“You got it clear, though?” He’d been digging his palm into the lower part of her back and felt the knot go. She nearly went limp against his side with a groan.

“Yup. Got a pretty upper level Cerberus goon to turn screwtape, too. And access to Aria’s Eezo mines for the Alliance.”

“So…not a bad haul, then.” Focus on what she’s focusing on and then ease into what happened before she left.

It startled him when she turned into him suddenly, knocking her head under his chin like a pushy cat. Her voice was muffled against his chest and her breath was warm and not a little sour. “I swear I didn’t mean to disappear for a week.”

He spanned the nape of her neck, hiding the streak of blood that dried there a day or so ago, rubbing slowly. “I know.”

Commander!Fenris au 👀

Very well, then, I shall share. :D

It's an AU inspired by this art from @lethendralis-paints of Fenris as the Inquisition's military commander instead of Cullen. No shade to Cullen, but I thought the idea was fascinating and wanted to explore it.

It's mostly a back-back burner project, simmering away for when I have time after oneshots/prompt fills/longfic chapters. (It might get an upgrade once I finish tLBT, bc I'm really having fun with it) So far I've only written two pieces (Full of Surprises and New Developments), and I have a couple sentences for a loose start to the next one, which is gonna be skipping to either the mage/templar recruitment quest. I'm leaning templars, both bc it's what this Inquisitor would do and to be different bc most people go mages, lol. Would probably involve a lot of Fenris and Cassandra talking, maybe sparring bc we know I love to write combat and that would be a fun way to include some :3

I had an opportunity to paint a song cover for two wonderful indie artists. They wanted a single cover that looks like stained galss and reflects both the theme of the song, as well as both artists personalities.

HERE IT IS, HERE IT IS!! @lethendralis-paints ever so kindly painted this for me before I even started posting this fic, and they have waited with incredible patience as I begged them not to post until this chapter went up. Now it's up and now I can share this, and oh my goodness, look at this beauty. I cannot get over the colors, the expressions, the details (the feather in his hat!) her little satchel, the colors...ahhhhh! The fairytale vibe is immaculate and squeezing my heart to bits.

This has really taken my breath away and I'm so grateful. If you ever have a chance to snag up a commission slot from Lethendralis, you gotta do so IMMEDIATELY, you GOTTA.

[Fic] Iron Bound [16/25]

Rating: G Characters/Pairings: Fenris/Hawke, Sebastian Word Count: 5.1k this chapter, ~96k total Summary: Fenris, captain of Starkhaven’s White Guard and the dearest friend of that country’s prince, has arrived in the kingdom of Kirkwall with a retinue of noble-born guards and a carriage brimming with lavish gifts. How else to win over the hearts of a suspicious mountain people who would rather break teeth on stone than accept the prince of Starkhaven stealing away their heir princess?

But stone is all they have in their kitchens lately, and gravel in their quarries and ice in their bitter rivers, and Starkhaven sits abreast the richest lea and moorland south of the Minanter.

And Sebastian Vael, the young prince of that country, needs a wife.

Fenris was not sure if he was dreaming. The white stone path under his feet—that felt real. The afternoon autumn sky filled with scudding clouds—that felt real, too, and the tremble of his hands, and the call of two angry swans in the fountains, and the shout of a groundskeeper after them.

But if the world were real, Sebastian’s words had been real, too, and that seemed impossible. Who was he to be given such things? A slave—nothing—less than nothing, a tool to be fed occasionally between sharpenings. And less even than that, because a slave knew his duty above all else, knew himself nothing without it. Fenris had been running from his master ten years. Even now he had failed in the single task demanded of him by his friendship with Starkhaven’s prince: to leave.

18. Lifting-off-the-ground hug

“Do you ever wish you were with someone a bit bigger?” Merill asked, dreamily staring off at the Tal Vashoth looming in the corner. She came back to herself, pinking a little at Hawke’s expression. “Oh, sorry, that’s rude, isn’t it? I was just thinking how nice it would be to be lifted by a pair of big arms.” 

“Fenris can lift me,” Hawke laughed. “In fact, I think if I took a running start, Fenris would catch me every time. Here,” she said, gesturing over to him at the bar, “Here he now. Let’s test his not-big-enough-for-Merrill arms.” 

Hawke slid out from her chair and started moving across the tavern, picking up speed. 

Fenris’s smile quickly fell away into a look of fear at her approach. “Hawke, my hands are--” was all he got out before Hawke launched herself and he dropped two tankards to catch her. He turned her momentum into a spin, laughing despite the wasted ale. 

“Why?” he asked when he set her down on the sticky floor. 

“I just wanted a chance to appreciate what your arms are capable of.” 

“And are you satisfied?” 

“Always,” she said with a kiss to his nose.
