally looking into his eyes that were gazing right back at you, you repeated his words back with a shy smile.
he gave you an adorable smile, his eyes turning into crescents. “i knew i made the right decision by coming over, you’re really my comfort person.”
taking a deep breath, he continued, “i had a horrible day today, i felt like everyone was mad at me because i kept messing everything up.” his smile turned into a sad pout as he recollected the day’s memories.
“i swear, it was like the universe had some sort of grudge against me today.” he winced, “you could literally make an ‘embarrassing fails’ compilation out of today’s events and it would go viral.”
you gave him a sympathetic smile, “i’m sorry you had to go through that, don’t worry about it though everyone has their bad days. it won’t get any worse after today.”
“i really hope so.”
after a moment of looking at you with fond eyes, he broke the silence, “you really brightened up my mood.” he interlocked his fingers with yours, “i love living such simple and comfortable moments with you, you’re the best.”
you beamed at his words, “me too bin, you’re my comfort person as well.” you were glad that you were able to make him forget about his unfortunate day, he seemed more like himself now.
you were broken out of your thoughts when soobin flashed you a cheeky grin.
“how about you give me another kiss, just to ensure i have a good day tomorrow?”

let me tell you how I got this ring
Hyunjae invites you for a nice dinner date at home.
~~~
“Ohhh, that was so good,” you moan, your fork falling on your plate with a clunk. You take a sip of your glass of wine and lean back on your chair. “You really surprised me, Hyunjae, I admit I did not have much expectations from your cooking skills.”
“What?” Hyunjae laughs. “Did you think I would serve you a bowl of instant ramen as a romantic dinner?”
“Pretty much, yes,” you snort. “But like, with egg and garnished, so I could not say you didn’t try,”  you laugh. It’s true - you know he doesn’t really cook and you did not expect anything special when he invited you for a date in his apartment. You know he’s not one for big or romantic gestures, so seeing him make an actual effort put you into a really good mood. Well, the shared bottle of red wine didn’t hurt either.
“Come on, that would be too low even for me. You know, I want to do nice things for you too,” he smiles, reaching for your hand over the table. He intertwines with your fingers and you take a moment to admire how good your and his hand look together. His hands are really pretty, manly, but not too big or brutish, with nice long fingers and they not only look good, they also feel good, which is a knowledge you’re intimately familiar with. He puts his hands on you at any possible opportunity - sometimes he’s content with just touching or holding you, but more often than not he will push and escalate, grabbing you or squeezing, wherever he can reach, until the point you have to stop him, especially when you’re in public. It already happened many times that  you had to slap his hands away, because he tried to slip a finger anywhere inside you at some inappropriate occasion. It makes you hot and stutter and you don't really want him to stop, but someone has to have common sense between the two of you.
“Oh really? Well, I guess I should also do something nice in return,” you wink at him.
“Please, Y/N,” he sighs and squeezes your hand. “Will you?”
“Sure, and I have just the idea, what you might appreciate the most right now,” you laugh, let go of his hand and pretend to brush off some crumbs from your dress.
“You know I do,” Hyunjae moves his chair away from the table and starts unbuttoning his trousers.
 “Yeah…so as a thank you for this nice dinner, “ you say while standing up and coming over in front of him, “I’m gonna go wash the dishes for you now.” You laugh and turn to leave into the kitchen, picking up both of your plates with you.
“What the hell! Y/N!!!”
~~~
You’re sort of regretting your joke now, elbows deep in pots and pans. How the hell did he manage to use every single piece of cookware for a dish this simple? You wonder, but you’re sticking to what you said.
You’re deep in your thoughts, thinking about any possible ways you can play out the dish tetris on Hyunjae’s drying rack without having to dry anything manually, when you get startled by a presence and a touch of hands on your hips. You almost drop a plate.
“Oh damn, you scared me,” you breathe out.
“Just continue doing what you’re doing,”  he whispers in a low voice against your neck. He starts leaving little kisses on your neck while his hands touch your hips firmly.
You decide to just ignore him and focus on scrubbing a particularly burnt something in a pan. Looks like a first attempt , you ponder.
Hyunjae in the meantime moves his hands slowly upwards, cupping and squeezing your tits over your dress. He sucks a hickey on the back of your neck and despite your best efforts at ignoring him, you can already feel blood rushing down and getting wet and slick in your panties.
He licks over the hickey and then bites, and the feeling of his wet warm tongue on your neck should feel a bit disgusting, but at the same time, it’s so typical of him, it makes you even more aroused.
His hips press against your ass from behind and he grinds a little, you can tell he’s already fully hard and it’s distracting. You completely forgot what you’re even doing and did not even realize that you’re just holding onto the sink, until he reminds you.
“You still have dishes left, why are you not continuing?” he asks in a low voice and just by his cocky tone it’s obvious he knows he got you here. He keeps kissing you and you like any little sound it makes, or even when he sighs a little.
You try to reply, but all of his touching, kissing and the feeling of his hard cock against your ass is so good and overwhelming, that you just nod, pick up the next thing and try to do your best.
He steps back a little and goes to lift up your tight dress and bunch it up on your waist and you use the moment to sober up a bit: “Hyunjae, not now, at least let me finish this,” you protest, but it’s weak and you both know it.
“But Y/N, I’m not stopping you from doing anything,” he mocks you, pulling down your soaked panties, body back again flush against yours. He rubs his fingers over the folds of your pussy. It’s so slick you can hear it and you wonder if you are actually dripping.
He’s playing with you, gently rubbing over your clit, which is only making you push out your ass against him more. He slips two fingers into you at once, that’s how aroused and loosened you already are.
“As much as I would like to torture you a bit more, I don’t even need to finger you, you’re already so ready for me.” You’re doing your best to tune out the sound of his zipper but when you feel the head of his cock touch against your pussy, you move back as if to get him into you sooner.
He pushes and once he’s completely in, he stops, letting you both just savor the moment. His cock feels so big, but comfortable. You can feel him so deep that it turns on something really primal in you and you are losing the last bits of your focus.
He’s slowly starting to fuck into you with long strokes and you can only hold on to the kitchen sink for your dear life.
“Y/N, don’t you have anything to do?” he teases, slowly quickening his tempo. At any other chance you would hit him back with a snarky remark, but you can barely concentrate on forming sentences.
“I-I am out of fucking dishes to wash, oh god” you gasp, eyes closed, just enjoying the feeling of Hyunjae’s cock thrusting into you. It always feels so good, and you would even shamefully admit that while his personality had to grow on you, his body and the way he fucks and makes you feel good - that was love on a first sight.
“That’s a shame,” says Hyunjae, emphasizing with a squeeze of your tit. “Enjoy the ride then.”
And with that he starts fucking you with full force, your’re bent over the sing and just moaning and whining. You sneak a hand down there and rub your clit and in a moment you’re coming so hard your ears are ringing.
He has to hold you firmer while you come, so that you don’t fall, but once he sees you getting relaxed, he begins to just get off with your body, fucking you hard and quick to get himself off. You’re slightly wondering if he will take enough time to make you come for the second time, but you have barely even finished that thought and his hips are stuttering and he’s gasping for air, you can feel the glide getting even wetter with his cum.
He’s out of breath and sweaty and he rests his forehead on your back for a moment.
“Everything okay?” you ask.
“Y-yeah, I just feel like I cummed straight from my brain, sorry” he chuckles and slowly pulls out. Everything drips straight out of you right on the floor.
You look under you at the mess on the floor and fix your dress. “Well, good to see what’s inside your brain then,” you raise a brow at him. “I’ll be in the shower”
“Hey!” he shouts at your back. “Am I cleaning this up?”
“You guessed it!” you shout back. “I cleaned enough for today!”

Mushrooms On Toast 2023
Breakfast and Brunch, Family Recipe, Mains, Simple Meals, Vegetarian
Difficulty: Easy | Servings: 1
Description:
My ever-so-slightly fancier take on a classic dish. (Only slightly—if you’re looking for a crab meat and bearnaise sauce-fancy version go find Marco Pierre White.) Suitable for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Serve with a simple salad.
Mushrooms on toast was always something I considered an easy dinner. It seemed like more of a legitmeal™️ than just making instant ramen or throwing something in the microwave, but not so complicated that I couldn’t manage it on my low energy/high pain days. As a bonus, most of the ingredients are staples in my kitchen.
I started with a fairly basic plan: “sauté sliced white mushrooms in butter with jarred minced garlic and worchestershire sauce. Serve on buttered toast. Top with poached or over-medium egg.” Over time, it evolved to sautéing a mushroom/green onion combo in butter with minced fresh garlic and thyme, then adding whole grain mustard and a bit of milk to make more of a sauce. Finally, one night I didn’t feel up to cooking eggs (because accidentally broken yolks are a freaking tragedy) so I decided to break the damned yolk on purpose and use the egg to make French toast as the base. ✨REVELATION.✨
My step-grandfather, Frank Otis (1932-1998), had worked as a country club chef for years and taught me to make French toast when I was maybe in junior high school. His version involved slices of a dense loaf topped with sesame seeds, dipped in a mix of one egg and just a splash of milk per slice, and shallow fried in a measurable depth of oil. Though I can’t quite remember the variety of bread he favored (maybe it was sold in a pre-sliced loaf as Texas toast?), I still rely on his egg+milk proportions.
Ingredients:
*All measurements given are approximations. Unlike baking, cooking isn’t always science. Some quantities, like garlic, you can only truly measure with your heart.
THE TOAST:
1 thick slice good quality bread (brioche if you can get it)
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
Butter or oil for frying
THE MUSHROOMS:
2 large handfuls white mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
3 green onions, chopped and separated white/green (reserve some of the prettier green parts for a garnish)
2 cloves OR 1 tablespoon* minced garlic (fresh is great, but jarred is just fine. Conserve your energy as needed).
1 tablespoon dried thyme, crushed
Butter (or butter + olive oil) sufficient for sautéing
1 heaping tablespoon whole grain mustard (my favorite is Maille Old Style)
2 tablespoons whole milk or cream (adjust as desired)
Salt
Pepper
Finishing salt (like that jar of über-fancy fleur de sel your sister gave you a few years ago)
Directions:
For the toast:
Beat egg and milk in container large enough to fit the bread slice. Briefly soak bread in egg mixture. Cook in a sauté pan over medium heat, turning once, until golden brown on both sides. Pour any additional egg mixture in the pan and cook it, too. (Let it cool then give it to the cats—no sense wasting it!) Remove from heat; cover and keep warm in a wide, shallow bowl.
For the mushroom topping:
In the pan you cooked the toast in, add more butter. Add the garlic and thyme, then after that’s heated through and fragrant add the whites of the green onions. Cook for a few minutes. Add sliced mushrooms, salt**, pepper, and the remainder of the green onions (except the garnish bits), adding additional butter or oil if needed.
**Add a bit less salt than you think you need because you’re going to add the finishing salt later.
When the mushrooms are almost done cooking, add the mustard and milk and stir to incorporate.
Remove bread from the microwave (or wherever you’re keeping it warm). Spoon/pour mushroom mixture over the French toast. Add reserved green onions and finishing salt. Take a photo for Instagram as proof you cooked.

Hi! Since you mentioned that Kashiwagi has a craving for very strange combinations of foods, how about a headcanon where s/o likes to cook and trying to please him with food? And every time he tries something incredibly unbearable like fried spiders, scorpions or mega spicy dishes, their s/o looks in shock with a silent question “How do you eat inedible things and what is your stomach made of?”, after which even tries to repeat this kind of dish with closed eyes in horror lmao.
BAHAHAH yes first solo Kashiwagi moment let's GO. Also I didn't make this up, I stg I read once that Kashiwagi likes watermelon on his ramen. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's where this is all rooted in. I have never tried watermelon ramen myself so idk maybe he's onto something. Headcanons below da cut.
Kashiwagi doesn't really go around telling people his eating quirks like some kind of fun fact. He just DOES it. It's not unusual for people to stare at him and be like "You're eating THAT" and for him to look at them blankly mid-bite and nod.
Although he will tell you that you don't have to bend to his weird food whims, he does appreciate that you try to. Despite how classy he seems, Kashiwagi is actually kind of a human trash can. He will eat ANYTHING. Seriously, try him.
If you catch him cooking for himself, just be prepared for him to top his meal with something you wouldn't expect. Watermelon slices on hot ramen, pickle juice on his rice, weird and wacky shit like that. If you try to do any of that yourself when cooking for him, he'll just be like "Ah, you remembered I like that? Thank you." as if it were any other normal food preference.
Even if you prefer tamer or more normal foods, he won't complain. He likes those just as much, he's just adventurous. He wouldn't expect you to be the same way. Plus he can always top his own meals with his own funny little garnish once you're done cooking. He gets it, not everyone wants to eat what he eats. Kashiwagi's pretty polite like that.
Outside at places like night food markets, it's every man for himself. He will be eating everything. He will be trying it all. Kind of gets a secret kick at you watching him, eyes wide and jaw hanging open, as he eats things you didn't even know were edible.
