Hey!! I wanted to make a request for Percy x (male reader) son of Apollo
The reader is mainly good at writing and drawing, and enjoys using Percy as his muse for his works.
Thank you, take all the time you need 🙇
Tumblr media
Shades of Green and Gold
pairing: percy jackson x maler reader tags: you are kinda a stalker, returned feelings, first kiss, percy is too handsome for the reader, you can legit write sonnets about percy, cute but kinda creepy
You’re reasonably sure that no one else in Camp Half-Blood spends as much time admiring Percy Jackson’s hair as you do. You won’t deny it, because who could blame you? There’s something about the way he grins, the way his sea-green eyes light up when he’s on the verge of a clever remark, or the way he ruffles his hair after a long day of training. It’s enthralling. You’re an artist—writing, sketching, painting—son of Apollo, heir to creativity and light. And Percy Jackson is your favorite muse.
Every morning, you wake early to catch the exact moment the sun spills over the lake, painting the surface with soft pinks and gold. You slip out of the Apollo Cabin carefully, trying not to wake your rowdy half-siblings. You carry a small sketchbook and pencil in your hand, charcoal in the other. The crisp morning air still bites, but there’s something comforting about that quiet, in-between time.
You settle on a flat rock near the canoe lake. From here, you can watch the water, the line of cabins, and if you’re lucky—Percy Jackson heading off to breakfast or morning training. You’ve lost count of how many times you’ve drawn him: in graphite, in watercolor, with ink. Half-finished poems about his eyes litter your journal.
Today is no different. As soon as you spot Percy, you can’t help but smile. He’s dragging a sword behind him, hair sticking out in all directions, still yawning. He’s adorable. You press your pencil to the page and start outlining his silhouette. The curve of his shoulders, the lines of his arms…You’re so focused that you barely notice when he turns and catches your gaze.
Percy raises his eyebrows in obvious curiosity. You flush, snapping your sketchbook shut, but it’s too late—he’s already jogging over. “Morning,” he says, grin slowly turning more playful. “Am I interrupting?”
You swallow and manage a small laugh, hugging the sketchbook to your chest. “Not at all. Just…practicing.”
He nods towards your pencil. “I see. Gonna show me sometime?”
Your heart beats louder than a battle drum. “Maybe…eventually.”
Percy’s grin grows. “I’ll hold you to that. See you at breakfast?”
You nod, and he jogs off, leaving you with that dopey, starstruck feeling you’ve never quite gotten used to. By the time you arrive at the Arena for combat practice, the midday sun is high and fierce—Apollo’s domain. You tie your golden camp shirt around your waist (much to your instructor’s dismay), opting for a lighter white tank top. Sweating profusely while you train with a bow is not your ideal way to spend an afternoon, but your father’s gift—unerring aim—doesn’t sharpen itself.
Chiron pairs you with Percy for a quick sparring session. It’s supposedly to “expand your skill set,” but you wonder if it’s the universe giving you more material for your sketches. You try to steady your heart as he flashes you another signature grin.
He wields his trusty sword, Riptide. You draw your bow, focusing on the center of the target behind him, but your eyes can’t help drifting to the lean lines of his arms. You almost feel guilty. Almost.
“All set?” Percy calls, pushing his dark hair out of his face.
“I’m ready,” you answer, stepping into position.
The session starts strong. You manage to keep your arrows close to the mark, even as Percy deflects them with impressive skill and a flurry of water from a nearby barrel. You can sense he’s showing off a bit—it’s Percy, after all. You grin. His confidence is infectious, and soon the two of you are exchanging friendly banter.
When you pause to catch your breath, Percy flicks water droplets from his blade in your direction. You splutter, trying not to laugh. He shrugs with an impish twinkle in his eye.
“Heard you’re a good artist,” he says casually, striding forward until you can see the slightest hint of sweat at his temples. “Piper told me your last painting of the Apollo Cabin was amazing.”
Your cheeks heat. “It’s nothing big.”
“From what I hear, it’s a big deal,” Percy insists, stepping closer. The space between you is suddenly charged. “Will you show me your work someday? I mean it this time.”
“Sure.” You feel the sun warm you from above, the presence of your divine father giving you a little nudge of courage. “I’d like that.”
That evening, the sky burns a vivid orange as the sun descends behind the strawberry fields. You find yourself on the porch of the Big House, perched on a bench, scribbling in your notebook. You wanted to capture the memory of Percy deflecting your arrows, to freeze the moment onto the page with just the right words.
“Still practicing?” Percy’s voice comes from behind you, startling you so badly you almost drop your pencil.
“Percy! I—”
He doesn’t wait for you to form a coherent sentence; he slides onto the bench next to you. The fading sunlight catches the green in his eyes, setting them aglow. His presence is warm and all-consuming, even though the day is cooling down.
“Sorry to sneak up on you,” he says. “Thought you might be here.”
You let out a small laugh. “It’s fine. You just startled me.”
He nods toward your notebook. “May I?”
You hesitate. The words in that notebook are deeply personal. Poems about his eyes, the curve of his smile, your fleeting impressions of each encounter. But there’s something in Percy’s earnest expression that calls you to trust him. With trembling fingers, you pass the notebook over.
He flips through carefully, eyes scanning the lines of your writing. He stops occasionally, lips moving with the words, eyebrows quirking up at certain phrases. You sense your entire being is in that notebook, and he’s reading you like a story. It’s terrifying and exhilarating all at once.
When Percy finally looks up, his eyes are strangely bright. “You wrote these…about me?”
You pull your gaze away. “I guess you could say you inspire me.”
He’s silent for a moment. You dare to look up and see a smile, soft and genuine, tugging at his lips. “It’s good. Like…really good. I had no idea I could be someone’s muse.”
You exhale a nervous laugh. “I, uh…I can show you the drawings, too, if you want.”
Percy nods, looking more interested than ever. “Definitely.”
You lead Percy to the Apollo Cabin and slip inside. Your siblings are out—probably at the campfire or racing chariots—leaving the bunks and scattered musical instruments in a hush. You rummage beneath your bunk, pulling out a battered portfolio.
It’s stuffed with sketches—some finished, some half-done. A watercolor of Percy standing by the lake. A charcoal piece of him gripping Riptide. A gentle pencil sketch focusing on just his face…his eyes, to be precise. You lay them out across your bunk. Percy stands behind you, so close you can practically feel the warmth radiating off him. You swallow, heart pounding, as he takes in each piece.
“They’re amazing,” he breathes, leaning down to pick one up. “I never realized—this is how you see me?”
You can’t quite meet his eyes. “There’s something about you, Percy,” you admit. “Your energy, your aura. You’re like the sea itself—constantly shifting, alive with motion. It inspires me. Helps me write, helps me draw. I never wanted to freak you out, so I kept it mostly to myself.”
Percy gently returns the piece of artwork to your bunk, then turns you around by the shoulder so you’re facing him. His hand lingers, thumb brushing over the fabric of your shirt.
“I’m not freaked out,” he says. “I’m flattered, honestly.” He chuckles, eyes scanning your face as though he’s searching for any hint of uncertainty. “No one’s ever done anything like this for me.”
