hc’s about falling in love with your childhood best friend.
Tumblr media
masterlist.
warnings: swearing ig?? it’s fluffy, mainly. i tried to make it fairly gender neutral in terms of the reader.
notes: hi uh these were supposed to be for the dekusquad but they ended up being SO much longer than i originally intended so i cut down on the characters ;-; i struggled with bakugou’s but his ended up being the longest??? idk man, hope you guys like it <3 these are seriously just drabbles in disguise
Tumblr media Tumblr media
izuku midoriya
you met at an author meetup at the local bookstore. the book was a biography about all might, ofc you were bound to meet
you were in front of him in line and he shyly complimented you on the all might t-shirt you had worn
you two basically spent the entire time talking to each other about your favourite pro heroes as you waited in line
by the time you got to the front, you were so engrossed in your own conversations that both inko and your mom figured it would just be better to take you two home for a playdate instead
since you were friends with midoriya, that meant bakugou was also in your little circle
you stood up to him a couple times and always checked up on midoriya after kacchan’s tiny tantrums
midoriya appreciated that, and you two were practically inseparable
bakugou always accused you two of teaming up against him
you would simply link arms with midoriya, tilt your chin up high and say that you were a full package deal. two peas in a pod. two halves of a whole, always
midoriya’s face seemed to be permanently red that entire day
you two were pretty dedicated in school, with you wanting to persue your top picks for high school. that meant that there were lots of study dates between you two
during those study dates, midoriya couldn’t help if his gaze lingered on you just a bit more than his notes about quirk laws
he realized he was in love with you when you had stayed after school to look for the notebook kacchan had burnt
“you don’t have to do this, y/n. i can find it on my own… i don’t want to make to make you stay any longer.”
“don’t say that, izuku. i don’t mind. besides, we always stick together and we will even after you get into ua!”
“a- after i get in?” he spoke in a disbelief. everyone had doubted him, everyone had told him that he needed a quirk in order to get in but not you
you stayed. you supported him. you believed in him.
he grabbed your hand on instinct, startling you. “i- i-” he began stuttering, eyes darting about as the feelings he hadn’t realized resurfaced
“thank you.”
you gave him a gentle smile, chest feeling light as your hand encased in midoriya’s squeezed his own comfortingly
“full package deal, remember?”
he nodded, his smile jittery and shy. you giggled, blush dancing on your cheeks as you went on your next rant about how kamui woods could totally beat mount lady in a fight
midoriya gripped the straps of his backpack, chest feeling light and his head feeling dizzy with all the new thoughts of you flooding his mind
oh yeah, he was definitely in love with you
Tumblr media
shouto todoroki
you were his neighbour
well, more accurately, your grandparents were his neighbours and you visited often
your grandparents made you get the mail in the mornings and sometimes you would see him outside in the front yard with his mother. you would wave to him, and he would give a timid wave back after some encouragement from his mother
you would play outside with your grandfather, flying your tiny kite and playing catch with him
until you noticed there was a boy lingering near the fence separating the both of your houses
he was watching the relationship you had with your grandfather curiously, almost as if there were a bit of envy in his eyes
being the kind child that you were, you went over to him and passed the small ball between the rungs of the fence to him
shouto was hesitant, but eventually took the ball from your inviting grip and tossed it back and forth between his hands testingly
this began a little game between you two
he would toss the ball over the fence, and you would throw it back over to him
you didn’t quite understand why he couldn’t come on the other side of the fence to visit properly, but that was okay
you two would spend hours by the fence, sitting and talking you would give him tiny daisy chains made from the flowers in your grandma’s garden
he wouldn’t tell you, but he kept each one you gave him on his windowsill
he would compliment you a lot, too
not that he knew what that meant, he was simply stating facts to you
“i like your hair. it’s very pretty.”
“you’re very strong. you throw over the ball like it’s nothing.”
“you want to become a hero? i think you would be the best one.”
“your smile makes me want to smile, too.”
all of his words make your heart do somersaults
sometimes when you’re sitting with your backs to the fence, leaning up against each other, you feel the heat of his left hand ghosting your fingers. you don’t know why that made you feel shy, but it did
one day before you were supposed to go back home to your parents’ house, you went to go say goodbye to shouto
he was sitting there normally, but his head was hung low so you couldn’t quite see his face
as you approached him, you noticed that there was a bandage covering his left eye
“sho?”
he said nothing as you sat down
“mom says i have to go now,” you tell him. he says nothing, again
“um… are you okay?”
an indiscernible noise comes from the small boy. you press your face right up against the one barrier separating you two. he looks up to see you worried. you didn’t like seeing him so upset
then an idea came to you
“before i go.. let me kiss it better.”
shouto looked at you in bewilderment
“you’re not… afraid?”
“no, why?” you asked in a confused manner, yet shouto remained hesitant
“come here, please,” you asked of him, “before mom catches me kissing a boy.”
pink dusting over his cheeks, he slowly crawled his way over to where you still kept your face against the fence. your gentle lips met the fabric of his bandage. the scent of something burnt catching in your nose as you did
“you’ll come back?” shouto asked quietly. you nodded, promising him
he nodded back in understanding, the tiniest of smiles appearing across his features
“i’ll be waiting.”
Tumblr media
katsuki bakugou
you had been in the same class since kindergarten, meaning that you knew him before he had his quirk
even so, you thought he was pretty cool
the reason for that? well, you weren’t exactly the most well liked kid in school. children were ruthless, and there was always a bottom of every social ladder between preschoolers
you got teased a lot. they pulled your hair, made fun of the way you cried, poked fun at the shoes and shirts you wore despite them being your favourite ones
you were different. they didn’t like that
the world seemed completely against you
during a colouring activity, the box of crayons you were holding was smacked out of your hands. your bottom lip quivered as the same boy taunted you to no end about how clumsy you were
you simply bent over to pick them up before hearing another voice call out
“oi, picking on small fries like that is lame.”
looking to your left stood katsuki bakugou, looking bored and disinterested in helping you out. but your bully stopped in his tracks. being called lame?? by the great tiny katsuki bakugou??
no one had ever stood up for you like that
even though he didn’t help you pick up your crayons, it felt like you had some type of ally in this class
slowly, you connected two and two together
if you stayed around bakugou, no one could pick on you anymore! so you glued yourself to him practically every day
at first, he found it annoying, but after seeing that you admired him up close, he liked the attention that feuled his ego, so he kept you around
because you followed him around so much, you picked up a lot of things from him. he taught you how to defend yourself, and you taught him that some extras didn’t deserve as much attention as he was giving him. it was better to walk away sometimes
you ate lunch together, he came over to your house to play heroes and villains, he even showed you his secret all might poster collection. you were his person to talk to
he even had a katsuki bakugou™ nickname for you: small fry
you two were quite the duo. bakugou went from simply tolerating you, to gradually beginning to care for you being around
and as you grew up with him, he caught himself beginning to admire the strong, gorgeous person you had become all on your own. it seemed he had developed a bit more than just a simple friendship bond with you
did he ever tell you that? fuck no
you knew bakugou had always been rather… brash
but you absolutely drew the line in the sand when he wouldn’t stop picking on midoriya for being quirkless. that one day where you walked into that classroom to meet bakugou and his group of friends only to see bakugou telling some green haired kid to jump off the building because he would never make it into ua without a quirk. he was different
bakugou turned to leave and he saw you standing in the doorway with a bit of an angry, hurt expression on his face
“small fry, thought you were never gonna show up.”
“... lame.”
“hah? what did you say?”