Best part of Kashiwagi's weird eating habits is he'll totally describe what they taste like if you ask. If you're curious about something but aren't sure if you want to try it, he'll just go try it and tell you. He's probably so in tune with your personal tastes that he'd be able to reliably taste test for you on most things and just give you a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Dr. Worms Quick And Dirty Ramen
warning: i measure by my hearts desire and have nothing to add measurement wise here. If you do not cook mostly by vibes this will be frustrating. sorry :(
necessary ingredients:
-Packet of shin ramen (absorbs broth much better than maruchan or top ramen and isnt too much more expensive)
-whatever form of broth u have (straight from the box, bullion cubes, that better than bullion jarred stuff). You can use water, but the flavors come out way better with a proper broth, and you can get a bunch of bullion cubes for real cheap
-Lemon juice AND soy sauce. Also olive oil.
-Minced garlic, onion, and green onion. For spices and herbs youll want turmeric, thyme, red pepper flakes, and plenty of salt and pepper.
-Broccoli and celery
-an egg
Materials needed
-pot for ramen, cutting board, decent cutting knife, a pan, wooden cooking spoon, measuring cups if you so desire, soup spoon if you have one.
instructions:
Before doing anything, precut all ingredients that havent already been cut. I cut my broccoli and celery into pretty small chunks, as well as cutting up the green and yellow onions. I usually have a big jar of pre/minced garlic on hand because I hate cutting garlic but that varies
Once everythingis prepared, start boiling the broth. Depending on what form of broth you have, the amount of boiling time will vary. It should be between 5-8 minutes until its a full boil. The amount of broth you use depends on your soup to noodles proportion preference, I generally dont use much more than a little over a cup, as i prefer more noodle than soup. However if you do less than a cup or let the broth boil away too much before mixing everything in, you might end up with dry ass ramen so figure out what works for you.
While you wait for the water to boil, toss some olive oil on the pan and turn that on to medium low heat, then toss in the garlic and green and white onions (leave some green onions for garnish). Then, toss in the spinach and let it cook and shrink up. The rule for spinach is the opposite as the rule for pasta. If you think you put a bit too much spinach, you could probably use a bit more. After that, toss in the broccoli and add some more olive oil to make sure the broc is covered and the garlic doesnt burn. Turn down the heat. If you use red pepper flakes, make sure you add them here and not to the broth. When added directly to the broth, the red pepper flavor tends to take over any other flavors added and can make a kind of bland ramen. I find the best system is just a bit of red pepper added before you mix the veggies into the ramen
By now the broth should be boiling. If it starts boiling mid panfrying DONT PANIC just turn down the heat a bit. If theres a bullion cube make sure you stir it and chek to make sure it doesnt stick to the bottom of the pot. Once its boiling add the lemon juice and soy sauce first, THEN the salt (if you add the salt first it boils up and might boil over the side and scare you so much. hypothetically). Then I add the pepper, turmeric, and whatever else I decide to toss i that day. I also like to toss some of the cut up celery in there, it loses some of the crunch but absorbs all of the flavor while still adding texture.
Finally, I add the noodles. As I've said, I prefer the shin ramen brand bc its cheap and higher quality than its other cheap ramen friends. Sometimes I break it in half, but you dont really have to its more of a spaghetti habit. You can toss the ingredients and seasoning packet if you like, but hey up to you.
Once the ramen is added, you move everything from the pan into the pot with the ramen and start mixing it in. At this point, we reach egg mode.
When I do this, I seperate the yolk from the whites, either using two small containers (or measuring cups), or by holding the shell over the pot while i move the yolk from one shell to the other. If you can't do the shell method, look up the garlic method. Its pretty sick.
Anyway you put the yolk to the side and mix in and break up the egg whites so theyre spread evenly through the ramen. At this point, its just waiting until you feel the ramen is done.
Once the ramen is all finished, pour it into a bowl (peeferably one with some sort of handle as its gonna be hot. If you dont have that then oven mitts or a kitchen towel will work fine). I add the celery I havent put in, the green onion, and the egg. If its pretty I take a picture or 4. Then i break the yolk and thoroughly stir it into the ramen, which thickens the broth into this beautiful dream.
Now eat! I personally use a fork and a soup spoon because my motor skills make using chopsticks extremely difficult. Even if you do use chopsticks, I suggest having a ceramic spoon of some kind to sip up all the broth without burning your mouth off
and voila, you have the ramen recipie I use whenever i realize i desperately need veggies. It seems complicated but thats just because I say lots of words, once you get it down its very easy and very yummy. Its also super customizable, you can sorta toss anything in since its literally just ramen.
extras
-sometimes seasonings: paprika (i find that the paprika doesnt always work well with the lemon and soy sauce), dried mustard, basil (if im doing something very light and lemony), probably more I'm forgetting but you can kinda raid the cabinet on this
-cut chicken into small cubes (or buy precut chicken) and toss it in with all the veggies. This adds time to the cooking, but it adds extra protein to the meal and you can batch cook it and have finished chicken to snack on or add to other things.
-ive also done ground beef, but thats a totally different flavor palatte and if you add too much it can kind if overwhelm the ramen. Be delicate and smart.

We'll start by listing out the ingredients you will need and then proceed on to show step-by-step instructions on how to make your very own chicken noodle Pho recipe. So what are you waiting for? Get ready to cook!
Are you looking for a soup that will warm you up this winter? This recipe is perfect. It'll give you the comfort of noodle-y ramen noodles, with the added bonus of broth and spices like ginger, coriander, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon. I recommend making a big batch to fill your fridge or freezer so you can have it on hand when the weather gets colder!
Tumblr media
Can ramen noodles be used for pho? Pho is a Vietnamese soup traditionally made with beef bones, spices, and rice noodles. But can it be made with ramen noodles? That's the question being debated by many in America's kitchens today. The answer is yes! And while some might prefer to make their pho broth from scratch rather than using store-bought or instant ramen noodles, most people find that they are able to have this delicious dish ready in about half an hour.
A lot of people like to use rice noodles for pho. However, ramen noodles are a cheaper option and can be used as an alternative to rice noodles for pho if you are on a tight budget or looking for alternatives. The key is to soak the ramen in hot water until it turns into soft strands before adding it into your broth - this will make it easier to eat later on. You should also consider using some other ingredients such as scallions, ginger, garlic or chilies which will add more flavor and variety of textures than just plain old broth with ramen noodles. After cooking, allow the soup to cool slightly so that you don't burn your tongue when eating!
How do you make chicken ramen noodles better? If you're a fan of chicken ramen noodles, then this blog post is for you. This recipe will help make your favorite food even more delicious and satisfying. It'll also show you how to add variety to the dish so it doesn't get boring. You can enjoy these recipes anytime, whether it's lunch or dinner time! Let's get started with our first recipe: Ramen Noodles with BBQ Chicken & Peanut Butter Sauce.
It's been a long day and I'm ready to relax. The only thing is, my stomach isn't quite in the same mood. It's growling at me for food but I don't want anything too heavy or light. Any ideas? Enter ramen noodles! These Japanese noodles are perfect because they're not too filling so you can still enjoy other foods throughout your evening, but also give you a little something to tide over your hunger until then! So how do we make these delicious noodles better? We just need an easy chicken ramen recipe that will be sure to satisfy even the pickiest eater.
How do you make chicken ramen from scratch? Ramen is a Japanese dish that consists of noodles and broth. It's typically eaten for breakfast in Japan but it can be eaten any time of day. Making ramen from scratch is easy, so let's get started! First you need to boil water in order to cook the noodles. Next we'll need some chicken stock, which will be our main ingredient for the broth. For this recipe I'm going to use salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and ginger powder (optional). You may also want to add soy sauce if desired but it isn't necessary as there are already plenty of flavors present without it. Once these ingredients are mixed together we're ready to start cooking!
Is Pho healthier than ramen?
Pho is a Vietnamese soup made with beef or chicken broth, rice noodles and herbs. It's served piping hot in a bowl with fresh garnishes like cilantro, lime wedges and bean sprouts. The word pho means "to boil" in Vietnamese, as it refers to the boiling of the meat bones for hours on end to create this tasty dish. Pho originated from Hanoi but can be found all over Vietnam - often sold by street vendors who carry their pots of simmering broth around on bicycles!
A lot of people think that ramen is healthier than pho because it doesn't contain any animal products…but the truth is that both are really good for you! You'll get a healthy dose of protein.
How does Kylie Jenner make ramen? The recent trend in food is ramen noodles. It has taken over as one of America's favorite foods, and many people have tried to recreate the perfect bowl at home. One popular Instagrammer is Kylie Jenner, who will show you how she makes her ramen noodles from scratch! Here are some tips for making your own ramen soup that can be eaten on a cold winter day.
Kylie Jenner is a famous celebrity who has been in the spotlight since she was born. She's now 21 years old and one of her favorite foods to eat are noodles. Her latest food craze may surprise you - Kylie loves slurping up ramen noodles! I'll never forget when I first found this out, it seemed like such an odd thing for someone like Kylie to be eating; but then again, we all have our own preferences! This article will tell you how Kylie makes her ramen so you can try it too if you're looking for something new and different to experiment with.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
characters: satoru, itadori, megumi, toji, nanamin, sukuna.
warnings: it's not an angst, but it has triggers because they screamed at you :( [toji and sukuna parts bc yall know those man] + grammar issues. [aged up?]
butler's remark: it was hard to write yuuji, megumi and gojou parts bc they are good and sweet boys and i practically cry. i also had decided to do as a hdc not in the fake text. i did a reader with a strong character.
apologies part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ɪᴛᴀᴅᴏʀɪ ʏᴜᴜᴊɪ:
pls no. i can't even imagine that yuuji would scream to you or say you're bothering him.
but, okay, that's why you're reading this.
you just wanted a piece, a little bit, some, of yuuji's attention while he was training.
you came to him from behind, wrapping hands around his neck.
you were happy to finally see and hug your boyfriend, planning to spend an evening watching some tv-shows.
suddenly, yuuji turned to you, and instead of the usual: 'sweetie, i'm so happy to see you let's watch the tv or eat ramen!'
he answered: 'i'm busy, y/n, let's talk later.'
being busy by doing something is totally normal.
but he could at least said you not cold as that. he turned around his body, continuing to do the same thing.
'but i missed you, yuuujiii~' you stretched out [?] his name in a smile, clinging to his shoulders again.
'can you not being clingy y/n, i'm trying to train. give me some space, you're starting to annoy me!'
you were standing there with doe eyes - he had never screamed at you.
'yeah? whatever, itadori. i'm gonna cuddle with megumi-kun, good training.'
you left the room with tears in the corner of your eyes. you'll give the space that yuuji had mentioned - you won't be talking with him for some days or weeks, therefore he'll know he should watch his mouth. [to follow what he says]
Tumblr media
ꜰᴜꜱʜɪɢᴜʀᴏ ᴍᴇɢᴜᴍɪ:
he came back to the dorm late after training with satoru.
you, being the lovely girlfriend ever, wanted to help megumi: you filled the bathtub with water, made delicious dinner, and find a good movie to watch after bath. maybe, it isn't a romantic thing, but it'll help him to release the tension in the muscle.
'megumi, you finally here!' you had green your boyfriend with a warm hug, as you always do, cupped his face to kiss him.
you were about to give a kiss, when 'gumi intercepted your hands, looking at you tiredly.
'how was the train? you must be tired, that's why i made for you bath and dinner.'
you walked into the living room as you heard him muttering.
'you always being so annoying and so mommy [i mean, hyper custody], i am not a child, y/n, i can help myself.'
'gomen-gomen, megumi, i just wanted to help you relax.'
'stop being like that! that's annoying, i'll take a bath alone, without you.'
you saw bruises and abrasions on his face - he must be angry about that. you have known how megumi hates to be beaten gojou or todou.
you decided not to answer, only waiting till his fury will calm down and he will apologize.
Tumblr media
ꜰᴜꜱʜɪɢᴜʀᴏ ᴛᴏᴊɪ:
i want to confess right away - i'm already afraid of him.
toji should be about to return home from a mission any minute now.
you had baked apple pie and made dinner, anticipating for your husband to arrive.
you only overheard heavy footsteps in the living room, immediately run to see him.
'my love, you back home.' you were about to kiss him, when he turned his head, pronouncing:
'don't touch me.'
his obnoxious nature. over the years of living with him you have taught him to be more gentle with you.
'use better words, toji.'
'i will talk to you as i want, woman. the fact you are my wife doesn't mean i'll be docile.'
'don't talk to me like that, i'm yo-'
'shut up, you're just a wife who comes when i need her. don't exalt yourself. don't be clingy.'
notwithstanding your strong character, tears start to roll down on cheeks.
'i have no intention of being your servant, toji. find another 'wife', i'm leaving.'
Tumblr media
ɢᴏᴊᴏ ꜱᴀᴛᴏʀᴜ:
as you know, gojou satoru is a playful guy, who wants to tease you like 24/7.
you never thought that gojou would scream at you due to you being clingy. it happened, tho.
you are basically just like him, naughty and agile, waiting for him after work so you could take gojou in your arms and kiss him.
when you heard as the door opened, you ran to hug him. however, when you were anticipating to him to do the same, he uttered: 'let go of me.'
you thought he wanted to hug you first, so you've wrapped your arms around your neck tighter.
'did i not make myself clear? get off me. you being so clingy and intrusive.'
'i missed you, 'toru.'
'we see each other every single day, let me spend a few days alone, don't act like a child, stop being sticky'
when you heard the last word, you get off your boyfriend, watching as he slowly walking into the living room, not look at you.
