Woke up this morning with this on my ibis paint, don’t remember drawing it. Rewatching Rules of Attraction rn. Want to actually do a full rendered drawing at some point but i hate rendering :( In other news the copy of Less than Zero I had on hold in the library is finally available so excited to read it. Glamorama isn’t in yet tho :( I need to work on edits too but they take so long (not really i’m just lazy.)

The Rules of Attraction is a “slice of life” satirical novel that follows a group of 1980s rich liberal arts college students who seem to do anything but study. Ellis does a fantastic job of showcasing how the characters suppress the emotions from their “real” lives with cyclical patterns of meaningless sex and parties. In terms of the Bret Easton Ellis novels that I have read, this is definitely a more palatable read than the likes of American Psycho and Less Than Zero. Overall, I would not necessarily recommend this novel to readers who need their books to have a fast-paced moving plot. However, if you like the idea of being a fly on the wall observing a messy social circle and aren’t sensitive to promiscuity, you may enjoy this one.
