PhD work is kicking my ass™️ at the moment but here’s something I’ve been slowly piecing together since I fell into the 911 WeeWoo show because I love Pushing Daisies AU’s/Canon divergence fics - Hope everyone likes baking pies and waking the dead… 🥧🌼💀

Buck bakes and the Diaz boys can’t seem to get enough. He enters the house on South Bedford street, arms ladened with enough baked goods to feed a firehouse. There’s still flour on his blue shirt, dusting his curls, up his nose most likely, but he just hadn’t been able to stop. The pies had just kept coming.

Raspberry, strawberry, cranberry - all blood red, and juicy from his touch back to life - fill each pie. He watches eagerly as Eddie takes yet another slice, and Chris digs into his own. There’s pride, like a pre-warmed oven, in the center of his chest, radiating along each rib, wrapping him in a feeling he never wants to end.

So he sits, and pushes his own meager slice of browned crust and softened berries round his plate inconspicuously, and lets himself bask in knowledge that he made Eddie and Chris this happy.

Sure he can’t eat the fruit of his own labor - pun intended - but getting to watch as both of his Diaz’s begin slumping bonelessly against each other on the sofa, bellies full, and start to doze under the warm glow of the room, well that’s worth more than the world to him.