You feel a burst of warmth in your chest. “Really?”
“Really.” Percy exhales a soft laugh, letting his hand drop to your wrist. “I like it. And I’d like to see more—whatever you make. If that’s okay.”
You search his expression, uncertain if you’re reading the situation correctly. The glimmer in his sea-green eyes suggests you might be. Mustering your courage, you nod slowly. “You can see everything,” you say, voice hushed in the quiet cabin. “I—I’d really like that.”
His smile widens. “Thank you.”
You swallow, that same unstoppable grin blossoming across your own face. The tension thickens, but it’s a gentle tension, a comforting one. He leans forward, and you feel his forehead against yours, that sweet, electric moment of closeness you’ve been imagining for weeks.
Finally, your lips brush softly, uncertain at first. Then Percy returns the kiss, delicate yet full of promise. It’s the kind of quiet moment that you know you’ll replay over and over in your sketches, in your poems, in your daydreams. When you finally pull away, you can’t help but laugh in disbelief. Percy gives a contented sigh, resting his forehead against yours again.
“Would it kill the mood if I told you I knew about this?"

Cuddle/Sleep Headcanons 💤🌙
Pairing(s): characters x Gn!reader
Character(s): Percy, Jason, Leo, Frank, Hazel, Annabeth, Piper, Calypso, Ethan, Nico, Octavian, Reyna
Tumblr media
Percy Jackson
Hes a horrible sleeper
I mean sure, you can sleep and cuddle like the couple you are
However, that doesn’t stop him from sleeping wildly
Limbs sprawled all over the freaking place and the only reason you know is because of the concerning amount of times you’ve woken up under some of them
To make it worse?
He’s a blanket hogger
He doesn’t rlly hog it in the sense that he steals it all
I mean he does, but he sorta just slides off the bed and takes the rest of the blanket with him
The urge to just 🔫
But yea
Nice to cuddle with but not to sleep with sorry not sorry
6/10
Jason Grace
Kinda stiff ngl
Like damn bitch, you live like this?
Plus he sleeps on his back face up 😭😭😭
Like wtf Jason
Are u ok?
In terms of actually cuddling, he’s pretty good
His arms are firm and his hugs are tight yet comforting
Plus he smells pretty good
Like no joke
I’d kinda see you sleeping on his chest since bro sleeps on his back
It’s nice but the stiffness is not appreciated 🙅
Atleast he’s not a blanket hogger and he’s quite considerate with the blankets and stuff
So
8/10
Leo Valdez
He sleeps two different ways
The first way is pretty compacted
What I mean is, he sleeps he sleeps bundled up by the blanket in a blanket burrito
The other one is where he sleeps sprawled out, limbs all over the place, blanket discarded
Just like Percy
So when he’s in a blanket burrito best believe he’s taking you with him
He usually does this during winter because he naturally runs hot
Anyway, he pulls you in and kinda bundled the blanket around you two for you guys to cuddle and be as close as possible
But when he’s sprawled out with his limbs everywhere he likes to cuddle with you on top of him
That or you’re abused and crushed by him in your sleep
Plus yknow how he runs hot? Well it’s absolute hell
It’s so hot and honestly suffocating when he’s sleeping on you 💀
Throw him on the ground pls
Ima rate him a 7/10 cuz he ain’t bad and if anything I love him so 🤷
Frank Zhang
He’s the best
Sorta…
He’s obviously huge so
He fully embraces you and hugs you so it’s pretty comfortable
And he sleeps on his side or stomach so there’s plenty of room
Even if he’s a bit stiff he’s still pretty nice to cuddle with
He’s pretty considerate on how you like to sleep/cuddle
He likes holding you so he’s not that picky
Honestly nothing to complain about with him
Except for one thing…
You can’t tell me this guy doesn’t fart 😐
I’m sorry but he just gives me those vibes
And it’s so bad
And not even on purpose either
It just happens but it’s the most traumatic thing ever
He feels pretty bad too 😭
Also when y’all are sleeping you just end up on different sides of the bed
He’s just casually on top of the blanket and you can’t even pull it from under him
You’re left shivering in the cold
Hazel Levesque
I love her 🫶
I see her sleeping on her sides and stomach tbh
She’s so sweet too
She loves to cuddle with you and even tho she doesn’t rlly have a firm grip she still likes to hold you
She especially likes to sleep on you
Either on your chest or just cuddled up to you
And she smells pretty sweet
Like clean laundry too like lawd
But ofc there’s gotta be some downsides
There’s isn’t really none with her, but with you
You end up stealing the blankets and hazel wakes up mad and cranky
That’s all and she quickly forgives you
Annabeth Chase
Sleeps on her back or side
She doesn’t really like cuddling all that much
She prefers to have some space and stuff when she sleeps
But if you want, she’s open to cuddling
She loves to both be held and to hold you
Mostly it’s mutual holding
Plus she probably sleeps with the fan on
Idk how to explain it
If you’re the type to always talk during night time then she’d react differently
Like if you gotta sleep asap cuz of the mission and all you do is yap
Then she’s turning her back on you and ignoring
What a meanie
At least she apologizes the next day but still
I don’t rlly see her stealing the blanket or anything but she is pretty stiff
Like besides hugging and stuff she lowkey just lets you hug her when she doesn’t feel like moving
Mood
Also since she smells good ofc ur gon sniff and she’ll be weirded out and ignore u this way too 😞
Piper McLean
She sleeps anyway tbh
She pretty cuddly and likes to snuggle w you
She usually likes to be held, but either way is fine
Especially after a fight or exhausting time with monsters
She’ll hold you in her arms too
She smells pretty nice and if you say so?
Well she finds it endearing
Unlike a certain someone
*cough cough* annabeth
But yea she’s the best
But she won’t hesitate to kick you out if you refuse to share the blanket
She gets enough crap from Leo
Who is just constantly annoying her
Calypso
The best
Like she fr loves to cuddle
With everything she’s been through best believe she’s the best cuddler
Honestly she sleeps whatever way
She’s another who loves to be held and to hold others
Especially if you’re hurt or anything
Then she’s try and tend to you
Even in sleep
Most times she’s a small spoon
She’s loved so many people who never loved her back
So perhaps she’s just a tad bit touch starved
And would obviously give in to any affection
As previously mentioned she loves to hold you too
Mostly just having you lean on her shoulder or lay on her lap but it also extends to cuddling on occasion
She’ll have you lay on her chest and in her arms and play with your hair
Ethan Nakamura
He’s so stiff it’s painful
(Not actually)
He’s definitely loyal, the books show that much
So despite his personal feelings with touch (he’s no doubt another touch starved person) he’d like to cuddle with you nonetheless
Not much in the beginning but he’d definitely warm up to you
And in the process, realize how much he wants it
He’ll let you love him however you want (cuddle him) and let you play with his hair
Which he loves
Eventually he gets enough courage to reciprocate
But he’s still stiff
Not the best when hugging or cuddling you because of how flustered he gets
Once you two go to bed and he falls asleep, he gets pretty subconsciously protective so he’ll hold you tight
Nico Di Angelo
Yes
Just yes
He loves to cuddle never made it obvious before tho
Another who was pretty stiff and touch starved
He gets over it quickly when he sees what you have to offer
I mean usually he just sleeps bundled up under the blankets, engulfed by their warmth
But with you there he just pulls you under the blankets with him so you can cuddle that way
Is mostly just mutual holding
He mostly just liked to intertwine your legs or hold onto you like a koala
I see him as a blanket stealer when you’re not glued together
He’s either super sleepy or not at all
When he’s tired he just drags you to bed, since that’s the only time nightmares don’t plague him
But when hes suffering from his insomnia he likes it when you stay up and talk with him
Idk to him it feels intimate but if you choose to go to bed, he won’t take it personally
If you play with his hair he won’t admit it but he loves it
Octavian
Ew.