'a few days alone? fine, gojo, whatever. all you want, i'm leaving.'
you grabbed your phone, leaving the house.
Tumblr media
ɴᴀɴᴀᴍɪ ᴋᴇɴᴛᴏ:
you had mentioned that you might be clingy or sticky, demanding a lot of attention, when you on the period.
he agreed, laughed at your words. 'i always be with you anywhen, angel.'
as silly as it may sound, you wrapped your arms on a pillow, which was smelling like him, imagining it was kento.
you heard as a door opened, cheerfully coming down to greet your boyfriend.
'welcome home, darling, i was waiting for you to have some.. cuddles!' you straighten arms on him, expecting kento hugs you.
'it seems as you need me only for that, y/n.'
'no, darling, of course not. how was your day? tell me while we're gonna have a bath.'
'that's what i'm talking about. can it be only one day when you stop being sticky like that? i'm tired from work i want to be alone.'
you were speechless. you mumbled something illegible, step backward.
'y-yeah, s-sure..'
you walk in the bathroom, hiding your tears from him. as soon as you found yourself in the room, you sob.
'he just tired. i-i won't cry.'
you let your boyfriend spend an evening on his own, trying not to cry.
Tumblr media
ꜱᴜᴋᴜɴᴀ ʀʏᴏᴍᴇɴ:
disclaimer: the king was really mad today, exactly today when you wanted to cuddle him.
you came to his domain, happy and shine like the sun - you've moved up in the ranks, isn't that a success?
you baked muffins, the kind that the king likes - with chocolate, and garnished with nuts on top. [it's only my opinion]
so, when you stood in front of a pile of skulls, sukuna unexpectedly said: 'you should leave. now.'
'huh?' you turned your head on the left, in a curious gesture, waiting for him to explain.
you did a step forward, thought you misunderstood him.
he didn't even look at you, sitting on the throne like you ain't here like you're sort of a slave, not a girlfriend.
'i've got so good news, sukuna. the first i had baked muff-'
before you could've finished the sentence, he used cursed energy to stop you, knocking the treats out of your hands.
'i fucking said you to leave my domain, woman. are you that stupid? and stop being clingy, it's irritating me.'
you knew his nature, you knew he might indicate something offensive, but, that one - above hurtful.
'what's wrong, the king?' you said his position mockingly, going down the skulls, looking at his back. 'go to hell, i'll tell it itadori. be here alone, sukuna.'
well, shall i do a part two with apologies? also sorry for kinda sad post.
[?] - pls corrent me if i used the wrong word.

CHAPTER 2
A boiling pot of ramen steamed under your nose as you emptied the seasoning into the bubbling water and noodles, the aroma of the spices making your mouth water. Setting the oven timer to three minutes, you tossed the scraps into the trash and turned to check on how many minutes were left for the rice to finish cooking. It wouldn’t be long so you decided to chop some green onions for garnish to be used along with sesame seeds since you were feeling a bit fancy. It was finally Saturday afternoon and you had crawled out of bed to make you and your mother your classic specialty for a lazy day.
The creaking of floorboards made your head perk up, “Hey mom, it’ll just be a couple more minutes.“
A growl ripped through the kitchen, making your heart drop to your stomach. A putrid smell filled your nostrils but your brain was in shock, it could hardly register it. You whipped your head around only to come face to face with a flesh rotten creature who bore a terrible resemblance to the woman who raised you.
Your lone shriek rang through the apartment walls as your mother pounced on you, jaw snapping at your face as you struggled to hold her at bay. Your head smacked against the cabinets and you cried out in pain, your vision blurring.
“Mom, what are you doing?! Stop!” Your mother snarled at you with gnashing teeth, a horrifying sight you would have never thought to imagine. The deteriorating flesh of her skin that hung off of her bones triggered bile to rise in your throat. Her entourage of attacks didn’t let up for a second, causing desperation and dread to flood your entire being.
“Mom! Mom, please stop! It’s me!” You begged through tears. You looked into the sunken eyes of the woman who raised you; they were glazed over with cloudy film, empty and soulless. Acutely aware of the kitchen knife you’d dropped on the counter that, you shook your head in denial. God, you couldn’t. You wouldn’t.
The claws of the creature ripped into the flesh of your shoulder and pain burst across your skin. You let out a scream. Without thinking you reached behind you and found purchase in the hilt of the knife. Holding back the creature with your other hand, you sunk the blade into its neck— again and again. With each stab, blood pounded in your ears as it screeched at you in retaliation. Why won’t it die? Why?
“I’m sorry mom. I’m so sorry—”
You jerked awake, eyes splitting open from a groggy sleep. Startled by the darkness, you threw off the covers in a flurry, searching your memories for how you ended up here. Suddenly you recalled your captives; two psychotic men who were insistent on you joining them.
The way the dark-haired man’s eyes looked before you lost consciousness terrified you to no end. The other swordman’s insane reaction time didn’t make any sense whatsoever. Their desperation to capture you sent alarms off your brain. Goosebumps prickled your skin. Everything that happened right before you passed out almost felt like a hallucination. Those crazy cannibal occultists. To your knowledge, you could be in a slaughterhouse and someone could be waiting for you outside to trap you.
It was safe to assume you were in a very dangerous situation, but you were indeed alive for the time being and all of your organs appeared to be intact. You were half expecting to have awoken to be chained to a chair and blindfolded. Or to not have awoken at all. Still, it was far too early for you to let your guard down.
All you wanted was to just crawl back under the sheets for another ten hours and pretend like the world outside didn’t exist.
Wait, were you in an actual bed?
You’d have thought you were still dreaming if it weren’t for the way your throat and stomach burned. Just a reminder that you were occupying a starving body, was all.
The soft black sheets caressed your calloused palms, and you suddenly felt icky that you haven’t changed clothes while laying in such a clean smelling bed. Oddly enough, the mattress almost felt too soft after curling up on concrete every night.
Startled, you felt something prick at the skin of your arm when you tried to move. Your finger trips tracing what felt like a thin piece of fabric on your inner forearm. It was a bandage adhering a needle against your skin.
You quickly ripped it out in a panic and scurried on your hands and knees to feel along the closest side of the wall until your fingertips found fabric. Afraid of what you would lay eyes upon, you yanked back the thick curtains, letting hazy light filter into the room. Next to the bed stood a portable IV hanger with a bag of clear liquid. Did they drug you?
The evening's sun rays still caused you to squint but you were relieved to see a familiar scene of the city and the clouds floating amongst the dusty orange-hued sky. It appeared a day had nearly passed and while you clearly slept for much longer than you anticipated, you still felt terribly exhausted and on edge.
Tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, you dared to get up and take a look at the state you were in. Locating what looked like a tall mirror propped up in the corner of the bedroom, you slowly padded over in your socks, taking note that your jacket, backpack, and boots lay at the foot on the bed. You wondered if they searched your belongings; you’d check if everything was there later.
What you saw before you was a disheveled mess of a human being. Not surprising in the slightest but still a bit shocking to witness. Your skin was dry and had obvious layers of dirt caked across your cheeks and hands; a couple of your bandaids that wrapped around your fingers had peeled off. You ripped them off clean to reveal semi-healed scrapes and tossed them into the nearby trash can. A lot of the scrapes were from maneuvering between abandoned buildings and nearly getting crushed by a massive cement slab when you misstepped on unstable debris.
The hair grease was a situation in and of itself and your stained tank top and ripped jeans were in dire need of a laundry cycle. You stared at your reflection in the mirror and a pair of tired eyes stared back, chapped lips pressed in a thin line. You’ve never seen yourself in a worse-off state in your entire life, not even during finals season.
To the left of the mirror stood a rack of clothing consisting of dark oversized jackets and a couple of plaids and solid-colored shirts. Hastily, you shifted through it. Large leather boots and a couple of broken-in sneakers were lined up in a row right under the clothing rack.
It was incredibly tempting to pull a couple of items off the hangers to change into but if there was a possibility that you could shower here it made sense to do that first. After a meal, that is, if you were even to be given one. It was a rather violent altercation that took place between you and the two men, so you figured you might be treated like a prisoner. But even prisoners received meals, right?
Wherever you ended up could've been the den of a small group or an entire community. But it didn't matter, you were still just one girl. What they wanted with you was still a mystery, and you were very much outnumbered.
Even though you had a full night’s sleep, your mind felt far from stabilized. It was imperative that you remained sharp despite your terrible physical condition. You were treading in unknown territory and couldn’t afford to make the wrong move. As much as you wanted to escape, you needed to play it safe and remain as cooperative as you possibly could. Especially if it could earn you some food around here.
Glancing around the room, you noticed a worn, black trunk in the corner with a record player on top and stacks of vinyl records. Did it even work? Your phone and portable battery charger had died weeks ago and it never occurred to you to pack your headphones to listen to music when you ran away from home.
What drew your attention from the opposite end of the room was a huge map of the city that was pinned up on a corkboard, along with red-colored markers and scribbles of notes strategically placed in certain areas. Decoding said notes were the last thing on your mind but you made a mental note to look into them later. These guys seemed to know this part of the city from the inside out.
You anxiously found yourself rubbing at your throat. The sensation of both of those assholes’ hands on your neck lingered unpleasantly. You wouldn't let it slide if they laid a hand on you again. You wondered if it was the one named Jay who had carried you after he choked you out.
Honestly, you never thought you’d come to hate sleep as much as you do now. Your nightmare flashed in your mind's eye and you shook your head. Oh how badly you wanted to forget, but God never allowed you any mercy when you slept…
You swiped at the sudden tears that stained your cheeks only to see out of the corner of your eye someone peeking at you through the crack of the door.
“Hey!” you called out.
The door shut too quickly before you could identify the person behind it and you nearly tripped over your belongings chasing after them. Without a second thought, you snagged a box cutter from a small, messy-looking desk, brandishing the pitifully small blade before stepping out. Something was better than nothing.
It must’ve been providence that the bedroom led into a dark, open kitchen with high concrete ceilings. The aroma of something cooking hit your nose, you swallowed immediately to keep from drooling.
“Hello?”
No response.
“Anyone there?”
You stepped outside of the room, swinging the door wide open so you had at least some light to see. It shone on the black marble counters and reflected off the steel kitchen appliances lined up against the wall.
“I know someone’s here,” you stated aloud.
Feeling fearless, you didn’t hesitate to go straight for the fridge to take inventory.
“And I’m not afraid to shank you,” you muttered under your breath.
The moment you pulled it open, the coolness radiating from the fridge wafted against your face, but it was already quite cold in the building. The people who were lucky enough to live here were fully stocked. It made sense to have that much food if there were at least seven people living here.
If it all belonged to you, you’d easily make it all stretch for months (and you hadn’t even checked the pantry yet). You looked over your shoulder only to see the light from the bedroom spilling across the cement floor before turning back around.
You quickly snatched up a bowl of fresh fruit consisting of the juiciest grapes you’ve ever seen, a handful of strawberries. There was a bag of sourdough bread slices next to a slice of brie cheese that you didn’t hesitate to add to your stash.
You laid all of the food that you gathered out on the counter and stabbed your blade into the bread bag to rip it open. You hid the knife in your waistband and released a deep breath you'd been holding.
“I’m never taking food for granted ever again,” you quietly told yourself. Any sense of decorum was thrown out the window as you proceeded to devour anything and everything you managed to shove into your mouth without choking. All of the fruit was cool to the touch and soothed your dry throat with sweet juices. Eating them in combination with the bold taste of cheese and fresh sourdough was beyond satisfying. Incredible. Life-changing. Suddenly your situation didn’t seem as terrible as you thought it was.
“Boo.”
You spat out a chunk of bread as a lantern on the island counter suddenly flickered to life. A tall boy wearing a mischievous expression stood behind it, his abrupt appearance causing you to swallow the grapes in your mouth whole. His long, duo-toned hair was pulled back in a short ponytail, but strands fell around his face, almost as if he’d just rolled out of bed.
“I thought you knew I was here. You’re making that look good,” he gestured at the mess of bread crumbs, and grape stems. You had even eaten the brie rinds and strawberries whole.
“Who—” you barely managed to swallow your food before he continued talking.
“Sorry,” he smirked, not sounding apologetic at all. “I'd have offered to warm up your fruit but you seemed to be enjoying it just as is.”
Did you hear him right? Microwaved fruit? Eyes narrowing, you slowly took another bite out of the loaf of bread, seeing how he’d react. Would you be able to have a civil conversation or would this break out into a full-blow fight like last night? Would he condemn you for eating their stash without permission?
Your brain struggled to voice your thoughts.
“What time is it exactly?” was all you managed to blurt out.
He glanced over his shoulder into a pitch dark room which must’ve been the open living room space. You didn’t stare in the same direction for long, afraid of looking into the dark.
“About 7:30 PM.”
Your brows furrowed, “How do you know?”
“Uh, clock on the wall?”
“You can see with so little light?” You asked, astonished.
His eyes shifted elsewhere, almost in a slight panic.
“I’ve been hanging out in the living room all this time, that's why,” he insisted.
So he had been watching you.
“In the dark… doing what?”
“Playing darts. Ah, and warming up pizza.” He chuckled at how your eyes nearly popped out of your eye sockets at the mention of pizza. He turned around to open the toaster oven which you hadn’t even realized was on.
“So that’s what I’ve been smelling…” you thought your mind was playing tricks on you, the aroma of sweet dough filling the air.
