for all that this show spends hours upon hours on its “just say no to drugs” pedestal it certainly does not spend a commensurate amount of time examining why, specifically it might be bad that people in hell are doing drugs. the show is up front abt the fact that angel uses as a way to dissociate from a position that is as untenable as it is inescapable (and let’s not even get into the fixation with calling him a ‘crack whore’, an insanely racially loaded term, when he’s only ever shown doing lines in clubs), but we are never given any reason he shouldn’t do that except that it counts as “a sin”

angel’s already dead, he’s in hell, and it’s his only relief from a situation the show has no trouble lingering on over and over again. but we’re supposed to accept that in the context of this world addiction is bad because we know it to be bad, because it’s a sin, because charlie (who is under no such burden herself) doesn’t want him to do it

I’m in a weird place where I moved a lot of my personal ‘blogging’ to Twitter and did it on the same acct as my art (unlike here)’ but now im like. Semi opposed to posting any more of my art on twt(im not going to bother purging stuff, but still..) but also I was doing most of my Interacting with people stuff over there too.

It’s nice that after a decade they finally decided to let me reply as my side blog when talking to ppl on the art blog tho. So that makes it easier

my life has gotten really hectic! in a month-ish i’m getting married, which is very exciting but very stressful and time-consuming.

this means one of two things for here:

i disappear for a while on the art front because i’m just too busy

OR

i stay active because this blog has, in some ways, become a source of stress relief during a really insane time in my life

guess we’ll see

which brings me to the next point: burnout is peering at me from around the corner and i’m hoping she goes the fuck away. it’s been a long time since i’ve truly loved drawing and writing, i finally feel like myself again after so many years. i really hope that the fast-paced and pressured feeling from modern-day fandom does not kill my love for IZ, because that would honestly be crushing.

if you are nice to me, i’m going to be nice to you. i am not a bully, and i don’t condone bullying of others based on their preferred ships. i am just here to have fun, which i’m pretty sure is the case for most of us.

fandom does not have to be so fucking black and white. if we’re friends and you find out that i am not a fan of your favorite ship, we are still friends as long as that’s something you’re okay with. it really is that simple.

they’re calling it block party 2024. just blocking and ignoring countless celebrities who havent said shit about palestine. influencers, actors, anyone who went to the met gala, whatever, they’re getting blocked. and people keep talking about how cathartic it is, how good it feels, how they never realized they could DO that. there was some kind of subconscious law against blocking famous people, but it’s broken, and people are LOVING it. and it’s WORKING. a social media/digital advertising coordinator was talking about how ad companies are PANICKING, because they can’t accurately target anymore. so many big influencers, including fucking LIZZO started talking about palestine the MOMENT their follower counts started going down. and the best part? no one is forgiving them. lizzo posted a tiktok asking people to donate to palestinian families, and all the comments just said you’re a multimillionaire. put your money where your mouth is. blocked.

i feel like i’m witnessing the downfall of celebrity culture, right here right now. people are waking up.