Sorry I hate him but seeing that you’re here, you probs love him
So let’s get this over w
He’s rlly long and lanky and boney
Doesn’t stop yall from cuddling tho ig
And like a weirdo he sleeps on his back, arms to his side, head facing upward
Honestly probably obsessed with you
Only way he’d cuddle/ be in a relationship with you
He’s probably never been touched by another person
So he definitely likes to be held
Plus the bastard is selfish
And he doesn’t hold you
😐…
Yea so 1/10
I’m being generous
Reyna Ramirez-Arellano
I love her 😭🫶🫶
Yea she probs love you so ofc she’s gonna cuddle w u
Often times she’s busy with the duties of praetor so she can’t cuddle 😞
But it’s ok cuz when she can it’s the best
Not only is she holding you and making you feel cared after
But she also plays with your hair
Also you have to hold her
I don’t make the rules, just look at her, she needs it
When you do she’s a bit put off
But eventually she lets you coddle her
So more often than not she’s little spoon and comfortable
Just like she deserves
Yes beautiful
9/10
————————-
Note: I just realized Reyna is a hunter now idk why I even wrote hers 😭 maybe pre-hunter Reyna??? Idk man

percy jackson ^᪲᪲᪲
"oh shit, hold on m'gonna go get some rocks to hold down the blanket," percy said as the picnic blanket the two of you had put down starting moving with the breeze in the air. he didn't wait for a response from you, instead running around and finding large enough rocks to stop the blanket from moving.
you smiled as you watched him, breathing out a laugh as you saw him run into conner. conner gave you a questioning look as percy walked off after apologizing, you shrugging your shoulders in response.
soon, percy came back with his rocks he gathered. he quickly set four down, one on each corner of the blanket. "i named that one todd," he explained, pointing to the rock on the bottom right corner of the blanket, "and that one's tofu," pointing to another rock. "i haven't thought of the other names, but maybe you can think of them," he countined as he plopped down next to you; quickly throwing his arm over your shoulders and pulling you into his side.
"is there a theme with the names starting with a t?" you asked, smiling up at percy.
he blinked, thinking for a moment. "i didn't even realize i did that...huh," he mumbled, tilting his head to the side as he thought. "i guess there is a theme now," he concluded.
you laughed. "sounds good perce," you said, referring to what he just said.
he nodded thoughtlessly. "now it's more hard to think of names though," he said, looking at you for assistance with names.
"hush percy. the fireworks are going to start soon."
..
annabeth chase ^᪲᪲᪲
the two of you had retreated to her cabin a bit after the hermes cabin starting lighting up fireworks; both of you preferring to stay away from the loud noises and cheering of other demigods.
"thanks for being with me in here," annabeth hummed, grabbing your hand to hold.
you smiled and nodded your head. "of course annie," you said, squeezing her hand as you talked. "i normally go back to my cabin anyway during the fireworks. they can be a lot sometimes," you explained, knowing your girlfriend might be thinking she's keeping you cooped up in the athena cabin.
annabeth let out a breath. "good to know. i didn't want you to think you were stuck in here with me," she said, confirming your suspensions about her thoughts.
you shook your head softly. "even if i usally stayed out, i still would've come here with you. i never feel stuck with you, love." you explained as annabeth started tracing unfamiliar patterns onto your hand.
"i love you so much," she said, quickly dropping her head so her lips could meet yours. you quickly reciprocated the kiss, brining your free hand up to your face.
"love you to, so much." you said as you pulled away. "now, do y'wanna tell me about that book of yours you've been reading?" you asked.
annabeth smiled, pulling you so that you were sitting side to side with her. she quickly grabbed her book off her nightstand, flipping to the page where the summary was. "i thought you'd never ask, my love."
..
piper mclean ^᪲᪲᪲
pipers face was inches away from yours, her eyes focused on applying a face design onto your upper cheek. "what are you drawing again, babe?" you asked.
piper quickly shushed you. "hush. you're messing up the design, hon. stay still." she said, pulling away from your face to scold you.
"so mean, pipes." you said, only to receive a small playful push on your shoulder from her. you resisted the urge to laugh, knowing that it would mess up the design more than it already is.
"okay!" piper beamed. "we're done with that," she patted your cheek affectionately.
"i don't even get a kiss?" you asked, smiling at your girlfriend's deadpan look as a reply to your question.
"you'll get one when your makeup is finished, how about that?" she mused, attention going to her makeup bag as she shuffled through it, looking for the next thing to put onto your face.
"deal," you said, agreeing with her proposal. you put your hands into your lap, being mindful of the still wet nail polish piper had put on you earlier.
"what d'you think of glitter for your eyeshadow?" piper asked, displaying a glitter pallet to you.
"whatever you think will look best, my dove," you mused, looking at piper with what drew would describe as heart eyes.
..
jason grace ^᪲᪲᪲
jason had his head in your hair, his hand holding yours as he rubbed absent-minded patterns onto your hand. "d'you wanna stay for the fireworks, my love?" he asked, his voice slightly muffled because of his position.
"m'fine with whatever you wanna do babe," you said as you waved back at annabeth as she passed you with percy. you felt jason smile into your hair, before he pulled his head away from yours.
"we'll stay for a while, but if it gets to much for either of us, we can go back to my cabin. sounds good love?" he said, figuring that you might not want to stay for the entire fireworks show.
you hummed. "yeah, that sounds good." you moved your head so it was rested in the crook of jasons neck. he ducked his head down and pressed a light kiss to the top of your head, smiling lightly when he heard you hum in response to the kiss.
"y'know, sometimes i think of now lucky i am to have you," jason started, looking ahead twords the camp lake and watched as percy tackled leo into the water for whatever reason.
"usally, or at least when i was still at camp juniper, i didn't really celebrate anything. i mean, i had people to do things with, but i never had that one person who was mine," he countined, feeling heat from your cheeks on his neck, causing him to chuckle lightly.
"im so, so glad that i met you. and that you can be that one person i can share special memories like this with." he finished, "i love you so much, i hope you know that, love."
"jason, you need to stop randomly dropping speeches like that. but i love you to. so much."
