still so obsessed with the fact louis immediately thinks of the traumatized and destitute when he talks about who will want to turn during the great conversion, especially in conjunction with his line about how "all vampires are born from trauma" in relation to claudia, and jacob anderson's interview where he's asked if louis regrets becoming a vampire, and he responds "yeah. i think so, i think so. but then, he wouldn't want to be a human again, either"
louis and his view on vampirism as something akin to purgatory - the only people who could ever want it are the ones trying to escape hell. he doesn't want to go back, but it's simultaneously an existence he never believes he (or anyone else) could find happiness in, and so those who already are happy would obviously never choose to turn.
#he's literally like well obviously nobody who is happy or loved or surrounded by family would choose this.#but the people who are miserable? who will run to anything that promises to stop the pain? who would take apathy over suffering? they might#like ah louis. there's a lot to unpack there.#also i'm using purgatory in the figurative 'a space between heaven and hell after death' way#but if we're being honest#present day louis sure is acting like this is his chance to burn away his sin before he meets god#the penitent monk who believes if he suffers enough he might be redeemed from all his wrongdoings#me getting on my hands and knees like louis i am BEGGING you to love yourself. please. please. please.#and louis stares at me before asking armand to please lift the bookcase of his favorites novels another 50 feet higher into the air#lest he decide to grab a ladder one day and give in to the urge to enjoy himself#iwtv