“Just put it in not too long ago. We have a generator that runs in this building but we like to conserve electricity where we can. Also, we use minimal light sources to keep from giving away our location.”
“I thought electricity wasn’t even a thing anymore,” you said, swallowing a mouthful of saliva.
“We’ve got a guy who takes care of it all. But lanterns and propane grills easily keep things low-key when needed.”
He used a spatula to shimmy two of the most delicious-looking pizza slices with melted cheese and pepperoni toppings onto a ceramic plate. As he set down the platter next to your mess of crumbs, you realized he stood even taller than the two men who captured you. However, his features were rather youthful. The boy shoved his hand into the pockets of his grey sweatpants and pushed up a sleeve of his black shirt, settling comfortably against the counter a few feet to your left. You merely stared at the pizza.
“You can have my slice too if you'd like.”
“Wait really?”
“Sure. What’s your name?”
“___”, you said through a mouthful of pizza. The taste was unparalleled. Hot, cheesy, greasy goodness. Tears nearly sprung to your eyes. “Oh, this is incredible.”
“You can call me Riki,” he smirked, watching you closely.
“Riki, you don’t even know,” you gave him a grateful look while you tore apart the crust and peeling off a piece of pepperoni to ross into your mouth. “Who else lives with you besides those two assholes?”
He snickered, leaning onto his elbows. “Ah. There are… seven of us. The rest just headed out for scavenging and watch duty.”
“Scavenging at night?” You questioned.
“Weren’t you doing the same thing when Jay and Sunghoon found you?” Riki thoughtfully propped his chin on his palm as you started on your second slice of pizza.
You took a large bite of your slice and recalled the altercation and the shock you’d felt upon hearing what they were planning on doing with those blood bags. You would have to go about this topic carefully. Or should you even dare to bring it up? They probably filled the boy in on what went down last night. Assuming he does know that you know something is amiss here, well it’s only a matter of time before the elephant in the room is addressed right?
“Well, It’s not like I had a choice. I was hungry and needed a place to sleep. Why scavenge at night?” You said, attempting to chew your second slice of pizza more thoroughly.
“People are asleep, usually. So we’re at an advantage when it comes to claiming... resources. We only have to worry about avoiding the lurkers.” He explained.
You licked off some crumbs from your thumb. “…Running into me must’ve been a surprise then.”
Riki nodded. “A huge one. This is where it all started after all. People tend to stay away from this part of town since it’s filled to the brim with the infected. Plus, it’s our turf.”
So they’re territorial… They can't be the only group of people occupying this part of the city.
“I guess I’ve always sucked at reading maps; what with our generation usually having the technology to access at our fingertips…” you admitted with a weak chuckle. “I wouldn’t have known in the first place. Intruding on your guy’s property wasn’t my intention at all.”
You didn’t mention how the guy named Sunghoon had gotten all up in your face so suddenly that you had no choice but to act in self-defense. You couldn’t have cared less about trespassing, especially in this new lawless society but you hadn’t realized the consequences that would follow.
Riki’s lips parted into a smile as if to say something, but he refrained. “No worries. We figured as much.”
“I don’t intend to overstay my welcome.” Giving him a pointed look, you asked, “What would you have me do in return for everything you’ve provided me with so far?”
“For now, settling in and getting back to feeling 100%,” he said simply.
At a loss of words, you stared at him. No mention of having to serve as an altar sacrifice or being hung upside down to be drained of blood. But the underlying implications of his words were plain and clear— We dictate when you come and go, and you will stay for as long as we say so.
”We’ll provide for you, and you’ll provide for us.”
Jay’s words echoed in your mind. But you haven’t agreed to jack shit yet.
“That’s your main task for this week,” he continued. “The others will fill you in with our expectations and conditions during your stay with us. I’m sure you have questions for Jay, which you can ask once he returns in the morning. I’m just here to tour you around our amenities.”
When you said nothing more, he straightened up to his full height and tossed an apple over his shoulder from behind his back, holding it before your face.
“Apple?” He offered with a smile.
You took the apple from his grasp cautiously, looking up at him. It almost felt like he was trying to sweeten you up for something down the line. It certainly didn’t hurt to be paranoid in a situation like yours.
He raised his brows. “Got something else to say or are we going to have a cliché conversation about whether or not the apple is poisoned?”
You bit off a large chunk with a crunch, feeling the skin of the apple snap and its crisp flavor spill across your tongue. Delicious.
“Not this girl.”
“I knew I’d like you,” He laughed and swiftly took your plate to place it in the sink before you could protest. “I promise you’ll be able to bombard Jay with questions. Take your time and I’ll find you some clothes so you can wash up for the night.”
“…Thank you.”
He isn’t giving me the time of day about whether or not I even want to stay with their group. But at least he’s not throwing me up against a wall and trying to use brute force. He may just be using a different approach to attempt to convince me, but that guy Sunghoon should take notes.
While Riki moved into the living room to light the lanterns one by one, you noticed an open hallway located in the far right corner where several more doors lined the walls. They could be bedrooms or storage rooms for all you knew. If you actually made it through the night without dying, you’d take a closer look around the space after the shower that you were so looking forward to.
You took the last bites of your apple, cleaning the rind completely of its flesh. A slice nearly got stuck in your windpipe when you noticed a large dartboard on the wall covered completely with knives. You warily regarded the boy who paced around the room, humming an unrecognizable tune. Not even he was to be underestimated. It really was survival of the fittest out here, wasn't it?
“Trash cans under the sink. By the way, whenever we take shifts, we usually have a watchman who stays behind to guard the quarter while the remaining five who pair up for the night are usually out until dawn. Tonight, you’re my charge, and I could probably show you the roof...”
You wondered if they ever slept at least during the day if they were out all night. It was an odd schedule. Were they expecting you to adjust to it?
“Five plus you… But that’s only six. You said seven of you live here.”
“Right. Our seventh has been MIA for some time now and we’re in the process of trying to track him down. He’s been with us even before all of this went down so things are kind of… uncertain without him.”
“That must be difficult for you all,” you said. Cogs turned in your brain as you tried to understand the dynamics and power hierarchy of this group of men.
You recalled snippets of the conversation between Jay and Sunghoon.
“We already had our rations for the week. If Heeseung finds out you’re going behind his back like this--“ “He’ll what? Kill me? Are you gonna tell on me if he even gets back?”
Was this Heeseung their missing guy? You knew by the way Jay and Riki talked about him, that he had a say in how things were run around here. Was he a pushover or was he the sort of person who wouldn’t hesitate to put someone up on the chopping block for sneaking rations behind everyone’s back? Since he was gone, who was next in line?
On the other hand, Sunghoon had a devil may care attitude about said consequences and still managed to force his way despite Jay’s warning. He must really believe that the other guy won’t be showing up again any time soon. But while Sunghoon did as he pleased, Jay exhibited a sense of authority in the way he handled last night's situation, appearing to you as a much more influential type when it came down to attempting to coerce you into joining. Regardless, you despised both of them for the way they treated you.
“When it comes to day-to-day life, we’ve fallen back on our systems which you’ll be taught and shown. But not having him around is doing more harm than good, I think…” he trailed off.
You nodded slowly, taking in his words as if your survival depended on it. This information could be used to your advantage and Riki seemed like the kind of guy to run his mouth a bit too much.
“Well, it’s nothing you need to worry about. You’ll continue staying in his room in the meantime, which is connected to the shared master bathroom. There’s also a second one down the hall so it’s up to you.”
“Your missing guy won’t mind? I’d rather not overstep my boundaries,” you insisted.
“Jay assigned you that room," he gave you a small smile. "Like he said, we’ll take care of you.”
You tilted your head. “Is he your leader?”
“It's up in the air,” a curt voice replied from the entrance of the living room.
“Hoon! I thought you left with Jay earlier?” Riki asked, confused.
Upon Sunghoon’s appearance, your fingers twitched, aching to ram your knuckles into his face as payment for last night. Or perhaps bury your hidden blade into his chest. Or both, the order didn’t matter.
As Sunghoon strolled over, you eyed his pristine outfit; he wore fitted black jeans and a white button-down shirt with his sleeves hiked up to his elbows. His dark thick hair fell to either side of his face, framing his unreadable expression. No sword, but that didn’t make him look any less intimidating.
Glancing down at his arm; you were confused at seeing his immaculate pale skin. You were taken aback, having made sure to scratch him hard enough to leave marks.
An itch spread across your throat and you suddenly felt filthy in his presence. You immediately regretted looking at him for as long as you had the moment he caught you, an amused gleam in his eye. At your side, Riki shifted under the heavy tension that settled in the air.
“Jay and the others are regrouping. I came back to check on our new resident princess.”
You frowned at the nickname. Sunghoon leaned over the counter on his elbows, facing you with a smirk.
“You’re already looking better. Just a tad less ravenous.”
“Riki very generously shared your resources with me,” you said, voice tight.
“Of course he did. However, generously sharing one’s food is one thing, while lending you some soap is another pertinent matter entirely.” He had the audacity to give you a once over.
Riki sighed. You leaned over the counter towards Sunghoon if not to spite him with your odor. “You’re an ass.”
“Is that any way to speak with someone who generously invited you into their own home?”
You bit your lip, using every ounce of self-control not to strangle him.
“I think you mean threatened, then forced!”
“I’m not the one who swung to kill first," he shrugged. "If we’d left you behind and let you run out amongst the walking dead you’d have ended up their dinner, princess. We did you a favor. Actually, we’re still doing you a favor.”
Your jaw clenched as you glared at him. So much for planning on being cooperative.
“I haven’t agreed to anything.”
“Seeing as you’ve already partaken,” he gestured around the kitchen, “I don’t think you're in the position to play that card.”
“Why not just think of the resources I’ve partaken of as a parting gift from one apocalypse survivor to another and leave me the hell alone?”
“It was apparent from the start that you lacked solid decision-making skills. I’ve come to realize your negotiation skills aren't any more impressive,” he said.
This bastard.
“What do you want from me so badly?” You raised your voice, hands balling tightly into fists.
Sunghoon clasped his hands together and straightened his back. You met his stare and refused to flinch when he towered over you. Riki fell silent, looking between the two of you.
“Pay attention to what I’m about to say,” he said in a tone that unnerved you. “There are some among us that carries a rare blood disease.” Your brows furrowed at that and you glanced at Riki. Well, that was not what you were expecting to hear but you let him continue.
He watched your expression carefully before continuing with a lowered voice, “We’ve been struggling with getting clean blood for the transfusions that our people need. Hospitals are shut down and resources are scarce, as you know. Now you should understand how valuable a resource you are to us.”
As realization dawned on you, you saw his eyes flicker to a molten glow then back to normal, so quickly you couldn’t tell the color. A heaviness suddenly overtook your mind, similar to how you felt right before passing out last night. Blinking, you tried to refocus your attention on him, arms shooting out to steady yourself on the counter. You thought back to the night prior and shook your head slowly.
“That’s…”
Suddenly there were blanks in the memory of your encounter with Sunghoon and Jay. Things you knew were important; indicative of what was truly going on here behind the scenes.
“Our timing last night was off. No outsiders were supposed to have access to that building. That’s our mistake. Those blood bags you saw were solely for those of us that need them. You trespassed and fought us over resources that were rightfully ours, then when you panicked, we kept you from running out into those hoards.”
The whole memory you recalled when you woke up now felt segmented. It slowly began fading out of your mind; bits of conversation between Jay and Sunghoon were now indecipherable while your run-in was reduced to blurry images. Why couldn’t you remember properly?
“We even offered you food and shelter, but you obviously weren't in the right state of mind since you refused. I may have been a bit forceful but you were equally insistent. Then you passed out from shock, and maybe even malnourishment." He raised a perfect brow at you. "We took you back to our quarter.”
Riki moved to reach out a hand towards you but Sunghoon stood up and rounded the counter towards you, his sharp eyes never leaving your trembling form. A startling image of your mother clawing at you in her grotesque state flashed before you as though you were experiencing your nightmare in real-time, before disappearing and reappearing like a glitch in your vision. You stumbled backward against the counter, feeling like you could collapse as the room spun.
“Wait. Stop—“
Sunghoon caged you in between his arms against the counter in the center of the kitchen. You gripped his clothed biceps to keep him away at arm's length and to steady yourself. He didn’t miss how your chest rose and fell in uneven, rapid breaths.
“You misheard us when we were talking about consuming blood. It was a joke, obviously.”
No, you overheard them very clearly— right?
His eyes raked over your frozen features. “But what isn’t a joke is the fact that we are in dire need of your blood," he gestured to Riki, "To be clear; you will give us everything that we need. Nothing is without a price...”
Cold sweat beaded at your temples and you could only stare at the base of his neck, the dim candlelight dancing across the sharp curve of his collarbone that disappeared behind crisp, white linen.
“Doesn’t that sound about right?” He punctuated his words with a tone of expectation and concealed threat.
What he was sharing suddenly didn’t feel far off from the truth. Your mind felt open to his claims, yet feelings of disgust and confusion still lingered deep within you. Something was very wrong. You had a feeling he was feeding you complete and utter bullshit, and your mind wanted to give into it. Your mother's shrieks rang in your ears.
It’s not real, you thought to yourself, shutting your eyes. None of it was real.
One, because your mother was gone. Two, because you had a sharp intuition and she would never be caught dead having raised an idiot for a daughter. And three, you never fell for the same trick twice.
