My sisterFam @rumshakerzs gave me the BEST gift this evening; the #screening and #paneldiscussion of the ABSOLUTELY FANTABULOUS #documentary #movie,@Mrsoulthemovie at @apollotheater about #ElisHaizlip and his wonderful show #Soul! on #publictelevision. The Kelley’s were off the #plantation those years but I promise you that if we had been here I’m sure it’s something we would have watched religiously. What an amazing man and what an amazing tribute directed by his niece. I can’t give it enough #praise, and that was BEFORE I saw Poppy’s book #Dem by #williammelvinkelley (the version with cover designed by #leoanddianedillon) do a slow segue across the #screen. Narrated by the (*cough* gorgeous) @blairunderwood_official it is truly worth seeing and so #uplifting. Seek it out. #itsworthit. Oh and the group #BlackIvory sang and they still got it. Since it's Monday and because I have to work today without much time for art, I decided to feature one of my favorite artists. Or rather, two of my favorite artists because this work was all a collaboration between a husband and wife team. I love the work of Leo and Diane Dillon because of the versatility.
