Okay so. What's a thing that would make Johnshi go all "hearteyes/weak on the knees/full on gaga brain got short-circuited send help" (even possibly "take me now" if you want to spice things up) about each other?

Hearteyes—when Kenshi puts his hand on Johnny's lower back. He could be doing it without a thought, just passing Johnny or trying to get around him, but it always makes Johnny's heart flutter bc it's such a casual intimacy, you know?

Brain short circuiting—when Kenshi flirts with him! Johnny is the one who's always smooth talking, complimenting and making moves on him left and right, but when Kenshi flirts back? Johnny just stops working, error 404 style. And Kenshi is smug with it too, loves to say his genuine affection out loud while backing Johnny to a wall just to kiss him because there's always a pleasure in rendering the infamous Johnny Cage truly speechless and flustered.

Take me now—Johnny loves watching Kenshi fight because by the elder gods, he is so skilled with his katana. The stance, the footwork, the grip change, Kenshi using his telekinesis to control the sword in air and incorporating Sento's power into the fight? Phewwww, the room is suddenly getting so warm all over or is it just Johnny?

What would be the most stupid argument Kenshi and Johnny would have? Either stupid-funny (pineapple on pizza or not style) or stupid-serious (genuinely serious but can't believe it got so out of hand).

Omg this is a brilliant ask!

Johnny and Kenshi would bicker about every subject that's possible on the earth. Even after they get together, they carry on the tradition of getting arise out of each other. The only thing that's different is that their words have no malice and only good-natured competitiveness.

One of their stupid-funny arguements i could think of from top of my head would be about the prospect of gossiping. Johnny always spills teas about his coworkers to Kenshi and Kenshi berates him for it, he shouldn't be this invested in his subordinates' personal lives and air their dirty laundries let alone to strangers (Kenshi). Johnny argues that he's a hypocrite bc as if Kenshi wasn't hanging onto Johnny's every word when he told the swordsman about the very spicy beef between his cameraman and his sounder mixer. Kenshi obviously denies it, so Johnny ends the argument by saying, "Fine, then i won't tell you who's the baby daddy of Jessica's child."

Kenshi grinds his jaw and storms out of the room. Ten seconds pass, and here comes Kenshi stroming back in, muttering under his breath like a maniac, "who is it?"

For stupid-serious argument, it's gonna be about Kenshi not comming during a mission. He barged into danger without notifying Johnny and got injured. Johnny feels like Kenshi can't trust him to have his back and making him feel useless because Johnny's all about proving himself capable and doesn't want the man to get hurt while Kenshi did it because he always burders himself with others' responsibilities and didn't want to put Johnny into very dangerous situation. This type of argument escalates very fast, they're shouting over each other till one of them screams, "BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!" then both fall silent. Of course, they make up with lots of kisses and hugs because even though their most sensitive chords are struck, in the end they're just trying to take care of each other in their own way.

Watching @tokillaking13 last piece of Johnny and all I could think about was one of those calendars where people pose mostly naked (idk firefighters style??) but with Johnny 🫠. Maybe he did it at the beginning of his career or maybe it's recent. Maybe he gives one to Kenshi or maybe Kenshi buys it secretly (and gets busted rather quickly by someone).

I have an idea! In an AU where Kenshi still has his eyes, Johnny and him are yet to be in an established relationship, Kenshi was just browsing through the newslet section of a conbini then out of nowhere, he stumbles upon a magazine with Johnny half naked on the cover! (I imagine @tokillaking13's Johnny mag art as the cover)

For full five minutes, Kenshi just stands frozen in front of it while his brain is doing mental gymnastics of weighing pros and cons, and ethical practices of owning pictures of his very much half-naked best friend. In the end, he caves and buys the magazine.

Later on CageCon, Johnny announces his limited-time-purchase calendar full of half naked photoshoots in his most iconic roles. And of course, Kenshi needs it.

So, in his endeavor, Kenshi even creates a (secret) twitter just to be updated about the calendar's pre-order and release. When it becomes available to purchase, Kenshi gets on his computer and tries to order it online. However, Johnny's fans are beyond crazy. The limited number of calendars is immediately sold out within about 3 minutes, and Kenshi is left defeated in the arms race against the fans. No calendar for him.

Exasperated and at the end of his rope, Kenshi's next move is getting it from the exact source.

Next time he meets with Johnny, he subtly brings up the calendar, hoping Johnny will just offer one to him on his own like "i will send you my calendar, kenny," or something in the intrusive way Johnny usually does, so Kenshi can just act like he's reluctant to indulge the actor.

But no, Johnny does not do any of that.

In the end, Kenshi, blushing furiously and sweating little, he finally says, "I ... would ... like to ... have one."

Johnny gawks, of course he's shocked that Kenshi would want half-naked pictures of him in the first place. But the way Kenshi is so embarrassed and shy about it, Johnny decides not to tease him.

Next day, Kenshi receives the calendar on his doorstep, with a sighed autograph and a winky face doodled on it. "Enjoy it well"

You've got drawing ideas cage fighting (fking love this new AU 😍🤩) and I'm sick and drowning in sick!Johnshi ideas so let me kick them out of my brain please.

So I get the feeling that both Kenshi and Johnny are horrible when they are sick bc they simply. Won't. Let themselves. Get taken care off. The bases are surprisingly similar and yet different.

Kenshi grew up with the idea that showing any sort of weakness is a no-no if you want to survive his (previous) world. So he will do whatever it takes to power through whatever nasty virus has taken over his body. Then this gets aggravated when he is freeing the Taira bc now it has become a "I can't rest yet" type of problem (cue to him collapsing more than once in the past). And there is also a bit of him not believing that he deserves the gentleness and love that is someone taking care of himself.

