Darkness prevailed in their surrounding except for the small amount of light from their phone. It was comforting, laying in darkness with his favourite person, the one who he would do anything for.

Small garbled speech was emitted from the phone, the background noise lulled him half to sleep. No matter how he tried to keep his smile off his face, Leon still noticed. His warm hand ran through Sonny's hair, and his smiles engulfed his entire face.

"You're so cute when your nose scrunches like that." Leon whispered.

Sonny only replied by burying his face in his love's chest, happy that for yet another night he may be with him.

It was summer yet the wind chill was felt to the bone. Looking at the stars was Sonny's favourite thing to do when sad since he was 8. He scratched his head as another wave of wind rolled over him. It almost threw him off balance. He planted his hands on the shingles of the roof for stability.

He didn't bother to look behind him when he heard someone climb on the roof with him figuring it was his wife back for round two of their fight. But as the person sat down beside he saw in his peripheral vision it was Sal.

"Angela is worried," his voice was soft and quiet yet it demanded attention, "She called me to check on you. She hates when you get in fights."

Sonny only grunted, ashamed about how he lost his temper earlier.

"She isn't mad at you."

"Doesn't mean I'm not mad at myself."

"Sunflower, you're too rough on yourself."

His tone got rough and irritated, "I'm rough on everyone and mad at everything."

Sal shook his head and put his arm around Sonny's shoulder, "I know underneath that anger and rage is just a lonely broken heart."

This seemed to break Sonny, a small whimper escaping as his eyes teared up. "Why can't you let me wallow in my sorrow?"

"Because you don't deserve to go through the pain you put yourself through. Now let's go back inside, Timmy wants to watch the saturday night cartoons with you still. I think Angela is going to make popcorn."

The patter of footsteps erupted from the hallway, they were heavy and fast paced. A smile beaming across his face, Sonny stood behind Leon as she sat and tapped her shoulder.

When she turned around, she couldn’t help but grin as well by just looking at how happy her husband was. “Yes, darling?”

Sonny pulled his arms out from behind his back and began bouncing with excitement and shoved something into her hands. Upon further examination, it was a small frog crocheted with fuzzy violet yarn. “Oh, honey, I love it!”

“Are you sure? Are you really sure? Because I can make a different colour. I’ve got-"

Deep breaths. His laboured breathing was getting extreme. He tried to steady them but wasnt doing well. His chest expanded and fell rapidly. He closed his eyes knowing that if he kept up at a rate like this he'd never make it out the door.

A knock jolted him. "Sonny? Are you ready?"

"No, I need help with my tie."

The door swung open and Sal stood in the doorway as Sonny turned around. His eyes were wide and his face was impossible to read.

"What? Does it look stupid? Should I change?"

This snapped Sal out of his thoughts. "No no no no. You look amazing. You're just so beautiful."