“Look at me, love,” he urged.
You shook your head. “I’m gonna vomit—“
“You can vomit all over me,” he said, tilting your chin up towards his face. “Cry on me, scream at me, scratch me—“
You gasped when Sunghoon gripped your thighs to lift you up and shove you down onto the countertop, sending a plate crashing to the floor behind you. Automatically pushing at his shoulders, your legs flailed against his sides, trying to kick at his chest but his weight between your legs kept you down as he bent over you. You locked out your arms and turned your head away from him. He gripped your jaw with his free hand and clamped the other around your wrist.
“— But I’ll still take what I want.”
Despite the fear that knotted in your throat at being unable to see, something told you to keep your eyes shut tight. Otherwise, you would be choosing to forfeit all agency to him. You knew it sounded crazy, had no idea about the logic behind it, but maybe something else was going on behind the scenes that physical laws just couldn’t explain. You winced at the force of his strength but the fog around your brain was already clearing.
The boxcutter you had pocketed earlier pressed into the flesh of your stomach while you struggled against Sunghoon and an even more insane idea popped into your mind. Without hesitating, you curled your grip into the collar of his shirt and jerked him forward.
Right on target, your lips crashed against his, teeth clacking together quite painfully, then everything went still. Quiet even. Your eyes cracked open and you found yourself staring into a wide pair of brown eyes that completely lacked any previously held intensity behind them.
Your right hand quickly slid the blade from the confines of your pants. You shoved it straight up into Sunghoon’s chest— with a vengeance.
He grunted in pain as your teeth scraped harshly against his bottom lip. His dumbfounded expression twisted into one of disbelief. As he shoved your hand away, you slammed your foot into his chest causing you to slide off the counter and hit the floor in an ungraceful heap.
You hissed at the painful sensation of ceramic shards slicing into your skin from the smashed plate but you pulled yourself together and scrambled back into the bedroom, not even sparing Riki a glance since you knew how fast that other motherfucker moved.
You flung the door shut, locking it with a click, and then you were hauling a desk over to block the doorway, stationery supplies clattering onto the floor. You ran into the master bathroom and proceeded to lock yourself in from the door on the farthest side since you remembered it was shared.
Outside, Riki merely stared at the door in shock before he whipped back around to Sunghoon who was leaning against the refrigerator, looking completely disheveled. His shirt was untucked from his pants and a button had gone missing from his collar. A small amount of blood stained the fabric of his shirt, just above his heart.
Sunghoon removed the blade from his chest and hurtled it across the kitchen. It sunk right into the door. Riki knew it probably just felt like getting stabbed by a large needle but it still must’ve stung. His pride, that is.
Sunghoon swiped a thumb at his sore bottom lip, staring down at the red smeared across it in disbelief. You actually bit him. The scent of your blood and his own lingering in the air only fueled his anger.
“Dude, I was already buttering her up with the pizza and it was working! Sort of.”
“Where’s the fucking key?”
“I think Jay has it?”
The two shut up the moment they heard your muffled gagging.
“Fucking disgusting!” They heard you yell even with the concrete walls separating you from them, all thanks to their keen hearing.
Riki bent over and burst into laughter. “Christ, Jay was actually serious about everything! Oh my god, what did I just witness? That human girl is crazy, I can’t believe she snapped out of it that fast, and then she—“
Sunghoon’s expression darkened but Riki merely waved him off. “You seriously deserved all of that!”
Sunghoon ignored his remark. His eyebrows knit together in irritation and he covered his mouth, trying to hide his slight bewilderment at the stunt you pulled. Pieces of ceramic covered in blood crunched under his boot as he made a beeline into the hallway.
“Clean this shit up and regroup with the others in ten.” He ordered Riki. “Jungwon caught a rat in our trenches.”

haha, what if we kissed? (lol jk... unless?)
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
“Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Dream: Worth It!”
Chenle shouts loudly from the driver’s seat, waving excitedly at the camera attached to the dashboard as he waits for the traffic light to turn green. You visibly flinch in your spot on the passenger's side, startled by the sudden greeting, and even Jisung jumps in the backseat, almost dropping the camcorder he was fiddling with.
Your best friend continues to give the camera a dazzling smile, paying no attention to your and Jisung’s brief glares. “Today on Worth It, thanks to a fan’s suggestion, we’ll be trying out three different spaghetti dishes at three drastically different price points to find out which one is most worth it at its price!”
“Yes,” you chime in, nodding excitedly at the camera and giving a little wave. “So if you want to see another riveting episode of Chenle and Jisung going on three dates at three drastically different price points while I third wheel again, please stay tuned!”
“Hey!”
Both the boys wildly protest, but you blatantly ignore them, checking your phone quickly before beaming at the camera again. “So here’s our first spaghetti fact! The word ‘spaghetti’ is actually the plural version of spaghetto. Spaghetto comes from the Italian word spago, which means twine or thin string.”
“Wait, that actually makes sense. Spaghetti looks like thin strings,” Chenle says, eyebrows shooting up in surprise.
“Yeah, basically every language makes sense, except for English,” you remark, setting your phone down in your lap before turning to your best friend. “So are you excited for this episode’s dish?”
“Yes! Shout out to Moony for your suggestion,” Chenle calls out, driving forward before making a right. “If anyone else has any suggestions for future videos, please feel free to comment below.”
You start to explain the first restaurant to your viewers. “Our first stop is called Legalize Marinara! It’s a small hole in the wall place in downtown LA, and fresh pasta is made everyday. We’ll be talking to the owner and chef Johnny Suh about the daily process.”
“And cut!” Jisung calls out, and you stop there, pressing the off button to end the recording. Later on, the three of you will have to work on snipping up the recordings to create a smooth transition from there to a shot of Johnny and his restaurant before jumping into your quick interview with him.
You quickly scroll through the questions you had written ahead of time to ask Johnny on your phone, mouthing the words and memorizing them. You were always the one who asked about the history of the restaurant because Chenle wasn’t as good with the more sentimental questions and preferred the light hearted ones about the food specifically, which you didn’t mind. As long as you get to try good food at the end of it, you’re one very happy, very stuffed camper. You are very much looking forward to visiting Legalize Marinara.
“—and that’s how the pasta is freshly made everyday in the morning.” Johnny finishes up, giving the camera a very charismatic smile and a wink. “We also have a special brew of coffee created by my dad, but that’s a story for another episode. I’ll bring out the spaghetti once it’s ready.”
You and Chenle thank him before going over to sit at one of the small metal tables near the entrance. The place had a sort of modern, yet retro feel to it with an eclectic mix of vintage, kitschy furniture adding pops of color here and there to the otherwise simple space with a neutral palette. The name of the restaurant flashes as a neon sign, serving as the main wall decor along with records scattered here and there on the wall as well.
Jisung stands across from the two of you, propping the large camera on his shoulder in preparation. You and Chenle both take a sip of the special coffee drinks Johnny prepared for you each on the house, pleasantly surprised by the crisp, refreshing taste your taste buds are immediately hit with. Johnny appears minutes later, a pretty plate of simple spaghetti and meatballs along with some Parmesan and garnish on top in hand.
“Here’s our most popular dish: spaghetti with meatballs!” he announces, placing the plate in front of you both carefully. “It’s a simple tomato sauce, but it’s made with organic, local ingredients that we get from the farmer’s market every morning. We get the fresh meat from the butcher down the block everyday to make the meatballs and buy the cheese from local sellers as well. We also add the secret spice mixture created by my mom to the meatballs, which gives it a distinct flavor from other restaurants. Please dig in, guys!”
You immediately swirl your fork into the plate of spaghetti. It looks and smells absolutely fantastic, and your mouth is already watering. You cannot believe that this only costs thirteen dollars. This is an absolute steal. You are just about to take a bite when—
“Wait! We didn’t do a ‘cheers’ yet!” Chenle exclaims, sticking out his fork towards you. You clink your fork against his own metal utensil, and he’s finally satisfied, retracting his arm. Finally, you take the much anticipated bite. The flavors absolutely explode in your mouth, and you’re already reaching out to take a second forkful of the delicious masterpiece.
“This is amazing,” you declare, and Chenle nods enthusiastically, spearing a meatball with his fork. Jisung briefly pans the camera over to Johnny, who shows a double thumbs up before doing finger guns and giving an exaggerated wink.
“Here, try this.” Chenle cuts a piece of the meatball and offers it to you. You reach out for it, but he pulls back, smiling widely and eyes sparkling. Nuh uh, that’s too easy. Say ah, Y/N.”
“I—” Your cheeks grow warmer than ever, and his grin grows broader, wriggling the fork in front of you. Face burning, you move forward and take a bite. You can hear Jisung fake gagging behind the camera and very much would like to flip him the bird, but you are a professional. You’ll get him back for that later. After all, revenge is a dish best served piping hot and spicy, and you have some Carolina reapers leftover from another video that may accidentally find its way into Jisung’s ramen next time.
You and Chenle spend some more time describing the dish in between bites as Johnny pipes in here and there with some well placed dad jokes that has Jisung shaking his head behind the camera. By the end of it, you both are very happy, and you switch places with Jisung who has a chance to try out the pasta himself at last. He silently eats it before tossing a thumbs up at the camera, and you stop the recording there. After thanking Johnny once more before the three of you leave, you all pile into your car and get ready to go to the next stop.
Up next: Penne for your Thoughts.
Tumblr media
“Can we stop here?” Jisung pipes up, peering out the window with interest. His eyes scan the surroundings, peering at the empty space and the wide stairs in front of the spiraling columns of a grand building.
You furrow your eyebrows, glancing at your friend in the backseat. “We’re still a couple blocks away from the restaurant though.”
“This looks like a good spot to film a dance,” he muses to himself before sitting up straighter. “Can we take a quick break? We’re still early, and I wanted to film a quick TikTok before the sun sets.”
You look over at Chenle, who shrugs and pulls over. He backs up into an available parking space, parallel parking smoothly, one hand gripping the back of your seat and the other on the steering wheel. “Alright, do your thing, Jisungie.”
Jisung excitedly hops out from the back. You and Chenle follow suit, locking the car behind you. Your friend is busy setting up his collapsible tripod before placing his phone on it and calling over to you, “Hey, can you stand in front, Y/N? I wanna angle this correctly and check the lighting.”
You move in front of his phone, standing several steps in front of the stairs. Jisung fiddles around with his phone for a few moments, switching up some of the settings and zoom functions before straightening up, eyes bright. “Okay, stay there to mark the spot! I’m gonna press the start button to record. Chenle, can I borrow your phone? I need to play the song for the dance.”
Chenle hands him his phone, and the familiar intro to Doja Cat’s “Say So” begins to blast on top volume. Jisung hands it back to its owner and hurriedly moves to stand in front of his own recording phone as you step aside. “I kinda also need you two in my TikTok.”
“Wait, what? I don’t know the dance,” you protest, starting to back out, but Jisung grabs your hand, pulling you into view, as Chenle bounces over with a shrug of his shoulders, never one to shy away from the camera.
“You don’t need to dance. I just need you both to uh, kiss my cheek on, um, both sides when I tap on them both. It should be the fourth time she says ‘say so’ in the song,” he stammers slightly, face turning slightly pink. He avoids making eye contact as you give him a suspicious look, crossing your arms over your chest.
“What? Why?”
“It’s part of the dance! Now get out of the shot please because the chorus is finally coming up again!” He unceremoniously shoves you out of the frame, and Chenle quickly catches you before you faceplant into the ground. You have a few choice words to yell at your friend and are about to furiously march over to him, but Chenle tightens his grip on you. “Let’s just let him finish, and we can go on. You know how he is about dancing.”
“I’m paying Renjun to put another cockroach picture as his lockscreen again,” you huff, frowning at the dancing boy. “Why didn’t you say anything about the whole kissing request anyway?”
“Eh, I’ve done it before. It’s no big deal.” Chenle shrugs, and you start to stutter, brain malfunctioning, “Wait, you did wha—”
“Oh, it’s almost our cue!” Chenle pushes you towards Jisung as he runs behind the camera to the other side, and you find yourself stumbling for a second time before catching yourself. Grumbling to yourself, you catch Chenle’s apologetic expression, and you sigh, shaking your head as you wait on the sidelines for Jisung to do the move.
And there it is.
Jisung points at his cheeks, tapping them on both sides, and you and Chenle jump into the frame. You lean forward, pressing your lips softly against— wait.
Eyes widening, you jump back in shock, mouth popping open, and the same reaction comes from your best friend when you two realize that you just kissed each other. On the lips.
Crouched on the ground, Jisung looks rather smug after quickly dropping down mid-dance and orchestrating the whole incident. He quickly stands up, striding towards the camera and ending the recording, before efficiently packing up the equipment and walking back to the car without another word.
“Did we just—” you splutter, unable to continue your sentence, as your face grows increasingly warm. Chenle refuses to make eye contact with you, the darkening blush spreading across his face like wildfire. The two of you both direct your disbelief at the same target, rushing over to the car which he boredly stands next to, waiting for Chenle to unlock it.
“Jisung!” You both shout his name, and he just stares at you both, a small grin across his face that he struggles to hide. “What?”
“‘What?’ That’s it? What was that?! Why did you do that?” you exclaim, waving your arms around. Chenle is rendered speechless, unable to say anything after the quick outburst of his other best friend’s name.