“i said it’s lame picking on small fries like that just because they’re different,” you spat at him. his eyes stayed fixated on you as you walked past him, helping the smaller boy off the floor and asking if he was okay
normally, if it were anyone else, bakugou wouldn’t care. at all
but it was you
 you were different
and all he did was act like he didn’t care. why? he didn’t know. but what he said to you that day came out rash and hurtful. you two had your fights before, but this had struck a chord with you. no one deserved to be treated like how you were back in preschool. that hurt
he didn’t realize how much you meant to him until you stopped inviting him over, you stopped eating lunch with him, you stopped texting and that bothered him
the one person who he wanted to admire him didn’t anymore
so it was a surprise to you that he waited for you to be finished your club after school to talk
“small fry, listen. oi! i said listen up!” you kept walking, but he stopped you by grabbing your wrist
“what? what is it? what can you possibly say to make things better? how could you treat people like that?”
“come back.”
“what?”
“i said, fuck- come back, y’know, eat lunch with all the extras again.”
“no.”
the frustration showed true on bakugou’s features. his cheeks were turning red, you figured from the anger he was feeling towards you yet his voice dropped
“i didn’t mean that shit back there. i was angry. fuck, i.. you want me to apologize or some shit, right. heard you small fries like that.” he shifted uncomfortably, his clammy hand still holding your wrist in a firm grip, as if you would walk away from him any moment now
“sorry, or whatever.” he mumbled out in the smallest voice you had ever heard bakugou speak in
your heart stopped as he looked at you with such sincerity. you held his gaze, eyes locked on his before you shook your head
“i don’t forgive you for saying what you said and doing what you did, but i do trust you. and i know that you’re better than that. you’re not lame. but if you seriously do that again, i’m not giving you any more chances.”
relief came flooding back to bakugou at your words, but his face fired up almost instantly as you moved your hand so that your fingers intertwined with his
“now c’mon, the new all might special is airing tonight, if we hurry we can still make it to my house.”
“don’t speak so fucking loud! ... damn small fry.”

The Beginning of Birthday Traditions
[MHA - Bakusquad]
summary: The Bakusquad has trouble coming up with a way to wake up Bakugou for a midnight birthday celebration that doesn’t result in them being buried six feet under. Mina then reveals a plan that would get the birthday boy to wake up with a smile on his face. (platonic Bakusquad tickle fic)
potential warnings: swearing, tickling
words: 2.1 k
a/n: how could i not write a lee blasty boy fic for his birthday ?? i absolutely  l o v e  the bakusquad they are literally so wholesome :,) anyways i hope you guys enjoy!
--
“It’s physically impossible to wake Bakugou up in the middle of the night and survive,” Kaminari tried reasoning with his friends. It was only a few minutes past midnight on April 20th, meaning that it was officially Bakugou’s birthday. The Bakusquad was currently gathered inside of Kirishima’s dorm discussing how they should go about celebrating the special occasion. Specifically, trying to figure out a way to wake up the birthday boy in the next dorm over that didn’t end with them getting sent to their graves.
“But we can’t just do nothing! The Dekusquad already threw a little midnight party on Tsu’s birthday,” Kirishima argued.
Sero gave a dejected sigh, “Yeah, you’re right. We can’t let them one-up us like that. I just wish there was a way to avoid him getting pissed at us for waking him. It honestly might ruin the whole birthday mood.”
Mina, who had chosen to stay silent and patiently listen to the hopeless discussion, decided that this moment was the perfect time to pull out and reveal her wild card to the rest of the group. With a small smirk and excited gleam in her eyes, she said, “Ahem, I may have some super exclusive, top-secret info that could allow us to wake up Blasty for his birthday and live to see the light of day.”
All heads immediately turned towards Mina, their gazes both intrigued and dangerously curious. Kirishima eagerly encouraged, “... go on..!”
Mina pulled out her phone and motioned for the boys to come closer. Without hesitation, they all crowded around the small device before Mina started playing a video.
The visual was extremely dark, but they could still make out the vague silhouettes of two boys. They seemed to be struggling against one another, the taller one fighting to get away from the shorter one’s strong hold around his sides. The audio was very faint, so the group had to strain their ears to hear what was happening.
“If we w-weren’t in the dorms right now I would not he-hesitate to blast your ass into nehext week,” a gruff voice threatened quietly.
Another voice gasped, and then spoke teasingly, “Did the Kacchan just giggle?” The shorter boy’s hands then traveled further up the taller one’s torso, going up to his ribs, and not even two seconds later, not-so-quiet laughter could be heard echoing throughout the dark room.
The camera recording suddenly turned towards the ground and started shaking around, showing Mina’s blurry, socked feet quickly pattering away, before the video abruptly ended.
The Bakusquad slowly brought their heads back up to face one another, the boys all sharing the same dumbfounded, gaping expression and Mina looking smug as hell.
Kaminari was the first to speak up, barely able to contain his newfound excitement. “No way. No. Freaking. Way.”
A mischievous smile formed on Sero’s face as he said, “This is just too good to be true.”
“I know right!!” Mina exclaimed, obviously very proud of capturing the personal and adorable Bakugou moment. “Who would’ve guessed that our resident boom boy is ticklish?!”
“Sooo.. we’re all thinking the same thing right?” Kirishima asked, looking over at each of his friends expectantly.
“Oh yeah, definitely,” Sero said, while Mina and Kaminari nodded in agreement.
“”So what are we waiting for?!” Kaminari declared while standing to his feet. “Let’s go give the birthday boy the wake-up call of a lifetime!”
After the rest of the Bakusquad got to their feet, they all excitedly rushed out of Kirishima’s dorm and into the hallway. Once outside of Bakugou’s dorm, Kirishima pulled out the spare key the blonde had given him that was supposed to be used strictly for emergencies, but he honestly thought that their mission could be considered a birthday crisis of some sort.
Kirishima unlocked the door and quietly pushed it open, just enough so that he could briefly peek inside to make sure that Bakugou was asleep. He then pushed the door wide open, allowing him and the others to sneak inside the pitch black room. They made sure to close the door behind them and leave the lights off, but the group could still see each other’s shining, playful grins.
The Bakusquad crept over to Bakugou’s bed and saw him sleeping peacefully and softly snoring. Perfect. Kirishima and Sero crouched down onto the ground near the foot of the bed and gently pushed the blanket out of the way to reveal Bakugou’s bare feet. Meanwhile, Kaminari and Mina quietly climbed onto the bed and settled themselves on either side of the sleeping boy.
From the floor, Kirishima motioned for them to start putting their plan into action. After a quick nod, Mina slipped one of her hands underneath Bakugou’s tank top and started lightly tracing her fingertips along his bare stomach. Not long after, his face scrunched up and his body slightly curled inwardly on itself, trying to escape the soft sensations.
Deciding to step it up a notch, Mina ran her fingers over his side, not too hard as to immediately wake him up, but just enough to get him sleepily squirming. Bakugou lazily brought an arm down across his torso, his unconscious mind telling him that it was just a bug.
Desperately wanting to get in on the action, Kaminari slithered his own hand underneath Bakugou’s top and slowly dragged his slightly wiggling fingers from the birthday boy’s stomach up to his ribs.
Bakugou twitched awake, sleepily whining a small, “Son of a-” before he opened an eye to see what had woken him up while Kaminari and Mina quickly retracted their hands. He had definitely not been expecting to see people sitting next to him on the bed in his dorm, causing his eyes to widen and his body to jolt out of shock. Once his sleep-filled mind had actually caught up to what he was seeing, Bakugou was able to recognize and identify the two smiling faces as Mina and Kaminari. He let out a small sigh of relief before relaxing his body and closing his eyes again, mumbling, “Pinky? Dunce? Th’ hell you two idiots doin’ in my bed ‘n the middle of th’ goddamn night?”
