It’s hard to not feel the pressure of being “present” on social media, but I also that allowing myself and my work to feel like a product I will lose the joy that I find in making. After I finish a big drawing I need a bit of time to step back from making so intensely, and take some space for myself. I think in the future this need while probably change, but for now I need to respect that space. A lot comes with a finished piece for me. It takes a lot of thought, research, and time. It’s well worth it but I have to remind myself to keep somethings for myself. So probably don’t expect a finished drawing from me for a little bit. My space is currently a huge mess, but I’ve been devoting all my waking free hours and all my energy to this piece. She’s probably the most ambitious thing I’ve created since I left art school. She’s also the first iteration of the pantheon of Saints filling my attention right now. Later this week this lovely lady will be finished and headed off to Denver to be in a Rose themed show. Finished a framed with lady. I call her “The Patron Saint of placebos and false promises” I painted her for a rose themed show at Illuminati in Denver. I’ve been thinking a lot about false medicine, the ways in which something seems like the beautiful answer but often holds thorny truths. How people can hurt us and do so with a smile on their face.