..
leo valdez ^᪲᪲᪲
"leo, honey. what on earth happened?" you asked your boyfriend as he sat down on the blanket you had set up on halfblood hill. leos arms and face were covered in what looked like soot, but, knowing your boyfriend, it could've been anything.
he grinned, and looked at you with the sparkle in his eyes that he always had when he was with you. "surprisingly, travis n' conner don't know how to make fireworks correctly; so I helped them," he explained as he sat down across from you, still looking at you like you hung the moon and stars yourself.
you rolled your eyes playfully at his explanation, reaching your hand out to his face to brush the worst of it off. he emideantaly leaned into your touch, humming lightly as your hand brushed away the soot on his face.
"hope i wasn't to late for the good fireworks?" he asked as he repositioned himself so he was sitting next to you instead of across. you shook your head in response and moved closer to him, resting your head on his shoulder.
he responded to your touch by resting his head atop of yours, and bringing his hand over your shoulders, pulling you even more close than you already were. "i hope you like this next firework, babe. designed it just for you," he said, motioning his head to the sky where you could still see light remains of the previous firework launched.
before you could question what leo meant, the next firework was lit. as it went up into the sky, you could see both yours and leos cabin symbols clear in the sky, along with a heart surrounding the two symbols.
..
frank zhang ^᪲᪲᪲
"i still don't get this whole fourth of july thing," frank said, staring at the sky with a confused look as the next firework was set into the air.
you laughed at frank's statement. "frank, hon, i don't think most americans get what it's about either. they just want to celebrate something and have an excuse to be loud," you explained, shuffling closer to frank, which he responded to by putting his hand over yours and holding it softly.
"yeah, that actually makes sense," frank agrees, before looking past you and at something else. "why does percy have an eagle hat on?" he asks. you turn your head around to be met with the exact sight frank described.
you chuckled, throwing annabeth an apologetic look as she made eye contact with you. she smiled lightly, before saying something to percy, causing him to gasp in what sounded like disbelief.
"and, i don't get the whole red white and blue theme. i mean, it can look good, i guess, but some people take it a bit to far," frank said, shooting a look at leo who was wearing an american flag as a cape.
"hon, i think you're just saying that because of what leos wearing," you said, smiling as frank looked at you with a smile plastered on his face.
"yeah, i am, how'd you know?" he said jokingly, before moving so the two of you were now fully cuddled up with one another.
..
hazel levesque ^᪲᪲᪲
"hazel, you look amazing love," you said in a dreamful tone as you looked at hazel. she was wearing a off white ruffle dress that ended just above her knees, and she had on her jewelry; which included four necklaces, many, many, beaded bracelets, and her rose quarters earrings.
she flushed , painting her cheeks in a deep pink. "thank you, darling. i didn't know if i did to much or not, but since it is a holiday I thought I might as well get a bit dolled up." she explained.
you smiled, beckoning her to sit next to you. "well, i think you look amazing, hazel. and your jewelry goes wonderful with your dress." you said as she took a seat next to you on the picnic blanket.
she blushed again. "you look lovely as well, dear," she muttered, still recovering from your compliments. "oh! i brought some sweet iced tea for the two of us, if you want any." she said, pulling out a jug from her tote bag. "im surprised that none spilled," hazel muttered as she looked at the canister.
she turned her attention to you. "so, you want some, lovely?" she asked again.
you smiled. "of course, love. thanks for bringing drinks. i don't really know if i trust what hermes cabin is giving out to drink," you said, eyes moving to some kids of hermes you didn't personally know offer piper a drink.
hazel turned to look and cringed. "yeah, i don't think i want to try any of that," she said as she turned her attention to pouring a cup for you. "here you go, darling," she smiled.
you thank her with a quick peck to the lips. hazel blushes once again, almost dropping your glass of iced tea in the process.

Nico’s heart pounded in his chest as Cupid’s mocking voice echoed around them, his magic coiling around Nico's soul like a noose. Jason stood on one side, his blue eyes wide with concern, while you—Percy’s twin brother and Nico’s boyfriend—were on the other. Cupid’s voice dripped with cruel amusement, cutting through the silence like a knife. "The truth, Nico di Angelo. Tell them who once held your heart."
Nico’s throat closed up, his worst nightmare unraveling before his eyes. This was the moment he had fought so hard to avoid—the truth he had buried deep within himself, even from you. But there was no escape now. Cupid’s magic tightened, pulling the confession from his lips like a venomous secret. "I…" Nico’s voice cracked, his fists trembling as he clenched them at his sides. "Percy Jackson."
The air in the room shifted. Your breath hitched, but Nico couldn’t bring himself to look at you. He knew what he would see—shock, hurt, betrayal, the crumbling of the trust you'd built together. The pain he’d been dreading. "What?" Your voice came out in a cold, broken whisper.
Nico swallowed hard, staring at the floor. "It was before I met you, before Percy got with Annabeth. I thought—" He stopped, the words turning to ash in his mouth.
But you could read between the lines. Now everything made sense, how Nico easily allowed you to befriend him; you weren't special, just a boy who shared the same face as someone Nico loved. Loves. "So, let me get this straight. You're only with me because my brother didn't return your feelings? Am I just your consolation prize?"
Nico’s head snapped up, panic swelling in his chest. "No! No, it’s not like that!"
Your eyes narrowed, fury replacing the initial shock. "Really?" you spat, taking a step toward him. "Because from where I’m standing, it sounds like you settled for me when you couldn’t have Percy."
Nico’s voice wavered as he pleaded, desperate to make you understand. "I didn’t settle! I chose you because I love you. That crush…it was stupid. It doesn’t mean anything anymore!"
But Cupid’s laughter echoed again, cruel and jagged like shattered glass. "Ah, but old feelings never truly die, do they, son of Hades?" The god’s voice teased, his presence hanging over them like a storm. "You can hide it, bury it, but the truth always has a way of surfacing." Nico had never wanted to strike down a god as much as he did now. "Now that the truth is out," Cupid continued, his mocking tone fading as his presence disappeared, "I'll leave you to deal with the consequences."
Silence fell, but the weight of Cupid’s words lingered like a blade pressed against Nico’s throat.
"You played me." Your voice, thick with unshed tears, barely above a whisper but laced with so much pain that it felt like a physical blow. "You say you love me, but if Percy hadn't chosen Annabeth…if he had even shown the slightest interest in you, would you still have ended up with me?"
Nico froze, the question like a dagger to his chest. He wanted to deny it, to say that nothing would have changed the way he felt about you. Perhaps your friendship did arise from some misguided crush on Percy, but as time progressed, Nico fell in love with you. You. But even then it took time for him to distance who you and Percy were, sometimes it even stunned him how much you were alike, so if Percy did magically return his feelings, would Nico fall for you? His silence seemed to confirm your suspicions as your expression hardened.
"That’s what I thought."
Jason stepped forward, trying to break the tension. "Guys, come on. Maybe we should—"
"Stay out of it!" You snapped, your voice sharp enough to make him flinch. Jason took a step back, helplessly looking between you both, understanding that this was something beyond his control.
Nico reached out, desperate to grab your hand, to stop you from slipping further away, but you recoiled. "Don’t." Your voice was quiet but firm, the finality in that one word shattering the last bit of hope Nico had. "Just…don’t."
Nico could only watch as you turned away, disappearing into the shadows. Jason hesitated for a moment before following after you, leaving Nico alone in the cold, empty chamber, the weight of what he had just lost settling deep in his bones.
