Left: Composer Leonard Bernstein. Right: Bradley Cooper and the world's worst fake nose playing Leonard Bernstein in the upcoming movie Maestro.
like holy fuck this is actual anti-semitism literally all you had to do was hire a Jewish actor. ONE JEWISH ACTOR, HOLLYWOOD, IT'S NOT THAT HARD.
Bradley Cooper is the Ron DeSantis of desperate to win an Oscar. the harder he tries, the more I hate him.

Many people do not understand why Bradley Cooper wearing a prosthetic nose as Leonard Bernstein is so upsetting to many of his Jewish fans.
Point one: the prosthetic is horribly disproportionate and doesn't look like his nose at all.
Point two goes far deeper. Imagine growing up with caricatures, cartoons and endless jokes about part of your ethnicity. Also knowing that it was used as a reason to "other" you during WW2.
Imagine this imagery traumatising your Holocaust surviving grandmother to the point that when I was about six years old she took me in her arms and almost pleaded that I would end up with a smaller nose than the rest of my family (I didn't.)
This has been a reality for many Jews who are already hurting from the continuing rise of antisemitism around the world.
Now imagine seeing a huge ridiculous fake joke of a nose on the face of the actor who stars as the lead in a story of a legendary Jewish artist; Leonard Bernstein who's Jewishness was a source of pride.
Perhaps now you can understand it sits wrong with Jews who still feel the pain of their ethnic features being mocked for centuries on end.
In recent years it has been made clear that using the characteristics of ethnic minorities on stage or on screen was not allowed anymore. Why is this different for Jews?

TV networks used to broadcast classical music concerts. Here, Leonard Bernstein, with a towel flung over his shoulder, puts the New York Philharmonic through a brisk rehearsal on November 25, 1958, for the orchestra's first appearance of the season on the CBS-TV network.

Music, because of its specific and far-reaching metaphorical powers, can name the unnamable and communicate the unknowable.