“Actually, there are four idiots. Kiri and I are here too!” Sero pointed out with a suspicious amount of energy and excitement, but Bakugou was so tired that he honestly couldn’t care less.
In fact, the blonde had already started falling back into the depths of sleep, only letting out a small, “Mhmm.. get out losers,” in response.
Kirishima dragged a singular finger down the length of one of Bakugou’s feet. “C’mon Bakubro, you gotta wake up!”
Bakugou’s breath hitched before he immediately pulled the attacked foot back underneath the protection of the blanket. “Don’t do tha’ shit. I- Jus’ let me sleep, guys.”
Kaminari butted in, bravely placing a hand on Bakugou’s shoulder to gently shake him awake, “But we need you awake! Do you even know what day it is?”
Bakugou shrugged Kaminari off and completely ignored his question, instead tiredly mumbling, “Make sure to lock th’ door on your way out.” A few moments of silence passed, and the birthday boy was on the cusp of falling back into a deep sleep, when he suddenly felt soft fluttering on both of his feet and down his sides. Fingers were lightly grazing over the balls of his feet, dipping into the arches, and circling the heel before going back up and starting all over again. Small squeezes were given spontaneously along the length of both sides of his torso, traveling from his waistline all the way to his lower ribs.
He tried to pull away from the gentle touches, but found that all four of his limbs were being pinned to the bed. Shit. He was so screwed. Bakugou tightly squeezed his eyes and tried to keep his mouth clamped shut, but he couldn’t prevent the tired smile and sleepy giggles from inevitably escaping. Normally, he would be fighting like hell to keep his laughter under control, but he was freaking exhausted dammit! “Whahat the- shihihit! What do you dahahamn extras think you’re doHOHOING?!” Bakugou’s laughter unconsciously became more desperate and louder when Kaminari suddenly wiggled his fingers higher up on his ribcage.
Noticing the increased reaction, Mina started focusing her tickling on his higher ribs as well. “We’re tickling you! I thought that was pretty obvious.”
Bakugou tried to thrash his way out of his captors’ grasps, but he was heavily outnumbered and disadvantaged. Still, there was no harm in fruitlessly trying. “Leheheheave me alohohohone! I’m nahahahat even tihihihickli-AHAHahaha!”
“Hmm.. I don’t know, dude.” Sero playfully teased. He pulled back Bakugou’s toes with one hand, using the other to gently flutter his fingers on the sensitive space in between, rewarding him with more thrashing and a shriek that dissolved into uncontrollable laughter. “Seems like you’re pretty ticklish to me.”
“NOHOHOHO I’M NAHAHAHAHAT!! WHIHIHIHI-WHY ARE YOU ASSHOHOHOLES EVEN DOHOHOING THIHIHIHIHIS?? HAHAHAVE A DEAHAHATH WIHIHISH OR SOHOMETHIHING?!” Bakugou attempted to threaten his friends, but his bright smile, joy-filled laughs, and adorable blush covering his face counteracted the murderous words.
Kirishima was dragging his index finger along the padding of Bakugou’s toes, occasionally dipping down in between them and giving a little wiggle, causing the blonde to give out a little squeal each time. “Because it’s your birthday!”
“Yeah, we have to wake you up so that we can celebrate together!” Kaminari exclaimed. He moved both of his hands to grab at either side of Bakugou’s hips and repeatedly squeezed. With his head thrown back from the force of his hysterics, Bakugou bucked his waist left and right, trying to dislodge Kaminari’s fingers.
“YOHOHOHOU IDIOHOHOTS ARE GONNAHAHAHAHA REGREHEHEHE- AAAAAAAHHAHAHAHA!!” Bakugou started pulling at his arms desperately, bouts of laughter pouring freely out of his mouth, as Mina trailed her hands upwards until they wiggled against his highest ribs, only an inch or two away from his armpits. “NAHAHAHAHAHA! NO MOHOHOHOHORE, NOHOHOHOHO MOHOHOHOHORE!!”
With a villainous look in her eyes, Mina dug her fingers into the spot with more purpose and vigor, while Bakugou absolutely lost his mind to the sensations. “We’ll stop as soon as you promise that you’re gonna have tons of fun on your special day!”
Sero quickly half-jokingly added, “AND that you won’t kill us for waking you up.”
“OKAHAHAY OKAHAHAHAY!! WHAHATEHEVER JUHUHUST LEHET MEHE GOHOHOHO!!”
“Not enough, Bakubro. You gotta say that you promise!” Kirishima teased.
“ALRIHIHIHIHIGHT IHIHIHI PROHOHOHOMISE!!”
Kaminari leaned down next to Bakugou’s ear, brought his hands up to his bare armpits and started creating feather-like flutters while whispering, “Say that you pinky promise, birthday boy~”
Bakugou’s blush only deepened as he fell into silent hysterics for a few moments, tears of mirth gathering in the corners of his eyes. Seeing that Bakugou was being tickled beyond the point of responding, Kaminari mercifully stopped his fluttering, but kept his hands rested on Bakugou’s armpits and slowly drummed his fingers against the soft skin. Once able to verbally form sentences again, Bakugou pleaded, “Pihihihinky prohohomise! Ihihihi pihihihihinky prohohohohomise!!”
The Bakusquad all immediately ceased their tickle attacks and released their hold on Bakugou’s limbs. The blonde quickly tucked his arms and legs back underneath the blanket and curled in on himself, trying to catch his breath and slow the stream of leftover giggles pouring out of his mouth. “Dohoho nohot e-hehe-ever doho thahat agahain asshoholes.”
“No promises on that one, Blasty,” Mina declared while Sero and Kirishima got up from the floor and joined the others on top of the already-crowded bed.
“Oh yeah, we’re totally doing that again!” Kirishima excitedly commented. “We’ve seriously gotta make wake-up tickles a birthday tradition in the squad.”
Bakugou groaned fondly at their silliness, a soft smile still present on his lips. The others all shared a look with one another before exclaiming, “Happy birthday, Bakugou!!”
When the birthday boy looked up, he saw his friends all wearing the same stupidly huge smile on their faces and doing dramatic, and surprisingly synchronized, jazz hands that they must’ve practiced on together for hours. He let out a few chuckles, “Yeah yeah, whatever losers. So what are we gonna do for the next five hours before class starts?”
“Wanna go raid the kitchen for snacks and play Mario Kart?” Sero suggested.
“Obviously, just don’t throw a tantrum when I completely dominate all of your asses!” Bakugou quickly challenged.
“Tough words for someone who’s deathly ticklish…” Kaminari teased with a knowing smirk.
Bakugou buried his head into one of his pillows to hide the oncoming blush and nervous smile quickly spreading across his face. “... shut up..”

SO! I was listening to a bkdk playlist and a scene hit me. Picture this: Katsuki being the one to pack up Izuku's room at the dorms. I know more then likely they just left it, but what if they didn't. And what if Inko couldn't do it because she was at one of the protective shelters. The dekusquad goes to do it and Katsuki freaks. Finally they compromise- the room still needs to be packed but Bakugo will be the one to do it. He claims it's because "the nerd is particular about how his hero merch is handled" and he's "the only one that knows how to pack it".