When the three of you returned to the Argo II, the change in atmosphere was immediate. Gone was your usual bright demeanor, replaced by hollow eyes and the kind of blank expression that spoke of barely contained pain. Nico, too, was different. His usual quiet presence had shifted into something darker—his shoulders slumped under the weight of regret, his face pale as if he were just moments away from breaking.
The others exchanged worried glances but said nothing as you silently headed toward your cabin. The slam of the door reverberated through the ship, causing everyone to flinch, even Nico, whose eyes lingered on the door as if willing it to open and for everything to go back to how it had been. But it wouldn’t.
Hazel was the first to break the silence. "What happened?" she asked, her voice soft, her gaze fixed on Nico. When he didn’t respond, avoiding her eyes, she looked to Jason, who merely shook his head, pity etched across his features. "Nico," Hazel pressed gently, her worry growing. "You can talk to us."
But Nico didn’t answer. Instead, he stepped back, letting the shadows around him rise, and within moments, he was gone—leaving the others standing in silence.
Days had passed, but to Nico, each one felt like an eternity. Every hour that dragged on without your voice, without your gaze meeting his, was a torment he hadn’t anticipated. The coldness that had settled between you was suffocating. Whenever Nico approached, even just to be in the same room, you’d find some excuse to leave. He could sense it, the way you tensed whenever he was nearby, the way you averted your gaze, as if looking at him was too painful. And that hurt more than anything—knowing he was the cause of it.
The others noticed the growing distance between you two. The worried glances exchanged over meals, the whispers behind his back. Jason and Hazel, in particular, kept trying to reach out, but Nico had shut himself off. What could he say? How could he explain the rift when the mere thought of it made his chest ache? Even Leo, who usually cracked jokes at the dinner table, had grown more subdued, as if the tension in the air had smothered his usual cheer.
Nico couldn’t bear it anymore. He had to fix this—he had to at least try. He couldn’t stand the silence, the void that had replaced the closeness they once shared. So, one night, when the Argo II drifted quietly through the sky and everyone had retreated to their cabins, Nico ventured out onto the deck. The night was cool, the stars twinkling above like distant, indifferent observers to his misery. But that wasn’t what caught his eye.
You were there—alone, standing at the edge of the ship, staring out into the horizon. For a moment, Nico just watched you, his heart aching at how much he missed simply being near you. He could almost imagine everything was fine—that you were waiting for him, that you’d smile when he approached, kiss his forehead, and mention how he needed to take better care of himself.
Gathering his courage, Nico stepped forward, his footsteps soft against the deck. "Can we talk?"
You stiffened at his voice, but didn’t turn around. For a few agonizing moments, there was nothing but silence. Then, with a sigh, you spoke, your voice devoid of the warmth Nico so desperately missed. "I don’t know what there is left to say."
Nico’s heart sank, but he pressed on. "Please, just let me explain."
At that, you turned to face him, and Nico saw the exhaustion in your eyes. The sleepless nights, the weight of betrayal, all of it etched into your features. "Explain what, Nico?" Your voice was calm, but there was an edge to it, a coldness that made his chest tighten. "That you were in love with my brother? That you settled for me? That I wasn't your first choice? Do you think words are going to fix this?"
"No," Nico whispered, stepping closer, his voice strained with the weight of everything he wanted to say. "No, I don’t think words can fix it. But I never meant to hurt you. I—" He paused, swallowing hard, trying to find the right words. "It was a crush. A stupid, meaningless crush. I didn’t choose you because of Percy. I chose you because of you."
Your eyes flickered with something—anger, hurt, betrayal—but you didn’t waver. "Then why didn’t you deny it when I asked you? Why didn’t you just say that nothing could have changed how you felt about me? Why did you hesitate?"
Nico opened his mouth, but the words wouldn’t come. He hadn’t known what to say back then, and even now, he was at a loss. How could he explain that moment of doubt without sounding like the worst kind of person?
"You see?" You shook your head, your expression hardening. "You couldn’t. You couldn’t tell me that I wasn’t just second best. But, do you know what hurts the most? It’s not just that you had feelings for Percy. It’s that a god had to force you to tell the truth. If Cupid hadn’t intervened…how long would you have strung me along? How long would I have been in the dark while you carried this secret? Were you ever going to tell me?"
"I—" Nico started, his voice faltering. "I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I didn’t want you to get hurt. It was just a crush. Something stupid. And I thought I’d gotten over it, I swear." He took a step closer, his eyes pleading with you to understand. "I grew a crush on Percy when we were younger—when I first came to camp. He was the hero. Brave, kind...everything I wasn’t. And I thought, maybe if I could be near him, maybe I’d feel like I belonged."
Nico’s hands clenched into fists at his sides as he remembered those days, the confusion, the hope, and the loneliness that had followed. "But it wasn’t real. Not like what I feel for you. Percy was this…this idea in my head, someone I admired from afar. But you—" His voice broke, his eyes locking onto yours with desperation. "You were real. You saw me for who I am, all the broken parts, and still cared. What I feel for you isn’t some crush or fantasy. It’s love. I love you."
You shook your head, your face twisted with both anger and pain. "But how am I supposed to believe that, Nico? After everything? How do I know you aren’t still lying to yourself or to me? You say it’s love, but how do I trust that?"
Nico felt like the ground was crumbling beneath him. He couldn’t lose you—he couldn’t. "I’m not lying," he insisted. "I swear it. On the River Styx, on my mother, on Bianca—on everything I hold dear—I love you. I don’t care about Percy anymore. What I had for him was nothing compared to what I feel for you."
The solemn weight of Nico’s oath filled the air, the magic of the River Styx sealing his words, making them unbreakable. The sky seemed to darken for a moment, a rumble of thunder far in the distance, confirming the binding nature of his vow.
But you didn’t flinch, didn’t waver. Your eyes, once filled with love, now only reflected the deep wounds left behind. "Maybe you believe that, Nico," you said softly, but the coldness in your voice made it clear that something between you had shifted, something that could never be undone. "But I can’t anymore. I can’t keep going, wondering if I’ll ever fully have your heart. Because that shadow—the one you said lingered over you—it’ll always be there, won’t it?"
Nico’s breath hitched, the weight of your words crushing him. He wanted to scream, to beg, to prove that you were wrong. That there was no shadow, no lingering doubt in his heart. But his silence, that hesitation back in Cupid’s lair, had already broken something vital between you. And now, no matter what he swore on, no matter how much he begged, you didn’t believe him anymore.
Tears pricked at Nico’s eyes as he realized that he was losing you, that you had already made up your mind. "Please…" he whispered, his voice barely audible. "Please don’t go."
You looked at him for a long, painful moment, and Nico thought—hoped—that maybe there was still a chance. But then, you shook your head, and turned away, leaving him standing there, the solemn weight of his oath ringing hollow in the night air. Nico felt the cold wind biting at his skin, but it was nothing compared to the emptiness that had settled deep within him as he watched you walk away. Alone, once again.