“I was tired of listening to Che—mmph!” Jisung is abruptly cut off as Chenle throws his hand over his friend’s mouth, effectively interrupting whatever he was about to say. The two of them silently look at each other, maintaining some sort of telepathic stare that’s probably discussed in the universal book of the bro code. You’ve seen Jaemin and Jeno or Renjun and Donghyuck share the same look before and never really understood it. To be honest, it kind of reminds you of that one moment where the main characters of a chick flick gaze into each others’ eyes and then kiss.
The sound of a text notification cuts off your train of thought and breaks the intense stare down going between the two boys, and you check your phone, eyes widening. “Oh my god, we’re going to be late if we don’t go now! Taeyong just texted me to confirm if we’re coming.”
The three of you hurry into the car, buckling up in your seats. Your hand lightly grazes Chenle’s amidst the rush, and you freeze. You look up, heat spreading across your face, as Chenle meets your gaze, turning redder than spaghetti sauce.
“Alright, you can continue this moment at the restaurant,” Jisung says loudly, jolting the two of you out of your stupor. You quickly retract your hand, mumbling a quick apology, and look away, cheeks still growing warmer than ever. Chenle awkwardly clears his throat and starts the car up, driving to your second stop on the map.
Penne for your Thoughts is simply lovely. It reminds you of a place you would see on the shiny cover of Architecture Digest: a hot spot where all those social influencers would take aesthetic snapshots and post to their Instagrams. The restaurant is quaint and spacious: a large area filled with lots of greenery, hanging plants in simple white ceramic pots, white painted brick walls, and wooden tables with soft cushions on each seat. Once you wrap up the interview with Taeyong, you are seated next to an open window with a great view of a pretty koi pond in the back.
“We serve Korean fusion style food here, and our spaghetti has a freshly made tomato sauce that includes chopped kimchi infused in it. We found that using garlic marinated pork belly makes a more flavorful meatball, which we char slightly, paying homage to the wonderful KBBQ samgyeopsal. We also found that a raw egg yolk on top adds a richness to the pasta, which is similar to a bowl of bibimbap. And there’s some grated Parmesan and mozzarella on top.” Taeyong sets the plate of gorgeous spaghetti in front of you and Chenle with a shy smile. “I hope you both enjoy it.”
You don’t know how else to describe the dish, except that it is beautiful (Just like the restaurant owner, like have you seen his face? Lee Taeyong is the true modern day Adonis, but you digress). You swear you saw Chenle wipe a tear from his face out of the corner of your eye. Practically salivating, you impatiently wait for Jisung to take a few close up videos and pictures of the dish before you immediately dig in.
Fork awkwardly hovering in the air, you pause, turning to Chenle. “Uh, cheers?”
His own loaded fork is halfway to his mouth when he halts. “Oh! Right. Yes. Um, cheers, Y/N.”
The two of you stiffly tap your forks against each other before facing forward again and finally taking the much desired bite. The flavors are bursting like fireworks, and if someone told you that you had died and gone to heaven, you would believe them because there’s no other word to explain the taste other than heavenly. Dante had many circles leading to the center of hell. If you are to apply the same concept to heaven, Legalize Marinara would be the first circle you enter once you go past the pearly gates, and Penne for your Thoughts would most definitely be the second.
The clinking of Chenle’s fork against the plate breaks you from your thoughts, and your good mood falters when you remember the incident again. You plaster a quick smile as you begin to describe the dish to the camera. Chenle chimes in with a wide smile of his own that looks a little too forced, but the only one who seems to notice is you.
Once the recording is wrapped up, Chenle drops you off at your apartment building for you to change into a more dressier attire for the last stop. He and Jisung will change at their place before coming back to pick you up for dinner.
Up next: Terrazza San Valentino.
Tumblr media
The place is positively breathtaking. It is an upscale restaurant with open seating on a terrace, leading to a beautiful view of the ocean. Wisteria vines and bright flowers weave their way through the twisting low iron fences encompassing the space as they climb the sides of the building. You have the perfect seat to witness the picturesque sunset over the rippling waters. A bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon had been brought out and now rests on the covered table, uncorked and already poured out into two glasses. It very much reminds you of the beautiful restaurants you visited along the Amalfi Coast, specifically Il Capitano in Positano. You only hope that the food here will be just as amazing as the pasta you ordered there.
You just wish your company was a little better. The atmosphere felt more awkward than the time your mom had set you up on a blind date with her coworker’s son. You had to text Chenle for help that time, and he came to your rescue, helping you escape after pretending to be your long lost son. Obviously, your date wasn’t dumb enough to believe that, but he did believe that you were completely off your rockers and immediately took off after that.
Sneaking a glance at your best friend, you sigh when you realize that he refuses to look your way. You carefully tuck the skirt of your wine red dress under your crossed legs. The sweetheart neckline emphasizes the simple gold necklace you have on, and the dress tapers off at your waist, accentuating your figure perfectly. You paired the outfit with a matching lipstick, a simple black clutch, and some elegant black heels with ribbons that loop around your ankles into a pretty bow.
In other words, you look stunning, and Chenle’s palms are growing sweaty. He undos the first few buttons of his white dress shirt, desperately wanting to take off his tailored suit jacket, but his attire would look much too casual without it. He avoids eye contact with you and remains silent, growing even more flustered by the second, and looks at Jisung helplessly.
Of course, his other best friend proves to be useless again (Disappointing, but not surprising). Jisung simply wriggles his eyebrows at him, eyes darting from you to Chenle, before zooming into his face at a very unflattering angle. Chenle throws him a dirty look, and Jisung merely sticks out his tongue in response. However, they immediately smoothen their expressions into much more pleasant ones when Jaehyun comes out with the plate of food on a small cart.
“This is our play on spaghetti.” He gives you a dimpled smile, and you briefly wonder if the customers rave about this restaurant because of the food or the chef. Perhaps it is a combination of both.
He continued to explain the dish, setting it down in front of you and Chenle. “We use strangozzi that is made fresh every morning. We infuse sun dried tomatoes that we dried ourselves into the olive oil for a minimum of thirty days. The pasta is cooked for sixty seconds, while we slightly sauté grated truffle in the oil in a pan. Once the pasta is ready, we transfer it to the truffle pan and cook it for another minute, making sure to coat the pasta in the sauce. And then we grate some Parmesan and truffles right on top at the table.”
Jaehyun pulls out the expensive mushroom, generously grating thin slices on top of the glistening strands of pasta. The smell is incredible, and your eyes are already hyper fixated on the dish in front of you. He puts down the mushroom and grater, picking up the second grater and the cheese from the cart before shredding the cheese perfectly.
When he finishes, Jaehyun places them back on the cart and smiles at you both charmingly once more. “I hope you enjoy your meal. If you need anything else, please feel free to ask.”
You thank him before he leaves, and Jisung takes all the necessary shots before giving the okay to start eating. You and Chenle offer up some comments about the elegance of the dish, describing its appearance and finally twirling some on the end of your fork. You murmur a quiet “cheers” as the two of you clink your glasses of wine together and take a sip before having the first bite.
The amount of money you have to pay to have a truffle dish is absolutely worth it. The taste is simply indescribable, and you truly have no words. You are blown away by the amount of flavor that can be created with just a few ingredients, and your taste buds are singing. Wide eyed, you turn to look at Chenle, who has the same astonished expression on his face, already staring back at you in complete surprise.
“Holy shit,” you breathe out, and your best friend agrees with you. “Holy shit indeed.”
You immediately go for another bite, and Chenle quickly follows suit. “This is— this is incredible. I don’t know how to describe it, except, except, wow. I can’t stop eating it, and the sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, fresh pasta al dente, and truffles just work so well together. It’s like a symphony in my mouth.”
“I agree,” Chenle nods enthusiastically, swiping another forkful of the yummy goodness. “This has to be one of the best dishes of the entire season.”
“Yeah, absolutely.” You spear a slice of the truffle with the pasta, and the ensuing bite is simply perfect and delectable. “I would come back here every single week if my bank account would let me.”
The stifled atmosphere between the two of you suddenly becomes relaxed at that point, the thick tension dissipating with food never failing to act as the perfect ice breaker and buffer simultaneously. For now, you can pretend the kiss didn’t happen and almost forget it (key word: almost).
“There’s a very popular fan suggestion,” Jisung pipes up, looking at the comment section of the previous video where you and Chenle announced your current recording’s star dish. “It got over twenty thousand likes and five hundred responses.”
“What is it?” You pause in eating, fork poised in the air, as you look over to your friend behind the camera. Chenle pays no attention, continuing to take another bite.
“Recreate the Lady and the Tramp moment.”
Your jaw drops, and your eyes grow round. Practically scandalized, your voice goes an octave higher. “You mean the kissing scene?!”
At the mention of kissing, Chenle chokes on a noodle, spluttering and nearly hacking up a lung, and you quickly reach over and firmly pat him on the back repeatedly until he stops coughing with a weak “thanks.”
“What? This is a food show! Why do they want us to kiss?” your best friend wheezes, and you pass him a glass of water. He grabs it from your outstretched hand gratefully and takes a large gulp.
“I don’t know, fan service? Anyway, it’s good for the views!” Jisung gives you a thumbs up, and you frown at him, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Why don’t you do it with Chenle then?”
“It specifically says you and Chenle,” he informs smugly with a smirk, and you glower at him, much to his amusement.
“Well, if it’s for the fans…” Chenle trails off, a faint blush beginning to make its appearance on his face. He hesitantly pulls out one strand of the pasta, picking up one end on his fork.
You can’t believe this. Yet, you slowly reach out for the other end of the strand with your fork, twirling it onto the metal prongs securely. You move to take your end of the noodle, while Chenle does the same, both of you actively avoiding eye contact.
“Oh c’mon, at least make it a little more romantic than that. Jeno and Jaemin have more chemistry than you two right now,” Jisung complains, and you would very much like to chuck the half full bottle of wine at his big, annoying head (Chenle also has similar thoughts).
Taking a deep breath, you finally place the noodle’s end in your mouth. Cheeks burning, you can feel your heart rate already skyrocketing at the mere thought of kissing your best friend again. You know you’ll freeze up if you look at him, so you do your best to focus your gaze on the center of the noodle strand. You’ll have some time before the two of you meet in the middle, right?
Wrong.
It comes much too soon, and your palms are growing sweaty as your heart races in your chest at a breakneck speed. Your lips are mere millimeters away from his, and you pause. You can’t hear anything, but the pounding of your heart and the blood rushing to your cheeks, and you finally find the courage to peek up at your best friend. You find him already gazing at you, a soft expression on his face. His eyes dart down to your lips before meeting your eyes once more, and you suddenly realize that he’s waiting for you, that he won’t do anything unless you want it too, that it’s okay if you don’t.
But you do.
So you muster up all the courage you possibly can and close the distance, carefully pressing your lips against his for a tender kiss before biting off the noodle. When you pull back, you finally notice the awestruck expression written all over Chenle’s face. He lets out a small laugh of disbelief before he positively beams, bouncing in his seat, and you sport a matching smile, albeit a little bashful.
“Uh, anyway, who left that comment? We should probably give them a mention,” you say, clearing your throat and hoping the heat subsides in your cheeks soon. Chenle continues to grin like the Cheshire Cat and secretly grabs your hand underneath the tablecloth, intertwining your fingers with his. You can feel your face exponentially growing warm once again, but you still send a pleased smile to your best friend.
“Uh…” Jisung awkwardly laughs, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “‘Insert goofy’s chuckle.’”
At Jisung’s answer, you freeze up entirely in your position before immediately turning and locking eyes with Chenle in complete horror, the both of you instantly coming to the same, dreadful realization.
“HYUCK?!”