Johnny hides behind a shiny and loud wall of "THE Johnny Cage cannot get sick. I'm too good for that". But all this façade hides is his fear of his public persona cracking and him falling behind. He *needs* to get this shoot done, this premiere attended, this interview published bc otherwise people will forget him (feeling that was appeared when he started making a career of himself and then got worse pre MK1 events). There is also the fear of being considered a burden (something that his shitty father drilled into his brain and that sadly his mother couldn't fight since she was always so busy trying to raise her 2 sons and drag her useless husband).

And for the both of them there might also be something about not wanting others to pity them?

At the beginning of their relationship this whole thing becomes a bit of a friction point but after a couple of times they realize that letting themselves to be taken care of when sick is not shameful, doesn't make them weak or a burden and that they actually deserve that care and gentleness.

I'm sorry for taking so long to answer your submission bc i have been mulling about what more i can add.

You're SO RIGHT about everything.

Kenshi is a very duty bound person. The Kenshi who's seeking redemption serves people, his family and loved ones, and everything comes before his own needs and wants. Of course, he doesn't let himself rest when he's sick bc it is just trivial thing, a distraction. The way Kenshi just gives up when he loses his sight tells a lot about how he sees his worth bc if he can't fight to save his clan, then he's nothing. Furthermore, he feels that he's underserving of good things bc guilt™️ of his yakuza past.

On the other hand, Johnny is all about proving himself capable. In the entertainment industry, you must be always on you top shape, gotta give 110% all the time, or people will replace you with a blink of an eye. He doesn't do well when people point out his shortcomings, so he mask them and it is probably where his arrogant attitude roots from bc fake it till you make it right?

Johnny and Kenshi are both hypocrites because they want to take care of each other while not doing the same for themselves. Loving someone's uglies is easy when you truly love the person but letting yourself be loved? Being weak and vulnerable with the other? It is hard to unlearn all the ways that helped them survive the world but what's love if you if you can't be your true self.

In chapter four of MK1, right after Kenshi gets blinded, both him and Baraka have been awake for hours before Johnny wakes up or Syzoth shows up.

I can’t help but imagine what Kenshi’s initial reaction was to his eyes being gone when he first woke up that we didn’t get to see?

Personally, if I woke up with no eyes and couldn’t see anything, I’d be having the most intense panic attack the world has ever seen.

Okay so when they first meet baraka, it's night. When they find Shang Tsung's lab, sun is up in the horizon that i think is either sunrise or sunset (but Baraka says the lab was close by to tarakan colony, so it's likely morning). When they escape the lab, it's midday.

So if the group entered the lab in the morning, they spent at least 4-6 hours in the dungeon. Man, imagine the pain. Those gaping holes in flesh will sting like crazy in the exposure to air, the least.

After his blinding, we see Kenshi utterly given up on life and that wasn't just a sprout out dramatics of the moment. Kenshi was thinking of his failure for hours and hours, mulling in his agony.

Since we don't have canon scarring of Kenshi's wounds (we do see gaping holes in the scene of dungeon but let me explain as i go), we have many variations of his wounds. My hc is that Mileena's sais cut into Kenshi's eyelid and the sharpened edges grinded against his socket bones that it stopped the blades from sinking further into the brain. So in my head, Kenshi has vertical line scars instead of starbrust ones. But mainly why i insist on Kenshi still having functional eyelids is to add more angst.

Imagine: in the absence of eyeballs, the sensation of blinking transforms into a phantom reflex—a vestige of a once-familiar motion. It's just a ghostly echo now, a muscle memory seeking fulfillment in a void and an eerie cadence of once-vibrant sensory ritual forever lost. When Johnny wakes up, Kenshi looks at him, eyelids are still open and blinking even though there are no eyeballs to shield.

I really like to consider Kenshi and Baraka being besties by bonding over being leaders of their own communities and coming above their rougher pasts (Baraka's tarkat and Kenshi's yakuza past) and what really solidifies my hc is that Baraka was, in fact the only person comforting Kenshi and keeping him company for hours.

The Lin Kuei borthers were ROBBED in MK1 😭😭

As an audience, i HATE that Lin Kuei brothers are doomed by the narrative. I just want them to be a happy family, doing their stupid brothers bickering things, not trying to kill each other!

But then, as a writer... I appreciate the angst. Bi-han's character is so complicated, his upbringing, his personality make his betrayal almost justified and natural. I love tragedy of siblings ending up on opposite sides of a war and only thing i would change from canon plotline is to make Kuai the older brother bc imagine the angst if you think that Kuai used to protect his younger brother Bi-han from any harm but could not save him from the darkness that resides in his heart.

I'm very intrigued about how they gonna bring Noob Saibot in as well as Hanzo's rise as Scorpion (on the side now, wtf was ed boon's problem with making Hanzo literal child?? I will just ignore that canon) but yes, i want more of Lin Kuei brothers' drama and see more of Kuai and Smoke's bonding.

To everyone waiting for the chapter update on The Mouth of a Wolf & The Eyes of a Lamb, I'm sorry it's taking so long 😭🙏 i recently found out i can connect my drawing tablet to my phone and since then I'm deep down in a rabbit hole. I literally can't focus on writing when a bunch of drawing ideas are cage fighting in my head. I'm trying to drain them out quickly as possible and move to writing 🙏😭❤️ again, i am gravelly sorry 😞 🙇‍♂️