Headcannon:
After they defeated Gaea, Percy and Annabeth spent the week in Montauk with Paul and Sally. Percy hadn’t seen his mom in almost a year, so he nearly broke down when she gave him a hug. Sally was hysterical. Sally didn’t even bother setting up two beds for the kids, she knew they would just sneak into one room. The first night there, Annabeth woke up screaming. Sally was immediately at their bedside, asking what was wrong and trying to calm her down. She was buried in Percy’s chest crying. Percy just looked defeated as he shook his head. They wouldn’t dare to tell her where they’d really been that summer. They didn’t want to worry her any more than they already had. The next night Percy knocked on her door because he too had woken up from the terrors within his mind. He didn’t want to wake up Annabeth, so instead he and his mom sat together in the couch as she gently stroked his hair. Sally spent the week babying them and bringing them tea throughout their sleepless nights. Sometimes she could hear Percy comforting Annabeth with gentle words. Sally was proud of who he had become, and she loved Annabeth as her own. By the end of the week, both of them sleep soundly. Sometimes she would watch the two of them from the doorway just to make sure they were really there with her. It was hard being a demigod mom.

Jason not telling anyone about his birthday is just... So sad on so many levels.. and literally nobody in the fandom talks about it (so I will duh)..only Piper had to figure it out and ask him about it, even then, he was embarassed to admit it.. proves how much nobody ever made him feel special about his true self or ever told him that he was worth being born :( He feels ashamed about making his birthday about himself even though that's the whole point of birthdays, because he feels that he isn't important enough :(
he just shrugs off his birthday, a day that is supposed to be about you, because "they have bigger problems". He has been told his whole life, to shrug off his own personal issues to put everyone else above him in the Roman legion, that not even birthdays make much sense for him.
Jason never ended up telling anyone about his birthday in the end either. Only Piper and Thalia knew. And his only known birthday was the day Annabeth and Percy fell into tartarus.

Heroes of Olympus but the ships are slowburn like in the first series so we have to suffer all over again
Frank and Hazel stumbling around each other and Frank being unable to explain why he hates Leo so much while Hazel is still barely over Sammy
Piper "he may not know it yet, but he is MINE" McLean pulling increasingly desperate stunts to try and win Jason over x Jason Grace who is as oblivious as PJO Percy
Percabeth asking each other "were we like this? there's no way we were like this" and Grover having the time of his life on the other side of the empathy link because Percy now knows what he's been enduring for the last four years
Leo's seventh-wheel character arc would so much more pronounced because now the flirting pre-couples seem to literally have no time for him unless they want to talk about romance and he just wants his fucking friends back
I'm very very normal about this

The Engine Room Scene
Leo Valdez x reader
Warnings: MoA spoilers, mentions of foster care, loneliness, a steamy makeout session
Author’s note: I’m actually really proud of this one so let me know what you think
———————————-———————————————
I quietly rocked back and forth on my heels, trying not to make any noise. If I let the floor creak even a decibel too loud, Coach Hedge would be out here in an instant.
I had been standing here for at least three minutes now, working up the energy to knock on my best friend’s door at this ridiculous hour. I knew he’d been feeling really down lately- something had been off since we left Camp Jupiter- even after Piper had coaxed the Eidolon out of him. I had kept myself awake all night so far, trying to figure out how I could help him.
I had originally decided to talk to him tomorrow, but my mind wouldn’t let me rest for even a second- so here I was.
Part of me wanted to just enter the room, as I had so many times before. But the other part of me wanted to turn back to my room, go to bed, and pretend that I hadn’t been standing out here for several minutes now. I decided on a third option of knocking as quietly as I could, to avoid stirring any of my other sleeping friends.
After the first knock, I took a tiny step back- listening for any movement in the room. There was none. I waited half a minute before trying again, slightly louder this time.
Still nothing.
Anyone else would’ve given up there, but I knew my best friend too well. If he’s not in his room, he’s either on the deck, working on the ship- or he’s in the engine room.
I tip toed as quietly as I could, my slippers being a soft cushion to silence the impact of my feet on the boards. I headed toward the back of the ship, and down to the lower deck to the engine room.
Before I even opened the door I could feel the vibration of the engine. It’s hum was quiet and relaxing, which gave me a feeling I was in the right place.
I slowly pushed open the door, trying to avoid any creaking. Of course with Leo’s excellent craftsmanship, the doors weren’t going to squeak anyways.
I took a soft step inside, and immediately spotted my best friend peacefully sleeping on the floor with only a pillow and blanket. It looked extremely uncomfortable.
I quietly closed the door behind me, stopping it before it clicked to limit any more noise that Hedge might hear.
I tip toed over to him, sitting down next to his sleeping figure, and reached down to run my fingers through his hair.
It wasn't unusual for us to be physically affectionate with each other. We had been best friends for almost a year now. We first met when we both ended up at the Wilderness school with Piper. The three of us had become close, but Leo and I shared a special bond. We understood each other in a way that no one had ever been able to before.
Both of us had grown up in foster care- so we never really had a permanent home. Being with Leo every day for the past year has felt more like home than I ever thought I could feel.
Things only started feeling off the past few days. With the Eidolon in Leo's head, he had fired on Camp Jupiter without knowing. He also had quite a few outbursts that left our friendship in an uncomfortable place. I knew it was just the Eidolon, but his words still stung.
Leo had never been anything but gentle and kind to me- aside from his targeted jokes every now and then- but that was how our friendship worked. When the Eidolon was possessing him he said some things about how my parents didn't care about me and that's why I ended up in foster care. He also had said something about how of course we are the only two single members of the quest because nobody cared about us.
I let the words pass over me in the moment, but part of me couldn't get the memory out of my head. And yet, I was more worried about him than I was about my own emotional wellness.
I brushed his hair out of his face, watching a sleepy smile settle onto his face at the feeling. I subconsciously started tapping Morse code on his head- the way to communicate he made me learn at the Wilderness School to talk during classes. It took a while, but I got the basics down. We hadn’t used it much since he’d gotten so busy with building the Argo ii, and we hadn’t used it at all since he’d been possessed by the Eidolon.
He stirred, and I immediately stopped tapping. I didn’t even realize until I’d stopped that I was tapping miss you.
I pulled my hand back, letting him blink his eyes open. I watched as he reached his arms up to stretch, a smirk crossing his face as he looked up at me.
“Well well well,” he said, looking up at me, “if I’d have known I’d be getting a late-night visit, I would’ve put on my good pajamas.”
I snorted at his attempt at a joke, rolling my eyes and smacking his arm gently with my hand.
His smirk widens as he rests his hands behind his head, “what can I do for ya, querida?”
I blushed lightly, breaking eye contact for a moment before saying, “I just wanted to see how you were doing…”
His smirk dropped slightly, looking uncomfortable, but his grin quickly returned as he said, “If you mean after having an evil spirit leave my body… I’d say I’m doing great, even better now that you’re here, estrella.”
I sighed, knowing his typical way of deflecting his feelings into humor. It would be hard to get around.
“Leo, I’m serious.” I prodded, “I know something’s been up lately.” I leaned back, allowing my arms to prop me up.
He scanned my face, his face becoming slightly more serious, but he didn’t let go quite yet.