spending new years with them
— ft. yuuji itadori, megumi fushiguro, satoru gojo, suguru getou
warnings: nothing but fluff ^_^
AN: this is a day late but oh welll! new years fluff! also i want to try write for jjk more :D
Tumblr media
࿔*:・゚ITADORI unsure of what to do for new years? the answer is a movie/binge night! we all know how much yuuji loves watching movies so he’d want nothing more than to do it w you! you two lay on his bed wrapped around each other, watching any movie of your choice, occasionally going back to channel some new years program is on just so you can do the cliché staying up to watch the ball drop thing. throughout this whole thing you & yuuji are taking many photos together, and yuuji posts one of you saying “going into the new year w/ my #1 :’)” SOBBING HES SO SWEET at some point in during the movie you fall asleep in yuuji’s arms, when he notices he holds you loser kisses your temple and whispers “happy new year y/n, hopefully i can be with you for another year” smiling to himseld as he sees you almost instinctively pull yourself closer to him
࿔*:・゚FUSHIGURO the two of you decide to be home bodies tonight since you both heard gojo is throwing a small party tomorrow anyways! megumi is a sucker quality time, so he’s more than happy to just stay home and relax with you! you two make instant ramen for yourselves but add your own garnishes to give it more flavor, while eating you guys mindlessly watch tv together making fun of all the dumb new years antics going on “y/n wanna go lie down?” “you say that like i have a choice” “...just, get over here” you laugh as you follow your boyfriend to his bed and lie on top him with the neighbourhood playing in the background, once it’s officially 12 you look at him, smile and say with a tired voice “yayy i can finally go to sleep now” he scoffs “you should’ve just slept as soon as you were tired, now good night.” you laugh into his chest “love you too megumi”
࿔*:・゚GOJO you two were just getting ready to go out with no particular plan in mind when your boyfriend looks at you and goes “y/n! want to go to as many different sweets shops before the year ends!” “is that even a question? yes. lets go. right now.” you loved that about satoru, his spontaneousness. one moment you’re getting ready the next, you both are going all over town to try different stores’ sweets. at each place you visit satoru makes sure to film the two of you eating it + a review which of course he sends to his students! they all love you but they’re so sick of him “its in case they ever want to go out and try it y/n! im just being a good teacher!” “satoru its 11pm just let them enjoy their break...” “no!” after this you’re going to be sick of sweets for a while, but in this moment, with satoru, everything is perfect and you couldn’t have asked for a better new years
࿔*:・゚GETOU he is lover of simple traditional dates, so thats what you guys do! suguru invites you to a fun night out for new years! it starts with the two of you walking around town, getting some street food together and browsing all of the tiny little items sold by local street vendors, you bought suguru a ‘happy new year’ headband and you had to basically beg him to wear it -_- but you finally got him to wear it and now you can use the photo for blackmail <3 once you guys have finally killed enough time for the fireworks show to start, you walk to the town park, where getou lays out a blanket for you to sit on while you watch the fireworks! suguru takes a candid photo of you with the fireworks in the background which he posts at exactly 12am captioned “heres to another year with my lovely y/n <33″

Samyang’s jjajang noodles come with spicy black bean paste. This is advantageous because that means you can make a decently faithful rendition of jjajangmyeon with this packet as your virgil.
for 3 servings, you’ll need about a half pound of pork belly, a cup of diced potatoes, a cup of diced zucchini, a cup of chopped onions, and a cup of diced daikon radish
pan fry your pork on medium heat in a big Boi saucepan or wok with around one tbsp of neutral oil until it browns. this will be around 4-5 minutes. toss in the daikon and the potatoes for around a minute. Then throw the other vegetables in and stir fry it until the onions get translucent. Once that’s done, make a well in the center of your pan and add two packs of black been paste from the samyang noodles, a cup and a half of water, and another tbsp of neutral oil. Cover that up and reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it reduce for around 10 minutes.
in the meantime, boil 3 of your samyang jjajang noodles. reserve the paste from the last one to add to crappier ramen you’ll inevitably buy in the future.
after that time passes, grab a bit of potato and radish and assess how tender they are. if they’re too tough, just sit back and wait until theyre not. if the veg is cooked properly, but the sauce is too thin, add some tablespoons of the starchy water from the noodles into the pan and let it thicken up.
that’s about all. I julienned the last bit of the zucchini I wasn’t using for garnish but it’s not, like necessary

the silver lining of bad first dates
summary: a date gone wrong. a walk in the rain. a simple conversation in a ramen shop. mundane slice of life and mutual pining with kuroo.
word count: 2.1k
author’s note and warnings: curse words galore. set in time-skip. pure word vomit. kuroo’s one of those characters that I’m so scared to even consider writing for because I feel as though I’ll never truly be able to “get” his character. whatever though, I tried.
This date fucking sucked.
Point-blank. No sugarcoating because the dude sitting on the opposite side of the dinner table was more interested in the JASDAQ than your name. Seriously, he couldn’t even be bothered to listen to you talk about your alma mater before he swooped in and started blanketing his insecurities with his recent Bitcoin investment.
Talk about lame.
Wine and hors d’oeuvres be damned, you were making an escape before he started mansplaining the economy. Even wagyu couldn’t save this candlelit disaster.
Making no attempt to be discreet, you whipped your phone out of your bag and typed up a quick text:
Mind picking me up? Shitty date.
Ping!
Seriously? Again? What’d this guy do this time?
Ping!
Send the address
Ping!
I swear, this is the last time I’m picking you up
You smiled at the screen, thumbs moving fast.
That’s what you said last week
A bubble with three dots appeared, disappeared, and reappeared.
Ping!
Five minutes.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
Like every cliché bad first date, the weather made sure to mimic the mood. The rainfall was nothing less than dreadful, a downpour that left the streets empty as most people kept indoors to avoid getting soaked.
“You’re so lucky that I didn’t have to work overtime tonight,” Kuroo began, standing close to you in an attempt to shield you both from the shower with his janky umbrella. “Otherwise, you’d be walking in the rain or sitting there having your dinner ruined from hearing that guy talk about his gains in the market.”
You laughed at the truth of his words. There really was no one else who knew you like Kuroo.
“And you know I would’ve walked in the rain out of the two options. I can’t believe someone so dick-ish exists that I’d bail out on a free meal,” you said, raising your voice over the heavy pelting.
Without any warning, a trio of college kids rushed past you two, not paying attention to the other pedestrians walking the sidewalks as their only priority in mind was making it back home before catching a cold. They had their backpacks held up to cover their heads, but it wasn’t much help as their clothes were completely soaked.
“See that?” Kuroo jabbed a thumb over his shoulder. “You would’ve been running like those kids all the way back to your apartment if I didn’t show up.”
You lightly elbowed him and rolled your eyes. Rain fell on your shoulder from the sudden movement, but Kuroo repositioned the umbrella to prevent you from getting wet. “As if,” you murmured, hugging your body in an attempt to keep warm. “Thanks for picking me up. Again.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’re oh so welcome,” he waved off your words and then cackled when you narrowed your eyes at him. Sometimes he really knew how to push your buttons. “Anyway, are you trying to date a bunch of crappy guys on purpose? Because I feel like that’s what you’re trying to do.”
“It’s not like I ask to go through a bunch of crappy first dates!” you said, letting out a huff of hot air. The past month had been riddled with unsuccessful first dates. Statistically speaking, you were an outlier; the average person probably went through a handful of bad first dates in a single year: you went through that number in a mere month. Multiple standard deviations past, you were way out of the norm. “Maybe I’m just a magnet for awful guys who only have a thing for themselves.”
Kuroo scoffed. “Or maybe you just like to make my life a little bit harder.”
You smiled at his words.
“Maybe.”
Besides the realization that you were like a honeytrap to flies when it came to bad first dates, another constant came from the start of it all: Kuroo. You weren’t expecting much from the first SOS call; really, just someone to walk you back home when it was late and the taxi fares were jacked up. But you would never forget the first time he waited for you outside that overhyped bar with a bag of take-out, his tie loosened and hair messy because he had just left the office and rushed to the nearest place that sold yakisoba for a decent price.
Maybe you did make his life a little bit harder. It was selfish, but whenever you had a bad date, you actually started to anticipate your escape because that meant Kuroo would be there for you.
He was your silver lining for the past month.
Red brick walls came into view once you two rounded the corner into a more secluded alley, revealing a familiar site that made you hungry. A neon sign which turned brighter due to the haze of the rain drew you in like a moth to a flame. It flickered, but still kept its light. Another constant.
Underneath the awning of the restaurant, Kuroo retracted his umbrella and shook the excess water off of it. He shoved it in the small bin filled with umbrellas belonging to the other patrons and dragged the soles of his shoes on the mat before pulling the door open.
“Let’s just get some ramen,” he said, ushering you inside. You took the first steps and situated yourself at a lone table. He followed and a waitress quickly took your orders, soon rushing back to the kitchen to help with the line of tickets pinned to the wall.
“Ramen on a rainy day,” you said, giving a low whistle. “You know your stuff.”
“Duh, ramen tastes best when you’re freezing,” he replied, pulling on his necktie to loosen it. He grabbed two pairs of chopsticks along with a pair of spoons, placing a set in front of you. “And it tastes pretty good after bad dates too.”
“You’re talking to the queen of bad first dates.”
“Oh, I’ve had my fair share too, Your Highness.”
As if on cue, two bowls of ramen were brought over from the kitchen along with an extra soft boiled egg as soon as he finished his sentence. The soup had small ringlets floating at the top from the fat of the broth along with bright green scallions acting as a garnish to offer a vibrant and appetizing color. Wasting no time, you both gave thanks and started to dig in.
“You know,” he started, breaking his chopsticks apart and dipping them into the broth. He pulled up a nice amount of noodles, the steam rising up higher than before. “I really think you should quit dating guys who suck.”
Following Kuroo, you did the same and blew at your noodles. “You say it like it’s easy.”
“It is. It’s so easy.” He ate a mouthful and swallowed before speaking again. “You have your top tier guys, your average guys, and then your totally shitty guys. I mean absolute trash—these are the guys you’re dating. Avoid them and all your problems will be solved.”
“Ugh, I feel like we go through this conversation after every single mishap of a date.”
Translation: Kuroo, you sound like my nagging mother.
“Because you never learn.”
Translation: I will nag at you all I want.
You sighed. “Love’s a lot more complicated than you make it.”
“Whatever. Just find a guy who isn’t an asswipe, and then we can talk.”
As you two continued to eat, the kitchen staff remained lively. The sounds of ceramic bowls clattering together along with the static hum of an old radio buzzing some city pop tune your mom would have listened to in her youth acted as background noise while chatting.
“So... what kind of guy do you think you are?” you asked, curious to hear his answer. Kuroo was in the middle of slurping his noodles and held a hand up to signal you to give him a second.
“Me?” He pointed at himself and you nodded. Who else would you be asking? “I’m your average guy.”
You frowned. “No way.”
“What, you think I’m an absolute trash kind of guy? Harsh.”
“No, I think you’re definitely top tier. Average guys don’t go out of their way to do stuff like this.”
Kuroo raised a brow at you and set his chopsticks down. His bowl was half finished, but he was more interested in what you had to say. “Stuff like what?”
“You know,” you motioned the space between you two, “doing this awful-first-date-rescue-at-the-drop-of-a-hat kind of stuff. No questions asked. Average guys don’t do that. Average guys just pay for your meal and maybe give you their jacket when it’s kind of cold. And sometimes they call you some gross pet name like...” You shivered at the thought. “Kitten or something.”
He looked slightly taken aback. “You don’t like being called kitten?”
“No, something about it sounds gross.”
“That’s just because you haven’t found the right guy to say it to you when—“
Not wanting to hear the rest of what he had to say, you quickly crumpled up a napkin into a ball and tossed it at him. He threw his head back, putting on an act as if you actually did any damage to him.
“Stop. Please. Enough. Don’t even finish what you’re going to say.” You went back to devouring your bowl, the noodles more soft than before. Still tasted great as you shoveled in mouthfuls. “I don’t wanf tew heur et!”
Sporting a disgusted look, Kuroo grabbed a few napkins from the dispenser and slid them to your side of the table. “Jeez, you eat like that whenever you’re on a date? Maybe I saved that guy from you.”
“Well, you’re the one stuck with all of this now,” you motioned a hand to your entirety and wiggled an eyebrow. “Consider yourself lucky.”
He held his chin in the palm of his hand and stared at you from across the table, eyes still holding a glint of amusement under the low lighting of the restaurant. His bowl was nearly finished, yet he focused his attention on you, allowing a small smile to grace his lips as he pondered your words.
You eyed him, his gaze feeling a bit different from before. “What are you doing?”
“Considering,” he said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“...It shouldn’t take you that long to,” you mumbled and ate another mouthful of noodles. He kept at it and soon started to crack up. When you narrowed your eyes at him, he shook his head and pushed another pile of napkins your way.
“There’s a scallion at the corner of your lips,” he tapped a hand on his bottom lip and cackled when you rushed to grab a napkin and wipe it away. Heat rose to your face and you sucked on your teeth.
“You know what? Forget about me calling you a top tier guy. It never happened.”
He placed a hand over his heart, wounded by your words. “It was kitten, wasn’t it?”
Unable to contain yourself, you laughed into your hand, shoulders shaking. You had to set your chopsticks down as you fanned your face, trying to get rid of the tears threatening to spill from the corner of your eyes. “If I ever heard that from another guy, I would walk out. The second the word came out of his mouth, I would pack up my things, leave, and never look back.”
“But you’re not right now.”
“I’m not.”
“Because I’m a top tier guy. Admit it.”
Because it’s you.
You shook your head and waved the white flag. “Right, that’s exactly it.”
Kuroo crossed his arms in front of his chest, satisfied with your answer. Like he won something from this conversation. He liked the way your lips tugged into a smile, not too tight, but enough to showcase the apples of your cheeks; he liked these nights when he could unwind after a long day of work and laugh about stupid pet names; he loved how easy it all was.
Consideration done and over with, he went back to finish his bowl, the steam from the broth no longer visible to the naked eye.
“Eat up or it’ll get cold,” he said and sipped on the broth. It was still warm, much to his surprise. “I’ll walk you back home when we’re done.”
You took small bites, prolonging the meal in any way possible: listening to him talk about his lazy cubicle partner, ordering another side of gyoza, folding a napkin to tell him his fortune through grade school methods. Both your bowls were empty, pushed to the side with a sliver of broth left as the focus was neither the food nor the JASDAQ jerk from hours before, but rather mundane conversation that went in circles until the shop emptied out.
A hundred dates could go wrong only for Kuroo to show up and make things right.
Maybe it was time for him to become more than a silver lining.

CHAPTER 1 - KIMCHI
[Reader] recently returned to Japan, after having been living abroad for a number of years. [Reader] found themselves living back in their old neighborhood of Meguro. It felt good being back in familiar surroundings, like many areas of Tokyo, things were constantly changing. There was a mixture of new establishments, along with old favourites. One of the new establishments was recommended to her by a neighbor, a ramen shop called, Sugoaku.
