oh, i've read that! I, um, preordered the sequel and have not gotten around to it, but i'm trying. the reason it really resonated with me is that, before i stopped having a train commute i could read on, i chose books based on "how dumb is this premise and will the book work despite and/or because of it" and it's really tragic how many books have a premise that's like "the king's guard rides giant butterflies and casts magic based on UV rays" but everything else about them is boring.

Hello! So you are my dashboard's resident hannibal fan. And I remember watching a couple eps years ago and actually liking it. However! I vaguely remember there being some discourse about a lesbian sleeping with a man (like I said, years ago) so I stopped. But I might like to start again so: Is this skippable? Does this come up repeatedly or is it like a one time event? Please advise? (don't be afraid to spoiler if they are relevant to this topic) Thank you!!!

the scene is in season 2 ep 10 and is quite short, so it is skippable. i believe it comes up briefly in the next two episodes, but they mainly discuss it in terms of why she had sex with him (to get pregnant). the pregnancy is mentioned more than the sex. yeah its kinda iffy to have a lesbian sleep with a man but i will say it makes sense within canon and lines up with margot’s motivation

There are fun sardonic paranormal investigators who fight against the supernatural powers that bind them, ladies who don’t feel fear but do love a good hungarian restaurant, stone-cold archivists with a taste for explosives and a brutal sense of the ‘greater good’, wicked occultists who try to commune with the supernatural through evil books and murder, messy complex detectives, eldritch real-estate agents and scary mannequins, ladies who will burn down everything you love either with willing zeal or bittersweet reluctance. Ladies filled with worms, ladies who pull webs of manipulation. Ladies who travel around hunting monsters and ladies who wanna kill the sun. Ladies who are driven and inquisitive and who get in trouble for it, ladies who are sharp and mean and uncanny in a way you can’t quite place. Many!

There’s only one ‘main’ female character in the first season outside of the statements (though the statements themselves feature women who definitely recur and who you meet as the story progresses), but once we get to s2 many more are introduced and voiced. And experience really interesting character development as the seasons go on.

Hi, hab deinen Post zu Geschichtsunterricht gelesen, sorry falls du schon viele Fragen dazu bekommen hast. Weisst du, ich denke das Problem ist, dass man sofort die AFD an der Backe hat wenn man Kindern beibringt wie man Faschisten bekämpft. Vor einiger Zeit ham' die sogar aufgerufen Lehrer an ein Portal zu melden die sich negativ zur AFD im Unterricht äussern. Zum Kotzen oder?

Dein AfD-Kommentar hat mich nochmal über eine andere Problematik nachgrübeln lassen, verzeih mir die Tangente - wie wertvoll ist es, in einem schulischen Rahmen mit Faschismus zu debattieren? An meinem Gymmi gab's jährlich (glaub ich) eine Podiumsdiskussion zu der lokale Politiker*innen eingeladen wurden um unsere Fragen zu beantworten, und wir hatten damals die Diskussion, ob die Lady von der AfD überhaupt eingeladen werden sollte. Der Ort (in BaWü) war jetzt keine AfD-Hochburg, insofern stellte sich halt die Frage, ist es wichtiger, Faschismus erst gar keinen Entfaltungsraum zu bieten, oder wäre das kontraproduktiv und würde eher mehr Protestwähler*innen schaffen?

(Die besagte Lokalpolitikerin hat wie auch erwartet jede Menge Gegenwind erfahren - ich hab mich selbst damals mit einer kleinen Gruppe Friends zusammen getan und recherchiert, sodass wir sie sehr gezielt grillen konnten. Was auf der einen Seite für mich eine sehr coole Erfahrung war - auf der anderen Seite ging der größte Teil der Zeit dafür drauf und im Nachhinein hätte ich gerne mehr von dem Grünen und der Linken gehört, die wenig zu Wort kamen.)

Und ja das mit dem Forum/Portal wusste ich nicht, überrascht mich aber leider gar nicht. Waren wir nicht ne wehrhafte Demokratie oder so? Danke für die Nachricht! 💖