“I think you’re just making up excuses to hangout with your charming best friend in the middle of the night,” he said, turning on his side to face me, resting his head on his hand and raising his eyebrows suggestively.
“Yeah, that’s it. I just was dying for some alone time with you.” I said with thick sarcasm in my voice, playing along to his game. The words were true, but that isn’t what I was here to talk about. That was a conversation for after I figured out what was going on with him.
“See, I knew it, mi amor,” he grinned, looking up at me, “come here.” He said, laying back and opening his arms.
I rolled my eyes, but obliged, moving forward until I was laying on the floor as well- our arms around each other and my head in his neck. Unfortunately the floor as uncomfortable as I anticipated. Although I hardly noticed that as I breathed in Leo’s scent. He always had a soft smell of camp fire, and I adored it. Nothing ever could make me feel so at home.
There had been many nights at the Wilderness School that Leo and I had spent comfortably laying on each other. There were even a few times we’d accidentally fallen asleep in each others dorms. It had always been purely platonic, although Piper had questioned us about it hundreds of times.
After we got to camp, we obviously weren’t allowed to sleep in the same cabin- or even lay together. And now with Coach Hedge on the look out… let’s just say I missed the times we got to spend together like this.
I took a deep breath, pushing the memories aside and bringing myself back to the present moment. I could feel Leo’s hands fiddling with the hair on the back of my neck.
“Leo?” I asked, exhaling.
“Hm?” He hummed quietly.
“Can you be honest with me?” I whispered, as I begun subconsciously tapping again on his side where my hand rested.
He was silent for a moment, still fiddling with my hair, before saying, “Of course, querida.”
I nodded, feeling the warmth of his neck against my cheek. “What’s been going on with you? I know the whole evil spirit thing was a lot… but something else has just seemed… off? You know?”
He took a deep sigh, hands moving to fiddle with something from the floor now instead of my hair. “The ‘whole evil spirit thing’ was definitely a lot…” he whispered, mocking the way I said it.
“But, I don’t really know.” He said, shifting slightly below me.
I lifted my head, looking up at him, and lightly tapping a word that I had learned very well on his side. Liar.
He shook his head, rolling his eyes at my gesture. “You just know me so well, huh?” He teased.
“Of course I do.” I nodded, now fully propping myself up to look at him. “And I know when something is off with you.”
He breaks eye contact, suddenly finding the wooden wall a lot more interesting than this conversation. “This just isn’t really what I expected… I don’t know.” He trails off.
He’s always had a hard time talking about his feelings. He didn’t open up to me about his mom until nine months into our friendship. I understood completely, but all I wanted was to help him.
The night that he finally opened up to me about her, I had helped him relax and then the words started flowing much more easily. I decided that I should do the same now.
I slowly reached my hands up to his head, bringing them to his hair and massaging gently. He leaned into my touch and closed his eyes.
“You don’t know?” I asked, not stopping my movements.
He hummed, clearly only half-paying attention now.
“It’s not what you expected?” I asked, repeating what he had just told me.
He opened his eyes slightly, gazing up at my face, but closed them again and leaned his head fully into his pillow. He gave a slight shrug, “I just feel…” he paused for a minute before continuing, “kind of like an outsider?”
I was taken aback by his words, but I didn’t show it. An outsider? And he’s saying this to the one person who gets him more than anyone?
I continued massaging his head, nodding at his words even though he couldn’t see me. “An outsider? Why?” I asked gently.
He shrugged again, and softly mumbled, “Everybody here just seems so useful to eachother. Percy and Jason have all their awesome powers. Piper literally saved me with her charm speak, Annabeth has her super smarts, you are just like all around perfect…” he trailed off, opening one eye to look at me.
I blushed, tucking my head into his neck again, but didn’t stop massaging his head.
He continued, “Hazel and Frank… actually I haven’t gotten to know them very well yet, but I bet they can do some awesome stuff too.” He finished.
The tone of his voice could’ve shattered my heart. When he finished talking, I pulled my hands away from his hair, propping myself up to get a better look at him.
“Leo?” I asked gently. He moved both of his hands behind his head again to look up at me.
“Yeah?”
“Who built this ship?” I ask.
“My cabin.” He answered.
“No Leo. Who is responsible for building this ship?” I asked again.
His eyebrows furrowed, before responding, “Me, but-“
“No.” I cut him off, “Stop that. None of us would even be here without you. You’re the most important one here. Seriously.” I said, confidently.
He let the corner of his mouth twitch into a slight smile, “Thanks, querida.”
I looked at him for a few moments, still not feeling like the air had been cleared. He wouldn’t make eye contact with me.
“Leo.” I said softly.
“Yeah?” He asked, still not meeting my eyes.
“That’s not everything, is it?” I asked, laying back down next to him and trying to catch his eyes.
He glanced over at me, before staring at the ceiling and giving his head a small shake.
“What’s going on?” I asked, reaching out a hand to rest on his arm and draw soothing shapes on it.
He pursed his lips, momentarily glancing at me again. He shook his head before speaking, “That’s not the only reason I feel like an outsider.”
I continued tracing shapes on his arm, “Then what is it?” I asked.
He gave a small chuckle, “You’re not going to let me joke my way through this one are you?”
“Never, Valdez,” I smiled through my words, shaking my head and scooting closer to him.
He finally turned his head toward me, looking into my eyes. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then closed it again.
When he finally spoke, his voice was even softer than before. “Do you ever feel like… everyone’s got somebody and you’re just alone?”
I nod, recognizing this conversation as one we’d had before- particularly about when we were in foster care.
“You know I do.” I said gently.
“Well…” he said, rolling his head back toward the ceiling and throwing his arm over his face. “I just thought I was done feeling like that when we got to camp- and when I met you, Jason, and Piper- of course. But now that we’ve started this quest I’ve been feeling that way more than ever…” he trailed off, still covering his face with his arm.
I paused for a moment, considering his words. Could this be because of the Eidolon? Or maybe because we’re so far from all of his newfound brothers and sisters?
“Why do you think that is, Leo?” I asked, allowing my hand to rest now on his arm.
He removed his arm from his face, eyes directed toward the ceiling in silence for what felt like ages, before speaking, “…I don’t know how to explain it…” he paused again for several moments, “Like… Jason and Piper have eachother, Annabeth and Percy have eachother, Frank and Hazel don’t know it yet but they obviously are going to be together… and I just feel like… I don’t know…”
I processed his words, feeling the truth of them sink in. Almost everyone on our ship was paired off. But then again- so were we. The friendship that we shared did that for us. We had a connection between the two of us that we didn’t have with anyone else. We did all the same things as any of the other couples… we just weren’t a couple.
I start tracing my fingers along his arm again, softly saying, “Well, we have eachother.”
His eyes flickered to mine briefly, and then he fully turned on his side to finally face me, looking me directly in the eye.
I dropped my hand, feeling my heart rate pick up a little bit. I wasn’t sure why I was nervous, but it didn’t feel like a bad type of nervous.
“We have eachother.” He repeated, nodding.
“Of course.” I confirmed, nodding as well.
I watched as his eyes scanned over my face once, then again.