It had not long ago and was finding success fairly quickly, which in [reader]’s humble opinion was a good thing. Starting a business in the food industry was difficult in any location. But in Meguro, with competing with long-standing businesses that have tested time, and popular chain restaurants. There was still a risk of the business failing. However, those behind Sugoaku appeared to know what they were doing, confident in their skills and business know-how.
Business appeared to be doing well for Sugoaku, there were always at least a small handful of patrons in the restaurant at any given time, and (in [reader]’s opinion) their product was worth visiting multiple times a week. The menu never changed too much, typical of ramen establishments, which suited [reader]’s taste anyway. Instead, they always ordered the same type of ramen: a Tonkotsu ramen with normal noodle hardness. Depending on the day, often by recommendation, additions would be added: extra nori, a soft-boiled egg, extra Negi, and even extra cha-shu. The combinations were almost limitless.
With a rapidly growing business, it was only natural that the establishment would be at full capacity, with people lining up outside for a seat, during lunch and dinner rush hours. It wasn’t [reader]’s ideal situation. They had made that mistake once before and were sorely disappointed. Therefore, they attempted to visit Sugoaku after the rush, when the business was quieting down and the atmosphere was more at ease. Such was the case as one particular evening when [reader] went to Sugoaku for possibly the fourth time that week. It was a Sunday evening, and they had (thankfully) just missed the dinner time rush.
IRASSHAIMASE~
The chorus of welcomes greeted [reader] as they entered the restaurant and gestured to the server for a seat for one person. With the rush now over, it meant that the counter was close to being fully vacant, except for the odd random man or two minding their own business as they ate. Reaching their seat, [reader] scanned the kitchen briefly, inspecting who was currently present in front of them.
“Ahhhh~!” A light-hearted voice reached their ears, “you can’t seem to get enough of us!” [Reader]’s eyes stopped in the form of a pink-haired young man behind the counter, his smile growing a little wider as he watched them. The very same smile that they thought was incredibly infectious, as a smile of their own stretched across their lips. “Indeed,” they replied, their eyes flicking around the kitchen for the pink-haired man’s accomplice. “I’m just doing my bit to support a growing business, that is all.”
The pink-haired man was about to retort before a blue-haired man intervened, “it’s very considerate of you, thank you.” He had been on the restaurant floor, assisting their server to tidy up and had come up beside [reader]. Who had not heard his approach, and was slightly startled at his sudden appearance, which was not left undetected by him. “I’m sorry,” he murmured under his breath, [reader] strained to hear it but knew it was directed at them. They threw a smile in his direction, wordlessly telling him it was fine, “you’re welcome.”
The pink and blue-haired men were the owners of Sugoaku, twin brothers of stark contrasts. The pink-haired twin was Nahoya, playful, carefree, and had an ever-present smile gracing his lips. It always seemed that nothing ever bothered him, and it was often hard to take him seriously. He also often spoke his mind a little too much and says “I’ll fucking kill you” in such a nonchalant manner, that it never sat well with the self-entitled (alcohol-driven) late-night customers. He was rather cocky with [reader]’s patronage to their business. [Reader] wasn’t so sure what to make of it at first, but soon learned that he was just teasing and was appreciative of [reader]’s loyalty.
His blue-haired twin, Souya, was completely different compared to his brother. He always looked intensely irritated, looking like he was ready to jump over the counter to beat the next customer, who Nahoya just told to die. However, despite his face and gruff voice, he was the kinder of the two. He was always polite, spoke carefully, and was the one who calmed things down whenever things got heated between his brother and a customer. He was the one [reader] felt more at ease with, it was always easy to fall into a comfortable conversation with him. Like his brother he was appreciative of [reader]’s loyalty, he was the one who personally made sure your order was taken correctly; heaven forbid a part-timer messes up your order.
Souya hummed lightly in response, passing a few empty dishes to his brother, and with his hands now free, reached for a notepad and pen in his back pocket. “What will it be today?” He asked, amusement clear in his voice. A small smile crept along with your features upon catching the tone in his voice, “hmmm…” [reader]’s eyes flickered across their menu as they tried to make a final decision. After a brief moment, they looked up at the blue-haired man and set the menu down, “I’ll have the chef’s choice.”
Souya looked lost for a brief moment but wrote down their request nevertheless. As he did so, Nahoya let out a chuckle, “and which chef’s choice would that be~?” he called out, mischief fully lacing his voice. [Reader] looked over at the elder twin, “not yours,” they responded without missing a beat. There was no way in hell that they were going to let Nahoya choose whatever he wanted in your ramen; chances are he’ll make it spicier than his signature dish.
“Lame~” Nahoya simply shrugged his shoulders and continued what he was doing. Next to [reader], Souya let out a soft hum, “so, my choice then …” he was thinking of what to put together for them. “Is that all? Or would you like your usual sides?” [Reader] nodded in response, deciding that some gyoza and small fried rice on the side would be a good idea. “Noted.” Jotting down the final request to your order, Souya nodded his head and moved to join his brother behind the counter, in the kitchen.
As [reader] waited for their order, they mindlessly scrolled through their phone before setting it down and looked around the shop, before their gaze finally came to rest upon the twin brothers working in front of them. It was always a curiosity watching them work, [reader] was sure that it was all down to the fact they were twins. They worked in unison, both mindful of each other’s space, and did not always need words to communicate with each other. They were certain that they would never get bored watching the two men work together.
“What’s with that face~?” Nahoya’s voice sang out, startling [reader] into attention. “Uh…what?” [Reader] was so engrossed in watching the two men work, that they had become unaware of themselves and their surroundings. A blush dusted their cheeks as they looked between the two, Nahoya was chuckling to himself, and Souya, although poker-faced, held an amused look in his eyes. “Ah, nothing,” [reader] busied themselves at their seat, by taking a sip of their glass of water, which just earned them more chuckles from Nahoya, “… It’s just been a long day.”
“Bro, stop it,” Souya muttered, taking note of [reader]’s embarrassment as he finished off placing the last few garnishes on top of the fried rice he had just finished cooking. He knew that his brother’s laughing was not helping the situation, and he wanted [reader] to enjoy their visits to their shop, not dread it because of his brother’s constant teasing. A playful hum came from the elder twin, indicating nothing but trouble and Souya let out a deep sigh as he placed the bowl of fried rice in front of [reader], “your Gyoza and Ramen are coming…”
“[Reader] was just admiring my good looks as always, Angry~!” If it was entirely possible, Nahoya’s Cheshire Cat-like grin just grew wider, and in turn, if it was entirely possible, [reader]’s blush deepened. “That’s why they keep coming back.” He wasn’t wrong, both brothers were good-looking but to be called out like that was typical of Nahoya trying to get a rise out of them. “Nahoya…” [Reader] groaned in further embarrassment, pressing their face into their palm, missing the threatening look Souya cast over his brother. Letting out a sigh, they turned their focus to the fried rice that Souya made, beginning to eat it while it was still hot.
Meanwhile, Souya closed in on his older brother, nudging his shoulder as he did. “Tch, bro, hurry up with [reader]’s gyoza and noodles. Remember, normal firmness.” He pressed, hoping it would get his brother to work and off [reader]’s back. He had cooked off [reader]’s fried rice, which should’ve allowed Nahoya enough time to prepare the noodles and pan fry the gyoza, so he could start assembling [reader]’s order of “chef’s choice.” But his brother’s taunting of [reader] held up the progress line a bit, which annoyed Souya; it ruined the flow and synchronisation of how the brothers worked.
“Hurry up,” Souya muttered again, leaving his brother’s side and taking a visual sweep of the restaurant, nodding to a leaving patron who was at the cashier being seen by their part-timer. The business was slowing down for the evening, nothing too unusual, the slower pace allowed the brothers to relax and enjoy their work a little more. However, it did bother Souya when his brother slacked off a little too much or became a little too playful with their patrons. He picked up the water pitcher, glancing over at [reader] ’s snow empty cup, and refilled it. “Just ignore my brother,” he grumbled to them, hoping that they weren’t too embarrassed by Nahoya’s teasing. “Don’t be afraid to show him some attitude either. Otherwise, he’ll just walk all over you.” [Reader] glanced up to the blue-haired man, giving him a small smile of thanks for the refill, and let out a small laugh. “It’s quite alright,” they replied, picking up their glass of water and taking a sip. “I’m not that bothered by his antics.” Souya hummed in reply, his eyes flickering over his shoulder to his elder, “but still, don’t hold back if it gets too much.”
[Reader] gave Souya a reassuring smile, they enjoyed their time at Sugoaku especially when they were able to talk with the twins, especially Souya. There had been several times, they had considered giving them their LINE username, in an attempt to see them outside of the business setting; however, [reader] was unsure if it was unprofessional to do so. So for now, [reader] had to settle with their visits to the restaurant. “So, Sou-,” [reader] was about to attempt to strike up a conversation with Souya before the part-timer interrupted. “Boss, new order,” they announced, passing Souya the newly written receipt. “Thanks,” Souya waved off the part-timer, as his eyes flickered over to [reader], who nodded in silent understanding. A constant and expected occurrence, the interruption from new orders. It just encouraged [reader] to take their time eating at the restaurant, the longer they stayed there, the more time they stayed with the twins.
“New order,” Souya announced to his brother and the two seamlessly got to work. Nahoya had finished the [readers] noodles and was plating up the fresh gyoza, while Souya began cooking the noodles and setting up the tray of various plates and bowls for the new order. “M’dear~” Nahoya grinned at [reader], placing the gyoza in front of them, alongside a small plate of kimchi. [Reader] looked at the kimchi for a moment in confusion, they were sure that they didn’t normally order the side dish. So why was Nahoya placing it in front of them? “My treat,” he told them, “since Souya is going to make your bowl, this is my little contribution.” [Reader] let out a small laugh, those two brothers were truly a package, you can’t have one without the other. Even though they weren’t overly keen on the spicy fermented cabbage, as it was a little too spicy for their tastes. [Reader] began to pick at it, gingerly putting small amounts into their mouth.
“You don’t need to eat it,” Souya had spotted them pick at the side dish, as he was putting together a bowl of ramen, which [reader] assumed to be their order. The blue-haired man knew that they were being polite, and wished that his brother picked a different side dish to give them; a few pieces of karaage would’ve been sufficient. [Reader] looked over at Souya and gave him a sheepish smile, “Big bro likes to make his kimchi and makes it too spicy, despite how many times I tell him.” He continued, as he worked on the bowl adding on the finishing touches. “Maybe, if he notices you not eating it, he’ll get the damn hint.”
On the other side of the kitchen, Nahoya heard everything. “Oh ho~ What’s this lil bro? Recruiting [reader] to go against my kimchi~?” He sang out, his usual light and playful voice now having a threatening edge to it. “Just because you can’t handle a little spice, doesn’t mean they can’t either. Right, [reader]~?” [reader]’s eyes flicked between the two brothers, with the elder now getting a rise out of the younger’s comments. Their eyes settled on Souya, who was now placing the bowl of fresh ramen in front of them. His eyes were apologetic and clearly over it at the same time, the subject of Nahoya’s spicy kimchi must be one that had never been resolved. “Well …” [reader] began, their eyes flickering between the brothers and back down at the kimchi. “It is good kimchi …” in unison Souya looked deflated and Nahoya straightened in triumph, “but it is a little too spicy.” The moods instantly switched when [reader] finished off their verdict. Nahoya losing his trademark grin, with Souya looking over his shoulder with a clear ‘told you so’ look on his face.
“Well that sucks!” Nahoya bounced back, his grin plastered back on his face. “That just means one thing~ [Reader] you can be my official kimchi taster,” he declared, placing the next order on the counter for the part-timer to deliver to a customer. “Oi, table 15 is ready!” It was in that instant the near confrontation over the kimchi was forgotten, Nahoya had quickly moved on and began rinsing dishes to put into the dishwasher at the back of the kitchen. “That went better than I thought it would,” Souya commented, watching his brother’s back for a brief moment before drawing his attention back to [reader]. “I have given you a modified version of my specialty.”
[Reader] looked at the bowl of ramen in front of them. It was indeed Souya’s signature dish, which was called “Angry” and was a black Tonkotsu ramen. The broth gets its colour from a mixture of black sesame seed and black garlic oil, and despite appearances, the balance between the flavours was to perfection. Neither flavour overpowered the other or the other components of the dish. It was a quick favourite of [reader]’s, as it combined two of their favourite ingredients on the planet; not that they would admit that to Souya. His signature dish was, of course, a stark contrast to his brother’s which was a white Tonkotsu ramen, which was deceivingly spicy. Having known the twins for a while now, it was always amusing to [reader] how well their representative signature dishes reflected the personalities of each twin.
“So,” Souya began listing out the toppings he added to [reader]’s bowl. “We have the usuals there: menma, negi, cha-shu, and nori. I know you like corn and egg in your ramen, so I added those to your bowl.” The fact that he remembered [reader]’s favourite toppings, made them a little warm and fuzzy on the inside. Souya must make hundreds, if not thousands of bowls a day or week even, and he still made the effort to remember their usual order and favourite toppings. “Thank you, it looks great,” they replied softly, smiling at him.
“Itadakimasu~”