Let's take it a step further. As he's packing, Katsuki finally reaches the book shelf with all the Campos Notebooks (Hero Analysis for the Future). He sits. He picks up volume one and opens it. He sits there all night reading the notebooks, and is for some reason surprised that he is featured in every single one. Updates on his quirk and progress and costume ideas. Even hero name ideas around the time Kacchan was struggling with that. No one sees him crying. No one sees the way he clutches the burnt #13 notebook to his chest has he's racked with regret. No one see the hope that returns to his eyes when he reads the latest- unfinished- volume that has the most notes about him, and their training sessions together, with scribbles in the margins about the progress of rebuilding their friendship and maybe being the Wonder Duo someday. Izuku is the only one who sees Katsuki's face when he appears in the sky, there to rescue him, looking at him with fresh hope because he has Izuku's words now written on his heart.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

some of the best fantasy au fics for bnha that i've read
i decided to make a fic rec list of one of my favourite aus/fusions. mostly midoriya-centric, there are some crossovers (with hp), and a lot of different ways in which the authors have taken them - so it could be Quirks, ghosts, outright fantasy aus, spirits, witches etc etc. there isn't a specific order and there aren't a tonne (these are the ones i could find buried in my bookmarks lol), but the ones on the list are all really well written i love them.
i've tried adding relevant information, the summary (shortened if it's pretty long) and just. adding some random tags that may be important. not all of them though. obviously this is not a complete list and there will most definitely be more fics out there, if there are some really good fics that you know that aren't on this list, feel free to tell me, i'd love to read them!!!
i hope someone enjoys these!

So Much Worse Than A Phantom Limb, Chapter 4 [PREVEIW]
"You been doing your homework, nerd?" he barked as he barged into the room. Izuku was propped up by pillows and elbows deep in their quirk theory textbook. His head snapped up and he looked at Katsuki with wide, slightly red eyes. "And have you been sleeping?"
"Do the homework or get sleep, Kacchan. Can't be both." Izuku replied, a little bleary.
"They are never gonna let you out of the hospital if you don't take care of yourself, fucker," Katsuki snapped. "You know that."
"I'm trying to catch up!" he cried, frustrated.
Katsuki glared at him fiercely. "If you focus on your physical health now, it'll be easier to do the catch up. It'll go faster because your body will be able to handle it. Do this shit the right way, nerd. You know I'm right."
Izuku pouted. It was not cute. It wasn't. "I just feel pathetic," he mumbled.
Katsuki took a deep, calming breath. Yelling in the hospital was bad form. "You nearly got  fucking deleted by a villain, Deku. Two weeks isn't enough time to fully recover from two months of internally dissolving. What if it were me in the bed? What would you tell me?"
Izuku flushed and looked at Katsuki sheepishly. "Oh."
"Yeah, oh," Katsuki mocked him. "I get being restless, but you gotta be smart, dumbass. Take it easy in the beginning and work your way up to doing more every day."
"Fine." Izuku flopped back into his pillows.
"Take a nap while I check over your work," Katsuki instructed. "I'll wake you up when its time to review."
"Don't you have your own homework?"
"Yeah, but I'm basically studying by checking your work," he shrugged.  "Don't sweat it. I got some of it done during lunch, and I'll get to the rest after they kick me out."
Izuku seemed to know better than to argue with him (for once), and settled in to take his mandated nap while Katsuki picked up his binder of makeup work and began to flip through it.
Katsuki, Momo, and Aizawa had come up with a makeup plan for Izuku almost as soon as he'd woken up. It included a lesson plan, the notes and study guides that they had compiled, and a binder of assignments that he'd have to complete in order for Aizawa to deem him caught up enough to take the semester's final exams.
It meant that Izuku would likely be working to catch up for the duration of their two- spring vacation, and he wouldn't be entirely caught up for a while. He was months behind his classmates after he'd been doing so well and it frustrated him to degree he'd never experienced before. It made him angry.
Fuck Hiroki Takeda. Izuku wanted to Detroit Smash him in the face for stealing two whole months from him. For terrifying his friends and family, too. He kinda wanted to slap the villain's head off. But he wouldn't because he was a hero. Dammit.
Katsuki let Izuku sleep for two hours before waking him up to go over corrections. He could feel Deku's bubbling frustration, even as he tried to absorb what he was being taught with a positive attitude.
"Oh good, you're still here." Deku's doctor let himself into the room and addressed Katsuki. They were reviewing the math assignment that Izuku had done almost perfectly. There were a couple slip ups, but they were minor. Better safe than sorry, though. Both boys looked up at the intruder, blinking owlishly.
"Uh...yeah," Katsuki uttered intelligently.
"Hope you're not overworking yourself, Midoriya," the doctor warned, eying them suspiciously. "Or else I might rethink my decision to discharge you and allow you to complete your rehab in Recovery Girl's care."
Izuku's eyes widened. Damn, Recovery Girl worked fast. Katsuki was impressed. "What?" Izuku yelped, jolting forward.
"I understand that you've agreed to be his primary caregiver in the dorm, Bakugou? You're planning on managing his recovery and academic plans?" the doctor continued as though Izuku hadn't interrupted. "That had a fairly large bearing on my decision, so I'd like to confirm some details with you before I officially sign off on it."
Katsuki nodded, even as Izuku turned those wide eyes on him. "What?" Izuku demanded.
Katsuki ignored him. "Yeah, that's the plan. Our classmates will be helping, but I agreed to be the main contact. Aizawa will be monitoring his progress, too, so that'll be an extra set of responsible adult eyes on the nerd."
"That's good to know," the doctor agreed, both of them ignoring Izuku's incredulous sputtering. "If we do this, Recovery Girl will be taking over as the primary physician. You'll need to go to her for weekly checkups and report any problems to her as soon as possible. I've already sent her the care plan we've following, but I'd like to go over it with you. There are a lot of physical therapy exercises that he'll need to do daily, and a fairly strict diet plan. He'll also need to take medications, and there are signs of fatigue you'll need to watch for."
"Kacchan, you don't need to—"
Katsuki cut him off with a ferocious glare. "Do I ever—ever—do anything that I don't want to do?"
Izuku opened and closed his mouth a few times, looking like an odd green fish out of water. "N-no?"
"Then shut up and let me talk to your doctor, nerd."
"O-okay. Alright," Izuku complied, sitting back but not taking his huge, amazed eyes off of Katsuki. He tried very hard not to flush under the scrutiny.
"Hit me, doc."
The doctor (who was thoroughly amused by the two flustered boys) outlined Izuku's care thoroughly, handing Katsuki sheets of paper and explaining them in detail. Pointing out particulars of Izuku's injuries and weak spots on the boy's body and explaining how each exercise was done and how it helped. Katsuki's focus was laser-sharp, and he asked questions attentively—turning over every detail until he was sure he'd be able to take care of the nerd flawlessly.
"I think I feel comfortable releasing you into UA's care, Midoriya. You're lucky to have friends like Bakugou, here," the doctor smiled. But then his face darkened slightly, and he cut his eyes to Katsuki. "Not many people would take such good care of their friends' families in situations like yours."
Katsuki remembered then, that this was the doctor that had banned the 'Dekusquad' from the hospital. Katsuki shook his head ever so slightly. This was not the forum for that conversation. The doctor pursed his lips, but moved on, even as Izuku eyed them both suspiciously. "I'd like to keep you one more night so that we do one more round of regen therapy before you leave. Bakugou, you can pick him up in the morning. He'll need a wheelchair any time he's walking more than fifteen feet—do not argue with me—it is non-negotiable."
Izuku grumbled but agreed because honestly, he was way more excited about getting to leave the hospital than he was bummed about his lack of mobility. "When did you agree to be my caretaker?" he asked once the doctor had left.
