brocedes was lewis making snide remarks abt nico and nico talking in different languages to exclude lewis but also somehow looking teary in ever post-race interview.

No, lestappen wouldn't do any of that. They'd be something else completely. Max would straight up be going around shouting profanities abt charles to any interviewer willing to listen. Charles would be seen having multiple private conversations with their team boss. Team orders would be left ignored, podium finishes would be turned into DNFs, any race with them next to each other would literally lead to new track rules being created.

And then also they'd come out into pre-race, beginning of the week press conferences and talk abt just how amazing of a driver the other is.

Like the switch ups would be inSANE.😭

synopsis: it only took a few weeks for your relationship to make it to the public eye, mainly because your boyfriends can't stop yapping.

author's note: peach, i am kind of obsessed with this lestappen x male reader ideas because it's just like 😍 i have no words. it so funny and entertaining to me (trust there is dialogue in this one fr!). like always, feel free to continue to request!

you were hoping to keep things private for at least a couple of months. you should've known better. you did know better.

unfortunately for you, your boyfriends seemed to be allergic to shutting the fuck up. you weren't upset, though. in fact, you thought it was hilarious and adorable. however, charles and max didn't need to know that small tidbit of information.

you first heard that others knew of your relationship from pierre, who complained to you during the driver's parade.

"i can't believe you guys didn't tell me! charles was pining for you two for as long as i can remember! now he won't shut up about how much he loves you and how happy it is now that you guys are dating!" pierre whines, sending a teasing glare to the back of charles's head. charles was too busy yapping with carlos to notice.

"he told you now, did he?" you ask in return, a pinch in between your eyebrows. you had planned to tell everyone together, but your boyfriends tended to become mindless when they were chatting with the others.

"he told me the three of you barely fit on the bed since max takes up most of it, and how you make breakfast in the morning and how he gets the princess treatment!" pierre exclaims, sighing heavily. "it is ridiculous, truly."

the next time you found out others knew about your relationship was when you were on podium with lando and max.

"max here told me you three were together!" lando tells you in a whisper as max's eyes are trained on the race replays. the cool down room was almost quiet, save for max's comments here and there.

"of course he did," you remark quietly with a small eye roll.

"took you guys long enough," the younger man replies, nudging you with his papaya clad elbow, wiggling his eyebrows in a way that made you want to kick his shins. he was like your annoying little brother.

Lol lestappen is absolutely not PR. If they were we'd be seeing 'pap' shots of them hanging out in various places, and there would actually be a clear benefit to both of them out of this.

Instead, the only time we've seen them hang out is playing padel, and none of that is on their social medias. They don't follow each other. They don't post about each other. They basically ignore each other unless they happen to both be in the top three after the race or quali. And most importantly, there's nothing to gain (probably more to lose) to their public reputation by being in a PR friendship.

What they have right now is a tentative friendship based on convenience and a shared hobby.

fr, lestappen outside of work hangouts look like bigfoot footage sometimes lol. other drivers tend to hire a photographer when they play padel with max but that one time we know they were teammates we got one group picture and a video in a quality of a potato.

plus, as i mentioned before, neither max or charles really gain anything out of it. sure, max recently got more positive pr because people look at him and charles and go "oh, charles wouldn't be so fine with hanging out with someone who's an asshole". so in a way, charles humanizes him because people no longer see their own projection of the "mad max" persona the media created. charles doesn't benefit at all - ferrari doesn't vibe with max, the tifosi do not vibe with max. his friendship with max is not important for these people at all.

but also one thing i want to note, they are adults with busy schedules so i wouldn't expect them to hang out like besties or teammates because as someone who very much knows the friendship in adulthood experience, hanging out once in 1-2 months is very much the rough reality lol.

The GP and Max relationship is amazing in both and they are both so different but similar at the same time.

unconsciously max (my first race was abu dhabi ‘21 and bf’s family was split on max vs. lewis) i liked max’s spunk :) but consciously sharl because he was such a cutie with a sad backstory 🫣

I want to take a moment direct ppl to this interview if they like Carlos tho bc his interviews are always so intelligent and thoughtful. you also get a much more authentic persona out of him when he speaks in Spanish. there are more videos on that account from that interview too.

I love that he listed Checo and Fernando so highly bc of course he gravitates toward ppl he can speak to in his born language. the three of them personality wise are pretty different but whenever they move toward each other you can tell they're in compatriot mode.

but yea what he said re Lando and racing is exactly what Lando says - and what nobody ever wants to post except begrudgingly. the 'bromances' are dressed way up by fans and media but there is no deeper narrative and it's not that serious. when they're driving, all friends disappear bc winning is the only reason to even be in F1 let alone the only way to stay in it for certain. even the comments on videos like that are next to nothing bc they're not "shippy" videos. but it's authentic and true that these guys are F1 drivers first and foremost and wayyyy after that it's nice to have some regular buddies to hang with. we should all be able to put shipping aside and appreciate the actual drivers these guys are and the fact that they can put aside their intense competitiveness to be so friendly.
