Yesterday, The Criterion Collection (@criterioncollection) announced their January 2020 titles. And one of them is Le Petit Soldat (1963), directed by Jean-Luc Godard, which has been number one on my wishlist of films I want Criterion to release probably since I first really got into film and Criterion! (And that was back in high school.) I'm really excited, like even more excited for films that I actually like better. But I was really surprised by this announcement and, again, am really excited about it! Here are a couple artworks I made 5 years ago when I wanted to make some of my own film artwork for fun. The first is actually the size of a Criterion blu-ray cover. And I think I should have done the font a little differently so the title stood out more, but I still really like it. The second is more like a movie poster and even includes credits but they're cut off on the post. I also made this one in a variety of colors but decided to only post this black and white one to go with the other artwork. The Fire Within (1963). After watching The Lovers I decided to watch the another Louis Malle film I had previously not seen. I wasn't as into this as The Lovers, but it was still worth the watch. It has the same simplicity as The Lovers. OH, I do have to mention that the opening scene made me think about when I was first getting into classic French films and reminded me just how much I love them.