"Today, after class," Katsuki replied, turning back to the homework. "Went to Recovery Girl. Noticed you were getting antsy." He looked up when Izuku didn't say anything because a silent Deku was nearly unheard of (unless the asshole was in a fucking coma), and found Izuku staring at him with a look so soft and warm that it made him want to tuck tail and flee. "What?" he demanded, self conscious.
"Nothing! Just...thank you, Kacchan. You're amazing."
Katsuki squirmed. "You've been saying that since we were four. Careful or it'll lose meaning."
"You're also a complete dick," Izuku replied, a little wry.
"Watch it, or I'll push your wheelchair down the stairs, Freckles," Katsuki barked. "Let's finish this chapter, and then I'm gonna go baby-proof the dorm for you."
"I'm not a baby!"

Chapter 276 - Thoughts
Short summary of the chapter:
Tumblr media
My absolute favourite thing is that some days on a battlefield stacked with incredible powers, the MVP is the guy who refuses to blink and his human Visine teammate.
Tumblr media
I’ve always believed that Aizawa was one of the greatest out there, and it feels incredible to be vindicated.
My second most favourite thing is Deku and Bakugou sweeping in to save Aizawa, and remembering all the times he was their hero. And for Bakugou that’s the moment when Aizawa believed not in his strength or quirk, but the moral goodness of his character. Aizawa that day saved Katsuki’s soul a little bit. And I love how Bakugou (both of them?) yells “it’s our turn!” - because it doesn’t matter so much who All Might was pointing at in Kamino, but rather, who decides to put themselves in the narrative. Go, Gremlin!
Tumblr media
Otherwise, I can’t decide who is the bigger troll - Horikoshi or Shigaraki?
Horikoshi for giving us lots of Origin Trio family pics (poor them, they’ll soon watch live again, won’t they?) What the hell with that “Katsuki Memory” album - this is 100% a prank... Also, you give us all the Todorokis, except the Todoroki we all want to see? What the heck??
Tumblr media
Never hire All Might as a babysitter, as he watches a large-scale terrorist attack live with a 6-year old who has a flimsy grip on her highly dangerous quirk.
Tumblr media
Eri’s horn seems smaller now though which means either:
1. She’s trained and can safely control her power (meaning Aizawa can lose his quirk - yuck)
2. He may have used her stored-up power and we may get a surprise appearance from someone who can go through Shigaraki’s decay without being hurt - would be nice.
OK, so back to our battlefield. The heroes’ plan is solid - erase Shiggy’s quirks, catch him high up in the air and deal max damage. Endeavor’s sidekick Kido kind of sets the trajectory, and learning from Hood Endeavor combines Hell Spider with Prominence Burn, which looks really cool,
Tumblr media
and apparently hurts a little?
Tumblr media
OK, so we learn that even without quirks Shigaraki is near All Might level, which makes the whole taking him out a lot more complicated.
Also while everyone alive is fighting for their lives with everything they got, Shigaraki is trolling them, behaving like he’s in a pro-wrestling competition, shit-talking his opponents. It’s very very disrespectful, but also more than a little bit funny. He gives me serious Joker vibes here.
Tumblr media
Also, I’m a little bit mad Ryukyu got knocked out so quickly, I was really hoping she’d get some good action.
In the meantime, Gran Torino drops off Baku-Deku nearby and after cursory introductions (yeah, he already knows about Kacchan) helpfully explains the situation:
Tumblr media
He also doesn’t mince words about the worst case scenario - Deku losing OFA.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, the nomus are back, because it didn’t go already bad enough for the heroes, and apparently Shigaraki can choose not to decay them and has an app on his phone “activate nomus - kill everyone” - yep, the heroes should break his phone.
Also, they are only nearly high-end, which means that they are the perfect solo-material for our boys (and girls) to see their current strength level. It also means that Nomu Best Jeanist and Bakugou’s hero name is back in play!
So for all his bravado, Shigaraki did lose an arm to Endeavor’s attack, so he goes after Eraserhead, because it’s more fun with all the quirks. It’s really emotional how Aizawa decides to live for his students. Also, lol he remember Bakugou and Deku from the quirk assessment test!
Tumblr media
Thinking of his class as the pieces of a puzzle that fit together (and Shinsou is there!!!!)
Tumblr media
Wham! Deku races Gran Torino to tackle Shigaraki (I bet the old guy wishes that he could tie him on a leash), because worst case scenario? hiding? who? Not Deku - I guess he jumped to 45% speed here.
Tumblr media
I really hope Bakugou can produce smokeless explosions, because it would be a pity if Aizawa lost Shiggy from his line of sight.
So let’s see - chapter end:
Shigaraki is being tackled by Deku, Bakugou and Gran Torino. Endeavor and Ryukyu shouldn’t be too far behind, and they also have Rocklock there and Native. Aizawa hasn’t blinked in a long time, and if he does now, he’s set to lose some students.
Two nearly high-ends are heading to Aizawa’s location.
The heroes heading to the scene are being held up by the rest of the nearly highends.
The Dekusquad is either back evacuating or followed the heroes heading towards Shigaraki.
We don’t know what’s going on in the mansion side or when Machia may show up (i think he’s being held up by the Lurkers and the mansion team students)
Other chapters
BONUS:
I’ve been dying to know Burnin’s quirk. Looks like a big fire whip. (Fits her personality).

ShiKatsu AU
*Because I am god awful at naming things!!!
-So basically, this is an AU where, for whatever reason, Katsuki Bakugou does not pass the Yuuei Entrance Exam.
-There are a few potential reasons for this, and I’m not quite sure which I like the most, but the causes I’ve come up with are as such:
There was an open answer question about Quirklessness and/or weak Quirks that Katsuki showed his true opinion on. This answer either: a. Caused the Yuuei staff to realize ‘this kid isn’t thinking very heroically/clearly isn’t the ‘perfect student’ his file makes him out to be’ and rejecting him at the first realization that he’s a bully or b. Lost him just enough points for Katsuki to fail the written portion.
The other powerhouses we know and love are there. (Perhaps including Inasa, who might have come to the normal exam to give Yuuei a second chance at wowing him? If Katsuki is there, his temper might be the reason Inasa decides to go to Shiketsu in the end despite passing twice.) Either way, these super strong opponents snatch so many robots, Katsuki can’t get his hands on enough of them. (He either misses the cut-off by a few points, or is stuck with all of the speed demons and never gets more than, like, ten. Either way, it pisses him off.)
A very unlikely option, but...Shinsou feels spiteful as he realizes just how biased the Entrance Exam is, sees Katsuki and his strong Quirk, and just...brainwashes Katsuki right as the Exam starts, leaving the boy standing there, out of the way and just...not gaining points.
Someone accidentally knocks him out with their attacks at the very beginning. Might be Kaminari, we don’t know.
-Whatever it is, Katsuki doesn’t get into Yuuei. And there’s no way someone as great as him will be stuck in the lowly Gen. Ed., so he applies to other schools….albeit really angrily.
-Here, we have two options. Either we put Katsuki in Ketsubutsu, or he goes to Shiketsu High. Guess which one I went with in the end?
-Surprise, surprise, it’s Shiketsu!!
-Shiketsu has some really strong students, like Inasa (who, in the end, decided he wasn’t up for dealing with Yuuei, and wants to prove that there can be strong heroes from other high schools) (and really, really hates the Todoroki family)
-but! Shiketsu also has hero students with not-so-powerful Quirks. Like Camie, whose illusions can’t deal damage, or Seiji and his Meatball Quirk!
-And this is important, because as time goes on, Katsuki starts to realize that strong Quirks aren’t necessarily everything. It’s not always about the Quirk that you have, but what you can do with it.