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a q-tip and a plastic bottle cap and began fidgeting with them.
“That’s different though,” he said, now watching his hands work with the items.
“Is it really, though?” I asked, watching him fidget as well. “I mean, you’re my best friend. We tell eachother everything, and we do things like-“ I paused, gesturing between us, “this.” I finished.
He nodded slowly, not meeting my eyes.
“I mean how different is that really from what they have?” I asked, shifting onto my back so I could stare at the ceiling.
He paused his fidgeting, returning the items to his pocket. He took a deep breath in, exhaling slowly. I was familiar with this look on his face. It meant he was deep in thought. It was the same look that he had when he’d be working in bunker 9.
I studied his face, reaching a hand out to gently rest on his cheek. He leaned into my hand, pressing a quick kiss to it before meeting my eyes again.
“You really are something special, you know that?” He whispered, glancing behind me at the cracked door.
I blushed, shaking my head slightly, “You are, Leo.” I said, scooting closer to him.
I could feel his breath on my face, and he glanced again to the cracked door.
I turned my head to see what he was looking at. “Everything okay?” I asked, “Did you hear something?”
When he didn’t answer, I turned my face to look back at him. He was now inches from me, looking intently into my eyes, and I swear I could see his eyes flicker to my lips for just a millisecond. He shook his head, looking back into my eyes.
A swarm of butterflies filled my stomach, and I could feel my face getting hot, but I stared back at him.
“Want me to close it?” I whispered, watching his chest rise and fall with every breath he took.
He nodded.
I sat up, pushing the door closed as quietly as I could with my foot. It shut with a quiet click, and I paused for a moment, listening to ensure that no one else had stirred from the sound.
When I was sure that no one had woken up, I turned back around, laying next to him again. His gaze was heavy on my face, and this time I was sure I caught his eyes flicker to my lips for a second.
Neither of us moved, just scanning eachothers faces- and I knew mine was bright red.
After a moment I whispered, “you okay?”
He opened his mouth again, but the words didn’t find him. He shifted, reaching out his hand to rest on my cheek gently, his hand warm and comforting. Our eye contact grew even heavier, and I felt a stirring deep in my stomach.
He leaned closer, hesitantly, as if he wasn’t sure what I would do. I immediately leaned in as well, closing the gap between us. We found eachothers lips in a hot, passionate kiss.
His mouth desperately moved over mine with a pent-up intensity. His hands tangled into my hair, ruffling gently to angle my face to move in sync with his. I gasped into the kiss, feeling his body against mine. The hand that wasn’t in my hair slid around my waist, his fingers pressing gently into my back as the kiss deepened, and I heard a low groan escape his throat. The sound made me feel like we were both on fire.
Each brush against each other sent shivers through my spine. I allowed my hands to move, finding his shoulders. The lean muscle was a familiar feeling beneath my fingers, but I gripped on him, bringing him even closer. I ran my hands down his back, silently encouraging him to press against me until I could feel every inch of him. His lips left mine, tracing down my jaw and grazing along my neck. I could feel waves of heat pulsing through my body. I gasped, tipping my head back as his mouth found a spot just below my ear, his lips burning against my skin.
He shifted, kicking my legs apart until his body was pressing me gently back against the wooden floor, and he was hovering over me. Both of us were breathing heavily, gazes intent on eachother as I felt his entire body against mine. He leaned down again, with more confidence this time, capturing my lips desperately. I could feel his hand shakily slipping beneath the hem of my shirt, hot fingers brushing the bare skin on my stomach.
My own hands followed his lead and roamed under his shirt, tracing the muscles along his back with my finger tips. I let out a quiet moan as he shifted his weight, pressing into me. His head dropped and his mouth returned to my neck, trailing a line of hot kisses and gentle bites that made me feel light headed. My fingers moved from his back to tangle in his hair, tugging gently, and he groaned against my skin. His hand continued moving up my side, leaving a trail of heat everywhere he touched.
As his hand traveled up, my shirt bunched up with it. His fingertips grazed my skin, and he lifted his head to look at me. “You’re so beautiful, mi amor.” He whispered, breathlessly.
He leaned in again, his lips trailing down my collarbone, pressing heated kisses against my skin as I tangled my hands in his hair again. He pressed his forehead to my collarbone, kissing all over. His hand resting on my side, and I felt the soft tapping of his fingers against my skin. He was using Morse code. He was tapping- love you. The realization sent a flood of warmth through my stomach, and I gripped his shoulders, pulling him even closer, feeling my eyes sting with pure love and happiness.
Then he shifted his weight again, his hips pressing into mine in a slow, intentional motion that left me breathless. I let out a soft gasp as I held onto his shoulders, feeling his heartbeat pounding against my own. His hands traced down my sides, his touch careful, as he pressed into me again, each movement full of longing.
We moved together, every touch and soft gasp saying what words couldn’t. His lips found mine once again, kissing more deeply, more fervent. I could almost feel his lips quirk into a smile against my lips as he took continued shifting his hips against mine. It was just us, our connection, tangled together, as everything else seemed to fade away.
The intensity slowly softened, and he cradled me in his arms, our foreheads pressed together as the room grew still. We were both panting, looking deeply into eachothers eyes and neither of us could fight the smiles overtaking our faces.
His fingers traced soothing patterns along my skin, and I reached my hand to his side. Gently tapping out the same code that he had earlier- love you.
Looking into his eyes, I could see them start to water a little bit too, as mine had before. It was just us. The two who never had a home, never had anyone who truly loved them- and now we were finding it all in each other.
The rest of the night was filled with soft whispered words, and several more gentle kisses. We were so completely wrapped up in our own little world that we didn’t even realize when we started to drift off together.
The next morning, I woke up to the sound of the door opening. I was immediately confused about where I was, until I felt his arms still wrapped around me, and smelled his soft scent of campfire. I looked up and he had a line of drool running down his chin. Adorable.
I heard someone clear their throat from behind me, and I instantly sat up, spinning around to see who it was.
My frantic movement had made Leo sit up as well, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
Annabeth stood at the door, arms crossed, looking down at us with an amused look on her face.
“It’s not what it looks like-“ I began.
Annabeth cut me off, “It’s definitely what it looks like.”
I could feel my face get hot, as I turned to Leo for help- but he was just staring at her wide-eyed like a deer in headlights.
I exhaled, shaking my head, “I just wanted to make sure everything was okay after-“
She cut me off again, “The Eidolon? I won’t tell Hedge, don’t worry. Just get back to your cabin before anyone else finds you two down here.” She said, gesturing up the stairs to my cabin.
I nodded, standing up and straightening out my appearance. I glanced back down at Leo, who looked extremely relieved.
As I went to exit, Annabeth held out a hand to stop me. She glanced down at my neck, then back at my face and let out a loud laugh.
“What?” I asked.
“On second thought, go see Piper before you go back to your cabin. She has some makeup.” Annabeth said, clearly amused.
“Makeup?” I asked, confused.
“You’ll see when you get there.” She said, shaking her head and looking back down at Leo.
As I headed away to the stairs, I could hear Annabeth talking to Leo. She said something like, “I like the idea. How comfortable would you say the stables are?”
