hey @aestherians!! i really admire you as a member of the alterhuman community.

rambling at people helps me figure stuff out, pls bear with me.

i know you're a Ben Tennyson fictionkind. i wanted to ask you what that's like in great detail, if you don't mind. i should tell you about me:

i experience frequent and intense flickers of my AU fanfic project's version of Danny Fenton (original him: the 2004 Danny Phantom cartoon's protagonist) and though everyone tells me it sounds a lot like just flickers due to writing about him in my AU a ton (i know i shouldn't go by everyone else's opinions on my own labels, that's why i'm here, to compare your stuff with mine) yet still it gets me wondering.

i'm fairly certain that 2 other frequent fictionflickers i get may be parallel existences, but only because they're self-inserts protags of other fanfictions i'm also penning, whose origin stories involve reincarnating (or similar means) from the "real" me in this lifetime + body (sorry if that's worded confusingly at all) into new "fictional" selves (they struggle with seeing themselves as real people at times in-story due to this).

Danny does not have that issue. he is entirely himself, no past lives to remember, just him, his transgender boy/man identity, and pretty soon after his 14th birthday, his ghost/human hybrid physiology too. he is him, so how am i connected to him? i always have to "explain" these connections in my alterhumanity to make sense to myself, i can't just let stuff "be." if nothing else it can be a fictionlink...?

I think I'm prob'ly a devotee of Sekhmet-Bast

It's not set in stone 100% yet, but I just recently (like...yesterday) discovered that Sekhmet-Bast (and Bast-Sekhmet) are historically attested syncretizations. I mean, She can still be a "real" sync without that history, I understand this, but anyway -- I really adore this idea, and maybe by the time I'm finally in my late 30s or something (I'm turning 29 this year), I could even be personally ready to attempt to declare myself a priest of Sekhmet-Bast. I was already worshipping Them both separately and unknowingly mashing Their names together as if hyphenated when I prayed to Them, especially at night when I'm trying to sleep and suddenly experiencing anxiety spikes (which sometimes lead to borderline panic attacks; asking for Their help always works). So this simply feels like an appropriate and fitting step further in my faith's path. I'm still dwelling on it and contemplating it, just to make sure I'm not jumping any guns prematurely. Do y'all have any advice for me on this, or maybe do you just wanna celebrate with me in the reblogs?

A commission done for me by @prof-peach months ago; it's slightly outdated by this point (my retelling/reboot AU "Half-a-Phantom" is ever-changing, it seems...) but for the most part this shit is PERFECT for now.

Danny and Dark Future Phantom ("DFP" for short -- my AU's name for Dark Dan) fused together when Danny was 18 (Danny by himself had become the new Ghost King just a year prior) in order to avoid DFP destabilizing out of existence; there is no Vladdy's ghost half in this equation, there never was in my version. When DFP separated himself and his human self, he just killed him and then ran away, nothing else.

Here, Danny-DFP (how I refer to him post-fusion in my notes) is known as 30yo in human form, but mentally he is far older due to DFP's memories tacked onto Danny's. You can't tell anymore because of his beard, but his face has "seams" (like lines) in it starting from the edges of his mouth and ending at his ears; he can open his mouth incredibly wide. It's both a hunting (I feature the Ghost Hunger trope in this AU. He also has obligate carnivorous teeth as a ghost, doesn't chew anything) and an adaptation for his Ghostly Wail ("sonic scream/roar") ability.

His eyes turn red when the DFP part of his mind is triggered enough.

The Crown and Ring transform into a different appearance for each Ghost Ruler. For Danny, they're an aurora borealis and plain ice, respectively.

He's also 7-feet tall and built like a brick shithouse (has both fat and muscle), you're welcome. His human Fenton form is a transman, thin as a rail and 5'05". You're welcome again! Anyway, Danny has always subconsciously wanted to resemble his father more, so that's why his ghost form does just that (Jack himself is 6'06"). Both forms have the exact same freckles pattern (but you don't have to draw them the same each time, that'd be a pain in the ass).

I’ve nixed a lot of my vaguetypes because over time it became clearer they were just cameos and flickers, so now I’m back to just a handful. Eevee and vaporeon, my cluster of OCs, original species and AU canon characters, and yes, of course, all the Felidae. “Felidae” includes all earthly extinct/extant felines, as well as partial/mythical/fictional ones. When I say partial I mean like sphinxes and felitaurs (the feline version of centaurs), for two examples. A mythical example is the cait sidhe/cat sith from Celtic lore, and then some fictional examples would be meowth, liepard, or luxray from the Pokémon franchise.

I know there are people out there who hate their ‘type(s) for whatever reason, but I don’t hate any of mine, except for perhaps the OCs/AU canon character ones when the memories/noemata get really unpleasant. But when it comes to the felinity of me? I adore it. I can’t imagine not being feline. It’s such an ingrained part of my identity, it just took me years to unravel it from thinking it was merely a heart-type/kith to it actually being me, the one ‘type I have the most certainty of. I have felt close with cats from my earliest memories, though, being the grabby and loud child that I was, cats didn’t start liking me until I got older and wiser. (I don’t dislike my eevee/vaporeon vaguetype either, but it’s a bit lower on the scale of Yes, Absolutely, That’s Me, than Felidae are.)

Lions, servals, domestic cats, caracals, jaguars, Scottish wildcats, you name it, I feel kin with it.

my tentative UPG interpretation of the syncretized goddess I'm a new devotee of, Sekhmet-Bast; here depicted as a hybrid/blend of an African lioness + domestic cat with a darkened version of Sekhmet's frequently green color scheme. why darker? because I often see Bast as a black-furred kitty in my mind's eye. the red eyes are due to Sekhmet's strong association with crimson hues.

tabby cat markings, with the paler underside of a lion. rounded lion-ears with a house-cat's pointed tips. slit-shaped pupils like a pet cat in bright light. a muzzle/nose less broad than a lion's but bigger than a domestic kitty's, also has a kitty's above-the-eye whiskers. about the size of an African leopard, I imagine.