-Because holy shit, a girl with illusions is also a girl who can kick his ass, and Katsuki doesn’t think his ass is one easily kicked.
-So Katsuki, over the course of his first semester, slowly learns that hey, he’s a bit of a grade-a asshole, and wow he was shit to Deku. And the best part is??? He learns this lesson without having to get into twenty million fights with Izuku.
-We also get to see Katsuki and Camie interacting more, and more Inasa and Katsuki time. I think it’s a win any way we put it.
-Bonus: Katsuki tries making Inasa his rival. Camie overthrows this plan and becomes his rival instead, and manages to teach Katsuki about respect and not being an asshole, and a lot of outdated lingo.
-Meanwhile, Izuku gets to Yuuei.
-Everyone is so confused at Aldera. Katsuki because he failed, so how did Deku pass? His teachers because Deku is Quirkless. Izuku because ‘how did I get in and not Kacchan?’
-Everyone is so fucking lost.
-But fuck that, let’s hop straight into the good stuff.
-Without Katsuki around??? Izuku flourishes, man.
-Like fuck Dekusquad and Bakusquad, we only have Dekusquad and it’s the entire goddamn class, thank you very much.
-Izuku gets all of the love and support he needs, and then some. While he doesn’t make quite as much of a statement during his Heroes v. Villain fight, he’s still impressive and kind and everyone just ends up flocking to him.
-Izuku actually ends up admitting that he’s a ‘late bloomer’ to the class very early, like after USJ but before the Sports Festival early, because he has people like Kirishima supporting him and giving him the confidence he needs to admit it to both his class and his homeroom teacher.
-Is this an excuse to get some good old dadzawa in here? Oh of course, but also Izuku deserves to not break his hand irreparably so...here we go!
-The Sports Festival goes a bit differently, of course, but I’m not going to get into that now because I don’t have it plotted out perfectly, plus I’d need to decide how much change Izuku can make in two weeks.
-Full Cowl would be developed by then, simply because Aizawa would take one look at Izuku during an extra, one-on-one lesson, and go, “What happens if you spread your power throughout your entire body?”
-Izuku just goes: Huh, don’t know….let’s find out!
-And just like that, Full Cowling has arrived.
-So, Sports Festival. Neat. Stuff happens, months pass.
-Izuku gets to be more confident and happy.
-The boys don’t meet again until the Provisional License Exam.
-By now, Katsuki has realized he isn’t God’s goddamn blessing to the world, and Izuku has blossomed into a strong, confident boy with friends (and a lot of new father figures, because I think a more confident Izuku would snatch his teachers as dads without much hesitation)
-Katsuki never watched the Sports Festival, because he was still pissed off when that happened and he just...never wanted to see how it went.
-So when the exams start, and Katsuki sees Izuku? Well, it goes a little like this:
Katsuki: Is that Deku? Fuck, I gotta apologize to the Quirkless nerd. (Or Camie might just beat the shit out of him, again.)
Izuku: nearly gets Katsuki to fail during the first stage, green lightning and all.
Katsuki:
Katsuki: F u c k.
-Katsuki still fails the Provisional License Exam, because wow he’s a little less abrasive but he still doesn’t know how to be gentle with kids and hurt people, telling them to get up and walk it off. Afterwards, he’s just reeling because Deku has a Quirk???
-They don’t talk. But they see each other, and they see the differences. And that does things to both of them.
Izuku feels more confident, proud that he could pass where Kacchan failed.
Katsuki, meanwhile, is wondering why Deku hid his power.
-He ends up hearing the late bloomer story somewhere, I don’t know how yet, and just...accepts it.
He does a little research, makes sure late bloomers are actually a thing, and after finally watching the Sports Festival, shrugs and moves on a bit.
-He basically goes ‘okay, I can see why he never got it before. I mean, if it’s so strong he’s breaking his bones, what the fuck would have happened if he got his Quirk earlier?’
-He feels a bit guiltier, realizing that the thing he judged Deku for wasn’t actually a valid excuse at all...even though bullying Deku for his Quirklessness also wasn’t a valid reason.
-And yeah. It’s a nice little story where two boys get to grow into themselves without constantly interacting with one another. It’s got crack, fluff, and character growth all in one! I hope you like it, and if you have questions, leave a comment or a message in my inbox. (More will be on its way soon.)

jealousy // bakugou katsuki x fem!reader
Imagine y/n, a student of the class 1-A, being Bakugou's girlfriend and Izuku's cousin. Our dear Bakugou doesn't know this and gets veeeery jealous to watch her being so close to Deku until he discovers that they cousins. I think that that would be very funny for their friends and so embarrasing for our explosive hero...
Thank you to @xeltwilight34! I hope you like it!
You couldn't help but notice Bakugou's hostile behavior. Well, more hostile than usual. It was mostly towards Deku, but it was sometimes directed towards you as well. You didn't really think much of it, used to his behavior. You always knew he was a huge softie behind closed doors.
Not until a certain day.
Of course, everyone knew you and Deku knew each other, but no one really knew your true relationship. You had gone home, like everyone else, to spend time with your family for the Winter holidays and when you came back from U.A., you noticed something on your bed in your dorm: a present from Izuku.
You opened it up and let out a delighted squeal, excited that your favorite cousin remembered exactly what you had been rambling on about for months on end.
"Izuku!" you screeched, bolting out of your room and to the common area. Several of your classmates watched in shock as you nearly tackled the freckled boy into a hug, nuzzling your cheek against his. "You're the best! Thank you so much!" Deku laughed in response, used to you and your behavior, so he wasn't at all flustered by your actions.
And guess who saw the whole thing?
"Oi! Get the hell away from him, (Y/N)!" Bakugou growled and all eyes turned to him. You turned to look at your boyfriend, your eyes lighting up in excitement.
"Katsuki! I missed you!" You let go of Deku and rushed over to Katsuki who instantly pulled you close to him.
"Why the hell didn't you call me then?" he asked and you huffed.
"My family has this rule of no cell phones so we actually communicate," you replied and pouted. Bakugou didn't exactly get it, but he didn't answer, knowing if that wasn't the truth you must've had a good reason for it.
Ever since then, it was becoming a lot easier to get him riled up.
He once got so mad he picked you up and tossed you over his shoulder, leading you away from the Dekusquad.
You were currently standing in the hallway, talking to Uraraka, Deku, and Iida.
"Are you sure everything's okay with you and Bakugou?" Uraraka asked, concerned. You thought back to the night before when Bakugou had ignored your texts and shrugged.
"If we weren't, I don't think he'd really hesitate to tell me," you said and ran your fingers through your hair.
"Well, Kacchan has been a bit more aggressive lately," Deku spoke up and, as if to prove his point, you felt someone grab into your wrist rather roughly.
"What about it?" your boyfriend snarled and you frowned, having always hated how he acted towards your cousin.
"Can you stop that?" you asked and they all turned to look at you.
"Stop what?" Bakugou replied, glaring at you as you yanked your arm out of his grip.
"Stop treating Izuku like shit!" You matched his glare with one of your own, not caring if he was mad at you. Everyone else in the class quieted down once they heard you yell, listening in on the conversation.
"Oh, so now you're on his side?!"
"What is with you?!"
"Me? Me?! What about you, (Y/N)? Damnit, you've been blowing me off for shitty Deku recently. Is he your boyfriend or me?!"
"You dumbass! Why would I date him, he's my cousin!" Once thos words left your lips, Bakugou froze, as did everyone else in the class except for Uraraka and Iida.
"Your cousin?" Bakugou repeated and you furrowed your eyebrows.
"What? I didn't tell you?" you asked and his eyes narrowed into a glare as his face took on a pink tint.
