bro, i saw leon facedown in his beer with his econ 201 buddies last oktoberfest. i’ve seen him in the chips aisle of the grocery store and picking up a sixer of nothing but the most questionable canned beer in the supermarket (bitburger. why he would betray his local kölsch like that idk, you’d have to ask him). i think i met him at a house party two years ago where he was telling some girl he got really into biking and bought himself a thousand-euro racing bike. he bought crushed ice at the gas station with three bros the other week on their way to a party. a friend of a friend introduced me to her douchey-but-funny-and-charming-in-a-sarcastic-way engineering-major boyfriend and i’m pretty sure it was leon draisaitl. he talked to me for half an hour about his half-baked shitty political opinions which made it clear that he doesn’t understand tax brackets

love that this is a universal experience among people familiar with germans. i’ve talked about it on this blog before too lol, but it’s just a bewildering and at times hilarious experience to watch people interpret him so wrongly. sometimes they think he’s way funnier than he is, sometimes he gets seen as super bitchy when he isn’t. i didn’t think the cultural divide between germany and north america was big enough for the amount of things i’ve seen getting lost in translation, but somehow Most Average Good-Looking German Man leon draisaitl lives in the atlantic ocean i guess