"No, you didn't! What the hell, I thought you were cheating on me!'
"Why would I cheat on you?"
"Okay, let's get one thing straight. You're cousins with Deku?" Kaminari spoke up and both you and Deku nodded.
"How come none of us knew this?" Kirishima asked.
"Well, Uraraka and Iida knew," Deku muttered.
"I just kinda figured you would know," you said and Bakugou flicked your forehead, making you pout.
"Don't do that shit," he said and you saw the relief in his eyes, a smile growing on your face.
"I won't, promise," you hugged the ash blonde, knowing he was probably glaring at anyone who stared at the two of you for too long.

A Happy Future
Happy birthday to our favorite broccoli boi! Take this fic with you on your quest :)
__________
"Momm!" Izuku groaned, his face red from embarrassment as his friends huddled around Inko in the dorm living room. "Stop showing them those pictures! It's embarrassing!"
He was ignored though, as his mother pointed out another baby picture from the photo album she brought along. "And this was the time Izuku made his first drawing! It was such a mess and it took a long time to clean up," Inko said with a soft smile.
The picture had a young Izuku, maybe four or three, surrounded by colour pencils with his tongue stuck out as he drew something with the utmost concentration a child could muster. There were other loose papers scattered about, some crumpled and others torn.
"Aww! Baby Izuku is soooo cute!!" Uraraka exclaimed, gushing about the small Izuku with the other girls.
"You haven't even seen the bathing pictures yet! Now those are the definition of cute," Inko added with a teasing tone.
"Mom no!" Izuku shouted, his face red with shame. "I'm going to train!" He yelled as he speed-walked away from them and towards the elevator.
"By the way dud-," Kirishima appeared next to Izuku, receiving a screech of surprise from the green-haired boy.
"Ow ow ow! My poor eardrums," Kirishima muttered, covering his ears. "Guess I deserve it though, for scaring you."
"Ah! I'm sorry, Kirishima! Y-yeah, I guess you did surprise me but sorry for hurting your ears!"
"Don't sweat it dude!" Kirishima gave a thumbs up and grinned. Izuku smiled awkwardly. They both entered the elevator and Izuku pressed a button.
"Anyways, you were going to ask me something?"
"Oh yeah! I was going to ask why your mom's here. It just seems a bit odd."
Izuku shrugged, pursing his lips. "I'm not sure either. She got permission from Aizawa-sensei though. It might be something important like a meeting?"
Kirishima nodded. The elevator chimed as they reached the ground floor. "Oh, I see. Though, I gotta ask, I wonder how a meeting means bringing a photo album of your baby pictures to show off to your friends?" Kirishima smirked.
Izuku sighed. "Don't remind me, please." Kirishima laughed. Izuku playfully glared at the red-haired boy. "You're just enjoying my suffering, aren't you?"
"Well I mean, should I not?" Kirishima put his arm around Izuku's shoulder as they headed toward one of the UA training facilities. Izuku fake-scowled and Kirishima laughed loudly. The two boys continued to laugh and joke around as they entered the facility.
A distant FUCKING DIE could be heard followed by a series of explosions and a high-pitched scream and zapping sounds.
"Looks like Kaminari and Kacchan are at it," Izuku muttered. Kirishima nodded, wincing slightly when seeing Kaminari's clothes burnt in some areas.
"Midoriya-kun! Kirishima-kun! How nice of you two to join us!" Iida's voice grew louder as he zoomed closer with his quirk before coming to a halt right in front of them.
"Yo, Iida! Speeding around as usual, I see," Kirishima greeted. Izuku simply gave a hello.
"But of course, Kirishima-kun! I must keep in shape in order to use my quirk to the best of my abilities!" Iida said while hand-chopping the air.
As Kirishima and Iida conversed, Izuku headed towards the changing rooms to put on some sportswear. After that, he immediately began stretching and doing some laps. He was soon joined by Iida and Kirishima (and it somehow became a race, Izuku's not sure how. Iida won though).
He practiced his quirk for a while and sparred with a Class B student who was also there. He spent roughly two hours training with breaks in between.
Back in the changing room, he wiped the sweat off his face, making small talk with Iida.
"By the way, Midoriya-kun," Iida started, as he drank orange juice from the juice box. "I'm heading to the mall afterwards to buy some new shoes and tailored pants. Uraraka-san and Todoroki-kun already agreed to come with. Would you like to join?"
Izuku paused for a second. Well, he had nothing else to do for the rest of the day, so maybe it'll be alright? Though he can't help but feel as though he forgot something. It's probably nothing, though.
"Sure, Iida. Plus it's a good way to kill time, and I could probably also buy some new shirts as well, a lot of people had been saying I need more variety of clothes, and I don't want to bother mom since she's with the others, and maybe I could buy lunch there? But I have to be careful not to break my diet and-" Izuku's voice grew softer as he began mumbling.
"That's great then!" Iida interrupted, far too used to this happening. "We shall leave in the next twenty minutes or so! Make sure to be on time!" And with that, Iida left.
*****
"Are you sure, Midoriya?"
"Yes, I'm sure Todoroki! I would know if All Might was my dad!"
Todoroki gave him a blank, yet a determined look. "You do know I can make a list of every reason why you two are father and son AND as to why you didn't know."
Izuku groaned and laughed. "What's with you and conspiracy theories, Todoroki?"
"It's not a conspiracy theory if it's the truth, now is it?"
The two continued to bicker as they waited for their meals to arrive.
The Dekusquad ("Uraraka we are not calling this the Dekusquad-" "We are and you can't change my mind!") had arrived at the large mall. Even though Iida took charge, there were a few setbacks.
From distractions of silly action figures and merchandise ("they're not silly they're genuine All Might products, Iida! Plus, they're 20% off today!" "Midoriya-kun, PLEASE.") to minor fire hazards ("Todoroki, you can't burn a building just 'cause they're selling Endeavor merchandise!" "I beg to differ, Uraraka.") It was certainly a hectic time.
Iida and Uraraka said they had to buy a few more things by themselves. Iida quickly assigned the remaining two to order food for them for the time being. Which leads to now. While waiting for the ordered meals, Todoroki decided to share his lovely theories of his classmates.
"I'm just saying, Midoriya, Aizawa-sensei seems awfully interested in training Shinsou. Not to mention the similar sleeping patterns. Coincidence? I don't think so."
"Oh my god, Todoroki," Izuku huffed, smiling slightly. "Now you're dragging our teacher into this. What's next? Uraraka is an alien from outer-space trying to blend in as a human?"
"It's completely possible and we both know it."
Izuku laughed. "Why do you… sound so serious… saying.. that?!" Izuku wheezed through breaths. Todoroki shrugged.
"We're baccck~!" Uraraka called in a singsong voice. She skipped towards the two with Iida following right after. Uraraka slid into the seat next to Izuku, and Iida by Todoroki. She had a different plain bag with her (as did Iida) filled with something. Izuku tried to peek in the bag.
Gift wrapping?? What was Uraraka going to use that for? Perhaps she has a relative whose birthday is coming up.
The feeling of forgetfulness returned, but Izuku still wasn't sure what he had forgotten.
However, he cast that aside as he was served a bowl of hot and delicious katsudon. Todoroki slurped his cold soba with a passion, and Iida had beef stew (Uraraka also settled for this as well).
The four conversed as they ate, with Iida's input every now and then of No speaking while chewing!
Izuku checked the time on his phone. The four had finished and paid for their meals and were now wandering the mall for the time being.
"Ah, it's 5:30pm. Maybe we should head back?" Izuku suggested. A flash of panic seem to pass through the other three. How odd.
"Y-yeah Deku! But there's one more thing I want us to do before we go back to the dorms!" Uraraka stuttered.
"O… okay?" Izuku responded, a bit confused.
"B-but let's pass by UA first! So we can drop off our stuff! I'll text Tsuyu-chan to meet us there!" Uraraka added, pulling out her phone. She seemed to send a quick message.
"I still don't understand but… okay?"
"Great! Let's go!"
*****
"-and they were roommates!" Uraraka said dramatically.
"Oh my god, they were roommates!" Iida gasped.
Laughter passed through the group as they all walked side by side to UA's entrance. Tsuyu and Sero waved to them.
"Yo dudes! Had fun at the mall?" Sero asked as they got closer.
Izuku nodded, smiling from ear to ear. "It really was! I kinda wished we have more days like these." Sero's smile widened a bit.
The Dekusquad then gave all their bags to Sero and Tsuyu. They chatted a bit with the two before the tapeman and frog-humanoid went back to the dorms.
"So," Todoroki drawled, "where are we heading next, Uraraka?"
Uraraka gave Todoroki a slight look of betrayal. "U-um, well you see…" Uraraka smiled awkwardly and fidgeted. "I was hoping we could, uh, visit t-the, um, the beach??"
Izuku raised an eyebrow at her.
"I was hoping we could s-see the sunset! Yeah!" She said nervously.
Iida snorted and covered it up with a cough. Uraraka glared at him. Todoroki simply observed.
"Sounds cool to me," Todoroki finally added. Iida nodded with approval and Izuku grinned and gave a thumbs up.
Uraraka beamed. "Then let's hurry before it starts to get dark!"
She marched on ahead and the others followed.
"I know a really good beach! It used to be a dump but someone cleaned it up! It's really beautiful!"
Izuku swelled up with pride. Had he not been in front of his friends, he would've cried, knowing people appreciated what he did.
Iida hummed. "Are you speaking of Dagobah Municipal Beach? It is indeed beautiful. I've seen it when passing by."
"I haven't seen it," Todoroki spoke up. "I didn't really used to go out a lot so I guess I wouldn't know."
"Well, I've been there many times, since my home was close by," Izuku joined. "I still go there. It's relaxing."
The four continue to chat as they approached the beach. Just in time too.
The water glistened, reflecting the rays of the sun. The sky seemed to burst in an array of colours of orange and pink and blue and red, extending past the horizon. The illusion of the sun moving downwards into the sea that was ready to swallow it whole was like a beautiful display of artwork. The sky then flickered into darkness.
"Woah.." Todoroki muttered, gaping. Uraraka grinned widely.
Izuku smiled slightly. "It's one of those things you won't really see anywhere else."
"Very impressive, indeed," Iida said, adjusting his glasses.
The four stood in silence as the last remaining colours drained from the sky. They spoke softly with each other as they returned back to UA. Iida sent a text on the group chat that they were returning.
As they approached the dorms, Todoroki sighed. "I really can't believe you forgot, Midoriya."
Izuku blanched. "So I was forgetting something..?"
Todoroki nodded and Uraraka huffed.
So now Izuku was worried. Was it something important? But then why did they wait to the end of the day? Maybe they were expecting him to remember but he didn't for a whole day. Oh god, were they angry at him? Maybe he should apologize? But then that might make it worse and they might get angrier and it could all go so wrong-
"SURPRISE!!"
Izuku shrieked. Had he walked in without realizing?
The room was colourfully decorated with streamers and balloons. Izuku looked around questionly. The feeling of forgetfulness returned.
His mother walked up to him with a watery smile. "Happy Birthday, Izuku."
And then it clicked.
"How did I manage to forget my own BIRTHDAY??!!!"
Iida shrugged, shifting his glasses. "While it certainly helpful for us to plan this party, it was a bit hilarious seeing you trying to piece things together sometimes."
Izuku sighed. "Still, how does one forget their own birthday! The signs were there!"
"Plot convenience?" Kaminari suggested, to which Sero hushed him, as if it was a big secret.
Ashido joined in. "Well, that was then! This is NOW! And I believe it's time to PAR-TAY!!" She whooped.
"Until 10 minutes before curfew hours of course, so we can clean up," Iida added. It was questionable to say whether the rest heard, as they had joined Ashido in whooping.
Izuku was dragged about the dorms but has the time of his life. From playing board games ("I am never playing Monopoly ever again.") To the classic truth or dare ( Izuku was having a major conflict. He was dared to kiss the cutest person in the room but he couldn't decide because everyone was cute!) There never seemed to be a dull moment.
Izuku sat on the ground, watching with amusement as his friends played the hell-spawned game: Twister.
"Left foot, blue," he said, a chuckle following as he watched Mineta completely and utterly struggle, while yelling I'M AT A DISADVANTAGE HERE (the small boy is surprisingly competitive) and Jirou yelling back to SUCK IT UP, LOSER. (In the end, no one won as they all topple over each other).
"Izuku!" His mother called. He turned around to see Katsuki holding a chocolate cake (begrudgingly) and setting it down on a table. Inko lit the candles.
"Happy Birthday, nerd," Katsuki said, glaring at the boy (he was getting a lot of mixed signals. Was Kacchan being nice, or planning his execution for being dragged into doing this?).
"Kacchan," Izuku's eyes widened.
Katsuki tched and stomped away. This was somehow good enough for Izuku, as he smiled at the leaving boy.
Inko beckoned her son to sit at the table in front of the cake. Izuku stood up and went over to his mother.
"Look at you, you're all grown up now," Inko sniffed and smiled, wiping a tear from her eye. "Soon you'll be saving so many people, just like you always wanted. I'm so happy for you, Izuku!" Inko held his hand. "Just know that I'll always support you, no matter what! But I better not get anymore calls that you're breaking bones again!"
Izuku smiled, chuckling. "You don't have to worry mom. I'll make sure I don't break anything as much as possible."
Inko smiled. "I'll take your word for it. Now sit! You need to blow out the candles!" Inko ushered Izuku to sit.
His classmates surrounded him and began singing Happy Birthday to him, though at various pitches, so the song sounded like a mess.
"Make your wish!"
"Hurry hurry! I want a slice of cake already!"
"Stop rushing him Jammingway. I'm still surprised you haven't accidentally fried your brain when we played Scrabble!"
"Hey! I'm not that bad! I don't work good under pressure!"
Like little kids, they ushered the birthday boy to make his wish. Izuku thought for a moment on what he wanted to wish for.
He never really had these kind of birthday parties growing up. The last time he had one with other people was when he was four. After that, people rejected his invites and he would just spend the day hanging out with his mom.
But now, he has friends (that alone is almost enough to bring him to tears), classmates who actually want to get to know about him and hang out with him.
Izuku closed his eyes and blew out the candles.
His friends cheered and joked around and the cake was cut.
"What did you wish for, kero?" Tsuyu asked Izuku, holding her slice of cake.
Izuku grinned, "Well, that's a secret!"
Everyone munched on their cake and had an enjoyable time. There were nice, long conversations, embarrassing stories ("MOM!" "Oh Izuku, I just couldn't resist."), and other simple yet fun games.
Even so, everything must come to an end. Inko soon left and the students had to clean up and get ready to go to bed by curfew.
Izuku looked at his friends, who chatted quietly yet actively. The happy smiles on their faces made him feel warm inside. He thought back to what he wished for.
I wish for more happy moments like these. Hanging out with my friends, sparring together and becoming heroes together. Yeah, I wish for a happy future with everyone.
Izuku smiled. This will do just fine.
